About Us Our History Mission & Vision

Abenab was one of a number of farms where mining took place. From 1923 until 1958, the London-based 'South West Africa Company Ltd' operated it as an open pit and underground mine, with a deposit of high-grade vanadium ore collected by blasting and hand-sorting. The resort is an ideal stopover for visitors to Etosha National Park, the Hoba Meteriorite, the Waterberg Plateau, the Okavango Delta, and Victoria Falls. The original buildings date from WWI, and the lodge has sensitively and carefully preserved the original features and architecture.

Abenab Lodge is situated on a picturesque farm in Namibia and offers guests a comfortable bed and breakfast stay in the bushveld. The lodge is a perfect stopover for guests travelling to Ethosha National Park, Hoba Meteorite, or the Okavango Delta. The breakfast was delicious. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

Breakfast and dinner first class. Dinner by the pool and A1 quality. We got spoiled.

We had an amazing stay and will definitely come back again for a longer stay. Staff and management were very friendly. Food (dinner and breakfast) was delicious and all prices were very fair.

Wir hatten nach Tagen im Dachzelt, zwei erholsame Tage. Die Hütten sind einfach und sauber, die Betten sind sehr bequem und durch den Vorraum hat man viel Platz.Das Personal war total bemüht uns einen tollen Aufenthalt zu bereiten. Der Pool war zu benutzen, nicht perfekt sauber aber erfrischend. Das Essen war hervorragend an beiden Abenden. Wir haben die Zipline benutzt, es hat total Spaß gemacht. Die Anlage wirkte sehr sicher! Wir wurden noch zusätzlich von Mathew und Anna begleitet, dass hat es mir leichter gemacht!Danke!

Die Lodge besteht aus ehemaligen Arbeiterhäuschen der früheren Abenab-Mine, die wieder hergerichtet wurden. Bei unserer Ankunft gab es etwas Probleme mit der Solarenergie, die aber gelöst werden konnten. Die Häuser haben Klimaanlage und Kühlschränke, was es sonst beileibe nicht in allen Logden gibt. Die Einrichtung ist einfach und zweckmäßig, Bad ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. Sehr nahe befinden sich die Reste der ehemaligen Mine sowie das zweitgrößte menschengemachte Loch der Erde. Es mutet wie eine Geisterstadt an, die einst wohl autark existierte mit eigener Schule, Polizeistation, etc. Manager/Eigentümer betreiben Recherchen zur Mine und bieten auch eine kenntnisreiche Rundfahrt an. Erstaunt hat uns die solide Bausubstanz dieser Minenstadt.
