Description

Paris’s Latin Quarter features in so many films. This guided tour revisits the movie sets, pays tribute to the  city of light , and plunges into the  magical fantasy world of director Woody Allen .

Ciné-Balade  invites you to travel back in time, like the hero of ‘Midnight in Paris’ , to the 1920s,  known as the ‘années folles’ (crazy years). Meet the legendary writers and artists  that lived in Paris at that time: Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and many more. Juliette will tell you all about the history of the neighbourhood and add some cinema history too.

For example, the tour takes in the  Polidor restaurant,  which was used as a movie location, the  Pantheon movie theatre , the stairs where the emblematic scene of the film was shot, the  banks of the Seine , and the  Shakespeare and Company bookshop .

Walking tour with photos and video clips on digital tablet.

This guided tour is conducted in English.

Fantastic and informative tour!

Wonderful tour. I'm a big fan of Midnight in Paris so I had very high expectations, and that part was terrific. The tour also included Paris's rich literary, cinematic, and art history. I can't recommend more highly.

Highlight of our stay in Paris…

This tour was an amazing and intimate experience. Walking around the Latin quarter with Juliette, who’s knowledge of the history of the cinema and Paris is outstanding, was the highlight of our short stay in Paris.

Amazing Virtual Tour!!

We did a company live virtual tour of Paris with Juliette who did an amazing job! Her knowledge of Paris and cinema history was outstanding. She went out of her way to customize her tour to fit it in our 1-hour time frame and she could not have been easier to work with. Highly recommend her tours to all! Excited to visit Paris in-person :)

Great tour!

To all Woodie Alen fans: this is a must see tour! If you love the film, your guide Juliette will give you a lot of interesting facts and will provide some historical background behind some of the characters and events from the film. You will walk through the most memorable locations of the film (take Instagrammy pictures of course!) and will surely visit them again afterwards. Juliette is a great guide who knows a lot, a lot about the history of cinematography and the general history of art and culture as well as some hidden gems of this amazing city. All in all, undoubtedly a great experience!

Midnight in Paris

We all have memories which stay with us for the rest of our lives. One of mine is of a night when, walking back home on the Rue des Francs Bourgeois, I was attracted and bewitched by an incredible, unreal goldish light falling like a shining veil over the Place des Vosges, in the Marais. I thought that they were making a film . Coming into the square I found myself alone, surrounded by the century old private mansions illuminated by a huge gold full moon leaning against the rooftop of one of the mansions. What a surprise , what a show, what a gift !

I love walking in Paris during the night, noticing the sudden sounds breaking through, admiring the interiors of the old apartments: the ceilings decorated with wooden beams, the beautiful chandeliers, the paintings on the walls. I often imagine that I am changing epochs exactly like Gil Pender , the main character, played by Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s movie Midnight In Paris . Around midnight, under the cover of the night, magic happens…

  • Trivia Tom Hiddleston received a letter from Woody Allen , along with fifteen pages of the script, offering him the role of F. Scott Fitzgerald . "It was three sentences long," Hiddleston told Entertainment Weekly. "Dear Tom, I'm making a movie in Paris this summer. I attached some pages. I'd love for you to play the role of Scott." Hiddleston now has the letter framed and hanging up in his home office.

Gil : Yeah, it's about 400 pages long, and I'm just looking for an opinion.

Ernest Hemingway : My opinion is I hate it.

Gil : Well you haven't even read it yet.

Ernest Hemingway : If it's bad, I'll hate it because I hate bad writing, and if it's good, I'll be envious and hate all the more. You don't want the opinion of another writer.

Midnight In Paris location: Church of St Etienne du Mont, rue de la Montagne Sainte-Genevieve, Paris

  • Locations |
  • Paris , France
  • Woody Allen

  • Rachel McAdams,
  • Michael Sheen,
  • Léa Seydoux,
  • Tom Hiddleston,
  • Alison Pill,
  • Kathy Bates,
  • Corey Stoll,
  • Adrien Brody,
  • Olivier Rabourdin,
  • Kurt Fuller

Lightweight but hugely enjoyable whimsy from Woody Allen , as writer and nostalgia fan Gil ( Owen Wilson ) gets a first-hand taste of Jazz Age Paris .

Like Allen ’s New York films, the movie provides a handy guide to the best the city has to offer – providing you're not on a student gap year budget.

Midnight In Paris location: rue Galande, Paris

Like Manhattan , the movie opens with a montage of beauty shots set to a jazz score. Among the flurry of images, you can recognise locations from other Paris movies, which may be homages or simply the best views of the city: there are the little Left Bank shops of rue Galande – with the giant flea sculpture – (seen in Richard Linklater ’s Before Sunset ), avenue des Camoens with its view of the Eiffel Tower ( Francois Truffaut’ s Le Dernier Metro ), the columns of Parc Monceau ( Gigi ) and the double-decker Pont Bir Hakeim ( Last Tango in Paris and, more recently, Inception ).

The movie proper begins in Monet’s Garden , the former home of impressionist painter Claude Monet in Giverny , where writer Gil reveals his love for the romantic image of old Paris .

Monet lived on this estate from 1883 until his death in 1926. The Japanese-style wooden bridge, famous from his paintings, can be found in the water garden section. It's actually a copy, after the original bridge, which the artist commissioned from a local craftsman, had deteriorated beyond repair. About 50 miles northwest of Paris , you can comfortably visit Giverny , as a day trip from the city.

