Where Was The Office Filmed?

Tejasvani Datta of Where Was The Office Filmed?

‘ The Office’ is hands down one of the best comedy shows ever made. At least, in my opinion. But if you don’t think so, you probably just haven’t watched it yet. Despite the series airing its last episode back in 2013, it has forever marked its territory in our hearts and is an absolute delight to revisit each time.

The series, made in the form of a mockumentary, centres around the employees of Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, as it captures the bizarre and awkward, but always hilarious, encounters of this group of oddballs . It was received wide acclaim from both viewers and critics alike, winning four Prime-time awards and even a Golden Globe for Steve Carell ‘s performance. ‘The Office’ gave us nine glorious and absolutely wacky seasons that we always have the joy to go back to. And lucky for us, it is available on Amazon Prime.

The series has an unparalleled influence on pop culture, understandably so, because of its upteempth meme potential. One of the most iconic parts of ‘The Office’ has to be its Christmas special episodes, that we got seven of, from its nine seasons. Despite their differences, the dysfunctional Dunder Mifflin employees do know how to throw a Christmas party.

This festive season if you are in a mood to curl up in your bed, with some warm cocoa, and watch your favourite Christmas specials, ‘The Office’ should be at the top of your list. If you ever wondered where do all those parties take place in real life, or if you want to where Scranton Business Park is actually located, you’re at the right place. Here’s everything we know.

The Office Filming Locations

Though ‘The Office’ is set in the fictional Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, Pennsylvania, it was mostly filmed in Los Angeles, California, particularly in the Van Nuys district. But it does use of some footage from Scranton, and makes many references to actual places in the area. This includes the Mall at Steamtown, Poor Richard’s Pub, Lake Wallenpaupack, and even Dwight Schrute’s “Froggy 101” bumper sticker which was taken from local country station WGGY.

Scranton! What?! The Electric city!

Scranton and ‘ The Office ‘ have a unique relationship, maybe even the kind that lasts a lifetime. Such a connection is rare even for shows that are shot on location, but ‘The Office’ achieves this without having done that. Perhaps because the place is, in many ways, a character in the show than merely a setting. It adds to the absurdity and brilliance of the show. The team did an incredible job in portraying real-life in a small town, and this also led to the team forming close ties with local businesses. In fact, it is believed that ‘The Office’ actually revived the tourism economy of this small relatively unknown town.

‘The Office”s opening credits have several footages used from Scranton, including, of course, the iconic “Scranton Welcomes You” sign board. Apparently, midway through the series’ run, the sign had to be moved to the the Mall at Steamtown, which is also regularly referenced in the show. The sign was moved because of the disruption it was causing on the road as people kept stopping to take their pictures with it.

Other locations used in the opening credit include Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Company Tower, the landmark Scranton building. Perhaps the closest we will get to a real Dunder Mifflin in Scranton. South Washington Avenue and Mulberry Street in downtown Scranton were also filmed and used for the opening credits of the show. On the other hand, several other Scranton landmarks feature over the seasons, especially in Season 3’s iconic “Lazy Scranton” music video that includes Anthracite Heritage Museum, Montage Mountain among other places.

Los Angeles, California

the office business trip filming location

All interior scenes in the Dunder Mifflin office were filmed on a soundstage at Chandler Valley Studios, located in 13927 Saticoy Street, Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California. Along with this, building exteriors are filmed in front of the eastern building of the studio. The building is also used for interior scenes of the characters looking through office windows towards the parking lot.

Along with Chandler Valley Studios several other locations in California are used in the filming of ‘The Office’ substituting for the real-life locations in Scranton. One such location is that of Pickwick’s Pub in Woodland Hills, California which is used in several scenes from the show, but is actually the setting for Scranton’s Poor Richard Pub. Similarly, the Westfield Fashion Square Mall’s interiors are used as the Mall in Steamtown in Season. The Chili’s restaurant from the premiere of the second season of ‘The Office’ was actually filmed at the former Black Angus Steakhouse, whose exteriors as well as interiors were recreated for the episode.

Michael Scott’s home in ‘The Office’ is in real life located in  7303 Bonnie Place Reseda. Phyllis’ wedding in the show was filmed in the First Christian Church of North Hollywood. Dwight and Jan’s secret meeting in Season 3, took place at Paty’ Restaurant in Toluca Lake. Lake Scranton in Season 4 was actually filmed at Lake Malibou in Agoura Hills, California. These are just some of the locations used. But it can be noted that nearly all of ‘The Office’ is actually filmed in Los Angeles, California. Though, certain seasons also featured other places like Philadelphia,  Stamford in Connecticut and  New York.

Where Was The Office filmed? All Locations Explained

Image of J.R. Waugh

The Office is one of the most successful sitcoms in the long line of NBC comedies to break into the pop culture zeitgeist as a must-watch series. It’s hilarious, heartfelt, and just the right amount of cringeworthy at times. Despite the show’s humble premise of a regional paper sales team (and later printer company that sells paper) their location might raise some questions. Despite viewers likely knowing where the show is meant to take place, The Office was filmed in several different locations that might surprise the fans.

Where in the United States Was The Office Filmed?

The Office takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but the majority of locations where the series is filmed are in California . The only undeniably Scranton-local shot in any given episode is the video in the opening titles, filmed by John Krasinski.

But there are numerous locations, particularly houses, where the filming had to change locations such as:

  • Scranton Business Park (Location of Dunder Mifflin Scranton): Chandler Valley Center Studios, 13927 Saticoy St, Panorama City
  • The Dundies at Chili’s (Michael’s annual awards show) : ALDI, 14626 Roscoe Blvd., Panorama City

  • Where Dwight appeared in a milkshake prank video: 1701 Colorado Blvd, Los Angeles
  • Dwight’s bachelor party: Tam O’Shanter, 2980 Los Feliz Blvd, Los Angeles

Many of these locations are only featured in one episode, and for barely much time at all. While the Scranton Business Park reasonably appeared in pretty much any episode, moments like the Threat Level Midnight episode featured locations never seen again.

While some are self-explanatory and warrant no further description, there are moments such as the daycare where Jim walks in on the adult owner on the toilet, ruining their shot at getting their daughter in off the bat. Jim didn’t just leave Michael behind at some nearby gas station either in a later episode, but left him stranded with no money or phone, left to wander the city of Scranton until Holly picked up on his trail. Only Michael’s true soulmate, with a bizarre love for SNL skits and a similar mind, would have ever found him.

Some were simply one-off locations filmed for The Office where characters went for any number of reasons, but there are tons of fun stories about each of these and the memories shared by the viewers.

The Office Character Residence Locations

These are where some of the characters lived, and despite these houses all being located in California, you’ll need to try to continue picturing they’re in Pennsylvania and the Erie Tri-State Area. This should go without saying, but be respectful of the properties at these locations if you’re doing some fandom tourism.

