Aerosmith Announce ‘Peace Out’ Farewell Tour With Support From The Black Crowes
Aerosmith have just revealed an extensive North American farewell tour that will take the classic hard rock act through the rest of the year and into 2024. They teased it last week. The Black Crowes will support them on the tour. General on-sale begins May 5. Longtime Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer , who's recently been absent from the band , won't be playing.
The announcement comes months after Aerosmith canceled the final dates of their multi-year " Deuces Are Wild " concert residency in Las Vegas due to Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler 's health. In a statement at the time, the performer was said to feel " unwell ."
Now, the band's getting back on the road…for the last time. See a video trailer below.
In a joint statement, Aerosmith shared, "It's not goodbye, it's PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives."
They added regarding Kramer, "While Joey remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Last month, guitarist Joe Perry told Joe Rock of Long Island, New York's 102.3 WBAB radio station that it was unlikely AEROSMITH 's upcoming tour would feature the return of Kramer , who announced in March 2022 that he would sit out the band's concerts last year so he could "focus his full attention on his family during these uncertain times." Perry said: "That's probably one of the hardest things. I've gotta say drumming is probably one of the most athletic parts of playing in a band. So it's really hard. It's been mostly because he just physically [has been] just beating himself up over the last 50 years. So I don't know. I mean, he's still officially a member of the band, but I don't think he's gonna be sitting behind the drums, at least for this next run. Other than that, I really can't say."
Elsewhere in the 102.3 WBAB chat, Joe talked about the likelihood of new music from AEROSMITH . The legendary Boston rockers haven't released a new studio album since 2012's "Music From Another Dimension!" That effort was released when AEROSMITH 's label, Columbia Records , was reportedly going through a leadership change, and it ended up becoming a commercial disappointment.
"At this point, I can't say," Joe said about the prospect of a new AEROSMITH song or album. "I really don't know. But I know that we have a pile of material that hasn't been released. So I think we're focusing on that right now. But the main thing is just getting this tour up and running."
For the past year, AEROSMITH 's longtime drum tech John Douglas has been filling in on drums for Kramer , whose wife, Linda Gail Kramer , died last June at the age of 55. No cause of death has been revealed.
AEROSMITH played its first concert in more than two and a half years on September 4, 2022 in Bangor, Maine.
Prior to the show at Maine Savings Amphitheater, the band's last live performance took place in February 2020 in Las Vegas as part of AEROSMITH 's "Deuces Are Wild" residency.
In May 2022, AEROSMITH announced that singer Steven Tyler had entered a treatment program following a relapse, prompting the band to put their Las Vegas residency on a temporary hold.
Tyler had been struggling with drug and alcohol addiction since the mid-1980s. Over the course of the last four decades, he had relapsed several times, including in the early 2000s and 2009.
Joey has had his own health difficulties in recent years. Kramer suffered a health scare back in 2014, which was initially reported to be "heart-related complications".

Aerosmith announces farewell tour with special guests – get all the details
Aerosmith fans who don’t want to miss a thing need to check this out.
The legendary band has announced its farewell tour, dubbed "Peace Out."
“It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT!” the group said in a statement. “Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
“Fans will see one of the most significant American rock bands in history one last time during this not-to-be-missed final tour,” a press release announcing the tour said. “Every night will celebrate the five decades of Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America’s greatest rock band.”
The Black Crowes will also appear on the bill, while Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer will not.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health,” the band said.
“Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”
The 40-date North American tour will get underway Sept. 2 in Philadelphia and wrap up Jan. 26, 2024, in Montreal. The band, which has already enjoyed 10 world tours, will also play in its hometown of Boston on New Year’s Eve.
Tickets go on sale May 5 on Ticketmaster.com.
Aerosmith, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, has won four Grammys during a long and decorated career, charting eight songs in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, including the No. 1 hit “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” in 1998. They’ve also had nine Top 10 albums, including “Nine Lives” and “Get a Grip,” both of which went to No. 1.
In 2022, the band had to cancel dates for its Las Vegas residency when frontman Steven Tyler entered a treatment program for substance abuse.
“As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years,” the group said in a statement.
“After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery.”

