Simplify Turkish train options and travel

Olga from Amber Travel helped us navigate the complex Turkish railway system. Unlike other travellers we met on our travels from Greece to Izmir to Cappadocia to Ankara to Istanbul, we never worried because we knew our seats were secured. Since it was difficult to figure out the railway system and find sites and comprehensive information in English, we were so happy to have the reliable help and expertise and the journeys on our fast train and sleeper trains were easy and seamless.

Our Lycian Way trip with Amber was superb. They helped us to plan hikes that were the right length for us and found great accommodations along the route. Amber also organised quite a few bus transfers to and from the hikes, all the buses were quite new and driven very safely. Very well organised all round. Thanks Amber!

Turkish Railways had rejected by US debit card, so I got the recommendation from Man in Seat 61 to use them to buy sleeper tickets. Somehow they were able to get them when it seemed they were all booked! Very professional and timely responses, 5 stars.

We have just returned from a week Lycian Way east self-guided tour with Amber Travel and cannot praise their organisation, planning and support highly enough. From the first enquiry through booking and the tour itself they were very professional and responsive. We are used to travelling independently but the transfers, drivers, hotels and daily walking instructions worked perfectly and were really well thought out to get the best out of spectacular scenery and a lovely country. They were there when we needed them but left us to enjoy a great trip when we didn’t. We strongly recommend Amber Travel.

We had one of our best holidays ever doing the self-guided walk on the Lycian Way. The itinerary was perfect with challenging days, interspersed with easier days. Accommodation was varied and brilliantly located. Loved that the walk feels so off the beaten track, a walk which would not be easy to organise yourself without local knowledge. The walks were varied with just the right amount of challenge. Super scenery and fab breakfasts. We liked that we were able to be independent at the same time knowing that Amber Travel were on hand if we needed them. We found all the staff obliging, helpful, super knowledgeable and flexible. Can't recommend this company enough. Outstanding!! Thank you

Amber Travel is an outstanding travel agencies, extremely responsive, efficient always responding on a timely manners to all your questions, ( and believe me I did ask a lot of questions) Olga is a gem

Without a Travel Agent, you are on your own.

“Amber is so amazing. She is not only by far one of the most dedicated travel professionals I have ever met, she is also an incredible human who gives to her community with a kindness that is inspiring. Amber has helped us on numerous occasions with our travel needs. Sometimes those needs are just to “dream travel” and she still provides the same exceptional service for a one night hotel room as she does for an entire luxury travel package. I truly feel that her tag line is accurate. “Without a travel agent, you are on your own”. I would rather travel safely knowing Amber is there to support us than travel “alone”. HIGHLY recommend Amber Pietan!” Dawn S.

The Kremlin and Red Square in Moscow, Russia

The Kremlin and Red Square were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990.

Russian secrets? Here’s the ultimate Moscow itinerary

Tour architectural wonders, discover Soviet history, and savor local flavors in this gold-domed city.

Moscow is a city where the past and the future live side by side. Here you will find everything from medieval fortresses and Soviet monoliths to glass skyscrapers and innovation centers. Moscow’s spirit mirrors its uncontainable size. Muscovites, the city’s approximately 12 million residents, are always on the run, so be prepared to keep pace with their energy. Here’s how to make the most of three days in Moscow .

Day 1: Mosaics and metro stations

9 a.m. Navigate the labyrinth of the Moscow metro , a living, breathing work of art crisscrossing the metropolis. Expect marble arches and pillars, gilded mosaics, and sparkling chandeliers. Each station is unique. Some of the most beautiful stations are Kievskaya and Prospekt Mira (brown line); Mayakovskaya (dark green line); and Ploschad Revolutsii , Arbatskaya and Elektrozavodskaya (dark blue line). Getting lost on the metro is a rite of passage. However, ahead of the 2018 World Cup, most trains introduced route maps and announcements in English to make navigation easier for outsiders.

Three stations take you to Red Square, but Ploschad Revolutsii is ideal. Its platforms have numerous bronze statues of soldiers with their dogs. Locals often stop by to rub the dogs’ noses as they make a wish. ( See pictures of Moscow’s surprisingly elegant subway stations. )

9:45 a.m. Head to the iconic Red Square to see the red-bricked towers and the eastern wall of the Moscow Kremlin, Vladimir Lenin’s mausoleum, the State Historical Museum , and the psychedelically colorful domes of the St. Basil’s Cathedral . Queue early outside Lenin’s mausoleum for a spooky date with the man behind the Russian Revolution, who has rested in this tomb, preserved in chemicals, for almost 100 years .