The-Office-Locations-Filmed-Meredith-Palmer-House

  • David Wallace’s house: Abraham Denman Estate, 1485 Lomita Dr., Pasadena
  • Michael Scott’s condo: 7303 Bonnie Pl., Reseda
  • Oscar Martinez’s house: 5232 Longridge Ave., Sherman Oaks
  • Jim and Pam Halpert’s house: 13831 Calvert Street, Van Nuys
  • Darryl Philbin’s house: 14152 Emelita Street, Van Nuys
  • Meredith Palmer’s house: 14142 Emelita Street, Van Nuys

These houses and businesses make for a fun-filled adventure with plenty of stops to make for The Office fans seeking out the locations where they were filmed. The series does a good job rendering an otherwise smaller industrial city in Pennsylvania despite being in sunny California. There are many real-world locations in Scranton alluded to in the show, including the actual Steamtown Mall, Cugino’s Family Restaurant, and Cooper’s. We couldn’t decide on where to go, but when we suggested Cooper’s, we were told “no seafood!”

The Office is comfort food for the average viewer, a familiar TV experience reasonably enjoyed on repeat. For fans to get to see the locations, however otherwise mundane, can spark a feeling of joy and relief. Be sure to check out The Office on Peacock if you haven’t already, or Netflix if viewing internationally!

This Is Where The Office Was Actually Filmed

Pam Beesly looking concerned

NBC's hit workplace comedy "The Office" follows the employees of the fictitious paper company Dunder Mifflin. Based on the BBC series of the same name created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the series was adapted for American television by Greg Daniels. The mockumentary comedy show ran for nine seasons (2005-2013) and is currently available for streaming on Peacock.

Although Steve Carell, who played regional manager Michael Scott, was arguably the only recognizable name among the cast when the series premiered, "The Office" launched the careers of others, including Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor), John Krasinski (Jim Halpert), Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute), B.J. Novak (Ryan Howard), Oscar Nuñez (Oscar Martinez), and Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly). The series took the mundanity of working at a lackluster job, raising the ins and outs of paper-pushing to the absurd.

Set in Scranton (located in Lackawanna County), the largest city in northeastern Pennsylvania, the series incorporates local businesses and landmarks into storylines. According to an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette , Daniels chose Scranton because it's located two hours from New York City, making it the ideal location for the regional office of a Manhattan-based company. Also, having the show set in a real place made "The Office" more authentic. However, this is where the show was actually filmed.

The Office is shot in California but includes real-life Scranton locations

According to The Hollywood Reporter , "The Office" was filmed at Chandler Valley Studios in Van Nuys, California. However, the show's opening credits include a montage of shots filmed by Krasinski, who visited Scranton after being cast in the series. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette , one of his stops was the Paper Magic Group, which manufactures greeting cards. The company's office building (featured in the credits) is often mistaken for Dunder Mifflin.

The Lackawanna County Visitor Bureau 's website offers fans of "The Office" a self-guided walking tour map that includes Alfredo's Pizza Cafe, Poor Richard's Pub, Cooper's Seafood House, and other locations immortalized by the show. The guide contains episodes and scenes that literally put these places on the map.

In May 2013, members of the cast and crew descended upon Scranton to participate in The Office Wrap Party (via New York Daily News ). The festivities included a parade, impromptu musical numbers by Fischer, Kate Flannery (Meredith Palmer), Ellie Kemper (Erin Hannon), Wilson, Nuñez, and Brian Baumgartner (Kevin Malone), and a cast party at a nearby stadium. Around 10,000 people were in attendance to wish a fond farewell to the show that shone a spotlight on the city. "After 'The Office' premiered, people knew us," Austin Burke, president of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, said. "That's the biggest thing the show has done, given us name recognition."

Rob on Location

The Office was a mockumentary comedy series that aired on NBC for nine seasons. The pilot aired on March 24, 2005, and the series finale aired on May 16, 2013. Steve Carrell starred as boss Michael Scott until his departure in season seven. The show also featured an ensemble cast who portrayed the various office employees.

The original Office series was produced and filmed in the UK. It ran for two seasons and was a big hit. NBC decided to try and adapt the series for an American audience. They greenlit a short 6-episode season. When it was clear that the show would be a hit, they renewed the show for a second season.

Dunder Mifflin and Scranton Business Park

Starting in season two, production of The Office was based at Chandler Valley Center Studios . The production facility is located in Panorama City, just west of North Hollywood . The studio has 2 soundstages. Stage 1 was home to the permanent sets of the office setting. The building housing Stage 2 became the exterior of the Scranton Business Park, and was featured in most episodes. The exterior and parking lot is instantly recognizable to any fan of the show.

The Office building

Dunder Mifflin – Season One

The first season of The Office was filmed on location at an actual office facility in Los Angeles. The building had an office area and a warehouse that suited what producers were looking for.

During this season, we do see the exteriors of the building as well. Fans who go back and rewatch the first season will notice that the building looks nothing like it does in the rest of the series.

the office business trip filming location

Los Angeles Area Locations

Most episodes were filmed in the studio, however a number of episodes required shooting on location. As the production was based at Chandler Valley Studios in Panorama City, many location shoots also used the greater Los Angeles area.

First Christian Church of North Hollywood

In season three, we see Phyllis marry Bob Vance (Vance Refrigeration). The episode was filmed at the First Christian Church of North Hollywood. This is where you could see Michael pushing Phyllis’s father’s wheelchair down the aisle, and where he prematurely announced them as being married on the altar steps.

You may recognize the church from other shows like Young Sheldon , The Fosters , and 7th Heaven.

Michael’s Condo

Michael buys a condo in season 2, thinking he’s getting a 10 year mortgage. He later finds out it’s 10-years-fixed, 30 total. Michael lives in the condo throughout his time on The Office. We see it numerous times, including fan-favourite episode The Dinner Party. The house is located in a gated community, and can only been seen from the side street, through the gate. The address is 7303 Bonnie Place in Reseda.

The Office - Michael's condo

Jim and Pam’s House

Jim and Pam live in the house that Jim grew up in. He ends up buying the house as a surprise for Pam, and turns the garage into an art studio for her. The house is located at 13831 Calvert Street in Van Nuys.

Fun story: when we visited the house, we had a chat with the next-door neighbour. He told us that he was paid several hundred dollars by the show to allow someone to go into his house and turn on a bedroom light. This was in the episode Broke, when Michael pics up Pam very early in the morning, honking his horn and waking the neighbours.

Jim and Pam's house

Darryl’s House

Darryl’s house is located at 14152 Emelita Street in Van Nuys. We see his house in the episode “The Meeting”. If you’d like to see more, check out my buddy Scott On Tape’s video where he visit’s the house with the actress who plays Darryl’s sister. You can see it here .

