OK. My family and friends are sailing on Ms. Liberty in 2015. We have booked 3 rooms so far: 6338, 6336, & 6224. One is a balcony room.

Let's us here from you. What would you say was your best room or worst room on Ms. Liberty and why? Thank you for your response!

We havent stayed in the cabins mentioned but they are all directly over the showroom. Most of the comments I have read are not favorable for this location. We were in this general area but on a higher deck and had no problems with the noise.

6336 and 6338 appear to be over the casino.

Deck 7 is usually the best deck because all cabins on this floor have rooms directly above and below. We never stay in a cabin that has a public venue above or below. Of course you could have noisy folks on either side, but that could happen anywhere.

Over the theater (6224) is fine if you don't go to bed until 11:30 or later and you don't take midday naps. They will hear noise from the activities going on in the theater, and that would include some rehearsals during the day. Overnight, it's empty. Your other 2 rooms are over the casino, which might or might not be noisy. I believe there is a band or soloist that plays music on the starboard side of the promenade bar, so it may be possible that the noise from that makes it into those rooms. They typically play later into the night, plus you never know how loud the casino might be at any hour. I wouldn't choose those 2 rooms.

I also recommend moving up to deck 7. All those rooms have staterooms both above & below, which is ideal. There are a few possibilities of balconies for 3 with interiors for 3 across the hall, as long as those rooms are available. The ones at the front of the ship on deck 7 are the same categories as what you have, so there shouldn't be any price difference. The ones more midship would be just 1 category higher. If none are available there, you could go to deck 8, but I wouldn't go any further back than 8288/8289. I believe that those plus all rooms forward of those have rooms above them. Back from those rooms will have lido deck public space above them. You could also try lido or panorama decks.

If you're looking to book more rooms, my personal preference is a porthole room down on deck 2. They are in limited supply though. "Porthole" rooms have 2 beds that can be pushed together, while "Upper/Lower (with portholes) rooms have 2 beds that cannot be pushed together. Depending on my circumstances, I usually go with one of those. If the price difference is very small, I'll upgrade to an oceanview. If those don't work out for me, I would either get a standard interior below the midship dining room on deck 2, or a midship interior room on deck 7.

Great to know. We are booked on Deck 7 on the Liberty next April and I booked it for the reasons that you listed!

We love our Lido deck balcony cabins. EXCEPT on Liberty. We booked 9276. There was a huge air intake vent over our heads. It sounded like a jet engine 24/7. We couldn't enjoy the balcony because of the noise. I implore everyone to stay away from 9276 through 9294 and 9275 through 9293.

See the red vent? Our cabin was directly below that.

Yes , my mistake. I was thinking of 6236 and 6238. Not sure if I would want to be over the casino either though.

Well crap! We are booked in 9280!

Grog5

We stayed in 9206 last year. Our experience was nothing short of awesome!

all the more reason to book on the forward part of the ship :). Did an aft once and had cigarette smoke smells in the hallway, supposedly from where a crew storage/work area was. I've learned from that. :)

I'm looking at the deck plans and 9276 is directly under the vent. You listed 9294, which isn't near a vent. Why do you suggest to stay away from that room? We have it booked (glory, sister ship)and it doesn't look to be a problem. We stayed in 9266 and didn't hear a thing.

I agree the cabins on deck 7 mid-ship are great, deck 6 mid ship cabins are good also but make sure your cabin selection is not above the disco.

EpcotBill

Stay away from 7339. It's directly across from the laundry. We had that room booked but I switched to 7385 a few weeks before the cruise. I'm glad we did.

jimbo5544

We 4 times, not had a bad one. Best is easy 9200 Captains suite.

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app from my IPhone

What was wrong with that location? I am close to there in 1 week on Liberty. Havent heard anyone say they minded being close to the laundry.
It is very loud there. We walked past a few times. The laundry room door seems to stay open all the time. The washers and dryers are extremely loud and when people are in there talking to each other they're practically yelling at each other so they can be heard.
Was this at a time of day when people would be trying to sleep?

