FAQ About Travel Insurance to Fiji

Travel insurance typically covers trip cancellation, trip interruption, lost or stolen luggage, travel delay, and emergency evacuation. Some travel insurance packages also cover medical-related incidents too. However, remember that the exact coverage depends on the insurance policy.

Yes, medical travel insurance is almost always worth it, and we recommend taking out travel insurance whenever visiting a foreign country. Taking out travel insurance will mitigate some or all of the risk of covering those costs yourself in case you need medical attention during your stay. In general, we recommend VisitorsCoverage to travellers worldwide because it offers excellent value for money and well-rounded travel and medical benefits in its large catalogue of plans.

Health insurance doesn't cover normal holiday expenses, such as coverage for missed flights and hotels, but in case you run into medical trouble while abroad, it may cover some or all of your doctor or hospital expenses while overseas. However, not all health insurance providers and plans offer coverage to customers while abroad, and that's why it's generally best to take out travel insurance whenever you travel.

Although there's overlap, health and travel insurance are not exactly the same. Health insurance covers some or all of the cost of medical expenses (e.g. emergency treatment, doctor's visits, etc.) while travel insurance covers non-medical costs that are commonly associated with travelling (e.g. coverage for missed flights, stolen or lost personal belongings, etc.).

The cost of travel insurance depends on several factors, such as the length of the trip, the destination, the age of the traveller, and the level of coverage desired. On average, travel insurance can cost anywhere between 3% and 10% of the total cost of the trip.

A single-trip travel insurance policy covers a specific trip, while an annual one covers multiple trips taken within a one-year period. An annual policy may be more cost-effective for frequent travellers.

Yes, you can sometimes purchase travel insurance after starting your trip, but it is best to buy it before the trip begins to ensure maximum coverage. If you do need to buy insurance after you've started your trip, we recommend VisitorsCoverage , which offers a wide catalogue of online trip and medical insurance policies, most of which can be booked with immediate effect. Check out our guide to buying travel insurance late to learn more.

Yes, you can most certainly purchase travel insurance for a trip that has already been booked, although we recommend purchasing insurance as soon as possible aftwerwards to ensure all coverage is in place before your journey begins. Check out our guide to buying travel insurance late to learn more.

Travel Insurance for Fiji: A Complete Guide

Written and researched by Michael Kays (Travel Insurance Expert) | Fact Checked by Danya Kristen (Insurance Agent).

Visiting the South Pacific nation of Fiji is like stepping into a tropical paradise, with its pristine beaches, clear blue waters, vibrant coral reefs, and lush rainforests.

Whether you’re planning to unwind by the beach, partake in adventure sports, or explore the rich Fijian culture, you need to consider travel insurance for Fiji as part of your travel plans .

In this article...

Why Do You Need Travel Insurance for Fiji?

Travel insurance is essential for any international trip, and Fiji is no exception. It offers financial protection against unforeseen circumstances such as medical emergencies, trip cancellations, lost baggage, and more.

Here’s a closer look at why it’s important to get travel insurance when traveling to Fiji:

  • Medical Emergencies: Although Fiji has adequate healthcare facilities, complex medical cases may require evacuation to a country with more advanced medical facilities, like Australia or New Zealand. This can be incredibly costly. Good travel insurance covers medical emergencies and hospitalization, as well as medical evacuation, if needed.
  • Adventure Sports: Fiji offers numerous adventure sports activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, and surfing. Engaging in these activities may increase the risk of injury. Ensure your travel insurance covers adventure sports (learn more about Adventure Sports and Travel Insurance ).
  • Trip Cancellation or Interruption: Whether it’s due to personal reasons or unexpected weather events such as cyclones, sometimes trips get cancelled or cut short. Travel insurance can cover non-refundable expenses related to your trip in such situations.
  • Lost or Stolen Baggage: With travel insurance, you can be reimbursed for personal belongings that are lost, stolen, or damaged during your trip.

Understanding Your Travel Insurance Policy

When you’re comparing different travel insurance plans , there are key terms and conditions that you should understand:

  • Coverage Limit: This is the maximum amount the insurance company will pay for a covered loss.
  • Deductible : This is the amount you pay out-of-pocket for a covered loss before the insurance kicks in.
  • Exclusions : These are specific conditions or circumstances for which the insurance policy will not provide benefits .

In addition, ensure you understand the claims process of your insurance provider.

VisitCover provides a detailed guide on how to file a travel insurance claim that can help you navigate this process.

Travel Tips for Fiji

While you’re preparing for your trip to Fiji, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

  • Fiji is located in the tropics, and the country has a risk of cyclones, especially between November and April. Stay updated with the weather forecasts and plan accordingly.
  • As a traveler, be aware of your personal safety. Keep your belongings secure and avoid isolated areas, especially after dark.
  • If you’re planning to engage in adventure sports, ensure that the equipment is safe and the operators are licensed.
  • Carry a basic first-aid kit and any prescription medications you need. Also, protect yourself from mosquito bites to avoid mosquito-borne diseases.

FAQs About Travel Insurance for Fiji

1. Is travel insurance mandatory for Fiji?

While travel insurance is not mandatory for traveling to Fiji, it is highly recommended to protect yourself against unexpected expenses.

2. What should my travel insurance policy cover for a trip to Fiji?

Your travel insurance policy should ideally cover medical emergencies, including evacuation, trip cancellation or interruption, lost or stolen baggage, and personal liability. If you’re planning to engage in adventure sports, ensure these are covered as well.

3. How do I make a claim on my travel insurance policy?

The process to make a claim can vary depending on your insurance provider.

Typically, you need to notify your insurer as soon as possible, gather supporting documentation (such as medical reports, police reports, or receipts), complete a claim form, and submit it to your insurer.

Ensure you understand the claims process and the timeline to avoid any surprises later.

4. Can I buy travel insurance after I’ve left for Fiji?

While it is best to buy travel insurance before your trip starts, some insurers allow you to buy travel insurance after you’ve departed. However, there may be waiting periods or conditions, and you may not be covered for incidents that have already occurred.

5. What if I have pre-existing medical conditions?

Disclose all pre-existing conditions to your insurer when buying travel insurance. Coverage for pre-existing conditions varies among insurers. Some may provide coverage if the condition is stable, while others may exclude these from coverage.

