By exploring and comparing these parking choices, you can make informed decisions based on factors that are important to you like cost and proximity.

On-Site Cruise Parking

On-site cruise parking at Southampton’s cruise terminals offers the ultimate convenience for travellers embarking on their cruise adventure. With parking facilities located directly at the embarkation point, passengers can enjoy a seamless transition from their vehicles to the cruise ship. Here are the key pros and cons of on-site cruise parking:

Pros of Parking at Southampton Cruise Terminal

  • Convenience and Proximity : On-site parking eliminates the need for additional transportation between the parking area and the cruise terminal. Passengers can simply park their vehicles and walk a short distance to check-in.
  • Security and Peace of Mind : On-site cruise parking is often equipped with enhanced security measures, such as surveillance cameras and patrolling personnel, providing passengers with a sense of security for their vehicles throughout their cruise vacation.
  • Easy Access to Belongings : Since the parking area is located nearby, passengers can easily access any forgotten items in their vehicles or make last-minute changes to their luggage without much hassle.

Cons of Parking at Southampton Cruise Terminal

  • Higher Cost : On-site cruise parking tends to be more expensive compared to off-site parking options. Passengers should be prepared to pay a premium for the added convenience.
  • Limited Availability during Peak Season : During busy travel times, on-site parking may reach full capacity quickly. Booking in advance becomes even more critical to secure a parking space.
  • Potential Traffic Congestion : Depending on the cruise schedule and the number of passengers arriving simultaneously, there might be traffic congestion near the cruise terminals, leading to slight delays in reaching the parking area.

While on-site cruise parking offers unparalleled convenience and peace of mind, budget-conscious travellers may weigh the higher cost against the advantages it provides. Ultimately, choosing on-site cruise parking is ideal for those seeking a hassle-free and seamless embarkation experience, willing to invest in the added convenience it offers.

On-Site Cruise Parking Providers

There are only actually a few parking options where your car is left at the port car park you arrive at. We class companies who have you turn up at a port car park, then drive your car to another location as off-site. So true onsite options are as follows;

CPS Parking Southampton

cps cruise parking at southampton

CPS currently operate the in-terminal parking lots for The Ocean, Mayflower and QEII Terminals. Although the cost of CPS was on the higher end of the scale, everything ran smoothly and we would highly recommend them.

AB Parking Southampton

AB are another om-site provider that offers parking within some of Southampton’s cruise terminals. The prices are similar to those offered by CPS, as they are only providers at specific terminals.

AB Parking currently operate the parking for cruises from Southampton City Cruise Terminal, as well as the brand new Horizon Terminal.

Penguin Cruise Parking

Penguin Parking are a little unique, compared to the other on-site options. They have a secure compound located near the City Cruise Terminal, which is where you will park upon arrival and it will remain for the duration of your cruise.

The Cruise terminals are walkable from the Penguin Parking compound. But if you don’t fancy the walk, they do have a free shuttle that will drop you off at the terminal entrance.

Southampton Terminal Parking Process

We were boarding the P&O Britannia at the Ocean Cruise Terminal. This ship can hold almost 4000 passengers, so as you can imagine, it was busy.

Dropping Your Car Off

Upon arrival we were sectioned in to lanes as we awaited vehicle inspection. Once the attendant checks your booking details you can exit the vehicle as they take photographs of its condition.

After completing the check-in process, the parking attendant will provide you with a QR code receipt. Ensure you store this safely as you will need it to collect your vehicle.

Once you have unloaded your luggage and gathered your belongings from the vehicle, you will leave your key on your dashboard. You are then free to make your way to luggage drop off at the terminal and begin your check in.

Collecting Your Car

After you leave the terminal building you will signs for your on-site parking provider. Usually this will be close to where you left your car upon arrival.

The signage will lead you to a cabin, this is where you will pick up your keys. Show the attendant your QR code receipt and they will locate your keys and direct you to your vehicle.

Once you arrive at your vehicle, load up your luggage, and then make sure you have a good look around to make sure there is no damage. You will also want to check your mileage and fuel.

If you have any cause for a dispute, go back to the attendant and raise your concerns immediately. If everything is ok, then simply drive off and begin your journey home.

Off-Site Cruise Parking

For travellers seeking more budget-friendly cruise parking options, off-site parking near Southampton cruise terminals prove to be a popular choice. Off-site parking facilities are generally located a few miles from the terminal, offering shuttle services to transport passengers to and from their vehicles.