One night it was at about 11:00, so yes.

Anyone stay in 1045 on Panaroma deck (inside cabin)?

grooveynurse

We were just on the Freedom (Liberty's sister ship) and stayed in room 6293. It is an interior room with a different layout than normal. These interior cabins have their own hallway. They midship, a short distance from elevators, and directly above the casino. We heard absolutely no casino noise and found the location to be perfect. The layout of the room is a bit different in that there is no "hallway" as you enter, meaning the closets are not directly across from the bathroom. The room had plenty of space and I would highly recommend it to anyone else wishing an interior room. Another note is that there is a deck all the way forward on this level...sometimes referred to as the "secret deck". It was easy to access for a quick trip outside if we wanted fresh air:)

I saw where 1050(Liberty) was reported as very quiet. Another said 1056(Liberty) was relatively quiet. 1011(Liberty) is near gym and they could hear a lot of noise. Sorry I could not find anything. Maybe someone else will chime in.

We stayed in 6269. It was a balcony above the shops, right near the stairs. It was a great cabin! This time we will be in 8387 and 89 I believe. They are right below the buffet seating area. We didn't have much choice booking only 3 weeks in advance and needing two 3 berth rooms beside each other. Hopefully it will be okay!

  • 1 month later...

We are looking at March 2015 and need connecting balcony rooms. This ship is filling up quickly, so the only good options seem to be 8427/8429 or 7427/7431 which are both aft. Does anyone have an opinion about these choices? Would you do aft just to get the connecting rooms or go forward and settle for side by side rooms? Thanks in advance

Has anyone cruised on the Liberty,

We have booked a Presidential Suite, just hope it's worth the extra.

Any info would be great,

Her decor is quite unique, giving the boat an appearance and ambience quite different to most standard boats cruising the Nile. The first thing that strikes you when you enter the reception area is a beautiful classic statue stretching up towards a blue glass dome 2 storeys above. The main circular staircase leading from the lobby is dominated by huge Art Nouveau glass panels depicting the artwork of the 19th century Czech artist Alphonse Mucha, whom I adore! That sold me on the boat right there - lol!

The rest of the boat is tastefully decorated, and the artistic theme repeats itself throughout with Impressionist prints and other classic artworks in evidence.

I found the regular cabins to be excellent, very comfortable and featuring small balconies and full length sliding french doors - not many boats have this!

As for the suites.... wow! The boat has 6 suites, and the two I saw were HUGE! They have two separate rooms, queen size beds and classic furniture. The color scheme is quite rich - dark reds, green and cream... to be honest I felt like I was in a 19th century French boudoir - lol! But the best part... you get a nice big bathroom with a JACUUZZI TUB! :-)

I wasn't able to find much in the way of pictures of the Liberty on the Net, so if you'd like me to send you some of the photos I took I'd be happy to do so. You can reach me at [email protected]

I hope this was helpful!

Best regards,

Karen ( http://www.heartofegypt.com )

Thanks for your GREAT review,

I knew the Liberty was kind of special because of the balconies, not alot of the Nile ships have this, but I now feel I have made the right choice and very much looking forward to cruising down the Nile on a beautiful ship, I will of course email you some photo's of the Liberty, although I'm not going until 4th July (very hot I know)

Thanks again

I know the weather is going to be hot but that's expected but I'v also heard the nile can be smelly and there is alot of flying insects. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I'd be most interested in seeing your photos of the Liberty Please.

[email protected]

It seem the Liberty is suddenly very popular! To Malcolm and the other fine folks who have e-mailed me requesting my photos, I'll be happy to forward them to you all in the next couple of days once my schedule clears. In the meantime I found the following information and great pics on the Web... it looks like you folks booked on the Liberty will be following in some famous footsteps! ;-)

To Karen and all who added to this thread re M/s Liberty.

I am booked on this boat on 12 December 2005.

When I booked I stipulated twin beds because I am accompanied by my 31 year old son.

This is a celebration of my 70th birthday.

