Dimple Travel is simple in location, staffs, office but is flexible in ways more than you can imagine. Staffs are very professional, and Gamze is such a helpful and informative guide, eventhough she claimed she is not one. Should have found them earlier in our visit to Istanbul.

She was extremely helpful and efficient. We really had a great time indeed.

Prophet Yusha Islamic Tour

Yahya Efendi or Molla Shaykhzadeh (b. 1494, Trabzon – d. 1570, Istanbul), Ottoman Islamic scholar, sufi, and poet buried in Beshiktash, Istanbul.

He was a well known scholar, having served as a teacher of religious sciences during the reign of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent. Yahya Efendi had close ties with the palace, and was consulted by the Sultan throughout his life. After retirement, he built a dergah, numerous buildings and charitable trusts in Beshiktash, and planted trees in the area.

Cennet Mehmet Efendi he was the student of Aziz Mahmud Hudayi Master and he was always try to his best to his master.. Even when master Aziz Mahmud Hudayi was going to sleep that he was in front of the his door and maybe he will needs water or something that I can give very quickly.

Aziz Mahmud Hudayi (1541–1628), (b. Şereflikoçhisar, d. Üsküdar), is amongst the most famous sufi ermiş (Muslim saint) of theOttoman Empire. He was a mystic, poet, composer, author, statesman and Islamic scholar.

Born in Şereflikoçhisar, and he completed his studies in a medrese in Istanbul. He was the Sheikh of Sultan Ahmed I who constructed the famous Blue Mosque and especially gained the respect of Sultan Murat III. He read the first Friday prayer in this Mosque on its opening. The Sufi order Jelveti was founded by the Turkish saint Aziz Mahmud Hudayi. Aziz Mahmud Hudayi served as Qadi in Edirne, Egypt, Sham (Syria), and Bursa. He was a murid and khalifah of Üftade Hazretleri. He wrote about thirty works, seven of which are in Turkish.

His dua, “Those who visit us when we are alive, and those who visit our grave after our death and read the Fatiha when passing by our tomb are ours. May those who love us not drown at sea, may they not suffer poverty in their old age, may they not pass away without saving their faith,” has prompted many sailors of the Ottoman Empire to visit his grave before going out to sea.Aziz Mahmud Hudayi died in Üsküdar, Istanbul and is buried next to his mosque.

Joshua’s Hill (Turkish: Yuşa Tepesi or Hazreti Yuşa Tepesi), a hill located on the Asian shore of Bosphorus in Beykoz district of Istanbul, Turkey is a shrine containing a mosque and a tomb dedicated to Joshua (Turkish: Hazreti Yuşa). The sacred place, 180 to 195 meters (591 to 640 ft) above sea level, is also an important landmark for vessels coming from the Black Sea. At the summit of the hill is a terrace with benches for the comfort of pilgrims visiting the mosque and the tomb of Saint Joshua. To the north of the hill, Yoros Castle is situated.

Joshua’s Hill

Tomb of Joshua

At the top of the hill, a giant symbolic grave stands, known to the Europeans as the “Giant’s Grave”. It is believed by some Muslims to be the tomb of Prophet Joshua. Alternative traditional sites for the Prophet’s tomb are situated in Israel (the Shia shrine at Al-Nabi Yusha’), Jordan (An-Nabi Yusha’ bin Noon, a Sunni shrine near the city of Al-Salt ) and Iraq (the Nabi Yusha’ shrine of Baghdad..

A flat, rectangular earthen rise 17 meters (56 ft) long and 2 meters (6.6 ft) wide. The roofless area is surrounded with a high cast-iron grate, enclosed by means of an iron netting. The point is that the local inhabitants consider the grave miraculous and come here in order to be healed of their illnesses. But, the iron netting prevents the pilgrim from touching the holy ground inside the fence.

Prophet Yusha

About Hz. Yusha (S.A.V )

Yusha (upon him be peace) was the great grandson of Prophet Yusuf (upon him be peace), his full name being Yusha bin Nun bin Afraeem bin Yusuf. Although he is not mentioned by name in the Holy Quran there are references made to him in two places.