Whether you’re traveling to Fiji for its stunning landscapes, adventure sports, or cultural experiences, it is crucial to protect your trip with appropriate travel insurance. It not only provides peace of mind but also financial protection against unforeseen situations.

As with any insurance policy, take the time to understand the coverages, exclusions, and claims process to ensure it meets your specific needs. Bon voyage!

Remember, insurance is a way to safeguard your journey to the idyllic islands of Fiji, allowing you to embrace the adventure and the unexpected with open arms, knowing you’re well protected.

Helps travelers deal with various contingencies that can occur during their trips.

The Significance of Travel Insurance

This insurance is significant because it offers travelers peace of mind and financial protection. It ensures that they are not burdened with exorbitant costs in case of unexpected incidents such as medical emergencies, trip cancellations, lost luggage, or other unforeseen events during their travels.

Pacific Harbour is a town of Viti Levu and is the self-proclaimed “Adventure Capital of Fiji.” This upscale enclave of vacation homes and resorts began its life as a residential canal development in the 1970s, and today, it’s evolving into a hot spot for adrenaline sports. Popular things to do here include river rafting on the nearby Upper Navua River, ziplining, jet skiing, surfing, 4WD adventures, and a heart-pumping dive with bull sharks in Beqa Lagoon. For more low-key activities, Pacific Harbour is also home to a popular arts village with restaurants, souvenir stalls, and cultural shows.

Fiji travel insurance: Common exclusions

Every travel insurance policy has things you won't be covered for. Common exclusions include:

  • If you purchase cover after the incident has occurred. For example, if you take cover out after you've been injured and need medical attention.
  • Pre-existing medical conditions. If you have any major medical conditions, make sure you let your insurer know before taking out a policy. Otherwise you won't be covered for claims related to that condition.
  • You travel despite government travel advice. For example, if you travel to areas that have a warning from Smartraveller, travel insurance may not cover you.
  • Incidents that occur while you're under the influence of drugs or alcohol. For example, if you go out drinking in Nadi, get injured and need medical attention, travel insurance won't cover you.
  • Driving vehicles without a licence. Like Australia, you won't be covered for medical costs or personal liability expenses if you drive without a licence in Fiji.

What add-ons should I look for?

  • Watersports like snorkelling, jet skiing and para-sailing are popular activities in Fiji. Make sure to add the right cover to your travel insurance.
  • Cruising through Fiji is a popular way to explore the area. Add cover to protect your wallet from missed port departures and pre-paid activities.

Washing machine on fire

Will I be covered for COVID-19?

Travel insurance can cover you for COVID-19 in Fiji. A policy can cover you for the following:

  • Rearrangement costs if you catch the virus and need to change your plans. Lots of comprehensive travel insurance policies let you claim up to $5,000 towards these expenses.
  • Medical costs due to COVID-19. This can include hospital expenses and RATs if you catch COVID-19 while overseas (but you won't be covered for mandatory PCRs).
  • Expenses if you need to isolate. For example, if you catch COVID while you're overseas and need to push back your flight and stay in your accommodation longer.

How do I get cheap travel insurance for Fiji?

  • Medical only or basic policies will generally be the cheaper policies on the market.
  • Use exclusive deals or promo codes to get a discount.
  • Opt for a higher excess. This will make your policy cheaper but more expensive if you have to claim.
  • Compare across a handful of travel insurers – they're not all the same.
  • Get the most value by buying your policy early. It means you're covered for longer while paying the same price.

When I travel, I don't want to fork out a lot for travel insurance. I always get something above the bare minimum though which usually only covers medical-only expenses. Flight disruptions and delayed luggage are really common, so look for a cheap policy that covers me for these things.

Gary Ross Hunter

Gary Ross Hunter Finder's travel insurance senior writer

What do I do in emergencies?

For emergencies: call 911 (police), 911 (ambulance) or 911 (fire).

In a medical emergency, call for help and then contact your insurer on their emergency assistance line.

Civil unrest, security risks, threat of terrorist attack and crime are a concern in Fiji, but you should still be eligible for travel insurance. It won't cover all of these situations but it can help cover medical costs, stolen belongings and much much more.

finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stands by our editorial principles

We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.

Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.

How we make money

We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.

Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.

Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money .

Sorting and Ranking Products

When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.

Please Note - If you are cruising around Australia you need to select Pacific. With Regions, variances can apply for Bali, Indonesia, Japan and Middle East. You are not required to enter stop-over countries if your stop-over is less than 48 hours.

If you don’t know where you’re traveling to within the next 12 months, choose Worldwide to ensure you’re covered no matter where you go. If you’re travelling to multiple countries choose the region that you are visiting that is furthest away (excluding stopovers less than 48 hours). In most cases you will be covered for the closer regions as well. For example, if you choose Europe, you will also be covered in the Middle East, Asia and Pacific.

Worldwide means anywhere in the world

Americas means USA, Canada, South America, Latin America, Hawaii and the Caribbean

Europe means all European countries, including UK

Middle East refers to the area from Syria to Yemen; Egypt to Iran

Asia generally means Asia and the Indian subcontinent. For some insurers this excludes Japan*

Pacific means the South West Pacific, Australia and Indonesia/Bali*. Select Pacific for domestic cruises in New Zealand waters

New Zealand means domestic travel within New Zealand only

*Note: Variances apply for Bali, Indonesia, Japan and Middle East. Check that your destination is covered once directed to your chosen insurer’s site.

Travel Insurance For Fiji

With its famous coral diving, white sandy beaches, and over 300 tropical islands, it’s no wonder that 180,000 Kiwis are drawn to Fiji each year! Whether you’re pining for chilled Fiji Gold, or you’re tempted to swim with turtles, Fiji caters for every taste. Can't wait to unwind in the hot springs or take a dip in the mud pools? Fiji has it all. Now we don’t like to think of holidays as risk taking ventures, but the truth is, new environments, unfamiliar territory, foreign languages and unfamiliar foods can throw any traveller for a loop. Don’t get banged up abroad- make sure you  pack travel insurance on your Fiji adventure.

