Fansets release all good things combadge, titan pins coming, and much more.

FanSets have kicked off the new year with loads of new spins from Star Trek old and new, and lots of teases of what they're working on for later in the year - Including Titan merch and other Lower Decks releases, new ship pins, characters, and insignia badges. Continue below to check out their latest.

First up, and just released, is the latest in their rapidly growing insignia badge range, the All Good Things ... combadge , which was also seen in the alternate future in Voyager 's Endgame , and DS9 's The Visitor , and inspired the similar Picard badge .

In addition, the company will have revised editions of their black-bar and gold-bar Starfleet duty badge from the series; these new versions now feature the ridged border on the silver delta, a detail missing from the original releases.

From  Star Trek: Lower Decks , the animated Section 31 delta from Season 3’s “Crisis Point II: Paradoxus” will be joining the original  Lower Decks delta.

For the first time, FanSets is also adding rank pips to their lineup! They will be offering a five-pin  Next Generation -era pip set, which includes four solid pips and a black-centered half-rank pip pin (used in Lieutenant j.g. and Lieutenant Commander ranks).

They will also be adding the last rank from “Future Imperfect” to their collection, with the single-gold-bar Ensign rank badge rounding out the six-badge series. (Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander, Commander, Captain, and Admiral ranks are already available.)

Other new additions to their  Star Trek badge collection are magnetic editions of the classic Vulcan IDIC symbol, as well as the  Star Trek: Discovery mirror universe badges; each were previously available as pin-back products only.

Fansets will also continue their character-focused “glitter” series of pins, this time adding Spock, Will Riker, Garak two their offerings, along with a Paul Stamets + Hugh Culber dual-character pin.

For those of you who pick up the company’s “poker chip” pin each year, typically an exclusive to the Las Vegas convention, the 2023 release will focus on Quark from  Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — surrounded of course by dabo chips from his gaming tables.

Finally, FanSets is expanding their line of “MasterShips” display pieces — large magnet-back starship pieces which convert into a stand-up piece — with the classic  USS Enterprise , and the  USS Titan from  Star Trek: Picard.

While all of these new products (and more, most likely!) will debut at Creation Entertainment’s 57-Year Mission Tour convention on August 3, expect them to go up for purchase at FanSets’ website after the show concludes on first- and fifteenth-of-the-month scheduling.

FanSets Introduces Trek 50th Captains Pin Set

FanSets has just introduced a limited-edition 50th Anniversary Star Trek Captains Pin Set, which consists of pins depicting Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway and Archer, as well as a special 50th anniversary pin. Fans who pre-pay now for the entire set will, in September, receive Kirk and Picard pins, as well as the center pin. The Sisko, Janeway and Archer pins will be released at a rate of one per month between now and December, 2016.

For the collectors out there, they'll receive each pin as it is released and they'll receive the same number for each pin in the set. Enhancing their collectability, the pins will not be sold individually, but rather only as a set. So, if you purchase the set today and receive #73 of the center, Kirk and Picard pins, you will receive #73 of each subsequent captain's pin. FanSets will also date and time stamp all orders, and the pin set numbers will be assigned based on order of purchase. There is no requesting of a particular number. Once 1,701 pins of each design are manufactured, the molds will be destroyed, ensuring you have a true collectible set never to be produced again.

Each set of six pins (center, Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway and Archer) will sell for $120, plus $15 shipping, which will cover shipping for all five packages.

As previously reported, FanSets will offer limited-edition Star Trek pins and pin sets, with unique art and technology, designed to appeal to casual and serious Trek collectors alike. The pins will feature Star Trek characters, ships, actor autographs, sound effects and music, as well as cutting-edge, patent-pending Augmented Reality (AR) technology. FanSets will produce pins inspired by The Original Series , The Next Generation , Deep Space Nine , Voyager , Enterprise , The Animated Series and feature films 1-10, as well as pins celebrating Star Trek 's 50th anniversary and the special events planned during this celebration year. The collectible pins will be priced starting at $8.95 and FanSets will have 50 pins in their first assortment.

A Star Trek origin story movie is officially on the way from Andor and Black Mirror director

It's set to take place decades before 2009's Star Trek

Paramount has officially announced a new Star Trek movie – but it's not Star Trek 4.

The Untitled Star Trek Origin Story was unveiled at CinemaCon, with J.J. Abrams set to produce (H/T The Wrap ). The film will take place decades before 2009's Star Trek, with Andor's Toby Haynes set to direct and Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter author Seth Grahame-Smith set to pen the script. Plot details have yet to be released. Deadline first announced the film earlier this year.

