Hop2 Help Center › Booking a Flight › Everything you need to know about travel during COVID-19

At Hop2, we always take care of your health and safety so that you can travel with confidence. Furthermore, we understand how confusing it is to know what to do when planning a trip, considering that the situation changes from day to day.

That’s why we’ve decided to bring together the most useful tips and trusted sources of information in a single place to help you smartly organize your travel.

What do you need to do before you depart?

Consider entry requirements for the country you’re traveling to.

Due to the rapidly growing global health urgency, many countries have enforced specific entry restrictions related to health concerns. So please make sure to check your destination country restrictions before going on a trip.

❗️ See the latest travel advisories for your destination.

Get more flexibility and protection

Be always prepared to deal with any unexpected circumstances that might occur before boarding a plane.

Opt for our extra options to change your departure time and date , save more when making changes to your booking , and get the opportunity to cancel your flight for any possible reason .

Consider adding these options while making your booking, so you’ll get an irreplaceable extra layer of security and comfort.

Prepare all the documentation

The Covid-19 pandemic created a whole new checklist of what you should bring with you on your trip. Here’s the essential paperwork you need to have in your bag:

Proofs of vaccination

It doesn’t matter where you’re traveling to and what requirements the country has for checking your “vaccination status,” it’s always recommended to bring all of your CDC-issued (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) copies or digital certificates with you.

Ensure to keep them safe and, before arriving at the airport, double-check all your vaccination proofs to be fully prepared to provide the authorities with this documentation.

Passenger locator form

To help with contact tracing of traveling passengers, many European countries require their visitors to complete a digital passenger locator form before planning a trip.

It might not be enough to show only your Covid-related documents—the form implies a lot of additional information needed for the country’s health authorities.

For example, the form may include your address where you’re planning to stay at, as well as confirmation of the scheduled Covid-tests you’ll need to take after arrival.

Covid test results

In addition to other documents, many countries require you to show proof of a negative Covid-test. The type of these tests varies by country. For instance, some countries accept only PCR tests, while others will be fine with rapid antigen tests. Therefore, it’s recommended to check what type of test is required for your flight before departure.

Just for a small reminder, make sure to keep your test results in both paper and electronic forms.

This item has become part and parcel of our life. Ensure to take at least one mask with you—most probably, it will be required for many places, including indoor activities.

However, some countries (e.g., Germany) oblige people to have surgical masks, such as N95s, when riding public transport or visiting public spaces.

In such cases, to avoid unpleasant surprises, take care of bringing two different types of masks with you when traveling abroad.

Proof of insurance

Before planning a trip, double-check the specific health-insurance policies for your destination country. Why is it so necessary? Many countries still require you to have health insurance, even if you’re fully vaccinated or have Covid test results at your fingertips. Thus, you might not be permitted to enter the country without having the appropriate health insurance.

For instance, if you’re going to Europe from the United States, get acquainted with the offered health insurances to prepare for your trip.

Proofs of relationship

This section will be incredibly helpful for those who travel with kids or other relatives. To avoid unnecessary questions or arguments at the airport, make sure to bring any proof of your relationship with you. In addition to relatives’ passports, a child’s birth certificate or a court document might be enough.

Valid passports and visas

Ensure your passport expiration date is at least six months from your return date. Also, it’s essential to check what visas your destination country requires and take care of them before booking a trip.

If you’re traveling from the United States with an American passport, you’re allowed to enter about 116 foreign countries with no visa needed. Nevertheless, some countries require an entry visa .

If you possess another passport, we recommend you check with your destination country authorities what kind of visa is required for your travel.

Note that failure to comply with these requirements may result in denied boarding.

Tests for your return

It doesn’t matter whether you’re vaccinated or not. When traveling back to your country, sometimes you’ll also need to double-prove your health status. So make sure to verify whether you need to provide repetitive Covid-tests.

❗️ Use this free online tool to check the latest travel regulations and necessary documentation for your destination country.

And again, we recommend you download and print each Covid-related document. Keep the documentation organized and handy in both digital and paper forms so that you’ll be fully prepared to pass any potential check before, during, and after your journey.

Duncun is Awesome!

Duncun was my agent and not only did he help me get a cheaper deal but he helped me book 2 additional flights for my friends too, so that we could all have the same flight! I had several questions and he was very patient and super helpful! We were all able to book the same flights and it was a very smooth process!

Seamless cancellation

I was helped indirectly by Norma which was really nice. It was very easy to cancel an existing trip and make a new one with the same process. I'm not sure if I was charged a fee (I have to verify) but even so having a seamless experience is worth it.