Compare travel insurance for Fiji

Whether you're a budget conscious backpacker, a sucker for the surf, or a worn-out parent seeking some family R&R, it pays to compare travel insurance policies to find the right cover for your trip. A policy will cover you for unexpected accident or illness, lost luggage or theft, unforeseen trip cancellation and much more. When comparing policies, it's important to consider benefits, as well as costs

How much does travel insurance for Fiji cost?

The cost of travel insurance can vary a fair bit! Say you’re 30 (ish) years old and you’re going to Fiji for a one-week holiday. Depending on your preferred level of cover, you can expect to pay anywhere from $25 to $100. To give you an idea, we’ve outlined the costs of several policies below; Basic policies: $25 – $40.  If you’re looking for real low cost cover  1Cover’s  Medical Only Cover ( $24.71)  is the cheapest policy on our site. This policy includes unlimited medical and $1 million personal liability only. The excess you must pay towards a claim is $200.   Mid-level policies- $28 – $30.  TINZ’s  standard policy offers decent cover at just  $27.90.  This includes unlimited medical, $10,000 cancellation, $5 million personal liability and $5,000 luggage and personal effects.   Comprehensive policies -$35 (ish) – $80.  1Cover’s  comprehensive policy at   $33.30  offers generous cover with a excess of $200. Their policy includes unlimited medical, unlimited cancellation, $5 million personal liability, $15,000 luggage, $25,000 accidental death, $5,000 hospital cash, $25,000 personal disability, $5,000 for travel documents and $50,000 travel expenses. *All prices accurate at time of writing July 2019.

What will my policy cover?

If your Fiji trip takes a downward turn for any of the following reasons, comprehensive cover will throw you a rope. You can expect cover for:

  • Medical : Food poisoning, drink spiking, Zika Virus, and moped accidents are all scary possibilities. Medical evacuation in Fiji can be extremely costly and private hospitals often require a guarantee of payment before admission. Luckily, your policy will cover the exorbitant expense of overseas medical cover. (Make sure you disclose any pre-existing medical conditions to your insurer before travelling).
  • Cancellation fees and lost deposits : With its year-round warm tropical climate Fiji is prone to a range of natural disasters including droughts, cyclones, floods, tsunamis and earthquakes. Travel insurance will cover unforeseen cancellations for events such as natural disasters, as well as accidents, hijackings, severe sickness or injury. Incidents that are beyond your control will usually be covered.
  • Luggage and personal effects : Generally speaking, Fiji is quite a safe place for travellers and having your wits about you is all you really need to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip away. That being said, theft is becoming more common, particularly on the mainland in the capital city Suva and Nadi. Your travel insurance will reimburse you for lost, stolen or damaged luggage. Comprehensive cover also includes cover for theft of cash and travel documents too if this is something you’re worried about.
  • Personal liability:   If you injure someone or are held accountable for damaged property in Fiji the consequences could be disastrous, particularly when you are unfamiliar with local laws and regulations. In such an event, your policy will cover your liability costs to a degree.
  • Additional extras:  Each policy varies but look out for top notch extras such as cover for rental vehicle excess, permanent disability, loss of income, cover for kennels and catteries (if you’re delayed home to your fluffy friends) and more.

What will my policy not cover?

  • Riding risky:  Whilst driving is on the same size of the road at NZ,  the road conditions in Fiji are a lot different to ours. There are many pot holes, badly lit roads and livestock crossing or grazing next to the highway. If you decide to hire a car, you wouldn't be covered if you do not have a valid driving licence accepted in Fiji. Top tip! If driving - take it easy and try and do so in day light hours. If you’re going to be riding a scooter or motorbike, keep in mind that your insurer will not cover you if you are found riding without a current New Zealand license (valid in the country you are in). You must be wearing a helmet too!
  • Unattended items : Keep a strong hold over all your belongings as leaving your stuff unsupervised will not be covered for. That also means not leaving your stuff with your fellow holidaymakers.
  • Being intoxicated : Whether your drink of choice is a Fiji Gold or Fiji Rum, all claims related directly to alcohol will not be paid. So have fun in moderation! Also, the possession of even small quantities of "soft drugs" for recreational purposes can result in lengthy jail sentences.
  • Terrorism and travel warnings : At July 2019, the SafeTravel website warns tourists to 'exercise normal safety and security precautions’ in Fiji. Note that however, there have been reports of assault and theft occurring at night in urban areas. The Government advises travellers to avoid poorly lit areas at night, particularly in Suva. It's a good idea to keep up to date with travel advisories on sites like www.safetravel.govt.nz .
  • High risk activities:  Adventure activities are plentiful in Fiji. From scuba diving in Viti Levu, ziplining in the sleeping giants in Nadi, white water rafting in the Upper Navua River or even snorkelling in the crystal-clear island waters... adrenaline junkies are sure spoilt for choice! But watch out, as participating in  particularly risky activities  such as climbing (where ropes are needed), cliff jumping or sky diving may not be covered by your policy.  Be sure to scan your policy’s small print to check out which of your preferred heart pounding activities are covered.
  • Pre-existing conditions :  Medical conditions  that exist before you travel are generally not covered, but it pays to check. You can sometimes pay a bit extra to get some conditions covered. Check your policy wording to see what conditions are covered automatically, and which ones require a medical assessment first.
  • Unreported items:  You need to report theft or loss to the relevant authority ASAP (and your travel insurance provider) within 24 hours.

