With electronic music moving beyond the boundaries of its own genre and joining forces with others, it can be difficult to stand out. However that clearly doesn’t seem to be the case for Surrey brotherly duo Disclosure.

Guy and Howard Lawrence first got noticed when they released ‘Offline Dexterity’ in 2010 followed by ‘Carnival’/’I Love...That You Know’ in the next year. However things didn’t really pick up till the release of ‘Latch,’ featuring Sam Smith, who at that point was also just starting his career as well. Since then, it’s been like a whirlwind for these two brothers who have gotten themselves collaborations with London Grammar, AlunaGeorge and Mary J. Blige. Disclosure finally released their debut album, ‘Settle’ in 2013 and started flying all over their world with their pop vocal driven electronic repertoire -- landing them prime sets at Lollapalooza, Coachella and Sasquatch Music Festival.

With all the vocalists they’ve worked with, it would be rather difficult to have them perform at every single one of Disclosure’s sets. However when the duo performed at Governors Ball this year on Randall’s Island in New York, they didn’t seem too bothered by the fact that much of their vocals would all be recorded. Each standing at his station, Guy and Howard took turns in amping the crowd up for the dance party that they clearly started on that part of the island. And by the massive turnout, they were one of the festival’s favorites. Although considerably new to American soil, their sheer presence on stage drove everyone wild as they were ready to dance. Showing that they also knew how to play instruments aside from working the DJ front gave them even more street cred on the live end.

Perhaps the one thing that really did damper on this writer was just how strong the bass was through the speakers. Putting it on all high cylinders, the bass thumped so hard that you could feel your bones shake. Now that’s something no one wants to feel.

By far one of the most visually interesting concerts I have ever been to, and one of the most creative live performances by DJs I have seen! This concert was a visual masterpiece, as the lights, moving parts of the stage, and graphics on the screen created a spectacularly designed show. Howard and Guy Lawrence played many instruments with ease live - including bass, guitar, and multiple electornic percussion instruments. Their live performance was so much more dynamic than their already well crafted tracks, and I was overwhelmingly impressed by their live music. For a lot of electronic shows, DJs are kind of forced to stay stationary, but the production of the show was so extraordinary and beautiful that it created movement on the stage that apmplified the vibe. They also took a live video feed of the duo, and laid it in with moving graphics, which not only magnified their presence but blew standard live feeds out of the water. The lights played really well to the venue, with the stage lights illuminating the trees and the fog sillhouetting their shape. For their last song, they had Brandon Reilly, who is featured on the track "Moving Mountains", sing his part of the song - but he went above and beyond the original vocals for the track doing falsetto runs and improvisations that were mindblowing given the setting (as it is usually hard to sing so accurately at a loud electronic concert).

I couldn't even dance and had to dstay towards the back of the amphitheater a few minutes in because of a sports injury, and I still just as much fun as the people standing right in the very front. I think the equity in experience for all event-goers is a sign of a truly great show!

DISCLOSURE was AMAZING! It can be hard to find dates for this dynamic duo in the US, but i went to see them at the Governors Ball Music Festival in NYC and it was fantastic! This was one of the shows that my friends and i were determined to catch and have good spots for so we got there over an hour early to wait and ended having amazing spots maybe only 10 or so rows back from the front and right in the middle. When they came onto the stage they were so charmingly British and adorable, I love them now even more than I did before, which is really saying something! They played all of the big hits including "Help Me Lose My Mind" (and great live vocals from the brothers by the way.) "When a Fire Starts to Burn," and then for "White Noise" they brought out ALUNA GEORGE, who was fantastic as well, and all three have great stage presence. They closed with "Latch" and everybody was singing and or screaming along and the brothers were so into it and talked to the crowd, they were so fun and even before playing "Latch" teased us by saying "hmm do we have time for another song?!" and smiling and laughing at each other. There were also three diamond shaped jumbo-trons behind the two DJ sets they had on stage that had amazing graphics including flames, faces, and more that was all timed to the music--very well produced and planned! Love the accents, love their creativity, down-to-earthness, and overall attitude! Would totally recommend to see them and SNATCH up the tickets before they are gone!