Date of experience : October 24, 2022

Dear Michael Burke, Thank you for your nice words! The last thing you need when planning a trip is to worry, that is why we focus on personal assistance. Hope you enjoyed booking with Norma. Faithfully Yours, Hop2 Team

Excellent customer service

Today I had a wonderful experience getting help from the representative Charisma who had helped me to book my trip to Latvia. It took a while to find a solution to my problem, she was very attentive and showed her respect, understanding and patience. I really appreciate her efforts to get a better results for my trip: she was asking questions, listened to my responses, and was making sure I am satisfied. Charisma assisting me was extremely helpful, positive and informative. Finally we found a solution which satisfied my needs and she booked a very good ticket for my trip. I also very much appreciate help from Charisma's supervisor who looked into my case and provided a guidance.

Dear Galina, Amazing Review! We are glad to hear about your positive experience with our services . We will pass along your kind words to Charisma. We look forward to serve you again, Yours Truly, Hop2 Team

Great smooth service

Tucker was patient and waited for me while I was trying to make a final decision about the tickets. He found me the lower price I could find on several booking websites and he was thorough in giving me all the information I needed

Date of experience : November 13, 2022

Within 18 hours of booking..

While booking, I selected all of the protection packages; i.e., lost bags, illness, etc. My credit card company declined the main package as their program mistakenly identified it as "fraudulent." Now, HOP2 has told me it CANNOT be added back. It's an expensive European itinerary for two and now, no protection from illness, airline vagaries, etc.

Date of experience : November 08, 2022

Dear Cassman, We are sorry to hear that things did not go smoothly with your reservation. Sadly, Travel Protection Plan can only be added at checkout when purchasing your ticket. Alternatively, we can advise you to buy a travel insurance from a third party company. We wish you a safe journey! Kind regards, Hop2 Service Team

This travel agency is a shady business…

This travel agency is a shady business in the way they lure you to buy cheap tickets but they would require you to go to 2 different airport during transit within only certain limited time. This would put you high risk for missing your flight connection and even get lost in a country you might not be familiar with. So be careful when you booked your flight with them and pay attention to the airport they connect you with or you will have to deal with paying higher fee when you want to change your flight last minute. I’d highly recommend not to book flight with this shady business travel agency.

We are actively working to address the raised issues, aiming to enhance our services and provide a better experience for you and all our customers. Regarding your specific booking, we want to clarify that it was made online, and the flight details were available for your review on the checkout page before confirming the booking. Once again, we appreciate your valuable input and thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Sincerely Yours, Hop2 Team

Everyone’s top priority. Customer service

Customer service is always or should be everyone’s Top priority. Whether you are in retail or commercial. Jane B. was very polite and respectful to my filipino friend. She was thorough but very fast. She answered right away and got the job done. Seeing a Visa card with a different name than the plane ticket being issued would bring up a red flag. I had called my banks fraud department ahead to expect it. Once she found that out the ticket was issued immediately. In my career as a banker for 38 years I have seen and trained a lot of people. Thank you Jane and whomever trained you. Job well done.

Able to give Hop2 another try

When I first discovered Hop2 for international flights since I have family out of the country, it was wonderful. ..but then it went downhill with over aggressive agents. So I stopped using it. Recently an international airline completely hosed me on a discount code. Prices for flights were much higher so I decided to reach out to Hop2 again via chat. Butch was the rep I got. I told him my situation and he was able to get the flight I wanted with the extras I wanted at a great price. He did it quickly and answered all my questions. Thanks to Butch, I will use Hop2 again.

Bother your personal number without permission

Tried to book a flight ticket with them. They changed the price twice so I eventually decided to boo through another provider. All of the sudden I started receiving calls and messages from them without my permission. They used my personal mobile number that was requested for the flight booking without my consent. Be aware and stay away!

I keep getting notices that my itinerary is no longer available and that I am being offered an alternative. No one seems to know what is going on. I have chatted with at least 4 different customer service agents. I confirmed with the airline directly that I am still booked and I don't see any changes to the schedule so I am really confused. Today I spoke with Amber. She at least seems to be trying to help.