Midnight In Paris location: Hotel Le Bristol, rue du Faubourg St Honore, Paris

In the City of Light itself, Gil and fiancée Inez ( Rachel McAdams ) stay with her parents at Hotel Le Bristol , 112 rue du Faubourg St Honoré . Smack in the centre of the high fashion shopping street (Pierre Cardin, Hermès, Lanvin, Lacroix...), Le Bristol has been the Paris base of Hollywoodsters such as Kim Novak , Rita Hayworth and Charlie Chaplin .

Midnight In Paris location: Le Grand Vefour, rue de Beaujolais, Paris

Equally upscale (even for Paris ) is the restaurant where Gil rather vocally disagrees with Inez's Republican folks, and where smug know-all Paul ( Michael Sheen ) first puts in an appearance. It's Le Grande Véfour , 17 Rue du Beaujolais , tucked away behind the columns at the entrance to the gardens of the Palais Royale. Opened in 1784, the restaurant' boasts an impressive list of customers – many of whom have plaques marking their favourite tables – including Napoleon – and naturally Josephine – as well as writers Colette and Victor Hugo , philosopher Jean Paul Sartre and artist/film-maker Jean Cocteau .

It's in the gardens at Versailles that Paul snidely dismisses Gil’s nostalgia as 'Golden Age Thinking'. Versailles is about 45 minute rail journey from Paris Austerlitz station – you can purchase a round-trip RER ticket (you can book a joint trip to include Giverny if you have limited time).

The interior of the grand Chateau de Versailles itself, built for Louis XIV, is glimpsed toward the end of the movie as the unfortunate detective hired to follow Gil finds himself seriously lost. The palace is also seen in Milos Forman ’s Valmont and Sofia Coppola ’s Marie Antoinette .

Midnight In Paris location: Chophard, Place Vendome, Paris

With the wedding on the horizon, Inez talks rings with her mother as they window shop at jewellery store Chopard, 1 place Vendome ( metro: Tuileries ) – a mere stone's throw from the Ritz .

Midnight In Paris location: Musee Rodin, Hotel Biron, rue de Varenne, Paris

During a tour of the Musée Rodin in the Hotel Biron, 79 rue de Varenne ( metro: Varenne ), Paul contradicts the guide (a cameo from Carla Bruni ) about the sculptor's wife and mistress. The Hotel Biron was Auguste Rodin 's home from 1911 to his death in 1917, and he bequeathed his artworks to the nation on condition they be exhibited here. There’s an admission charge for the museum itself, but you can tour the gardens for only €1.

The alfresco wine tasting is at La Belle Étoile , the rooftop suite of Hotel le Meurice , 228 Rue de Rivoli ( metro: Tuileries ), overlooking the Tuileries. Dubbed the ‘Hotel of Kings’ – Queen Victoria , Alphonse XIII and the Shah of Iran (who was deposed by the Iranian revolution while staying here) are listed among its royal guests. Other luminaries include composer Tchaikovsky , as well as two artists who appear as characters in the film – Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali .

Ever the showman, Dali spent at least one month of each year at Le Meurice . Determined to live up to his image as Master of the Surreal, he occasionally demanded a horse be sent to his room, or a herd of sheep, or flies caught from the Tuileries. Now that’s what I call room service.

Understandably, this rarified life is getting all too much for Gil, who takes off alone for a breath of fresh air.

Lost and slightly tipsy, he slumps down on the steps of St Etienne du Mont, rue de la Montagne Geneviève ( metro: Cardinal Lemoine ), where he gets an invite from the mysterious 1920 Peugeot Landaulet, and the plot spins off into fantasy. Note that the ‘magic’ steps are not the main entrance, but to the side of the church, facing north.

Midnight In Paris location: Church of St Etienne du Mont, rue de la Montagne Sainte-Genevieve, Paris

Apart from the steps, we see precious little of the church itself, which houses the shrine of Saint Geneviève , the city’s patron saint, along with the tombs of physicist and philosopher Blaise Pascal and playwright Jean Racine . Revolutionary Jean-Paul Marat (the one murdered in his bath by Charlotte Corday ) is buried in the church’s cemetery.

Midnight In Paris location: quai de Bourbon, Ile St Louis, Paris

Gil is whisked away to a party on quai de Bourbon ( metro: Pont Marie ), on the western tip if the Ile St Louis . With Cole Porter playing piano, his hosts introducing themselves as Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald ( Tom Hiddleston and Alison Pill ), Gil realises something very odd is going on.

Midnight In Paris location: rue Malebranche, Paris

From here – these parties soon get so boring – it's on to 'Bricktop's'. The singer and dancer Bricktop ran famed nightclub Le Grand Duc at 52 rue Pigalle (later, in 1929, she opened Chez Bricktop a few doors down at 66 rue Pigalle).

In the film, though, her club appears to be housed way to the south near the Pantheon, at 17 rue Malebranche, (another former screen location – this was previously the home of Audrey Hepburn and her father Maurice Chevalier in Billy Wilder 's Love In The Afternoon ) ( metro: Luxembourg ).

The real Bricktop (real name Ada Smith ) lived on into the 1980s, and actually appeared as herself in Woody Allen 's 1983 Zelig , to talk about the Human Chameleon's visit to her nightclub.

Midnight In Paris location: Restaurant Polidor, rue Monsieur le Prince, Paris

The non-stop partying moves on to Le Polidor , 41 rue Monsieur le Prince ( metro: Odéon ), where Gil leaps at the opportunity of getting Ernest Hemingway ( Corey Stoll ) to cast an eye over his novel. A mere stripling, dating back only to 1845, Le Polidor was indeed patronised by Hemingway , along with fellow scribes Paul Verlaine , André Gide , James Joyce , Antonin Artaud and beat poet Jack Kerouac . For once, prices are comparatively modest and – don't worry – no, it hasn't been replaced by a launderette.

