mario kart tour spieler level

There are three parts you can choose before each track: drivers, karts, and gliders. You can see which drivers, karts, and gliders you have in the menu, with each of the three having their own section in the menu. Choosing the right ones can help you place higher and get more points on the tracks. Unlike other Mario Kart games, drivers, karts, and gliders have the same speed and stats as each other. Instead, they can differ in favored courses, points, special skills, and skill levels. The parts can be unlocked by pulling them from Pipes, getting enough Grand Stars to accept them from gifts, or buying them with in-game coins from the Shop. You can find the details of each of the aspects below for individual drivers, karts, and gliders in the menu.

Additionally, more drivers, karts, and gliders can be added to the game in future updates. Quite a few have already been revealed in official media or appeared in the closed beta testing.

Drivers, karts, and gliders come in three rarities: Normal, Super, and High-End. The more rare the part is, the more points they give, and the more favored courses they have. High-End parts are especially rare in pipes and expensive in the Shop. In return, High-Ends give the most points and tend to have more favored courses.

mktInfo

Favored Course

Each driver, kart, and glider have favored courses where they have an advantage. Each course splits them into three tiers, one on each row before each course, with higher tiers getting a larger bonus. You can see which courses the part favors on the menu. Higher-rarity parts tend to have more favored courses. The spotlight parts of the tour that can be found in Pipes especially have more favored courses on their tour. Keep in mind that courses can change with the new tours every two weeks, which means their amount of favored courses can change as well.

Drivers on the bottom row can only get one item per Item Box. Drivers that favor that course can appear in the middle row with two items per Item Box, or the few in the top row can get three items per Item Box. Drivers with three item slots also have a chance of getting an Item Frenzy, giving them invincibility (much like the Star from or Mario Kart games) and unlimited use of one item for a few seconds. Also, drivers favor courses in the cup of their own namesake. (For example, Mario favors courses in the Mario Cup.)

Karts that favor the course on the top row have an x2 bonus points multiplier and the ones in the middle row get an x1.5 multiplier. Karts on the bottom row just have an x1 multiplier.

Gliders that favor the course have an x3 combo bonus multiplier and get a big combo-time boost. With a combo-time boost, there is more time allowed between combos before they reset, making it easier to extend combos. Gliders that favor the course on the middle row get an x2 combo bonus multiplier and a combo-time boost. Gliders on the bottom row again just have an x1 multiplier.

Every driver, kart, and glider has an amount of points they give at the start of the race. You can upgrade the points they give by either gaining experience after races or using point-boost tickets on them. Higher-rarity parts give more points. The points each part gives can be maxed out, with higher rarity parts having a higher max point cap.

Special Skill

Drivers, karts, and gliders have a special skill. Drivers have a special item they can get from Item Boxes, and only a few characters can use each special item. Special skills for karts will increase the time and points earned for performing actions such as Slipstreams, Rocket Starts, Mini-Turbos, Jump Boosts, and driving over Dash Panels. Gliders can increase your chances of getting certain items from Item Boxes.

Skill Level

Each driver, kart, and glider has a skill level. You can increase the level by unlocking duplicates from either Pipes, the Shop, or Gifts. Level-boost tickets can level up skill, too. They all start all Level 1, and be upgraded to Level 6. Levelling up drivers can increase the chance of a Frenzy Levelling up karts raises a multiplier for all bonus points earned. Levelling up gliders increases the time you have to combo. Levelling up any of the three can give a higher bonus-points boost as well.

Mario Kart Tour – How to Level Up Characters

Image of AOTF Staff

Everything in Mario Kart Tour has a level associated with it.  Whether that’s your character, kart, or glider, everything can be leveled up.  Leveling up your characters allows you to earn different bonuses and rewards in-race which will make you a better overall player.  There are some different ways to level your characters in Mario Kart Tour but your primary method of doing so will be done through level-boost tickets.

So where do you get these tickets and how do you apply them?  Let’s start with what are the level boost tickets and where do you get them.  The best way to get Level Boost tickets is through playing the game and earning Tour Rewards as Level Boost tickets are one of the rewards in this pool.  (Gold Pass subscribers will get more tour gifts than non subs so you’ll definitely get more level boosts as a paying player).  However, you can still get them when playing for free, it’ll just take more time.

Level boost tickets can also show up in the shop.  So check back as the inventory rotates with new items.  Not all boost tickets are the same though.  Make sure you’re purchasing level boost tickets for the characters and not for the glider or kart.  Each has it’s own specific type of level boost tickets.  The one you’re looking for to level up characters is the one with Mario’s head on it.