They didn’t inform us the tickets were cancelled. Now they won’t refund us

They didn’t inform us the tickets were cancelled 3 months prior. We showed up to the airport, waiting to find out nor plane. They then try to reschedule us to flight out of New York (we are in California). Then they said we didn’t accept their accommodations. They refused to refund us. Finally agree to refund a small amount of the tickets, even though we literally have to book hotels and add extra expenses. That was month ago, they still haven’t refund. Call multiple times, kept saying someone will get back within 2 hours, and nothing! How did this company not get sue yet is beyond me. I filed with the New York Consumer Protection.

Dear Hieu, Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Please accept our sincere apologies for this negative experience you've encountered with us. We completely understand your frustration. Is "Hop2" legitimate?

Hello - Skyscanner directed me to a website named "Hop2" for my U.S./Europe flight. The price quoted is unbelievably cheap, the schedule is perfect and it's on a major carrier.

I've never heard of Hop2. Is it legit or a scam?

thanks for any info!

it has reviews out there https://www.trustpilot.com/review/hop2.com

It looks like a fairly recent startup along the lines of Orbitz or Expedia. It's hard to say if they're legitimate. I'm sure they would assure you they are. But if an item or service is offered at an "unbelievably cheap" price from an unfamiliar vendor, one would generally be well-advised to be careful.

Just go to that airline's web site and book the flight. A legitimate third party is not going to be able to sell the ticket at a lower cost than the airline. If it does, the ticket is worth about the price of the paper it is printed on.

Well, I just looked on HOP2, for ORD to MXP on Feb 14 and returning Feb 28. HOP2 quoted $677.21 with Swiss. Same flights on Swiss site quoted $1640.00. At that price I'd book it, and if it was phony, dispute the charges.

On Google flights I see $963 on SAS via Copenhagen and $723 on Aer Lingus/BA--but those involve much longer layovers. Swiss and Lufthansa have much faster connections and are very high.

BUT: Both Lufthansa and Swiss are bookable on Kayak for under $800 . I've never booked through Kayak, but it has been around a long time, and I'd be much more comfortable with it than with Hop2. [Edited to correct incorrect airline above. It's Lufthansa and Swiss that are under $800 on Kayak (not SAS and Swiss.)]

It looks to me like there's not a lot of demand for those February flights, and the airlines are making the tickets available rather cheaply to consolidators while trying to get full price (and then some!) from direct purchasers.

I made mistake of booking through Hop2 at very good price, too good to pass up. We called the airlines directly and they said they could not offer the same price so we went with the cheaper fare at Hop2.

Tickets issued fine, but 3 different airlines, 3 different check-ins, and many problems with double ticketing, paid seats not connecting to the airlines systems. Also one of the airlines has already changed my return flight times twice making a very tight connection transfer time.

I am now frustrated and very nervous about actual flights will even happen. I will return to my personal policy to book directly with the airlines to avoid all this in future. Not always worth the savings.

DO NOT. I repeat, DO NOT, purchase from these people.... it IS too good to be true. We purchased r/t air from LAX to London through Hop2. Our return flight from Paris (Paris to London - included in our purchase) was cancelled and they nor the airline notified us, so we were stuck! Missed our London to LAX return flight and were shoehorned into a nightmare Delta flight through Atlanta! Nightmare flight and not what we paid for. When I tried to get answers, by email, phone and chat - chat was the only way, they didn't return my emails or phone calls - they just blamed the airline... my receipt shows I paid them for travel, but they could not answer or provide any solutions on our behalf. Don't book through these people... the price is tempting and they are trying to pass off as legit.... there's a reason why Expedia or any of the other big fish have not swallowed these minnows. They're toxic! Buyer beware.

Negative 10 stars. My husband purchased a ticket to France back in March. We wanted to extend his stay, so he called to see what his options were to change the return flight. At that moment, he was informed that his outbound flight had been moved a day ahead, the actual day he was calling. Understand, he called on Tuesday, his flight was meant to depart the next day on Wednesday but they informed him that it has been changed to Tuesday, the day of his call. We live an hour away from SFO airport, he would not have made the flight even if we tried. The major issue here is that he was never informed of the flight change. All emails, including their portal still showed the original departure dates. We have been given the runaround of death. We have been passed around to at least 8 agents. Have been on hold for 45 minutes at a time on multiple calls. Told we would get a call back. That they were investigating with the airline, WestJet and would get a call back. We never got a call. So he had to book a new round trip flight at a cost of $2,400+!!!! I am so freaking livid!!! He took to social, posting on Twitter, Facebook, and TrustPilot. Only then did he get an email sent to him attempting to resolve the issue. Mind you!! he had already sent an email as an additional method of communication and was never responded to. What the actual F. You make people blast you on social in order for you to take action? Why are you in business? It has been another 5 days without resolution. I will post until we have this resolved and are refunded.

