Being a money cautious mother, I understand the importance of wanting (and sometimes needing ) to save money. If that’s what it takes to make Disney World a possibility for you, then I’d like to help by providing you with money saving tips. As someone who is fortunate enough to visit Disney World often, I look forward to giving you insight on ways to save money so you can go too!

What is the Costco Disney Package?

Costco, fully known as Costco Wholesale , is a membership warehouse club. Customers, known as members, pay an annual membership fee in order to shop at Costco locations. At these locations, you’ll find a variety of brand-name items available in both bulk and at a discounted price.

Products that Costco carries generally fit into the Grocery, Home Essential, and Pet categories. Other departments within their stores are Optical, Pharmacy, and Photo. Besides their products, they also offer a variety of services! These services include Insurance, Home Improvement, Home, Auto, and Business services.

You may be wondering what this has to do with saving money on Disney World vacations. Another service that Costco offers is Travel! At Costco Travel, you can find a variety of theme park tickets and vacation packages. Since Costco is known for its great savings, it’s commonly thought that you can get amazing savings on vacations. Does this also apply to Disney World vacations? That’s what we’re going to take a look at!

Disney World Tickets

Before we take a look at Costco’s Disney World ticket prices , I want to go over the different types of tickets that are available. Disney World has four different ticket types: 1 Park Per Day, Water Park and Sports, Park Hopper, and Park Hopper Plus.

With this ticket, you’ll be able to visit one theme park in a single day.
With this ticket, you’ll be able to visit one theme park as well as one additional Disney World location in a single day.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex
Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course

Now, let’s take a look at Costco’s Disney World ticket prices……

Unfortunately, we can’t. While Costco used to sell standalone Disney World tickets, they no longer do. They do offer Disney World tickets as part of a vacation package, but if you were wanting to purchase tickets only, you won’t be able to get them from Costco.

Luckily, I still have money saving advice for you when it comes to Disney World tickets. Since you can’t get discounted Disney World tickets from Costco, you should head over to Get Away Today ! Costco Disney World Vacation Packages

While Costco doesn’t sell Disney World tickets, they do sell vacation packages that include tickets. Currently on their website, they have over 20 different vacation packages for the Orlando area that include a hotel stay as well as Disney World tickets.

However, these packages still aren’t discounted. The tickets aren’t discounted and the hotel stays aren’t discounted either. Some of the hotels in the packages offer incentives such as resort credits, room upgrades, waived resort fees, free breakfast, or Costco Shop Cards (a gift card to use at Costco). Occasionally, Costco will also add its own incentives or deals for members who purchase a Disney World vacation package.

While these incentives are understandably appealing, booking your Disney World vacation package through Costco Travel still has its disadvantages. For starters, the initial deposit that you’re required to pay is much more than you’d even pay by booking directly through Disney World’s website. When you book with Costco Travel, you’re required to pay for the tickets in full as well as $100 per person on the reservation.

Another downside is that your balance needs to be paid farther in advance than it does even for direct Disney bookings. When you book through Disney World, your full balance isn’t due until 30 days in advance. Your Costco Travel Disney World package will need to be fully paid off 45 days in advance.

Costco Travel also adds additional items to your package without first confirming with you, such as Mears Transportation between the airport and your Walt Disney World Resort hotel. While you do have the option to remove this transfer, you may not even notice that it was added to your package before you book it. When I was putting together a vacation package to reference for this article, I only noticed the Mears Transportation addition because I was going out of my way to read the small print and collect as much information as possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if many people don’t notice that this additional service and cost have been added to their vacation package until it’s been booked.

On that note, Costco Travel Disney World packages are not very flexible. Plans change and things come up. It’s nice to know that you can make changes to your vacation without being punished. I was astounded when I saw the cancellation policy for the vacation package that I had put together. As of the booking date, if I needed to cancel, 55% of my vacation package would be non-refundable. The closer you get to the arrival date, the higher the non-refundable percentage goes up. After 55%, it went up to 70% non-refundable, and then it became completely non-refundable after that.

Also, let’s not forget that in order to book with Costco, you must first be a Costco Member. If you’re not an existing Costco Member, you’ll need to add on the price of a Costco Membership to your expected fees. A standard Costco Membership is $60 per year. They also have an Executive Membership that comes with additional perks. This membership will cost you $120 per year.

Get Away Today Vacation Packages

Enough with the bad news. It’s time to get back to providing you with ways on how to actually save money on your Walt Disney World vacation package. Get Away Today was able to come through and still provide an opportunity to save money on standalone Disney World tickets. Well, guess what. They’re going to do it again for your vacation packages!

