Coronation Street fans will get the chance to explore even more of the famous soap cobbles with the opening of a brand new visitor experience in June.

The "Coronation Street Experience" will launch from June 10 and includes a host of new attractions and options for visitors to the set of the world's longest running soap in Manchester. It will expand on the previous Corrie tours , which were only available on weekends.

Bosses say the recently-opened visitor centre at the ITV studios site is now fully developed into a "one stop shop for every Corrie fan " giving access to replica sets, historic props, iconic costumes and a dedicated Corrie shop filled with souvenirs.

The launch of the new experience means visitors can now plan visits on weekdays as well as weekends. The replica sets give visitors the chance to pose up in Weatherfield's famous Roy's Rolls cafe for the first time, as well as pull a pint in the Rovers Return.

Neil Currie, Guest Experience Manager, said: "We know that fans of Coronation Street want to get up close to some of the props and sets that they see on screen, be it Deirdre’s infamous glasses, or inside The Rovers Return .

"The new exhibition gives us the chance to not only extend the weekend tour experience as it will be included for every visitor. It will also be open 7 days a week, giving everybody the opportunity to take a seat in ‘Roy’s Rolls’ or stand behind the bar at ‘The Rovers’ and see iconic costumes and props from over 60 years of drama.

"Having this kind of exhibition floor also gives us the chance to constantly update and change things alongside the programme’s on air stories. Once a storyline has played out on your TV screen, we’ll be updating the props and costumes along the way."

The award-winning 90-minute tour has been hugely popular since it launched in 2014, attracting fans not just from the UK but from all over the world. The new exhibition floor will complement the tour, alongside a cinema, café and retail space, creating what bosses say will be the "ultimate Coronation Street Experience".

"We’re thrilled to be able to offer fans of Coronation Street an even more immersive experience with the launch of the Coronation Street Experience and can’t wait for our first guests to arrive," said Neil.

In addition to the replica sets and original props, the tour itself has also evolved to include access to new sets such as Weatherfield Precinct, letting visitors discover even more secrets from their expert tour guides.

Coronation Street The Tour - All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go (2024)

Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien's Manchester family home is so relatable – tour inside

The actress lives with her husband adam crofts and two children.

Tina O'Brien's home

Tina O'Brien has a bustling family life at home with her husband Adam Crofts, whom she married on New Year's Eve in 2018, and children Scarlett and Beau.

The Coronation Street actress lives in Manchester in a beautiful property with modern interiors and a sprawling garden. And while you might anticipate all celebrities' homes to be spotless, Tina is not afraid to show off the realities of life at home with her kids – from Christmas chaos to messy toys and her pet pooches. See all the candid photos of the actress' beautiful home…

Tina O'Brien's Christmas tree in her living room

Tina O'Brien's lounge

Christmas is the perfect time of year to dress up your home with trees, garlands and lights, and that's exactly what Tina has done over the past few years. Back in 2017, she shared a sweet photo of her dog sleeping on the floor of her lounge, which boasted cream carpets, a grey rug, white walls and spotlights.

A slate grey armchair topped with assorted cushions, a gilded gold mirror, an oversized floor lamp and lanterns finished off her calming space.

The pristine floors and surfaces had been covered with toys, magazines, chairs and more in the following photo, which was taken just 24 hours later! "I need to tidy up, but instead I'm going to have a glass of wine and turn the lights down low," she relatably quipped, while a children's show was playing on the TV positioned on a black unit.

When the curtains are drawn, floor-to-ceiling windows offer views over the private garden surrounded by tall hedges.

Tina O'Brien's decking in her garden

Tina O'Brien's garden

"When the light fades you’ll find me here with a glass of bubbles #gardenlove," Tina wrote next to a dreamy photo of her garden. With her double doors open, the mother-of-two looked out onto her decking where she had positioned white garden furniture topped with grey cushions surrounding a circular carpet with a white table.

A potted palm tree and fairy lights added mood lighting for summer evenings, while flower beds and a large wooden structure (possibly a tree house) were visible in the background.

Skylights added more natural light to the space and the white walls were decorated with framed pictures.

Upstairs, Tina's neutral colour scheme continued with the cream carpets and grey built-in wardrobes in the bedroom. A large double bed with a grey headboard had been topped with floral bedsheets, while the foliage extended to the grey tree-print wallpaper.

Tina O'Brien's hall

Perhaps the quirkiest place in Tina's home is her hallway, which she revealed in a mirror selfie. Showing off her pretty dungaree dress, the actress stood in front of a silver floor mirror that reflected a duck-print wallpaper on her landing.

Tina O'Brien's dogs sitting on her stairs

An IKEA white unit added storage under the cream-carpeted stairs – clearly a favourite spot for her dogs to sit!

Tina O'Brien's side table topped with flowers and awards

The personalised touches of the home were visible in a snap of her white side table, where she had proudly displayed family photos and an award. A framed picture reading: "All you need is love" hung on the wall above the table.

Indie band behind famous film song reveal split after ‘complete breakdown’

Fat White Family performs

Despite releasing new music and having a UK tour coming up, rock band Fat White Family appear to have gone their separate ways.

