As well as stunning beaches and coves, these islands contain mesmeric buildings, towns and interesting history. Between the two World Wars, the Dodecanese islands were held by the Italians, which influence is shown through the architecture.

Blue Cruises Turkey Greek Island Gulet Cruises

With the amount of choice available, it can be difficult to choose your destination, but with a Greek island gulet cruise, you can have them all. That’s the beauty of Turkish Gulet Cruises and the reason more and more people are choosing a yachting holiday, to wake up with the warm summer sun of the Mediterranean and find yourself sailing to a new location every day, whether you only have a few days or a couple of weeks you can see as much or as little of the Greek islands as you choose. If you want to visit the Greek islands and want to create an itinerary of your own then a private yacht charter may be what you are looking for.

Two of our most popular Greek island cruises sail from Bodrum harbour the first, cruising the north islands. After meeting your captain and crew its time to sit back, relax and let us take the reigns as we sail to the island of Kos a beautiful island steeped in tradition and ancient history it’s the birthplace of Hippocrates, father of modern medicine and there is a plane tree that many come to see as it is widely believed to be the tree the Hippocrates himself stood under and taught his students. Kos is a relatively small island that survives off of tourism yet still does not feel very touristy and at 40 kilometres long and 8 kilometres wide and a coastline of some great white sandy beaches it has hung on to its simplistic charm.

Bodrum - North Greek Islands

Bodrum - north greek islands (a/c).

Leros is further north and much smaller but has much to see apart from the usual great food and beaches, it has a wonderful medieval castle built by the knights of saint john and one of the best museums of Greece housed in one of the original tunnels dig in the second world war. There is also a great legend attached to the island, that of a young 18-year-old knight in the 16th century who after a mighty battle where all the men of the island were killed he dressed all the women and children in the dead men's armour convincing the opposition that the islands army were still strong.

Patmos island is another beautiful location surrounded by the lightest clearest crystal blue waters and is where the book of revelation is believed to have been written. Lipsi island with its charming typically Greek whitewashed houses has an abundance of little churches and monasteries dotted all over the island with some wonderful stain-glassed windows, all dedicated to a different saint.

The island of Kalymnos is known by all the others as being the wealthiest and was once connected to the small neighbouring island of Telendos until an earthquake in 554 AD separated them. A beautiful island with amazing architecture. The north island cruise then returns to Turkish waters to Turgutreis and Aquarium bay before returning to Bodrum, back to where the cruise began.

The southern island cruise takes you directly from Bodrum to Kos, Gyali and Nisyros and then onto the island of Symi where today tourism is the main industry but traditionally the island survived for thousands of years off of boat building and sponge diving, the island is lovely and has some of the prettiest towns scattered across it from the sea as you arrive the scene that greets you is that of traditional whitewashed houses perched one after the other from high up the mountain slopes till they seem as though they might fall into the sea. The southern town of Panormatis is particularly worth visiting and has the wonderful monastery dedicated to the archangel Micheal.

It's then onto Rhodes the largest of all the Greek islands that are part of the Dodecanese islands, another stunning location with the usual sandy beaches that stretch out before, and many great tourist resorts some busy and some sleepy, but it is the main city, Rhodes Town the capital is an impending first sight on arrival, surrounded by high stone walls as far as you can see and entering in the cities main gate, you are transported back in time as you wander through a maze of wonderful cobblestoned streets that connect at every twist and turn, this place is full of restaurants and boutique shops selling just about everything, you can't help but feel its vibrant atmosphere.

On the return journey back to Bodrum you will also take time to relax swim and snorkel in the delightful Turkish bays of Palamutbuku, Cnidus, Datca, Black Island and Poyraz Harbour.

Gullet cruises Greece

Sailing between the Greek islands

There's something timelessly romantic about the thought of sailing between beautiful Greek islands. It evokes the ultimate feelings of freedom, and a sense of fun and adventure combined with relaxation and luxury.

If this sounds like it might appeal to you, then Gulet cruises in Greece could be just what you are looking for.

Gullet cruises in Greece

What is a Gulet?

A gulet is a two or three masted wooden sailing boat that originated from the south-western coast of Turkey.

Perfectly designed to sail on the waters between the Greek islands, they offer a stylish and elegant way to experience life on the waves whilst sacrificing none of the creature comforts.

Available for one and two week cruises, a Gulet sailing holiday is a unique way to explore the Greek islands as a couple, family, or groups of friends.

Gulet Cruise Greece

Most people have heard of the ‘famous' Greek islands such as Crete and Santorini . Whilst you can still visit these on a gulet cruise of Greece, there are 5998 other Greek islands to choose from!

Perhaps visiting the island of Patmos might appeal, as might Kos or Nisyros.

