The Top 30 Things To Do In West Seattle
West Seattle is worth exploring even if you don't live across the bridge, thanks to amazing restaurants, beaches, and more!
Welcome to the Secret Seattle guide to things to do in West Seattle!
Out of the many different areas that make up Seattle, West Seattle has always been the most independent. This peninsula to the west of Seattle is connected to the mainland via the West Seattle Bridge. West Seattleites became accidental islanders, in a sense, when the bridge closed for over two years for essential repairs. The West Seattle Bridge finally reopened in September 2022 and it’s high time you explore all that West Seattle has to offer.
From delicious restaurants and lively bars to shopping and events, West Seattle offers all the same things that greater Seattle area does—plus an incredible sandy beach! You may find that it’s more family-friendly than some Seattle neighborhoods and that there is a more leisurely, community-oriented way of life there. Whether you’re looking for activities to do with your kids or in search of more grown-up fun, there’s something on this list for you. The best part is that most of these West Seattle activities can be enjoyed year-round, and many of them are budget-friendly or even free!

West Seattle Defined
Welcome to west seattle.
When you come to West Seattle, you will immediately see that community values reflect our passion for the environment. Local businesses and residents share the sense of awe and collective responsibility to take care of this beautiful place we call home. Lauded by Sunset Magazine as “a laid-back community, rich in forested parks, a community with its own distinctive character,” West Seattle is all that— and much, much more.
Almost one-fifth of Seattle’s total population resides in West Seattle. The area is home to some of the city’s most beautiful parks (and spectacular views!) and a rich cultural heritage that includes live theater, five-star dining and a thriving arts community. It is an urban gem in a naturally beautiful peninsula setting. West Seattleites are known for being politically astute, environmentally conscious, and unabashedly proud of their community, recognized for its green practices, green buildings, and green businesses. Residents in West Seattle enjoy a growing selection of local eco-friendly services and restaurants that walk the talk!
West Seattle’s Alki community is home to the west coast’s first community wide “Urban Wildlife Habitat” setting a new standard in Puget Sound. Thanks to a city-based organization, Feet First, pedestrian access is available via a peninsula-wide trail system. The system links our resident neighborhoods to business districts and you won’t get lost.
Connecting West Seattle to the rest of the city is the high-level West Seattle Bridge, fully opened in 1984, after long campaigns— and a fortuitous shipping accident—prompted its construction. West Seattle is Seattle’s most desirable neighborhood, and it’s our people who make it so. Whether you come for a day or for a lifetime, we welcome you to West Seattle!
Connecting to the Community
West Seattle is famous for having that “small-town feeling,” which means that residents are involved and active! Residential neighborhoods are varied and distinctive and create the perfect blend here in West Seattle. All offer fine schools, great shopping, green parks and open spaces, easy access to libraries and views of snowcapped mountains and shining waterways that are simply spectacular by any standard.
- Admiral— historic and family oriented
- Alki— our laid-back beach community
- Arbor Heights— away from the hubbub
- Delridge— an ethnically and economically evolving family-oriented neighborhood
- Fauntleroy— the “end of the line” and historic turn-around point for the old trolley system
- High Point— culturally interwoven tight knit community with award-winning community design
- Morgan— an attractive community with comfortable setting for daily activities
- South Park— a historically hardworking community on the banks of the Duwamish
- West Seattle Junction— our urban center and designated as West Seattle’s downtown
- White Center— a melting pot of cultures and businesses
The Business of Day-to-Day Living!
West Seattle has seven distinct business districts that provide a wide array of goods and services.
- Alki – Beachfront restaurants, boutique shopping and outdoor equipment rentals
- Admiral – Historic moviehouse, library, restaurants, shops, banking and groceries
- Duwamish Industrial Area - Home to one of Seattle's largest industrial corridors and pier/public park space
- Fauntleroy – Professional services and restaurants
- Morgan Junction – Dining, shopping, groceries and local pubs