The next day, back in the 21st century, Inez and her mother consider forking out €18,000 for an antique chair at Philippe de Beauvais, 112 Boulevard De Courcelles ( metro: Ternes or Courcelles ). If you're looking to track down that special bit of furniture, be warned that Beauvais is actually a dealer in antique lighting, offering a collection of 18th to early 20th-century chandeliers, electroliers, candle sticks, lanterns and the like.

Incidentally, the striking church you may notice in the background of the scene is the Cathedral of Saint-Alexandre-Nevsky on Rue Daru , seen in the Oscar-winning 1956 film of Anastasia , with Ingrid Bergman .

Midnight In Paris location: rue de Fleurus, Paris

The second magical midnight sees Hemingway take Gil off to visit Gertrude Stein ( Kathy Bates ) and her lover Alice B Toklas at the writer's real home, 27 rue de Fleurus ( metro: Saint Placide ). It’s here he also meets Pablo Picasso and his current mistress Adriana ( Marion Cotillard ). The house isn’t open to the public, but a plaque above the door commemorates the writer’s 33-year residence.

Looking for a Cole Porter record, Gil bumps into Gabrielle ( Léa Seydoux ) at the flea market of Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen, Le Marché Paul Bert, 96-110 rue des Rosiers ( metro: Porte de Clignancourt ), to the north of the city at Porte de Clignancourt. This is the old market you might have seen in Louis Malle 's freewheeling 1960 comedy Zazie Dans Le Metro .

Midnight In Paris location: Musee de l'Orangerie, Place de la Concorde, Paris

Eight of Monet ’s huge water lily pictures are displayed at the Musée de l'Orangerie , Place de la Concorde ( metro: Concorde ), along with works by Paul Cézanne , Henri Matisse , Renoir and others. It’s here that Gil finally manages to outsmart Paul with his background knowledge of the Picasso painting.

But another night brings another party. The fairground bash with carousels is held in the Musée des Arts Forains – the Museum of Fairground Art , at Les Pavillons de Bercy , 53 Avenue des Terroirs de France ( metro: Cour Saint-Émilion ). The brainchild of Jean Paul Favand , this unique private collection of fairground art, including German swings, merry-go-rounds and carousels, is generally used as a venue-for-hire, though it’s possible to book ahead for private visits.

It’s here that Gil bumps into Adriana again, and together they take what seems to be quite a stroll. From southeastern Paris , they find themselves in Montmartre , descending the photogenic steps on rue du Chevalier de la Barre , running alongside Sacre Coeur , down to rue Lamarck ( metro: Anvers ).

Midnight In Paris location: Parc Jean XXIII, Ile de la Cite, Paris

Gil is amazed to find himself mentioned in Adriana’s journal as it’s read to him in the Parc Jean XXIII , tucked away on the Ile de la Cite , behind Notre Dame Cathedral ( metro: Maubert Mutualité ).

Midnight In Paris location: Maison Deyrolle, 46 rue du Bac, Paris

The Surrealist wedding party, where Gil pitches the idea for The Exterminating Angel to a flummoxed Luis Buñuel , is the extraordinary Maison Deyrolle , 46 rue du Bac ( metro: Rue du Bac ), awash with insects and taxidermy. Since 1831, Deyrolle has offered animal, botanic and mineral specimens to nature lovers, schools, universities, museums and scientific institutions. it’s not surprising that its collection became a magnet for the Surrealists.

Midnight In Paris location: Maison Deyrolle, 46 rue du Bac, Paris

Luis Buñuel , by the way, was intended to be the artist (finally replaced by writer Marshall MacLuhan ) dragged out of the cinema queue to refute the loudmouthed pseudo-intellectual (a forerunner of Paul) in Woody Allen ’s Annie Hall .

Midnight In Paris location: Restaurant Paul, rue Henri Robert, Place Dauphine, Paris

It's on the quiet triangle of Place Dauphine , hidden away at the opposite end of the Ile de la Cité from the parc, in front of Restaurant Paul , 15 Place Dauphine , ( metro: Chatelet ), that a coach and horses arrive to give Adriana her own trip back into the past. Regulars at Restaurant Paul once included Yves Montand and Simone Signoret , who happened to live in an apartment above the restaurant. More recently, it's where Lou ( Emilia Clarke ) sits when she finally gets to visit Paris in 2016 weepie Me Before You .

Midnight In Paris location: Maxim's, rue Royale, Paris

Adriana and Gil are whisked further back to the Belle Epoque finery of Maxim’s , 3 rue Royale ( metro: Concorde or Madeleine ), where scenes for the 1958 musical Gigi were filmed, and on to the Moulin Rouge, 82 boulevard de Clichy ( metro: Blanche ) where, in turn, painters Toulouse Lautrec , Gauguin and Degas hanker after the great age of the Renaissance.

Neither John Huston ’s 1952 film of Moulin Rouge nor the 2001 Baz Luhrmann musical were filmed in the real nightclub (the Luhrmann film was made entirely on soundstages in Sydney , New South Wales ), though the Huston film was made largely in Paris , including scenes at Maxim’s .

Midnight In Paris location: Shakespeare and Company, rue de la Bucherie, Paris

After finally splitting with Inez, Gil drinks at l'Ile de France, 59 quai de la Tournelle at rue des Bernadins; and browses in Shakespeare and Company , 37 rue de la Bûcherie (the bookshop starting point for Richard Linklater 's 2004 Before Sunset ).