The postcard-perfect St. Basil’s Cathedral was built in the 16th century to commemorate Tsar Ivan the Terrible’s victory over the Khanate of Kazan and the transformation of Moscow into a major center of power. Drop in for a quick visit or keep walking south towards the Moskva River and the Bolshoi Moskvaretskii Bridge for spectacular views of the Kremlin and the Red Square.

a woman in the rain in central Moscow, Russia

Another structure that will catch your eye is the golden-domed Cathedral of Christ the Savior , just southwest of the Kremlin. Unlike St. Basil’s, this Cathedral did not survive the communist persecution of religion. The original was destroyed in 1931 and the area was converted to an open-air swimming pool, the largest in the world. The fall of communism brought with it religious freedom and the Cathedral was rebuilt in the 1990s. If you turn around, you will see one of the “Seven Sisters,” the Stalinist monoliths that command Moscow’s skyline .

11:45 a.m. Head back towards the Red Square for a shopping trip at GUM (pronounced goom ), the largest department store in Russia. Much like Russia, the store has undergone many changes. Built in imperial times as a massive trading center, GUM’s Soviet-era badge of honor was being relatively better stocked than other stores. Today, it’s a glittering mall that houses Hermès and Louis Vuitton. Even if you don’t shop, the long, arched galleries and concave glass roof make it an architectural delight. Next, make your way to the third floor for Stolovaya No. 57 (Canteen No. 57), a Soviet-style restaurant with local dishes and a laid-back vibe. Try the syrniki (roughly translated as cheesecakes), buckwheat with mushroom sauce, or meat cutlets.

2 p.m. The Moscow Kremlin , the seat of the Russian Government, was built in the 15th century and houses cathedrals, museums, and unique objects from imperial Russia. Start with the Armory Chamber , a treasure trove of Fabergé eggs, imperial dresses, and gifts presented to the Tsars. Don’t miss the Diamond Fund inside the Armory where guests can marvel at the crown of Tsarina Catherine the Great.

the inside of Marinsky Theater during a ballet in Moscow, Russia

The Bolshoi Theatre hosts ballet and opera performances, including classics like Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.

Take a stroll around Cathedral Square to admire the golden domes that mushroom from Orthodox cathedrals. Look out for the 19-foot-high bronze Tsar Bell for great photo ops. The nearby Tsar Cannon is also worth a look. Wrap up in the Kremlin Garden and see if you can spot Cosmos, the lone oak tree that was planted by Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, two days after his extraordinary flight in April 1961 . ( Trees that traveled to space now live on Earth. Here’s where to find them. )

7 p.m. Finish your day with a ballet or opera performance at Bolshoi Theatre , one of the strongholds of Russian theatrical excellence since the 19th century. If you are lucky, you might be able to catch Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece Swan Lake on the stage where it premiered in 1877. Performances sell out so book in advance, and arrive early to enjoy the neoclassical building. Russians take theater seriously so wear your best outfit.

Day 2: Fine art and food

10 a.m. The extraordinary entrance to Tretyakov Gallery welcomes guests to Moscow’s most definitive collection of fine arts spanning almost a millennium. You can explore 12th-century icons and mosaics or get lost in the brushstrokes of 19th- and 20th-century Russian heavyweights such as Ivan Shishkin and Ilya Repin. The New Tretyakov wing showcases artists from the Soviet period.

1 p.m. Soak up some summer sun in one of Moscow’s most dynamic open spaces: Park Gorky , a hipster paradise that underwent a major makeover from a Soviet relic to the center of cultural life. Grab some food on the go or sit down for a meal at Grill Bar Zharovnya or La Boule . Wander through the open-air sculpture museum, Muzeon , the home of countless statues and symbols from the Soviet times. Muzeon runs next to the Moscow River and offers a great view of the almost 322-foot-high statue of Tsar Peter the Great.