It’s been quite the year or so for Disclosure; the Surrey-born brothers, Guy and Howard Lawrence, have enjoyed major critical and commercial success with their debut record, Settle, an intriguing blend of garage and deep house that had enough of a pop sensibility to make them a firm fixture on UK radio. I’d say it’s hard to believe they’re so young - twenty-three and twenty, respectively - although that’d probably be disingenuous of me, given that they both look about twelve. Among their many live highlights of the past year or so - and there’s been plenty of them, given that they’ve toured prodigiously and played high-profile sets at the likes of Glastonbury and Coachella - came at the Parklife Weekender in Manchester, where they curated and headlined a huge outdoor stage on the Sunday. Despite the fact that they were effectively topping the bill on the second stage, the crowd voted with their feet, and the verdict was clear; Foals played what was ostensibly the festival’s headline set to a sparse main stage audience, whilst Disclosure played to vast valley of people, with many amongst them trying, and failing, to take up the high ground on the hill as the trough below swarmed with fans. To put it bluntly, they’ve got the world at their feet; their followers will be hoping that whatever they do next can be translated to the stage with as much energy as Settle.

The production values were top-notch, as was the setlist, which equally covered the gamut of both "Settle" and "Caracal" capably, with a few sprinkles of other non-album tracks mixed in.

Glad I saw them as the headliners, rather than as part of a music fest, where I doubt they'd have been able to have spread their wings as much!

It was great!... Sadly "help me lose my mind" was missing. Anyway, the great performance was awesome, the crowd was ecstatic, the lights screen at the back was hypnotic, and the guest appearance of Brendan Reilly was a huge boost (the live version of "moving mountains" was much better than the studio one, which, is already great)!

The music was very good. Lighting and soundsystem is really cool. Too bad that the crowd is terrible. Too many aggressive people screaming and pushing other people. I went to all disclosure concerts in Berlin. This one is definitely the worst. The one in Berghain is still the best.

My mate and I went to see Disclosure in Manchester on the 28th Nov 2016. By far the best night of each of our lives. There's nothing quite like singing in unison with thousands of other people to the absolute bangers that Disclosure have produced. 10/10 Can't wait to go again

One word: perfect. The show was just what I expected. Hope them get Argentina soon!!! The sound and the lights are great. The timming and the set list was pretty good. Maybe three more songs will complete the full experiencie. Never the less I really like it!!!!

Disclosure have announced a European headline tour for 2022 – you can see the full schedule below.

The dance duo – comprised of brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence – revealed today (September 6) that they will hit the road next March. It comes after they confirmed a trio of London shows last week (these dates have since sold out).

Disclosure’s European tour will see the group take to the stage in Paris, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw, Moscow and other cities throughout March 2022. Tickets go on general sale at 9am CET (8am BST) on Friday (September 10) – you can purchase yours from here .

“After the past 18 months, nothing makes us happier than to announce these European dates,” the duo wrote on Twitter – see that post below.

Disclosure’s forthcoming London dates will mark the brothers’ first gigs in the capital in seven years. They will perform at Heaven (March 2), O2 Academy Brixton (March 4) and Alexandra Palace (March 5).

Last month saw Disclosure top the bill at Reading & Leeds 2021 . In a four-star review of the group’s Main Stage West slot , NME wrote: “The brotherly duo have graduated to bonafide festival kings, continuing to take the cues from their heroes  The Chemical Brothers , who’ve been able to walk into a headlining set anywhere on the planet for the last two decades.

“Tonight’s performance is a leaner, faster version of their show, and though there’s a shimmy away from more traditional live instrumentation, the stripped back set-up packs an almighty punch.”

Disclosure recently released a new EP called ‘Never Enough’ , which followed on from their 2020 studio album ‘ENERGY’ .