Midnight In Paris: Pont Alexandre III, Paris

He finally ends up with Gabrielle on the wildly elaborate Pont Alexander III ( metro: Invalides ), ( Anastasia again, the 1952 Moulin Rouge , 1985 Bond movie A View to a Kill and the end of Me Before You – again), acknowledging that "Paris is at its most beautiful in the rain".

The Midnight in Paris visit itinerary

Home » The best destinations in Europe » Visiting France » Paris » The Midnight in Paris visit itinerary

The Paris tourist itinerary proposed by Midnight in Paris is really a great one. A few days ago, I watched the movie repeatedly, and I realized I had forgotten that this truly is Woody Allen’s amazing love declaration to Paris.

Midnight in Paris opens with a quick montage of stunning shots of Parisian iconic locations, also set to other Paris movies, from Last Tango in Paris to Le dernier metro . Jazz music melts everything in an irresistible tourist spot.

Midnight in Paris itinerary

Midnight in Paris itinerary

But let’s start this exceptional tour around Paris. In the end, you’ll even find a dedicated map for you to arrange your own visit itinerary.

Faubourg St Honoré

The two main characters, romantic writer Gil and pretty spoiled fiancée Inez, stay at the Hôtel Le Bristol , one of Paris’s most famous palaces, right in the heart of this posh shopping street.

This palace has the largest private garden in Paris, with a stunning swimming pool overlooking Paris, a trendy spa, the famous gourmet restaurant Epicure , a brasserie, a bar, and even its own bakery. If you can afford it, stay here!

Place Vendome

We get to see luxury Place Vendome when Inez talks wedding rings with her mother as they window shop at Chopard jewelry, just one of those on the square. If you want to buy an expensive ring or necklace or spend a night at the Ritz, this is your place.

Le Grand Véfour, Paris famous restaurant

Le Grande Véfour , 17 Rue du Beaujolais, is the restaurant where Gil has his politics discussion with Inez’ dad. I’ve been there only twice, and it is an amazing restaurant, of course, but also an amazing buil ding.

Opened in 1784 as a café, it became in 1820 one of the first gastronomic cuisine restaurants of Paris, right at the entrance of the gardens of the Palais Royale .

The Tuileries

We get to see the Tuileries by night during the wine tasting held at  La Belle Étoile , the rooftop of the  Hotel le Meurice .

I recommend a daylight promenade in the garden, maybe grab a sandwich and a good book to enjoy both on one of the pretty iconic green chairs spread all around.

Musée de l’Orangerie

At the Musée de l’Orangerie is where Gil and Inez visit the exhibition dedicated to Monet.

Opened in 1852 as winter storage for the orange trees of the Tuileries garden, it was transformed into a museum in 1927, and Claude Monet installed here his Nymphéas , following a proposal by Georges Clémenceau. Monet himself paid for the museum interior design and donated his work to the Country.

Eglise Saint-Étienne du Mont

It’s on the steps at the foot of the north portal of the church of Saint-Etienne du Mont, on the side of the Abbé-Basset place, that Gil gets his lift to the Twenties.

The church combines Gothic, classical decor, and Renaissance, as the construction went on forever, between 1492 and 1626. The sculptures were not added until the nineteenth century!

The church houses the shrine of Saint Geneviève, the city’s patron saint, and the tombs of Blaise Pascal, Jean Racine, and revolutionary Jean-Paul Marat.

Ile St Louis

The first 20’s party takes place on  Quai de Bourbon, on Ile St Louis western tip. More bourgeois and less tourist than Île de la Cité, Île Saint-Louis is one of my favorite places in Paris , where I traditionally stop for a hot chocolate cup with a river view.

Remaining almost identical for nearly four centuries, its architecture and small village atmosphere make the island an ideal place for a peaceful stroll.

Square Jean-XXIII

Square Jean-XXIII, on Ile de la Cité, is where Gil translates to Carla Bruni the memories of Adriana, discovering that Cotillard’s character is actually in love with him.

It’s a pretty corner, perfect to rest, admire the river and enjoy a book.

paris midnight tour

The Grand Duc nightclub

So, the nightclub does exist but is rue Pigalle. It’s also known as Chez Bricktop , the famous dancer and singer Ada Smith’s scene name. In the movie, it looks like it’s a walking distance from the Ile St Louis, though, near the Pantheon.

Restaurant Polidor

Le Polidor , rue Monsieur le Prince, is where Gil meets Ernest Hemingway. The bistro was also the daily canteen of Verlaine, Gide, Joyce, and even Kerouac.

I have lunch there too as it hasn’t been replaced by a launderette!

Gertrude Stein’s home

During his second night in the past, Gil visits Gertrude Stein. Arriving in Paris in 1904 to join her brother, the famous American feminist writer fell in love with the City of Light and moved there.

Her apartment was known to be one of the places where artists and intellectuals from around the world met every Saturday. It’s 27 rue de Fleurus, and she lived there with her companion Alice B. Toklas, but you can’t visit it…

Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen

It’s a great market right at Porte de Clignancourt, perfect for cheap shopping and to find weird stuff. My mum loves it but never came back with a super cool original Cole Porter record…

Musée Rodin

The  Musée Rodin  is in the Hotel Biron, where we also see the acting performance by ex-French first lady Carla Bruni, who received a simple appearance fee of 150 € a day for the scenes she shot her husband was still President.

The Hotel Biron was Rodin’s last home, and he left his artworks to the nation on condition they are exhibited here. You can visit both the garden and the house, with two different tickets, and recommend both.