Once you’ve got a level ticket you can simply head into the character menu under “Drivers”, select which driver you want to level-up and then click on the Skill Box.  This will open up the level-up screen where you can apply any tickets that you’ve earned from Tour Rewards or purchases.

How to level up Karts, Gliders and Drivers in Mario Kart Tour

Image of Aidan O'Brien

Leveling up your drivers and karts in Mario Kart Tour is important if you want to get the most out of them and remain competitive when the difficulty steps up. In this guide we will show you how to level up karts and drivers in Mario Kart Tour.

Mario Kart Tour is filled with all sorts of karts and drivers, and you can level them up to improve their bonuses. Doing so will keep you competitive as the tours progress and become more difficult.

How To Level Up Your Drivers And Karts

To level up your drivers, gliders and karts, you need to use tickets. From the main menu, click on either drivers, karts, or gliders. From there, select the item you wish to level up. You will need the appropriate ticket, depending on if you want to level up a driver, glider, or kart.

Tickets can be obtained as prizes from some of the tours, or by purchasing them in the shop. Using a ticket will then level up the item in question.

Leveling up drivers will increase their chances of starting a Frenzy. Frenzy mode is when you get three of the same items in your three item slots at the same time. This will make you temporarily invincible, and give you unlimited use of the item for a short time.

Leveling up your kart will increase the number of bonus points that you earn, making Grand Star farming easier with that kart. Leveling up your Glider will increase your combo time.

Leveling up will also increase your Action Points for each driver, kart and glider. Action Points are added to your stage score. As you use drivers, karts and gliders in races, you will also increase your Action Points based on the position you finish.

What is the Player Level Cap in Mario Kart Tour? Answered

Mario Kart Tour is a widely popular gacha based kart racing game that has its fair share of game-related jargons. There are a plethora of features and game mechanics in action that many new players get overwhelmed by it quite easily. A good example is the existence of two different level systems, Player Level and Ranked Level.

In this article, we will talk about what is player level in general. And the current player level cap in Mario Kart Tour .

What is Player Level in Mario Kart Tour?

Player Level is a form of progression system that exists in Mario Kart Tour . It is the basis of how long you have been playing Mario Kart Tour and how many single-player races and challenges you have cleared.

Similar to any other level progression system, the Player Level in Mario Kart Tour requires more Exp to level-up as rank goes up.

Player Level Cap in Mario Kart Tour

At the time of writing this article, the current Player Level Cap in Mario Kart Tour is 150 .

Mario Kart Tour players gain around 450 Exp each day, and if they have gold pass membership, then the count is around 900 Exp. Because of the gacha nature of the game, getting player level beyond 125 is a daunting task.

Even if you play the game on a daily basis, the daily Exp and Coins cap will not let you progress quickly.

Apart from that, players should also keep in mind that Player Level Cap in  Mario Kart Tour  has increased in the past. And it will increase in future updates.

Mario Kart Tour  is a kart racing action game currently available on Android and iOS platforms.

Mario Kart Tour: tricks, tips, and how collect all the characters and karts

Here's how to master Mario Kart Tour's gameplay

Mario Kart Tour

Mario Kart Tour is a mobile version of the popular and long-running Mario Kart series, released in late 2019 for Android and iOS smartphones, and it's proven popular ever since.

The main Mario Kart Tour game is centered around the race seasons mode, which offers a variety of incentives to keep you coming back to race for each new season. While you don't race other real players live in this mode, your device will still require an internet connection so you can play.

Since launch, an online multiplayer mode has also been added to Mario Kart Tour, so you can compete in live online races against other drivers from around the world.

The basics How to win races and earn points How to win multiplayer How to collect gold coins How to collect rubies How to collect Grand Stars How to unlock all characters, karts and gliders How to level up your gear Should you buy Gold Pass?

Plus, the selection of playable characters, karts, gliders and courses have been greatly expanded since launch, providing you with new ways and places to race.

While Mario Kart Tour is centered around a very simple premise - winning races - it can get very complicated. There are three different types of currency that do different things, the characters, karts and gliders have different stats that you can improve in different ways, and there are a few mechanics in the races that can make the difference between winning and losing.

We've come up with this comprehensive list detailing the different parts of the game,  helping you work out how to win races both online and offline, how to collect and spend the different types of in-game currency, and how to bulk out your collection of characters, karts and gliders, as well as level them all up.

Hopefully soon, you'll be decked out with all the best kit, winning every race and racking up huge amounts of points.