First of all, you will actually be able to book a discounted vacation package with Get Away Today. This alone is a fantastic reason to book with them rather than Costco. Yes, Costco does have some incentives, BUT you will receive so much more value for your money when booking with Get Away Today.

There are so many perks that come along with booking a Walt Disney World vacation package with the amazing agents at Get Away Today. Also, as opposed to having to pay your balance off 45 days in advance, with Get Away Today, your final payment won’t be due until 9 DAYS in advance.

Unlike Costco, who has strict cancellation policies and little to no flexibility, you will have absolute freedom with the Peace of Mind Plan. When you have this plan, you’ll be able to make multiple changes to your vacation package without any fees. Change your ticket option, reschedule your hotel stay, completely change your hotel, drop a night off of your stay, cancel your hotel, or cancel your whole package for FREE .

Let’s go back to the initial question. Is a Costco Disney World package worth it? The only outstanding perks that I can find from a Costco Disney World vacation package are the incentives that are sometimes available. However, I don’t personally feel like the perks outweigh the restrictions and lack of flexibility that come along with their vacation packages. Plus there’s the simple fact that you don’t save money by booking their vacation packages and that’s our main goal here.

You do not receive any discount for booking Disney as a package, so in general, it's not cheaper. However, in regards to tickets, the longer you go, the more you save! Savings like these would reflect onto your vacation package.

Are Costco Travel Disney World Vacation Packages Worth It?

These days, Disney World vacations are pretty pricey. To pay the lowest rate, shopping around for deals may be your best bet. There are a few different ways to book a Disney trip. Many work with an Authorized Disney Travel Planner. They are fee free, help with planning details and make sure you don’t miss out on deals. Others enjoy the planning process and do it all themselves. Everything is different if you’re a Florida resident or visit often enough to purchase an annual pass. For those looking to book a vacation package including things like a hotel room and tickets, that can be done on the Disney website or other places like through Costco. Can Costco Travel Disney World vacation packages actually save you money? It turns out Costco has much more to offer than bulk goods!

Costco Travel Disney World Vacation Packages

First, a little bit about Costco Travel . Costco is a wholesale store where you must have a paid membership in order to shop. The travel program is offered as another service to Costco members. You do need to provide a valid membership number and last name in order to use Costco Travel. Members can visit CostcoTravel.com to price out and book vacation packages. Online, Costco offers travel packages and has a Theme Parks & Specialty genre. This includes the amazing hotels and theme parks in Orlando, Florida but other destinations as well.

What’s included with Disney vacation packages through Costco Travel? Does Costco sell Disney tickets?

There are a lot of options when planning a Disney World vacation through Costco online. You’ll have the option to choose from flights, roundtrip airport transportation between the Orlando airport and Walt Disney World Resort, a rental car, hotels including Walt Disney World Resort hotels or popular neighboring hotels, theme park tickets to Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort parks and additional activities like excursions to the beach.

Not shown on Costco Travel is the Disney Dining Plan. This returned in 2024. The dining plan may or may not be the most economic choice for you. It depends on how and where you like to eat on your Disney trips. It doesn’t seem like you would be able to add the dining plan on through Disney after.

Also not an option with Costco is Memory Maker. This is the photo package offered at Disney. You should be able to add that on later if you choose to.

Is Costco Travel a Good Deal for Disney World?

Let’s price out a trip for two people to see if Costco Travel provides better prices on Disney World vacation packages. Prices vary greatly depending on your selections.

The resort I selected is a deluxe level property, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas.

The room style is the Deluxe Savanna-View Studio.

I selected five day theme park tickets with the park hopper option added for both travelers.

With those specifications and for the dates of September 14th through the 19th of 2024, the price through Costco Travel is $4,546.00.

To my surprise, Costco Travel does offer a better rate when compared to the very same vacation package on the Disney website. Through the Disney website at the exact same time for this same resort and these tickets for two people, the price is $5,043.36.

Overall, that’s a savings of $497.36 on this Disney trip with Costco Travel.

This not the first time we have seen Costco Travel offer decent savings like this. A few years prior, a November vacation of the same length with the same ticket type but at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort had a savings $307.47!

Mears Connect savings with Costco Travel

Though transport to and from the airport is not part of the total above, it’s also worth booking through Costco. Through Costco Travel, it would cost an additional $58.21 for two for Mears roundtrip airport transportation to Orlando International Airport (MCO). Even this is cheaper with Costco. If booked separately through Mears Connect, this would cost $ 67.20 total for two people.

Are Costco Disney vacations worth it?