How to save on travel insurance in Thailand

  • Choose your destination wisely –  You might be able to save yourself a few Fijian Dollars by finding an insurer that classes Fiji in its own price bracket, rather than grouped under Pacific.
  • Consider how often you travel  - If you travel a few times per year, you could save by purchasing an  annual multi-trip policy  rather than purchasing a policy each time you take off.
  • Combine policies  - If travelling with your family or a companion, a  joint policy  is often cheaper than purchasing separately.
  • Increase your excess  - Most insurers allow you to lower your premium by opting to pay higher excess in the instance that you need to make a claim.
  • Shop around  - You'll be amazed at how much travel insurance quotes can vary. Offers by travel agents or airlines usually have commissions added on. In fact, you can save up to 50% by shopping around, so it pays to buy your  travel insurance direct.  Doing your comparison online will allow you to compare loads of quotes in seconds. Yippee

Fiji fast facts

Capital : Suva Currency:  Fijian Dollars Country code:  +679 Languages: Fiji has three languages Fijian, Fiji Hindi and English Culture: Fijian culture has evolved with the introduction of different cultures including indigenous Fijian, Indian, European and Chinese heritage. Fiji’s culture is heavily influence by indigenous traditions and values. Visitors are made to feel welcome into the Fijian way of life through the food, warm encounters, festivals, music and arts. Not to be missed:  If you want to experience the wonders of Fiji the best way is to hop aboard the ferry service and visit the tropical islands. Some of the most popular being the Mamanucas and Yasawa Islands. But if you fancy something of the beaten track there’s another few hundred you could choose from – you’re really spoilt for choice! (333 in total). On the islands there are many activities to participate in like hand line fishing, scuba diving on the amazing coral reefs, or taking a Fijian cooking class to embrace the local delicacies. Nightlife:  Fiji is not renowned for its nightlife, think relaxing beach holiday rather than nights out on the town. That being said if you're looking for the party -  the mainland is the place to go.  If you’re after a big night out head to Nadi, with plenty of bars and night clubs you'll be able to party the night away. Or another option is Suva the Capital. No matter what your taste, there’s something for every type of party animal here, just keep your wits about you. Food & drink : If you like your food fresh and packed with flavour, you’re in luck! Much like its welcoming culture, Fijians cuisine is always warm, inviting and addictive! Their cuisine relies heavily on foods that are available naturally on the island. This results in delicious dishes made from fresh fish and seafood, root vegetables such as taro and cassava, coconuts, citrus fruits and meats including pork, chicken and lamb. Whilst in Fiji trying a Lovo is a must! Arguably one of the best feasts cooked in the earth- think a underground barbeque with smoked meat and vegetables yum!  The national drink of Fiji is Kava, (not Fiji Gold!) made from the pulverised root of a member of the pepper family. The drink is believed to have medicinal qualities and can leave the drinker feeling relaxed. If you want to embrace the Fijian culture this is a good place to start. Tips to safe street food in Fiji;

  • Only eat at the most popular food carts, the turn-over rate is higher and therefore foof won't be left out in the heat all day
  • Only chose meals cooked in front of you and avoid pre-cooked food canteens
  • Stay wary of uncooked dishes such as salads and only drink bottled water
  • Wash unpeeled fruit with bottled water
  • Use good judgement, for instance, steer clear of a stall that looks grimy and unclean.

Beaches:  Sandy shores and turquoise blue waters are not in short supply in Fiji. With over 300 hundred islands to choose from you'll be in your element. After the Hollywood blockbuster Castaway, was shot on Monuriki island, in the Mamanuca Islands tourism to the area shot up. If crowds aren’t your thing you could head to Honeymoon Beach on Turtle Island, Horseshoe Bay, or take the trek to Fiji's western edge and the remote beaches in the Yasawa Islands.. you won't be disappointed.

7 Best Cheap Travel Insurance Companies in April 2024

Sean Cudahy

Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money .

Finding the cheapest travel insurance is often a priority for travelers hoping to protect themselves and their finances while away from home.

But is it better to err on the side of affordable travel insurance or opt for a more comprehensive plan? That depends on your needs .

On average, a comprehensive plan that covers some combination of trip cancellation and interruption costs, medical coverage and baggage protection (and perhaps a number of other things) will cost you 5%-10% of what you paid for the trip, according to NerdWallet partner Squaremouth, a travel insurance marketplace.

That means a comprehensive policy for a trip that costs you $3,000 could run you anywhere between $150 and $300. Factors like the cost and length of your trip, the age of the travelers and how much protection you want can significantly influence what you pay for your plan.

Ultimately, Squaremouth recommends “the least expensive policy that offers the coverage [travelers] need.”

Factors we considered when picking cheap travel insurance plans

We considered a few factors as we looked for the most affordable travel insurance plans.

Price: If your goal is to find cheaper travel insurance, you want the price to be affordable.

Breadth of coverage: The best budget travel insurance is typically going to be a plan that offers a wide range of protections at an affordable cost, ensuring you’re protected with at least some coverage for a wide range of scenarios.

Uniqueness or customizability : While many travel insurance plans have similar protections, some stand out for particular coverage that can be helpful to certain travelers, like those needing to Cancel For Any Reason , those going on a cruise, or travelers with preexisting health conditions. We didn’t spring for the priciest plans with broad, deep coverage; instead, we picked those that meet a sort of budget "sweet spot" when it comes to cost efficiency.

An overview of the best cheap travel insurance plans

We looked at travel insurance quotes for a hypothetical 10-day trip to Italy in October 2023. The traveler is a 40-year-old man living in North Carolina who spent $2,000 on the trip, including airfare.

Reliable but cheap travel insurance providers

1. axa assistance usa (silver plan: $70).

cheap travel insurance to fiji

Why we picked it:

The $500 missed connection benefit is great for cruise and tour participants. It covers additional transportation, accommodations and meal costs when you miss a cruise or tour departure.

Full trip cancellation and interruption coverage, along with up to $25,000 for out-of-pocket medical costs and baggage coverage.

Among the lowest prices we found.

If you’re willing to spend a bit more than AXA's $70 Silver plan, a Gold plan only costs $19 more and gets you deeper coverage amounts and up to $35,000 in collision rental car insurance.

2. Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (ExactCare Value plan: $56)

cheap travel insurance to fiji

Cheapest plan we found while still offering a wide array of protections.

Includes a preexisting medical condition waiver.

Add-on rental car collision coverage optional for $10 per day. You can pick how many days you want the additional coverage — it’s not all or nothing.

At $56, this plan comes in at less than 3% of the $2,000 trip cost.

3. IMG (iTravelInsured Lite plan: $77)

cheap travel insurance to fiji

Treats COVID-19 like any other illness, which is to say, if your claim accepts flu, strep throat or appendicitis as an acceptable, covered condition, the coronavirus is, too.

Covers costs related to trip interruption up to 125%

Higher than normal limits on dental expenses, at $1,000. If your teeth are your Achilles heel (or your biggest fear), this plan might be for you.