What is Mario Kart Tour? The basics, explained

mario kart tour spieler level

Most of what you'll be doing in Mario Kart Tour is racing. You'll be charging around courses collecting items and coins, and (hopefully) overtaking your opponents, while finding shortcuts, using those items to get ahead and taunting your digital opponents.

Most races are against AI bots (albeit ones with player-sounding names), but after Mario Kart Tour's launch a multiplayer mode was added that lets you play against real people online.

Outside the races, the game is organized by Tours which last two weeks. These dictate the theme of lots of the courses as well as any new character costumes and karts available during the season.

Each tour is a series of 'Cups', each one consisting of three core races and a bonus race. At the start of the tour only some of the Cups are available to play, but one new one opens each day up to a total of 12.

If you just want to drive cartoonish karts and races around cartoonish tracks, you can ignore Tours and Cups, and many of the intricate details of character levels, score multipliers and the currencies too, but if you want to experience all facets of the game, and collect all the characters and pieces of gear, it's worth playing through the Tours.

How to win races and earn loads of points

There are some key things to remember in order to win your Mario Kart Tour races.

Firstly, learn how to drift. This is an invaluable skill that lets you turn corners quicker and earn small boosts as you do, and when you get really good you can use drifting to quickly shift to the side to pick up coins and item boxes.

Drifting is key

When you're drifting, look at your tires - a blue flame will appear, when you let go, you'll get a small boost forward - gold and purple flames respectively will give you longer charges, but you have to drift for longer to get them.

You can't fall off the map in Mario Kart Tour, so feel free to drift more aggressively than you otherwise would. You can drift quicker by moving your finger nearer to the side of the screen you're drifting too - this'll help you earn boost quicker, but you'll turn the corner faster too.

Moving your finger the other way will be good if you're turning a wider corner (or aren't turning a corner, just drifting cleverly to build boost), as it stops you turning as quickly.

Next, you can easily get a boost when you're starting by holding down the screen on the countdown when '2' appears. Long time Mario Kart series fans will know this already as it's a stalwart feature of the games, and it's really good for starting the race ahead of everyone else (except in later CCs or multiplayer where everyone else does it too).

Learn how to earn boosts, and where they are on each track, as they can help you get ahead. Jumps, however minor, will give you boosts, as will drifting, certain areas of floor (shown by arrows pointing forwards), and some rewards in item boxes.

Finally, be smart about shortcuts and ramps off the side of the course, as not all of them will actually help you.

Many will actually slow you down in order to get to them, like ramps in grassy areas, so only approach these if you have a boost to get over the slow patch, and some are actually longer detours that offer more coins or item boxes instead. If coming first is your goal, usually following the track is ideal - but sometimes you don't want to win.

Points are key in Mario Kart Tour

In Mario Kart Tour winning isn't the whole point of each race - but it is the most fun part of it. You see, you're given a score after each race that takes into account three things - the points of your character and gear (these can be leveled up, which we'll explore later on), what position you came in the race, and how many points you earned through tricks in the race.

Position is easy - you get more points for winning than you do coming second place, and more for second than third, and so on. The amount of points you get for coming each position depends on your level and what CC - what difficulty of race - you're in.

50CC is pretty slow and easy, and thus the points are lower, 100CC is medium difficulty and speed, and 150CC is hardest and fastest, with more points awarded as a result. When you get Gold Pass, you can play 200CC too.

Your gear is something that's predetermined, based on which character, kart and glider you choose, and what points level they're at. Don't worry, we'll explain all about Base Points later on.

Finally, there are Bonus Points which are points you earn over the course of the race. There are many actions that earn these like collecting coins, hitting opponents with items and drifting well - the Mario Wiki has a more succinct breakdown - and if you pick the right kart you'll get a multiplier on these.

You can get combos during the race if you earn Bonus Points for different things in a row, which is a really great way to collect more points, and the glider you pick can make the combo even more effective.

Together your Bonus Points, Base Points and Position Points will create your score for each course, which is a way of comparing your skills to your friends. You also want to get points because this score will reward you some extra coins (one for each thousand points) and Grand Stars, depending on how well you performed.

Mario Kart Tour: how to win in multiplayer

Points work the same way in multiplayer as they do in the offline game, and you should utilize similar tactics to win, but there are some extra things to bear in mind.

First, drifting isn't just important in online multiplayer - it's vital. Everyone does it, and you generally won't have a chance at winning if you aren't a master at it.

When you're playing 'offline' you can generally use items whenever you want, because there are so many other racers you're bound to hit one, but there are often fewer players in a multiplayer race, so it's worth being clever about when you use items.