Some providers allow you to drop your car at the short stay car parks, but they then drive them to their compound. So let’s explore the key pros and cons of off-site cruise parking:

Pros of Off-Site Parking

  • Cost-Effective : Off-site parking is generally more budget-friendly compared to on-site options, making it an attractive choice for travellers looking to save on parking expenses.
  • Shuttle Services : Off-site parking facilities usually offer complimentary shuttle services to the cruise terminal. This ensures convenient transportation for passengers and their luggage without the need to walk long distances.
  • Ample Availability : Off-site parking often has a larger capacity compared to on-site lots, reducing the risk of reaching full capacity during peak travel seasons.

Cons of Off-Site Parking

  • Transportation Time : Shuttle services may add some travel time to the embarkation process, especially during busy periods. Passengers should factor in this extra time when planning their arrival at the cruise terminal.
  • Security Concerns : While many off-site parking facilities take measures to ensure security, some passengers may have concerns about leaving their vehicles at a location other than the cruise terminal’s designated parking area.
  • Less Accessibility to Vehicles : In the event that passengers need to access items in their vehicles, if they forgot something, they may find it less convenient than if their vehicles were parked on-site.

Off-site cruise parking offers a practical and cost-efficient solution for those who are willing to trade off the added convenience of on-site parking for reduced expenses. If you can live with the downsides, off-site cruise parking proves to be a viable option to kick start their cruise.

Just be sure to check out the reviews of your parking provider, paying particular attention to security and vehicle damage.

Depending on the time of year you are sailing, you can secure this package from as little as £150 for hotel, breakfast and return taxi.

Elizabeth House Hotel

The Elizabeth House Hotel is a popular choice among experienced cruisers, and is located just outside Southampton city centre near the University. On the night of their stay, guests can enjoy free parking.

They have recently expanded their secure on-site car parking facility, as some cruisers like to just book parking at the hotel. The cost per day for cruise parking starts at just £4.75 per day, and goes up to £15 depending on when you cruise.

Hilton Ageas Bowl

As you can probably guess, the Hilton hotel is part of the Ageas Bowl resort complex, which is the home of Hampshire Cricket. It is situated approximately 20 minutes by car from Southampton cruise terminals. While parking is free, long stay parking for cruise guests is available as part of their cruise and park packages.

Ibis Southampton

The Ibis Southampton represents excellent value for the budget conscious, as it is located on West Quay Road very close to Southampton cruise port. Rooms at the Ibis are generally much more affordable than other hotels and, on the morning of the cruise you can take the short walk or 5 minute taxi.

Guest parking is chargeable at £10 per night, but long term cruise parking is a little cheaper at around £7 per day.

Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel is another hotel on the outskirts of Southampton, located around 20 minutes from the cruise docks. But it does boast extensive gardens, and a modern spa with pool.

  • Potential Package Deals : Some hotels may offer package deals that include both the room stay and parking at a discounted rate, providing cost savings compared to booking parking and accommodations separately.

Cons of Hotel Parking

  • Higher Cost : Staying at a hotel with cruise parking can sometimes be more expensive compared to off-site parking options alone. However, the added convenience and amenities may justify the higher cost.
  • Limited Availability : During peak cruise seasons, hotel rooms with cruise parking packages may sell out quickly, much quicker than on-site parking. Early booking is essential to secure a spot.
  • Hotel Location : While some hotels may be within walking distance to the cruise terminal, others may require a short shuttle or taxi ride. If the Hotel doesn’t offer a shuttle, then you will need to factor in the cost of a taxi.

Southampton hotels with cruise parking offer a convenient and hassle-free solution for travellers seeking an easy pre-cruise experience. Early booking is advised to secure the desired hotel and parking package.

Making Hotel and Cruise Parking Affordable

On most occasions hotel parking packages can be added to an existing booking. This means you are free to shop around for the best Southampton cruise hotel rate and then add your parking package. Making this a great option if you are limited on funds.

Best Cruise Parking for Southampton

The best cruise parking option in Southampton varies based on individual preferences and needs. For those seeking ultimate convenience and proximity to the cruise terminal, on-site parking at the cruise terminals themselves may be the top choice.

This option allows passengers to park their vehicles just steps away from the embarkation point, making the check-in process smooth and hassle-free. It’s also worth looking at your cruise package options when you book, as some lines like P&O offer a select fare where you can enjoy extra benefits during your cruise as well as free on-site parking.