The iTravelInsured Lite plan doesn’t offer some of the bells and whistles that other plans do, like rental car coverage , Cancel For Any Reason coverage or waivers for pre-existing conditions. But you’ll have relatively solid across-the-board trip protections.

4. John Hancock (Silver plan: $93 for a mid-tier plan)

cheap travel insurance to fiji

Mid-level plan (as opposed to a basic plan) at an affordable price for travelers who want more coverage without paying too much.

Includes an optional Cancel For Any Reason add-on for travelers wanting flexibility. It is a bit pricey, at half the cost of the insurance ($46.50 extra for a $93 plan).

Reimburses up to $1,000 for lost baggage , far more than many basic plans.

Add-on rental car coverage for $9 per day.

At $88, John Hancock’s basic (Bronze) plan isn’t particularly affordable. But for just $4 extra, you can tap into the benefits of a mid-tier plan at still less than 5% of the total trip cost.

5. Nationwide (Essential plan: $76)

cheap travel insurance to fiji

Includes a preexisting conditions waiver.

Add-on rental car coverage for $90.

Covers trip interruption at 125% of the trip cost while providing comprehensive emergency medical and baggage coverage.

6. Seven Corners (Basic plan: $75)

cheap travel insurance to fiji

On top of standard trip protections, it includes a relatively affordable Cancel For Any Reason option for $31.50 extra.

If you plan to rent expensive sporting equipment, you might consider paying $10 extra to cover lost, damaged, stolen or destroyed gear.

COVID-19 coverage reimburses you for costs incurred if you have to quarantine .

Rental car coverage comes in at an affordable $7 per day.

Seven Corners’ Basic plan stands out because it offers a little bit of everything, appealing to athletic travelers, those who need affordable trip protections, those who want the flexibility to cancel for any reason and those still concerned about getting quarantined due to COVID-19.

7. Travelex Insurance Services (Basic plan: $71)

cheap travel insurance to fiji

Straightforward: What you see is what you get. This plan’s coverage has fewer rules and caveats than many.

While not sporting the highest coverage amounts, it offers a solid range of protections to ensure you get at least something back when your travel is disrupted or you have a medical emergency.

Offers add-on rental car coverage for $10 per day.

At $71, the Travelex Basic plan’s cost is just over 3% of the $2,000 trip’s cost.

If you want to get travel insurance at the cheapest possible rate, here’s a trick. Put $0 as your trip cost, Stan Stanberg, co-founder of comparison site Travelinsurance.com said in an email.

“When excluding trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage the cost of a travel insurance plan goes down significantly,” Stanberg said.

That means you won’t get reimbursed if you need to cancel your trip or if it gets interrupted. But you may still have access to the plan’s medical, trip delay , missed connection, baggage and other protections.

You’ll often find comprehensive travel insurance plans cost 5%-10% of your total trip cost, according to Squaremouth. This will often get you full trip cancellation and trip protection, baggage protection, emergency medical coverage and often other benefits.

Typically, the more you pay, the broader and deeper the coverage.

For many plans, you can purchase travel insurance up until you depart. However, to get access to the most protections possible, booking two days to two weeks after making your initial deposit is the best rule of thumb.

That means you won’t get reimbursed if you need to cancel your trip or if it gets interrupted. But you may still have access to the plan’s medical,

, missed connection, baggage and other protections.

 VISAS

New Zealand passport holders do not require a visa to visit Fiji, and you are granted a visitor's permit on arrival, which lasts for up to four months. You can apply when you're in Fiji to extend it to six months, or if you're planning to stay longer, you can apply for long-term visa in New Zealand.

 BEST TIME TO VISIT

July through August and December through January tend to be the busiest periods, as many New Zealand and Australian travellers visit during the school and university holidays, and over the Christmas and New Year breaks. February and March, June, October and November often offer travellers the best bang for their buck.

Summer (November to March) tends to be dominated by warm, wet weather - expect it to rain a lot! The drier season (May to September) is still warm enough for water activities, but the best time may be October and early November, with the weather starting to warm up but the rain and the tourists holding off.

 NEED TO KNOW TIPS

Bula means hello, vinaka means thank you, and you will hear those two all day long. Fiji is one of the friendliest places for tourists.

Machetes are common place, but don't be too worried. They are used frequently by workers, and are unlikely to indicate something sinister.

Sunday is church day. Fiji is highly Christianised, and most people go to church in their best outfits. Most shops are closed or have limited hours. Hinduism is also very popular, and visiting during Diwali or Holi mean you will be treated to fireworks.

 GETTING AROUND

Fiji is spread out over a huge area - more than 1.2 million square kilometres. While many islands look close enough together, travel between them often includes heading back to the largest island, Viti Levu, which acts as something of a central hub for trade and tourism. Pacific Sun, the domestic arm of Fiji Airways, dominates most of the local market. Mostly served by tiny twin engine planes, it is the quickest way to get around, and availability is rarely an issue. The baggage allowance is very small though! Northern Air, Turtle Airways and Fiji Seaplanes also operate a number of flights around Viti Levu and wider Fiji.

Modern passenger catamarans or older ferries, which transport both people and vehicles are very popular options for seeing the larger and more populated islands.

With no rail, hiring a car, or catching the bus or taxis are popular ways to get around the largest islands. If you're planning to get out of the city and see the sights, hiring a taxi between a few people can be an affordable way to do it.

It is time to move forward together. Stronger for the bitter experiences we have shared, wiser for the suffering inflicted on us and more compassionate for having the capacity to forgive. For all its faults and cruelties, Fiji remains a country full of promise and hope simply demonstrated by the goodwill that has endured and the love we have for this land that is our home.

 WHAT TO EAT

Seeing Fiji? It's all about the seafood. Try Kokoda, a fish marinated in lemon and other citris juices, and then mixed with chili, coconut, tomatoes and onions.  Or get stuck into some baigan valo, a steamed eggplant stuffed with fresh fish and topped with coconut cream. Otherwise, the classic fish soup, served in a coconut milk broth, is a hearty and simply dish that is easy to find.

Around 40% of Fiji's population can trace their heritage to India, having arrived on mass in the 1800s. As such, Indian-style food is popular here, but a little lighter and more coastal in flavour.

