How to reserve a Hot Air Balloon safari and what are the charges

• India’s maiden Hot Air Balloon Safari in Bandhavgarh Tiger reserve has been operational from January 12

• Each balloon is capacitive of nine heads will take off from the buffer zone and fly over the national reserve’s core zone, letting you locate animals in the wild and land outside the core zone.

• Bandhavgarh’s core zone apart from its thick jungles also has an ancient temple and a fort which can be seen from the balloon.

• The inaugural price per passenger is Rs 15,000+taxes for adults and Rs 9,000 for children between 5 to 12 years and is valid till March 31, 2021.

• Indian pan cardholders can also book exclusive chartered balloon safari priced Rs 75,000 plus taxes for balloons carrying 1 to 4 person and Rs 1 lakh + taxes for balloons carrying 5 to 8 persons.

• Entire amount will be refundable if the flight is cancelled due to unfavourable weather, claims the website.

• The hot air balloon ride will last for 45 minutes to an hour

• Reservations has to be done on Sky Waltz’s website, direct from a member of their sales team or through any authorized tour operator prior to the trip.

• The tourists who make a reservation will be picked from the hotel and dropped back post-safari. Light refreshment will be served at the launch site.

• Passengers can also watch the process of balloons being inflated and prepared for flight and make customized additions to their trip.

Bandhavgarh National park spread on an area of 105 square kilometres has a large biodiversity. The park has a large breeding population of wild cats and various species of deers and guard, the Indian bison. The density of tiger population here is one of the highest in India.

Madhya Pradesh Forest minister Vijay Shah during the launch informed that the state is planning to introduce this service to other wildlife reserves like Pench, Panna and Kanha tiger reserves as well.

What should you expect?

Balloon safaris usually entail a very early start, but it's well worth it. You'll be collected from your hotel and taken to the launch site.  After a cup of tea and a safety briefing while you watch the balloon being inflated, you'll be on your way.

The hot air balloon safari usually lasts for around an hour and then your pilot will set the basket down in a suitable safe location, you'll no doubt be greeted by the smiles and curiosity of the local villagers.

Your transfer vehicle will arrive to meet you and take you back to your hotel. We're pretty sure you'll be reliving this experience for quite some time to come.

We book with a reputable company called Sky Waltz. The first and largest fully licensed and approved hot air balloon operation in India, authorised by India's Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Sky Waltz has been operating since 2008 with highly experienced and internationally licensed pilots from Europe, USA, Australia, Canada, India and the UK. They adhere to globally recognised safety standards and international operating procedures, you're in safe hands.

Where to go

Sky Waltz operates in four bases: Jaipur, Pushkar, Ranthambore in Rajasthan and Lonvala in Maharashtra. They also offer balloon safaris on a request basis during Pushkar Cattle Fair and Nagaur Cattle Festival.

Flights are seasonal, operating between September and June in Rajasthan, and between October and May in Maharashtra. Flights take place in the early morning, around 6am, and at certain times of year in the late afternoon, as this is when the winds are most stable.

How to do it

Balloon flights are subject to availability and need to be booked in advance. Sky Waltz collect you from your hotel and take you back there afterwards. You arrive about half an hour before take off and the flight lasts for around one hour. You should allow 3-4 hours for the whole experience. The balloon ride is weather-dependent and if it cannot take place you can rebook for another day or receive a full refund.

A hot air balloon ride will cost the US $280 per person for foreigners while for Indian pan card holders it will cost INR 12,000 for an hour ride. In case you need to cancel your ride you will get a 100% refund if you cancel up to 72 hours before the activity begins.

The operating season for the hot air balloon rides starts from September and last up to April. They usually operate during sunrise in the morning and the evening before sunset as the air behaves at its best at that time of day.

You will have to provide your pick-up address while booking the ride. Make sure you confirm the pick-up place and time directly with the local operator. You can contact them through the information given in the voucher you get after booking. The pick-up is applicable if your hotel is within 10km in Jaipur. If your location is in the outskirts you will have to pay a supplement charge on the website.

From now, enjoy hot air balloon safari in Pinjore

Chief minister khattar took the first hot air balloon safari ride along with haryana assembly speaker gian chand gupta and school education and heritage and tourism minister kanwar pal.

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday inaugurated the hot air balloon safari in Pinjore. From now, a person can enjoy one trip of the hot air balloon for ₹ 13,000.

Chief minister Khattar took the first hot air balloon safari ride along with Haryana assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta and school education and heritage and tourism minister Kanwar Pal.

“Considering the feasibility of this hot air balloon safari which started from today, the state government will give ₹ 72 lakh to the company as Viability gap funding (VGF) for 2 years,” the chief minister said.

The rate has been fixed at ₹ 13,000 per person per ride by the company.

“The experience of the first safari was very good and from the security point of view, it was very safe. The company operating the hot air balloon has obtained safety certificates. The introduction of hot air balloon safari in this area will not only boost tourism but will also provide employment opportunities,” Khattar said.

He said that there is immense potential for tourism in Haryana and the state government is continuously increasing tourism activities. He said that Haryana is now moving towards water sports and adventure sports activities.

“Adventure sports like paragliding, water sports activities, jet scooter, para sailing and trekking have also been started by the government in Tikkartal area near Morni Hills. Apart from this, tracks, mountain biking tracks and many other activities have also been identified. Besides, forest department has also been involved to increase eco-tourism in Morni Hills,” he said.

Aravalli region is also being developed for tourism

The chief minister said that the state government is developing the Shivalik mountain region as well as the Aravalli region in the form of tourism. He said that roadmaps are being prepared on a large scale to attract tourists from the world to Haryana. In this series, the world’s largest jungle safari park is being developed by the state government on 10,000 acres of land in Gurugram and Nuh districts falling in the Aravalli mountain range. “This will help in preserving the Aravalli mountain range, while on the other hand it will also promote tourism in Gurugram and Nuh areas,” he said.