Disclosure add to their sold out 2022 London shows with a full tour across Europe

IMPRINTent, IMPRINT Entertainment, YOUR CULTURE HUB, Disclosure, Toast Press, London, London Shows, Europe Tour, Belgium, Amsterdam, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, London Tour, Tours, VEVO, VEVO Music

Last week  Disclosure announced three London live dates for March 2022. These will be their first London shows in 7 years (since they toured their second album ‘Caracal’) and revisit key and varying sized venues across the capital that they have played previously. Heaven, O2 Brixton Academy and the 11,000 cap Alexandra Palace all sold out within 24 hours of going on sale.

Now they are excited to add a run of dates across Europe starting with Le Zenith in Paris on March 9th, then heading to Belgium, Amsterdam, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia and finally landing in Lithuania on March 23rd.

Given the closure of all live venues since the start of the pandemic, as with all musicians, Disclosure haven’t had the opportunity to play in any live setting for some time – but the seal was broken a week ago with a jubilant headline show at Reading & Leeds festival. Until then, material from their latest album ‘ENERGY’ was yet to be played to a live audience in any capacity but now fans get the chance to hear the Grammy nominated record in actual live spaces across Europe.

Their third studio album ENERGY was released to much global acclaim in August 2020 and featured top end collaborators jumping on stand out singles such as ‘Watch Your Step’ featuring Kelis, title track ENERGY , the Grammy nominated ‘My High’ featuring Aminé and slowthai, the globally unifying and uplifting ‘ Douha (Mali Mali)’ and the R&B infused swagger of ‘Birthday’ featuring Kehlani & Syd – all of which showcase the versatility and innovation harnessed by these two young, songwriters and producers.

Tickets for these EU shows go on local pre-sale Wednesday, September 8th and general sale on Friday September 10th. Tickets HERE

Rediscovering Europe's Charms: The Rise of Intimate Guided Tours in a Post-Pandemic Era

I n the aftermath of the global COVID-19 crisis, the European travel industry has undergone a profound transformation. The once-ubiquitous group tours, with their regimented itineraries and bustling crowds, have given way to a new breed of personalized guided experiences, offering travelers a more immersive and tailored journey through the continent's cultural tapestry.

As the world gradually emerges from the shadow of the pandemic, a renewed sense of wanderlust has gripped the hearts of adventurers worldwide. However, the traditional allure of group tours has waned, replaced by a yearning for more intimate, curated experiences that prioritize safety, flexibility, and authentic cultural immersion.

The Demise of the Conventional Group Tour

In the pre-pandemic era, European group tours reigned supreme, granting voyagers the luxury of meticulously planned schedules and the delight of venturing alongside newfound friends. These tours promised a hassle-free experience, whisking travelers from one iconic destination to the next, with little room for spontaneity or personal preference.

Yet, as the COVID-19 crisis unfolded, this well-worn model crumbled under the weight of health concerns and ever-changing travel restrictions. Worries about social distancing and the potential for virus transmission in crowded settings prompted a wave of travelers to reconsider their fondness for bustling group dynamics.

"The pandemic made us reevaluate what truly matters when it comes to travel," reflects Sarah Thompson, an avid explorer from London. "Suddenly, the idea of being herded from one attraction to the next with a large group lost its appeal. We craved more meaningful, personalized experiences that allowed us to immerse ourselves in the local culture while prioritizing our safety and well-being."

The Rise of Bespoke Guided Adventures

In response to this seismic shift in consumer preferences, a new breed of travel providers has emerged, offering tailored guided tours that cater to the discerning tastes of modern explorers. At the forefront of this movement is Excursopedia , a pioneering company that has swiftly established itself as a leader in the European personal guided tour market.

"Our mission is to redefine the guided tour experience," explains Excursopedia's founder, Marco Rossi. "We recognized the growing demand for more intimate, customizable journeys that allow travelers to truly connect with the local culture and heritage of each destination."

Unlike traditional group tours with fixed itineraries, Excursopedia's personal guided tours offer unparalleled flexibility and personalization. Travelers can handpick their preferred destinations, dictate the pace of their adventure, and tailor each experience to align with their unique interests and preferences.

"Whether you're a history buff yearning to unravel the secrets of ancient civilizations, a culinary connoisseur seeking to savor the authentic flavors of regional cuisines, or an outdoor enthusiast longing to explore Europe's breathtaking natural landscapes, our personal guided tours ensure that every moment is tailored to your passions," Rossi enthuses.