7 p.m. One place you must dine in Moscow is White Rabbit . The restaurant, which has been featured among the top 50 in the world, owes its success to chef Vladimir Mukhin, whose culinary prowess was featured on Netflix’s Chef’s Table . White Rabbit serves Russian food with innovative twists; think sea urchin caviar and beetroot hummus. Quite fittingly, there is also rabbit on the menu. Did we mention the restaurant’s glass dome offers spectacular views of Moscow City?

Day 3: Markets and museums

10 a.m. If the Moscow Kremlin is stately, then the colorful Izmailovo Kremlin cultural center has a bit of a Disneyland feel to it. Built in 2007, Izmailovo is a great place for a stroll before bargain-hunting at Vernisazh , a flea market with stalls selling Cold War memorabilia. You will find stamps, banknotes, pins, propaganda posters, and even steel mugs from Soviet times. Score great deals on matryoshkas , Russian nesting dolls; khokhloma , hand-painted wooden handicrafts; and Baltic amber jewelry. Don’t miss contemporary twists on traditional Russian gifts, such as nesting dolls of modern politicians and music boxes shaped like Orthodox cathedrals. For a market of its popularity, Vernisazh prices are a steal and you can haggle without hesitation. Saturdays and Sundays are the best days to visit.

Russian nesting dolls in Moscow, Russia

Russian nesting dolls make the perfect souvenir, and are sold throughout Moscow, including at the Vernisazh flea market.

1 p.m. By now, you have probably got the sense that there is more to see in Moscow than time to see it. So pick what you crave most. Want more of Orthodox churches? Head to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Novodevichy Convent , which was once used by the women of the Tsar’s family. Still looking for souvenirs and gifts? Make your way to Stari Arbat (Old Arbat), a historical cobblestone street of shops and restaurants. Want to delve deeper into Russian history? Visit the State Historical Museum on the Red Square. A Cold War buff? The Bunker 42 Museum located 18 floors below Taganskaya metro was a strategic command center and an anti-nuclear shelter. A fan of Russian literature? Check out the Gogol House and the Bulgakov Museum . Want another serving of art? Try the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts or the Garage Museum .

8 p.m. End your stay in Moscow with a nice meal. Café Pushkin offers antique interiors, delicious Russian dishes, and five-star service. Even if you don’t eat here, grab a cup of the Pushkin chai, a signature Earl Grey blend with citrusy overtones. For casual fare, go to Varenichnaya (multiple locations), which has an extensive menu of Russian dishes and decor straight out of a Soviet poster. Mari Vanna (multiple locations) is another choice Russian chain.

Moscow is also a great place to try the food from other Soviet states. Head to Khachapuri to try the namesake khachapuri , Georgian stuffed-cheese bread. For authentic Uzbek plov , make a reservation at Uzbekistan . Want to keep enjoying the outdoors? Bar Strelka is a trendy spot with great views, excellent food, and a dance floor to keep the night going .

Amber Alert issued for Albuquerque 10-year-old

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.  (KRQE) –  Tuesday New Mexico State Police released that the white Hyundai Sonata involved in the recent Amber Alert has been located, but 10-year-old Carlos Hernandez is still missing. NMSP also reports they believe he is still with Angelique but their method of travel is unknown.

Monday NMSP issued an Amber Alert for the 10-year-old. Police say he was abducted by his non-custodial mother, Angelique Sanchez, 39, and was last seen around 1 p.m. Monday at 1041 Lamberton Place in northeast Albuquerque.

According to NMSP, on Monday the pair was last seen traveling in a white Hyundai Sonata with a New Mexico chile license plate reading “BDJZ56.” Carlos is 4 feet, 5 inches tall, weighs 60 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair. Angelique is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair.

NMSP spotted Carlos with Angelique Monday at around 12:30 p.m. at New Mexico Human Services. However, as officers attempted to contact Angelique, she fled the area in the Sonata with Carlos inside the vehicle. Police say she rammed into an NMSP patrol vehicle while fleeing the scene and was last seen driving the wrong way on Menaul Boulevard. NMSP did not initiate a pursuit because Carlos was in the vehicle.

Sanchez had her parental rights suspended by the courts after she struck Carlos at a methadone clinic. She has had a warrant out for her arrest since April 12, after she did not return him after being allowed to see him over spring break. A counselor at Carlos’ school advised his legal guardian that Sanchez was attempting to enroll the child at a new school.