First of all, for those of you who post that these low reviews are "fake", I can assure you that I am a real person. As for the service, we bought our tickets through the Hop2 representative. Things went fine; no issues. We then decided a day later that we wanted to swap out our tickets for different dates and after looking at our options, we opted to stay with our original plans. Again, the Hop2 representative was fine; professional & adequate. Fastforward nearly 2 1/2 months after purchasing the tickets, we decided to look at the airline website to see if we could check in early. This is where we learned that we we no longer had our non-stop tickets and that our return flight disappeared in its entirety and we had a partial ticket from ATL to BOS. What happened to our return ticket from FCO to BOS?? Call Hop2Travel and after many minutes of attempted chat, we learned that we needed to wait for an email telling us our options. I then contacted the Airline directly and was informed that I needed to coordinate this change through Hop2 Travel. I did learn that the change happened on 7/31/21 and that Hop2 Travel had an obligation to inform me and give me options. Guess what happened. Yep, I informed Hop2 Travel about my ticket and not the other way around. Getting lots of run around and ignoring now. It gets better too. Can you guess who has a rating of F with the BBB?? Yep, Hop2 Travel does. I have tweeted out to Hop2 Travel, I have found the President Brent Stewart on LinkedIn, I have reached out to Hop2 Travel on Facebook Messenger and no one has responded. I have been on hold with Hop2 Travel for over an hour and I have a very lengthy "chat" with Royce. Bunch of BS ass kissing, but no action other than to take my money, not communicate of the airline change. Incidentally, Alitalia has plenty of flights to Boston for our return date. What gives?!?

SCAM! They cancelled tickets without informing anyone. Showed up to the airport to find out no flight. they won't call you. Their phone don't work. Now they said they will refund, been months, still no refund. How are they not got sue already?

They cancelled my flight due to COVID... They cancelled my flight due to COVID back in March 2020. They issued me TRAVEL CREDIT to use before December 31,2021. I tried to use this "travel credit" but it was just a hoax. There was no travel credit applied to my account, my name, or flight -- and they were unwilling to help at all. Worse - they've been leading me on this whole time about the travel credit (January 2022). Stay away from this company at all costs -- they will steal your money like they did mine and countless other customers.

less than one. stay far far away. i booked a trip for 4 members of my family IAD to Milan 9/4 to arrive 9/5. Bought insurance a 'support bundle' for $199. airline cancelled flight. I received an email outlining a 'change' to my flight, in yellow they had highlighted that the layover had been changed from 4.5 hours in Copenhagen to 1.5 hours and would I accept the change? I accepted the change and after I read the email the next day I realized they not only changed the layover, the dates had been changed as well! the new dates were one day later, missing our connections and screwing up our hotel reservations. After calling for several days and then waiting 48 hours after they contacted the airlines, they said that I would have to pay all kinds of change fees to get an earlier date - 9/3. What does their 'support bundle insurance' cover? not your airline ticket! it allows you to make changes and they won't add on their own $150 charge in addition to the airline fees. don't use skyscanner ever don't use hop2 ever just call the airline or book directly with the airline online. they will never give you this kind of run around.

Photo of Sam H.

Worst travel agency in the world! If you book with them better hope and pray that your flight does not get canceled because they won't do a thing to help you. I can't believe that they are still in business and haven't been shut down. Keep far away from this agency.

Nightmare experience, terrible Exchange Department! Despite paying almost $2,000 USD for a flight and an additional $150 USD to have it credited as future flight credit, my flight change request has not been addressed despite calling their customer service line repeatedly for the past three weeks and having tried to make the change for the past 15 months. The agent named Braxton was assigned to me but was incredibly hard to contact, rude, and even hung up on me during one of our conversations, I expect a certain level of professionalism and customer service based on the reviews they have on platforms like Trustpilot. Unfortunately, the experience I had fell far short of these expectations. It was frustrating and time-consuming. Overall, my experience with Hop2 was horrible, and I dont recommend their services to others.