The Office - Darryl's house

Meredith’s House

Meredith’s house on The Office is actually right next door to Darryl’s house, at 14142 Emelita Street. Unfortunately the house has been completely demolished, and when I visited, there was a new house being built.

The Office - Meredith's house

Toby’s House

Toby’s house is located at 5752 Calhoun Avenue in Sherman Oaks. It is not seen very often in the series.

The Office - Toby's house

Oscar’s House

Oscar’s house can be found at 5232 Longridge Ave in Van Nuys. This is where Oscar lives with his “roommate” and Dwight catches him skipping work.

The Office - Oscar's house

David Wallace’s First House

David Wallace actually has two houses during the series. The first house was located in Pasadena. When I visited in June 2023, the house had been completely gutted, with only the frame remaining. It was rather shocking to see it in such a state, as it was a nice looking house. If you’d like to see what the house looked like originally, check out Lindsay’s photos and information here .

David Wallace's house in The Office

David Wallace’s Second House

Later in the series, David Wallace seemingly moved to a different house. It was never addressed on the show, but the production team began using a different house in Encino. The large estate is located at 5133 Louise Ave.

I’m not sure what it is about me visiting houses from The Office, but in May 2022, this house was also under heavy renovations. At least this house was moderately recognizable still, unlike David Wallace’s first house.

David Wallace's house

Erin’s Florida House

In season 8, Erin relocates to Florida. The house used is located at 7777 Cherrystone Ave in Panorama City, which is actually really close to the Chandler Valley Studios, where the show filmed. When I visited, the house was undergoing some exterior renovations.

Erin's Florida house

A much derided scene shows Erin outside the house, but Ellie Kemper is clearly standing in front of a green screen. It is rather odd that they chose to do this, especially considering how close the house is to the studio.

Since the house was under repair, I felt it would be appropriate to do a green screen type photo, just like the show did!

Erin's Green Screen Florida house

Jim and Pam’s Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

Just before getting married, we see the rehearsal dinner for Jim and Pam’s wedding. While taking place in Niagara Falls, the show actually used a well known Burbank Restaurant. The Smoke House is located right next to Warner Bros. Studios , and has been around since 1946.

The restaurant has a number of rooms that patrons can dine in, but scenes for The Office were filmed in their banquet room.

The Smoke House

Schrute Farms

While a couple locations were used for Schrute Farms over the years, the main location was at Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch. The Ranch is located in Santa Clarita, and its a private property which is very strict about visitors. Fans can catch a glimpse of some of the Ranch, including some of the backlot, from along Placerita Canyon Road.

the office business trip filming location

New York City Locations

Over the course of the series, The Office filmed several times on location in New York City .

Dunder Mifflin Head Office

Michael Scott visited Dunder Mifflin’s head office a number of times during the series. While the interior scenes were filmed on the show’s soundstages, they used a real office building in midtown Manhattan. The building is located at 1345 6th Avenue of the Americas.

Dunder Mifflin head office

Rockefeller Center

In the third season episode “Valentine’s Day” we see Michael exploring New York, and he stops by Rockefeller Center. He gets distracted thinking he sees Tina Fey, and totally misses Conan O’Brien walk by. This was when he was still filming Late Night with Conan O’Brien at NBC Studios .

the office business trip filming location

Michael’s Favourite New York Pizza Joint

When exploring the city, Michael goes to get a “New York slice” at his favourite pizza joint. Of course, it turns out to be a Sbarro, which is a chain of sub-par pizza shops. This particular Sbarro was located at the corner of 47th Street and 7th Avenue. The pizza outlet was closed several years ago, and the building has been extensively renovated. It is now home to the New York Edition Hotel. As you can see from my pictures, it looks very different. You may not be able to get a slice of Michael Scott’s favourite pizza, but there are lots of food carts to grab a bite to eat.

The Office Sbarro location

Times Square

That episode also features Michael walking around in Times Square, as he finds the Empire State Building too touristy. He explains that the name comes from “the good times you have while you’re in it”.

the office business trip filming location

Niagara Falls

While most of Jim and Pam’s wedding was filmed in the Los Angeles area, the production did briefly visit Niagara Falls to film Jim and Pam on the Maid of the Mist . This famous boat ride brings you up close to the falls, and they supply a poncho to keep you dry.

Niagara Falls

Scranton Locations

While the show was not filmed in Scranton, the show tried to stay true to the geography. Many local place names were mentioned during the show.

The Steamtown Mall

The famous “Scranton Welcomes You” sign featured in the opening credits has been replaced, but the original sign has been on display in the Steamtown Mall . The mall, which was mentioned numerous times on the show, also featured a small The Office gift shop, and Dwight’s Bobble Head could be seen on the elevator. This was several years ago so I can’t confirm if these are still there.

Steamtown Mall

The Penn Paper Tower

Seen in the opening credits, the Penn Paper Tower is a landmark in Scranton. Due to the popularity of The Office, one side of the tower now bears the “Dunder Mifflin” logo on it.

If you haven’t guessed it by now, I am a huge fan of the TV show The Office - as evidenced by this massive guide you’re about to read. My friends and I decided to completely geek out on a trip to Los Angeles and dress up as our favorite The Office characters while we went on a self-guided tour to many of the filming locations in Southern California. I was dressed as “3-hole-punch Jim”, Kara was Dwight and Brianna was Kelly.

The Office show takes places in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but in reality most of the show is filmed in Los Angeles. The most commonly used cities for filming locations is Van Nuys, Panorama City and Studio City - which are commonly known as “The Valley” to LA locals.

It can be tricky to find the exact addresses to the filming locations, but don’t fret because I’ve done all the research for you.

Also, if you listen to the Office Ladies Podcast by Jenna Fischer (who plays Pam Beesly) and Angela Kinsey (who plays Angela Martin), they reveal many of The Office film locations and they provide all kinds of insider info on the show for fans.

Finally, for all The Office fans, you can shop my huge Etsy collection of The Office fan gear including mugs, t-shirts, graphic art and more . Etsy is where my husband purchased my blue Dunder Mifflin coffee mug that you’ll see in the photos in this blog post.

Los Angeles County The Office Film Locations

The dunder mifflin office building & warehouse.

Fun fact for all The Office fans, Season 1 of the show was filmed in a real-life office building in Culver City close to the cross streets La Cienega Blvd & W Jefferson Blvd. After they were picked up for another season, they moved to Chandler Valley Center Studios which is were most of us recognize the exterior of the building.

The office: scranton’s enduring legacy.

Not many television shows can claim a following as large as The Office. Despite airing its final episode on May 16, 2013, the show remains relevant thanks to countless mini clips and videos available online. These snippets have collectively garnered hundreds of millions of views over the years. Most of the filming for The Office took place in Scranton Business Park, a rather ordinary-looking, grey office building that also functions as a real-life office. After shooting the first season in this location, production later moved to Chandler Valley Center Studios in Panorama City, California , where each cubicle was meticulously recreated to resemble the original building. Owing to the popularity of the U.S. adaptation of the sitcom “The Office,” Scranton, Pennsylvania has transformed from a former coal city into a thriving tourist destination, breathing new life into its downtown area.

scranton

While the studio understandably keeps its doors closed to prevent enthusiastic fans from disrupting the work environment, the building remains unchanged from its appearance on The Office. This allows fans to take selfies and photos outside the building whenever they please.