- West Seattle Junction – Boutiques, dining, live theater, banking, professional and medical services, coffee houses, groceries and farmers market
- Westwood Village – National retail center with books, post office, office supplies, clothing, restaurants, massage and dental services
- White Center – Diverse array of dining and professional services that reflect a global and LGTBQ-friendly community
Points of Interest in a few of the most visited neighborhoods include:
ADMIRAL – The Admiral neighborhood lies on the northern bluff of the West Seattle peninsula (accurately titled the Duwamish Peninsula, after the local Indian tribe). It is rich in views and lovely, old homes and maintains a lively restaurant trade plus The Admiral movie theater – a fun, retro experience with nautical décor.
Admiral’s small, thriving commercial district has a good mix of businesses including a choice of large grocery stores. The Hiawatha Community Center and West Seattle Library are located here. Schmitz Park – 53 acres of never-cut forest – is in Admiral.
ALKI – Noted historically as the landing place of the pioneers, Alki is a beachfront community offering unparalleled views of the Seattle skyline, Elliott Bay and Puget Sound.
Alki offers visitors and residents the opportunity for great dining year round. Sports enthusiasts use the Alki Beach Park area for SCUBA diving, rollerblading, cycling, volleyball, and more. Dog walkers delight in parading their pups on Alki. The Alki Bathhouse is a community art studio. The Alki Community Center provides community meeting (and play!) space. The local community council publishes an e-newsletter: The Alki News Beacon .
DELRIDGE – Delridge is as it sounds – a valley and a ridge – extending to the east along the length of the peninsula. In the valley is beautiful Longfellow Creek , lovingly restored to biological health, with a walking trail alongside. Longfellow runs through the 18 hole, championship West Seattle Golf Course . The ridge has great territorial views of West Seattle, the Duwamish River, South Seattle, and the Cascade Mountains.
Delridge is a neighborhood of neighborhoods, encompassing Cottage Grove, Pigeon Point, Puget Ridge and Riverview, to name a few. It is also home to Westwood Village , the largest regional shopping village within the south Seattle Metro area. The Delridge Library is brand new. The Delridge Community Center , and Westcrest Park – which has a four-acre dog run-free area – are in Delridge.
FAUNTLEROY – On the west side of the peninsula, Fauntleroy is a hillside community with fabulous views of Puget Sound and nearby Vashon Island. The Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal is the eastern terminus of a Washington State Ferry line that goes between the islands and West Seattle.
Fauntleroy is home to Lincoln Park , 135 acres of recreational opportunities including Colman Pool – a heated saltwater pool right next to Puget Sound. Fauntleroy Creek’s carefully watched salmon run is a joy to the local community. You might want to check the Fauntleroy Community Association website.
WEST SEATTLE JUNCTION – “The Junction” is where two old streetcar lines once crossed, and is home to a Main Street shopping district that is packed with restaurants and small specialty stores that are destination shops for the rest of the city. Surrounded by single family homes and a fast-growing number of apartments, the Junction is one of West Seattle’s liveliest neighborhoods, located right in the heart of West Seattle.
Built atop a hill, even this shopping area has views of Puget Sound and the Olympics in the distance. A fabulous Farmer’s Market comes to the Junction on Sundays year round. In mid-summer, the West Seattle Junction Merchants Association hosts the West Seattle Street Festival . The Junction has a handsome theatre and art gallery belonging to local arts group ArtsWest .
VIDEO: EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF WEST SEATTLE – West Seattle has its own vibe. We are set apart from the rest of Seattle in a very unique way – and it shows through our community, people, and businesses. Set in the heart of West Seattle is the West Seattle Junction: the center of art and commerce for the incredible people that encompass our neighborhood. Whether you're looking to visit, or for a more permanent change of scenery – look no further than the soulful, vibrant community of West Seattle.

Marination Ma Kai
Marination has two other Seattle locations and its long-standing food truck, but the Alki spot stands out for its panoramic view of downtown and its proximity to the water taxi. Owners Roz Edison and Kamala Saxton fuse Korean and Hawaiian fare for a culinary experience that includes Spam sliders, kalua pork tacos, and kimchi fried rice.

