Down a crossway, one of India’s least well-known but most amazing architectural anomalies is located in the center of Junagadh city. The Mahabat Maqbara complex, a stunning fusion of Gothic and Islamic decoration, is still one of India’s best-kept architectural secrets.

It is a stunning historical piece of art. It is a mausoleum built in 1892 for the chief Nobel of the then-ruler Mohabat Khan II, Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai. The pillars, stone-engraved works on the walls, and windows make this mausoleum a true wonder. Moreover, some stairs encircle the pillars/ minarets and the dome in the middle adds a little taste to the entire structure.

Must See / Things to Do: Marvel at the architecture of Mahabat Maqbara

2. Uparkot fort

Uparkot fort is a wonderful fort that is believed to have been built in 319 BC, during the reign of Chandragupta Maurya. The ramparts rise to 20 meters in certain areas. Uparkot fort has withstood 16 sieges, with one siege lasting twelve years, according to history. Moreover, inside the fort, there is a mosque, century-old Buddhist caves, and two wells that are worth watching.

Though it was built by the Mauryan emperor, this fort varied widely in hands. It is also a showcase of several remnants from different rulers. For example, An inscription by Mandalika III, dating about 1450, is located on the rampart just above the entrance.

Another symbol is a bell-metal 10-inch bore cannon that is 17 feet in length and 4 feet 8 inches in diameter at the mouth. This gun was imported from Diu back then. The ideal months to see this magnificent fort are November through February.

Must See / Things to Do: Explore the history and cultural heritage of the region.

3. Damodar Kund

According to Hindu beliefs, Damodar Kund is treated as one of the sacred lakes of India. It is a lovely lake located close to Junagadh at the base of the Girnar Hills . According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that the departed souls may attain Moksha if the bones or ashes are immersed in this sacred water.

Moreover, the water of this lake has the unique property of dissolving bones. The lake is barely 5 feet deep, 257 feet long, and 50 feet wide. It is encircled by a sturdy ghat. Close to Damodar Kund is where the steps to the Girnar hills begin.

You can also find some temples on the lakeside namely Damodar, Vageshwari, and Baladeva. This place is worth seeing during Shivratri. Additionally, a fair is held on Amavasya day in the Hindu calendar month of Bhadarva.

Must See / Things to Do: Witness the surreal natural beauty of the region.

4. Girnar Hill

Girnar Hill is a 3672 feet tall hill. It is a prominent attraction of Junagadh. The major attraction of this hill are the 866 Hindu and Jain temples built over the summit. You must climb 9999 steps to reach the top. The adventurous trek begins from the Girnar Taletti. An idyllic experience that tourists seldom forget is a stroll in the early morning hours to Girnar Hill.

Due to its spiritual nature, Hindu and Jain worshippers frequently visit these temples. Girnar Hill is a spot for those seeking some adventure and enjoyment. You can explore the breathtaking view of the landscape and the architectural design of the ancient temples.

What to Shop during your Full Day Junagadh Sightseeing Tour by Car?

Shopping in Junagadh is all about the small streets and not the massive air-conditioned malls. It is famous for its marble and wood artifacts, sarees, herbal medicines, Ayurveda, hand-made fabrics, and most importantly special footwear. On this one day Junagadh city sightseeing tour by car we make sure you will have a memorable encounter and a distinctive shopping experience in Junagadh’s little shopping lanes.

Moreover, this market is best suited for leather products like belts, wallets, slippers, etc made from camel skin.

Furthermore, Junagadh is also famous for the footwear industry. The designs you see here are not high-end or westernized designs. Rather, they are vintage designs that undoubtedly attract everyone’s attention with their uniqueness. The price of these shoes is significantly lower than that of other footwear at high-end shopping centers since the production facilities are close by. All you have to do to obtain them at the greatest and most astonishing pricing is to haggle more patiently. Since Gujarat is the Textile capital of India, Junagadh is also a hub of some textile industries. Therefore, the cost of sarees and other textiles is comparatively less. Bandhani Saree is the main attraction of shopping. Besides sarees, you will also get a fine collection of handmade carpets and other handmade textile products. In short, you will definitely have a great shopping experience in the streets of Junagadh.

What to Eat during your One Day Junagadh Sightseeing Trip by Taxi?

Junagadh lacks opulent or fancy dining establishments, but there are still plenty of alternatives for mouth watering street food, high-quality Indian food, and regional Gujarati food. Aloo Puri, Dahi Vada, PaniPuri, and various Chinese and Punjabi dishes are the main attraction for the foodies.

Gujarati food in Junagadh is incredibly tasty, nearly all vegetarian, and customarily served on huge silver or stainless steel plates with a side of rice and a selection of wheat bread. There are so many options available that being vegetarian is a personal preference. Genuine Gujarati food is a gourmet’s joy since it uses a broad variety of fresh vegetables, uses herbs and spices sparingly, and is prepared with a light hand.

Farsan and other Gujarati delicacies are mouthwatering. These fried treats are available everywhere in supermarkets and roadside kiosks. They are crisp and peppery. A real cuisine enthusiast in Junagadh would be overwhelmed by the variety of street food available. Savory Gujarati snacks including Dhokla, Bhajiya, Ghugra, Katka bread, Gathia, Khandvi, and Ras Patra are sold at popular food stands that you can try on your Junagadh darshan tour..

Vegetarians will find nirvana at Junagadh. The majority of Gujarati cuisine served in restaurants is vegetarian. Near Jayshree Road are fast food restaurants and eateries that provide south Indian and continental cuisine. There aren’t many non-vegetarian restaurants serving Mughalai food, and those that do tend to cluster around State Highway 97 and National Highway 151.
