There may be affiliate links throughout the content you're about to read. When you purchase from my links, I may earn a small commission (at no extra cost to you) which helps me provide even more awesome content for you :)

I’m always on the lookout for the best halal buffet in London.

And because there are quite a few halal all-you-can-eat restaurants in London , it can be tricky to know exactly where they are.

If they are completely halal.

And if they are cheap halal buffet restaurants as well.

Well, if you’re looking for the best halal buffet in London, you’re going to be happy you landed on The Working Line today.

The buffet restaurants we’ll talk about together are currently offering delicious Chinese food , Indian , and other Middle Eastern delicacies for a fixed price.

Lately, I’ve written quite a bit about the best halal restaurants in London, including HMC certified restaurants .

Well, I thought it would be nice to tell you about all you can eat spots, since, let’s face it: who doesn’t like eating their stomach out for very little money?

The cost of dining out in London – whether in romantic restaurants or coffee shops for a snack – has very much increased lately.

As customers, we love value .

It doesn’t matter if I’m going to a halal rooftop restaurant or an affordable halal food spot in East London; I want to be sure my money and my stomach are both well-handled.

Are you like me?

Then you’re going to love this guide to the best halal buffet in London.

10 Best Halal Buffet in London & All You Can Eat

best halal buffet london - halal chinese buffet london - best halal buffet in london - halal food places in east london - halal steak in london - halal fine dining london - halal chinese food london - halal all you can eat london - halal restaurants in london - royal nawaab

Before we get started, as always, a little disclaimer:

It is important for me to share only halal places where the meat has been proven to be halal.

Of course, I will tell you if pork and/or alcohol are served in the restaurants I mention here on The Working Line.

However, there are limits to what I can do.

I would always recommend you contact the restaurant before booking or before walking in to check if the halal status is still correct, as the restaurants can change suppliers without notice.

That goes whether you want to visit the best halal cafes in London , get the best halal full English breakfast , or find delicious halal steak restaurants.

If you’re looking for the best halal food places in East London, stunning Indian or Pakistani food, and the best halal Chinese buffet with all-you-can-eat options, welcome here!

Now, let’s get on with the best halal all you can eat in London , and delicious halal Chinese buffet spots!

Best Halal Buffet in London: Feast & Mishti

best halal buffet london - halal chinese buffet london - best halal buffet in london - halal food places in east london - halal steak in london - halal fine dining london - halal chinese food london - halal all you can eat london - halal restaurants in london - feast & mishti

If you’re looking for all you can eat halal food places in East London , Feast & Mishti is probably the most central buffet you will be able to find in the city.

Located on Whitechapel Road near Grounded and Dulce Cafe that I have mentioned in my guide to the best halal breakfast in London , Feast & Mishti offers absolutely delicious food.

This is a mix of Bangladesh and Indian cuisines that they have on the menu, with tikka, biryani, and lots of different curries on the menu.

The food is authentic and homemade, and if you’re looking for affordable halal restaurants in East London , this is a place you can take the kids to, or go with your friends and dine your heart out.

They have other restaurants around the UK with halal buffet in Oxford, Newcastle, Watford, and Liverpool.

Just a really good halal buffet in London, with a range of curries and gulab jamun desserts to finish it off properly.

If you’re ever around Aldgate or Banglatown and looking for halal all you can eat, this is the place.

Best Halal All You Can Eat in London: JRC Global Buffet

best halal buffet london - halal chinese buffet london - best halal buffet in london - halal food places in east london - halal steak in london - halal fine dining london - halal chinese food london - halal all you can eat london - halal restaurants in london - jrc global buffet

There is no other way to say it: JRC Global Buffet is one of the best halal all you can eat in London .

They have a f ew branches all over London, in Wembley, Croydon, Watford, Ilford, and Wood Green .

The one I would like to talk about is their halal buffet in Wood Green, as there are not a lot of halal restaurants around there.

Except maybe Kervan, which is one of the best halal restaurants in Edmonton and also has a branch in Wood Green for amazing Turkish food.

JRC Global Buffet is not a fully halal buffet in London, however, every halal dish is clearly indicated , so you won’t feel lost when dining there.