However, if budget considerations are a priority, off-site parking facilities with shuttle services offer a cost-effective solution without compromising on security and convenience.

Moreover, for travellers looking for an all-inclusive pre-cruise experience, hotels with cruise parking packages provide the added benefit of a comfortable stay and secured parking throughout the cruise.

Ultimately, the best cruise parking option will depend on your own budget, preferences, and priorities. So with that in mind, we have provided out best picks for each of the options available.

  • CPS parking (on-site)
  • Cruise Azure (off-site)
  • Holiday Inn (Hotel Package)

These are based on our preferences, as much as we prefer on-site, these aren’t always available, especially if we have booked a last minute cruise. This would generally be when we would explore the other options.

Tips for Parking at Southampton

Having been on several cruises, there are several tips and tricks we have picked up along the way. These will be especially handy to new cruisers.

Packing and Organizing Luggage for Convenient Drop-off

Packing and organizing luggage with convenient drop-off in mind is essential to ensure a smooth handover of your vehicle. Here are some helpful tips to optimize your packing for easy drop-off:

  • Arrive Early: Aim to arrive at the cruise terminal early, especially if you anticipate a high volume of traffic or passengers boarding. Early arrival allows ample time for vehicle drop-off and reduces the chances of long queues.
  • Organize Your Luggage : This probably goes without saying, but we’ll cover it anyway. Make sure you luggage is loaded in a way it is quick and easy to remove from your vehicle. Try to avoid too many small bags and pack as much as possible in to one large case per person.
  • Pack Essentials Separately : Consider packing essential items, such as travel documents, medications, and valuables, in a carry-on bag. This way, you’ll have quick access to important items during check-in and boarding. It’s also worth noting that it may be late in the evening by the time your bags arrive, so some extra clothing may also be necessary.
  • Label Your Luggage : You definitely want to do this beforehand. Most cruise lines require you to print labels at home which clearly state your name, cruise ship, and stateroom number. This helps porters and cruise staff direct your bags to the correct location and can be a hassle trying to do it at the port. We recommend using these hard wearing luggage labels.

By following these packing and organization tips, you’ll streamline the drop-off process at the cruise terminal, making the transition from your vehicle to your ship cabin seamless and efficient.

If this is your first time cruising, you may also want take a look at our cruise essentials packing list .

Time Management

Navigating Southampton, the cruise terminal and parking areas can sometimes be a pain, depending on the time of year or number of ships in port. Applying the following tips may just make things run a little smoother.

  • Follow Signage : Upon your approach to Southampton, overhead electrical signs will display your cruise ship and corresponding gate number. Pay close attention to the terminal’s directional signage, which guides you to the appropriate parking area and drop-off zones. Relying on the Sat-Nav took us to the wrong end of the cruise port.
  • Parking Check-in : If you’ve pre-booked on-site parking, have your parking pass displayed on your dashboard. This will allow security staff to quickly identify you as a passenger and direct you to the check in area.
  • Unload Luggage : Following our steps above about luggage will allow for a quick vehicle check in.
  • Carry-On Luggage : As well as our tip about carry-on luggage, we also recommend leaving a pocket free in your bag. Upon arrival at the terminal building, we like to item in here that is likely to trigger the security alarms, such as belts, keys, phones and watches. This is much better and quicker than having to do stand to one side and do it in the queue

By following these tips, you’ll navigate the Southampton cruise terminal and parking areas efficiently, setting the stage for a fantastic journey ahead.

Saying Goodbye to your Car

parking at southampton cruise terminal

Upon pulling up at the port, the parking staff will ask for your details and check you in. While they do this, take a picture of your dash which displays your mileage, furl level and some of the identifiable port in the background.

The staff will then take pictures of your vehicle and we recommend you take some of your own while your family unpack. Make sure you get the front, back and both sides.

You will then be asked to turn off your engine and leave your keys on top of the dashboard, ready for them to move it to your parking space. Yep, you guessed it, get a picture of this as well.

These pictures may come in handy should any disputes arise upon your return.

Picking up your Vehicle

There is only really one tip we can provide other than comparing the vehicle to the pictures you took. Leave the ship as early as possible.

You have two options for disembarkation. Leave your packed luggage out the night before for porters to take to the luggage hall in the terminal, or keep hold of your luggage and carry it of yourself.