However I cannot get any sense out of the tour operator who just says that all cabins are twins!

Karen has told us they are queensized beds.. and there are two rooms!

Karen? are there also two beds?

I am really non plussed about this and as you can imagine rather anxious too.

Since maybe someone will have travelled on the Liberty and knows I am asking the question here!

Silkstone Lady from the UK

Hello Silkstone Lady... I'm sure there's an interesting story behind that name!

Hello again Karen and ty for your prompt reply. I have booked a suite with jacuzzi on the middle deck.

I looked at some more sites which publish pictures on the actual suites..tne Presedential and the Junior.and these show a double bed in both pictures altho as you so rightly said the Presedential one has two rooms and I think I can spy a sofa in the second room. I am wondering if the operator will shift me two twins in from a junior suite..just do a swop for my week perhaps?

I am really quite annoyed because I dont think I should have all this bother.

Now, thinking this morning, the details do not say anything except ROOM: Middle Deck suite..Units 1.... not really very explanatory!

The deck plans can be found on http:/www.travelinstyle.com/egypt/images/liberty_deck jpg. in case anyone else would like the boat layout.

Also I found some wonderful images of the reception you told us about and an account of how the First Lady of Egypt arranged for the Bushes to sail aboard the Liberty as she was the best on the Nile according to the Egyptian Tourist authority!

So we shall be following in illustrious footsteps. There is also an extremely nice wide view of the lounge showing the dance floor.

Yes it is as you told us from the pictures! If I can just get some sense out of Cruise Control I will be happy!

I mean how hard is it to move some beds?( if necessary.)

My son says he will be willing to sleep on the sofa in the second room but I am paying 5* so thats what I expect.

lol..watch this space!

Oh yes.. Silkstone.. it is a small village near Barnsley in West Yorkshire in the UK. I just liked the name. It was a coal mining place ..when we had mines.

But everyone calls me Silk - on and offline!

the sun is struggling out here today but temperatures still mean you need your sweater!

Enjoy your day all who read this

Liberty Nile Cruise

Cruise schedule.

Every Monday from Luxor for 04 nights Every Friday from Aswan for 03 nights

Meals Included

Enjoy the most luxurious Nile cruise with a 19th century ambiance on board  M/S Liberty Nile Cruise  and discover 7000 years of Egyptian civilization on a unique trip down one of the world’s most beautiful and famous rivers. This ship won the 1995 award for the best cruise ship. The honor was presented by the Egyptian Minister of Tourism.

Embarking on a picturesque voyage along the iconic Nile, our journey unfolds with strategic stops designed to immerse travelers in the unparalleled legacy of ancient and modern monuments. These stops become gateways to   Egypt ‘s storied past, featuring prominent landmarks like the High Dam , the Temple of Philae , and the Unfinished Obelisk in the captivating city of Aswan . The historical tapestry continues to weave its tales as we venture into Luxor , where our meticulously planned itinerary includes scheduled visits to the Valley of the Kings , the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, the monumental Colossi of Memnon , and the grandeur of the Karnak Temples Complex and the Temple of Luxor .

Adding another layer of cultural exploration, our esteemed guests will have the opportunity to explore the Temple of Kom Ombo , affectionately known as the Crocodile Temple, and the impeccably preserved Temple of Horus in Edfu .

To further enhance the richness of our guests’ experience, a myriad of optional tours beckons at their discretion. For those cruising the Nile for durations of 03, 04, or 07 nights, there exists ample time to indulge in one or two optional tours alongside the standard historical excursions in Aswan , Luxor , and the intervening regions.

Among the enticing optional tours available are the exhilarating Hot Air Balloon adventure in Luxor , the captivating Sound & Light Show at Karnak or Philae Temple , and a leisurely sail by Felucca or sailing boat around the picturesque islands of Luxor and Aswan . For enthusiasts of hidden Pharaonic gems, options include visits to the secluded wonders of the Valley of the Queens , the majestic Ramsseum, the evocative Temple of Madinet Habu, and the haunting tombs of Deir El Madina in Luxor . Notably, in Aswan , we seamlessly organize visits to the sublime Temples of Abu Simbel , the venerable Temple of Kalabsha, the immersive Nubian Museum, and the enchanting natural setting of the Nubian Village .