Their menu includes a variety of cuisines including Indian, Thai, halal Mexican food , Japanese, British, French, and Italian. However, the most represented is of course their Chinese food.

If you want to amp up your dinner a little bit, JRC Global Buffet also has a lot of vegetarian options and seafood, like sushi, which, let’s say is one of the reasons why we visit halal buffets in London.

Also, nearby, you have one of my favorite free libraries in London to study and work , the Wood Green Library.

So, you could start the day by working at this library before you call it a day at JRC Global Buffet. And that’s the way it goes.

Best Halal Buffet in London: Aroma Buffet

best halal buffet london - halal chinese buffet london - best halal buffet in london - halal food places in east london - halal steak in london - halal fine dining london - halal chinese food london - halal all you can eat london - halal restaurants in london - best halal buffets in london - best halal buffet in london

If you’re looking for an affordable halal buffet in London as close to Central London as possible, I can recommend Aroma Buffet.

It is one of the most famous halal all you can eat buffets in London , and it has a huge selection of Asian cuisines, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, China, and Japan.

Aroma Buffet is a great place where even if you won’t be able to get specifically halal steak, you will find halal beef, chicken, and lamb on the menu mixed with mouthwatering sauces.

There is even a Teppanyaki grill there, where you can cook lamb, steak, and even seafood with sauces all more delicious than the previous one.

There are not a lot of halal buffet in London around Shepherd’s Bush and Aroma Buffet, located in West 12 Shopping Centre, which is definitely a great place to dine with your friends, family, or significant other.

All the meat served at Aroma Buffet is halal, however, they do serve alcohol , so it is not HMC certified.

If you are after a halal Chinese buffet in London, the selection at this place should cure your cravings perfectly.

Best Halal All You Can Eat in London: Wok’s Cooking

best halal buffet london - halal chinese buffet london - best halal buffet in london - halal food places in east london - halal steak in london - halal fine dining london - halal chinese food london - halal all you can eat london - halal restaurants in london - wok's cooking

Wok’s Cooking is one of my favorite halal all you can eat in London because it is an HMC halal buffet .

It is a place that offers great Chinese and other Asian foods, like halal dumplings, fried rice, noodles, sauce meats, and seafood .

I love some sweet and sour sauce, and the way Asian cultures cook chicken – at Wok’s Cooking, it’s a real part of the culture you’re tasting.

It is located in Norbury, so it’s not one of those spots for a halal buffet in London around the center at all .

However, it does deserve all the attention it can get, because when you get there, you will be able to order all the food straight from your table.

Then, you’ll enjoy some of the best halal Chinese food in London in peace. Get your friends and family and you’ll have one of the most amazing evenings ever at Wok’s Cooking.

I would still recommend booking before going, as you would do in halal fine dining places in London .

But to be fair, Wok’s Cooking and their fresh dishes made of lamb, chicken, beef, seafood, and fish are all delicious.

Definitely, that’s one of the best spots for a halal buffet in London , especially if what you’re looking for is specifically a halal Chinese buffet.

best halal buffet london - halal chinese buffet london - best halal buffet in london - halal food places in east london - halal steak in london - halal fine dining london - halal chinese food london - halal all you can eat london - halal restaurants in london - best halal buffets in london - best halal buffet in london

Chaudhry’s Buffet, located in Edmonton Green, is one of the only HMC halal buffet in London.

I have talked about halal restaurants in Enfield Town and Edmonton just some time ago.

I would say that this is one of the most affordable halal buffet in London, especially during the week.

Located on Fore Street, Chaudhry’s Buffet offers a mix of halal Indian , Thai, and Chinese food.

This is one of the very simple halal buffet restaurants, and they cook up veggies and steak that boast lots of flavors .

In particular, the sauces and curries are unlike any you will eat in typical halal all you can eat in London.

For that price, that’s definitely a great value restaurant, especially if you’re looking for halal steak in London as they have a few dishes that could cure that craving of yours.

This is a place where you could go with your family or even for celebrations. Just a very laidback, simple, and modern restaurant.