Only throw a red shell if there's definitely someone ahead of you, and if you're first try and save a banana until someone's directly behind you. It's always worth saving an item to act as your shield as well, because most of the time if someone attacks you, it'll bounce off an item you have in reserve.

What are gold coins and how do you collect them?

mario kart tour spieler level

Coins are the basic currency in Mario Kart Tour, and you'll be spending them in the shop on new characters, karts and gliders. Generally basic karts and gliders cost 500 coins, while characters cost 800, and that price goes up for gold or purple-tier as well as rarer pieces of gear. Coins can be collected in a variety of ways, but many of them are pretty slow.

Firstly, you can collect physical coins in races, and generally you'll pick up between five and 15 depending on the course. You lose coins if you're hit, so try and make sure that doesn't happen much, though this works for your opponents too so if you play aggressively you can pick more up.

In addition, as we've already said, you get a course bonus based on points, though this won't net you many coins.

Each 'Cup' in the game consists of three levels and a bonus round with different rules - some of these bonus rounds can be particularly lucrative for picking up coins, so always make sure to do them.

Leveling up is an easy way to get coins in Mario Kart Tour, as you tend to get 100 coins every time you level up in the game. This will happen naturally as you play, and will keep your bank account getting bigger.

Another way of getting 100-coin jackpots is by completing challenges (you can find these from the menu) as when you complete a line of the multiplayer or standard challenges, you'll get a 100-coin combo care package.

When you're playing online, if you ever find yourself waiting around for other players to join, you're actually slowly amassing coins - look at the animation at the bottom, as this tells you how many you've earned. You can get up to 100 a day just through waiting for online games.

Finally, Coin Rush is a special mode accessed in the shop where you play a race as Gold Mario, picking up as many coins as possible, and if you play well you can amass upwards of 300 coins just from the race.

To play this mode, you need to spend rubies, the second form of currency, which we'll look at next.

What are rubies and how do you collect them?

mario kart tour spieler level

Rubies are Mario Kart Tour's premium currency, and they're much harder to acquire, but they have a bigger variety of uses.

You can use them to play Coin Rush and launch the Peach Pipe to win a random selection of characters, karts and gliders (this is basically a lootbox), and this latter method is the best for getting new gear.

Rubies (or gems, as some call them) are generally hard to acquire, but you can easily buy them if you want. This is what 'premium currency' tends to mean in mobile gaming, and if you're enjoying Mario Kart Tour you can put money in to it to get rubies for the Peach Pipe. Saying that, there are some ways of getting them in-game too.

The best way of winning rubies is through the weekly rankings. Each week, a certain cup will play host to a ranking, where you'll be lumped with 20 strangers, and ranked by how many points you get in the three races of the cup. The person with the most points overall gets 20 rubies, second place gets 15, third gets 10 and players 4-6 all get five.

If you're good at the game you can get loads of rubies easily this way, however depending on your performance you get bumped into higher tiers, competing with better players, so each week it'll be harder to win that top spot.

There are other ways to get rubies though. One is through challenges, as completing these will net you one, two or three rubies depending on the challenge, and these will slowly add up.

Finally, you can get rubies as a reward for earning Grand Stars in each tour. The Grand Stars you earn in each tour slowly earn you reward boxes as well as access to free Peach Pipe uses, and sometimes these boxes can get you some rubies. Want to know more about Grand Stars? Well good, because that's the next section of this article.

What are Grand Stars and how do you collect them?

mario kart tour spieler level

When you're on the Mario Kart Tour menu, you can see your coins and rubies at the top but you can't see your grand stars, so some players don't realize they're actually a key part of the rewards you get as part of a Tour.

On the main Tour menu, if you scroll along past the cups, you'll see various Tour Gift icons and Pipes, each one with a figure of grand stars next to it. As you play the Tours, and collect stars, you'll earn some of these, though it's worth pointing out looking at these figures on the reward icons is the only way you can figure out how many stars you've actually got.

It's not too hard to collect Grand Stars when you work out what they are and how to collect them. The main way of getting them is in each race, as you'll earn up to five depending on how many points you score, although three is the max in bonus levels.

Generally if you don't lose horribly, you can get three or four stars per level with the gear you start the game with, but to reach that fifth star you'll need a fair mix of skill and top-tier gear. You can replay races once you get better gear to improve your scores.

You can collect one Grand Star per day by completing a daily challenge, which you'll be notified of when you turn the app on each morning. One challenge appears each day, though you can store up to three, but then you’ll need to complete one to get any more.