In addition to the primary filming location, some episodes of The Office were shot in various other locations when the storyline called for scenes outside the office building.

Thanks to the popularity of The Office, Scranton has become somewhat of a tourist destination. Over 3,500 visitors have participated in the official “Office” tour of landmarks featured on the show, contributing to the revitalization of the city’s downtown area. The urban center now boasts an array of new restaurants, businesses, and apartments.

Memorable Scranton locations featured on The Office include :

The Office captivated millions of American and international fans for nearly a decade. The sitcom, which maintains a dedicated following to this day, offers a more satirical and mordant take on office life than its British counterpart.

10 Iconic The Office Locations You Can Visit in Real Life

From Scranton Business Park to Alfredo's, these Office locations are still out there, waiting for your selfies.

the office business trip filming location

Over the course of nine seasons,  The Office  piled up lots of memorable, and memorably hilarious moments, and we ended up spending so much time with the Dunder Mifflin gang that we felt like we knew them, and the world they inhabited. Of course, while the series is fictional, much of the world the characters spent time in is very real, so real you can visit.

How to Watch

Watch every episode of The Office on Peacock .

The American version of  The Office  famously takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania, which is of course a real city with its own iconic locations and tourism sites, many of which were ultimately featured on the show. While much of the series proper was filmed in California standing in for Pennsylvania, many of the series' locations outside the Dunder Mifflin office are real  Scranton places that you can still visit today. Throw in a couple of stops at major locations on the West Coast, and you've got a jam-packed Office  tour.

RELATED:  All the Major Characters from  The Office

So, if you're ready to get away from your desk and out into the world of Michael Scott and friends, here are 10 iconic locations from The Office that you can still go visit in real life.

The Office Locations You Can Actually Visit

Pennsylvania paper & supply company - scranton, pa.

The very first thing you see when you tune into an episode of  The Office  is the stately old home of the Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Company , a real company that's still in business in Pennsylvania to this day. Characters never visit it, but the building, with its iconic tower, is an unforgettable piece of  The Office  lore thanks to its place in the opening credits . So, if you want a photo-op, you can head on over, and you might even notice that the tower features some new Dunder Mifflin signage in honor of the show.

Scranton Business Park - Panorama City, CA

The Office  is set in Scranton, but the actual Dunder Mifflin offices were, for production reasons, laid out at a studio in California, where both interiors and exteriors for "Scranton Business Park" were filmed. The building is still in use, so you can't exactly wander around inside, but you can still get a selfie from the street. Just know that the studio –– now known as Quixote Studios' Central Valley location –– looks a little different now than it did while the show was being filmed.

Poor Richard's Pub - Scranton, PA

The favorite watering hole of the Dunder Mifflin crew, Poor Richard's is mentioned and depicted throughout the series, whether it's being used as a hangout spot or the place where Michael's Dunder Mifflin TV ad was screened for the first (and only) time. Like many Scranton locations, it's a real place , and it's still open seven days a week for  Office  fans and regulars alike.

Alfredo's Pizza - Scranton, PA

Just like Poor Richard's, Alfredo's Pizza Cafe is a real restaurant in Scranton, not to be confused with the fictional (and disgusting) Pizza by Alfredo. They're also still open, and still serving pizza as well as pasta, burgers, and a wide variety of other entrees. Just don't order the meatball parm. We hear it's their worst sandwich.

Cooper's Seafood House - Scranton, PA

Completing our trinity of popular Dunder Mifflin eateries, there's Cooper's, a family-owned seafood restaurant that appears in multiple episodes of the series. Celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, this restaurant is still open for you to stuff your face with lobster, Michael Scott-style.

Congregational Church of the Chimes - Sherman Oaks, CA

Every  Office  superfan hopes to visit the site of Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly's legendary wedding, and as fans know, there are actually  two  locations to visit. Jim and Pam were secretly married the first time at Niagara Falls, which is... well, it's Niagara Falls, you can find it. If you're looking for the church where the ceremony, and the famous dance, took place, you'll want to head to the opposite coast. The wedding ceremony was filmed at the Congregational Church of the Chimes in Sherman Oaks, California, specifically in the Church's Staves Chapel, which their website notes has since become a popular wedding destination for  Office  fans from all over the world.

The Marketplace at Steamtown - Scranton, PA

Formerly known as the Steamtown Mall, which is what it's called on the show, the Marketplace is home to several key references in  Office  lore (that time Pam and Phyllis wore the same outfit), as well as the memorable shopping excursion in the episode "Women's Appreciation." Head to Auntie Anne's Pretzels, visit Boscov's to see if you can snag one of Phyllis' looks, and of course, get your picture taken in front of the "Scranton Welcomes You" sign featured in the opening credits.

Lake Scranton - Scranton, PA

In the classic Season 3 episode "Beach Games," Michael takes the whole Scranton branch out for a day of fun and not-so-friendly competition at Lake Scranton, where wills are tested and certain truths finally spill out. In reality, the episode was shot at the Hansen Dam reservoir in California's San Fernando Valley, but you can also visit the real place . While the lake in "Beach Games" was specifically made to look a bit sad, Lake Scranton looks quite beautiful, and boasts a nice walking trail.

Like several other Scranton landmarks, City Hall appears in the opening credits of  The Office , and gets a mention in a couple of episodes throughout the course of the series. These days, though, it's worth visiting for another reason: A Dundie Award presented to the city by NBCUniversal for being the "Best Hometown of  The Office ." If you're looking for photo-ops, a giant Dundie feels like something you shouldn't miss.

Anthracite Heritage Museum - Scranton, PA

The Anthracite Heritage Museum doesn't play a huge role in  The Office , but if you remember the Season 3 episode "The Merger," you definitely remember Michael and Dwight shouting "The Anthracite Museum!" in their "Lazy Scranton" rap video. Do you need a better reason to visit than that?

Is There a Chili's (or Hooters) in Scranton?

We know what every  Office  fan reading this is thinking: If they go to Scranton, they have to stop at Chili's, site of the legendary Dundie Awards from Season 2. Well, we've got some bad news: There  is  no Chili's in Scranton. And before you ask, we know what you're thinking: There's not a Hooters in Scranton either. But hey, that just makes more time for you to check out the local restaurants serving as key locations in  The Office .

Screen Rant

12 actual places you can visit that were shown in the office.

There are a bunch of real locations that The Office fans can visit themselves throughout California. Here are the most prominent.

