Mystic is a great destination that continues to grow more popular. Step off the sidewalk and get away from the crowds. As your captain, I'll guide you and friends and family right from downtown Mystic! 

Feel free to bring refreshments. Bring your own or Flounder’s berth at Schooner Warf provides several great takeout options, including Li's Bakery, Karma Kitchen, Mystic Oysters (hot lobster roll!) and the Engine Room.

It’s rumored that the monks at Ender’s Island are safeguarding the Holy Grail. Of course, that’s only a rumor but no one would blame you if you mistook the sea wall for a castle. It’s a gorgeous spot and on the right day, you can catch the bag pipers playing!

The Mystic River abounds in natural beauty and cultural heritage and I take stewardship of these resources seriously. I have been involved in climate change policy since 1991. Even back then, sea levels were predicted to rise and now they are changing measurably. While rising waters may lift all boats, not all Mystic’s treasures are so adaptable. 

I recently converted Flounder to run on pure biodiesel, giving her a carbon footprint unmatched even by electric boats. In doing so, I’m hoping to raise awareness of the viability of alternative fuels and set a path that other boaters may follow. If you have never heard of Biodiesel, here are a few important facts: 

- It is approved for use by major engine manufacturers, like Cummins and Caterpillar 

- And it is slated to make up half of Connecticut’s home heating oil market by 2035

What an unforgettable experience! Our crew loved our time on the water with Darin. He was an excellent host, wonderful to chat with and very attentive when he realized one of us was feeling seasick. Two of us had been out with him before for a sunset cruise and we upped it to 3 hrs this time. Truly a great experience - highly recommend and will definitely be back!

This was the highlight of our trip to Mystic. I originally booked a much larger group tour where I would have sat on a wooden bench with a backrest, but changed my mind due to covid to be with fewer people. We were so happy with our choice! This is a whole different league compared to a group tour that is more of a river cruise than actually sailing at sea. We assumed we wouldn't have much of a sunset due to all the clouds, but we were able to sail away from clouds and had gorgeous views. The boat experience was lovely and so relaxing. Darin is a pro and this felt more like a friend invited us to join him on his boat. He filled us in on everything we were seeing, landmarks, houses, and even seal pups! This was a no stress tour where we sat in comfortable seats, drank some spiked lemonade with cup holders and gazed out at majestic sunset views. I can't wait to bring my kids when they are older for an entire day sail to hit up some beaches too. I can't thank Darin enough for allowing others to join him on this experience.

This was such a relaxing and beautiful way to see mystic at sunset!! Darin (the captain) and Dawn ( his first mate) were outstanding hosts! We are already talking about doing a day long or overnight trip next time we are here. We saw sea lions and birds... but truly the sunset was breathtaking and I was able to shoot some of the best pics ever!! Very comfy seats and you can sit up on the front of the boat to see the water and gets pics. Also can bring your own food, wine, water, etc. We brought wine, cheese, nuts and fruit. We forgot a knife, plate, and glasses and they let us use theirs. Such nice people! They both told us the history of some of the islands and the boat itself. She even played an awesome playlist which was perfect for the 2 hrs. They were both very warm and inviting and you almost felt like you'd made a couple of new friends by the end of the tour. They are very good at giving you space or chatting with you if you have questions.... Very relaxing!!! Highly recommend! Will definitely be back!

I usually don't write bad reviews but my husband and I were greatly disappointed with Poet's Lounge Sailing Charter. I booked with the owner's wife ( she does all the bookings) two months in advance. I had mentioned this was a special occasion and we were celebrating our honeymoon locally due to a Covid-19. We wanted to make the best of our situation and we splurged on a sailing charter. When we arrived for our sunset cruise it was a different boat then was pictured and advertised and a totally different captain. We were not made aware of this when booking nor were we contacted of any changes; which was completely unprofessional and a huge disappointment. The boat was in poor condition and a lot smaller than we were expecting. I'll give them 1 star because the captain we did have as professional and friendly. Beware when booking. We were overall not happy.

We had the most amazing time with Captain Darin aboard The Poet's Lounge. 6 of us booked the 4 hour private charter and Darin was so accommodating providing us with the best experience. We were able to bring along coolers of food and drinks, and wanted for nothing the entire trip. Given options of sailing for the full time, or stopping along the way for a swim, we chose the latter and were brought to a lovely little beach on Fisher's Island with clear waters for snorkeling (which Darin provided). On the way back, we were serenaded by the very talented Captain Darin, and his guitar. An absolutely perfect day! I highly recommend this experience!

Spent a wonderful morning on the Poet's Lounge with Darin this past weekend. We set sail for a three hour tour out of Noank, sailed across to Fishers Island, spent about 45 mins on a private beach and then headed back to CT. Traveled as a family with 4 teens who were given the opportunity to steer the boat while Darin worked the rigging. The beach was so quiet and relaxing, much better than the crowds at other RI beaches. Enjoyed lobster lunch at Abbott's afterward and then headed over to Ender's Island (6 mile drive but about 20-25 min car ride through Mystic to get there) for a nice walk around to enjoy the gardens and scenery. Highly recommend chartering a sail with Poets Lounge.

Captain Darin Keech does a great job with these private charters. The views are spectacular and Darin is a perfect host. Sunset cruise is amazing. Bonus is having Darin sing and play the guitar. He's also an amazing musician.
