Following the hot off the press news that Jenny Eclair is joining the latest line up of stars set to feature in the 15 th series of the critically acclaimed global hit, Taskmaster, and a successful run which saw her perform 85 dates nationwide of her critically acclaimed stand up tour Sixty! (FFS!) , including two shows at London’s Duchess Theatre, due to popular demand, Jenny will be extending her show with an additional 26 dates, bringing Sixty PLUS! (FFS!) XXL Show with new material to the stage in 2023. Having reached 63 years of age by the time the autumn tour extension actually kicks off, Sixty PLUS! (FFS!) XXL Show will commence on 2 nd September 2023 in Southend, head for London’s West End in October and draw to a close in Dublin on 4 th and Belfast on 5 th November – the first time Jenny will be bringing the show to Ireland.  Tickets go on sale on Friday 2 nd December at 12 noon from jennyeclair.com

Now that it takes 20 minutes of scrolling down to find her DOB when she’s filling in forms online, should she celebrate or crawl into a hole? What will her 60’s hold for this 1960’s babe and is it a legal requirement to buy Nordic walking poles?

Jenny was the first woman to win the prestigious Perrier Award  and this latest tour follows her previous sell-out show,  How To be A Middle Aged Woman (Without Going Insane),  which toured the UK and had a run at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival .

  She has many TV and radio credits to her name, most recently guest hosting on Countdown (Channel 4), presenting a second of  Drawers Off  (Channel 4) and Craftivism (BBC Four).  Other TV credits include the  Grumpy Old Women series  (BBC Two),  The Great Celebrity Bake Off For Stand Up To Cancer  (Channel 4),  Loose Women  (ITV),  Splash  (ITV) and  I’m a Celebrity  (ITV). Her radio series of monologues  Little Lifetimes  (BBC Radio 4) has been commissioned for a seventh series. West End theatre credits include  Steaming, Mum’s the Word  and   both  Grumpy Old Women Live  and  Chin Up Britain , co-written by Eclair and Holder.

She currently co-hosts the  Older and Wider  podcast with  Grumpy Old Women  producer Judith Holder, having written the internationally successful  Grumpy Old Women Live  stage shows together.

As an author, Older and Wider, A Survivor’s Guide to the Menopause  made  The Sunday Times Best Sellers List  in the summer of 2020 and is now out in paperback.  Jenny is also a  Sunday Times  top ten bestselling author of the critically acclaimed novels  Camberwell Beauty ,  Having a Lovely Time  and  Life, Death and Vanilla Slices , as well as the Richard and Judy bestseller,  Moving , the short story collection,  Listening In  and Inheritance .  Her brand new book aimed at young adults, The Writing on the Wall was released in paperback over the summer.

Jenny Eclair announces 2024 tour

...to tie in with her new memoir Jokes, Jokes, Jokes

Jenny Eclair has announced a new tour to coincide with her forthcoming memoir Jokes, Jokes, Jokes.

The comic has announced more than 40 dates, starting on October 5 in Henley  and ending in Norwich on March 26 next year.

UPDATE 30/4/24: This tour has been pushed back and now all dates are in 2025

She said: ‘I’m delighted to announce that I shall be dragging my old carcass back on the road with a brand new show, and hopefully finding that cardigan I left in Toddington Service station last year.’

Like the book, Jokes, Jokes, Jokes Live! covers her life from drama school – where she mostly spent her tiime drinking cider and eating sausage rolls – sleeping with men who looked like they lived under a carpet, punk poetry, anorexia, bedsit misery, waitressing and not really having a clue about anything, to being the first woman to win the Perrier Award, becoming a mother, author, grumpy old woman, podcaster and nana.

Promoters Avalon issued the tongue-in-cheek content warning that ‘punk poetry, animal impressions and baritone nursery rhyme singing may feature’.

The tour follows Eclair’s last show Sixty! (FFS!), about turning that landmark age, and a series of live performances of the Older And Wider podcast she hosts with Judith Holder.

Last week Chortle reported how former Taskmaster contestant Eclair ’s memoirs Jokes, Jokes, Jokes would be published by Sphere – also in October.

Publisher Cath Burke, deputy managing director of Little, Brown Book Group, said: ‘As brilliant in writing as she is in person, Jenny’s memoir is the book I’ve always wanted to read. Outrageous, eye-opening, jaw-dropping and so very, very funny, you’re going to have one helluva good time with Jenny in this book.’

Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10am on Friday,.

Jenny Eclair Upcoming Tour and Memoir!

Jenny Eclair, the celebrated comedian and author, is set to enrapture audiences with her forthcoming memoir, “Jokes, Jokes, Jokes,” scheduled for release this autumn. Published by Sphere, the book promises to unveil the intricacies of Eclair’s journey, chronicling her childhood, career evolution, and the evolving landscape of women in comedy.

The Memoir Unveiled

In an interview with The Bookseller, Eclair expressed her enthusiasm, stating,

I’m delighted to bare even more of my soul to the general public. Writing Jokes, Jokes, Jokes has been a joy, and not just because it’s nice to sit down now and then, but also because it’s good to get it all down before I forget big chunks of it.

With the subtitle “My Very Funny Memoir,” the memoir poses the intriguing question: “How did little Jenny Hargreaves become Jenny Eclair and elbow her way into the male-dominated world of 1980s stand-up?”

The book promises to delve into her roots, including her upbringing as the daughter of Major Derek Hargreaves and June Hargreaves, navigating through various life experiences, drama school, struggles with anorexia, and her pioneering role as the first woman to win the prestigious Perrier Award.

The tour, aptly named “Jokes, Jokes, Jokes Live!,” mirrors the thematic content of her memoir, encapsulating her colourful life journey – from drama school antics to her triumphs in comedy and beyond.

Reflecting on her tour announcement, Eclair humorously quips,

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.