Have a sweet tooth? Ditch the breakfast banana bread, and try a slice of coconut bread for breakfast. Alternatively, Purini is a kind of steamed pudding, often topped with custard or butter.

 WHERE TO GO

With so many islands, you might find it best to visit just a few than trying to attend to them all.

While on the main island, stop in at Nadi and sample some of the our highlights, including the traditional crafts market, the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple, and the local curry house, aptly named Curry House. Located just outside the city is the perfectly landspaced Garden of the Sleeping Giant, and are an incredible showcase of Fiji's natural heritage. Between Nadi and Lautoka, the Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Baths are a must-do immersion in Fijian culture. Want to check out an extinct volcano? Mount Tamanivi is Fiji's highest peak, and a popular attraction while in Viti Levu. Neighbouring Vanua Levu's east coast is Taveuni Island, aka Fiji's Garden of Eden. With most of the island protected with National Heritage Park listing, it is thick with rare plant and animal species and stunning waterfalls, including the 60-foot Tavoro Waterall.

FIJI TRAVEL INSURANCE  FAQs

At TINZ, provided you were acting with reasonable caution we would cover you for any unfortunate accidents or illnesses that force you to seek emergency health care. Read on to find out more.

Q. Am I covered to ride a motorbike or scooter?

Yes, so long as you wear a helmet (regardless of whether you are the driver or riding pillion) and hold a valid license that is recognised in Thailand. If you were to sustain an injury while riding a motorbike or scooter you’d be covered provided you abide by the above.

Q. Am I covered in the event of a terror attack?

Unlike most insurers we don’t exclude terrorism . If you’re caught up in an act of terror, we’ll pay for your flight home, cover your medical costs and in some cases, reimburse you for trip cancellation . See Policy Document for further details.

Q. Am I covered for activities and water sports?

At TINZ we cater to those with a taste for adventure. Many of the activities in Fiji revolve around water sports (it is an island after all!). We cover a wide range of adventure sports such as diving (max depth 30 metres), snorkelling, parasailing and jet skiing and more. Click to see what activities we cover.

Q. Am I covered in the event of a volcanic eruption or other natural disaster?

In the event that you are affected by an unforeseen natural disaster (and have bought a comprehensive policy), you would be covered for travel disruptions, additional accommodation expenses and lost deposits. However, in order to be covered you would need to have purchased a policy before news of the natural disaster hit the mainstream media.

Q. Am I covered for food poisoning, Malaria or Dengue fever?

As Fiji is a developing country there are medical risks you may be at risk of contracting.. However, you can be rest assured that all our policies cover you for unlimited medical benefits if you were to fall ill. This includes access to hospitals, ambulance, doctors and evacuation and repatriation home if required.

Q. How do alcohol and drugs affect my cover?

When it comes to alcohol we understand that for some, there’s no better way to kick off a holiday than with a poolside cocktail (or two). However, please note we may exclude any claims where excessive drugs or alcohol have been involved.

Q. Am I covered for pickpocketing?

Yes- you’re covered for muggings provided of course, you were acting with reasonable care (i.e. did not leave your belongings unattended). If you’re the victim of a pickpocket (even of the cheeky monkey variety), you’d be covered for loss, theft and damage to your luggage and personal effects. If you are robbed it’s important that you get a police report and contact us as soon as possible.

Q. Is my IPad, SLR camera or laptop covered?

Technically speaking, yes. Bear in mind the most we will pay for individual single items is $1,000, and $3,000 for personal computers, video recorders or cameras. If you are taking particularly expensive items on your holiday – make sure they are covered! Even if you’ve purchased our Comprehensive Plus plan (with a benefit amount of $25,000 for luggage and belongings), single limits apply, so you would not be covered for a single item worth $25,000.

Q. What is a dependant?

A dependant refers to your child or grandchild not in full-time employment under the age of 19 and travelling with you on your journey.

Q. What do you mean by ‘family’?

At TINZ we define ‘family’ as your spouse or partner and your dependent children or grandchildren. Your family members would need to be travelling with you at all times and must be named on your Certificate of Insurance.

Travel insurance for Fiji

Coral beaches, lazy palms and vivid reefs under turquoise water; there are few places in the world that does tropical perfection like Fiji. The country offers adrenaline-pumping activities and serene relaxation in equal measure, making it a favourite for families, honeymooners and everyone in between.

However, travellers should remember that travelling to Fiji presents a number of dangers. Cyclones, reef scratches, and even food poisoning after a bad buffet meal can all threaten to turn your tropical getaway into a holiday to forget.

Great travel insurance is essential to protect yourself on holiday, and understanding what you’re covered for is the best way to avoid unexpected costs.

cultural show in Fiji

Does my policy cover tropical cyclones?

Fiji is vulnerable to tropical cyclones, which usually occur around once per year between November and May. Unfortunately, these storms are often severe, causing significant damage and loss of life. Tropical cyclones also play havoc with airline schedules, and even relatively minor storms can leave travellers stranded due to flight cancellations.

If you’re visiting Fiji during the summer months when cyclones are most likely to occur, it’s important that you carefully monitor weather forecasts when planning your trip.

If your prepaid travel arrangements (such as flights, accommodation and excursions) need to be changed or cancelled because of an unexpected natural disaster in Fiji, and your insurance started before the event occurred, there is cover under the International Comprehensive policy if you need to cancel or change the dates of your prepaid travel plans.

If you are stuck overseas for more than 12 hours because your flight has been delayed or cancelled due to the unexpected event, we can cover the cost of any additional equivalent expense type, included scheduled transport and accommodation and living expenses incurred while you are waiting to return home.

If your insurance started after the natural disaster has occurred, you won’t be covered for any alteration costs incurred as a result of the natural disaster, such as cancelling or changing your original flight. However, you will still be covered for other unexpected events in accordance with your policy, such as having your personal belongings stolen or injuring yourself overseas.

sports and activities in Fiji

Am I covered for medical emergencies and hospital bills?

Whether you plan on exploring world-class dive sites, hidden trails, or just the activities on offer within the resort, your Fijian holiday will be packed with adventure. Popular tourist areas like the Mamanuca Islands, the Yasawa Islands, the Coral Coast and Denarau each offer a number of water sports, like water skiing, surfing, diving, snorkelling, paddle boarding, jet skiing and parasailing.

