is jlo on tour

Her love don't cost a thing, but you can still buy tickets to see her love story unfold this summer when Jennifer Lopez returns to the stage for her first tour in five years.

The global superstar announced Thursday her upcoming This Is Me... Now tour dates, which will see the 54-year-old visit over 30 cities in North America to perform her back catalog of hits as well as fresh material from her new album This Is Me.... Now and its accompanying narrative film of the same name.

Courtesy of Live Nation

The tour marks the latest milestone in Lopez's This Is Me... Now era, which comprises the album, film, and concert series billed as a sequel to her 2002 album This Is Me... Then — all of which chronicle her love life, particularly her relationship with actor Ben Affleck , both in its original form and its rekindled status in recent years.

In addition to the tour, Lopez recently performed two songs from her new album on Saturday Night Live , where she appeared as a musical guest opposite host Ayo Edebiri.

Leading up to the broadcast, Edebiri's comments from a 2020 episode of the  Scam Goddess   podcast resurfaced, which saw the Emmy-winning Bear actress criticizing Lopez's career as "one long scam."

Lopez, however, told EW that the two patched things up before the show. "She actually came to my dressing room, and she was very sweet," she said. "She was like, 'Listen, I was young. I was on this thing. I said these things, and I am so sorry.' She had seen my soundcheck, and she's like, 'You are amazing. I'm watching you out there singing and doing your thing. And I'm sorry.' She was very gracious."

Presale tickets will be available via the On the J.Lo site beginning Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. local time, with general sales kicking off Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. local time on Live Nation 's platforms.

Jennifer Lopez Variety Cover Story

After canceling seven dates of her first North American tour in five years amid weak ticket sales, Jennifer Lopez has renamed it to apparently broaden its scope, changing it from “This Is Me… Now” to “This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits.”

Popular on Variety

Upon release in February, “This Is Me… Now” struggled to find an audience, selling 14,000 copies in its first week. While the album did debut atop the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart due to 11,000 in physical sales, it arrived at No. 38 on the Billboard 200, becoming the second of her nine studio albums to bow outside the top 10.

The album was one part of a self-financed $20 million multimedia project including the tour and the two films, “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story,” and a documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.” Variety described the endeavor as an examination of “Lopez’s life as a serial romantic” following her romantic rekindling with actor Ben Affleck, who she married in 2022 after nearly two decades apart.

Jennifer Lopez (born July 24, 1969) is an American R&B, pop and Latin music singer, best known for her smash hits “Jenny from the Block” and “All I Have”, hailing from The Bronx, New York, U.S.

Prior to pursuing music as a career, Jennifer Lopez trained in musical theatre before making her on-screen debut with a modest role in the film “My Little Girl”. Whilst the album earned little critical attention it cemented Lopez’s acting dreams and she subsequently performed in productions of “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Oklahoma” before becoming a Fly Girl on the TV show “In Living Color”. Following further appearances in the films “Selena”, “Blood and Wine”, “U Turn”, and “Antz”, Lopez released her debut music single “If You Had My Love”. The debut record shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first person to have a debut No. 1 since Britney Spears, and raised the anticipation for her full-length.

The studio album “On the 6” was released in June 1999 praised for its R&B, pop and Latin influences. Spawning the subsequent singles “No Me Ames”, “Waiting for Tonight”, and “Feelin’ So Good”, the record propelled the already popular Lopez to household name status. The full-length “J.Lo” followed in January 2001 marking a change in image for the singer with a move towards a more sexualised style. The album topped the Billboard 200 aided by the singles “Love Don’t Cost a Things” and “Play”, the same week her film “The Wedding Planner” debut atop the box office.

In February 2002 the signer issued the remix album “J to that L-O! The Remixes” led by the single “Ain’t It Funny (Murder Remix)". Dedicated to her partner at the time Ben Affleck, Lopez’s third studio album “This Is Me… Then” was released in November 2002. Debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the record draws influence from the likes of Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder and spawned the singles “Jenny from the Block” and “All I Have”. Following acting appearances in “Maid in Manhattan”, “Gigli”, and “Shall We Dance?”, the signer released her fourth studio album “Rebirth” in 2005.