Don’t judge a book by its cover or a wing joint by its ambience. West Wings is one of those generic-from-the-outside restaurants that is 56 percent sports bar, but the wings are something else. Not just spicy, not quite traditional Buffalo joints, they are pepper-y and cumin-y and rich. These aren’t wings you order to soak up easy-drinking IPAs, these are wings you eat in complete silence so you can experience the layers of flavor. There’s also sports on TV here.

Bebop Waffle Shop
I’m in the flower store! I’m in the waffle shop! I’m in the combination flower store and waffle shop! If you’re old enough to get that reference you’re old enough to be charmed by the circa 2000s retro vibe going on at Bebop. There’s pink everywhere, there are silent reading parties and sober events here, it’s a quirky, welcoming space that serves classically crispy waffles with moreish maple butter. Bebop is also one of the few places on either side of the Duwamish Waterway where you can get a full meal for around $10.
13 Places for Amazing Breakfast in Seattle
Driftwood Restaurant
The media, us included, has made a fuss of Driftwood’s hyper-local sourcing and ever-changing, ultra-seasonal menu. It’s the only restaurant where we’ve eaten pawpaw, which is like a cross between a melon and a kiwi, and one of the few places in Seattle that has served squab. But how about their pull-apart rolls? These menu fixtures are warm, soft, light, inviting, and come with lavender herb butter. Order them to start a meal, order them for dessert, just order them.
Even though lauded chef Mike Easton has left to focus on his next restaurant in Eastern Washington (Il Nido is now be in the hands of longtime management ), the destination dining experience in the historic Alki Homestead is still a go-to. Notable attractions are famed pastas and meaty entrees, such as the coveted seared ribeye. For groups, you’ll want to make a reservation at the website, but bar seating is always available on a walk-in basis.

The dream of the ‘90s is alive at Freshy’s. Part coffee shop, part bar, part unexpectedly excellent soup restaurant, this hole-in-the-wall is as cozy and welcoming as your hippest aunt’s living room. The last time we were here, there were two guys at the bar discussing werewolves and vampires in very serious tones. Come in, tune out, log off, and try the soup.

Luna Park Cafe
The temporarily closure of this retro-kitsch diner has thankfully come to an end and you can once more get a “hobo” at Luna Park — that’s your choice of breakfast toppings mixed up with eggs and hash browns. If you’re feeling fancy, you can get an “omelet,” but the hobo is Luna Park Cafe’s contribution to diner cuisine.

West Seattle’s Spanish and Moroccan tapas bar has been a longtime favorite in the neighborhood. The tapas here are both tasty and artful, such as the grilled squid with zucchinis and romesco sauce, lemon chicken, and lamb skewers. Itto’s also offers plenty of vegetarian options.