Perfect if you’re looking for a halal Chinese buffet in London with a few dishes colored with Pakistani, halal Thai , and Indian food.

If you’re ever looking for buffet halal food places in East London , you should definitely visit Al Qasr in Ilford.

This is one of the most famous halal buffet in London.

They serve anything from Indian and Pakistani dishes to Chinese food , with noodles, pakora, chicken tikka, naan, and dhal among other delicious dishes.

You and I both know that when you’re looking for a halal all-you-can-eat in London, most probably, you’re looking for Chinese and Japanese food , with sushi, noodles, and wok-fried meat and vegetables.

If this is your case, you should take another look at Al Qasr, because this is a fully halal restaurant in London and they do not serve alcohol either.

I know that if you’re looking for the best halal restaurants in Central London , Ilford might be quite far.

Still, Al Qasr might very well be one of your new favorite halal all you can eat in London – and perfect for family and friend outings!

If you’re looking for a fully halal buffet in London, you should definitely check out Spice Village.

They have a few branches around London, and Spice Village in Tooting is HMC certified , which means that no pork nor alcohol is served in the restaurant.

This is not a halal Chinese buffet, but I promise you’ll love each and every one of the dishes there – especially if you like spicy food.

Spice Village focuses on Indian foods with butter chicken and lamb Karachi on the menu .

I don’t know about you, but Butter Chicken is one of my favorite dishes, and being able to find it in a halal all you can eat in London is one of the best surprises you could have.

There are lots of vegetarian options on the menu too, so if you want to go meatless that day, you can still have an amazing night out at Spice Village Tooting.

They are open from the afternoon to dinnertime, and Spice Village is one of the most affordable halal restaurants in London when it comes to choosing an all you can eat .

The biryani and chicken tikka are absolutely stunning, and you will definitely want to visit this family-run business.

Best Halal All You Can Eat in London: Royal Nawaab

best halal buffet london - halal chinese buffet london - best halal buffet in london - halal food places in east london - halal steak in london - halal fine dining london - halal chinese food london - halal all you can eat london - halal restaurants in london - royal nawaab

Royal Nawaab is one of the most famous spots for a halal buffet in London.

With one restaurant in Manchester and one restaurant in London, it is probably the most expensive halal all you can eat in London.

However, when dining at Royal Nawaab, you are sure that the entire menu is halal.

Located in Ealing, Royal Nawaab is also one of the most beautiful places for a halal buffet in London, and the dishes look very elevated.

This is not your typical halal Chinese buffet in London , and the quality of the food and the flavors resemble halal fine dining restaurants in London .

As I said, at £26.95 per person, this is one of the most expensive halal all you can eat places in London .

However, you will see that it is worth every penny, with delicious dishes tainted with South Asian notes, and Award-winning dishes.

Definitely one of the best restaurant s for those looking for a halal buffet in London, a huge restaurant where you will enjoy the best service and Indian and Pakistani dishes of your life.

Halal Dinner on the Manohra Cruise: A Unique and Scenic Culinary Experience in Bangkok

The Chao Phraya River in Bangkok offers an abundance of tourism opportunities, serving as a crucial transportation route for people and goods. When the sun sets, the buildings along the riverbanks are illuminated, presenting a stunning view. Despite the lively river activity, an evening cruise allows for a peaceful observation of the surroundings as we sail slowly upstream. Converted rice barges or luxurious cruisers provide a unique dining experience, as we are greeted by a dazzling display of glittering temples, towering skyscrapers, and a bustling stream of nighttime river traffic. The charming nighttime ambiance coupled with a romantic candlelit dinner creates an unforgettable and memorable experience.

6 Halal Buffets in London: Enjoy Halalicious Delights

Debbie Stevens

  • July 25, 2023

Buffet restaurants are a win-win for customers and restaurant owners. Businesses can serve large quantities of several dishes with fewer serving staff, making them cost-effective. It is a fantastic concept for diners who love variety and can choose with their eyes, at speed, and at a lower cost, making the dining style great options for lunches and brunches.