The Black Crowes Soar at Tour Kickoff: Set List, Photos, Video
The Black Crowes helped Aerosmith kick off their Peace Out farewell tour in high style on Saturday at Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center, performing a kick-ass opening set that left the crowd hungry for more.
You can see the full set list, new photos and fan-shot videos from the show below.
Fronting a powerful eight-person band featuring two backup singers, brothers Chris and Rich Robinson — who buried the hatchet and launched a reunion tour in 2021 — dedicated two-thirds of the hourlong set to songs from their first two albums, 1990's Shake Your Money Maker and 1992's The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion .

The Black Crowes were packed onto an almost comically small portion of Aerosmith's enormous stage, but Chris had no problem connecting with the massive crowd, spending the entire night strutting, preening and showing off a voice that remains remarkably strong.
Rich shined on guitar throughout the night, particularly during a showstopping "Thorn in My Pride," which found the band taking an extended instrumental detour reminiscent of the Rolling Stones ' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking."

Aerosmith have postponed the next month of their “Peace Out ” farewell tour due to health concerns by frontman Steven Tyler.
“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” Tyler wrote in a statement released on Monday. “I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”
Shows in Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Raleigh, and Washington, DC have been postponed. New dates have been added to January and February 2024. Previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled dates, and refunds will be offered for those unable to attend.

The band has broken numerous boundaries, including becoming the first rock band with a massive commercially successful hip-hop collaboration with Run DMC on "Walk This Way" and the first hard rock band to appear during a Super Bowl Halftime Show with their 2001 performance, and in 1999, Aerosmith became the first band to have their own themed attraction at Disney World in Florida and later Paris with the launch of the Rock 'N' Roller coaster starring Aerosmith.

Aerosmith is saying 'peace out' after 50 years on 40-date final tour without Joey Kramer
Time to "Get a Grip." Aerosmith is saying goodbye to the road.
The Beantown rockers will spend their 50th anniversary circling North America with a final Peace Out run of 40 dates, starting Sept. 2 in Philadelphia and wrapping next year on Jan. 26 in Montreal.
They'll play a last sayonara to their Boston hometown on New Year’s Eve amid other shows set for arenas in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Nashville, New York and other cities.
The Black Crowes will join Aerosmith for the full slate of concerts, which will celebrate the band’s five decades of music.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on May 5 via ticketmaster.com. Several VIP packages including premium seating and a photo op with the band will also be available.
To mark the occasion, the venerable rock gods created a playful dig at some of their peers who have made announcements of a final tour an Olympic sport with a “breaking news” farewell YouTube video featuring Eminem, Slash, Dolly Parton, Bill Burr, Ringo Starr and other entertainment stars expressing their disbelief that this really is farewell.
At the end of the clip, inimitable frontman Steven Tyler peers into the camera and pronounces, “And if you think we’re joking … dream on.”
The elastic-limbed Tyler will be joined by fellow Toxic Twin Joe Perry on guitar, as well as bassist Tom Hamilton and guitarist Brad Whitford. Drummer Joey Kramer, who sat out Aerosmith’s recent round of Deuces Are Wild residency shows in Las Vegas, is also opting to skip this last goodbye.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed,” the band said in a statement.
Last year, Aerosmith postponed its Las Vegas shows when Tyler, who turned 75 in March, voluntarily checked himself into rehab in May after a drug relapse. The singer has also been the topic of a sexual assault lawsuit from a relationship with a 16-year-old girl in the 1970s. Tyler has denied the accusations.
Over Aerosmith’s 50-year career, the band rollicked through grimy blues-dusted rock with “Same Old Song and Dance,” “Sweet Emotion” and definitive power ballad “Dream On” in their first decade; the ‘80s watched them literally knock down the wall between rock and rap in a pioneering remake of “Walk This Way” with Run-D.M.C., followed by a slew of MTV hits (“Angel,” “Rag Doll,” “Love in an Elevator,” “Janie’s Got a Gun”); while the ‘90s maintained their resurgent popularity with “Livin’ on the Edge,” “Cryin’” and the polarizing Diane Warren-written mega-ballad, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”
Aerosmith entered this century with a continued presence on rock radio (“Jaded,” “Just Push Play,” “Legendary Child”), while retaining their status as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s premiere live acts.