The full-length “Como Ama una Mujer”, Lopez’s first Spanish-speaking album, was issued in 2007, produced by partner Marc Anthony and Estéfano. Debuting at No. 10 on the Billboard 200, the record topped the Billboard Top Latin Album chart, and allowed Lopez to represent her Puerto Rican roots. Also in 2007 the singer released the album “Brave” led by the singles “Do It Well” and “Hold It Don’t Drop It”. Despite disappointing sales and chart placing the record earned positive reviews and features production from longtime producer Cory Rooney and Bloodshy. The full-length “Love?” arrived in 2011, followed by “A.K.A.” in 2014, which spawned the singles “I Luh Ya Papi”, “First Love”, and “Booty”.

Live reviews

JLo’s Concert was just amazing! After seeing her sing at the world cup opening ceremony with Pitbull and Claudia Leitte I was expecting a BIG show, and she exceeded my expectations! She was able to change her costume more than 8 times, just imagine. She appeared on stage lowering down from a rounded platform that opened like a flower, and directly began singing her new big hit I Luh Ya Papi, everybody just started dancing. Seeing Jenny live in concert is just like a big party, fans dance so much, because really it’s impossible not to move your feet! She kept moving around the stage, full of energy. When you stopped bouncing and moving your hips, she would just surprise you singing one of her famous songs and would cheer you up again, non stop. Come on you should have seen the reaction when she started singing Jenny from the Block, the crowd just went crazy. You can really see that she’s been in the game for many years because she naturally knows how to engage with her audience.

Staging is one of her strengths, there was a Tropical theme decoration, and all the dancers were dressed up in hawaiian clothes. With The Brazilian World Cup fever she just created a nice ambience for a cool summer concert. I even bought a pineapple T-shirt from her tour, I had such a good time that I wanted a souvenir :)

If you love to dance, party, or just have a good time, you MUST go and see J-Lo live. I haven't danced so much at a concert before, ever, and it was the most fun. Her enthusiasm and energy encourages the audience to get involved, sing along, and just have fun. She's a wonderful performer as well as vocalist, and watching her energy is so refreshing. She played for an hour and 15 minutes, maintaining her intense energy and fab perfromance throughout, and I think we were as tired as her by the end of the concert! As well as a flawless performance, she looked fantastic and engaged with the audience, proving that as well as a tallented superstar, she is a genuinely down to earth lovely person, although she has released a whopping 10 albums! As well as being a great performer, J-Lo is a working mom, entrepeneur, and actress, juggling her careers admirably. An artist who will give a great performance every single time. Yes, tickets may be expensive, but they're really worth every penny.

jlo's concert was definitely an unforgettable experience. The whole show was stirring up a nuclear in the pit of my stomach.

She's definitely one of my favorite all in all people as she's very multitalented. Her improvisation, dancing, singing, and clothing definitely turns heads and never fails to impress. Her story and how far she came to how she's improved herself and her music is inspirational to see how Jenny from the Block came to be this independent Jennifer Lopez we all have come to know and love today.

She never fails to satisfy us in all the genres she creates tunes in appealing to us on all our song playing devices and some songs so relateable you can't help but to sing and dance along to her beats. She started off with mixtapes and continued into big named record labels but is still down to earth and generally humble. Watching her live is definitely worth the splurge and you'll definitely enjoy it.

I have been a huge fan of Jennifer Lopez since I was little girl dancing in kips bay in the Bronx and I use to see her picture on wall because she was a fly girl on in living color at the time. It was always my dream to meet her and see her in concert. I had one of my dreams come true and it was so much more then what I expected and I got to share it with my daughter too!

This show was a 50th birthday gift, and it was nothing short of amazing! JLO truly gives all she has to her fans! From the different sets, costume changes, choreography, just the entire production is phenomenal! If anyone has the opportunity to take in a Vegas show, JLo: "All I Have" is definitely the one! I would rate it 5 stars!!!!

Jenny from block delivered on the dance floor serving us glitter and glam but I wish there was less of the new material and more of the hits, after all we we’re celebrating her 50th birthday and what better way than to showcase her repertoire.

Jennifer lopez tour 2022 | concerts information, jennifer lopez information about concert.