Halal means permissible and is an essential part of the Islamic faith. At the time of writing, Ramadan is approaching and expected to begin around March 22nd. Tips for Choosing a Halal Buffet in London

While there is a reasonable choice of halal restaurants in London, few serve a halal buffet. So, here are a few tips for choosing a halal buffet restaurant in London.

  • Check the restaurant’s halal logo. Some restaurants are halal-friendly, and some might serve halal chicken only. However, restaurants audited and certified to serve halal food, such as by the HMC, will display a logo.
  • When choosing a halal restaurant, consider storage facilities. Do they keep halal and haram separate?
  • Call or message to check their halal status. Most restaurants that serve halal food are happy to confirm their position.

The Insider's Guide To Visiting London

Halal Buffet in London: 10 Flavorful All You Can Eat Halal Buffets in London

Let me start right there: there are not that many places for a halal buffet in London. Then again, I was born in France, spent 4 years in Paris, two years full-time in London, and a year in Rome. I know what it means to have access to the best halal restaurants in London. Back in France, buffet restaurants focus on Chinese, Thai, and Japanese food with wok dishes, sushi, and dumplings mostly. But there are not that many halal sushi buffet places for instance, or halal Chinese restaurants . Being able to visit the best halal Chinese restaurants is something I’ve experienced only in London . Yet, although the halal buffet offer is quite scarce , I still have dug up the best halal buffet restaurants in London for you.

Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

If you were born in a country like mine where halal food is not predominant, then coming across the best halal buffet in London will certainly amp up your everyday eating game. As a reminder, although I have personally checked that all these buffets in London are halal, I would always call the restaurant in advance to make sure that their offer is indeed completely halal. Or so they can highlight the changes that have recently been made in terms of halal food in their menu.

I know you’re dying to know about the best halal buffet restaurants in London. As such, let’s just dive in and kill the suspense!

Best Halal Buffet London: Aroma Buffet

Aroma Buffet Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

The first spot for a halal buffet in London I wanted to talk about is Aroma Buffet in West 12 Shopping Centre . I don’t know if you’ve ever been around the Shepherd’s Bush area, but this is one of my favorite areas in London – even if I will forever be an East London girl. Aroma Buffet in Shepherd’s Bush is all about the best halal buffet dishes you could ever wish for at a very affordable price.

During the week, lunch for an adult will cost you £14 while it increases to £21 for dinner. Given just how many options are on the menu, I’d say this is a very affordable price considering that finding a delicious halal buffet in London it’s not the easiest thing to do. Let me start by talking about egg-fried rice, an amazing assortment of sushi, stir-fried vegetables, and aromatic crispy duck – one of my favorite dishes ever.

We can also talk about Thai prawn crackers, curry samosa, and onion rings among other delicacies offered by Aroma Buffet. The meat there is all halal, supplied by halal butchers. However, alcohol is served at Aroma Buffet. As such, I would still recommend calling beforehand to make sure the Halal status of the meat has not changed.

If you’ve been looking for a Halal Chinese buffet or halal sushi buffet in London , this might very well be the answer to all your cravings. Especially when you’ve been shopping all day long at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush.

Spice Village

Spice Khazana Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

Spice Village in Ilford is totally halal and alcohol-free and boasts a very affordable offer under £15 for adults. If you’ve been looking for the best halal Indian restaurant in London (aside from the article I have written a while back), that’s one that you will love. Spice Village mixes all the best halal buffet London foods you could wish for, from vegetarian Chinese cuisine to Indian Pakistani and Gujarati . All of these for £14.99 for an adult and £7.50 for a child under 9 .

Since Spice Village in Ilford is an HMC certified Halal buffet you are sure that you’re going to eat delicious food, all halal, without fearing to eat or drink something that you shouldn’t be eating or drinking. The fact that the meat is slowly cooked to maintain its juiciness and tenderness is just a bonus for me, a person who loves smoked meats. Peri-peri wings, tikka, biryani… Only one of the best halal buffet restaurants in London – if you are ready to travel a bit . And if you’ve been looking for a halal restaurant in Tooting, Spice Village has a branch there.

Halal Buffet in London: Feast & Mishti

Feast and Mishti Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

Feast and Mishti on Whitechapel Road is definitely a place you need to visit for a great halal buffet experience in London. I’ve already written about the best halal restaurants in East London . To be honest, I have kept Feast and Mishti for this specific article about the best halal buffet in London.