By crafting a balanced blend of mandatory historical highlights and optional exploratory ventures, our Nile cruise endeavors to deliver an unforgettable odyssey through the heart of Egypt ‘s incomparable cultural and archaeological heritage. Each stop along the Nile becomes a chapter in the narrative, revealing layers of Egypt ‘s past and present, and creating a mosaic of experiences that resonate with the spirit of discovery. As the Nile gently carries our guests through this historical tapestry, they find themselves immersed in the majesty and mystique of one of the world’s most fascinating civilizations.

ACL American Liberty Itineraries

Acl american liberty review, review of acl american liberty.

The 2024-built MS American Liberty cruise ship is the third in a 12-ship series (Project Blue/aka Coastal Cat) of catamaran-design newbuilds in the ACL-American Cruise Lines fleet . From this (new for ACL) class are the same designed catamarans/sisterships launched two per year - in 2023 ( Eagle /August, Glory /November), 2024 (Liberty/June, Legend /November), 2025 (Patriot/June, Pioneer/November), 2026, 2027, and 2028.

All ACL cruise ships are US-flagged and built by the company-owned Chesapeake Shipbuilding Yard in Salisbury MD (Maryland USA).

The Coastal Cat American Liberty is ACL's 18th vessel overall. It is currently under construction and the boat is planned for delivery and inauguration in 2024 June.

History - construction and ownership

The shipowner American Cruise Lines/ACL is the USA's largest river cruise company (headquarters in Guilford Connecticut) operational since 1991. The company specializes in cruise shipping on the USA's largest navigable inland waterways (rivers and lakes) as well as in cruises along the US East Coast, US West Coast, and Florida.

All ACL vessels feature some of the industry's largest passenger cabins with private step-out balconies, spacious lounges and outdoor deck spaces, gourmet cuisine, top-quality enrichment program with many complimentary land tours and excursions, highly-personalized service by all-American staff and crew.

American Cruise Lines catamaran ships (Project Blue)

In January 2022 ACL announced a plan to grow its fleet to 25+ vessels by adding 12 units of a new class (Project Blue), each with max passenger capacity 109 (plus 50 crew/staff), length 241 ft (74 m), beam/width 56 ft (17 m), 56 staterooms (~85% balconies).

MS American Liberty features an innovative catamaran ship design that guarantees smaller capacity (more comfortable and intimate vacation travel experience) along with stable navigation in both inland waterways (rivers and lakes) as well as close-to-coast/expedition-style cruising.

The catamaran hull features an aft activity platform/Marina (at the stern) from where are launched the ship's kayaks. At the stern is also mounted the tender boat which is used for passenger transportation as well as for cruising close to shore and on shallow inland waterways.

Decks and Cabins

ACL American Liberty has 5 passenger decks (4 are accessible via two midship elevators) and a total of 56 staterooms . The number of cabin categories is 6. Most accommodations are balconied (~85% of all), each fitted with a floor-ceiling sliding door opening onto a private step-out veranda. The boat has 3 single cabins, only 1x handicaped cabin (wheelchair-accessible ADA stateroom designed for passengers with disabilities) and no connecting rooms.

Only Deck 1 cabins (8x in category AAC) are without balconies. The smallest staterooms (including the studios / single-occupancy cabins) are sized 230 ft2 (21 m2). Standard Balcony cabins (AAM and Veranda) are sized 270-280 ft2 (25-26 m2) including the veranda.

The largest accommodations are located forward on Deck 4 - Sky Suite (425 ft2 / 40 m2) and Grand Suite (550 ft2 / 51 m2), with sizes including their terraces. These staterooms (2x Grand and 4x Sky) are two-room suites with separate living room and bedroom (both with direct terrace access, 2x TVs), dining area, marble bathroom (double-sink vanity).