Anyone with information is asked to call NMSP at 505-841-9256 or 911.

San Diego-area beach among best in U.S., according to Travel + Leisure

S AN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — It may come as no surprise that one San Diego-area beach has been highlighted in a popular travel magazine for being among the best in the U.S.

Earlier this month, Travel + Leisure released a list spotlighting 25 of the best beaches across the country. The publication used criteria like sand quality, wave levels, public transportation, accessible parking, level of seclusion, available activities, among other factors.

A handful of California beaches made the cut , including one on the outskirts of America’s Finest City. Can you guess which sandy strip earned the praise?

Travel + Leisure considers Coronado Beach among the best nationally, stating, “Coronado Beach, a 1.75-mile stretch of golden sand sparkling with bits of the mineral mica, is just the family-friendly icing on the cake. Swimmers, surfers, and sunbathers flock to the coast of Coronado Island, staying until evening to witness the gorgeous sunsets.”

The magazine also mentioned the warm and and sunny weather that the San Diego region is known for, making beach days a perfect pastime.

“While you’re there, visit the storied Hotel del Coronado for a bite and a tipple en plein air. The adjoining dog-friendly section of Coronado Beach, dubbed North Beach, is a popular pull as well,” Travel + Leisure noted.

Other Golden State beaches made the best-of-the-best list included the following:

— Pope Beach, Lake Tahoe

— Santa Monica Beach, Santa Monica

— Carmel Beach, Carmel-by-the-Sea

In case you didn’t have a reason to head to the ocean, this shout out from Travel + Leisure makes for a good excuse to hit the the sand at Coronado Beach.

Travel on Over to See America Ferrera's Sisterhood With Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel

Pants equal love and america ferrera’s bond with the sisterhood of the traveling pants costars blake lively, amber tamblyn and alexis bledel equals true friendship..

No matter how far  America Ferrera ,  Blake Lively ,  Amber Tamblyn  and  Alexis Bledel  travel on their own separate paths, somehow, they will always find their way back to each other.

Case in point? Almost 20 years after  The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants  premiered, the costars reunited to celebrate America's fantastic performance in  Barbie . As she wrote on Instagram of the moment, "I love these women with all my heart."

And fans loved it with all their hearts when America, who is turning 40 April 18, received an Oscar nomination for the role. Naturally, Amber, Blake and Alexis all FaceTimed her to express their excitement .

"It was hilarious and funny and emotional, and it's wonderful to be celebrated and held up by my sister," the  Ugly Betty alum recalled to  Variety . "These women who I've had the honor of growing up with in this industry and being loved and cheered on and supported by them. Which we all do for each other. They're amazing, and such a gift in my life."

A gift that keeps on giving as these are just a few examples of the times the actresses— who also starred in the 2008 sequel based on  Ann Brashares ' book series—have come together over the years. And because they're friends first, it sometimes slips their minds how much nostalgia they can create when they're all in the same room.

"We made the first movie 20 years ago," America explained on  The Late Show With Stephen Colbert  in January. "So we'll go out for brunch, I'll be like, ‘Why are…? Oh! Because we're the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! Like, I forget."

It was like 2 a.m. It was like, 'I don't want to go, but all of us are going to be woken up by our terrible children at 6 in the morning.'"

"It's an amazing thing to have a friendship that makes you feel like you're 20 but also has all the depth of being alive together through all of it," she added. "It's an incredible blessing."

So here's to the pants, and the sisterhood. And to celebrate America's next decade—and to hold us over as we wait and see if a  Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3  will ever happen —here's a look back at more of the costars BFF moments.

2023 Reunion

Blake Lively ,  Amber Tamblyn ,  Alexis Bledel and  America Ferrera reunite at a SAG-AFTRA Foundation panel event for Barbie , which featured Ferrera as a speaker, in December 2023.

"Today on International Women's Day, I'm giving a shout out to the women I have been through hell and back with. The women I don't get to see enough, but when I do, we pick right back up where we left off," Amber wrote on Instagram in honor of International Women's Day in 2019.

"Not just my friends, but my sisters, my mentors, my inspiration—Artists, poets, activists, women. We can and do empower each other. When women support each other, we accomplish amazing things. Celebrate the women who #LeanInTogether with you," Lively captioned a group plane shot in 2016.