Finally, some of the challenges reward Grand Stars, not rubies - these are the Tour Challenges, which reset every time the tour changes. You'll probably collect a fair few of these naturally over the course of a tour, but if not you can check them out from the menu to find which you missed. It's worth pointing out half the challenges only unlock after the tour has been running for a week, so keep checking back to the app.

How to collect all the characters, karts and gliders in Mario Kart Tour

mario kart tour spieler level

Now you've worked out how to collect all the different forms of currency, it's time to look at how you can collect as many characters, karts and gliders as possible, so you can get more points and in turn win more races and collect more coins.

The reason you'll want plenty of different types of gear - well, other than so you can play as your favorites - is because each one has a few 'favored' race tracks, and the higher-level pieces of gear have more. Using the optimal piece of gear can transform your racing experience.

A character will offer you three items instead of one from an item box on their favored courses, and two items in a selection of other courses. Karts will give you a 1.5x multiplier on bonus points on some courses and a 2x multiplier on their favored ones.

Gliders will give you 2x combo bonus for some courses, and a more lenient time restriction between tricks before your combo is dropped, and on some others they'll offer you 3x bonus and an even longer combo-time boost.

The easiest way to collect gear is to buy them with real money - certain timely karts, characters and gliders can be bought in bundles, which sometimes include rubies too, and this can be the quickest way to get rarer items. You can earn plenty of things through gameplay though, so you don't always need to spend real cash.

One of the best ways to get gear is through Peach Pipes - when you spend 5 rubies you get a random character, kart or glider, though you can spend 45 rubies to get 10 spins - we'd recommend saving up your rubies to be able to do this, as that works out as you getting one for free.

The other way to buy items is through the main store, which lets you buy them with gold coins, though the prices can be a little steep, especially for higher-tier items.

When you start playing Mario Kart Tour, you're only allowed to see one row of store items at once (so one character, one glider, and one kart), but when you reach level 7, then 12, you unlock a second and third row. We'd recommend saving your money for then, so you can see more of your options, and also because these subsequent rows tend to offer rarer items.

The items in the shop change daily, but given the huge number of characters, karts and gliders in the game, it'll take you a long time to unlock them all, especially given the price.

How to improve characters, karts and gliders

mario kart tour spieler level

Characters, karts and gliders have two different metrics to show how well they perform - a score, which indicates how many points you get per race just for choosing it, and a level, which functions as a form of multiplier for bonus points in races.

There's only one way to improve the level, that second stat, and that's by getting duplicate pieces of gear in the shop or peach pipes. Since the former is random, you may sometimes feel irked that you picked a duplicate instead of getting an entirely new piece of gear, so the level up and subsequent point multiplier might make that a little bit less galling.

It's easy to improve the base score of a character, kart or glider in Mario Kart Tour. Simply using the gear in a race will grant it some experience points which help it increase levels, so a trusty kart or your favored character can quickly become a high level powerhouse.

If you've just drawn a new super-rare character but they’re a much lower level than your favorites, you can use vouchers to level them up without using them. These Tickets, as they're called, can be gained in a huge variety of ways, including daily log-in bonuses, tour rewards, challenge rewards and more.

Using Tickets on a piece of gear will grant it some experience points, so if you use a few you can quickly use them to get your new character, kart or glider to a high level.

It's worth pointing out there's a max base level dictated by which piece of equipment it is (characters can have more than karts or gliders) and the rarity (purple items have a higher limit than gold, which has a higher limit than the base pieces of kit).

When you have a top-level purple item, especially a top-level character, kart and glider all in use at once, you're going in to races with 2,800 base points already, which will ensure you plenty of grand stars and gold coins, and you'll get even more if any of those have high levels from duplicates.

What is the Gold Pass and should I buy it?

Mario Kart Tour has a season-pass-style item called the Gold Pass, which you can buy monthly if you really want to get the most out of the game. It gives you a few extra rewards and unlocks a new game mode.

Gold Pass gives you extra gift rewards in tours, including sometimes gold-tier and purple-tier character, karts and gliders, as well as extra rubies - frequent players will find it a lucrative way of boosting their gear count.

A new round of challenges is available to Gold Pass members too, which gives you an extra way of earning grand stars to help you get those extra rewards.

Finally, the Gold Pass unlocks 200CC mode, which is a faster and harder version of racing which ensures you more position points.

If you play Mario Kart Tour frequently and are invested in getting as many characters, karts and gliders as possible, Gold Pass will likely help you get them faster, and let you enjoy them more.

However if you just like to pick up Mario Kart Tour for some fun racing action from time-to-time, you might not feel the need to get Gold Pass.

It’s worth pointing out there's a two-week free trial for Gold Pass so if you're not sure whether it's for you, you can test it out for free.