Most rooms have to be vacated by 8am at the latest, so we always opt to take our own cases of. That way when disembarkation begins, you can simply walk off the ship, rather than be left hanging around a public area waiting for your deck number to be called before you can leave the ship.

Taking off your luggage also means there are virtually no queues to collect your car, get your shuttle or grab a taxi. In fact, on our last cruise, we left our room and were driving out of the car park within 20 minutes.

Cruise Parking at Southampton FAQs

Can you park at southampton cruise terminal.

Yes cruise terminal parking is available using our recommended parking providers.

How much is parking at Southampton cruise terminal?

Depending on which option you choose, parking can cost anything from £28 for a week with local parking, to £220 for two weeks for on-site parking.

Is on-site parking better than off-site parking?

Yes, in our experience, on-site parking is far superior. But it will cost a little more than off-site parking.

Can I book parking in advance or only on the day of departure?

We always advise people to book in advance, but booking on the day is possible if you want to park in any of the nearby city car parks.

Alternative Transport Options

It’s worth noting that driving and parking aren’t the only options available to get you to your cruise. If you don’t want the stress of driving you can opt for the train, coach or even plane.

Whilst flying can have you in Southampton in under an hour, the extra time needed at the airport and additional security screenings are less than relaxing. Currently you can fly direct to Southampton from the following airports;

  • Leeds Bradford

If you are flying a family in for a cruise, the cost of tickets, seats and luggage can quickly add up, so this isn’t necessarily an affordable option

Looking at the cruise groups on social media, this tends to be the most popular alternative to driving yourself. Coach tickets can be cheap and they generally have convenient pick up and drop off points throughout the UK.

Whilst you don’t have to do the driving, it can still be a long and tiring journey to the port, especially if you are arriving on the day the cruise sets sail.

Let’s face it, UK trains can be somewhat unreliable, with strikes and cancelations happening at any time. Not to mention the fact that there are very few direct routes to Southampton.

Opting to take the train could have you carting you luggage around all day as you swap trains numerous times. Also we would highly recommend you travel the day before your cruise as a minimum.

Being a major city and port within the UK, all of the major rental car companies have a location in Southampton. In some cases, hiring a car locally and dropping it off near the port can be a cost effective way to get to your cruise.

Of course you will need to make two one way reservations, but most rental agents will provide onward travel to a local hotel or the port itself. Click here for competitive hire rates

TESTIMONIALS

I had a booking with you in July this year. Firstly can I just say thank you for everything. It made our trip away even better with the service you provided. I am looking to book for 2 years time. 14th June 2025. Would you be able to do this yet as on your website it only has 6 months' worth of booking.

Many thanks again.

I would like to say how impressed I was with our recent car Parking booking at Southampton, the process was so easy and stress-free with exceptional drivers who were friendly and helpful, great start to our holiday, modern comfortable transport to and from the port, the process was seamless and stress-free! Credit when it's due, well done and thank you for a great service, I would 100% use you guys in the future. Please pass on my thanks and compliments to your drivers who were great guys. Hi there Firstly we would like to thank you for your amazing service we received from everyone at your company, As I’m Disabeled it helped our holiday from the start  to finish to run so smoothly thank you so much 👍

Just sending a very late  'thank you ' for the excellent service we received from your company back in April. We arrived at your car park and a mini bus was there waiting and took us with others to Southampton docks. The same effortless procedure on our return a week later, the drivers and transport were perfect.

We were very impressed with the speed and efficiency of the service having used your company for the first time. Dropping off was swift and no waiting around. On coming back to the cruise terminal we expected a long wait, but the shuttle was waiting for us and we were on our way within 5-10 minutes from phoning to say we'd disembarked. Well worth the money ***** 5 stars. Doreen Lambert

Dear Sir/Madam   This was the first time that we have used Airlynx Parking, having used other parking operators previously,  and happy to say that we were impressed with the experience and service.   Wren Farm was easy to find and located so that the Airlynx Driver drove the last difficult leg into a very busy Southampton.  The transfer vehicle and driver were excellent (Matthew both directions) who could not of been more helpful. Sam at Wren Farm on arrival was also helpful and professional.   Thank you for your excellent service and will be using you again when we have 'saved up' for our next cruise.   Pete & Sue Ralph.