After the Bani Israil fled bondage in Egypt and wandered the desert for 40 years Musa (upon him be peace) died close to Bayt al-Maqdis, often referred to as ‘The Promised Land’. Yusha (upon him be peace) took over and led the Bani Israil over the River Jordan and into the surroundings of Jericho (also known locally as Ariha). It was a splendid city with large palaces. He laid siege over it for six months and then with a final push, raising the takbeer, he led his army in and conquered it.

Hz. Yusha

It is said that when they were about to take the city of Jerusalem it was on a Friday at Asr time. The sunset was close approaching which would subject them to the observance of the sabbath (on Saturday), meaning that they would have had to cease fighting. Yusha (upon him be peace) addressed the sun that it was under a command while he was under another command and he prayed to Allah, “O Allah, hold it back from setting!”. It was stopped till Allah made him victorious.

A hadith has been narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said, ”Surely, the sun has never been stopped from setting down for a human being except for Yusha (upon him be peace) on the evening he invaded the Bayt al-Maqdis.”

The Bani Israil lived in the Bayt al-Maqdis for some time and Yusha (upon him be peace) taught them the Torah and ruled according to it. He lived for 127 years.

Well, the ritual is simple. You will find yourself in the warm Hamam ,a room filled with the sound of splashing water, the scent of soap, and wafting steam through which daily concerns and worries cannot penetrate. In the gentle moist heat your body relaxes, and your nerves are soothed. You sit down at one of the marble wash basins which line the walls, and adjusting the temperature of the water to a delicious warmth, dip the copper bathing bowl into the basin and tip the water over your head and body. Waves of relaxation seem to pour right through you as the water envelops your body.

Laying on the warm stone in the center of the room, your attendant will pour hot water on you and begin to scrub every square inch of your body. Basically, every millimeter of dead and dirty skin is scrubbed off, even the skin between your fingers and toes. Then you are given fresh towels and again brought to Sogukluk (the cool room) to rest, dry off and marvel at your glowing, soft as a baby’s skin.

Hodja Pasha Dervish Show Istanbul

Near the mighty Hagia Sophia Basilica and the magnificent Topkapi Palace, Hodjapsha Cultural Center is a delightful piece of the city’s striking cultural mosaic. Transformed from a large 15th-century hamam (Turkish bath), it now welcomes visitors under its high dome ceilings to showcase some of the best of this vast country’s traditions.

Watch the mystical ritual of the Mevlevi Order, whose whirling dance has been declared a UNESCO Heritage of Humanity. The Sema ceremony is a journey through man’s spiritual ascent to “perfection” through mind and love-a truly unmissable and astonishing experience of music and moves.

Mosques – Sahabe Tombs – Cemeteries – Religious places visit In Istanbul. Istanbul is the center of religion for centuries. After the ottoman period Islamic Religion spreaded througout the city. The first mosque in Istanbul was built in Kadikoy on the Asian side of the city, which was conquered the Ottoman Turks in 1453.

The Prophet Muhammad ( SAW ) said: “Verily you shall conquer Constantinople. What a wonderful leader its leader shall be, and what a wonderful army that army will be!” (Musnad Ahmad).

The first mosque on the European side of Istanbul was built inside the Rumeli Castle in 1452. The first grand mosque which was built in the city proper is the EyUp Sultan Mosque (1458), while the first imperial mosque inside the city walls was the Fatih Mosque (1470) which was built on the site of the Church of the Holy Apostles, an important Byzantine church which was originally edificed in the time of Constantine the Great.

Many other imperial mosques were built in the following centuries, such as the famous SUleymaniye Mosque (1557) which was ordered Suleiman the Magnificent and designed the great Ottoman architect Sinan, and the famous Sultan Ahmet Mosque (1616) which is also known as the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles which adorn its interior. Istanbul was the final seat of the Islamic Caliphate, between 1517 and 1924. The personal belongings of Mohammed and the earliest Caliphs who followed him are today preserved in the Topkapı Palace, the EyUp Sultan Mosque and in several other prominent mosques of Istanbul.

Religion In Turkey

Islam is the largest religion of Turkey. Around 90% percent of the population is registered as Muslim, mostly Sunni. The Shia Alevi community, a distinct Muslim sect, makes up 20% of the population. Christians (Oriental Orthodoxy, Greek Orthodox and Armenian Apostolic) and Jews (Sephardi), who comprise the non-Muslim population have dramatically declined since the early 19th century onwards from 20% to less than 1% today, and are continuing to steadily decline since the year 2000 as well.