Fresh off her triumphant turn celebrating Motown's history at Sunday night's Grammy Awards, Jennifer Lopez announced on Wednesday (Feb. 13) that she is hitting the road this summer. The 24-city North American It's My Party: The Live Celebration tour, Lopez's first outing in more than six years, will kick off on June 7 with a show at the Talking Stick Resort Arena Phoenix, Arizona.

Lopez made the announcement on Ellen, revealing that there will be guest appearances from the stars of NBC reality competition World of Dance, where she serves as both executive producer and judge. This will be Lopez’s first trek since 2012’s Dance Again World Tour, which was in support of her album Love? and featured Enrique Iglesias as her co-headliner on the American tour dates. Since then, she has headlined a successful Las Vegas residency called All I Have, which concluded last year.

As a bonus, the show will allow the singer/dancer/actress to celebrate her 50th birthday all summer long on the Live Nation-produced tour, which will also feature the "World of Dance Experience," during which audiences will get surprise dance guest performances from the stars of Lopez's NBC show World of Dance. Tickets for the tour will go on sale soon.

Where Did It All Go Wrong for J.Lo?

Weak tour sales, a baffling album-movie-documentary, and general online mockery—why does everyone seem to have a problem with Jennifer Lopez?

In February, Jennifer Lopez released a bundle of multimedia projects that were each part of a larger statement—arguably, a misguided one—about the power of love or something. One of those was This Is Me … Now , a very cheesy and otherwise unremarkable late-career pop album. The other was This Is Me … Now: A Love Story , a loosely biographical, somewhat egomaniacal adaptation of the album into a blockbuster musical full of astrological melodrama, flashy choreography, and celebrity cameos. Finally, a couple of weeks later, Lopez released The Greatest Love Story Never Told , a behind-the-scenes documentary that’s chiefly about the making of This Is Me … Now: A Love Story but is more notable for its awkwardly invasive glimpses into J.Lo’s famed romance with a dutifully supportive but quite visibly mortified Ben Affleck.

The Ringer ’s Streaming Guide

A collage of characters from popular TV shows, from Barry to Succession

There’s a lot of TV out there. We want to help: Every week, we’ll tell you the best and most urgent shows to stream so you can stay on top of the ever-expanding heap of Peak TV.

This is all, taken together, as overproduced and exasperating as it sounds. Each project has been met with mixed-to-bad reviews and general mockery on social media. J.Lo herself admitted to Variety that she made and self-financed the musical, to the tune of $20 million, even though everyone in her creative orbit, including coproducer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and castmate Jane Fonda, warned her about the risk of further overexposure of her relationship with Affleck. But J.Lo persisted, and the result is a roundly uncanny production that’s distressingly reminiscent of Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All by Myself but also James Cameron’s Avatar and also Paul Hunter’s music video for “Wild Wild West.” Fat Joe plays J.Lo’s therapist, and Jane Fonda plays Sagittarius, in the most cringeworthy release involving either Lopez or Affleck since—too fittingly, really— Gigli. Ticket sales for the tour to promote This Is Me … Now have been exceptionally weak; J.Lo has hastily rebranded the concert series as a greatest hits tour.

The overexposure of pop stars, to a fault, is routine. We know perhaps a bit too much about J.Lo’s pop contemporaries, too, and look: It’s not like Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake haven’t also pushed their own post-peak vanity projects to weak receptions in recent years. But J.Lo has, for much of her career, been a curiously unsympathetic figure, a stone-cold climber whose missteps draw a great deal of schadenfreude and now something of a backlash.

Lopez has long been a more divisive figure than meets the eye. This was the crux of the drama a couple of months ago on Saturday Night Live , concerning host Ayo Edebiri, costar of The Bear , and musical guest Lopez, as the latter was promoting her aforementioned projects a couple of weeks before their release dates. A day before the taping in New York, TMZ resurfaced some old footage of Edebiri, as a guest on Laci Mosley’s podcast, Scam Goddess , saying Lopez “can’t sing” and describing her musical career as “one long scam.” These were jokes , in one sense—a comedic actor skewering a pop star in a harmlessly petty conversation on a podcast brought to you by Team Coco—but then, yes, actually, this has always been the shadow discourse about J.Lo. She can’t sing, and not in the normal way that a lot of pop stars slathered in Auto-Tune can’t sing; J.Lo goes so far as to hide behind uncredited vocals from other singers, from Ashanti (“I’m Real,” “Ain’t It Funny”) to Meghan Trainor (“Ain’t Your Mama”) . These criticisms are common enough that Lopez, commenting on the footage of Edebiri, told Variety that she’s indeed “heard similar things said about me throughout my career.” While Lopez would publicly insist that Edebiri’s comments were water under the bridge, Edebiri led off her SNL appearance with a sketch referencing her criticism of Lopez , in a half-kidding ritual self-humiliation. This was Lorne Michaels making the most of an awkward situation, sure, but also it felt like Lopez putting Edebiri in her place, even if she wasn’t directly responsible for the sketch’s development. Lopez also made a point of telling Variety that Edebiri apologized to her “with tears in her eyes.”

