RBD's Soy Rebelde Tour: Everything we know about the reunion shows

The red ties and blazers have officially come out now that RBD kicked off their reunion tour!

Dulce María, Christian Chávez, Anahí, Christopher von Uckermann and Maite Perroni took the stage on Aug. 25 at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas, to play their first concert in almost 15 years.

“I am so excited, I can’t believe it,” Dulce María told TODAY.com in Spanish over the phone about the upcoming tour. “I’m emotional ... and I’m just as excited as everyone, the Rebelde generation.”

After teasing a possible reunion last year, the Mexican pop group announced their Soy Rebelde Tour (which translates to I'm a Rebel) on. Jan. 19. The group shared the exciting news on their group’s social media, along with the tour dates for their 2023 concerts. RBD is set to visit cities in the U.S., Mexico and Brazil.

Days after the announcement was made, several additional dates were added as fans' excitement grew, including a special final stop in Mexico City at the end of the year.

Additionally on Aug. 17, TODAY.com also exclusively premiered their new song , “Cerquita De Ti.”

The Spanish song is a nostalgia-filled track about being there for one another despite being far away and having a long-lasting connection.

Now that the tour has started and scheduled to go on until the end of 2023, if you're looking for RBD tickets and how to catch them in your city, here's everything you need to know.

When did RBD reunite?

Talks about a reunion tour started when RBD’s music was released on streaming platforms in 2020, followed by a virtual concert in December of that year that included Anahí, Chávez, von Uckermann and Perroni.

Dulce María had just given birth and was unable to join her former bandmates. “Ozark” actor Alfonso Herrera was also an original member of the group, but has previously expressed that he’s focused on his acting career.

“Finally the stars aligned,” Dulce María told TODAY.com, adding that the reunion tour happened at the perfect time. “The five of us got together for this great announcement, these shows that we are going to do. We’ve had the intention of doing this tour for years but it got difficult to get everyone together and our schedules to align.”

Is there a Soy Rebelde Tour setlist?

Dulce María teased nostalgia and good times, telling TODAY.com, “We’re going to give the best versions of ourselves. It’s going to be filled with nostalgia, with the songs that we and our fans grew up listening to.”

Dulce María couldn't wait to sing the group’s biggest hits, including “Rebelde,” “Aún Hay Algo,” “Tras de Mí,” and “Sálvame,” as well as other non-single tracks like “Otro Día Que Va” and “Qué Hay Detrás” and “Tenerte y Quererte.”

Personally, she was excited to sing “No Pares” (“Don’t Stop”), which is a very special song for her. “It’s a song about hope,” she said. “We’ve all been through many difficult moments, and it’s about fighting for what you want and believe and to never stop dreaming.”

What's the history of RBD?

RBD was a creation of the popular Mexican telenovela “Rebelde,” which premiered in 2004. The teen show followed a group of students at the prestigious Elite Way School who formed the musical band RBD. The on-screen group would go on to become one of the best-selling Latin acts, selling over 15 million records worldwide.

During their time together, they released five studio albums. They also earned two Latin Grammy nominations. RBD disbanded in March 2009.

To this day, fans have held out hope that they would one day reunite — especially after Bad Bunny name-dropped them in one of his 2022 songs and did a TikTok singing to “Sálvame” and Anahí responded. Karol G also invited Anahí to sing the hit song at one of her concerts.

Dulce María said “It’s incredible” that a new generation of fans has discovered their music and younger artists have expressed their love for RBD.

“It definitely shocked us and (made it clear) that people wanted us to reunite,” she said, noting that this tour is a one-time event and they don’t have plans to tour for years. “But seeing all (of the fans’ messages), people sharing our music, talking about our telenovela characters, and what our group means to people has been awesome.”

All the love from everyone, she said, only reaffirmed that they owed it to their fans to give them one last wild ride as a thank you.

“It’s confirmed that what we’re doing is important and beyond our current projects and personal lives,” she said. “We just want to share this with our fans one last time.”

La venta de boletos iniciará el 27 de enero a las 10.00 a.m. hora del Centro simultáneamente en los tres países.

La primera fecha de la gira, 25 de agosto, será muy especial, ya que se tendrá lugar en el estadio Sun Bowl de El Paso, Texas, en la frontera entre Estados Unidos y México, un recinto de 40,000 espectadores en el que buscan que se refleje la unión de culturas que simbolizó RBD.

El grupo también se presentará en enormes estadios en ciudades como Dallas, Houston, Chicago y Los Ángeles, así como en recintos icónicos tales como el Madison Square Garden de Nueva York, el Grand Garden Arena de Las Vegas.

A RBD se le deben éxitos como “Rebelde”, “Solo quédate en silencio”, “Sálvame”, “Enséñame”, “Una canción”, “Fuego”, “Ser o parecer”, “Tu amor”, “Qué hay detrás”, “Inalcanzable”, “Tras de mí”, “Y no puedo olvidarte”, “Para olvidarte de mí” o “Adiós”.

Todo comenzó cuando en 2002 vio la luz la telenovela juvenil argentina “Rebelde Way”, creada por Cris Morena. Junto a ella, sus protagonistas formaron el grupo musical Erreway. Tanto la serie, que se emitió en 2003, como el grupo tuvieron bastante éxito internacional, lo que desembocó en que otros países hicieran sus propias versiones y remakes.

Y hubo una de ellas que destacó por encima de los demás y que incluso superó en fama a la serie original. Se trata de la adaptación mexicana “Rebelde”. Tanto la serie como el grupo musical al que dio lugar, “RBD”, cosecharon tal popularidad que se convirtieron en un fenómeno de masas internacional.