Oh COME ON!!! You gotta be kidding!!!

  • LinktotheFuture

If the level caps aren't increased, then the game will stop making money and will end.

I like the game enough to accept this inevitable change, for now anyway.

  • blindsquirrel

You do know it is called Mario kart tour. Not Nintendo’s mobile Mario kart.

Reminder that raising the level cap only harms players, and already takes an absurd amount of gacha pulls to max out even one high-end item.

It’s a pity about all the micro transactions shenanigans, because tour has some really good ideas in there, stuff I’d love to see the next entry do.

Primarily, the multiple variants of the same courses… They have a variation of Kalamari desert that actually requires you to drive on the train tracks… that’s really cool!

Or you the yoshis circuit reverse track, that has you drive over the middle of the island, so that half of the track you actually aren’t driving reverse at all, but the right way, before crossing over and finishing the lap backwards.

There’s some cool stuff in there. I just hope it’s not ignored because the public hate against the (admittedly terrible) micro transactions. Not the worst MTS I’ve seen… there’s far, far, far worse out there, but it’s still not good

I can kinda see why Nintendo went down the gacha route (besides, y’know, money).

They tried doing things less… scumbagily… with Mario run.

But people didn’t buy that, so they reverted to what has been proven to work.

Would be nice if they found an alternate method, but oh well.

The racing part is pretty fun. Although this does have some horribly unfair moments of “getting pelted by OP items, and then getting nothing useful when you’re in last”.

"Mario Kart" and "level cap" are two phrases that should never be in the same sentence or headline together, and shame on those who would put them there (which technically includes myself for bothering to click and write this comment ).

Mario Kart Tour, the game that keeps on taking!

Yet it's never taken a penny or cent from me, still had loads of fun with it.

Mario kart tour. The game that keeps giving.

@johnvboy Well I'm happy for you there.

Only pointing out that you do not have to spend money to play the game and have some fun with it. and if people want to spend it's up to them at the end of the day, who are we to judge.

@johnvboy My problem isn't that people are enjoying the game without spending money, it's that Nintendo made Mario Kart into a gacha heavy game to begin with. People enjoying it despite that doesn't suddenly make it better, in my opinion, and these types of games make me fear for the future of the industry where gacha mechanics will become more and more common and at some point maybe even get the upper hand.

I hope I'm just worrying too much on that front but I for one am not going to support any such game, even the free components of such games.

I do apologize if I complain about it too much though, I'm genuinely glad people are still able to enjoy them despite aforementioned worries.

I think we have discussed this many times before, and the mobile market has a different revenue stream to traditional console games, although a lot of the traditional console games have employed DLC and micro transactions etc for ages now.

It is down to personal choice and perspective, as If I say to my wife and daughter for example, that I am spending $50 or so on a single game, they will feel this is expensive, but will have little issue spending little bits money on Roblox etc, of course these small amounts soon mount up, but are never seen in the same vein as one large upfront payment.

And Nintendo did try and go down a different route with the Mobile Mario run game, but it was clear the mobile market does not like that kind of structure.

As for the mobile mechanics coming into more traditional games, I am afraid they are already here, but I doubt we will ever get to a stage where it's only more simple mobile type entertainment that's available.

@johnvboy yes me too, actually think this is a gatcha game done right in a way.. i get to play a few levels on work or something, get some new drivers... and it's free..

i think those games are mainly a problem when they stop you from playing become some articial thing has to be full again... (and saw some beta footage recently, where nintendo was exploring that road before releasing this version)

Still wondering jow mario run failed so badly though.. it's a nice mario-esque game, with lots of content and modes.. stupid that our expectations of a mobile game are so fundamentally f***d by the different businessmodels...

@romanista ,

Mario run just does not fit into the mobile pay structure.

@johnvboy I hope you're right on that but this whole thing is still worrying, and I still don't like the road these games are taking either. It really feels like they're trying to milk the fans for every penny, even if you can play the game for free.

But eh, it's whatever at this point I guess. Hope you can keep enjoying the game either way!

Kinda hope they keep updating Tour with more tracks until there's enough for Nintendo to release a second Booster Course Pass, and then we have virtually every single Mario Kart course in 8 Deluxe, lol.

I think Nintendo tend to do DLC the right way, and it's normally pretty good value.

@Fath Two phrases that should never be in the same sentence are: Mario Kart. Level Caps.

See, it's easy!

@johnvboy it takes time. Time is money.

Gacha Mechanics are the reason I hate XenoBlade Chronicles 2!