Such is the role Lopez never sought but has played on and off for decades now: J.Lo as pop villain—or, if not quite villain, a sort of hapless foil. Her famous feud with Mariah Carey in the early 2000s gave us the iconic quote from Carey after she was asked about J.Lo: “I don’t know her.” This was a rivalry born out of Carey’s divorce from her label boss, Tommy Mottola at Sony, who reportedly led the label to aggressively promote Lopez and scornfully sabotage the career of his ex-wife. Mottola and the tabloids pitted these two women against each other, and while the rivalry never escalated into any direct confrontation or explicit denunciation, J.Lo has always come across as the loser—a woman out of her depth.

J.Lo got her start as a Fly Girl on In Living Color and as the breakout star of Gregory Nava’s charming biopic Selena. This was the 1990s. These were, in retrospect, the only years when Lopez was so uncontroversially beloved, before her disastrous involvement with Puff Daddy, before her cold war with Mariah, and before her multimedia reach, far exceeding her grasp, could culminate in something as unwieldy and off-putting as This Is Me … Now: A Love Story. Much of the cynicism about J.Lo over the years, up to its latest climax, concerns her particular proportion of fame and talent. There’s the sense that even the heights of her own career don’t quite compare to those of her contemporaries or earn her the same sort of everlasting goodwill. Mariah Carey was arguably the most formidable female pop singer of her generation, with a fearsome command of five octaves, while Jennifer Lopez was a great dancer with a relatively weak singing voice, evident to anyone who has ever intently listened to the chorus of “Waiting for Tonight.” This contrast was always a bit damning, even if the underlying rivalry was false and, in any case, wasn’t J.Lo’s fault or problem. But J.Lo is a talented entertainer, undeniably, even as she struggles to narrow her ambitions in response to that pesky, inevitable question: talented at what, exactly?

This Is Me … Now: A Love Story possibly would’ve worked better as a back-to-basics dance showcase for Lopez, a savvy capitalization on the goodwill from her impressive performance alongside Shakira at Super Bowl LIV. But, of course, it had to be an overwrought showcase for J.Lo as an actor, singer, writer, producer, and lover, too. “Bennifer” is a tabloid romance for the ages, sure, but also the most consistently overexposed aspect of J.Lo’s legacy and one that’s dramatically at odds with her posturing as “Jenny from the block,” when she is, at this point, so clearly and thoroughly a creature of Hollywood, subject of so much resentment, exactly as Fonda warned her.

Entertainment | booms and sirens in israel after iran launches over 200 missiles and drones in unprecedented attack, entertainment, entertainment | so far, jennifer lopez is one of 2024’s big ‘losers’ and maybe ‘everyone hates’ her, fans may be fascinated with j-lo’s ‘persona’ and rekindled romance with ben affleck, but they haven’t rushed to buy her new album or scoop up tickets to her north american concert tour.

is jlo on tour

By many measures, Jennifer Lopez should be in a great place in the first half of of 2024.

After all, the 54-year-old singer/actor/dancer/influencer/entrepreneur isn’t just one of the most famous women in the world, she’s back together with the love of her life, Ben Affleck, rekindling her romance with the actor in 2021 after they dramatically called off their engagement 20 years earlier.

But, career-wise, 2024 has proven to be a challenge for Lopez. In the past few weeks alone, she has faced such headlines as “Why does everyone suddenly hate Jennifer Lopez?” And, on “The Town” podcast this week, entertainment industry experts Matthew Belloni and Lucas Shaw both agreed that she was one of the “losers” so far of the year.