Maison Deyrolle

The Surrealist wedding party takes place at Maison Deyrolle , 46 rue du Bac. This kind of attraction is really not my cup of tea, but if you have kids, they might love it.

Restaurant Paul

Paul is on Place Dauphine, and I love it! You might have noticed it also in M e before you, the romantic movie with Emilia Clarke. If you didn’t, watch it, with tissues close by and possibly wearing no make-up…

paris midnight tour

Maxim’s is a true Parisian institution. The symbol of Belle Epoque, second home to Toulouse Lautrec, and Degas, Gauguin, and other artists. It was selected as a movie set plenty of time and unfortunately badly damaged this summer during the Gilets Jaunes’ protests.

Shakespeare and Company

Well, this is a super touristy and iconic bookshop in downtown Paris. I even worked there… you can read more about it in my post dedicated to Paris’s most beautiful bookshops .

During the impossibly long Gil and Adriana night stroll, we also get to see Montmartre when they descend the rue du Chevalier de la Barre’s steps alongside  Sacre Coeur .

I already wrote about Montmartre, detailing a great walking itinerary across Paris most famous hill .

Movie locations outside Paris

At the beginning of the movie, and then again at the end, we get to see two fabulous locations outside Paris, and I recommend them both!

Well, everybody knows  Versailles , Louis XIV chef-d’oeuvre, about 45 minutes RER rail journey from Paris . It’s worth a full day visit, to take your time and fully enjoy the beauty of the impressive gardens, the Grand and Petit Trianon, Marie Antoinette’s lovely British village and her theatre and of course the castle interiors and the Orangerie.

If you happen to visit in the summer, check the night event schedule cause attending a performance in those gardens is an incredible experience!

Monet’s home in Giverny

The movie begins in  Monet’s Garden in Giverny, where Claude Monet actually lived till his death and where you’ll be able to recognize several details you already know from his paintings: the Japanese-style wooden bridge, the flowers, the stream…

Giverny is at 45 minutes by train from Gare Saint Lazare, stepping off at Vernon station. From there, you can get a bus operating a 15 minutes shuttle service to and from the Monet Foundation.

paris midnight tour

My last tip? Watch the movie the night before getting to Paris to fully enjoy this themed tour. And remember, Paris is always a good idea…

This gorgeous movie was shot at some gorgeous locations… that is to say, Paris! Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris elegantly captures the spirit of 1920s and provides a glimpse into the marvelous and legendary Belle Époque , the period of flowering at the end of the 19th century between the close of the Franco-Prussian War and the beginning of the First World War.

Woody Allen takes us on a wildly imaginative journey where we meet many of the famous writers, composers, and painters of the Jazz Age in Paris — Ernest Hemingway, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Gertrude Stein. The film starts with a dazzling selection of Paris locations and sets the scene at Le Bristol , one of the city's most luxurious hotels. The director spends almost as much care and attention to the Paris locations as he does to the actors' performances.

In the film, these are the stairs where Gil goes nightly to catch his magic car ride to the past. It's become a place to see in Paris for Woody Allen fans (and Owen Wilson fans), who sit on the steps at the church of Saint-Etienne-du-Mont behind the Pantheon to pay tribute to the movie.

There is nothing quite like seeing Paris all lit up in the evening with the Eiffel Tower sparkling against a star-studded sky.

However, if you’re new to the city then it can be difficult to know to create the best Paris night tours for you and your family.

Plus, regardless of your interests, there is a perfect Paris evening tour here for you.

My #1 pick 🏆 for the best Paris night tour is this Epic Dinner at the Eiffel Tower . Not only is the food 🥐 next-level but the views are magical and the experience is highly-rated.

Best Paris Night Tours

1. moulin rouge cabaret show in paris with champagne.

View of the Moulin Rouge in the evening.

⭐️ Rating: 4.7/5.0 (7659 Reviews) Price: $133.78 per person Duration: 2 hours 📍 Meeting Point : Moulin Rouge Operator: GetYourGuide Tours & Tickets GmbH Details: Read more on Get Your Guide Now!

Gitchi gitchi, ya ya da da…

Of course, experiencing the OG cabaret show deserves the top spot on your Paris bucket list.

Remember, the Moulin Rouge Cabaret Show is a performance of “Féerie”. It’s not the Broadway musical.

Created by Doris Haug and Ruggero Angeletti with choreography by Bill Goodson, Féerie unites over 100 artists on stage.

Sporting more sequins and feathers than you’d have thought possible, the Doriss Girls perform cancan dancing and acrobatics. So, this 90-minute spectacle is bold, bright, and utterly breathtaking.

Really, no other show in town can compete with this cabaret bonanza. Plus, it’s one of the coolest Paris night tours for friends and couples alike.

“It’s a ‘Must-Do’ when in Paris! The show was outstanding, the atmosphere of the theater was wonderful. Be aware that it’s crowded; get there early and be prepared to stand in line for a while. Also, the little tables are packed quite tightly together, but the audience is there for a good time-and that you will definitely have! Talented and beautiful dancers, death-defying acrobatic performers, fantastic staging and costumes… get your tickets!” Juliet ( read more reviews now )

Note, that the actual cabaret doesn’t start until around midnight. Therefore, you’ll want to grab dinner before making your way to the theater.

On that note, elegant apparel is a requirement. While feathers and rhinestones aren’t mandatory, you’re welcome to get into the spirit of things during one of the best night tours Paris has to offer.

2. Eiffel Tower’s Madame Brasserie Refined Dinner

View of the Eiffel Tower all lit up in the evening with the reflecting pool out front during one of the best night tours in Paris.