@johnvboy Agreed, but that still doesn't excuse their mobile shenanigans IMHO. But I do love their regular game DLC 9 times out of 10.

Hi everyone, I have played Mario Kart Tour since the 2nd tour (Oct. 2019) and have been a gold pass player since Feb. 2020. I like the game and play it almost every day. I am not terribly good at the game but I have fun with it anyway. I am kind of sad the level 8 came out so soon since we just got level 7 this time last year but it think it is okay that it happened. I just hope that level 9 is at least a year and a half away at this point. I understand that some people will quit the game or cancel their gold pass buy that's their opinion. Have a good day everyone.

Nintendo needed to widen their revenue streams, for two reasons, one the money obviously, and secondly more brand awareness, I do not mind them diversifying as long as it does not detract from their core business, at the moment they have the right balance.

Can't wait for the Mario kart tour tracks to be available in Mario Kart 8 deluxe.

@johnvboy True, but I must admit it's also a little painful to see all that great content being added to the mobile games that seemingly will not be added to the core games.

The tracks coming to MK8D is great, but there's also other stuff like all those characters and costumes, reverse tracks, trick versions of the tracks, and what have you, which, so far, seems to be entirely locked behind the mobile gacha game, and that just doesn't sit right with me.

Regardless, I can't wait for the MKTour tracks to be in MK8D! I may not be a fan of the mobile game but the tracks always seemed fun at least so I'll be looking forward to playing those for the first time.

I suspect Nintendo will be saving stuff for the next Mario Kart game on the Switch 2.

@johnvboy I would hope that's the case and I would be perfectly fine with that, and if it does include all the cool stuff that Tour introduced (or at least, most of it), then I'll feel better about Tour existing alongside it too.

By the way, love your new Avatar, big Yoshi fan myself.

No idea why people surprised of decisions to promote mobile Gacha route for this game. You literally have FE Heroes that is all about this.

I don't mind the level cap increase if Nintendo would just balance it back out by increasing the daily coin limit, give more opportunities to earn tickets and reduce the amount of tickets required to level up.

Now it's going to be a slow painful grind to level 8, worse if you are F2P. This is how Nintendo convert FP2 players to Gold pass members. And let's not forget Nintendo quietly reduced the chance of getting high end tickets in the daily shop from 10% to 6%. Really scummy of Nintendo to do that.

Honestly I'd rather it stay the way it is. I just wanna max out at least ONE character

List of tours in Mario Kart Tour

The tours in Mario Kart Tour are the main events of the game, each one consisting of a number of cups and lasting for two weeks, with a new tour starting between every other Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the time zone. To progress through a tour, players collect Grand Stars by achieving points in the cups. Interspersed between the cups are tour gifts and free pipe launches that reward the player with various items. For the duration of a tour, the player can complete two sets of challenges (three if the player has a Gold Pass) to earn extra Grand Stars, although the second set is not available until the second week of the tour. Most tours introduce new content to the game, such as new drivers, karts , gliders , and courses.

Unlocking criteria [ edit ].

Up until the Mario Bros. Tour , the next cup would not be unlocked until the latest cup had been cleared, regardless of whether or not the player had the required number of Grand Stars, although tour gifts were available immediately after meeting the required count. From the Baby Rosalina Tour onward, tour gifts are still unlockable, although all cups no longer require Grand Stars to unlock, meaning they can be played in any order.

In all tours, there is a time availability system for the later cups. Up until the 2019 Halloween Tour , by default, the ninth and tenth cups of each tour were not available until the second day, the eleventh and twelfth not until the fourth day, the thirteenth and fourteenth not until the sixth day, and the fifteenth and sixteenth not until the second week, although players could unlock them faster by using quick tickets . From the 2019 Paris Tour onward, the availability time was changed to one cup being unlocked every successive day (the ninth cup on the second day, the tenth on the third, and so on). From the Baby Rosalina Tour onward, the eighth cup was the first unlockable cup instead due to the reduced number of cups.

Also introduced in the Baby Rosalina Tour, the player can unlock at least two free pipe launches from the first week's pipe with Grand Stars. From the Wild West Tour to the 2022 Anniversary Tour , the second half of the free pipe launches are from the second week's pipe (except in the New Year's 2021 Tour , where only the last two were from the second week's pipe). Following the removal of weekly pipes after the 2022 Anniversary Tour, free pipe launches for non-spotlight items are instead included as tour gifts as of the Battle Tour .

The following tables list the number of Grand Stars required to unlock each cup, tour gift, and pipe.