The reason for the “loser” designation? People are not rushing to buy Lopez’s first album in 10 years, “This Is Me … Now” or to buy seats for her North American concert tour this summer, they said.

TOPSHOT - US actress/singer Jennifer Lopez and US actor Ben Affleck arrive for the premiere of "The Mother" at the Westwood Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles, California, on May 10, 2023. (Photo by Michael Tran / AFP) (Photo by MICHAEL TRAN/AFP via Getty Images)

The album peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in February, then disappeared, Forbes reported . Meanwhile, Lopez may have 253 million followers on Instagram, but Belloni, Shaw and others say that doesn’t translate into people clamoring to scoop up tickets to her tour. The tour launches June 26 in Orlando, Florida, and Lopez performs at Chase Center in San Francisco on July 16.

But so far, the concert is facing “weak” ticket sales, which forced Lopez to cancel seven dates last week and to rebrand the tour to apparently broaden its scope, changing it from “This Is Me… Now” to “This Is Me… Live | The Greatest Hits,” Variety reported.

“This is super embarrassing,” Belloni, Puck’s co-founder and The Hollywood Reporter’s former editor, said on “The Town.” Belloni talked about the big “roll-out” Lopez had undertaken to get the public excited about the album and the tour. In addition to a social media blitz, she also released two films, with Lopez sharing that she self-financed her three-part media extravaganza — the album and two movies — for $20 million.

The first film, “This is Me … Now: A Love Story,” is a romantic musical tour of her album. The second has the rather self-important title, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” and is a behind-the-scenes documentary about the creation of the album, with a focus on Lopez and Affleck finding their way back to each other. Lopez is depicted as getting “candid” about her personal growth, her struggle to find a suitable romantic partner and her much publicized habit of cycling through relationships, engagements and marriages. At one point, she acknwoledges that people are probably wondering, “What is this girl’s (expletive) problem?”

But even with Lopez’s big media roll-out, interest in her album and concert are definitely nowhere near Taylor Swift levels, even if some critics would say that Lopez has those expectations. Unfortunately, after rebranding her tour to make it appear to be more of a “greatest hits” event, “it’s still not selling,” Belloni said.

“I asked a big music industry person, like, what the hell is going on with J-Lo,” Belloni continued. “The response was she way overshot. Great person, great work ethic, nice team but they over-reached.”

It’s also debatable whether she has any hit songs, Belloni said, adding, “She was never as big as she was in her own mind. This is a sad situation.”

Shaw, who covers entertainment business news for Bloomberg News, asked, “When is the last time J-Lo had a song that anyone cared about. From a music perspective, I feel like she peaked 20 years.” He compared her to an artist like Shakira, who consistently puts out new music. He said that the public is less interested in Lopez as a musical artist and more interested in her “as a persona.”

On that note, Shaw and Belloni both observed that Lopez is back in demand for her acting, saying that her 2023 Netflix action thriller, “The Mother,” was a hit for the streaming service.

is jlo on tour

Her new documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” also has generated buzz because of its focus on her relationship with Affleck, who has become her fourth husband. Since they married in 2022, Lopez and Affleck have been proved to be surprisingly engaging creative collaborators, including on his popular Dunkin’ Donuts commercials . The couple also have put themselves out to the world as exemplars for mid-life romance and for a celebrity brand of blended-family parenting.

The film has garnered plenty of positive reviews but it also have given more ammunition to Lopez’s detractors, prompting Los Angeles Times writer Alex Zaragoza to ask in an essay , “Why does everyone suddenly hate Jennifer Lopez?”

TikTokers came down especially hard on a moment in the film when Lopez is seen in her home gym after a work-out, letting out her hair and shaking it out with her hands, Zaragoza reported.

“I like taking my hair out like this,” Lopez said a 13-second clip from the film that went viral. “It reminds me like, when I was 16 in The Bronx running up and down the block. Crazy little girl who used to be (expletive) wild. No limits, all dreams and (expletive…”

To TikTok users, the moment was seen as a failed attempt by the megastar to prove her humility and force a connection to her roots as a regular “Jenny From the Block” from the Bronx, Zaragoza said

“I understand that you’re trying to milk this whole ‘I’m humble, I’m from the hood,’” one TikTok user said in commenting on the clip. “This story doesn’t really work for you anymore… This whole story of her trying to seem relatable and more, you know, ‘normal,’ it’s not really gonna work for you. Just stop.”