It's become tradition for the  Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars Amber and America to ring in the New Year together.

"Starting the New Year off with blessings from my Sisterhood. We've got work to do for the next generation. Let's get to it. #TIMESUP," Ferrera captioned a sweet photo with her gal pals to kick off 2018.

When these four get together it usually includes girl talks, funny faces, pictures and lots of hugs and we're all for it.

No matter what the project, Bledel, Lively, Ferrera and Tamblyn are there to support each other. They attend each other's movie premieres, root for them on stage and show up to watch their plays.

"Look who dropped by my matinee today and made my day! #MySisterhood ! Love these women and the support they constantly show. @amberrosetamblyn , Blake & Alexis. #lipstogetherteethapart @2stnyc," Ferrera wrote.

Whether it's the Times Up movement or walking in the Women's March in matching hats, these girls have each other's backs.

Their sisterhood is being passed down to the next generation through baby moments, being aunts to one another's children and gushing over each other's pregnancies along the way.

"Hipsterhood of the Traveling Pants," Tamblyn captioned one photo. "Sisterhood of the traveling Pinot," she captioned another.

Whether they're fighting (pretend) on the set of a magazine shoot, or drawing the missing sister into a throwback photo, the sisterhood is clearly here to stay.

The besties that brunch together, stay together.

Self Guided Bike tour in Lycia

8th August 2020

Ryan and Simon 2 pax

Just got back yesterday, a wonderful trip indeed if not a little bit hot, but I can't say you didn't warn us :)

Organisation of the whole thing was spot on, from the transfers to the hotels knowing we are coming and the GPS maps were all great.

I will be happy to leave some positive reviews this weekend when I have a bit more time.

The Turkish people were very nice, scenery beautiful and the Beer abundant! I will be recommending this to people for sure. We did all of the activities recommended in the notes and enjoyed them thoroughly, so great recommendations!

A few highlights from me:

Dalyan - very beautiful town (as long as you avoid the couple of tacky bars where a lot of fellow Brits seemed to congregate.) We also thoroughly enjoyed the mud baths and lake swim!

Gocheck - Lovely marina, stopped in this bar where the seats were in the sea water just past the shoreline so you could keep your feet cool...was a really cool bar and very nice area.

Oludeniz hill climb to top of butterfly valley -. What a killer this was, very satisfying once it was done though!

A very simple one but still memorable for me - after we got the lift from Camp Shiva to the top of the hill, we did about 3-4 miles riding and stopped in the very rustic looking Village, I imagine they don't get many tourists around there and the locals were happy to introduce themselves, we had Turkish Tea which had been prepared over a wood stove on the roadside, and it was a lovely 30 min stop where it felt very Turkish.

Patara - Nice chilled town, enjoyed this stop and the rest day. Took a horse ride through the ancient city and on the sand dunes which was great.

Kas - What a beautiful town, almost wish we had an extra night here just to try out some of the great looking restaurants.

Thanks for all your help in organising a great trip. Oh, and thanks for taking off my phone mount! nearly forgot that!

UNESCO Total tour + Lycian Way + Kars and Kackar 42 day

Hello Paul and Yesim,

I would like to repeat that we liked the tour very much and enjoyed everything that we saw and experienced.

Please take our review with a grain of salt as it is our personal opinion and some other travelers may like/dislike different things.

We thought that the tour was well thought out and showed different sides of Turkey (history, geography, agriculture, people, and food).  We liked that we used public transportation where it was appropriate.

It was very intensive/packed program - we were leaving at 9:00am and getting to next hotel between 9pm and 10:30pm.

We were ready to switch from history to hiking on day 12 (or it would be a day off in original program). Good call.

Guided hike worked out really well - we loved it. We are definitely recommending it to our friends and may come back to do some more if we are near Turkey in the future.

We loved the Barhal village approach hike - thank you! GPS helped a lot and we definitely used hiking poles on the rocky portion of the hike.

All hotels were in good locations - close to attractions and restaurants.

Thank you for accommodating our request for non-smoking rooms - it really helped.

We liked both home-stays - during the hike and in Barhal. Food was outstanding and we enjoyed interacting with the owners.

First of all, I would like to note that not only we were able to see different areas of Turkey, we were also able to interact with guides from different areas, different background, different ages, different views on life/politics/religion - we really liked it.