Not only do they offer a buffet based on incredible Bangladeshi food, but their authentic halal buffet is a meeting point for four people from every part of London. Delicious cuisine that relies on biryani dishes exclusive to Feast and Mishti.

If you ever find yourself around Tower Hamlets, Aldgate, or Bangla Town , visit this traditional Bangladeshi buffet restaurant. And if you ever need to just take away, that’s also possible at Feast and Mishti. Once again, all halal, all beautifully cooked in pans oiled with tradition and flavor. That alone makes it one of the best halal restaurants in London.

Best Halal Buffet London: Chaudhry’s Buffet Restaurant

Chaudrys Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

Chaudry’s is one of the most famous halal buffet restaurants in London. Located in Edmonton, it focuses on Asian cuisine, Indian and Pakistani dishes full of flavor, and deliciousness . I know Edmonton is not the closest place to Central London, especially when it comes to “just” having dinner. However, Chaudry’s Buffet is one of the most affordable halal buffets in London. This means that for amazing barbecued meat and halal steak as well as authentic curries and sauces , an adult will pay just over £10 during the week for dinner .

I would say that’s quite a great deal for an all you can eat Halal buf fet in London, right? If you were looking for a halal Chinese buffet and halal Thai food , this is definitely a place you should look at. It will make you feel at home, comfortable, and cozy, while you discover new types of amazing halal food in London.

Best Halal Buffet London: Royal Nawaab

Royal Nawaab Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

Now when it comes to Royal Nawaab, this is most definitely the most expensive all you can eat Halal buffet in London has to offer . The entire selection will cost you £24.95 for anyone aged over 11. All the meat served at Royal Nawaab buffet restaurant is 100% halal. Once again, this is not one of the best halal restaurants in Central London , since Royal Nawaab is located in Ealing. They do also have another restaurant in Manchester and both are booming.

Their first restaurant in Ealing is a blast, and they will be opening a 450-seat restaurant in Ilford in summer 2022. That looks like a long time to wait. Yet, if you had seen the number of awards the restaurant has garnered and the quality of their dishes , you would understand the price and the wait both. If you’re looking for something like a Pakistani buffet in London that resembles halal fine dining in London , then Royal Nawaab will hold all the answers for you.

Very stylish and very trendy, kind of like a fine dining halal restaurant in London where you can choose to dress up and have the most romantic date with your partner.

Al Qasr Ilford

Al Qasr Buffet Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

Al Qasr is another very affordable halal buffet restaurant in London. This one is located in Ilford and it caters to almost every dietary requirement from halal to vegetarian, and gluten-free. This is a self-service kind of buffet that would be perfect for a moment spent with your friends on your family.

What is really cool is that this halal restaurant in London focuses on Pakistani and Indian food only, from the simplest entree to delicious desserts. No alcohol is served in this restaurant, and you can sit back, relax and just try all the dishes you’ve always wanted to try – halal style.

Halal Buffet in London: JRC Global Buffet

JRC Global Buffet Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

JRC Global Buffet is, I feel, one of the most underrated halal restaurants in London. £10 for an adult during the week and £18 for dinner during the week , with the total amount, never going over £19 for the buffet selection. JRC Global Buffet is located in The Mall Shopping Centre in Wood Green.

I don’t know that I ever told you how crazy I am about Wood Green but I feel this is a very underdog area in London. It’s full of shops, independent bakeries and coffee shops, and cool libraries with a super cool vibe.

There are several branches of JRC Global Buffet in London that include Croydon, Ilford, Wembley, and Watford. JRC Global Buffet offers quite different recipes that range from French to Chinese, Mexican, or even Brazilian. Not everything is halal there and I thought it would be nice to highlight this for you.

However, every halal item in this buffet in London is labeled. Just so you know, there will be mostly halal Chinese food in this restaurant . Yet, you can also find other great vegetarian options, salads, pizza, and sushi that will make you forget that not all the selection is halal.