Zaragoza wrote that authenticity and personal narrative have long been a part “of the fame machine,” and performing authenticity “is a razors-edge walk for anyone in the spotlight.” The writer noted that audiences will turn on a celebrity as soon as they become “too annoying, too present, too cute, to anything, particularly if you’re a woman.”

Jennifer Lopez is having a moment.

The “On The Floor” singer, 54, launched her new album, This is Me... Now , with a self-financed, $20m multimedia campaign that has been impossible to escape.

There was the experimental film, This is Me… Now: A Love Story , about the rekindling of her romance with Ben Affleck . And then there was her Amazon Prime documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told , about the making of the record and the film.

She’s also taking the album around North America on a tour that has recently been rebranded as a Greatest Hits show following “weak” ticket sales.

All this content hasn’t quite generated the kind of headlines that Lopez would have been hoping for.

Her album received middling reviews , her film was widely panned and her documentary has been the subject of countless viral takedowns on social media.

In a similar vein to the “Hathahate” phenomenon of the early 2010s (when Anne Hathaway was the subject of intense online criticism), Lopez appears to have become the internet’s latest punchbag.

Why has the internet turned on J-Lo?

Lopez is no stranger to online mockery. In 2021, she was accused of being “tone deaf” for attempting to spark a viral challenge about the 20th anniversary of her single “Love Don’t Cost a Thing”.

Recreating a memorable moment from the track’s video on Twitter, Lopez tossed her expensive jewellery, sunglasses and clothes onto a beach.

“The #LoveDontCostAThingChallenge STARTS NOW!!!!,” Lopez captioned the video. “Can’t wait to see your renditions.”

Needless to say, the challenge did not go down well with followers who were struggling to make ends meet during the global pandemic. As one fan aptly put it: “Can’t nobody afford to be throwing their stuff on the beach.”

The backlash was not dissimilar to the criticism she has faced since the launch of her latest album in February.

The influx of biographical content has led people to accuse the star of “creative narcissism”. As entertainment journalist Hunter Harris wrote in her popular newsletter, Hung Up : “The [documentary] is 90 minutes of J.Lo speaking candidly and emotionally about the gargantuan effort it takes to, at every single moment, choose to be J.Lo.”

In one of the documentary’s most reshared moments, Lopez tousles her hair in the mirror while reminiscing about her upbringing in the Bronx.

“I like taking my hair out like this,” she says. “It reminds me, like, when I was 16 in the Bronx, running up and down the block. Crazy little girl who used to f***ing be wild and no limits, all dreams.”

In response to the clip, one TikToker named photosbyangela claimed that she and Lopez had gone to the same Catholic high school, and accused Lopez of “lying” and of using the Bronx to “look human”.

“We both attended an all-girls high school in an Irish and Italian neighbourhood, so you weren’t ‘running up and down the block,’” she said.

The controversy inspired people to dig into Lopez’s past interviews to find other occasions where she has riffed off her Bronxite status. In one, a 2022 Vogue 73 Questions home tour, Lopez shared her go-to bodega order – a “ham and cheese on a roll with an orange drink”. “If you know you know,” she added.

Unfortunately, many people did not know and questioned the authenticity of her order. “What the f*** is an orange drink?” asks one TikToker’s mother , who he says lived in the Bronx.

In the midst of all this, Lopez’s critiquing of other female actors in a 1998 interview with Movieline resurfaced online.

On Oscar-nominated actress Selma Hayek, Lopez said: “We’re in two different realms. She’s a sexy bombshell and those are the kinds of roles she does. I do all kinds of different things.”

Cameron Diaz was “a lucky model who’s been given a lot of opportunities I just wish she would have done more with”.

And on Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow, Lopez said: “I swear to God, I don’t remember anything she was in. Some people get hot by association. I heard more about her and Brad Pitt than I ever heard about her work.”

Lopez has apologised profusely since then for her remarks, claiming she was “misquoted and so taken out of context”.

Unfortunately, such context rarely finds its way to a viral post. With This is Me… Now: A Love Story , Lopez has opened herself up to a raft of new soundbites that might come back to haunt her.

With a nationwide tour on the horizon, it could be some time before Jenny From the Block finds some respite from social media.