If you’re getting out of your comfort zone, keep in mind that medical facilities in Fiji are not up to the same standard as in Australia. Travellers should take particular care when visiting the more remote islands in Fiji, where emergency facilities are limited to the basic healthcare offered by resorts.

In serious cases, emergency repatriation to Australia may be required, which is extremely expensive for uninsured travellers. Some of our  highest claims  have resulted from emergency repatriation by air ambulance.

Does my insurance cover extreme sports in Fiji?

We understand that extreme activities are all part of an unforgettable holiday in Fiji, which is why our International Comprehensive policy insures you for unlimited medical expenses and evacuation if required.

However, our policy doesn’t cover you for certain activities, like kitesurfing. For other activities like parasailing, you are only covered if you participate with a licensed operator. If you’re scuba diving in Fiji, it’s essential that you hold an open water diving certificate or are diving with a qualified instructor.

Are my phone, laptop and camera covered if they’re lost, stolen or damaged?

Fiji is regarded as a safe and welcoming holiday destination where pickpocketing and petty theft aren’t great concerns. However, there have been incidents of  scammers and thieves targeting tourists  in the cities of Nadi and Suva.

We understand how frustrating an incident like theft can be on your otherwise perfect tropical holiday, which is why our International Comprehensive policy covers you for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items resulting from an unexpected event.

How to avoid getting sick in Fiji

Unfortunately, Fiji has a growing reputation as a high-risk destination for food poisoning as a result of a few  unlucky travellers becoming seriously ill . While most of the resorts offer high quality, fresh and safe food to guests, it only takes one raw prawn to send you running for the bathroom.

If you’re eating from the resort buffet, you should use your best judgement to avoid contaminated food. To avoid food poisoning from the buffet, remember to:

  • Eat fresh and well-cooked food
  • Avoid hot meals that have gone cold, and cold meals that have gone warm
  • Ensure you use clean and dry serving utensils
  • Avoid buffets without sneeze guards protecting the food from other guests

Fiji travel insurance exclusions

While comprehensive travel insurance is essential to keeping you and your family safe in Fiji, it is unlikely that you’ll find a policy that covers you for everything. So what won’t your Fiji travel insurance cover you for?

Pre-existing medical conditions (PECs)

Pre-existing medical conditions (PECs) aren’t automatically covered under travel insurance, however, they can be added as extras when buying your policy.

At SCTI, we have a list of PECs that you must declare when organising your travel insurance, and a few definitions that you should be aware of if you’re travelling with health conditions. Find out what you need to do to seek cover for your PECs.

If you’d like some advice on how your pre-existing medical conditions might affect your Fiji travel insurance, please don’t hesitate to email us at any time or connect with one of our insurance experts on 1800 196 484 .

Other Fiji travel insurance exclusions

Pre-existing medical conditions aren’t the only thing that may not be covered under your Fiji travel insurance. You won’t be covered if:

  • You’re participating in adventure activities with an unlicensed tour operator, such as diving, parasailing and white-water rafting.
  • You’re riding a moped or motorbike and you haven’t added this as an extra on your travel insurance policy.
  • You’re sailing more than 22.2 kilometres (12 nautical miles) from populated land.
  • A natural event occurred before the start date of your insurance and causes disruptions to your travel plans.

FIJI TRAVEL INSURANCE  FAQ'S

Am i covered in the event of a natural disaster.

Yes, in the event that your holiday is directly affected by an unforeseen natural disaster you would be covered for cancellation, travel disruptions, additional accommodation expenses and lost deposits, depending on the plan that you purchased. However, in order to be covered you would need to have purchased a policy before news of the natural disaster hits the mainstream media.

Am I covered if I hitchhike in Fiji?

Hitching a ride isn't entirely safe in any country and we don’t recommend it.  However, with Zoom, you are covered for hitchiking provided it is legal for the country through which you are travelling. Standing at the side of the road with your thumb-out would be unexpected behaviour in Fiji.  However hitching a ride on a carrier truck on the main islands is common, particuarly with the locals.  You will often find a carrier driver with a few spare seats drive along the bus route asking if anyone needs a lift.  If you jump onboard, note that he's expecting you to pay the bus fare. The main benefit being that once the van is full, he doesn't make any more stops, so the ride is quicker than the bus. Remember to keep a good handle on your belongings though. Leaving your stuff behind on transport is considered unattended and wouldn't be covered.

Am I covered for dengue fever?

As Fiji is a tropical country, it is a high risk area for mosquito borne illnesses such as Dengue. If you fall ill while on vacation your Zoom travel insurance policy will make sure that you are able to get the medical care you need. You will be covered for Unlimited medical expenses whilst overseas.  This includes access to hospitals, ambulance, doctors and evacuation and even repatriation home if required.

How do alcohol and drugs affect my cover?

When it comes to alcohol we advise you to drink in moderation. Please note that we may exclude any claims where excessive drugs or alcohol have been involved.

Am I covered for adventure activities?

We automatically cover a wide range of adventure sports including diving, bunjee jumping and horse riding and more. You can also buy our Adventure Pack to cover additional adventure sports.

I have high value items; how much can I insure them for?

If you have an expensive item that you just can’t leave behind you can insure it separately for up to $5,000. Please note that high value item cover is only available under our comprehensive plan .

Am I covered for muggings or pick pocketing?

Yes, you’re covered for muggings provided of course, you were acting with reasonable care (i.e. did not leave your belongings unattended). If you’re the victim of a pickpocket or bag snatching, you’d be covered for loss, theft and damage. Muggings are more common at night, particularly in Suva so keep your wits about you.  If you are robbed it’s important that you get a police report and contact us as soon as possible.

What is a dependant?

Travel Insurance For Vietnam: Everything You Need To Know

Table of Contents

Do australians need travel insurance for vietnam, what does travel insurance for vietnam cover, frequently asked questions (faqs).

Vietnam is an increasingly popular travel destination for Australians, with the country even hoping to encourage more Aussies to visit by potentially waiving visa requirements in due time.

The Southeast Asian country is set to be high on the list for Aussies going overseas in 2024. The number of Australian tourists in Vietnam now exceeds pre-pandemic levels: more than 317,000 Australians visited Vietnam in 2019 , while there were 390,000 Aussie visitors in 2023.

