Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that The Big Trip is a Russian animated film for kids, adapted for English-speaking audiences using American actors. It's an adventure in which a misguided stork delivers a baby panda to the wrong house in the wrong neighborhood. A group of kooky animals unite to take the little bundle a long distance to find its rightful parents. On their journey, they encounter lots of cartoon action. A python causes the mayhem. He's a scary adversary: cackling, threatening, and baring his fangs. There are chases, fights, treacherous falls, and the baby panda, as well as his five "godfathers," are in peril. No one is injured or killed. Messages about teamwork, finding courage, and getting along are included in the story. All of the characters are male except for one. Some mild insults (i.e., "tomato-face," "fang-face," "clown") are heard along the way. The movie isn't suitable for younger or sensitive kids who aren't comfortable with real versus pretend violence. So-so Big Nate copycat about animals saving the world.

What's the story.

A peculiar bundle lands near the house of Mic-Mic Bear ( Drake Bell ) in THE BIG TRIP. When the big, brown bear discovers a baby panda and watches a soaring stork disappear in the sky, the awful truth comes to him -- this special delivery is a mistake! The baby panda is adorable, but he cries a lot, and he definitely doesn't belong in Mic-Mic's forest. Oscar ( Pauly Shore ), an annoying hare, appeals to Mic-Mic. He wants to come along on the trip the bear must make to find the baby's rightful home. As the journey begins, the two travelers and the little panda encounter very unusual companions -- a poetic tiger, a very frightened wolf, and a pelican who almost never stops talking. Unfortunately, distance isn't the only problem the well-meaning animals must conquer. They must also face the recurring appearances of a terrifying and powerful python who means them harm.

Is It Any Good?

The story is easy to understand, the characters cute, and the animation is fine; however, the movie is repetitious, uninspired, and its cartoon peril may be a bit too scary for the target audience. The Big Trip makes an earnest attempt to follow its purposefully quirky animal folks on an obstacle-filled journey with a happy ending; and it succeeds, in part. Younger kids (who are okay with cartoon violence) will appreciate the funny characters, but won't get some of the jokes (references to Shakespeare?), nor is there sufficient pace to keep them engaged. And, there's not enough inventiveness, wit, or energy to hold the attention of older ones.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

Families can talk about the scary moments in The Big Trip . Even though it's a cartoon movie, which events might be disturbing for younger kids or more sensitive kids? Why is it importance to understand the impact of violence on kids ? How do the adults in your home determine which movies are suitable for your family?

In this movie, the animals behave like humans ("anthropomorphism"). Why does telling a human story using animals as the characters work so well? How does it make the story both relatable and interesting for you? Find out more about anthropomorphism.

What helped the very frightened wolf find his courage? Have you ever behaved in a courageous way to help someone even when you were scared? How did it make you feel?

The unnamed python is the main antagonist of the 2019 Russian animated film The Big Trip . He is a sneaky Reticulated python who terrorizes the bamboo forests of South China and dreams of eating Baby Panda just to get revenge over his father.

Personality [ ]

The python appears to be a narcissistic, cruel but charismatic snake who thinks that he is smarter than other animals just because he can "briefcake his memory" meaning that he will eat every single animal he deems weak. As well still hidding from the bamboo forest inhabitants to continue his plan.

Biography [ ]

When the sun rises at South China, in the middle of a bamboo forest a baby boar foughts the python and he later says that he will became his meal. But the baby boar is saved by a trio of golden snub-nosed monkeys who distracts her and then runs away into the other side of the forest, passing through a elephant herd before meeting a male adult panda who tolds the python to not get the trio, but he refuses and the python later left saying that he will feel sorry for her if he eats what he wants. While the panda' wife tells him that it's time to work.

Meanwhile, when Mic-Mic the Asian black bear, Oscar the hare, Amur the Siberian tiger, Duke the pelican and Janus the wolf arrived at South China after jumping off the Great Wall just to bring back Baby panda back to his parents. They later stopped at the bamboo forest to sleep, at the same time, the python returns and discovers the baby sleeping in a basket after Mic-Mic had waken up from a nightmare he had. He later discovers that baby was missing, making each other saying that it was their faults for not watching out her until the golden snub-nosed monkeys later warns the gang making a charade that the baby was kidnapped by the python.

On his cave. The python later talks to the baby (who is crying for help and being ready for being cooked in a cauldron) that it's okay to be scared depending on what he is gonna taste, not until he hears Duke and Oscar voice outside the cave and assaults them, unless he hits his head on a rock and falls unconscious. Unfortunately, he later wakes up and starts attacking everyone, Janus talks to the ghost of his deceased uncle and teaches them to surpass his fear, he later learns his lesson and helps Amur to defeat the python. Mic-Mic later punishes the malicious snake by tying her into a log and then launching into the sky, freeing Baby Panda for good.

