The scenery is similar to downstream in the Grand Canyon, yet these trips cost a fraction and can be done in half a day. Overnight trips along the Glen Canyon section allow for camping along the river , an extraordinary experience. Colorado River - Smooth RIver boat tour
Fantastic 15 Mile boat trip on the Colorado River - with Paul. Tour guide Paul was so kind and knowledgeable - it was very scenic and peaceful - the wind can pop up at some turns and you get a couple of drops on you... but dress in layers as it will be both hot and cold. Boats are stable and comfortable - 2 brief stops on small beaches - you can use the toilet facilities and wade in the water - which is a bracing 47 degrees - the patina on the walls of glen canyon is amazing - saw mountain sheep - wild horses and condors... really worth the trip out there
We did the morning trip on May 20. It was one of the best tours I have ever been on. Our guide, Rob, was THE BEST!! He was personable and knew all about the rocks, plant life, animal life, dam, Page, and just about anything else you could ask him. The view were breathtaking. This is a must do while you are in Page!
We did the 1/2 day still-water rafting trip on the Colorado. We started at the Glen Canyon dam and went 15 miles down the Colorado. The views were breathtaking. Our guide, Lauren, was friendly, fun and really knew her stuff. We learned so much but the trip was relaxing as well. It was very professional and organized - even the bus ride to the beginning of the trip was educational. Overall, I highly recommend including this excursion to your vacation. The only thing I would mention is the cafe really doesn't have much food, so eat breakfast before and bring snacks for the morning.
The Soft water float trip was amazing!!!! The scenery was absolutley breath taking!!! The water was absolutley freezing to stay in for to long given that we went in May. Are Guide Levi Fry did a awesome job. We know he was a new guide but he did a great great job very knowledgable and friendly. He is an asset to your company. We are from the Sedona AZ area and we just want to say if you have a chance to go GO and have an enjoyable time.
Driving the bus down through the rock tunnel to the bottom of the dam was a thrill and that was just the beginning! Our tour was 4-5 boats, but we had the advantage of being on the first boat, and our guide Brad pulled us out front and for most of the afternoon it was as if we had the river to ourselves. Brad was so enthusiastic about the river, and shared so many stories. I really enjoyed his reading from John Wesley Powell. It was hot but there was plenty of cold water and lemonade, and bandanas to soak in cold water to cool off with. A hat is essential as is sunscreen. I appreciated that the boat wasn't crowded, and you could move around and sit where you wanted. Midway through there is a break to walk to petroglyphs and the porta-potties!! After looking at the river from the Grand Canyon for so many days, it was special to be able to be on the river. Towards the end of the trip, Brad found a shady spot to set the boat in, and he pulled out his guitar and played and sang a few songs. It was mother's day and he dedicated one of the songs to his mother. It was a sweet and magical moment. I think Colorado River Discovery delivered on their promises and then some. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
The sun was hot for our 1pm half-day float trip, but the trip was wonderful. Everyone at CRD was great. I bought a bistro bag lunch which I thought great value at $9.95. Scenery can't be beat. Our guide Ashlee had a bucket of cold water if anyone wanted to dip a shirt, bandana etc in to cool off. There was a drag bag of lemonade that was distributed after a stop to look at petroglyphs. An added bonus was the view of Glen Canyon Dam from river level. All in all a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

The total run from the dam is 16 miles in length (overnight) and 10 miles from Petroglyph Beach down ( Our suggestion for a day trip). We will pickup your kayak at the ramp when you return to Lee's Ferry:). After you book we will supply all the directions for a fabulous day on the water.
HAPPY TIMES ON THE RIVER
" Brady and Bobby were AWESOME! I thoroughly enjoyed my canoeing adventure! They were super flexible and understanding with our times and really communicative. They even called me prior to my trip to give me some additional information I needed. Super friendly and knowledgeable about not just the river, but also the history of the area. My friend and I really enjoyed getting to know the history behind everything. I couldn't recommend this company more! Truly an awesome family run company and I will definitely be back when I'm in town!"

Colorado River Discovery
Rafting down the Colorado river is the Grand Canyon fantasy of many visitors. Colorado River Discovery is all about making your watery dreams come true. They offer full and half day floats and rows down a smooth section of river between Glenn Canyon Dam and Lees Ferry, the gateway to the Grand Canyon. Be forewarned, there is no white water to be had. The tour is suitable for all ages as this company is all about preservation and education rather than extreme adventure. Your trip will be informational and beautiful and white water free.
It’s hard to find a bad review of this company. Phrases like “well oiled machine” and “excellent experience” pop up over and over. As with any large organization, there will be the occasional mishap and weather issue to contend with, but overall, this tour seems to be among the best.

Glen Canyon Dam Tours
Glen Canyon Damn located just outside of Page is one of the largest and most important dams in the United States. The 710-foot (220 m) high dam was built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) from 1956 to 1966 and forms Lake Powell, one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the U.S. with a capacity of 27 million acre-feet (33 km3). The dam is named for Glen Canyon, a series of deep sandstone gorges now flooded by the reservoir. The dam helps ensure an equitable distribution of water between the states of the Upper Colorado River Basin (Colorado, Wyoming, and most of New Mexico and Utah) and the Lower Basin (California, Nevada, and most of Arizona).
During years of drought, Glen Canyon guarantees water delivery to the Lower Basin states, without the need for rationing in the Upper Basin. Glen Canyon Dam has been a focus of environmental controversy for nearly 100 years. Between the environmental impacts of flooding Glen Canyon (now Lake Powell), the environmental changes to the Grand Canyon, and the increased demand for this water in growing cities and states, Glen Canyon Dam and its overall benefit continues to be under scrutiny. This dam has a long and complicated history with unforeseen effects and demands. Going on a Glen Canyon Dam tour will be an informative and enlightening experience that is sure to resonate with those who care about climate change, growing resource demands, and environmental chains of events.

Kayaking on Lake Powell

The lake receives water from the Colorado River and several other smaller tributaries, and people use it for irrigation, drinking water, and hydroelectric power.

Lake Powell Water Level Report
The water level of Lake Powell is presently at a historic low. However, in 2023, we expect a considerable summer runoff from the Rockies, but in the meantime, let us enjoy the currently exposed, long-forgotten, and previously hidden body of water that is temporarily available for us to enjoy. This unprecedented low water level has resulted in longer slot canyons for hiking and taller canyon walls, making Lake Powell an even more remarkable experience for paddle-boarders and kayakers. Despite the altered launch areas, Lake Powell remains incredibly accessible for kayaks, paddle boards, and boats. Additionally, due to the closure of boat ramps, there is less motorboat traffic on the lake, making it an even better paddle experience. We offer hassle-free rentals, including setup, delivery, and pickup for you and your friends. So why wait? Make your way to Lake Powell today!
