A short drive on the Viking Trail places us in Gros Morne National Park & UNESCO World Heritage Site; a delightful coastal “run” that separates the Appalachian Mountains from the brilliant waters of the Strait of Bell Isle. Continue to the National Historic site at Port au Choix for an interpretation of the Maritime Archaic people who lived here over 3000 years ago.
Overnight Plum Point. Breakfast, Midday Meal & Dinner .
This is one of the most significant days on the tour, exploring the UNESCO World Heritage site settled by ‘Leif the Lucky’ and the Viking adventurers who settled here in the year 1000 AD. This afternoon, we continue along the coast to St. Anthony and the hospital community established by the famous medical missionary, Sir Wilfred Grenfell.

Keep a sharp eye out for whales as we travel across the Straits of Belle Isle to the shores of Labrador. Here we visit the recently discovered Whaling Station founded by the Basques in the early 1500's, and learn about the "modern techniques" used by these whalers and the hardships they endured. Later we visit the tallest lighthouse in the province at L'Anse Amour. Overnight in L'Anse au Clair. Breakfast & Midday Meal .
Take to the waters again as we maximize our wildlife viewing with a return ferry ride to Newfoundland. Continue exploring the majestic coastline of Western Newfoundland, stopping often to appreciate the many unique vistas, characters, and exhibits for which Newfoundland is so famous.
Overnight Rocky Harbour/Cow Head. Breakfast & Dinner.
This day’s adventure is dedicated to Gros Morne National Park & UNESCO World Heritage Site; starting with an interpretive boat tour across the gentle waters of beautiful Bonne Bay. In Woody Point we’ll visit the park’s new Discovery Centre and view the famous Tableland Mountains. It is this area that earned the park its nickname as the 'Galapagos of Plate Tectonics'.

Bid farewell to the west coast as we take an easterly trek, to a new geological frontier. A perfect harbor provides a beautiful backdrop for an eventful morning of whale interpretation and brilliant art exhibits. This afternoon commemorates the survivors of the 9/11 Tragedy and the many acts of kindness extended when we welcomed the 'Come From Away' guests into the homes and communities surrounding Gander; the epicenter of the hit Broadway musical.

The "Road to the Isles" will take us across causeways spanning the many "Tickles and Runs" leading to Twillingate Island. This is a dedicated fishing community that exhibits great wealth and culture and features spectacular cliff sides and coastal views. Later we’ll wind through the beautiful forests and waterways of Newfoundland’s first National Park, Terra Nova.
Overnight Port Blandford/Clarenville. Breakfast & Midday Meal.
A true day of discovery starts in the historic village of Trinity, one of the oldest, perfectly restored towns in North America. Later we’ll celebrate the beginning of European history, walking the same cliffs as John Cabot when he claimed “Buenavista” for King Henry in 1497. Spend a relaxing afternoon walking the seashore, engaging the locals, or touring the many historic premises for an opportunity to truly understand the inshore fishing techniques that have allowed Newfoundlanders to thrive for hundreds of years.
Natural wonders abound on this morning’s boat trip to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve to views Atlantic Puffins, Murres and the millions of seabirds that nest on these coastal islands. This is a favorite feeding ground for Humpback, Minke, and Fin whales where frequent and multiple sightings are a definite possibility. Visit Cape Spear National Historic Park, the most easterly point of land in North America, before heading into St. John's, the provincial capital and cultural showcase.

An historic tour of St. John’s will provide a brilliant interpretation of North America’s oldest city, and a proper orientation for your free time this afternoon. Visit Cabot Tower and Signal Hill to view the harbour’s "Narrows" and admire the architecture of old St. John's; including the famous ‘Jelly Bean Houses’. This afternoon is free to explore the many historic exhibits, walking trails and boutique shops and galleries that surround your hotel. This evening we share our Farewell Dinner.

Patriots host Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy as draft closes in
The Patriots hosted Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy for dinner Sunday night, the Globe confirmed, and will visit with the signal-caller on Monday.
McCarthy’s visit comes on the heels of similar visits involving LSU’s Jayden Daniels and North Carolina’s Drake Maye earlier in the pre-draft process.
McCarthy, who completed 72 percent of his passes for 2,991 yards to go along with 22 touchdowns and four interceptions, was the quarterback for the national champions this past season. The 6-2, 219-pounder previously met with the Patriots at the combine, and came away impressed.
“It went amazing,” McCarthy said of his meeting with New England. “Coach [Jerod] Mayo was just an awesome guy, asking really great questions. You could definitely tell he’s been around this process a long time, and been a part of it. Just great interactions.

“It would be an honor to be part of their organization.”
McCarthy, Maye, and Daniels all figure to be in the conversation when talking about the third overall pick, which the Patriots have in this month’s draft.

UEFA fines Russia’s Krasnodar over unqualified coach
MOSCOW (AP) — He’s coached Russian club FC Krasnodar to Champions League qualifying for the first time. UEFA’s reaction? Go away and study.
European soccer’s governing body said Tuesday it fined Krasnodar 50,000 euros ($56,100) because de-facto head coach Murad Musayev has spent the last year working without the right license.
UEFA says it ordered Musayev not to perform “any function of a head coach, as well as of any coaching staff, at UEFA competition matches,” and banned him from the dugout. He’ll have to wait a year before taking the UEFA Pro license course.
Krasnodar’s fine was imposed “for the violation of the general principles of conduct” in the case, UEFA said.
Musayev took over as Krasnodar’s head coach in April 2018, but his lack of a UEFA Pro license meant he’s been listed as a “senior coach” with other staff named as head coach, at least on paper. However, Musayev is widely seen as the one in charge during games.
Krasnodar was third in the Russian league last season and starts its Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round in August against an opponent yet to be confirmed.
Last season, Musayev’s team reached the last 16 of the Europa League, knocking out Bayer Leverkusen on the way, before losing 3-2 on aggregate to Valencia.
This story has been corrected to show that Krasnodar’s Champions League qualifying campaign starts next month, not next week.