Immersing in Local Culture with Expert Guidance

One of the hallmarks of Excursopedia's personal guided tours is the deep connection they forge between travelers and the local culture of each destination. By partnering with seasoned local guides who possess an intimate knowledge of the region's history, traditions, and hidden gems, Excursopedia ensures that every journey is steeped in authenticity and cultural richness.

"Our local guides are more than mere tour leaders; they are ambassadors of their homeland, passionate about sharing the intricacies of their culture with curious minds," explains Rossi. "Through their expertise, travelers can venture off the beaten path, immerse themselves in local customs, and forge lasting connections with the communities they visit."

From savoring homemade delicacies in a family-run trattoria in Rome to partaking in traditional crafts workshops in the highlands of Scotland, these intimate guided tours offer a window into the soul of each destination, creating memories that transcend mere sightseeing.

Prioritizing Safety and Sustainable Practices

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the prioritization of health and safety has become paramount in the travel industry. Excursopedia has embraced this challenge wholeheartedly, implementing stringent protocols and best practices to ensure the well-being of its clients and local communities.

"Small group sizes, adherence to local health guidelines, and meticulous sanitization procedures are just the beginning," asserts Rossi. "We also prioritize the use of sustainable transportation methods and eco-friendly practices, minimizing our carbon footprint and contributing to the long-term preservation of the destinations we explore."

By championing local guides, small businesses, and sustainable tourism initiatives, Excursopedia not only provides travelers with a safe and rewarding experience but also actively supports the economic and environmental sustainability of the communities they visit.

Forging Lasting Connections, One Journey at a Time

As the world continues to navigate the post-pandemic landscape, the allure of personal guided tours in Europe shows no signs of waning. Travelers, emboldened by a newfound appreciation for authentic experiences and meaningful connections, are flocking to companies like Excursopedia in search of transformative journeys that transcend mere sightseeing.

"Travel is about more than just checking off bucket list destinations," reflects Sarah Thompson, her eyes sparkling with the memories of her recent guided adventure through the Tuscan countryside. "It's about cultivating a deeper understanding of the world around us, forging bonds with people from different walks of life, and leaving a positive impact wherever our footsteps tread."

In this new era of conscious travel, the rise of personal guided tours in Europe signifies a profound shift towards experiences that prioritize authenticity, cultural immersion, and sustainable practices. As travelers continue to seek out these bespoke adventures, the guided tour industry is poised to evolve, embracing a future where every journey is a tapestry of cherished moments, woven with the vibrant threads of local heritage and human connection.

The Trailblazers of Transformative Travel

While Excursopedia has undoubtedly emerged as a pioneering force in the realm of personal guided tours, they are not alone in their quest to redefine the European travel experience. A growing number of companies and independent guides have embraced this paradigm shift, each offering their unique approach to immersive and tailored journeys.

One such trailblazer is "Wanderers of Europe," a boutique tour company founded by a collective of young, multilingual guides hailing from various corners of the continent. Their ethos revolves around breaking free from traditional tourism constraints, encouraging travelers to forge authentic connections with locals and uncover the hidden gems that lie beyond the well-trodden paths.

"We don't just want to show you the highlights; we want to invite you into our lives, our cultures, and our communities," explains Lena Ivanova, a passionate guide from Bulgaria. "Our tours are designed to be living, breathing experiences that evolve organically based on the interests and curiosities of each individual traveler."

From impromptu culinary workshops in someone's humble kitchen to spontaneous jam sessions with local musicians, the Wanderers of Europe pride themselves on crafting serendipitous moments that transcend the realms of traditional touring. Their approach resonates deeply with a growing cohort of travelers seeking to forge genuine connections and embrace the spirit of adventure that lies at the heart of transformative travel.

Technology's Role in Enhancing the Guided Tour Experience

As the personal guided tour industry continues to flourish, technological innovations have emerged as valuable tools for enhancing the overall experience. Cutting-edge apps and platforms have revolutionized the way travelers plan, book, and embark on their bespoke adventures, streamlining the process and opening new avenues for customization.