Hello, We would like to say thank you for your help on Monday 3rd September, when my husband wasn't feeling too good on arriving back from our cruise. A big thank you to the gentleman who took us to the petrol station & also offered to drive the car to a hotel, should we have decided to stay the extra day in Southampton, it was very kind of him. Yours sincerely, Tony & Jeanette Mo

Dear Sir/Madam, I recently had occasion to use you parking facilities at Southampton and wanted to congratulate you and your staff. The speed, efficiency and friendliness of your service is outstanding. Thank you so much, A Bishop

Hello I last used your company in September 2016 and was very impressed. I hope you can help again. Many thanks, Kind regards, Mrs E Jill Murray

Triangle Car Park – Southampton Cruise Parking Options

If you are looking for affordable car parking in Southampton, Triangle Car Park may be a good option for you.

This is a car park my family and I have used a number of times – because it is good value for money, the parking spaces are a decent size, and it feels like a safe place where I can leave my car without undue worry. We have never had any issues with this Car Park.

Where is Triangle Car Park?

Triangle Car Park is situated very close to the Ocean Cruise Terminal.

This is often where P&O ships dock, so if you are embarking on a P&O Cruise, this might be a good option.

southampton cruise parking triangle car park

You will see your cruise ship docked, and it is only a couple of minutes walk from the Triangle Car Park to the terminal building itself.

It is worth checking which terminal you’ll be sailing from as some are much further than others.

How to Find the Triangle Car Park

The address is: Town Quay, Southampton, SO14 2HJ

Be aware, their website says that your Sat Nav may have problems leading you to this car park!

It is actually quite easy to find though, it is very close to the Red Funnel Ferry terminal on the sea side of the Town Quay main road. There is a Starbucks Coffee shop very close to it too.

Red Funnel is a ferry company that runs Ferries to the nearby Isle of Wight. Red Funnel actually owns the Triangle car park.

If you follow the signs for Ocean Cruise Terminal, then just keep an eye out for Triangle parking, it is quite well signposted.

This is a Self Parking Car Park

You choose your space and park your car yourself. You then take your keys with you.

Some of the parking spaces, nearest the roadside are slightly bigger, or more wedge-shaped.

This is due to the odd shape of the car park – it is probably just leftover land – you couldn’t really say it was even vaguely triangle shaped!

How Much Does it Cost?

It usually costs around £12 per day per day to park in the Southampton triangle car park. This does vary based on demand so if you are planning to park here it’s always better to pay as far in advance as possible.

Below are the signs where you can pay on arrival if you would prefer.

I would recommend pre-booking so you are guaranteed to have a space.

southampton cruise parking triangle car park

Will My Car Be Safe in the Triangle Car Park?

  • The car park has ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras at the exit and entrance so it can monitor vehicles coming in and out of the car park.
  • The Car Park itself is covered by CCTV
  • The Car Park has a Police-approved “Park Mark Safer Parking Award.” These Car Parks are proven to be safer for vehicles and people. They are checked and passed annually by a Police Assessor.

southampton cruise parking triangle car park

Our family have successfully used this car park a number of times, and have had no issues.

The car park itself is a piece of land, outside, surrounded by high metal fences. It didn’t feel dark or unsafe to me.

Things to Consider before booking the Triangle Car Park

If you are sailing from other cruise terminals, not the Ocean Terminal, it may not be very convenient!

We booked this car park when we cruised on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 – and hadn’t realised we would have a 20-minute walk, dragging our cases to the QEII Cruise Terminal .

You can book parking in Triangle Car Park for other terminals and they offer a package with a taxi included to take you to another terminal at additional cost.

It may, however just be worth booking parking closer to the terminal you are travelling from, if you are not happy to, or are unable to walk.

Would I Book Triangle Car Park again?

I would book Triangle Car Park again without hesitation if I was sailing from the Ocean Terminal.

I would also use it if I was sailing from other terminals – if the price was competitive, and I was prepared to walk – or get a taxi – from there to other cruise terminals.

I have found the price of this Car Park to be quite competitive – compared to some other car parking options available in the area.

Cruise parking and long stay parking

Southampton welcomes many visitors who need cruise parking or long stay parking for other purposes like travelling to the Isle of Wight or staying with friends or relatives.

You can park for longer periods at several barrier controlled multi-storey car parks in Southampton. See below for details about our Bedford Place, Eastgate Street and Grosvenor Square car parks. These charge only £5 per day after the first 24 hour charging period as part of a single stay.

Cruise parking prices

On your return, simply insert your ticket into pay machines as normal and the charge will be calculated automatically.