Turkey is officially a secular country with no official religion since the constitutional amendment in 1924 and later strengthened in the Kemalist Ideology, alongside the Atatürk’s reforms and the appliance of laïcité Atatürk at the end of 1937. However, currently all public schools from elementary to high school hold mandatory religion classes which only focus on the Sunni sector of Islam. In these classes, children are required to learn prayers and other religious practices which belong specifically to Sunnism. Thus, although Turkey claims to be a Secular state, the enforcement of secularism in public grade schools is controversial. Its application to join the EU divided existing members, some of which questioned whether a Muslim country could fit in. Turkey accused its EU opponents of favouring a “Christian club”.

Beginning in the 1980s, the role of religion in the state has been a divisive issue, as influential factions challenged the complete secularization called for Kemalism and the observance of Islamic practices experienced a substantial revival. In the early 2000s, Islamic groups challenged the concept of the secular state with increasing vigor after the Erdoğan government had calmed the issue in 2003. The Turkish Government states that between 90% – 95% of the population belong to the Islamic Majority, but recent polls do not concur. In the most recent poll conducted Sabanci University, 83% of Turks revealed they were Muslim. Of that, 16% said they were “extremely religious”, 39% saying they were “somewhat religious”, and 32% saying they were “not religious”. 3% of Turks declare themselves with no religious beliefs. In addition, only 13% of Turks have a favourable opinion of Christians, and 10% of Jews.

Islam is the religion with the largest community of followers in the country, where most of the population is nominally Muslim, of whom over 75% belong to the Sunni branch of Islam. Over 20% of the Muslim population is Shia Alevi. There is also a small Bektashi community belonging to a Sufi order of Islam that is indigenous to Turkey, but also has numerous followers in the Balkan peninsula. More Recent Poll numbers show that Islam in Turkey is slowly declining. Islam arrived in the region that comprises present-day Turkey, particularly the eastern provinces of the country, as early as the 7th century AD. The mainstream Hanafi school of Sunni Islam is largely organized the state, through the Religious Affairs Directorate, which was established in 1924 following the abolition of the Caliphate and controls all mosques and Muslim clerics, and is officially the highest religious authority in the country.

As of today, there are thousands of historical mosques throughout the country which are still active. Notable mosques built in the Seljuk and Ottoman periods include the Sultan Ahmed Mosque and Süleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne, the Yeşil Mosque in Bursa, the Alaeddin Mosque and Mevlana Mosque in Konya, and the Great Mosque in Divriği, among many others. Large mosques built in the Republic of Turkey period include the Kocatepe Mosque in Ankara and the Sabancı Mosque in Adana.

The mainstream Hanafite school of Sunni Islam is largely organised the state, through the Diyanet Isleri Baskanligi (Religious Affairs Directorate), which controls all mosques and Muslim clerics. The directorate is criticized some Alevi Muslims for not supporting their beliefs and instead favoring the Sunni faith.

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople (Patrik) is the head of the Greek Orthodox Church in Turkey, and also serves as the spiritual leader of all Orthodox churches throughout the world. The Armenian Patriarch is the head of the Armenian Church in Turkey, while the Jewish community is led the Hahambasi, Turkey’s Chief Rabbi, based in Istanbul. All these groups share the same criticism of the directorate.

Masjid Al-Aqsa, Umrah & More

Turkey Istanbul & Ottoman, July Tour

Famous hashimi hotel, virtues of masjid al-aqsa.

“Glory be to the One Who took His servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram (in Makkah) to al-Masjid al-Aqsa (in Al-Quds), whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.” [The Noble Qur’an, 17:1]

On the authority of Abu Dharr (RA) who said, ‘I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, which masjid was built first?’ He said,

“The Sacred Masjid (al-Masjid al-Haram in Makkah).” I said, ‘And then which one?’ He said, “And then the Furthest Masjid (al-Masjid al-Aqsa in al-Quds)” I said, ‘What was the period between them?’ He said, “Forty (years).” He then said, “Wherever the time for the prayer comes upon you, then pray, for the earth is a place of prostration (masjid) for you.”’