One such platform, "Tour Tailors," has garnered widespread acclaim for its user-friendly interface and advanced algorithms that match travelers with the perfect local guide based on their interests, budgets, and travel styles. By leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning, Tour Tailors ensures that every guided experience is meticulously curated to align with the unique preferences of each client.

"We believe that technology should empower, not hinder, the pursuit of authentic travel experiences," states the company's founder, Elena Giordano. "Our platform acts as a bridge, connecting curious explorers with knowledgeable locals who can unlock the true essence of each destination in a way that resonates with their individual passions and curiosities."

From virtual reality tours that offer immersive previews of potential itineraries to real-time translation services that bridge language barriers, technology is poised to play an increasingly pivotal role in elevating the personal guided tour experience, ensuring that every journey is not only memorable but also seamless and hassle-free.

A Sustainable Future for European Tourism

As the personal guided tour movement continues to gain momentum, its impact extends far beyond the realms of individual travel experiences. By championing sustainable practices, supporting local communities, and promoting responsible tourism, this burgeoning industry holds the potential to reshape the very fabric of European tourism.

"We have a unique opportunity to redefine what it means to be a responsible traveler," asserts Marco Rossi of Excursopedia. "By prioritizing small group sizes, partnering with local guides and businesses, and educating our clients on the importance of minimizing their environmental footprint, we can pave the way for a more sustainable and ethical approach to exploring Europe's rich tapestry of cultures and landscapes."

This ethos is echoed by many industry leaders, who recognize the pivotal role personal guided tours can play in preserving the authenticity and cultural heritage of the destinations they showcase. By fostering deeper connections between travelers and local communities, these immersive experiences have the power to cultivate a sense of appreciation and stewardship that extends far beyond the duration of the journey itself.

As the world continues to navigate the uncharted waters of a post-pandemic era, the rise of personal guided tours in Europe stands as a beacon of hope for the future of conscious travel. By prioritizing authenticity, cultural immersion, and sustainable practices, this emerging industry is paving the way for a new generation of explorers who seek not merely to visit destinations but to forge lasting connections and leave a positive impact on the world around them.

Paris 2024: Why the battle for a spot to represent Japan at Olympic Games might be the fiercest

By Mathieu Wood

The race for qualification to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics is hotting up, perhaps summed up best by the fight for a spot to represent Japan.

Japan trio

With Hideki Matsuyama, who lost out in a play-off for the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, currently eligible by virtue of featuring among the top 15 on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), eyes are on who will join the Major Champion in teeing it up as their second representative at Le Golf National.

And there is an argument for saying the race for qualification for the men's competition at Paris 2024 among Japanese golfers might be the fiercest.

Since February and up to now, the opening week of April, a different player has occupied the second qualification spot in the Olympic Golf Rankings (OGR).

Following his maiden DP World Tour title at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in February, Rikuya Hoshino replaced Ryo Hisatsune , who had occupied the qualifying spot since the tail end of last season.

Hoshino, who was given the honour of hitting the opening tee shot at his home Olympics in 2021, had twice finished runner-up on the DP World Tour earlier this season.

Hisatsune, who won the Cazoo Open de France to claim his maiden DP World Tour title at Le Golf National last year on his way to becoming the first Japanese player to be named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year, reclaimed the spot from Hoshino on March 11 with a top-20 finish at the Puerto Rico Open on the PGA TOUR.

But, in just his 11th start on the DP World Tour, Keita Nakajima became the third Japanese first-time winner in the last six months as he cruised to victory at the Hero Indian Open on Sunday.

  • READ MORE: Keita Nakajima: Five Things to Know
  • READ MORE: Keita Nakajima: What's in the Bag?

As a result, the 23-year-old – a former amateur World Number One – overtook both Hisatsune and Hoshino as he climbed to a career-high 78th in the OWGR and thereby moving into the top 60 men’s golfers on the OGR.

To highlight just how tight the competition is, the trio are separated by just 10 places in the OWGR: Nakajima (78), Hisatsune (86), Hoshino (88).