We pulled price quotes for a stay at several Disney Resorts in Orlando, Fla., booked directly through the Disney website and compared them to what Costco Travel offers.

The quotes below include 5-Day Disney Theme Park Tickets with Park Hopper Option for two adults and two children.

So, the takeaway is this: Costco Travel may give you an advantage when you’re looking to stay at a value resort inside the park and bundle tickets. But be sure you shop around if you’re looking to stay at a moderate or deluxe resort. Of course, your results may vary!

Remember though: there are always 2 sides of the story. When planning to spend a lot of your hard-earned cash on a Disney vacation, it’s important to know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. The last thing you want is to find out that the deal you’re getting is because you’re missing out on other important perks!

Let’s go over the drawbacks of booking a Disney World package through Costco.

A Costco Membership is Required to Purchase a Disney World Package

This may sound like a no-brainer, but it’s worth noting because a Costco membership isn’t free.

In order to join Costco, a basic membership costs $60 and an executive membership costs $120. While the membership fee may seem like a lot, it can still be worth the savings you’ll make when purchasing anything at Costco.

If the savings you’ll make on items and vacation packages at Costco outweighs the cost of a membership, purchasing through Costco may be right for you!

Be Aware of the Restrictions on Costco Disney World Packages

With the money you’ll save on a Disney vacation package, you must be aware of the restrictions on your package.

The first restriction is the requirement to stay a minimum number of nights. Specifically when booking a Disney World vacation package, members must stay a minimum of 3 nights at the resort of their choice. In other words, if you’re planning on staying less than 3 nights or want to stay at 1 resort for 2 nights and another resort for 2 nights, you’ll have to book with a Disney travel agent (like Get Away Today ) or directly through the Walt Disney World website .

The second restriction is that Disney World vacation packages change frequently and promotions are usually for a specified number of days. In general, Disney World vacation packages include theme park tickets for 5 days. In other words, if you plan on going to the theme parks for less or more than 5 days (or no days at all), you’ll have to book with a Disney travel agent (like Get Away Today ) or directly through the Walt Disney World website .

One final restriction is that Disney World vacation packages are capped at 8 guests. In other words, parties of 9 or more guests will require additional vacation packages.

The lack of flexibility with restrictions on Disney World vacation packages may leave guests uncomfortable with booking through Costco Travel.

While you can save money on a Disney World vacation package, you are required to pay more upfront.

When booking a Disney World vacation package through Costco Travel, members must pay for their Disney theme park tickets in full as well as a $100 deposit per person at the time of booking. Compare this to booking through a seasoned Disney travel agent or directly through the Walt Disney World website in which you’re required to pay a $200 deposit regardless of your party size.

Everything you need to know about Costco Travel — and why I love it for saving money

Costco isn't just the place where you can buy toilet paper in bulk, inexpensive gas, cheap hot dogs and gift cards. You can also book great trips via the company's online travel agency, Costco Travel.

I know, I know: At TPG, we're often staunchly against booking travel through third-party sites , as there can be tradeoffs versus booking directly. But in recent years, I've become a big fan of the travel deals I can find via Costco Travel.

When planning our annual beach trip back in 2022, my best friend found a few options for Mexican all-inclusive resorts on Costco Travel and shared the links with me. I promptly told her we'd probably be better off booking directly and brushed off the idea of booking through Costco — neither of us even had a membership at the time.

However, comparing the prices and benefits at a few of the resorts proved my initial reaction wrong.

I actually got a Costco membership to book the deal since the cost of the membership was less than what we'd save by booking through Costco. We saved around $300 on a three-night stay at TRS Coral near Cancun (one of TPG's best all-inclusive resorts in Cancun ), not including the free hydrotherapy spa circuit and the $241 Digital Costco Shop Card included in the package.

Our stay was fantastic, and I officially became a Costco Travel convert.

If you're curious about how to use Costco Travel to find deals, here's everything you need to know about Costco Travel — and why I love it for saving money on travel.

What is Costco Travel?

All Costco members have access to the Costco Travel booking platform, where you can find and book a wide range of travel — from vacation packages to hotels, cruises and rental cars. You can even book theme park vacation packages to Disney and Universal or specialty vacations such as an African safari.

Once you log in to Costco Travel, you can search for specific dates or destinations or browse through available deals and featured destinations. I personally love perusing the limited-time deals when I know I want to plan a getaway but don't have a specific destination in mind.

Trips booked through Costco Travel are often discounted and/or include perks and benefits you may not get by booking directly or through other booking portals. Usually, a trip booked through Costco Travel will also include a Digital Costco Shop Card (essentially a type of Costco gift card) of varying value.