Nabrasa Halal Brazilian BBQ Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

Nabrasa Uxbridge offers scrumptious Brazilian barbecue meats. Just to be clear, this is an all you can eat Brazilian barbecue restaurant. There, you can get as much meat as you like… And almost all of them are halal. Nabrasa used to have a restaurant on Brick Lane but it has permanently closed.

That leaves the one in Uxbridge to feed us. I’ve always loved Brazilian food, and the fact that this is an almost completely halal restaurant in London is heartwarming .

You can definitely eat quite a few different meats at Nabrasa, including lamb, chicken, and beef. Although not all the meats are halal, you can double-check with the team so you know you’re eating something halal.

Khan’s

Khans Halal Chinese Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

Now we’re going to be talking about one of the very best Halal buffet restaurants in London, in West London, actually: Khan’s. Located on Westbourne Grove, Khan’s enjoys all the shine of posh West London. If you’ve ever looked for amazing Indian food in London, you’ve probably come across Khan’s, at least on Google.

I’m always all about flavor and freshness and I cannot go without when I’m going out for a dinner. The cool thing about Khan’s is they mix freshness with tradition. For instance, if you’re looking for decadent halal butter chicken or a biriyani, it’s a spot to consider. Their also very smart location in Paddington makes it really easy to excess access . The halal buffet is served for £14.99 for an adult at lunch and £7.99 for children under 5 . So yeah, Khan’s is a great restaurant to try if you’re looking for good halal meat in London.

Halal Buffet in London: Wok’s Cooking

Woks Cooking Norbury Best Halal Buffet Restaurants in London

To round up beautifully this list of the best Halal buffet restaurants in London, I thought I would make a nice surprise for you by talking about a halal Chinese buffet . This is a very cute place that allows you to order straight from the menu without ever having to get up from your table.

Wok’s Cooking is open every day from 3 pm to 11 pm, and 1 pm to 11 pm at weekends. It’s an HMC approved halal Chinese restaurant in London … but it is not in Central London. Once again, I’d say – if you find a great halal restaurant in London, just go. Does it really matter if you’re spending 10 mins on the Tube or 50? (I know it does matter, just trying to pump you up). In any case, Wok’s Cooking is fully halal. Whether you’re looking to eat amazing chicken, dim sum, or fried rice , you’re sure Wok’s Cooking will deliver.

REJOICE buffet lovers!

Both The Landmark and Royal Palm OCC restaurants introduced a brand new dining concept called Halal Buffet On Wheels . Yes we all know that buffet are strictly not allowed due to the guidelines stated. BUT what if the buffet are now served to you at your own table – with wheels 😋

SG Halal Deals Halal Buffet On Wheels Appetizer

Restaurant had precautionary measures to ensure safety of all diners(and that includes us!). Upon entry, we were shown our seats indoor which were fully airconditioned. It felt like nothing changed since we were there last year! Soon, we were greeted by the quick serving of hot appetizer which includes curry puffs and spring rolls. Cutleries were neatly packed in a plastic wrapper and service staffs were very friendly and responsive. Once appetizers were done, the main course came rolling it.  Choose from the different Specials – Nasi Padang, Seafood, Western and Northern Indian. Trust me. We personally love the Seafood and Northern Indian ones but it really depends on personal preference. You can have a go at all of the Specials though!

Once all main courses are done. You can request for their ‘pencuci mulut’ or dessert which includes assorted kuih and pastries – comes with ice cream cup too!

Finally, our craving for buffet met expectations. The food hit the right spot and we were VERY pleased by the range of Buffet On Wheels and the service rendered to every tables. We were also told that they will be adding more Buffet On Wheels cart to meet the growing demand.

A Muslim-friendly guide to Moscow, Russia

In Travel Guide by Dina Dzhunskalieva May 2, 2020

A Muslim-friendly guide to Moscow

Moscow, the capital of Russia and home to an estimated 12 million people, may not be the obvious Muslim-friendly destination. However, the Muslim community in Russia grows year by year – various estimates place the current Muslim population in Russia at between 14 million and 20 million people. With this growth in the local Muslim population, the Russian capital is becoming increasingly Muslim-friendly. The proof? A rising number of Muslim-friendly cafes and restaurants, prayer facilities and festive Muslim events.