Timucin - outstanding. We connected with him from the start and it was an enjoyable week. His English is very good (probably better than mine...). He was knowledgeable about history and local culture and was willing to share his knowledge.

Fatih - very good. Good English and lots of information to share. He also gave us tutorial on farming and showed us his family farm :-)

Ani - very good hiking guide. We loved hiking with Ani. She adjusted to our pace in a first hour and it was enjoyable all throughout. She also gave us some historical information and showed us local plants growing on the trail. She had a good rapport with all accommodation owners and local vendors and we were able to communicate with them with her help.

Timucin, Fatih, and Ani knew the program and coordinated all movements without our involvement - it was perfect as we did not have time and did not need to look at the program and decide what to do next - we loved it.

In summary, we had a terrific trip and probably will come back to Turkey in the near future with our Turkish friend. Maybe we will talk her into doing some hiking.

Thank you very much!

Lycian Way and boat trip

Dear Amber-Travel-Team,

we are just back from our self-guided trip on Lycian Way West with your company and want to thank you for a great week in Turkey. Our expectations were topped - carefully selected accommodations offside from mass-tourism, very welcoming hosts, a perfect description for walking and good tips for coffee stops. We met many interesting people and got insight into the Turkish way of life. It was really a great experience! Plus: our boat trip to Kekova and visit to Myra organized by your company was much more expensive than planned but to have our own boat was a real surprise and an experience we wouldn't want to miss!

Thank you so much. We will highly recommend your agency and hope to do the eastern part of the Lycian Way next year with your company.

Best regards!

Dear Paul I just want to say thank you on behalf of our group for a very well organised and wonderful trip. The hotels were amazing ( even with all the Brits at the Olive Grove) and we all especially loved the Lighthouse and Montenegro Hotels, both for the spectacular views and the fabulous freshly prepared delicious food. The three girls who walked the whole trek loved each day but said the last day to Kas was their least favourite. My favourite day was the walk from Montenegro to Olive Grove and Kim enjoyed the walk from the Lighthouse. If we did another walk we would probably choose October, when the weather is a little cooler. Our night on Kassie was wonderful, so thanks for organising those tickets as well. We danced on Kythira ( at the end of season village dance) and had our book club lunch with 40 people and the author of the book , so all in all a very memorable holiday. Take care and thanks again for everything. Kind regards Margaret

Family Activity Holiday

28th July 2019

everything was so good - trust me; we have had many conversations about what we enjoyed the most and we all keep saying the same thing - every day was AMAZING and the week perfectly put together’   ‘This has been probably our best family holiday EVER! Everything about it from booking; to the guides - Zeb and Paul - to the other families and everyone we met made us feel special. The programme that Paul has put together was perfect for us - he's thought about everything and knows his stuff - we learnt very quickly to take his advice! The lazy boat day was the perfect start and helped us ease in to the holiday; get to know Zeb and Paul without feeling too stressed or overwhelmed....and the food was on another level - WOW! Day 2 on the kayaks was again; perfect - Paul's expert local knowledge meant that we avoided the crowds; were immersed in the culture and history of the area and had loads of fun - once again; hats off to Pau for a superb spot for lunch. Day 3 was a hike with Zeb; which again was awe inspiring - A well chosen route; that was both challenging and enjoyable. Lunch was again a highlight; this time in a mountain village home; trying some local delicacies - pancakes and Iram. So generous and accommodating - felt really special. Zeb's local knowledge and enthusiasm led us to an off the programme stop at a small mountain village where we were introduced to smoked ice - cream. We were a little worried that the mountain biking straight after the trek would be a bit too much; but nothing could be further from the truth. This was again challenging; especially for our 10 year old; but also achievable. A good combination of rugged mountain terrain and smoother small roads leading to a picnic by a mountain spring - really felt quite special; especially as there was no one else around! The minibus follows you for the majority of the time; so if your confidence or skill leaves you; there is always the option to jump on to the next section. The thrilling descent is aptly named -it really does leave you with your heart in your mouth! The day ends with a swim in the sea at one of the few 'beaches' - great way to end the day. Next up was the free day; although Paul provided plenty of options to choose from - we chose a day visit to the 'Greek Island' which for us was the perfect 'chill day' - visiting more magical cultural sites; swimming in crystal clear water and visiting the blue cave - no spoilers on this one as it is a wonder best 'discovered'! The final day of activities took us to a gorge in the mountains and tubing - a thrilling ride in small dinghy's along the river. This was followed up by a mud bath and swim in a natural spring - we even had time left for the kids to try out the zip wire - just great fun. The evening and week was rounded off with another meal out with Paul and the group at an expertly selected restaurant - a great way to end a magical week; with strangers that we now consider friends. Sad to leave but grateful for an amazing experience that will be long remembered. If any of the other holidays offered as well put together; you've got yourself lifetime customers!’