The Black Crowes Kick Off Tour Tonight In Nashville
The Black Crowes kicks off its tour tonight (Tuesday, April 2) promoting its new album, "Happiness Bastards." The group will play at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, the first of 35 dates that will take the group around North America through May 7, and then to Europe for shows through early June — including festival sin Sweden and Estonia. The Crowes will also perform at the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival on July 19 in St. Paul.
The band, still led by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson with longtime bassist Sven Pipien , has been back on the road since 2021 and has made some lineup changes since. But Rich tells us that the duo is enjoying the fresh energy Crowes' current lineup is bringing to the performances:
"To me the excitement of all the new guys brought this sort of new viewpoint to the band, y'know what I mean, because they're excited to be there, we're excited to be there, and so it has all these different moving parts. I think it all felt kind of new and old at the same time, 'cause Chris and I, how we work, has always been the same. It’s never really changed ." SOUNDCUE :29
"Happiness Bastards" came out March 15 and is the first new Black Crowes album in 15 years. The group did release a covers EP, "1972," during 2022.
The Black Crowes has retained its opening spot on Aerosmith 's Peace Out: The Farewell Tour and is waiting for word on new dates. The full itinerary for the Crowes tour can be found at theblackcrowes.com.

The band has broken numerous boundaries, including becoming the first rock band with a massive commercially successful hip-hop collaboration with Run DMC on “Walk This Way” and the first hard rock band to appear during a Super Bowl Halftime Show with their 2001 performance, and in 1999, Aerosmith became the first band to have their own themed attraction at Disney World in Florida and later Paris with the launch of the Rock ‘N’ Roller coaster starring Aerosmith. About The Black Crowes
In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts, Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed kick in the ass with Shake Your Money Maker . Fueled by singles “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” “She Talks To Angels,” and the break-through cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle,” the band immediately took the rock world by storm, topping Rolling Stone’s “Best New American Band Readers Poll” in late 1990. The Black Crowes went on to release eight studio and four live albums, selling in the tens of millions along the way; they sold out shows around the world; had legendary guitarist Jimmy Page join as a member; got kicked off a tour with ZZ Top for insulting the sponsor; got screwed by bad record deals; got married and divorced, fought amongst themselves and against the rest of the world. In other words, they’ve done everything a legendary rock group should do

The Black Crowes and Lainey Wilson Team for Epic Performances at the Opry [Watch]
O n Tuesday night (April 2), the Black Crowes brought out country’s own Lainey Wilson during the opening night of their Happiness Bastards Tour, which kicked off at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.
Wilson was able to perform not one, but two songs with the band. The Black Crowes have never featured another artist on one of their recorded songs, but plucked Wilson for a recent collaboration on “ Wilted Rose .”
It was no coincidence that the opening night of their tour happened in Music City. Wilson had no show booked for April 2, so it was an opening for the “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” singer to make an appearance.
Christopher Robinson, the lead singer of the Crowes, brought Wilson out to a delighted crowd, noting: “I guess if you’re gonna play the Grand Ole Opry, you’ve gotta have a bonafide country superstar.”
In video captured during the concert, you see Wilson chuckle a little bit as she grabs the microphone and shouts, “Y’all give it up for the Black Crowes, c’mon!”
They then proceed to play their collab, “Wilted Rose,” for the first time for a live audience. Watch:
Subscribe to Taste of Country on Youtube
Wilson then joined the Black Crowes for a rendition of their hit song “She Talks to Angels.”