A big part of  The Office  was that it was based in Scranton, PA. As the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, the location came up frequently in relation to other branches and the corporate offices in New York City. Even the characters talked about Scranton's charm and how it's home. Pam was even unwilling to move to Philadelphia because Scranton was her hometown, Michael gave former CEO Jo Bennett a piece of coal as a goodbye gift because it was good luck in Scranton. Even Toby couldn't resist Scranton after he moved to Costa Rica.

Shockingly, very little was filmed in Scranton. The entire series (give or take a few shots, including the intro) was shot in various locations around Las Angeles. And thanks to some eagle-eyed fans and inside information from The Office Ladies podcast, fans can visit spots the show actually filmed at.

Updated on October 5, 2021, by Lynn Gibbs:  After binging  The Office and hearing so much about Scranton, PA., fans couldn't help but ask, where was The Office actually filmed? The NBC mockumentary was primarily filmed at Chandler Valley Centre Studios, according to its Fandom page, and different parts around Los Angeles. The set's production, however, did a phenomenal job by bringing Scranton to LA by name-dropping real restaurants, shopping malls, and local businesses around Scranton. It's due to the incredible writing that fans were duped by the filming taking place in LA. But if fans find themselves in the Los Angeles area, there are plenty of places they can visit where The Office was filmed.

Have A Michael Scott-Themed Birthday Party

In 'Michael's Birthday,' all Michael wanted was for his co-workers to throw him a birthday party. Unbeknownst to Michael, the office dropped the ball and didn't have anything as extravagant planned as Michael wanted. It was one of the sadder things about Michael . The office eventually went to a nearby ice rink where everyone let loose and skated. Michael, an avid skater and hockey player, had a great time.

For anyone on the West Coast who enjoys skating, they too can skate where  The Office characters filmed at Pickwick Ice Center at 1001 West Riverside Drive, Burbank, California., according to the blog Gennifer Rose .

Grab A Hot Dog Where Michael Got Lost

Before Michael married Holly, he was heartbroken over the fact that they were finally working together again but not in the romantic relationship that he had envisioned. His down-in-the-dumps moment got worse when Jim abandoned him in the gas station parking lot, leaving him no way to get home. Without a wallet or phone, Michael was lost.

He wandered to a nearby hot dog stand where he ordered a hot dog. Sadly, he had no way of paying the man and he was asked to leave. Little did fans know, this hot dog stand is still around. According to the name on the sign from the scene, Larry's Chili Dog can be found at 3122 West Burbank Blvd in Burbank, CA. Fans can still go there today for hot dogs, sandwiches, burgers, and more.

The Face Of Dunder Mifflin: Chandler Valley Center Studios

In  The Office , Dunder Mifflin had its moments of being a great place to work , and the characters note that Dunder Mifflin is located in the Scranton Business Park. It's a grey-looking building with different companies on alternating floors.

In real life, the cast filmed inside Chandler Valley Center Studios in Panorama City, California. The studio keeps the gate closed nowadays due to too many  Office fans trying to get a peek inside and they added a sign to the front of the building. But besides those small details, the building still looks as it did in  The Office . Fans can still park outside the studio and take pictures in front of the gate.

Michael's Condo Is Someone's Home!

Michael was a nervous wreck when he bought his first home, a condo in a beautiful complex. Carol Stills was his realtor and future girlfriend who helped him get the home he dreamed of filling with children. Michael never did fill his condo with children but he did live in it for a while with Jan. Fans got a better view of the condo during a tour in the iconic 'Dinner Party' episode.

RELATED:  10 Behind-The-Scenes Facts About 'Dinner Party'

According to  I Am Not A Stalker , the condo in real life is in a gated community but his condo is visible right off of Wyandotte Street in Reseda, California — not far from NBC Studios. The actual address is 7303 Bonnie Place in Reseda, California.

Visit Where Phyllis & Bob Vance Got Married!

In the third season,  Phyllis and Bob Vance made it official by getting married  in a beautiful yet cringe-worthy affair. Everyone from the office was invited and it was a big episode for not just Phyllis but for the strange love triangle between Jim, Karen, and Pam. Jim and Karen were a new couple and the wedding was one of the first outings as a couple. Pam had to watch them joyfully enjoy themselves while she felt alone.

In the episode, Phyllis got married in a beautiful church while Michael hilariously pushed her father's wheelchair down the aisle beside her. In real life, the church they used was the First Church of North Hollywood, which can be found at  4390 Colfax Avenue Studio City .

Or Stop By Pam & Jim's House!

After Jim and Pam become more serious, Jim admitted to the camera that he bought his parents' house with the intention of setting up roots there with Pam. The only problem was that he did not tell Pam about his plan. She ended up loving the house and adored that Jim went through the trouble of buying her a home. It was one of Jim and Pam's cutest moments.

RELATED:  Jim And Pam’s 10 Cutest Moments On The Office

Pam and Jim fans can feel the same kind of love for the home by seeing the front yard for themselves at 13831 Calvert Street in Van Nuys, California. Fans have said the house still looks the same today as it did in the series, the only part that isn't clearly visible is the garage-turned-art studio that's in the back of the house.

Poor Richards Is Now Pickwick's Pub

Poor Richards was the neighborhood bar that everyone at Dunder Mifflin frequented. It's where they went for Saint Patrick's Day, where Meredith and Pam sang karaoke, where they did "the Scarn.,"... It's a legendary bar in "Scranton" that Meredith made most of her inappropriate decisions .

Funny enough, the producers created Poor Richards themselves. In real life, the bar is called Pickwick's Pub and can be found at 21010 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA., according to  Whimsy Soul .  One fan went inside Pickwick's to see if it resembled the show and inside was a small mirror that said “Poor Richards Pub" as a nod to the show.

They Traveled To A West Coast Mall Instead Of The Steamtown Mall

The Steamtown Mall is a real mall in Scranton and is brought up often throughout the series. It's where Michael tried to be a better boss and took the ladies for Women's Appreciation  Day (while ironically buying them underwear from Victoria's Secret) and it's where Dwight bought the crystal wizard from the shop who wouldn't let him in with beet-soaked hands.

In reality, the cast did not travel to Scranton for these shots of the mall. They went to Westfield Fashion Square Mall in Sherman Oaks instead. Fans will notice the fountain where Michael threw his change into, the food court, and the Victoria's Secret.

You Don't Have To Go To Niagara Falls To See Where Jim & Pam Got Married

Although Phyllis and Bob got married before Jim and Pam , it was Jim and Pam's wedding that fans couldn't wait for. The couple decided to get married in Niagra Falls in hopes that no one would want to travel there. However, everyone decided to go because Michael gave the office off Friday and Monday if they went..