Lycian Way Group Tour

6th June 2019

I'm sorry I was a bit long to give you a feed back about the hiking I did with amber travel from 13/05 to 20/05. I had a wonderfull hiking week. Annie has such a gift to organise things about walking: timing, knowledge of the area, ability to communicate in the group and toward the people who were hosting us in the week. I have to say I was very impress.

I couldn't have done without help of professionnals, because I'm not use to walk in the nature alone, even if I love to walk, I have no orientation knowledge in the nature. Annie made it easy for us, and always being carefull about limits so it stays relaxfull for us.

Everything was so good organise: transports, accomodation, food, itinery. I could swim as promise. And your team was very reactive when my bus and all my belongings left without me, to adapt plans and find solutions 🙂

I don't how to thanks Amber travel so I can't stop repeating it: thank you!

Please send this message to Annie as well and if she's all right about it send me her contact. I would like to read what Annie write about to travel without doing too much waste. I don't know if Annie told you but I had a small personnal challenge while I was walking. I was trying to collect as much garbage as I could and I did collect a few bags (not plastic ones, new ecological material one) of garbage.

I would be very fond to do a bike travel as well, with amber travel. But if I come back in Turkey this year (I hope so but I have to see if it's possible about time and stuff)  it would be late like november of december. Do you still organise bike trip at that time or is it too much winter weather? It's just an information I'm asking to see if it would be manageable. At this point I'm only making plans.

Keep in touch and I can do something to give back all Amber travel gave me, fell free to ask.

Hi Yesim , we,ve just  arrived at fethiye and I want to say thank you for your hard work on organising the last few days.

I warmed to you when I wanted to book 1st class from Ankara to Kars. Your colleague explained that the 1st class single occupancy rooms were booked out by travel companies and released at a later stage. He booked me 1st class seats with a guess that he could book what I wanted. I went with it and He did it. I then realised then that you are not a booking agency but a travel agency without the short term “ get what you can”.

From that  experience,I booked the three day itinerary with you. I usually book my own travels but I could not have done better than you.

Necip was a sweetie, polite , knowledgable, kind, adaptable, a real gentleman. The Hotel was exactly what I was hoping for.

So in conclusion, thank you. Seat61 is asking for feedback , I will be contacting them.

If you would like any reference ,I’d be pleased to help

Dogu Express Train

18th April 2019

Paul, I got back to Melbourne on Tuesday.  The Dogu Express was better than I had expected.  Wonderful!  Magnificent scenery and very helpful rail staff. Only surprise was the very low number of foreign tourists.  Outward I don't think I saw one. Coming back I think there were two...  only. 10 minutes before the train left Kars, I saw a few folk still able to buy tickets....  presume for seats (only). Appeared to me all the 2bed-compartments, and 4bed couchettes, were occupied. Again....  thanks for your help. Regards...J Z

Dear Yesim, I take the opportunity to once more thank you very much for your kind assistance in all travel aspects. We had an excellent experience and all trains booked through you were on time and just a wonderful way of exploring Turkey and Iran. The train from Ankara to Tatvan was quite empty, so we found our 4 bed compartment empty and just for ourselves. The train to Tabriz was also nice. I will recommend your agency to other fellow travellers. Best, Philipp

We are debating whether that was the very best walking trip we have ever taken (out of many). I was enraptured by the flowers, and swam at every opportunity in the streams and sea. The route was very well planned , balancing a pretty tough days with fascinating time pottering around ruins. Comment on accommodation. We loved the authentic nights in Antalya and on the last beautiful village. The taxi pick ups was excellent and courteous. WE would definitely recommend Amber to other people- and I got your address from a previously satisfied customer.

