what happens during a sunset cruise trip?

Once your party of up to six people arrives, we will depart on  one of our private charters  from Singer Island. A licensed captain will take you on a calm ride to Palm Beach Gardens and further North to catch a photographic view of the area's inland waters and spectacular homes.

The boat is fully equipped with coolers and ice, so if you’re over 21, you can have your favorite beverage and relax while enjoying the experience. You can also connect your smartphone to our excellent sound system to listen to your favorite playlist, or let the captain know, and he can DJ for you.

The Palm Beach Island Sunset Cruise leaves out of the Riviera Beach Marina located at 200 East 13th Street, Riviera Beach FL 33404. Our boat is located at the south end of the marina right next to the the Peanut Island water taxi. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the tours departure time.

Cal & Marty Landau, both Pennsylvania natives, are passionate, sea-loving sailors, as well as licensed, experienced captains - and have been living in the West Palm area for over 15 years.

PRACTICALITIES

Please review this section carefully before your charter. .

• Safety First Every passenger who comes aboard is expected to follow all safety guidelines and instructions presented during the orientation to Carpe Vita, and also to listen to the captain's orders on all matters of personal safety. All passengers are required to sign a liability waiver, which includes agreeing to adhere to safe codes of conduct while cruising. For our and your protection, we have a zero tolerance policy regarding all illegal substances and firearms.
• Food & Drink All cruises include water, ice and snacks (with the exception of the cooking-class cruise). Beyond this - we encourage all passengers to bring their own food and drink with them. We are happy to provide suggestions of our favorite local restaurants. We also supply dishes, glasses, flatware, stemware, corkscrews, bottle-openers, etc. If you wish to have your cruise catered, we are happy to put you in contact with some very talented local chefs.
• Pick-up & Drop-off We offer pick-up and drop-off at the Sailfish Marina or at the West Palm Beach City Docks. Earliest possible pick-up: 7am; Latest possible drop-off: sunset.
• Weather Here in sunny Florida, the weather is generally on our side - however, good sailing conditions are subject to climate fluctuations, and the weathermen (believe it or not) are not always right. If, on the day of the charter, the captain decides that the weather creates unsafe conditions for cruising, we will notify you two hours in advance of departure. In the case of inclement weather, we are happy to work with you to reschedule.
• Payments A credit card is required to hold the reservation. Payment is collected following the completion of your cruise. Cash payment is preferred. We also accept major credit cards. Gratuities are greatly appreciated.
• Punctuality Passengers must arrive 10 minutes in advance of their scheduled departure time. Lateness beyond 15 minutes after the scheduled departure time will be treated as a no-show. No-shows will be charged 50% of the charter fee. If you encounter unforeseen circumstances that make it impossible to arrive on time, we need you to contact us as early as possible to modify pick-up plans.
• Bathroom Facilities Onboard Below deck, we have an electrical flushing toilet for guests in ‘the head’ (sailor-speak for bathroom). It is imperative that you follow all instructions for proper use.
• Cancellation Cancellation Policy: Cancellation within 24-hours of reservation will be counted as a no-show and will be charged 50% of the charter fee. If we need to cancel the reservation due to unforeseen mechanical issues or illness of the Captain and Crew, all fees are refundable.
• Clothing Dress in layers and be prepared for wind. Even on warm and sunny days, winds can be strong out on the water. Bring appropriate clothing to ensure your own comfort. We do supply blankets and pillows for snuggling up.
• Motion Sickness Worried about getting seasick? Generally, staring at the horizon will take care of most motion sickness, but just in case - we have a natural essential oil blend that can help, and we are also happy to share with you some sailing tricks (acupressure points, breathing techniques, positioning on the deck, etc.) Dramamine and electrolytes are also available.
• Wildlife Stingrays, dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, flying fish, cormorant, pelicans, and many other animals are often spotted during our cruises...however, we cannot guarantee sightings. Having said that, we always keep a watchful eye on the water's surface, and we will point out all of our aquatic and aerian friends when we see them.
• Children We are delighted to welcome well-behaved kids over the age of 9.
• Miami & Lauderdale Though we are based in West Palm, with enough advance notice we can organize to offer our charters in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas as well. We aim to be flexible. Just give us a call and share your plans. We'll do what we can.

The Hakuna Matata

Can accommodate up to 49 passengers and with her single level deck and large bar area she has plenty of room for serving food, drinks and socializing.