The church in the show was a cute combination of red wood and stone, which was seen when Jim was playing soccer with some kids before he helped Pam with her torn veil. Fans can visit the Congregational Church of the Chimes at 14115 W Magnolia Blvd in Sherman Oaks, CA. However, Jenna Fischer (Pam) and John Krasinski (Jim) did travel to Western New York to get the shot of Niagra Falls for the episode, according to  The Office Ladies  podcast.

Go Rollerblading With Andy, Darryl, And Dwight

In the episode 'Ultimatum,' Andy, Dwight, and Darryl admitted they were all lonely and wanted to meet women. Darryl convinced them to pick up women at the bookstore but when that didn't work out, they went to a neighboring skating rink to go rollerblading.

The three men did not do a good job of meeting women but they did have a fun time rollerblading. Fans of the show can go rollerblading themselves at Skateland in Northridge, CA (18140 Parthenia St.). It's still open and apparently still looks the same, according to Skateland's website.

Hansen Dam Isn't The Beach Fans Expected

'Beach Games' was a big episode for the workers of Dunder Mifflin. Not only did they get to leave the office and head to the beach for the day but they learned that Michael was leaving Scranton for a job at corporate, someone would be promoted within, and Pam was a badass when she walked on fire!  There was a lot to take in.

In the show, the group looked like they were near a beautiful lake but it was actually filmed at a fake dam, Hansen Dam in San Fernando Valley. According to  The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s , the crew chose the dam because it was "the bleakest lake" they could find.

Schrute Farms

It would be a dream for many  Office fans to show up at Schrute Farms and pick their own beets. It's a place where Dwight found solace and financial gain through farming. Even Pam and Jim visited Dwight's farm to prove their friendship. However, the farm doesn't exist as a functioning farm. Thanks to  The Office Ladies podcast, Fischer and Kinsey said that Schrute Farms was filmed on Golden Oak Ranch (Placerita Canyon Road & Delden Road, Newhall, CA.). Golden Oak Ranch is owned and operated by Disney and has been used for many shows and movies. And while it's closed to the public, fans can still do a drive-by to see where the action took place.

Scranton Business Park from the First Season of “The Office”

Dunder Mifflin Season 1 location The Office (1 of 15)

A fellow stalker named Scott recently challenged me to track down the building that was used as both the interior and exterior of Scranton Business Park during the inaugural season of The Office.   I was perplexed at his query as I had no idea that two different Dunder Mifflin locations had been utilized during the show’s run.  While I knew that interior filming had originally taken place inside of a real office space and that a set modeled after it had later been built inside of a soundstage, I always assumed that said office was at Chandler Valley Center Studios (which I blogged about here ) on Saticoy Street in Van Nuys.  I was wrong.

Upon receiving the challenge, I did a Google search for “ The Office filming locations Season 1” and came across a Yahoo! Answers query from an inquiring mind named Nickvet419 who had the very same question that Scott did.  Nickvet419 had provided some screen captures (pictured below) and, sure enough, the building shown was NOT Chandler Valley Center Studios.  Upon further searching, I dug up a 2006 TV Guide blog post written by Jenna Fischer (aka Pam Beesly) in which she stated that the series’ first season – both interiors and exteriors – had been filmed at a real office building in Culver City.  I immediately forwarded the screen captures and Jenna’s post to fellow stalker/ Office aficionado Owen, of the When Write Is Wrong blog , and asked if he had ever done any research on the locale.  His response?  “Nope, I’ve never tried to track down that location.  In fact, I have zero recollection of that.  Are you telling me that the Saticoy Street building we’re all familiar with wasn’t used for exterior scenes during the entire Season 1 run?  I don’t remember that at all.  My memory sucks, but I figured I would have remembered if outdoor scenes suddenly changed from an unidentified building to the Saticoy spot.  All the outdoor scenes I can picture are of Saticoy.  Weird.”  You’re telling me!  How in the heck did I not recognize the fact that two different Dunder Mifflins had appeared on the show?  Thankfully, Owen quickly tracked down the Culver City locale and I ran out to stalk it this past weekend.

ScreenShot1555

In real life, the original exterior of Scranton Business Park was actually Stage 1 and 2 of the Century Studio Corporation, which has since gone out of business due to runaway production .  The building housed both soundstages and second floor office space when it was in operation.  You can see photographs of some of the company’s soundstages (there were nine of them in total) here .

Dunder Mifflin Season 1 location The Office (6 of 15)

For a time, Stage 1 and 2 were being offered for sale , but the property now appears to have been taken off the market.  Several set pieces and backdrops are still located onsite, though, as you can see below.  I am guessing that the location went into foreclosure at some point and is currently in a holding pattern, waiting to be sold by the bank.

Dunder Mifflin Season 1 location The Office (7 of 15)

Sadly, the exterior of the property was altered in recent years, as you can see in the Google Street View image below (and LoopNet listing photo here ) as compared to my current photograph.  While there used to be eight windows running across the second floor of the building, there are now only six.

CenturyStudioCorp

The door to the loading dock located directly beneath the missing windows has also been made taller, which means that a portion of the second floor office space has been removed.  I was absolutely heartbroken upon discovering the change because it is that removed area that I believe was used on The Office .

DunderMifflinExterior2

As you can see below, the building is divided into two sections, each with a soundstage and second-floor office space, separated by a green-gated entrance.  The northern portion comprises Stage 1, while the southern portion comprises Stage 2.

ScreenShot1551

After spending a ridiculous amount of time comparing the blurred views of buildings visible in the background of some Season 1 episodes to Google Street View images of buildings located across the street from Stage 1 and 2, I became convinced that it was the second floor of Stage 1 (the northern section) that was used as the interior of Dunder Mifflin.  (I know, I know – I have way too much time on my hands!)  The discovery was particularly distressing as I was hoping that the office space that appeared on the series was still intact  – and that I could possibly tour it someday.  But that does not appear to be the case.

DunderMifflinExterior4

Stage 1’s offices were only utilized for the first season of  The Office (a total of six episodes), but because the set built for the remainder of the filming was almost an exact replica, the space would have been completely recognizable.

TheOfficeInterior

What a thrill it would have been to see it in person!

DunderMifflinInterior3

Of the set, Jenna Fischer stated in her blog post, “In Season 1 of The Office , we shot on location at a real office building, on the second floor of some old offices in Culver City, California.  For Season 2, we moved to a soundstage, where they re-created the original office location down to the smallest detail.  (Except that they made Michael’s office a little larger.  It was hard to fit the camera crew into the old office to do his interview segments.)  Why move at all?  The No. 1 reason: Now we can control the weather and the amount of light that comes through the windows.  When they were real windows facing the real outside, it was tricky!  If you watch the DVD of Season 1, I bet you can see some subtle differences between our old location and our new stage.  The craziest thing was that for the first few weeks in our new location we would forget we were on a soundstage and get confused trying to leave.  The actual exit doors were all different.  Just imagine if someone rebuilt the interior of your house on a soundstage.  So when you walked out your “front door,” instead of seeing the outside you were still inside a giant warehouse with lights and equipment.  It felt like we were on The Truman Show !”