What travel can you book through Costco Travel?

You can book hotels, cruises, rental cars and vacation packages through Costco Travel. Vacation packages range from hotel-only offers to all-encompassing packages that include airfare, hotel stays and rental cars. You can even build your own package.

However, one thing to note is that you can't book stand-alone flights via Costco Travel. There is an option to book flights through some vacation packages, but if you're only looking for airfare, you'll want to head to Google Flights to check out your options and book.

You can book Costco Travel offers both online and by phone.

Do you have to be a Costco member to use Costco Travel?

Yes. Costco Travel is an exclusive service for Costco members.

There are two personal membership levels: Gold Star and Executive. Gold Star costs $60 per year, while an Executive membership costs $120. The basic membership will give you access to all of Costco's services, including Costco Travel, while the Executive membership also comes with a 2% reward on all Costco (and Costco Travel) purchases.

I've found that the Costco Travel deals alone are worth paying the $60 Gold Star annual membership fee, even though I don't regularly use Costco for my grocery store runs.

Check sites like Groupon for discount Costco memberships, as you can sometimes save on that rate — or get an included gift card that helps offset the cost.

Is Costo Travel worth it?

Costco Travel has its pros and cons, but there are definitely times when it's worth it.

For example, let's look at a five-night stay in Maui in early April. At the time of writing, Costco is currently offering a hotel and rental car package for Hotel Wailea, a Relais & Chateaux affiliated property and one of TPG's favorite Maui hotels .

Here's one cost comparison breakdown of Costco Travel's deal versus booking directly:

Even without including the additional benefits, you're already saving more than $400 via the Costco deal. Add in the value you get from the card, daily breakfast and resort credit (which is more than $1,000 in value if you maximize all benefits), and you're looking at $1,442.45 in savings by booking through Costco Travel versus directly.

And since Hotel Wailea isn't a member of any major hotel loyalty program, booking through Costco Travel wouldn't mean missing out on elite night credits or other loyalty program benefits.

Here's another example — this time for a Universal Orlando theme park trip from June 4-6 for one adult and two children from Houston. The total cost when booking each part (hotel, tickets and airfare) individually came to $2,701.35, while booking it as a package via Costco saved just over $300.

That's a fair amount of savings you could use for some frozen butterbeer or even a new wand inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter .

When is Costco Travel not worth it?

Not every offer on Costco is worth booking.

For one, you won't necessarily find the same availability on Costco Travel. For example, flights booked through Costco may have some seats blocked off, and certain dates for hotel stays may be unavailable. Additionally, not all rental car companies are bookable through Costco Travel (such as Hertz*, which is my preferred rental car company due to the perks I get through my Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card ).

Plus, some hotel stays have a minimum stay requirement. If you're on the hunt for a long weekend getaway, you may not be able to take advantage of some Costco Travel deals.

Even when you do find availability, you should always price-check what you can find by booking directly or through your credit card travel portal and hotel programs.

After booking our fantastic stay at TRS Coral just north of Cancun through Costco, I looked at booking through Costco again in 2023 when planning our annual beach vacation.

While Costco had a deal available for the same resort, we happened to be booking when the resort chain was having a Mother's Day sale for anyone booking directly. We were able to try out a new TRS resort closer to Playa Del Carmen, TRS Yucatan; we saved more than $100 on an even nicer suite than Costco Travel offered by booking directly (even when considering the Digital Shop Card we would have gotten by booking with Costco).

Something else to consider when booking hotels through Costco Travel is loyalty program rewards and elite status. There are a lot of hotels available to book through Costco Travel that are part of major loyalty programs, from Hyatt Honors to Marriott Bonvoy to IHG One Rewards and more. But booking through Costco Travel — just like booking through most other third-party services such as Expedia — means you likely won't earn loyalty rewards, elite night credits or have any elite night benefits honored.

You'll also have to use Costco customer service if you run into any issues rather than going directly to the brand. This is especially important when considering booking a vacation package that includes flights, given the higher potential for delays or cancellations.

Why I love Costco Travel

I am typically a staunch proponent of booking directly, but Costco Travel is an exception. I've found that the benefits I can get by booking some trips via Costco outweigh the cons (some of which include having to go through Costco for any customer service help or occasionally losing out on elite night credits).

Digital Costco Shop Cards

My favorite thing about booking trips through Costco Travel is the Digital Costco Shop Card I get after booking. The card's value varies from trip to trip (generally depending on how expensive the package you book), but you can get hundreds of dollars back to use at Costco.