⭐️ Rating: 4.4/5.0 (614 Reviews) Price: $197.03 per person Duration: 1.5 hours 📍 Meeting Point: Welcome desk of Madame Brasserie Operator: UMANIS Madame Brasserie Details: Read more on Get Your Guide Now!

In a food-centric country like France, you’ll find no shortage of awesome restaurants and brunch spots in Paris .

But, try as you might, you can’t top the experience of dining at the city’s number one attraction.

See, the Eiffel Tower’s Madame Brasserie Refined Dinner is located at the restaurant on the first floor of this iconic landmark.

Headed up by the Parisian chef Thierry Marx, the culinary offerings here are centered around modern, health-conscious cooking.

So, you’ll have a choice of 3 or 4 courses. Plus, all reservations include a glass of Champagne, wine, mineral water, and a coffee with dessert.

But, if you want extra refreshments, you’ll be billed accordingly during one of the best nighttime tours Paris has to offer.

You also have the option to upgrade to a seat in a privileged part of the restaurant or with a city view by the window.

Which, is totally worth the splurge. Because although the food is top-notch, the views are what you’re really here for.

“Dinner in the Eiffel Tower was superb! I had thought that this was going to be a bit gimmicky and possible of low quality when it came to food and drinks but it was entirely the opposite. The champagne on arrival was beautiful. The wine we had (two glasses each) was really good. The food was sumptuous and again of very good quality. We got a lovely table by the window which we hadn’t expected. Overall it was a great experience. Would highly recommend it as a great night out in Paris in an iconic building!” John ( read more reviews now )

Plus, you have the option of participating in a “Mystery Game” via smartphone while you wait for your nest course. Also remember that an elegant dress code applies here as usual.

3. Gourmet Paris Dinner Cruise on the Seine River with Live Music

A tourist boat cruising along the Seine in the evening during one of the best champagne tours in Paris.

⭐️ Rating: 4.5/5.0 (766 Reviews) Price: $95.20 per person Duration: 2.5 hours 📍 Meeting Point: Varies Operator: Le Diamant Bleu Details: Read more on Get Your Guide Now!

Experience the magic of Paris after-hours with this unforgettable Gourmet Dinner Cruise on the Seine River with Live Music .

Essentially, the 2.5-hour excursion takes place aboard a luxury riverboat. Then, inside the cabin, you’ll enjoy a lavish 3-course dinner.

And, this is France. So, you can expect only the finest ingredients in your freshly prepared meal.

Plus, the menu is updated seasonally. But, if you’re on a plant-based diet then you’ll need to give the operator 48 hours’ notice if you want to eat during one of the best Paris night tours.

Additionally, a live singer and DJ will keep you more than entertained while you dine and sail aboard this next-level awesome boat.

“We had the best time on this cruise. Dinner was very good, we circled at the Eiffel Tower and stayed there for at least 10 minutes during the light show. The music was a cabaret style singer accompanying himself of an electric piano. He played and sang various upbeat pop tunes in French and English and we ended with a dance party!” Janet ( read more reviews now )

Naturally, the route is planned to make the most of the city by night. So, you’ll definitely pass by epic Paris landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, which is beautifully illuminated in Paris at night.

All in all, this is one of the best Paris night tours for couples or smaller groups.

Just know that you can pay a surcharge for a window seat or add Champagne to your booking.

Pro-Tip: Sandals and shorts ain’t gonna cut it when cruising Paris. Therefore, you’ll need to dress as per the elegant-casual dress code.

4. 3-Course Dinner Cabaret Show at Paradis Latin Theater

Burlesque dancer in vibrant attire one stage art one of the best things to do in New York City at night.

⭐️ Rating: 4.7/5.0 (496 Reviews) Price: $187.29 per person Duration: 3.5 hours 📍Meeting Point: 28 Rue du Cardinal Lemoine, 75005 Paris Operator: Paradis Latin Details: Read more on Get Your Guide Now!

We already covered the emblematic Moulin Rouge spectacle on this list of the best night tours in Paris. But, you know that’s not the only cabaret in Paris!

See, this 3-course Dinner Cabaret Show at Paradis Latin Theater is an alternative (or additional) option – depending on what you want to do during your 24 hours in Paris .

Now, the Paradis Latin Cabaret is technically a show that has been operating since the Belle Epoque era.

However, this immortal performance of the French Cancan prides itself on being more tailored toward a modern audience.

Here, poetry and dance are combined with passion and emotions rarely experienced on stage.

Now, as this booking includes dinner, you’ll want to show up with an appetite since the menu is refreshed seasonally and you have a choice of three tiers.

“We booked the prestige meal and I think this contributed to 2 excellent seats front and centre in the theatre. Surprisingly the pre-show act was excellent and the food was top notch – foie gras, monk fish curry and a set of Herme desserts. The culinary skill exhibited for providing meals to an audience of 400 at the same time was exemplary. Now, to the show. Not as lascivious at Crazy Horses but wow, a real West End style treat full of energy, colour, beauty and inventiveness. Taylor Swift stares into the camera from the stage.

There’s no time like the present, Swifties.

On April 19, Taylor Swift dropped her 11th studio album “The Tortured Poet’s Department.” As expected, the 34-year-old singer-songwriter became the internet’s main character.

Some raved about the sprawling, ambitious double album; others criticized the record for its length, subject matter and lyrics.

All we know is that in the seven days that have passed, ticket prices to see Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ live have plummeted for most of her concerts in Europe.