TheOfficeInterior2

Pictured below are screen captures of Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell) office, the set version of which was made slightly larger than the real life version, as Jenna mentioned.

Michael'sOffice

The change is barely noticeable, though.

Michael's Office 2

The Dunder Mifflin warehouse, where the gang played basketball in the Season 1 episode titled “Basketball,” was actually the soundstage on the bottom floor of Stage 2.  This was easily discernible thanks to the adjacent brick wall that was visible in the episode.

DunderMifflinWarehouse

According to DVD commentary provided by B.J. Novak (aka Ryan Howard), during Season 1 the production team transformed the soundstage located directly below the real life offices used for interior filming into a makeshift production office.  I am guessing that is why the Stage 2 soundstage was employed as the warehouse in “Basketball” – because the Stage 1 soundstage was already being utilized as production space.

ScreenShot1575

I was thrilled to discover that the little green-gated alcove located in between Stage 1 and 2 had appeared in some of the first season’s deleted scenes.  At least that area is still intact.  Now if only I could get in there to see it!

Stalk It: Scranton Business Park from the first season of The Office is located at 3322 La Cienega Place in Culver City .  Chandler Valley Center Studios , the building used during Seasons 2-9 of The Office , can be found at 13927 Saticoy Street in Van Nuys .

I love googeling myself and finding fun stuff like this. I believe I was building a 3d model at the time I made the Inquiry about the original office location. It would have been fun to include the actual building into the 3d modle of the intirior. Nickvet419

This is also the spot where they filmed Hells Kitchen Season 3. Think of all the celebrities that have graced that building alone!

The season 1 Dunder Mifflin office was still partially intact as of a couple years ago at least. The office area has been remodeled and no longer has the large windows for Michael’s office or the conference room. They have also added a few small private offices, one where Pam sat, one where Accounting sat, and some more across the room from Michael’s office and the conference room. The kitchen is mostly unchanged. Here is a link to some photos: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Lm_zPVxlOZBCI98q45iDCAGgsnlNDhFN

Oh my gosh, this is amazing! How did you get the photos?

Pretty sure that’s the same building that the TV show HUNTER was filmed at in the 80’s. Stephen Cannell Productions filmed most of their TV shows in warehouses in Culver City on Higuera, Hayden and LaCienega Pl.

I rewatched the first season and based on the angles shown from the picture of Michael by the window and other various shots, that the office is actually stage 2 . You can see in that particular shot that there is a handicapped parking space and a row of other spaces next to it which are in the center of the lot and couldn’t be seen if they were in stage 1. The window closest to the left is actually the hallway and the second one in is Michael’s office and so on. So, I’m happy the report that the original office is still there!

So is century studio corporation out of business now? Is that building where they shot all the interior shots of the office? I was wondering if I ever went a visited the location if the set would still be intact or the stages would still be there. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, you’re right. I recognize this building. In episode 3 of season, at 12:00, 1 Michael Scott was in his car in front of this building talking to someone with the Lackawana Coal Mine attraction expecting their industrial coal elevator to be a thrilling free fall drop.

I was always wondering if the views out the windows were real or fake. I couldn’t find the answer anywhere online until I found this article. Thank you! I LOVE the office and I’m hoping to go check out some of the locations that are hopefully still somewhat the same to take some pics.

I have wanted to know this location for a while and why they only filmed there for one season. This is one of the coolest websites because I love looking up where movies and shows were filmed. Every movie or show I watch, I have to look up the filming locations. You should check out AdamTheWoo on youtube. He makes videos at random filming locations and abandoned theme parks and stuff like that.

I must say i’m really annoyed. This is, without a doubt, one of the best shows i’ve ever seen. I woke up this morning and went straight to google maps to try and locate the set, eventually I ended up here in this article – while you guys have done great work putting this together, the facts you have stated really sadden me. They should have taken care of the set to allow us fans to visit it in the future..

I can’t tell you how long it took me to find that building using the aerial view of Google Maps. I knew Culver City, but only had the layout of the parking lot and that brick building to go on. I was really pumped the day I found it. I may have too much time on my hands.

My wife and son and I went by the Saticoy location toward the end of the series on a Sunday. He wanted to take a few pictures of the exterior. One of the producers named David Rogers saw us and let us in and turned on the lights and took a ton of pictures of us all around the sets and in the Chandler Studios building where he was editing an episode. Very cool guy to take the time and let us see that iconic set and even act as our photographer:)

I went by Chandler Studios in October of the final season, but no one offered to show me around. I really want to know what the layout of the sound stage was for the show.

Wow I seriously had no idea that they filmed somewhere else for season 1! Really interesting post. It’s making me want to rewatch some of the old classic episodes 🙂

That’s what I’ve been doing the past few nights. 🙂

Where Was ‘The Office’ Filmed?

Image of Natalie Schmondiuk

Running from 2005 to 2013, the American version of The Office became immensely popular during its runtime and remains highly viewed long after its eventual close. Although the show eventually left Netflix last year, it still retains a high viewership and remains well-loved. And fans still get a thrill from seeing some of the iconic places from the show in real life. So, where can you go to be a part of the team?

Where ‘The Office’ was filmed

The fictional paper company within the show, Dunder Mifflin, is located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. But where was the show actually filmed? Is the real-life office actually located in Scranton?

Surprisingly, most of the show was actually filmed in Los Angeles. When the show was picked up for its second season, the office building used for every season thereafter was Central Valley Studios, a studio building located in Panorama City, California. There are many miscellaneous locations for different scenes thereafter that are also dotted around California, such as two fake Chilli’s restaurants, a daycare, a quaint cottage house, and a mall among many others. The vast majority of the show, however, was filmed at Central Valley Studios in California.

The Office’s various filming locations can be visited and photographed, but being that most of them are in California, hardcore fans will likely have to plan their trips out well in advance. Generally speaking, the show’s film locations are all set in stone, so there thankfully isn’t much doubt about where to go. But it should come as no surprise that there likely won’t be a lot of paper at the studios—after all, The Office stopped filming in 2015, but the memories continue to live on.

Most people will mention The Office’s filming location and assume it was in Scranton.

After all, this is what was being stated in the show.

However, this was not the case at all!

Instead, The Office was filmed in Los Angeles and it took place within an office building. This was done to make sure the experience was authentic while remaining in California. The actual location of the shoots was in Van Nuys and then Studio City.

Of course, several other shoot locations in The Office were used depending on the script and what was going on. There were situations when the cast was not “in office” and that is when other locations were used.

Remember those times when they would go to the mall?

Well, the mall was not in Scranton!

It was in Sherman Oaks and is called the Westfield Fashion Square Mall. It is quite the sight for those who remember the episodes where they were shopping around there and creating hilarious moments that are going to be remembered for a long time.