First formed in 2011, the indie band gained popularity for the song Whitest Boy on the Beach which featured over the closing credits of T2 Trainspotting.

However, frontman Lias Saoudi has revealed he is no longer working with the rest of the band; including his own brother Nathan.

The original lineup consisted of Lias, Nathan, Saul Adamczewski, Joe Pancucci, Dan Lyons, and Adam Harmer but this has changed drastically over the years.

Only the frontman has been involved in promoting their fourth album, Forgiveness is Yours, and he confessed there has been a ‘complete breakdown’ in the six-piece band.

‘I’m doing it all on my own this time which has been a new thing,’ Lias revealed. ‘It’s been alright, I try to not repeat myself too often.’

Lias Saoudi of Fat White Family performs

He continued to The New Cue on Substack: ‘There’s been a complete breakdown in that kind of original triumvirate of me, Nathan and Saul. That’s just completely broken down now.

‘It broke down a long time ago with Saul, we resuscitated it for a bit, and then it broke down again, and then we resuscitated again, and now it’s absolutely dead in the water. There’s no love lost there anymore.’

Metro.co.uk understands that, despite Lias’ comments, Fat White Family are still together although a current bandmate lineup is unclear.

Similarly, the musician told The Independent : ‘The band has always been a revolving door of members and contributors and a kind of Rubik’s Cube of feuding components.

‘I think we’re at a point where there needs to be some cool-out. Sometimes you just have to have distance for a while before you can make things work.’

It’s unclear when exactly this breakdown happened, with the band still using a group photo on their social media.

Lias believes there is no way to reconcile the differences between the Peckham-based group.

He described conflict with Saul as ‘eating glass’ and being perpetually at loggerheads despite their decade-long working relationship.

While this ego clash ran the group into the ground, they were determined to finish the album – with or without a full team.

Fat White Family performing onstage

‘I just think you have to finish, though,’ he declared to the newsletter. ‘You lose a member, you lose another member, you just have to finish. I think like that with projects generally.

‘You can’t just flounce out on your own elaborate psychodrama that you’ve concocted. This is what you signed up for.

‘But here we are. It doesn’t make it any less egregious.’

Even though the band is no more Fat White Family is set to tour Europe and the UK in May and June.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Fat White Family for comment.

  • DETAILS DETAILS

The artistic director and chief conductor at St. Petersburg's Mariinsky Theatre, Russian conductor Valery Gergiev is arguably the 21st century's foremost interpreter of Russian operatic repertory. He is also noted as a symphonic conductor and has served as chief conductor of Germany's Munich Philharmonic Orchestra since 2015.

Gergiev was born May 2, 1953, in Moscow. He is of Ossetian background, and during Russia's 2008 war with Georgia over the disputed territory of South Ossetia, he spoke out in support of Russian government actions. He led a 2003 production of Wagner's Ring Cycle at the Mariinsky that included many Ossetian cultural elements in its conception. Gergiev showed musical talent from early childhood, and by his teens he had settled on a career as a conductor. He studied with the famed pedagogue Ilya Musin at the St. Petersburg (then Leningrad) Conservatory and won the Soviet Union's All-Union Conductors' Competition in 1975 while still a student. He followed that up with a win at the Herbert von Karajan Conductors' Competition in Berlin the following year. Those victories led to Gergiev's 1977 appointment as assistant conductor at the Kirov Opera under Yuri Temirkanov and impressed observers with performances of such difficult works as Prokofiev's War and Peace. Gergiev's orchestral conducting career began in the 1980s with his leadership of the Armenian State Orchestra. He assumed the chief conductorship of the Kirov Opera upon Temirkanov's retirement in 1988; after the fall of the Soviet Union, the Kirov Opera and Kirov Theatre reverted to their original Mariinsky names. In addition to conducting operatic productions and symphonic concerts, Gergiev has been general director of the entire Mariinsky theater complex, for which he has overseen extensive renovations.

Gergiev's fame rests above all on his leadership role at the Mariinsky. He has taken companies on tour to many countries, including France (at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris) and the U.S. (a production of Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov at the Metropolitan Opera in New York). He formed the in-house Mariinsky label in 2009 for the marketing of the company's recordings. In 2019, the company issued his recording of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 ("Pathétique"), which received a five-star rating from Allmusic.com. He has also recorded for Philips and for the LSO Live label of the London Symphony Orchestra, for which he served as chief conductor beginning in 2005. From 1995 to 2008, Gergiev was chief conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic, and in 2015 he took up the baton for the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, making several symphonic recordings for that orchestra's in-house label as well.

Gergiev, a strong supporter of Russian president Vladimir Putin, has at times faced criticism for political stances. He characterized members of the Russian dissident rock band Pussy Riot as publicity seekers and backed Putin's increasing repression of LGBT rights in Russia. Members of gay activist groups in New York have interrupted his performances there. On assuming his position in Munich, however, Gergiev affirmed his support for the city's anti-discrimination ordinance. ~ James Manheim