A Visitor’s Guide to West Seattle
Nestled between the Puget Sound, the Cascade Range and the Olympic Mountains, Seattle offers the best of both worlds – a striking city with iconic landmarks, world-famous attractions and an energetic vibe combined with spectacular beauty, jaw-dropping mountain views and natural attractions.
The ultimate Seattle travel guide is sure to include climbing the steps of the Space Needle , riding the Seattle Monorail , immersing yourself in the pulse of Pike Place Market , getting arty at the Museum of Pop Culture , embarking on a Seattle Walking Tour and visiting the Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room , of course! But you can’t visit Seattle without exploring the hip neighborhoods.
West Seattle is one of Seattle’s most appealing and scenic neighborhoods with an expansive waterfront, laid back beach town vibe, stunning views of the mountains and city, and easy access to downtown Seattle’s top attractions. West Seattle is just a quick and scenic 15-minute trip on the West Seattle water taxi to Pier 50 in downtown Seattle but boasts world-class attractions of its own to explore.
Alki Beach Park
Alki Beach Park is Seattle’s closest beach stretching for two miles from Duwamish Head to the Alki Point Lighthouse. While it’s not the palm-lined white sands of California, it’s a hub of activity with beaches for sunbathing, beach volleyball, calm waters for SUPs and canoeing, kayak eco-tours and tidal pools for fishing and crabbing. All with tranquil views of the Puget Sound and even the Olympic Mountains on a sunny day. Remember to always watch the tides !
The paved Alki Beach Trail follows the shoreline for rollerblading, bike rides, skateboarding and people watching! The path is lined with waterfront eateries and firepits to reserve for evening beach bonfires. The trail ends near the Alki Point Lighthouse , a fully functioning Coast Guard Lighthouse over a century old.
Alki Beach is where the first white settlers landed in Seattle and history buffs can take weekend tours of the lighthouse (Memorial Day to Labor Day) and view Seattle’s Statue of Liberty, a large monolith and plaques along the path commemorating the first settlers to Seattle.
Hamilton Viewpoint Park
Hamilton Viewpoint Park is a tiny park up a steep road from Alki Beach Park. This West Seattle pocket park sits atop Admiral Hill with panoramic views of the Seattle city skyline, Elliott Bay, the Port of Seattle and the Cascade Mountains. This is a spectacular spot to watch the sunset in Seattle, so pack a picnic, bring your camera and keep your coins for the telescope to soak up Seattle’s urban and nature views.
Lincoln Park
Lincoln Park is another West Seattle gem set on a bluff overlooking Puget Sound. This 135 acre heavily wooded park has scenic rocky beaches, a 1 mile beach trail, 5 miles of walking trails, 4 miles of biking trails, a kayak and canoe launch for water activities, picnic pavilions, playgrounds and an outdoor heated saltwater pool and bathhouse.
Schmitz Preserve Park
There’s no need to leave the city to experience the tranquility of an old-growth forest with winding paths, streams, towering trees, birdlife and wildlife. Schmitz Preserve Park is within walking distance from Alki Beach Park with 1.7 miles of quiet hiking trails through a soul-stirring old growth forest, one of the last few remaining in Seattle. The perfect place to reconnect with nature!
Arts & Culture
West Seattle is home to a vibrant community of artists and creatives. Enjoy award-winning theater and comedy at the ArtsWest Playhouse in the Junction or classic revival movies in the vintage Admiral Theater , a beautifully restored historic Seattle landmark with a fascinating history. To discover the best of West Seattle’s diverse arts community, sip and stroll the galleries on the West Seattle Art Walk , held on the second Thursday of each month year-round.
The Georgetown Trailer Park Mall is a must for the artsy! This open-air artisan mall is a quintessential Seattle landmark with a unique collection of vintage trailers, pop-up shops and even a wedding chapel!
Shopping & Dining
The main shopping and dining in West Seattle is waterfront on Alki Avenue, along California and Fauntleroy Avenues and at the West Seattle Junction , the heart of “downtown” and a top Seattle attraction. Aside from the shopping and dining (and super cool retro bowling ) in the Junction, you’ll find everything from classic vinyl shops and cafés and Seattle’s best bakery to vintage book shops and boutiques on the streets of West Seattle.
The West Seattle Farmer’s Market is the perfect place to shop for fresh produce for home-cooked meals or discover the best of Seattle’s thriving foodie scene at the coffee roasteries, bakeries, tap houses and waterfront eateries on Alki Beach.