There are a seemingly endless list of possibilities, although these top cruising itineraries in Greece are a good place to start.

If I were to choose 3 gulet cruises in Greece that most appeal to me, they would be the following:

The Cycladic Islands

Arguably the most well known of the Greek island groups, when most people have a picture of a ‘Greek island' in their heads, it's probably one of the Cycladic islands.

Crystal blue clear waters, a deceptively simple architecture, and great beaches… what more could anyone want!

If I had the choice, my ideal Gulet cruise itinerary would include Mykonos , Delos, Paros, Ios, Santorini ,  Schinoussa , Naxos and Rineia.

The Ionian Islands

I've already visited a few of the Ionian islands which are situated on the west coast of Greece, but it wouldn't stop me going back for more!

I've always meant to return to Kefalonia after my time spent there a few years ago grape picking , and in my opinion the island of Lefkada has some of the best beaches in Greece!

A great gulet sailing itinerary for the Ionian islands in Greece would be something along the lines of starting in Messolongi, and then sailing to Kefalonia, Ithaca , Lefkada, Meganisi and Mitikas, Kalamos and Kastos, and  Zakynthos .

  Is Greece on your radar this year? I know I can't wait to spend some time on the beaches during the summer!⠀ #Greece2018 #Greece #visitgreece #beaches #greekbeaches #travelbloggersgreece #beachlife #travel #travel2018 #summervacation #summerholiday #greekvacation #greekholiday #lovegreece❤ A post shared by Dave Briggs (@davestravelpages) on Jan 2, 2018 at 10:16am PST

The South Dodecanese

Although I've visited Rhodes in the South Dodecanese, there's plenty of other Greek islands there I have yet to experience!

The idea of spending a couple of weeks sailing between them is very appealing, especially if the route was something like Kos, Nisyros, Tilos,  Symi , Rhodes.

If not this summer, then maybe next summer!

Greece Dodecanese Rhodes view on the sea from the Acropoli of the Lindos village

Sailing between the Greek islands is a great way to see a lot of the country in a short amount of time. The islands are all very different, so you get a good variety of landscapes and cultures to experience. Gulet cruises are also a very relaxing way to travel – perfect if you want to take it easy on your holidays!

Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or an adventure with friends, gulet cruises in Greece are a great option. With so many islands to choose from, you're sure to find the perfect itinerary to suit your needs. So what are you waiting for? Start planning your dream Greek island-hopping adventure today!

Cruise the Greek islands

Ahh, ancient Greece . Besides being known for her history, poetry, and tradition, she radiates beautiful and wild Mediterranean nature, authentic food, and hidden sea treasures. And what better way to discover the Greek islands than on a 7-day Greek island cruise onboard one of the luxury vessels? Because luxury Greek island cruises are so in demand, the availability of yachts is very limited. By booking your yacht charter early enough, your cruise of the Greek islands will be guaranteed.

In this article, we will guide you through the best islands to visit during your Greek island hopping cruise, the top yachts for this type of journey, and which are the best 3 Greek itineraries that will make your adventure on the Ionian sea an unforgettable experience.

Let’s begin with the best islands to visit while on a cruise in Greek islands.

Mykonos island beach, Greece

Your 7-day Greek island cruise starts from Athens, and the first stop should be the famous island of Mykonos. The Greek version of the Spanish Ibiza is well-known for its lavish private parties, elegant high-end restaurants, and endless megayachts lined up along the coast. But there’s more to Mykonos than the dazzling sand and insatiable revelers.

The island’s 25 beaches are justifiably the biggest natural attraction. The white and blue colors are featured across the island’s architecture, making it so unique yet warm and pleasant.

If you are spending your Greek cruise with your loved one, you cannot skip a visit to Santorini. With its clear turquoise water surrounding the massive active volcano and its famous breathtaking sunsets, Santorini is considered the most romantic getaway in Greece.

The island is becoming a popular “wedding destination” for couples from all over the world, so in case you are planning to go down that road, this is just the perfect place. The island’s inland features endless vineyards and traditional villages that let you see beyond the tourist hustle. Make sure you stop in Pyrgos and taste the local delicacies, and walk through charming backstreets.

Santorni

Everything was simply fantastic

We got on the boat in Gocek and (sadly) left the boat in Marmaris. My family will never forget this wonderful experience. Swimming in the bluest water you can imagine was a blast and we were lucky enough to watch a turtle swimming right next to our boat. What a special experience!

We recommend this b oat more than anything and will definitely do it again. Thank you for everything. Everything was simply fantastic!

Consigliata

Ottimo grande caicco, disponibilità equipaggio, mangiato bene

Grazie Tiziano, un caro saluto a Roma