Early Season Lycian Tour

31st March 2019 E Cooke 3 pax

Just some quick feedback on the holiday we booked with you. I thought it was great. All the arrangements went very smoothly. We liked all the accommodation and people were kind and friendly towards us. Its also a fantastic walk of course and we were helped by having your excellent notes and the GPS. All round it was fantastic. I have copied this response for my friends and they may have some comments that might be helpful. (the only thing I should probably add is that we wished we had withdrawn more money at the airport because Muzzy's did not take credit cards - I think because it was the beginning of the season - so we had to get out more money). Might also be a good idea to alert people to how cold it might be at night so they come with enough warm clothes at that time of year. But overall the weather was very good, food delicious, scenery breathtaking and we even got a couple of swims in. It was also good there were so few tourists around. Many thanks Paul and team - we had a great time.

In brief, every organisational part of our holiday meshed like clockwork and the human contact of our walking was helpful and personal. We thoroughly enjoyed the holiday in its entirety. The one aspect which would have been useful would have been a comment in the initial instructions that a visa is needed to go to Turkey! In addition to the route notes we greatly appreciated the additional information notes - particularly those of around Patara. This having been the start of the season we met small numbers of convivial fellow walkers - some from Amber Travel and others from across Europe,  saw splendid flowers but not many birds and would readily recommend the holiday with Amber Travel. Hi Paul and all the team.

We have just returned home after a spectacular walking holiday with Amber Travel and were keen to give you our thoughts re our trip.

Pretty much everything worked really well.

We loved the route, lots of variety and the extra length days suited us perfectly. Your choice of accommodation was spot on, we particularly enjoyed staying with the two families, one in Gey at Dumanoglu Pansiyon, where we had the most spectacular meal and the other at Ali’s House where we enjoyed the company of their son Husain and Ali’s wife who also kindly organised a visit to the Mosque. We appreciated Ali’s lift up the last bit of the climb to their house at the end of what was a long hot day.

We also enjoyed the variety of accommodation. The food was always good...both quality and quantity. Turkish cuisine really is first rate!

Baggage transfer worked perfectly and we were confident our bags would be waiting for us at our next location.

We appreciated Pauls quick response to any queries we had and it was good to know someone was there should we need help.

An Ode to Our Multi Active Trip

21st September 2020

Diane Rogan part of group of 16

Upon the Turkish coastline, on Kas we did descend. With many fun and frolics that would last us till the end. We'd meet outside the airport or our first place of stay. Where our great tour leader would tell us of our days. Then down the Xanthos river, canoeing we would go. Spotting birds and terrapins in the banks and growths. The tranquil views and waters, we'd see along the way.  Would make us stop and reminisce on our fantastic day. But soon we'd come to realise that this was just the start. With many more adventures in which we would take part. We'd hike the Taurus mountains to the grey rock summit. Where we'd view the stunning scenes, and hope we do not plummet. On the way we'd soon spot some mountain goats and horses. Admiring from a distance their beauty and  their forces. Then as our walk did finish, on the bus we did descend. But more adventures were to come before the day did end. Dropped at the Turkish sauna. Some thrills we soon did have. With pain and joy and screaming heard throughout the baths. And by the end some of us were clean both in and out. With all their muscles loosened they relaxed, their is no doubt. The next day was soon upon us and cycling we did go. Soaring through the forests and along the mountain roads. Some of us were fitter and made it to the top, of the steepest hills, whilst the rest of us did stop. But we all enjoyed the moments of mesmerising views and personalised achievements that each of us got through. And as an added bonus, when the cycling came to end. We got to spend some chill out time at the beech amongst our friends. We swam within the waters and strolled through glistening sand. Making pics and memories of this fantastic land. Then our adventures did turn, to the sea and shore. Where we sailed and kayaked and snorkelled and much more. We swam amongst the fishes where we saw a sunken tank and felt the swishing water go gently through our hands. We then soon did kayak across the tranquil sea, where some of us were better at steering, that's not me ;). Our final day did allow a time for fun and rest. We'd board a stunning gullet where we'd swim and chill and jest. The final meal then did come where we'd say our final words. We'd think about the fun we had whilst we laughed and did converse. Then that sad time did come where we would say goodbye and back towards our homeland we then did have to fly. We'll always have our memories of the joy and laughs we had, the friendships we have made. The adventures within Kas.