Based on our findings, most shows have seats available that are significantly cheaper than they cost just a week ago.

In fact, some tickets are over $1,000 less than they were on April 19 already.

While it’s not the case for her U.S. and Canada gigs — where prices have mostly stayed flat or slowly risen — we’d argue it might be in your best interest to book tickets to an overseas ‘Eras Tour’ concert given this cooldown.

Want to find out how much tickets cost for ‘Eras Tour’ concerts versus what they were going for on April 19?

We’ve got everything you need to know and more about Taylor Swift’s 2024 tour below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Taylor Swift 2024 tickets

A complete calendar including all upcoming tour dates, venues, and the best ticket prices for all concerts versus what they cost on April 19 can be found here.

*The lower ticket price is in bold.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Taylor Swift set list

While Swift is known for dropping a surprise song or two into her shows, the tracks stay surprisingly consistent for most gigs (although that will likely change in the wake of “TTPD’s” release).

In any event, here’s what Tay Tay played at her final live show of 2023 in Brazil, according to  Set List FM :

Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ news

Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely over the past year.

Over the past few months, we spoke to a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live and  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends .

Taylor Swift new music

As noted above, Swift’s  “The Tortured Poets Department”  was released at midnight (and subsequently at 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.

While every listener will likely come away with their own favorites, we particularly enjoyed the sleek, synth-y “Fortnight,” icy “So Long, London,” anthemic “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” bombastic slow build of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and gorgeously arranged “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”

If you want to give it a spin — if you haven’t already, that is — you can find “The Tortured Poets Department”  here .

Taylor Swift opening acts

Taylor only has two opening acts lined up for the ‘Eras Tour’ this year.

Here’s what you need to know about her well-established special guests.

Paramore  will play alongside Swift after mounting a massive 2023 tour of their own. The group, fronted by lead singer Hayley Williams, reunited in 2022 after a five-year hiatus. For fans that want to check out their latest, you can listen to “This Is Why,” their sixth studio album, which dropped in February 2023.

Gracie Abrams , the daughter of film director JJ Abrams and producer Katie McGrath, is a star in her own right. Her song “I miss you, I’m sorry” has upwards of 100 million streams on Spotify, she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the 2022 “Sour Tour” and headlined her own tour last spring as well.

Huge stars on tour in 2024

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (sometimes more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Olivia Rodrigo

•  Kacey Musgraves

•  Pink

•  Chappell Roan

•  Alanis Morissette

Who else is on the road this year? Check out our list of the  50 biggest concert tours in 2024  to find out.

Taylor Swift releases YouTube short that appears to have new Eras Tour dances

Taylor Swift  released a new YouTube Shorts video and fans believe clips are signifying a "The Tortured Poets Department" number or set during the Eras Tour.

After the double album was released Friday, fans wondered if the singer would fit any of the 31 songs into the three-plus hour set. In the quick 15-second video, fans pointed out a couple of suspect shots, including Swift leaning against a railing that seems to have the "TTPD" logo and a quick scene where her backup dancers hold poles and wear top hats.

Swift has been on a two-month break from the Eras Tour and has spent much of her time in Los Angeles.

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

If there is a new Eras Tour set, the next question is where would she add the era? "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince's" opening line is a perfect opening for an artist who has released seven albums and hasn't seen fans: "It's been a long time coming."

She could end the show with the "TTPD" set, but "Karma" is also a good show closer. Other than those two options, she could place "TTPD" after "Reputation" and before "Speak Now" or also right before "Midnights."

"A fortnight til Paris 🤍," Swift says in the caption. Her next tour stop is Paris, France on May 9. Swift will tour in Europe for 51 shows until she takes a break and heads back to the United States and Canada.

Ahead of her Indy tour stop this year, Taylor Swift releases her eleventh studio album

paris midnight tour

Are you ready for it?

Ahead of her concert later this year in Indy, Taylor Swift released her highly-anticipated eleventh studio album "The Tortured Poets Department" on Friday.

Still no word on "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" though (sorry, Swifties).

Here's what we know about her new album.

When does 'The Tortured Poets Department' release?

Swift's newest album, "The Tortured Poets Department" dropped at midnight on April 19. Then at 2 a.m. she released a deluxe version of the album, "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology."

How manys songs are in 'The Tortured Poets Department'?

The original album consists of 16 songs, with four additional bonus tracks that were advertised as only available on certain vinyls or CDs. Each vinyl or CD variant includes a different one of the bonus tracks.

Making bonus tracks only available on physical copies and releasing them on streaming later is becoming a more common practice.

Swift did this with her previous album "Midnights" where the bonus track "You're Losing Me" was only available on a few CDs sold at live shows. Olivia Rodrigo recently released a deluxe version of her sophomore album "Guts," which includes all four of the bonus tracks that were originally only available on certain vinyl pressings, plus one new song.

Swift moved much quicker than that for this album.

By releasing the deluxe version of the album on streaming at 2 a.m., only two hours after the original dropped, 15 extra tracks, including the bonus tracks only on vinyl and cd, became available to stream.

So now all bonus tracks for this album are available on streaming, but not all the deluxe songs have physical copies (that we know of, yet).

When did Taylor Swift announce 'The Tortured Poets Department'?

At the Grammy Awards on Feb. 4, while accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for her previous album "Midnights," Swift announced her next project, another album titled "The Tortured Poets Department."

She has been teasing fans with track titles, lyrics, videos , Apple Music playlists , and even a pop-up art installation in Los Angeles with Spotify leading up to the release.

Will 'The Tortured Poets Department' be in the Eras Tour?

