Overall rating

I had the best time on this tour. Our tour guide was amazing he was the best. The waterfall was awesome to swim in but you had to walk at least 30 min to get there which was not a bad hike at all. The scenery was beautif ... ul and I even got a glimpse of a peacoke. The tour paid for coffee breakfast and lunch which was delicious. After the hike we went to Dole Plantation for dole whip which is pineapple ice cream.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our guide “D” was very caring of each of the persons on our group. My family enjoyed the entire trip, especially the waterfall.

Experience was awesome! Everything was well organized. Staff is insanely knowledgable and sweet. Perfect day for a hike. Lots of places to see and waterfalls to jump from!

Highly recommend! We had an enjoyable hike with Dave through the forest to three different waterfalls/pools, which were very refreshing to swim in. Dave told us lots of information about the flora and fauna, and which plants were safe to taste. The hike was relatively easy with only a few treks over a steep incline with rocks. This was definitely a highlight of our week in Maui.

Gail was sooooo awesome. She made the trip so enjoyable and was so knowledgeable about Maui. We learned so much history about Maui and about all of the plants on the island. We swam in the waterfall that was closed off to the public! It was an easy hike and enjoyable. 10/10!

Highly recommend this great hiking experience in the rainforest. Stoped at multiple waterfalls and jumped into their pools for a refreshing swim. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out many plants along the way. Not recommended for those in poor physical condition as sections of the hike are steep and difficult.

Our guide Tim was a 10! So informative and pointed out a lot of interesting things on our drive there. His knowledge is out of this world. Once we got to the Twin Falls location they had backpacks , sunscreen, bug repellent, ponchos, water and lunch for our hike. Tim taught…

Jacqueline was a very informed and helpful guide. Definitely recommend this tour. Got to see more waterfalls than general public access.

Big island waterfall tour details.

The best waterfalls on the Big Island are located on the east or windward side of the Island of Hawaii. As most visitors stay on West Hawaii (the leeward or dry side), the tour picks you up at your resort or vacation rental to take you on the drive to East Hawaii.

Start your day with pickup from your hotel in Keauhou, Kona, Waikoloa, or the Kohala Coast and embark on a full day adventure. Pass through the famous Parker Ranch on your way to the Waipio Valley Lookout and take in the views of stunning jagged cliffs along the coastline.

As your day continues, you’ll make your way along the Hamakua Coast, see ‘Akaka Falls, and take in the sights of over 2,000 different exotic plant species at the Hawaii Tropical Bioreserve & Garden. You’ll even get to enjoy a provided lunch consisting of teriyaki chicken, fish, vegetables, and steamed rice with assorted juices, snacks, and bottled water. Before making your way to Kulaniapia Falls.

Arguably the best, if not the most anticipated part of the tour is the waterfall swim. Welcome to the private Kulaniapia Falls, a 120 foot cascading waterfall that is open to only a handful of people each day. Enjoy this relaxing environment as your day winds to an end before you hit the road back to your hotel. To cap off the tour, you’ll take the scenic route on Saddle Road, which runs between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

Not only will your naturalist tell you all about the rich botanical life found throughout the park but you’ll have the opportunity to view 2 spectacular waterfalls. Akaka falls , which cascades 442-feet down a vertical cliff face carpeted in vibrant green, is truly an incredible site to behold and a must-see on a Big Island waterfall tour.

Rental shoes are available at check-in for 10$ per pair.

Activity Details

Requirements:.

  • Participants must be able to walk up and down at least eight flights of stairs