Jennifer Garner isn’t the only one with a negative reaction to Jennifer Lopez’s This is Me… Now album , as the internet appears to be turning on the 54-year-old multi-hyphenate in ways we don’t think she could have ever predicted.

There appear to have been mixed reviews for the highly-anticipated new album – which the 13 Going on 30 star described as “cringe” and “embarrassing.” And sadly for J-Lo, more negative than positive reactions to the accompanying Amazon Prime film, as Ben Affleck feared when he was getting involved in the project.

The “On the Floor” singer’s tour has also received some less-than satisfactory ticket sales, forcing her to actually rebrand it as a Greatest Hits tour to try and win back some of her fans. All of these setbacks will undoubtedly be hard for the JLo Beauty mogul; but this is only the tip of the iceberg, as she has found herself at the center of a lot of backlash because of these new projects. Keep reading to find out more details…

The Internet Is Turning On Jennifer Lopez Following 'This Is Me… Now' Projects

The "Love Don't Cost a Thing" singer has regularly been teased for saying she is from the Bronx and then being called out when certain things don't seem to add up.

One example is her interview with Vogue back in 2022 for its popular '73 Questions' feature, where she referenced that her go-to bodega order is a "ham and cheese on a roll with an orange drink," adding, "If you know you know." As expected, the internet – which included many Bronx residents – didn't know, and called her out for it.

Jennifer Lopez This is Me Now A Love Story LA premiere

Fast forward two years, and the backlash is continuing. J-Lo releasing her This Is Me Now album, video, and tour has seemingly opened her up to more internet hate than ever before, with the internet thinking that she is killing her career.

If you'll recall, she was accused of "creative narcissism"  by entertainment journalist Hunter Harris in her popular newsletter, Hung Up . She wrote at the time: "The [documentary] is 90 minutes of J-Lo speaking candidly and emotionally about the gargantuan effort it takes to, at every single moment, choose to be J-Lo. Lopez is not exceptional at singing or dancing or acting, but she is very exceptional at being Jennifer Lopez, and that is a separate, unique talent."

Jennifer Lopez's Past Is Dug Up

The "On My Way" singer's alleged narcissism is just the beginning, as the internet has dug up some other parts of her past that perhaps would have remained buried deep and never discovered had she not released her new album and accompanying film and tour . One of the things which has gotten the internet talking involves her music – more specifically, allegations that she stole music from other artists such as Ashanti and Natasha Ramos , to name just two.

X (formerly Twitter) user @Mitsakes2 highlighted some of the music which Lopez allegedly stole in an April 4th post. "1. Jenny from the block, sung by Natasha Ramos. They kept her throughout the chorus and kept in her laugh and her saying 'from the Bronx,'" the post read. "2. I'm real (remix), sung by Ashanti. It was originally Ashanti's song and she made a demo for it. It was ultimately scrapped and given to J-Lo, but Ashanti's demos can be heard throughout the song," the post continued.

The X user also mentioned "Ryde or die" which was sung by Brandy. "The song was originally meant for Brandy's album, but was then scrapped. J-lo then got ahold of it and failed to mask Brandy's vocals in the final version," the post read. The X user also hilariously quipped in her own comments section: "Waiting for her 7 fans to say I was paid by Mariah to post this."

Internet Comments

"Mariah Carey tried to tell us," joked one person in the comments section, in reference to the years-long rivalry between Lopez and the "Heartbreaker" singer. "I love that my intense dislike for J-Lo is being constantly justified," wrote another.

"All these incredible talented singers kept on the bottom in order to uplift someone like J-Lo makes me sick," slammed another X user, as someone else wanted to draw attention to another track. "Also with ain't your mama, you can hear Meghan Trainor's vocals loud and clear," the user wrote.

"So not vocals but she copied the melody of Lambada for the chorus of On the Floor... I never see anyone mention this but it's blatant," noted another user, as someone else said: "Homegirl's a FRAUD."

"J-Lo the stolen vocals tour!" another user rather hilariously exclaimed, as another wrote, "Turns out, she's definitely NOT real," referencing her 2001 song, "I'm Real." "And J-Lo just continues to pretend to be talented? Embarrassing," slammed another, as someone else concurred, writing: "Is she not embarrassed?"