West Seattle swing bridge shutdown to bring slowdowns, truck detours, free rides
Drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists who use West Seattle’s lower swing bridge must find some other path for nine days, while city contractors move the span’s control tower cables.
The scheduled blockage, which is one phase of a multiyear renovation program , begins at 6 a.m. Saturday, April 20, and ends at 5 a.m. Monday, April 29. Both motor-vehicle lanes and the walk-bike trail will be closed.
The swing bridge, built in 1991, is a major truck route which provides the main access to container ship Terminal 5 west of the waterway, along with local industries and warehouses. So drivers can expect detouring semis on the high-rise bridge.
Historically , about 10,000 vehicles cross the low bridge per day, plus a few hundred people walking and bicycling, who can total 1,000 on warm days. It was a lifeline during the recent 2½-year repair closure of the seven-lane high-rise bridge, which reopened September 2022. Current volumes are still in flux and change drastically based on whether ships are docked on the Duwamish.
The low bridge is structurally sound but moving parts and underwater footings need extensive modernization, which the city has known and planned for years. In addition, the Seattle Department of Transportation took a harder look during the high-bridge closure, then found and repaired early-stage cracks in the low bridge girders, using epoxy and carbon wrap.
During the shutdown, free rides are offered on the West Seattle Water Taxi and King County Metro Transit buses crossing the river. These are funded by a voter-approved 2020 city sales-tax increase that’s available for a variety of transit purposes. To claim free trips, download Metro’s Transit Go app , find the “Rewards” section and enter LOWBRIDGE24.
Workers will relocate the drawspan control wires — which were mounted more than 30 years ago inside the West Seattle high-rise bridge ‘s hollow girders — into a conduit below the Duwamish Waterway, while replacing switches, communications lines and the circuitry that guides the motion of drawspans, a $5 million effort in total.
The old network contains parts that are no longer available, and moving the cables underground eliminates the chance any future work on the high bridge might hinder low-bridge operations, said SDOT spokesperson Ethan Bergerson.
Last year, SDOT replaced the swing bridge’s two massive hydraulic cylinders, which each lift half the drawspan, so they can rotate, allowing ship passage.
Meanwhile, construction is underway on West Marginal Way Southwest, another common detour path. Trucks and general traffic converge upon a five-way intersection, at the western low-bridge approach.
Contractors are removing driveways, allowing for a “quiet zone” that requires less blasting of train horns in grade crossings. Walkways are also being added, apart from the rails. One northbound lane of Marginal has been blocked for months, making a complex area even trickier.

Ex-cop accused in 2 killings, kidnapping of baby fatally shoots self at end of chase, police say
A former Washington state police officer accused of killing his ex-wife and his girlfriend , as well as kidnapping a baby, shot and killed himself at the end of a car chase with police in Oregon, authorities said Tuesday.
Oregon State Patrol troopers on the lookout for suspect Elias Huizar, 39, spotted him driving south on Interstate 5 near Eugene about 2:40 p.m., Oregon State Police Capt. Kyle Kennedy said at an evening news conference.
A pursuit ensued and at one point the suspect lost control of the vehicle he was driving and exchanged gunfire with pursuing troopers, Kennedy said. No injuries were reported, and the chase continued south, he said.
After approaching slow traffic, Huizar hit a stopped vehicle and spun into a median, the captain said. Huizar's car then became immobile and, as troopers "contacted" the vehicle, the suspect shot himself in the head, Kennedy said.
The 1-year-old boy Huizar had allegedly kidnapped was safely taken by troopers, Kennedy said. Authorities did not detail how they believed the child was kidnapped.
No injuries were reported in the second and final crash about 25 miles from the start of the chase, the captain said.
"Today was a worst-case scenario for us — having a murder suspect in the same vehicle as an innocent juvenile," Kennedy said. "That brings everything up another level for us. It’s a zero-sum game for us. We’re thankful for the way it turned out."
Huizar was charged with first-degree murder in Monday’s slaying of Amber Rodriguez, 31, at Wiley Elementary School in West Richland as classes were being let out shortly before 3:30 p.m., Benton County Prosecutor Eric Eisinger said during a Tuesday afternoon news conference.
The charge of murder includes an aggravated circumstance allegation of domestic violence, as well as a firearm enhancement, Eisinger said.
Huizar was also being investigated in the death of a woman whose body was discovered later Monday when authorities searched his home. That victim has not been identified but was described in an Amber Alert from Washington State Patrol as Huizar’s girlfriend.
According to a court document filed against Huizar on Monday, witnesses at Wiley Elementary School said a gunman wearing black clothing and a black hat shot Rodriguez. Eight .40-caliber bullet casings were recovered at the scene. Rodriguez was identified after the killing in part through her school employee ID, the documents said.
The pair’s 9-year-old son witnessed the shooting, according to the court filing. The former husband and wife have two children together, according to court documents.
At the time of the shooting at the school, Huizar was under conditional freedom after being accused of third-degree rape of a child and second-degree rape, Eisinger said. His total bail had been set at $250,000, the prosecutor noted.
According to a separate court filing about Huizar’s alleged rapes, two teens went to police in early February after a 17-year-old girl — whom prosecutors in the filing said identified herself as Huizar's girlfriend — told officers she woke up to Huizar performing oral sex on her 16-year-old friend, who was "passed out" after all three had been drinking alcohol.
Huizar and the 17-year-old “have a child in common,” the filing said. Huizar met her when he was a resource officer at her middle school and got her pregnant when she was 15 years old, court records said.
The teen took the baby and drove off with her 16-year-old friend after February's alleged incident, before flagging down police, the court filing said.
Washington State Patrol on Monday had issued an Amber Alert for the 1-year-old. The state patrol had said Huizar and the boy shared the same last name, but the relationship between them was not immediately clear Tuesday afternoon. It was also not immediately clear whether the child was the same one Huizar had with the 17-year-old.
The alert was extended from Washington to Oregon as well as other places in the west, Eisinger said. The alert also said the women killed were Huizar’s ex-wife and his girlfriend.
Kennedy said Oregon State Police received a request to issue the alert about 10:30 p.m. Monday and put it into effect about an hour later.
The West Richland Police Department said earlier that Huizar was “armed and considered dangerous, and is likely to commit more crimes." Portland police told West Richland authorities that Huizar was seen in the Oregon city overnight, possibly driving a black sedan.
The Yakima Police Department in Washington said Huizar was an officer there from 2013 to 2022.
“He did serve as a school resource officer for a period of time, at a couple schools during his employment. Mr. Huizar resigned in February of 2022, immediately following discipline,” a department spokesperson said.
Shelley Redinger, superintendent of the Richland School District, said Huizar passed background checks and answered no to questions that included whether he had ever resigned from an employer with allegations of misconduct pending or if he’d ever been the subject of a workplace investigation accusing him of misconduct.
Redinger said Huizar’s last day as a district employee was in June 2023.
“We are extremely disheartened. That information about his past was not disclosed to us,” she said. “It is expectation for individuals who apply for employment with the Richland school district to be forthcoming and truthful in their applications.”