It is still unsure whether or not the remaining shows on her current tour, the Eras Tour, will be updated to include songs from her newest album.

She begins the European leg of her tour on May 9 in Paris, France, making it the first concert date after the release of "The Tortured Poets Department." Fans will have to wait and see if the album gets a more permanent spot in the show's setlist beyond being played during the surprise song segment.

When is Taylor Swift coming to Indy?

Taylor Swift announced in August she is bringing her "Eras Tour" to Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium for three nights, Nov. 1, 2 and 3.

Taylor Swift Indianapolis: ‘Stay Stay Stay’ at one of these hotels within a mile of the Eras Tour concert

How to get Taylor Swift tickets for Indianapolis?

You may still have a chance to see the Eras Tour in November.

Ticket sales through Ticketmaster are officially over, however, several marked-up tickets are still available for the Indianapolis shows on re-selling sites like StubHub and SeatGeek .

If you're still hoping to get tickets, they may be costly. Most tickets are priced are anywhere from $1,500 to almost $3,000 each, and the cheapest tickets are for seats near the top of the bowl.

Lunch in Paris? 15 (delicious) set menus from 20 to 30 euros

What is an expensive restaurant? The answer is relative. Outside of Paris, it's not difficult to get a decent meal for around €15. In the capital, however, it's more complicated, especially in upmarket areas, and even more so with inflation. Those who, only a few months ago, were offering menus at €20 have had to increase their prices to €25 or sometimes €30.

We crisscrossed the capital to find the best addresses for lunch at a reasonable price, keeping only the seasonal offerings, unearthing hidden gems (Le Véro-Dodat), Normandy-infused bistronomy (Le Rigodon), affordable Korean delights (Mojju), vegan Lebanese feasts (Qasti Green), canteen-priced pasta royale (Sugo) and cutting-edge pizzas (La Riposte). Here are 15 restaurants that are all great surprises, with committed chefs who are brilliantly defying a complex economic context.

The Véro-Dodat

paris midnight tour

It's a little gem of a restaurant that you don't discover by chance. Between the Louvre and the Bourse du Commerce, you first have to make your way into the (little-frequented) Passage Véro-Dodat. This arcade, decorated with wood-paneled display windows and paved with black and white rhombuses, looks like a temporal rift that takes you back to the year of its inauguration, 1826. Between art galleries, boutique studios (including Christian Louboutin's) and a luthier, stands the narrow, two-story restaurant building. Lunch is served upstairs in a futuristic setting: a tiny, midnight-blue room studded with luminous arches and mirrors, hosting a handful of marble tables. The good taste of Bertrand Cazenave, a former dancer with the Opéra before reinventing himself as a restaurateur, is evident.

The lunch menu is reasonably priced for the area (€24 for a starter-main course or main course-dessert, €29 for all three). You'll find quality game meats (prepared by the specialized company Nemrod), such as their fine wild boar sausage with wild garlic, as well as more vegetable finds, like leeks topped with red onion, mimosa egg and dill. The accompanying homemade focaccia is as soft as a top-of-the-range mattress. But it's the pastry creations that really catch the eye: Véro-Dodat, designed above all as a tea room, offers sweet gems such as fruit-filled shortbread tarts and rum babas confectioned at the last minute.

Le Véro-Dodat , 19, Galerie Véro-Dodat, 1 st arrondissement. Tel: 06-30-85-34-45.

The price of pasta has been rising steadily for the past decade. Located near Rue Saint-Anne, better known for its countless Asian establishments, Sugo has succeeded since its opening in 2023 in offering good, fresh pasta at affordable prices, between 12 and 15 euros at lunchtime. The dining room has the air of a chic cafeteria, with its large wooden tables, candles and infectious good humor. The ultra-short menu focuses on the essentials: three starters, five pasta dishes and two desserts.

Taylor Swift shocker: New album, "The Tortured Poets Department," is actually a double album

By Alex Sundby , Brian Dakss

Updated on: April 19, 2024 / 10:28 PM EDT / CBS News

Anticipation was growing at a fever pitch before Taylor Swift's latest album, " The Tortured Poets Department ," dropped at midnight EDT. But the pop superstar had a huge surprise on tap: It's actually a double album.

When Part One dropped, Swift wrote on Instagram , "All's fair in love and poetry... New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out now 🤍"

Then came the shocker, revealed in an Instagram post saying , "It's a 2am surprise: The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album. ✌️ I'd written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here's the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn't mine anymore… it's all yours. 🤍."

What's Taylor Swift's new album about?

Swift described the album as "new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time — one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure."

She also said that time has been "closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted."

"Entertainment Tonight" correspondent Denny Directo called the record some of her most vulnerable work.

"Fans were left with more questions than there were answers, so good luck trying to decipher who these songs are about, what they mean," Directo told CBS News. "… I feel like there's more heartbreak songs on this than there are love songs."

Hours ahead of the record's release, Swift said on social media that its first single was "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone, and its music video was released Friday night .

Swift praised the Grammy-nominated artist's musical experimentation and melodies "that just stick in your head forever."

"I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight," Swift said in her post .

"Fortnight" isn't the only track on the album on which Swift worked with another artist. Florence and The Machine is also featured.

What's on "The Tortured Poets Department" tracklist?

Swift posted an initial tracklist to social media in February one day after she announced the album at  the Grammys , where she won for best pop vocal album. Here's the list of all 31 songs:

  • "Fortnight"
  • "The Tortured Poets Department"
  • "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys"
  • "So Long, London"
  • "But Daddy I Love Him"