Travelling onwards to your cruise terminal

Travelling onwards from your chosen car park to the cruise terminal or ferry terminal is straightforward. For example, cruise or ferry passengers who have parked in Eastgate Street, there is a taxi rank on the High Street, two minutes' walk from the car park.

Map showing the location of Eastgate car park and the taxi rank on High street. A dotted line runs West from the car park, along Eastgate Street to High Street, then heading North along High Street before the junction with East Street

Other cruise parking services

Cruise customers are urged to carefully research third-party operators before making a booking for parking on land other than the port. Cruise & Passenger Services provide a park and cruise scheme within the port.

Advice when researching providers

When researching providers, cruise customers should:

  • Carefully read the terms and conditions to ensure that the service offered provides you the safety, security, and assurances you require
  • Pay close attention to any limitations and exclusions, such as liability regarding Fixed Penalty Notices, cancellation, damage, theft, disconnection of trackers/dash cams, towing and impounding
  • Ensure the company you use holds the appropriate insurance should your vehicle be damaged, lost or stolen
  • Ensure you have the address of where your car will be parked while on your cruise. If your car will be parked on private land such as a supermarket, hotel, or residential parking, contact the landowner to ensure the company has their permission to store your car on their land

If you use a 'price comparison' website:

  • Ensure that the companies promoted can be contacted directly for a quote, and that you would be able to contact them directly regarding your booking or any queries
  • Check that the website compares prices to all independent cruise parking companies, and to the prices available with Associated British Ports and Cruise & Passenger Services , who provide parking services in the port itself

Complaints regarding parking providers

If you have a complaint regarding any parking provider, contact them directly in writing in the first instance. If you remain dissatisfied, you can obtain advice from:

  • Citizen’s Advice on 0800 144 8848
  • Consumer Helpline on 0808 223 1133

If you have paid by credit or debit card, you may be able to contact your bank to instigate a charge back.

Included car parking at Southampton

PrincessPete

Hi all, when we booked for our 28 nighter in November 2022 we opted for the included car parking.

Just as a matter of interest at this early stage can anyone advise where the car park will be - is it likely to be close by whatever Terminal we sail from?

Or do we leave the car and keys with someone who then parks away from the Terminal and returns the car when we disembark?

Thanks for any help.

Kind regards. Peter

All Carnival lines use CPS, who operate a valet service from each terminal with your car parked in a port side area and brought backto a nearby car park on return,  So you unload and leave your car and keys at the terminal drop off.

You park in the CPS parking lane directly in front of the terminal. Your car is checked in, and driven away. Whist waiting, or during the check in period, a porter will take your luggage from you. All very simple, although the process can be a bit lengthy early on, as everyone arrives at once!

On return, you will walk to the adjacent carpark, pick your keys up from the kiosk, and drive your car away.

Your car will be parked in an off site carpark during your cruise.

I believe CPS use an on-site secure compound, and car aren’t taken off site.  Has this now changed?

They have alway used an off site carpark in the last 5 years that I have parked with them. I would have thought that the sheer number of cars involved would make using an on site car park a physical impossibility.

Plus of course, you have the issue of cars being in the wrong carpark, if a ship returns to a different terminal to the one used for departure.

I think you are right, it says so on their website

It says that cars are taken to a nearby on site carpark. However this is not the same car park where you collect the car.

So, yes, you are correct, and I am wrong, but in my defence I thought the question was asking if cars were kept in the same car park throughout,  which is not the case.

31 minutes ago, Gettingwarmer said: I think you are right, it says so on their website  https://www.cruiseparking.co.uk/ports/southampton/

Thank you, I knew that used to be the case, and assumed it still was.  I chose to use CPS for the convenience of the car being at the correct terminal when you disembark with no need to shuttle.

Plus I am happier knowing it stays on site, seen too many horror watchdog programmes about people thinking they had secure parking. I wouldn’t use them if they changed to taking my car off site.

I think the one exception is for mini cruises, when the passengers self park and the car remains in that car park.  That was the case about two years ago  anyway, but would never have applied to many cruises of course.

Glad you are happy with your cabin Wowzz, now all we need is for the Princess one to go ahead without too many restrictions.

No pager thank you

Just to add to the other replies:

On the occasion that your departure terminal is different from your arrival terminal at Southampton, your car will be in the correct one upon arrival.  However, most of the time it is the same.