[Al-Bukhari]

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,

“ When Solomon, son of David, peace and blessings be upon him, built the Sacred House, he asked Allah Almighty for the three things throughout. Solomon asked Allah Almighty for judgment coinciding with His judgment, and he was given it. Solomon asked Allah Almighty for a kingdom none would have after him, and he was given it. And Solomon asked Allah Almighty when he finished the foundations of the Mosque that none would come to it, intending only to pray, but that his sins would be expunged like the day he was born from his mother .”

Source: Sunan al-Nasā’ī 693

The Holy Prophet ﷺ said:

“What an amazing place of worship it is! Surely, there will soon come a time when, for a man to have land equivalent to his horse’s rope from which he can see Bait al-Maqdis will be better for him than the whole world!” or he ﷺ said, “Better for him than the world and everything in it!”

[Mustadrak Al-Hakim]

On the authority of Abu Ishaq who said, ‘I heard al-Bara’ say,

‘We prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ towards Bait al-Maqdis for sixteen months or seventeen months. Then we were made to change (our direction) towards the Ka‘bah.’’

On the authority of Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said,

“Mounts are not saddled (i.e. do not set out on a journey) except for three Masjids: the Masjid of al-Masjid aI-haram (in Makkah), the Masjid of the Messenger ﷺ (in al-MadÏnah) and Masjid al-Aqsa (in al-Quds).”

Insights Of Turkey

The Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, which served as the residence and administrative centre for the Ottoman Sultans, houses the Sacred Relics chamber. This chamber contains several relics of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, including his blessed cloak, sword and bow, relics attributed to other Prophets (AS), Sahabah (RA) and Sultans are also hosted within the chamber.

The conquest of Constantinople in 1453 by Sultan Muhammad Al-Fatih (Mehmed II) stands as one of the most significant events in Islamic history. After a formidable siege, the city’s formidable walls, which had repelled invaders for a millennium, were finally breached, marking the end of the Byzantine Empire. This victory was not just a military triumph but was also seen as the fulfilment of a prophecy attributed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. With the city’s capture, it was renamed Istanbul and transformed into a thriving Islamic centre, bridging the East and the West, and symbolizing the might and resilience of the Muslim Ummah.

For centuries, Istanbul (formerly known as Constantinople) stood as the illustrious capital of the Ottoman Empire. From its strategic location between two continents to its vibrant cosmopolitan ambience, Istanbul was the heartbeat of a Muslim Empire that spanned three continents. As the seat of the sultanate, it became a nexus of political power, cultural expression, and intellectual discourse. The echoes of the empire’s grandeur still reverberate through the city’s historic palaces, mosques, and bazaars, painting a vivid tapestry of its regal past.

Before the conquest of Constantinople, Bursa served as the Ottoman Empire’s capital. Several early Ottoman Sultans, including Osman Gazi, the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, and Orhan Gazi, are buried here. Bursa houses the magnificent Ulu Cami (Grand Mosque) known for its Seljuk-style architecture and 20 domes.

Istanbul’s skyline is a testament to the artistic and architectural genius of the Ottomans. Towering minarets, expansive domes, and intricate tile work showcase a confluence of Byzantine and Islamic design elements. Master architects like Sinan left an indelible mark on the city, with masterpieces such as the Suleymaniye Mosque and the Selimiye Mosque in nearby Edirne. Each structure tells a story of the era’s innovation, fusing form and function in ways that were groundbreaking for their time, making Istanbul a veritable museum of architectural wonders.

Istanbul’s culinary landscape is as diverse and vibrant as its history. Nestled at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, the city boasts a rich variety of food influenced by numerous cultures, from the Byzantines to the Ottomans. Visitors are greeted with an aromatic symphony of spices, herbs, and freshly grilled meats. The bustling bazaars offer an array of delicacies, from savory böreks and succulent kebabs to sweet baklavas and Turkish delight. Istanbul’s rich tapestry of flavors, whether it’s the street food vendors selling roasted chestnuts or upscale restaurants presenting modern interpretations of classic dishes, ensures that every palate, from the traditionalist to the adventurous, is treated to a delightful culinary journey.