Plus, as more and more flights become available, such as low-cost carrier Vietjet Air launching a direct service between Hanoi and Melbourne earlier this year, getting to Vietnam is becoming easier for Australians.

If the direct flights, fascinating history, vast scenery and delicious food aren’t enough to convince Australian travellers, the cost may be. Vietnam is considered one of the cheapest travel destinations in the world for Australian tourists due to our strong conversion rate against the Vietnamese Dong and the nation’s low cost of living in comparison to our own.

And while cheap thrills may be what you’re after on your vacation, it’s important not to skimp on the necessities that may cost that little bit extra—such as travel insurance. This guide outlines what you need to know regarding travel insurance in Vietnam.

Investing in travel insurance is a good idea for any overseas trip. Travel insurance policies can help protect you from having to dive deep into your pockets, with many offering unlimited medical treatment while abroad and cancellation cover for your trip should the unexpected occur.

Travel insurance is not just handy for medical purposes or travel changes, either. Your personal items can be covered, should any baggage go missing or an important item be stolen—which, unfortunately, often occurs in Vietnam.

Smarttraveller warns Australians to be alert at all times in Vietnam, considering petty theft–including bag slashing–is common in tourist areas and crowded places, especially during holiday times. Snatch-and-grab theft by thieves on motorcycles is also common, the website states.

Like most international travel insurance policies, you will be able to find basic coverage for your trip to Vietnam, or choose to opt for a more comprehensive, albeit more expensive, policy.

While a basic policy will often cover medical expenses and lost luggage,a comprehensive policy includes a lot more. Most basic policies also likely won’t offer compensation for travel delays, stolen cash, accidental death and more.

Additionally, if you are going on a trip to multiple countries within the year, it may be worth opting for an ‘annual multi trip’ insurance instead—making sure that there are no exclusions to the regions you are wishing to visit.

Visa Requirements For Australians Travelling to Vietnam

You’ll still be allowed to travel to Vietnam if you don’t invest in travel insurance, but you do so at your own risk—and, as stated, it is highly advised to have a travel insurance policy for any overseas trip.

However, what you cannot do is enter Vietnam as an Australian tourist without a tourist visa. While Vietnam will grant Australian citizens visas on arrival, applying for one online is much easier.

A tourist visa costs under $100 AUD; however the exact price depends on your length of stay.

The Vietnamese government may consider waiving visas for Australian citizens, especially since many other SEA countries have done so such as Indonesia and Thailand .

However, at the time of writing, Forbes Advisor Australia has confirmed that Australian citizens must still obtain a visa to visit Vietnam for tourism purposes.

The exact inclusions of your travel insurance will be dependent on your personal policy and the provider.

However, generally speaking, you can expect a travel insurance policy for Vietnam to offer some level of cover for:

  • Medical expenses;
  • Lost, damaged or stolen luggage;
  • Travel cancellations or delays ;
  • Personal liability;
  • Credit card fraud;
  • Covid-19 expenses;

If you are partaking in certain sports and activities, you will need to make sure that you choose a policy that covers them. You’ll also need to make sure that your policy covers any pre-existing medical conditions as well.

Plus, if you are travelling with valuables, you may wish to opt for a policy that lets you increase the protection cover on your items.

Ultimately, you need to consider what your trip consists of, what you will be taking with you, and your physical health to establish what policies would be appropriate for you.

From there, you can compare quotes of different policies and providers to ensure you have the optimal—yet affordable—cover for your trip to Vietnam.

Does Travel Insurance Cover The Ha-Giang Loop?

Considered one of the most scenic motorcycle routes in the world, the Ha-Giang Loop is a popular tourist activity in Vietnam for adventurous travellers. If the Ha-Giang Loop is one of your goals, you’ll need to make sure you have travel insurance that covers motorcycling.

Occasionally a policy may include this as one of their included ‘sports and activities’, but it is more often the case that you will need to purchase an additional ‘adventure pack’ that is either specific to, or includes, motorsports.

Even so, when purchasing an additional pack to cover motorbikes, you need to be cautious of the conditions. For example, some policies will only cover motorcycle riding if the bike you are riding has an engine under a certain size.

Often, coverage will cease and claims won’t be accepted if you haven’t been wearing the correct safety equipment such as boots and a helmet, or have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

What Does Travel Insurance Exclude?

Your travel insurance policy may exclude some activities that you wish to partake in, unless you can opt-in to purchase an additional adventure pack as explained above in regards to motorbike riding.

Just like with the inclusions of a policy, the exclusions depend on what type of policy you choose, and what provider you go with.

Commonly, however, you won’t be covered for instances where you:

  • Break the law;
  • Are under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
  • Partake in an excluded activity;
  • Receive medical treatment for a pre-existing condition that was not disclosed;
  • Travel to a ‘Do Not Travel’ destination as outlined by Smarttraveller.

As always, it is essential to read the product disclosure statement (PDS) of your travel insurance policy carefully to understand what you will and won’t be covered for while overseas.

Do I need a visa to travel to Vietnam?

Yes, as of April 2024, Australian tourists still need a visa to travel to Vietnam. This visa can be obtained on arrival, or purchased online prior to travel. The visa takes approximately three days to process online, and the cost depends on how long you intend to stay in the country.

Does international travel insurance cover Covid-19?

Many comprehensive travel insurance policies now cover Covid-19, including medical conditions related to Covid-19 or trip cancellations due to a Covid-19 diagnosis. However, it is not guaranteed that all policies will. It’s important to check your policy’s PDS carefully to understand what it will and will not cover in regards to Covid-19 for both you and your travelling companions.

How much does travel insurance cost for Vietnam?

The cost of your travel insurance for a trip to Vietnam will depend on your age, your health, the activities you wish to partake in, and the length of your stay.

For example, for a 34 year old with no pre-existing medical conditions travelling to Vietnam for two weeks, a policy from some of our top choices for comprehensive travel insurance would cost around $130 (based on quotes from Cover-More , 1Cover , and Fast Cover ).

The prices of these quotes would change depending on a chosen excess, cancellation cover, and any additional coverage options you may choose to purchase such as adventure packs or cruise cover.