La telenovela estaba protagonizada por los actores Anahí Puente, Dulce María Espinosa, Maite Perroni, Christopher von Uckermann, Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera y Christian Chávez, quienes eran a su vez los integrantes de la formación musical.

El grupo RBD consiguió vender más de 15 millones de discos en todo el mundo, y recaudaron más de $72.5 millones en sus giras, con las que visitaron 23 países y 116 ciudades.

Estuvieron en activo de 2004 a 2008, lanzando su último álbum de estudio en 2009. En total, estos fueron sus discos de estudio: “Rebelde” (2004), “Nuestro amor” (2005), “Celestial” (2006), “Rebels” (2006), “Empezar desde cero” (2007), “Para olvidarte de mí” (2009).

Después, en 2020, un concierto virtual, “Ser o parecer”, reunió de nuevo a algunos de los integrantes: Anahí, Christopher, Maite y Christian. Vendieron cerca de 300,000 entradas para el evento. Ese mismo año lanzaron el sencillo “Siempre he estado aquí” y la versión en directo de “Sálvame”.

This Mexican pop group was created in October 2004, while they had separated in 2008. However, in 2020 they had an announcement that generated a lot of excitement among their fans: they returned with 4 of their official members.

Basically, it was about Anahí, Maite Perroni, Cristopher von Uckermann, Cristian Chávez and Dulce María, while Alfonso Herrera has not confirmed his participation. They have received many important nominations and awards, such as the Billboard Latin Music Awards, the Lo Nuestro Awards or the Latin Grammys.

And they recently announced a Latin American tour! Basically, they had already been to this region in their days of popularity. However, through their networks they announced that they would do several shows again in different countries, such as the United States, Brazil, Spain, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.

All About the RBD Reunion

Basically, this would be the band's second reunion , since in 2020 they had announced that they were returning, but they could not do shows due to the pandemic. Regarding expectations, it is speculated that, in reality, all will be part of the tour, despite the fact that some chose not to be "officially" present.

A clear case occurs with Dulce María. She had decided to archive all the photos and videos on her Instagram account. Similarly, she deleted her profile picture. However, it was later confirmed that she would be part of the tour , although it is not yet clear if she will return temporarily or permanently.

In the same way, she seems to be engaged, as she gave clues that she could be present in this announcement. Through a website known as Rebelde World, her followers will be able to sign up for “something special”. This page has a countdown with the date of January 19, 2023, with the phrase “Prepare your tie”, from the tour itself.

About Alfonso Herrera, there are no very clear indications . He is focused on his acting career, which is why he seems to have neither the time nor the inclination to focus on a new tour with his old band. For example, he has been part of the movie "¡Que viva México!", which will soon arrive at Netflix.

About the stadiums they could attend, the reality is that there are still no official confirmations. It is clear that in Mexico there will be a greater number of dates than in the rest of the countries, which could have a single function, since it is in this place where this mythical pop band originated (and began to gain popularity).

In the case of Colombia, they performed in 2005 in 3 different cities: Cali (Pascual Guerrero Stadium), Medellín (Atanasio Girardot Stadium) and Bogotá (Nemesio Camacho El Campín Stadium). In their shows, they managed to have more than 100,000 Colombian attendees, generally of a young age. Now, they will have grown up, so they will surely seek to feel the same emotions as when they were younger. The songs they played? The suspicions and speculations turned out to be true. The band RBD is coming back and preparing big surprises for their loyal fans, who have been following them for years. Dulce María, Anahí, Maite Perroni, Christian Chávez and Christopher Uckermann will return to the stage, with Alfonso Herrera missing from this reunion. The clues that there would be a reunion began a few days ago when the artists deleted all their Instagram posts, including their profile photos. Today, Monday, December 19, they all replaced their profile photos with a band logo, which has their followers more than excited since some of them had been waiting for 14 years for a reunion.

In addition, all the members of RBD invited their fans to subscribe to the site soyrebelde.world where there is a countdown to January 19th, 2023, with the message that says, “Prepare your tie” - making a reference to the telenovela.

Fans of the Mexican band RBD in Puerto Rico, -who grew up in the 2000s with the music and the novel “Rebelde”-, eagerly ask that the group include the island in their new international tour.

On the island, Anahí, Dulce María Espinosa, Maite Perroni, Christopher Uckermann, Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera and Christian Chávez, protagonists of the telenovela “Rebelde” left great marks on the small screen and later when they came for the first time in December 2005 to the island.

The first date of the tour will be on August 25 at the Sun Bowl stadium in El Paso, Texas, on the border between the United States and Mexico, a venue for 40,000 spectators.

The pop band has a dozen hits such as “Rebelde”, “Just stay silent”, “Save me”, “Teach me”, “A song”, “Fire”, “Be or seem”, “Your love”, ” What’s behind it”, “Unreachable”, “Behind me”, “And I can’t forget you”, “To forget about me” or “Goodbye”.

The passage of RBD in Puerto Rico

The first time the group visited the island was in the 2005. In October of this year it was announced that the group would perform for the first time on the island on December 3 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. On this occasion, they held three performances of the “RBD Tour Generación” tour, which were filled to the full in front of an audience that did not hesitate to shout and enjoy the group during all their presentations.

They returned with the “World” tour and performed two shows at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. On the one hand, an audience that perhaps no longer found anything new in the artistic offer of the group or simply, the fact that the novel had already ended. However, the band’s dynamism was not lacking and neither was an enthusiastic response from an audience. The scenario was simpler than on past occasions. The “Empezar de cero” tour was his farewell in Puerto Rico.