Mario Kart Tour tier list - The best drivers ranked

Mario Kart Tour tier list - The best drivers ranked

Complete Mario Kart Tour drivers tier list of the top ones that you should pick and the ones to avoid

Updated on April 25th, 2024  - Version 3.4.1 There are so many characters in Mario Kart Tour, so choosing the best is very important for better performance and easier victories. To help you out we have made this Mario Kart Tour tier list that categorizes all of the best drivers according to their viability and popularity.

Nintendo’s game is a popular action racer where you compete against seven players in kart racing. Your competitors can be in-game, nearby friends, or even random players from across the globe.

  • You can take a look at the Black Desert Mobile tier list , Alchemy Stars tier list of best characters and many others!

Mario Kart Tour features an easy learning curve as the mechanics are pretty simple. It allows you to control your kart and the character by just tapping and pressing the buttons with your fingertips.

Additionally, you can customize the races according to your preferences. This means it allows you to set rules on your own and change the configurations of tracks, cars, and lots more. On top of that, you can even feature your name in the global leaderboards

After we are done with the tier list, we will discuss some important facts about Mario Kart Tour reroll . Also, we will explain the steps for how you can easily reroll the characters in-game, so when you are done with the list feel free to take a look at how it works.

In a racing game, you will always have to overtake the player in front of you in order to lead. While using Toadette you can bomb them and push them out of the track by using Double Bob-ombs skills. You can also upgrade the skill to drop three bombs at a time, making Toadette one of the best drivers in Mario Kart Tour.

Her base and upgraded skills are all about spitting coins. While on the race track use her skills wisely to overtake and lead the race.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could get both a protective shield and lots of ammo to protect and fire upon the enemy? Dixie Kong’s Triple Bananas allow you to do that. You gain a shield when getting hit by enemy blows and stack up a lot of ammo to fire back at them.

She can spread fire on the racing track when she activates her Fire Flower which significantly slows the enemy. Moreover, she throws fireballs at enemies which can spin and throw them off the track.

  • How many Mario Kart Switch games are there?

A racer that is backed up by a massive cannon that shoots the enemy with bob-ombs. This can create a lot of trouble while dodging the bombs and making your way through them. Also, you can add another cannon to your kart if you manage to upgrade it.

3 B Tier drivers

  • Rosalina (Volendam)
  • Daisy (Swimwear)
  • Birdo (Green)
  • Toad (Tourist)
  • King Shy Guy (Ninja)
  • Yoshi (Egg Hunt)
  • Toad (Party Time)

  • Mario (SNES)
  • Wiggler (Gold)
  • Penguin Luigi
  • Mario (Swimwear)
  • Shy Guy (Pastry Chef)

His Dash Rings allow him to gain a speed boost that lasts for a certain period of time. In order to use it, you’ll have to pass through the circle to activate the effect. Make sure no one else does as it's only good for a single-use and the enemies can also use it as well.

Red Yoshi’s Egg can help chase enemies and distract them from the track. After the race concludes, you can watch it hatch and also claim the gift. Looking for a bonus gift? Use the upgraded skill to get one more item for free.

Blast your enemies around you with two bombs that launch at the same time. The upgraded one even allows you to launch three at a time!

4 C Tier drivers

Mario Kart Tour tier list - Baby Rosalina

  • Mario (Black Suit)
  • Luigi (Golf)
  • Yellow Toad (Pit Crew)
  • Baby Rosalina
  • Birdo (Yellow)
  • Boomerang Bro
  • Toad (Pit Crew)
  • Red Koopa (Freerunning)
  • Koopa (Freerunning)

Well, there’s nothing noteworthy about Baby Rosalina’s skills except for some fancy animations. Her Bubble skill allows her to summon a bubble that rotates around her kart and pops after some time.

Dry Bones’ Triple Green Shell is interesting as they can easily knock out a racer if thrown towards them. Those green shells rotate around the cart and hit instantly when locked on the enemy.

Lemmy’s skills are also the same as Baby Rosalina. You can upgrade them if you want to gain extra movement speed on the bubble.

5 D Tier drivers

Mario Kart Tour drivers Baby Daisy

  • Purple Toad (Pit Crew)
  • Koopa Troopa
  • Bowser Jr. (Pirate)
  • Blue Koopa (Freerunning)

Her skills summons bubbles which are pretty much of no use. Her position in this tier is justified as she has no better utility to offer.

Fire Flowers are one of the best skills in the entire game. It has a continuous damage effect on the other racers as you can set the road on fire while shooting fireballs directly at the enemy.

Bowser's Shells are the best obstacles in the game. All you have to do is put it on the track and when a racer steps on it they will get pushed off the track if they can't manage to maneuver their kart properly.