Upon collection, you go to a kiosk, which is well signposted to collect your keys.  You then get a letter and a number which directs you broadly to where your car is parked.  Usually a porter is on hand to take your luggage trolley once you have put your suitcases back in to your car etc.

The difference is 2 night mini cruises where you keep your keys.  In all other instances, as said, with CPS, you hand your keys over at the embarkation terminal after unloading your luggage.  All usually sorted in 10-15 minutes and a very good service in my experience.

Final point is that for cruises which are longer than 10 or so days, usually the value of the car parking voucher is much greater than the OBC offer, unless you are going for a suite etc.  Worth checking before you choose your "select price" option.  P&O have cottoned on and restricted it to cruises of six nights or more.

54 minutes ago, No pager thank you said:   Final point is that for cruises which are longer than 10 or so days, usually the value of the car parking voucher is much greater than the OBC offer, unless you are going for a suite etc.  Worth checking before you choose your "select price" option.  P&O have cottoned on and restricted it to cruises of six nights or more.

That is an important point and one which needs taken into account.  I usually think the free parking on an inside and outside is a no brainer, though beyond that it is worth thinking twice and comparing which other car parking you would use (or transport to the terminal if coach travel is a preference).  We are also thinking that we would get 8.5% off on board spend when we use our own money to pay for things, but with the complimentary OBS, you do not get the Peninsular club discount, so each £100 OBS is only worth £92.50 to us.  All sounds a bit penny pinching and after all it can be very convenient to turn up with your car and also be able to drive straight home from the port when you return, rather than have to pick up your car elsewhere.  On the other hand there is also some advantage in being able to park a car at a hotel the day before the cruise and let a taxi driver take you to the port, so a certain amount of personal choice.

I knew the OP was referring to a cruise we have booked and he has booked the same grade of cabin as us (mid ship deluxe), so I know the OBS alternative is £115pp, which we felt is probably not worth it compared to the parking, especially considering the amount of luggage we will have for four weeks.  We had looked at park and stay deals with hotels or Holiday Extras as we will need a hotel night as well, though that is difficult to gauge at present as I think a lot of those are cheaper for this year than they normally are as some cruises may not be going in 2021.

We have chosen parking, though may change that choice to OBS at a later stage, which I understand you can do up to a certain time before the sailing date, according to what we want to do.

Also on that cruise but new to P&O, no time to think about it, only 9 cabins left when I booked this morning. No choice of cabins left so fingers crossed.

You still have to book your parking with CPS. This has to be done at least 35 days before departure. All being well you should get a zero cost invoice. You print off a page to put on your windscreen showing your ship.  Brian

Look forward to meeting you. Sadly the prices for this cruise were put up at 10am on the day that sales went live for non priority booking people (last Thursday), so you missed out on that as well.  It is possible to pre register for newly launched P&O cruises before they go on sale, either direct with P&O or with an agent (a lot of discussions on these boards about what the differences are in who you register with).

It seems P&O are willing to change cabins for others in the same grade or upgrade you at a later date, should a preferred cabin become available.  Perhaps some time before any will turn up on the booking system, but worth doing a mock booking from time to time.  Balance payment date is around the time other cabins are most likely to appear, which of course is a while away.  I am sure a roll call will be started nearer to cruise date, on the roll call boards, which gives a chance to discuss the cruise and ports of call.  Like me, I suspect that is not uppermost in people's minds at present.

My only concern is that the balcony looks odd. It seems to be enclosed and its not clear whether the screen can be lowered to open up the balcony to the outside world.

The standard balcony cabins on Aurora (decks A and C) are sort of cut into the hull, so have a metal surround at the edges of the balcony and also a smaller glass front at a lower level.  If that glass balcony front is what you mean as "the screen", I do not see how it could be lowered as you would then be highly likely to just fall off the balcony, especially if the ship is rocking a bit.

The deluxe balconies, which are on B deck, are more open with just a larger glass front to a height which is safe.  They are also bigger cabins than the standard balconies.  More expensive though, so basically you get what you pay for, though also depends on availability and prices at the time you book of course.  We are thinking that on days when the weather is not so good, the standard balconies could give a bit more protection from wind, rain etc.

If you find some pictures of the outside of the ship, you will see what I mean, regards the balcony structures.

Just to confirm that with CPS, your car never leaves the dock perimeter.

28 nights is a long cruise and a significant amount of time for a modern car to be left, especially in winter with cold temperatures.