Bainbridge Island named one of the top small towns in the West
Bainbridge Island has been named one of the best small towns in the West in USA Today’s 10Best Readers' Choice Awards.
USA Today 10Best, the go-to site for reader-voted and editor-recommended travel guides, solicits nominations from an expert panel to highlight the best small towns across the U.S., then readers vote for their favorites.
Bainbridge Island, at No. 7, was joined by nearby neighbor to the south, Gig Harbor, at No. 6, on the top ten list announced in April.
The island was noted for its small-town feel within proximity of Seattle, and the nomination pointed out several Bainbridge museums and parks as attractions, including the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, KiDiMu children's museum, and the Bloedel Reserve. The community is also well known for its main street, Winslow Way, bustling with small shops and local restaurants just blocks from the ferry terminal to Seattle and a waterfront public park. Popular local events dot the calendar through the year, including the Grand Old Fourth array of festivities for July 4, a weekly farmers market and art walk, and the annual Mochi Tsuki festival that honors the community's Japanese American heritage each winter.
The top choice on the 10Best list for small towns in the West was the popular tourist spot of Seward, Alaska, known as the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park and nearby glaciers and more.
Here's the full list of places that made the top 10:
- Seward, Alaska
- Solvang, California
- Grants, New Mexico
- Cody, Wyoming
- Manitou Springs, Colorado
- Gig Harbor, Washington
- Bainbridge Island, Washington