What happened towards the python is completely unknown, but given a impression that he falled to somewhere outside the Great Wall. It's possible that he either got stuck on a tree or crashed to death.

Synopsis [ ]

It's time for the gang's yearly vacation, but Hawk refuses to go, claiming the gang's vacations are never fun for him because the others are terrible at vacationing. Hawk only agrees to go if the gang pass his super-intense vacation training course.

One day in the Unikingdom , Hawkodile is seen flexing for Dr. Fox , Richard , and Puppycorn in their living room when Unikitty flies into the room carrying a load of luggage. She drops the luggage on Puppycorn and announces it is time for the quintet's yearly vacation. The group is excited, claiming that each vacation is better than the last and that this would be their best yet. However, Hawkodile shows fear and hesitation for the vacation rather than excitement ("Oh, boy. It's that time already?"). When asked to explain his refusal of the trip, the hawk-crocodile hybrid says the vacations are never fun for him because the others are "terrible at vacationing," with flashbacks of the last three trips showing the bodyguard managing everything and supervising the group himself, making his experience stressful (he sheds a tear at the end of each flashback). The characters continue to negotiate with Hawk. He finally agrees to go, but only if the group completes his "awesomely epic vacation training course," which Unikitty, Dr. Fox, Richard, and Puppycorn agree to.

The first stage of the course involves taking proper selfies; Hawkodile gives the group smartphones with selfie sticks attached. He says this stage is important because if the gang lived the moment in their photographs, they would be "nonexistent." Hawk then sends the friends into the course, where they stop at each photorealistic cardboard scenery to take a selfie. The group is terrible at first, but they soon excel in the activity (except for Richard, who keeps taking photos in front of garbage bins; he still passes anyway).

After the friends complete the first stage, they move to the second, where Hawkodile informs that, due to an incident from a previous vacation where the characters develop foodborne illness from moldy cheese, need to condition their stomachs for suitability to any foreign meal (get "guts of steel"). He does this by excessively force-feeding the group metal. It works temporarily (everyone gets strong abdominal muscles), but the effects revert, and the characters' stomachs balloon to obese proportions.

Unikitty, Dr. Fox, Richard, and Puppycorn, are now overfull and need to urinate (or defecate; the cartoon never shows them drinking). They try informing their condition to Hawk, but it only leads them to the third stage. To find public restrooms in foreign lands and the unpredictability of their closures, the gang needs to learn the "Pee Pee Dance" to hold their waste and make it to another restroom faster. After completing this, the course's final stage ("Physical Endurance") occurs where the previously learned skills are tested as the gang climbs the tallest mountain in their kingdom. The characters use their skills despite Hawkodile pushing obstacles and reaching the mountain's summit, where they all use a single public restroom. Hawkodile congratulates his friends for finishing his training course, but he sees they have all fallen asleep from the intense activities. The ending reveals Hawkodile's course to be a plan to tire the group so they don't go on their yearly vacation.

Description [ ]

Baldi is a 3D modeled CGI character that is a bald human figure with long, skinny fingers, pale skin, red lips, and what seems to be a single strand of hair on his head. He wears a green shirt, blue jeans, and light brown shoes. Even though he has no visible ears, Baldi has an excellent hearing ability.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) [ ]

Day 1 (morning) [ ].

At the start of the first level, Baldi greets the player at his house next to his car and tells them they need to collect all of the supplies so they can be ready for the trip they are going on with him. After collecting 4 of the 9 objects, Baldi will reward the player with a BSODA and tell them how to use it. When all 9 objects have been collected, Baldi will go into his car, and text will appear telling the player to go into the car with him. When they do, the level is completed and the beginning of level 2 (day 1 afternoon), starts.

Day 1 (Afternoon) [ ]

Baldi tells the player at the start that they need to refill his car because it's almost out of gas and that's why he decided to go to Joe's Gas Station, which has a large supply of gas tanks. After refilling baldi's car using gas tanks around the station, he will tell the player to get back in so they can continue on the trip.

  • When Baldi's Waving At The Start Of Level 1, He Partially Waves Again After The First Time, This Is Because Of An Error The Creator Made While Making The Animation
  • This was fixed for baldi's waving animation in the second level and afterward.
  • In the first level, Day 1 Morning, Baldi has a 25% chance of wearing a johnster logo shirt after waving. This was a suggestion.
  • The voice of Baldi in Level 1 was made by JohnsterSpaceProgram, but the voice in Level 2 was ToffeeRecord (until further notice)