Shipboard facilities and amenities

The ship's interior design is marked by a 4-story Vestibule (glass-walled Atrium positioned midship on all cabin decks) that allows unobstructed portside and starboard views. Despite the boat's dimensions, all indoor and outdoor areas are spacious and very well designed, all with floor-ceiling windows. Deck 5's SkyLight is a transparent glass-roof that allows natural light into the Vestibule/Atrium.

Top-deck (deck 5) is a crew-only area with a SkyLight (glass-roof cover over the Atrium) and a Helideck.

The Sun Deck (Deck 4-aft) is all-teak and fitted with two sunbathing areas (padded sun loungers, low tables), a shaded seating area (hard roof-covered), a walking lane/track, open-air relaxation areas (2-seat tables, padded deckchairs, garden sofas), live plants for decoration. Also aft on Deck 4 are the funnels (4x smokestacks).

ACL Coastal Cat ship (restaurant, bar lounges)

The ship has one Restaurant (complimentary, glass-enclosed Main Dining Room with Galley/kitchen), Games Room/Library, Fitness Center (indoor Gym/Exercise Room), Forward Lounge (Deck 1, indoor, bow-facing/with 270-degree views) with a Bow Terrace (4-seat tables, sofas), Sky Lounge (indoor, Deck 3-aft) with a Stern Terrace served by the Cafe (hard-roof covered outdoor lounge with 4-seat tables, cushioned armchairs and sofas).

Both bar lounges (Forward Lounge and Sky Lounge) feature comfortable furniture (plush sofas, 4-seat round tables, glass-top coffee tables, armchairs), wall-to-wall windows, full Bar service, and direct access to an open-air Terrace (for relaxation and alfresco dining/weather-permitting). Throughout the day, at both venues are served beverages, light snacks, fresh-baked sweets (cookies and pastries). Sky Lounge's glass doors open to the Lookout Cafe (alfresco dining venue) fitted with premium wicker furniture (sofas with low tables and 4-seat tables with armchairs). The lounges' bars serve water, soda, and light snacks throughout the day. The Afternoon Tea service is complimentary and offered between 3:30-4:30 pm. In the evenings, ACL has a complimentary cocktail hour.

The bow-facing (on Deck 2) Forward Lounge is the main lounge with large wall-to-wall windows on all its three sides (bow, portside, starboard). This is the boat's show lounge that also serves ACL's onboard enrichment program (port talks, media presentations, lectures, live entertainment, etc). Here are served warm cookies (starting at 10 am) and complimentary Afternoon Tea with fresh pastries (starting at 3:30 pm). The free-drinks cocktail hour is at 5:30 pm. Root beer and ice cream are offered during the evening shows (solo performances, music tributes, themed music, movie trivia, bingo). Lectures are differently themed (on history, food and wine, literature, etc) and depend on the current cruise itinerary.

ACL Coastal Cat ship (sundecks)

The list of the American Liberty ship's main public venues includes:

  • (Deck 1) AAC Cabins/forward, Vestibule/lobby level, Ship's Office, Powder Room, Laundry Room, Forward Lounge, Dining Room Restaurant, Galley (Kitchen and Storage Rooms), Staff & Crew Cabins/forward, motorized Rescue Boat/aft
  • (Deck 2) Passenger Cabins/AAM and Single Balcony, Bow Terrace/observation area with seating, Fitness Center/aft, The Study/Games Room/aft
  • (Deck 3) Passenger Cabins/Veranda Suites and Single Balcony, Pilothouse/Wheelhouse, Sky Lounge/aft, Lookout Cafe/aft
  • (Deck 4) Passenger Cabins/Grand Suites and Sky Suites, Sun Deck/aft, Funnels/aft

Two Lifts (passenger elevators in the Atrium/midship) and indoor stairs (forward and midship) connect all cabin decks (1 thru 4). Aft outdoor staircases interconnect decks 3-4 (Sky Lounge's Cafe with Sun Deck).