Haynes directed the popular Black Mirror episode U.S.S Callister, which acts as a Star Trek parody. Black Mirror season 7 will feature a sequel to U.S.S Callister , though it has not yet been announced who will direct.

Paramount also stated that the origin pic would begin production later this year to make it in time for a 2025 theatrical release. Star Trek 4, the sequel to Abrams' 2009 flick, is still in development. WandaVision's Matt Shakman was previously attached to direct, but  left the project  in August 2022  around the same time he was announced as the new Fantastic Four director. Last month, Variety reported that Sucker Punch and Supernatural writer Steve Yockey would pen the fourth Star Trek film, which intends to bring back Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and the rest of the cast.

‘It’s A Different Energy’: Star Trek: Discovery’s Callum Keith Rennie Compares Working On The Paramount+ Show To Battlestar Galactica, And I See Where He’s Coming From

The actor's made another big splash in the sci-fi genre.

Star Trek: Discovery ’s final season is finally underway on the 2024 TV schedule , and there’s a newcomer who’d come aboard the main cast for this last hurrah. Callum Keith Rennie is starring as Rayner, a Kellerun Starfleet officer who thrived during wartime, but is having trouble adjusting to peace. Of course, Battlestar Galactica fans know Rennie well from having played Leoben, the #2 model Cylon, so with another major sci-fi credit on his resume, I was curious to learn how his experiences on the two shows compared to one another when I spoke to him for CinemaBlend. He described Discovery as having a “different energy” from Battlestar , and I see where he’s coming from.

Ahead of the premiere of Star Trek: Discovery Season 5’s third episode, titled “Jinaal,” to Paramount+ subscribers , I had the pleasure of chatting with Callum Keith Rennie about his experience in this massive corner of the sci-fi genre. The actor clarified what he meant by “different energy,” as well as shared what was similar about these professional experiences for him, with these words:

Battlestar was such a long [time ago]… I mean, to me it feels like such a long time ago. There’s a difference because it’s a different energy. Battlestar had a real earthy feel… there I am, playing a Cylon, but it felt earthy, the dialogue had an earthiness to it. But again, another space show with a wonderful group of people that you really care about everybody, everybody cared about each other. So that was interesting because Discovery had that, Battlestar had that, where everybody’s on everybody’s team and trying to build them up, and everybody does their best. It was very nice.

We Asked Star Trek: Discovery’s Mary Wiseman About The Starfleet Academy Series, And Her Response Is All I Need

While Battlestar Galactica certainly had its fair share of fantastical elements, Callum Keith Rennie’s use of the term “earthy” is pretty apt. The show may have followed the remnants of humanity trying to follow a new home on Earth as the Cylons hunted them down across the galaxy, but revival of the same-named 1978 series was definitely more grounded compared to a lot of other sci-fi projects. This included through the dialogue, and I can understand why Rennie brought that up, because with Star Trek, there’s a lot more technobabble thrown in.

That aside, Rennie also noticed that camaraderie between the starring characters as a big similarity between Star Trek: Discovery and Battlestar Galactica . The circumstances and challenges these respective crews have to face out in space are quite different, but in the midst of that, they’re all there to support one another through these difficult times. As far as Discovery goes, here’s hoping that Rayner gets on board with that particular program soon now that he’s Michael Burnham’s first officer. Things run a lot differently there compared to when he was captaining the Antares , and as seen in “Jinaal,” Rayner’s going to have to adjust the way he interacts with those he commands in order to be an effective leader on this title ship.

69-year-old man charged in death of beloved ‘Star Trek’ tour guide

MILTON, N.Y. (WRGB) – A 69-year-old man is facing manslaughter charges in the case of a missing New York man.

Friends of the victim, identified as Thomas Krider, said he was a beloved character in the “Star Trek” and entertainment community.

Ronald Rayher was arrested and arraigned on charges of manslaughter in the second degree and tampering with physical evidence.

Court documents said Rayher moved and hid personal effects belonging to Krider from the scene after his death.

Police in New York reported Krider missing on April 6.

The 40-year-old victim, also known as T.J. Green, was an employee and tour guide at the “Star Trek” set tour in Ticonderoga.

James Crawley, a friend of the victim, said Krider was also a talented Elvis Presley tribute artist and “he will be remembered for his kind and trusting soul and his warm, friendly demeanor.”

“We are devastated by his loss and will keep him close to our hearts,” Crawley said.

Rayher is being held on a $250,000 bond. He is due back in court on May 21.