Takumi Kanya, another player with status on the DP World Tour this season, is also not to be ruled out after he won the Token Homemate on the Japan Golf Tour to make it two Japanese winners in the men's game over the weekend and climb to 108th in the world rankings.

Opportunity now knocks for Hisatsune, who will this week warm up for his maiden Major Championship appearance at next week’s Masters Tournament by playing in the Valero Texas Open on the PGA TOUR.

A dual member of both the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR, Hisatsune was awarded an invite to participate in the 88th playing of the year’s first Major in recognition of his breakthrough campaign last year.

By contrast, both Nakajima and Hoshino are not due to be in action again until the DP World Tour’s ISPS HANDA – CHAMPIONSHIP in their homeland from April 25-28.

By then, Hisatsune could well have regained the second qualification spot.

However, Nakajima, thanks to his victory in India last week, sits top of the Asian Swing - the third of five Global Swings on the 2024 Race to Dubai.

With just two counting events on the swing left, in Japan and China, he will be hopeful of capitalising on the opportunity of earning an exemption to compete at the U.S. PGA Championship.

The DP World Tour members who finish in positions one to three in the final Asian Swing standings (at the conclusion of the Volvo China Open on May 5) will be exempt into the second men's Major of the season at Valhalla Golf Club from May 16-19.

Nakajima became the fifth Japanese winner in DP World Tour history and his victory, the seventh by a Japanese player, emphasises the remarkable purple patch for his nation on Tour.

When Hisatsune won the Open de France in September just over 40 years after Isao Aoki had become the Tour's first winner from Japan, only Hideki Matsuyama's Masters Tournament win and two World Golf Championships triumphs had come in between. However, we now have multiple Japanese winners in the same season.

With less than 75 days to go until the qualification period for the men's golf competition at Paris 2024 ends on June 17, expect the race among Japanese golfers to go right down to the wire.

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — Romania and Bulgaria partially joined Europe’s ID-check-free travel zone on Sunday, marking a new step in the two countries’ integration with the European Union.

After years of negotiations to join the Schengen area, there is now free access for travelers arriving by air or sea from both countries. However, land border checks will remain in place due to opposition primarily from Austria which has long blocked their bid over illegal migration concerns.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed the change as a “huge success for both countries” and a “historic moment” for what is the world’s largest free travel zone.

The Schengen Area was established in 1985. Before Bulgaria and Romania’s admission, it was comprised of 23 of the 27 EU member countries, along with Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Around 3.5 million people cross an internal border each day.

Austria vetoed Romania and Bulgaria’s admission into the Schengen zone at the end of 2022 but allowed Croatia full accession. Bulgaria and Romania joined the EU in 2007 and Croatia in 2013.

Siegfried Muresan, a Romanian Member of the European Parliament, told The Associated Press that it is “an important first step” that will benefit millions of travelers annually.

“Bulgaria and Romania have been fulfilling all criteria for joining the Schengen area for years — we are entitled to join with the terrestrial border as well,” he said, adding that it “will offer additional arguments to the last EU member state that has been vetoing the full accession.”

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu called it a “well-deserved achievement” for Romania that he said will benefit citizens who can travel more easily and will bolster the economy.

“We have a clear and firmly assumed government plan for full accession to the Schengen Area by the end of the year,” he said.

The EU’s executive branch, the European Commission, has said for more than a decade that Romania and Bulgaria both meet the technical criteria for full accession, which requires unanimous support from their partners. Both countries have agreed to implement random security screening at airports and maritime borders to combat illegal migration and cross-border crime.

“Bulgaria’s full accession to Schengen will happen by the end of 2024,” Kalin Stoyanov, Bulgaria’s interior minister, told reporters on Sunday. “We showed and continue to show to illegal migrants that they should not take the road to Europe through Bulgaria.”

The lifting of border control is expected to facilitate operations at Bulgaria’s four international airports, which in 2023 saw nearly 11 million passengers, according to official data.

The airport in the capital, Sofia, serves as the biggest hub for Schengen flights which constitute 70% of all flights, airport representatives said.