She is also equipped with a full head that can also be used as a dressing room.

The brand new Motunui

Can also accommodate up to 49 passengers and her single level deck includes an extra large 12′ bar and food area, with a beer kegerator with plenty of room for serving food, drinks and socializing.  She includes a premium bluetooth sound system, adjustable various floor plan configurations (including removable tables) and bench/lounge areas.

Her open deck is nearly entirely protected under cover and is equipped with 2 restrooms on the main deck that can also be used as a dressing room.

Boat safety features:

Our tiki boat cruises between 4-6 mph and has safety rails around the perimeter of the boat. the boat is also equipped with 1 pfd for every passenger, along with all u.s. coast guard requirements. children under the age of 12 are required to wear a life jacket, which we have onboard, or feel free to bring your own. if bringing a pet onboard they must have life jacket., can more than 6 people cruise at the same time, the u.s. coast guard regulations for our tiki boats are 6 people plus crew.  however, we now have multiple boats and can accommodate larger group., what happens if i have 10 people, when we have groups larger than 6 people, we offer “tandem” cruises where our boats can cruise next to each other or anchor beside each other once on the sandbar. each multiple boat cruise will have a 20% gratuity added when booked., what are your cancellation and inclement weather policies, we reserve the right to cancel any cruise, at any time, due to weather, safety, mechanical or behavioral issues. if you tour is canceled, your cruise will be refunded (this excludes behavioral and alcohol-related cancellations). if you need to cancel your cruise, we require a 24-hour notice to receive a full refund., what can the tiki boat be used for, we can pretty much accommodate anything you can imagine. from bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthday parties, weddings & family fun days…you name it and we will try to make it work., should i tip my captain, our captains are highly skilled and work hard to make sure your tiki cruise is as enjoyable as possible. tips are greatly appreciated and 18% – 20% is recommended. venmo, zelle and cash app are accepted, or we can apply to the credit card used to book your cruise., do you provide food and drinks, our boats are byob so please feel free to bring your favorite food or beverage. we will have a large cooler filled with ice and bottled waters onboard. our marina also has a small selection of sodas, beer, seltzers, and snacks available for purchase., does the boat have a restroom, our tiki boats are not equipped with a restroom; therefore, we strongly encourage you to use the restroom at the marina before leaving the dock., do i need i.d. to drink, yes, we do card everyone that is drinking, so make sure you have a valid i.d..

Palm Beach is known for great fishing and quick access to the reef as well as access to the Gulf Stream without having to go very far offshore. This allows us to maximize your fishing time as we begin fishing just a few minutes after leaving the dock.

From September thru May experience the thrill of catching Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Cobia, Kingfish, and many different bottom species aboard the Rhino.

We specialize in kite-fishing with live baits which is an exciting way to have a chance at catching all these species. We can also troll dead baits for those who would rather troll and target specific species.

During the winter months, there are many tournaments held right where our boat is docked at the world-famous Sailfish Marina on Singer Island.  Our Marina is home to some very prestigious Sailfish tournaments.

SUNSET DINNER CRUISE

Come an hour before sunset and relax on the boat as we make our way through the Intracoastal waterway with great music playing and a cocktail.

Captain Frank will take your group to the Riverhouse where we can dock the boat for a sit-down dinner, a meal at the tiki bar, or order food and have it delivered and served on the boat. When you are done, we slowly cruise back to the marina under the nighttime stars.

THE BAHAMAS

Extended carribean trips.

From September thru May, we are available for extended trips to the Bahamas. The closest port is West End at Old Bahama Bay which is a short 2 ½ hour trip from our home base in Palm Beach. We stay at the Old Bahama Bay Resort and Marina which has a gorgeous hotel, beach, restaurant, and pool. The locals will bring fresh lobster, conch, stone crab, bread, and cakes to the boat every day.

Excellent fishing for Wahoo, Tuna, Marlin, and Mahi is a short distance away. We also deep drop for all kinds of exotic Snapper and Grouper or go in the shallows to catch a wide variety of bottom-dwelling fish.

There are many islands to visit in the Bahamas including La Caya, Chubb Cay, Harbour Island, the Exumas just to name a few. Each island has its own unique offerings and characteristics. A custom trip will be planned as you discuss with Captain Frank who will offer various options to figure out what your ideal trip would be.