We find it fun to walk around and it still looks the same for the most part.

You can even recreate some of these scenes with your friends and family!

Dunder Mifflin Building

Address: 13927 Saticoy Street (Panorama City)

Let’s be honest, this is the first place that is going to be on your mind, and rightly so.

The Dunder Mifflin Building is iconic.

This is one building you are going to want to check out. The building is called the Chandler Valley Center Studios and it is situated in Panorama City.

You are going to check it out from afar.

You are not going to get to check it out from the inside, but it is still to look at the building from afar. It looks nice and it is going to bring back those fun memories from the past.

Poor Richards Pub

Address: 21010 Ventura Blvd (Woodland Hills)

Yes, Poor Richards Pub was a popular spot for the gang.

It was a spot that was often visited and it is essential to take a look at it for those who want to enjoy those finer nights of The Office when things were a bit loose.

It is common for The Office fans to stop over here for a drink. It is great business for them of course.

The name of the pub is Pickwick’s Pub and it’s quite popular.

They have changed things up now and it does not look the same. However, you are going to enjoy the experience while you are there.

Jim & Pam’s House

Address: 13831 Calvert Street (Van Nuys )

This is one of the ultimate locations people want to check out as The Office fans.

After all, the love story between Jim and Pam is a classic of its own. It is one of those love stories that continues to be talked about as being perfect and natural.

For those who want to get a better insight into this love story, you might want to head over to Calvert Street. This is where you are going to see the set location.

Wedding Church

Address: 4390 Colfax Ave (North Hollywood)

This is one of those spots you are not going to remember unless you were a passionate fan of The Office.

If you are reading this then you are likely a die-hard fan!

So, it’s time to check out the wedding church. This church is where Bob and Phyllis got married. It is known as the First Christian Church of North Hollywood. We like this spot and feel it is great for those who want to stop over and just enjoy the setting.

Wedding Church #2

Address: 14115 W Magnolia Blvd (Sherman Oaks)

Well, it’s always important to get a complete look at Pam and Jim’s love story in The Office.

This includes the beautiful wedding.

If that is what you want to experience then it’s time to head to Sherman Oaks. This is where the First Christian Church is situated and it is ideal for those who loved that part of the show.

You can end up taking photos there and it is a beautiful church that is worth checking out on its own. We find it to be breathtaking.

Oscar’s House

Address: 5232 Longridge Ave (Sherman Oaks)

Oscar’s house is a spot you are going to remember from parts of the show.

It is a unique house and one you are going to want to drive by.

We like this beautiful house because it is unique and has an aesthetically pleasing look to it. This alone makes it a nice place to check out.

Michael’s Condo

Address: 7303 Bonnie Pl (Reseda)

This is a funny place where a few comedic scenes took place that are still remembered to this day. Please note that you are not going to be able to go into the condo.

It’s gated and you are only going to be able to see it from afar.

You can drive by and take a few photos if you like.

Final Thoughts

These are the top places where The Office was shot.

It’s best to visit a few and soak in those memories that you have been holding onto dearly. They are going to come flaring back when you are driving around.

The Office Road Trip

Welcome to Dunder Mifflin Paper Products in Scranton, PA.

  • Featured Trip Guides

Created by aaronkkeen - May 21st 2017

Saddened by life in a post-"Office" world? No need to fret! The magical paper supply company lives on in Scranton, PA. As Pennsylvania’s sixth most populous city, Scranton is truly a vibrant and “electric” city. Literally. It’s no wonder The Office location scouts decided to set the iconic docu-comedy here. Although they were looking for somewhere droll to compete with Slough, in the UK, its British TV sister-city (at least according to the show’s creators), Scranton proved to be much more charming and the location scouts certainly had fun making the city come to life on the show. So, take a tour of Scranton by visiting "The Office" filming locations!

Photo of Lake Wallenpaupack

Lake Wallenpaupack

Lake Wallenpaupack is the infamous lake where Michael took the gang on a “Booze Cruise” in Season 2. In real life, the freshwater lake is the third largest in PA, with 52 miles of shore. Booze and cruise not included!

Photo of Lake Scranton

Lake Scranton

Lake Scranton makes a couple of fun appearances. We first visit the lake in Season 3’s episode “Beach Games", where Michael attempts to find his replacement. Then, again, in Season 4’s “Dunder Miffflin Infinity”, Michael stupidly drives his car into the lake after misunderstanding the directions from his GPS.

Just in case you need a place to stay while exploring the wonderful world of The Office...the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel is great whether you're on a business trip, or if you just want to curl up in a cozy bed and binge-watch a few episodes of the show after your adventure.

Photo of Cooper's Seafood

701 N. Washington Ave, Scranton, PA, US

Cooper's Seafood

Cooper’s Seafood is where Michael takes Holly for an uncomfortable lunch in Season 5’s episode “Business Ethics.” It's a lighthouse/pirate-ship-themed pub with a tiki-inspired patio out back, which makes this an interesting place to eat out, whether or not you have weird feelings about your dining partner.

Photo of Steamtown Mall

300 Lackawanna Ave, Scranton, PA, US

Steamtown Mall

Michael tries to show his appreciation for the women of the office in Season 3’s “Women’s Appreciation” episode. He does this by bringing them to the Steamtown Mall to dish over lunch at the food court...and then to Victoria’s Secret to let them get whatever outfit they want. Classic Michael Scott.

Poor Richard's Pub

Poor Richard’s is like the “Cheers” of “The Office”, except here, nobody knows your name…unless you’re Creed.

Photo of Alfredo's Pizza Cafe

1040 S Washington Ave, Scranton, PA, US

Alfredo's Pizza Cafe

Ah, Alfredo’s Pizza Cafe…NOT to be confused with Pizza by Alfredo! This is the preferred pizza joint of the employees of Dunder Mifflin Scranton. In the episode “Launch Party” in Season 4, Michael accidentally orders pizza from Pizza by Alfredo and ends up kidnapping the pizza boy because he wouldn’t accept his coupons for Alfredo's Pizza Cafe.

Anthracite Heritage Museum

You may remember the Anthracite Heritage Museum from Season 3‘s episode, “The Merger.” This place was featured in the orientation video that Michael and Dwight created. "Scranton! What? The Electric City!"

Photo of Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour

1 Bald Mountain Rd, Scranton, PA, US

Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour

Way back in Season 1, Michael outsourced the office’s healthcare plan to Dwight, who gutted it. So, to make up for the awful new healthcare plan, Michael tried to make reservations at the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour mistakenly thinking it’s a fun thrill ride. It's definitely not a thrill ride, but it's still an interesting tour!

Even though The Office may be gone, it's certainly not forgotten...hopefully it will forever remain in our hearts, and on Netflix...and this road trip through Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Rep. Kim is chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Indo-Pacific Subcommittee and is co-chair of the Congressional Study Group on Korea.