In first lockdown my own car didn't move for about 4 weeks and when I tried to start it nothing.  The battery was at 10v, so no chance until it had been charged.

I would ensure the battery is healthy, but I assume CPS have booster packs to get cars with flat batteries started.

Many modern cars, especially electric cars, use power slowly all the time to run the background systems. It isn't much but if the 12V battery is not in good condition then in winter especially it can run flat if left.

If leaving your car while on a long cruise I would recommend getting the 12V battery fully charged on a good quality charger (like a CTEK) prior to leaving home. Also, if the 12V battery is more than 5 years old you should consider replacement (then fully charging!). They don't last forever (3-5 years is typical) and if it isn't being used daily an old one can run flat.

A 225 mile journey down to Southampton usually tops our battery up to its fullest. We have done two 28 night and one 35 nighter Caribbean round trip in winter,  the last one when the car was 4 yrs old, and never had a problem with the battery.

Excellent! I am sure most people don't have any issues or we would all be complaining about it... still worth checking though especially is the battery is over 5 years old 🙂

1. UTS GROUP

Try changing your search query or try one of the suggestions below!

War in ukraine, free and up-to-date :), transportation to and from moscow sheremetyevo airport, what is the distance from moscow sheremetyevo airport to the centre of moscow.

The distance to the centre of Moscow (Saint Basil’s Cathedral / Red Square) is 34 kilometres from South Terminal Complex and 42 kilometres from North Terminal Complex. Thus, terminals A and B are further away from the city. Travel time between the airport and the city centre is 1 hour and 5 minutes. Unfortunately, it can be busy on the roads and you should take into account a car journey that takes longer.

From SVO Airport to Moscow City centre by Taxi

Public transport

Train aeroexpress to moscow – buy tickets.

The fastest travel option between Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and the centre of Moscow is the train Aeroexpress. You can get stuck in a traffic jam if you travel by car, taxi or bus, that won’t happen if you take the train. The Aeroexpress commutes between Belorussky Station in the city and the railway station at the airport, located on the south side of the airport at Terminal E. An automated people mover (APM) runs between this station and terminals A and B. The Aeroexpress departs every 30 minutes, travel time is 35 minutes.

From metro station Belorusskaya at Belorussky Station, you can travel by metro to the city centre and other parts of Moscow. The journey time from metro station Belorusskaya to metro station Teatralnaya close to Red Square is only 5 minutes.

Aeroexpress tickets The prices are listed below, an Aeroexpress ticket including a ride with the metro, tram or (trolley) bus costs 560 RUB, the price for a subway ticket is 55 RUB. You can buy tickets for the Aeroexpress at the stations, but it is cheaper to do this online. Please consult website and timetable Aeroexpress for more information.

Aeroexpress

SAVING TIPS: Tickets can be bought at the airport, but online it is easier and cheaper (450 RUB one way, 900 RUB return). A group ticket can be used by four people and costs 1,100 RUB for a single journey and 1,800 RUB for a return (valid for 30 days). The price is the same online and from the ticket machine. Aeroexpress trains run without stopping, besides you can use free WiFi aboard since early 2015.

Bus and metro to Moscow

It is more economical to travel by bus and metro to the centre of Moscow. Needless to say, taking a direct train is easier and faster. With bus 817 and bus 948 you can get in 35 minutes to metro station Planernaya (northernmost station metro line 7). With bus 851 and bus 949 it takes 25 minutes to metro station Rechnoy Vokzal (northernmost station metro line 2). The price of a bus ticket is 57 RUB or 80 RUB.

From both stations you can take the metro to the centre of Moscow, station Kuznetskiy Most for metro line 7 (travel time: 31 minutes) and station Teatralnaya for metro line 2 (travel time: 23 minutes). Metro station Kuznetskiy Most is a short distance from the world-famous Bolshoi Theatre. The total journey time is at least one hour. If the bus ends up in a traffic jam, the journey can take a lot longer.

Tickets for the subway priced 55 RUB are available from the ticket vending machines. You can also buy a day ticket (yediniy) for public transport in Moscow for 200 RUB, it is valid for 24 hours. During the night you can travel by bus H1 between the airport and the city every half hour. Please consult buses to and from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and  website Moscow Metro for more information.

“The metro stations with the most central location in Moscow are Okhotny Ryad (M1), Teatralnaya (M2) and Revolution Square (M3), at a short distance from Red Square, Kremlin and GUM.”