The Digital Costco Shop Cards can be used for Costco warehouse purchases (a game changer with grocery prices so high due to inflation), but you can also use them toward future Costco Travel bookings. And remember — Costco doesn't just carry bulk grocery items. You could use a Digital Costco Shop Card to buy a new flat-screen TV for movie nights and game days, a new outdoor patio setup ahead of summer or even Costco Pharmacy prescriptions.

I admittedly don't use Costco for groceries often (buying in bulk doesn't make a lot of sense for someone who lives alone), but I have used shop cards to help pay for Christmas presents and future Costco Travel trips. I've actually been looking into using my most recent Digital Costco Shop Card on a new pair of AirPods and a new TV mount for my living room.

Deals on non-points hotel stays and all-inclusive resorts

When I'm looking at booking a hotel stay at a brand like Hyatt or Marriott, I generally choose to book directly in order to earn elite night credits and points. However, when looking at properties not part of a major loyalty program, Costco Travel is often a go-to anytime I can find a deal.

Costco Travel has a nice deals section, and I usually look there first if I'm not sold on a specific destination for a getaway. While deals found on Costco generally have a narrow booking window, I've found that many offer a lot of flexibility for the actual trip dates.

A few examples of limited-time deals for January include Hotel Wailea from the example earlier in this guide, all-inclusive resorts in Mexico's Riviera Maya, and Disney and Universal theme park packages.

Simplifying group vacations

I'm often the travel planner in my friend group (which makes sense, considering what I do for a living), but not everyone is an avid points and miles user like myself. For group trips where we're splitting the cost of hotel rooms among multiple people, it often doesn't make sense to use points and miles to book.

Costco Travel vacation packages offer a way for all of us to save money, and it makes narrowing down potential destinations and hotels easier. Rather than everyone having to spend hours researching ideas and prices from across the internet — which might be my idea of a fun Wednesday night but isn't for some of my friends — I typically just send them to Costco Travel to see if any of the featured deals catch their eye.

Having reservation information for multiple aspects of a trip, such as a hotel and rental car package, makes sharing and saving the itineraries a breeze.

Bottom line

Whether or not you currently have a Costco membership, you shouldn't dismiss Costco Travel as just another online travel agency.

If you know where to look and are willing to price-check the deals you find, you can save a lot of money with Costco Travel deals. I've personally had a lot of success booking friends getaways to popular destinations like Mexico through Costco. Using the service has helped me save on other expenses with the Digital Costco Shop Card I've gotten with my bookings.

For me, the $60 annual membership fee to Costco has been more than worth it to utilize Costco Travel.

Costco ticket offers vary from time to time, but you’ll typically see a few recurring offers throughout the year.

The first is going to be a buy 2 days, get 1 free, or buy 2 days, get 2 free type of offer.

If you plan on visiting Disneyland for more than two days then you’ll likely find this offer a really great deal. Additional days at Disneyland can range anywhere from $50-$100, so you’ll be saving yourself a decent chunk of cash this way.

You also might find deals that include a food and beverage credit, meaning you’ll be given a voucher that’s valid at most Disney restaurants to pay for food. We’ve seen offers here stretch to as much as $500 of free food depending on what type of tickets you purchase.

You’ll seldom find offers on single-day tickets or tickets without a park hopper option.

If you’re planning a quick one-day trip to Disneyland then it might be worth considering a longer stay to take advantage of these offers. However, if you’re set on only spending a single day at Disneyland then you’ll want to look elsewhere for ticket deals.

Park hopper is almost always required with these ticket deals as well.

We’ve seen tickets without the park hopper option go on sale in the past at Costco, but most recently you’re going to need to be okay with purchasing the (more expensive) park hopper option to get any sort of deal.

Disneyland tickets from Costco are transferable!

If you purchase the tickets as a gift for someone else you can give them to someone as long as they are unused.

Tickets must be used by the same person on every day they are valid for. This means the person who uses the ticket first is who the ticket belongs to and then becomes untransferable.

As long as the ticket remains unused it can be given to another person as a gift or if you need to buy the ticket on their behalf.

Costco Disneyland tickets cannot be resold though.

Disneyland tickets are also non-refundable, except in very rare circumstances . Be sure you're heading to Disneyland sometime shortly if you plan to purchase tickets from Costco as it's likely you won't be able to get a refund if your plans change.

Disneyland tickets from Costco are nearly always a great deal, but be sure you're not overspending just to qualify for a certain deal.

Because most tickets from Costco are deals on multiple days at Disneyland, likely, you'll only get value from these tickets if you plan on staying between 3-4 days at Disneyland.