I bought tickets from Japan to Korea to the USA for Jan 31 for $644.85. Because of the requirement to have a negative test for COVID within 72 hours of leaving the country, I took the test, but the result was not ready in time for my flight departure. I contacted hop2, the travel agency I bought the tickets with, to initiate and exchange them for a later date, Feb 2. However, they said the exchange would cost $620.66, almost the original price of the first ticket I bought. At the same time many airlines have been waiving fees or charging very little to exchange tickets due to COVID, and when looking at the airline policies of the carriers I was flying on, such seemed to be their policy, however hop2 was not honoring their policies as the third-party agent. After eventually returning to America, I called and discussed with them about getting a refund and eventually they offered a partial refund of 474.65 through email, not even the full amount. I did initiate the exchange, in the hopes of just ending this at least, but after no reply of my initiation through email, I called and they told me that the refund had been declined on the part of the airlines, saying they had tried talking with the airlines. However, none of this was communicated to me and I had to continually try to contact them on my own. They also stated that the email concerning the refund was not an offer, but an inquiry. So far, they have provided no evidence that the airlines declined the refund, and I will continue contacting hop2 in the hopes of getting a refund if they do not provide such evidence. Now I am stuck with having to pay double the amount I initially believed I was going to be paying. At the end of the day I learned my lesson, absolutely never use a third party travel agent ever again, especially this one.

Run as far as you can from them. They sold me tickets that were basically invalid according to American's unaccompanied minor policy. i did provide the children date of birth before buying the tickets and they still processed the transaction. in the end they refunded me, withholding $300 cancelation fee that American charged - bear in mind I did not cancel, American refused to board the children since the tickets were not issued in accordance to their policy. Now they are completely silent again and the Nicole lady is no longer responding to emails. They are in the business of issuing airline tickets and they should know if the tickets they have issued are eligible ones and they failed in that. I should not be paying for their incompetence.

Terrible experience. I reserved a flight for 10 min. The sales person Zenni bought this ticket for me on a phone call. She confirmed by email if I change my mind I can have an instant refund. it is now 1 month passed from my refund request. the customer service continue avoiding my follow ups. Right now I am on a chat with another customer service ( they don't answer the phone!) he says he is going to arrange a supervise call - they promised this call two weeks ago! HOP2 team I am waiting for my refund request!!! HOP2 Booking Reference: HA21FEB

  • They are 100% unreliable and the customer service is terrible.

“In little time, I was able to receive the finest deal!”

In little time, I was able to receive the finest deal! Ruth was quite helpful over the phone, carefully listening to my needs and swiftly delivering a variety of options to my mailbox. She started by asking whether I had any problems, and then she walked me through the booking procedure. I was blown away with the service and would enthusiastically suggest it to others.

“Scam company”

I would leave zero stars if possible. My trip overseas was cancelled and when I tried to cancel my ticket, no one wanted to call me back, the website wanted to take half of my money in fees and I had purchased the travel insurance that stated I would receive a refund if I need to cancel, which is not what the experience is seeming like. I will never use this service again.

My flight was canceled by the airline, but I can't get hop2 to issue me a refund. I can only connect with "customer care" department that is really just a sales department. They insist I need to talk to the "schedule changes" department, but I've sat on hold for over an hour multiple times and can't get through to a human in that department. I also emailed them 7 days ago but haven't received a response. The next step is contacting my credit card company to dispute the charge...

Tip for consumers: Don't use hop2. If anything goes wrong, like your flight being canceled, you won't be able to get a refund from them.

VERY deceitful and dishonest company. Extremely unprofessional. My flight was cancelled due to COVID back in March and I STILL have not received my refund. I get reassurances from each of the team members that: they will get back to me (these are outright lies, all contact is initiated by me), they say they have sent the check TWICE (lies again), it is being handled (8 months later still no check). DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE! You will regret it, as I do.

Tip for consumers: DON'T use them under any circumstances

Products used: flight only - they cancelled flight, money has not been returned

Wilson is an expert at finding the most affordable tickets. He can combine flights from many carriers in a couple of minutes. I highly suggest you to call hop2 and ask for Wilson's assistance. This might save you money if you're traveling internationally.

Business History

Having spent more than a decade in the online travel business, I’ve seen and experienced some of the frustrations and difficulties that come from trying to book your travel online. And in today's environment of inflexibility, it’s increasingly more difficult to know if you are making the right travel purchase decision. Most people have the opportunity to travel a very precious few times a year, and they want it to be perfect! That was the inspiration behind Hop2 Travel. Why not provide great prices, but also provide the service to ensure each customer gets exactly what works well for them? Our goal is to be unique in the industry. Unlike other travel website where you can’t reach a live person, Hop2.com makes contacting a sales agent that can help you with your booking quick and easy! We’re just a call or email away. Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

By Claudia Looi 2 Comments

Komsomolskaya metro station

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.