Arizona Diamondbacks
Seattle Mariners
Brandon pfaadt strikes out career-high 11, diamondbacks beat mariners 3-2.
SEATTLE -- — Brandon Pfaadt had a career-high 11 strikeouts, Ketel Marte broke a tie with an RBI double in the eighth inning, Christian Walker homered and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 on Sunday.
Marte doubled off reliever Trent Thornton (0-1), scoring Kevin Newman from second to help end Arizona’s three-game losing streak.
“It feels great,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. “I’m happy for these guys. They’re just grinding and getting after it and doing everything they can to win baseball games.”
Arizona relievers retired all nine batters they faced. Joe Mantiply (2-1) pitched the seventh for the victory, and Kevin Ginkel picked up his fifth save in seven opportunities.
Former Diamondback Josh Rojas led off the game with a homer for Seattle. It was his sixth career leadoff homer and his second in the three-game series.
Walker tied it with a homer in the second inning, his fifth.
Pfaadt equaled his previous career high of eight strikeouts in the fifth and finished his day by striking out the side in the sixth inning. He gave up up two runs on five hits in six innings and did not walk a batter. He relied heavily on his sweeper, throwing it 38 times out of his 96 pitches.
“We were sweeper heavy in the scouting report, but you never know until you get out there and see how it plays. It was playing today,” Pfaadt said. “We definitely threw more than normal and it just played right.”
Leo Rivas, making his major league debut for Seattle, tripled in the third inning and scored on Julio Rodriguez’s single. Rivas is the fourth player in Mariners history to triple in his first career plate appearance, and the first since Yuniesky Betancourt did it on July 28, 2005, against Cleveland.
The Mariners were poised to score more in the third, loading the bases with no outs. Pfaadt got Ty France to fly out and then Mitch Garver hit into a double play to end the threat, and the Mariners didn’t have another baserunner the rest of the game.
“Unfortunately, today I thought we had them right where we wanted them. We had their starter on the ropes a little bit in the third inning and he was able to wiggle out of it,” Seattle manager Scott Servais said. "It’s frustrating because I thought we were right there. In that game, in those moments early in the game you’ve got to create some separation and we just weren’t able to do that.”
Seattle’s Logan Gilbert also had a start start as he pitched into the seventh, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out a season-high nine. The only Diamondback to get a hit off Gilbert in the first six innings was Walker, who followed up his second-inning homer with a double in the fourth.
In the seventh inning, Joc Pederson and Eugenio Suarez had back-to-back doubles to tie it 2 and end Gilbert’s outing.
It was the 16th straight game a Mariners starter allowed two runs or fewer, extending the franchise record.
Diamondbacks LHP Tommy Henry (1-1, 5.55 ERA) will start as Arizona opens a three-game series against the Dodgers at home Monday. Mariners RHP Bryce Miller (3-2, 2.22) will start Monday as Seattle continues a homestand against Atlanta.

Why The Braves Will Cover The Spread/Win
The Braves have Max Fried on the bump, and he is coming off a complete game three-hit shutout against the Miami Marlins. That is his third very good start in a row, so he is throwing the ball like one of the best pitchers in the MLB. In fact, Fried’s average opponent exit velocity, and hard hit percentage are in the 96th, and 95th percentile. Fried generates a lot of weak contact, and that will work to his advantage in this game. If he can continue to pitch as he has been, the Braves will win this game.
Atlanta’s lineup is one of the best in baseball. They lead the MLB in batting average, slugging percentage, wOBA, average exit velocity, and hard hit percentage. They are one of the toughest teams to face in the MLB, and pitchers can easily have a bad game against them. If the Braves continue to hit as they have been, they will win this game.
Why The Mariners Will Cover The Spread/Win
Seattle has Bryce Miller on the mound, and he is having a great season. His WHIP is under 1.00, and his ERA is under 3.00. After giving up four runs in his first start, Miller has allowed three earned runs in his last 23.1 innings. He has been at the top of his game, and that has to continue in this one. As long as Miller continues with his hot hand, the Mariners will have a chance to win this game at home to begin the series.
The Mariners may not have a great batting average, but they do excel in some other categories. Seattle is fourth in hard hit percentage, fifth in average exit velocity, and they do a great job not chasing pitches off the plate. Seattle has to be at their best offensively against the Braves pitching staff, and especially against the Fried. If the Mariners find a way to be good offensively in this game, and make some hard contact against Fried, they are going to win Monday night.
Final Braves-Mariners Prediction & Pick
This is going to be a good game between two great pitchers. Both pitchers are throwing the ball extremely well, and that should continue in this game. When it comes to picking a winner, I am going to go with the better offensive team. Another thing to keep in mind is the Braves have won all five of Fried’s starts this season. For Monday night, the better offensive team is the Braves. I will take the Braves to not only win this game, but cover the spread, as well.