While the eased regulations are expected to positively impact the tourism sector, members of the European Parliament have voiced concerns about long queues at the EU’s land borders and the impact it can have on trade in the bloc’s single market, as well as the health and safety of drivers.

Truck drivers are frequently stuck in kilometers-long queues at the borders of both Romania and Bulgaria. The Union of International Carriers in Bulgaria estimates delays cost the sector tens of millions of euros each year.

McGrath reported from Sighisoara, Romania.

What to know about Schengen zone, Europe’s ‘border-free’ travel system

Schengen countries allow international travelers to move freely across borders without additional passport checks.

disclosure tour europe

Europe’s “border-free” Schengen zone has added travel protections for two more countries, making it easier for more people to explore the southeastern region of the continent.

Romania and Bulgaria partially joined the Schengen area on Sunday, which means visitors who arrive by air or sea from other countries in the zone can cross their borders without an ID check. Land borders will remain subject to ID checks because of opposition led by Austria, which has long cited irregular migration as a concern when it comes to welcoming the two Eastern European states into the Schengen agreement. The move comes more than a decade after Romania and Bulgaria joined the European Union.

The European Commission had previously recommended that Bulgaria and Romania be admitted to join the Schengen zone, starting in 2011 and most recently in 2023. A combination of internal problems in the two countries and opposition from other countries citing irregular migration concerns — especially after the so-called “migrant crisis” of 2015 — meant they were caught in “Schengen purgatory” until now, according to Leon Züllig, a researcher and Schengen expert at Germany’s Justus Liebig University Giessen.

Travis Kelce, Who Is “Oozing Life Right Now,” Will Join Taylor Swift on Eras Tour in Europe

disclosure tour europe

By Kase Wickman

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce came in hot with an accurate if somewhat icky word choice when he told People this week that he is “oozing life right now.” It sounds messy but also fun.

Kelce may be in his off-season victory lap after winning his second consecutive Super Bowl (also his third in the last five years) with the Kansas City Chiefs, but those kajillion-dollar hands are anything but idle. He was caught relaxing with girlfriend Taylor Swift in the Bahamas recently , and he’ll join her on the upcoming European leg of her Eras Tour, he confirmed.

“You know I gotta go support,” he told Entertainment Tonight when asked if he’d be attending any of Swift’s upcoming shows across the pond.

While giving interviews ahead of his second Kelce Jam music festival in May, the tight end couldn’t help but gush about Swift.

“We’re both very career driven, we both love what we do, and so any chance that I can show my support to her and knowing that she’s shown me all the support in the world throughout the season, it’s just been an amazing experience getting to know Tay,” he told ET .

And when he says career-driven, he’s not just talking about drives on the football field: Kelce is dabbling in music with his festival (and his notorious celebration karaoke , natch), entertainment, co-producing Jean-Michel Basquiat documentary King Pleasure , and even preparing to open a steakhouse with Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes . Kelce said he’s inspired by watching Swift, who is the first artist to become a billionaire based solely on earnings from her music and performance, work.

“She’s so amazing at what she does, and to find that creativity, to see where she likes to pull things from and really just how she listens to music, is really very eye opening for me,” Kelce said.

He told People that “when you win the Super Bowl, all these doors open, and so I've just been going through all these open doors, experiencing life and just appreciating the people that have got me here and also staying high and meeting new faces.”

Then, inevitably, comes that ooze.

“I'm the happiest I've ever been,” he said. “I’m a guy that, some people say glass half full, half empty, and my glass is all the way full. It's all the way full.”

“I’m oozing life right now.”

As of Jan. 1, Croatia will use the EU’s common currency and join its borderless travel area, a milestone since gaining independence 31 years ago.

EU countries wrestle with a proposed ban on Russian tourists

Northern European Union countries are calling for a broad ban on tourist visas for Russian citizens, but Germany, among other EU members, demurs.

The lifting of border control is expected to facilitate operations at Bulgaria’s four international airports, which in 2023 saw nearly 11 million passengers, according to official data.

The airport in the capital, Sofia, serves as the biggest hub for Schengen flights, which constitute 70% of all flights, airport representatives said.