Of course, no visit to Moscow is complete without a visit to the Kremlin, Red Square and St.Basil’s Cathedral. But how Muslim-friendly is Russia’s capital?

Here’s your Muslim-friendly guide to visiting this incredible city by local moskvichka , Dina Dzhunskalieva.

Muslim-friendly experiences in Moscow

1. pray in one of the biggest mosques in europe.

The streets surrounding Moscow Cathedral Mosque fill with worshippers during Eid, despite the mosque’s 10 000 person capacity. Photo: AFP

The origins of Moscow Cathedral Mosque can be traced to 1904, but it was demolished and completely reconstructed in 2015. During the period of the Soviet Union, Moscow Cathedral Mosque was the only one in the city that remained open for Muslims to worship in. In September 2015 President Putin himself presided over the mosque’s inauguration ceremony, together with President Erdogan (Turkey) and President Mahmoud Abbas (Palestinian Authority). The impressive architecture features 72m-high minarets and a central dome decorated with no less than 12 kg of gold leaf, which looks especially beautiful on a sunny day, shining in all of its glory.  The new mosque can hold an estimated 10 000 worshippers, which is much needed in Moscow. During major celebrations such as Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha, it’s estimated that 100 000 Muslims gather outside the central mosque alone, filling the streets with worshippers offerring their Eid prayers.

Top Tip: Do not miss the opportunity to visit the small museum at the mosque, which has a number of historical artefacts from the Muslim world!

2. Try delicious authentic cuisine from Central Asia and the Caucasus at halal eateries

Moscow is a hub for ethnicities from all over Russia and post-Soviet republics. Every ethnicity has its national cuisine and with seven of Russia’s 22 republics being Muslim-majority populations, there is a sumptuous variety of halal local food on offer.

There are more and more halal cafes and restaurants opening in Moscow, and here are my personal top 3 recommendations that any foodie should not miss:

  • “Chaihona Aiva”

An Uzbek restaurant with a great range of the main Central Asian dishes: plov, manty, samsa and more. Reasonable prices make this place even more attractive for tourists, as for locals.

Beautiful interiors compliment the hearty Uzbek cuisine at Chaihona Aiva. Photo: Chaihona Aiva/TripAdvisor

Great spot if you want to try Caucasus cuisine without going to the Caucasus region itself. Home style chudu (crispy puff pastry with various fillings), Dagestani hinkal (dough-like dish served with garlic sauce and meat) and many more to enjoy.

Crispy chudu parcels from Zhi Est. Photo: Zhi Est/TripAdvisor

Chinese cuisine, mainly represented by lamian – Lanzhou-style noodles. Tastes very close to Turkic laghman and very cheap, although the portions are huge. Also try the steamed bun and selection of various teas.

Lanzhou-style noodles and lagman. Photo: Lanzhou/TripAdvisor

2. Experience Ramadan in a tent

Ramadan tents have been a feature of Ramadan in Moscow since at least 2003. Photo: Caucasian Knot

The Ramadan tent in Moscow offers iftar dinners and festive Ramadan activities for locals and Muslims who live in the city. On average, it hosts more than 500 guests every night. The budget organization of Iftars and entertainment programme come from Muslims themselves, first of all from the republics and communities which hold thematic evenings during Ramadan.

3. Listen to the most beautiful Quran recitation

The Moscow international Quran competition has taken place annually since 2000. Photo: VoiceofglobalUmmah.blogspot

Every year in Moscow, competitors from around the world gather to take part in an annual international Qur’an recitation competition. This year is the 20th Moscow Quran Reciting Competition, which was scheduled for 19th of April but has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This competition sees representatives from a number of Muslim states including Iran, Turkey, Malaysia and Qatar as well as the Muslim-majority republics of Tatarstan, Dagestan and other regions.

With Asian street food favourites, signature wok-fried crabs and seafood, alongside a ‘live’ Charcoal Panggang station, here are some of the Spice Brasserie highlights: (selected dishes will be featured on a rotational basis on the buffet)

royal buffet tours halal

Chilli Crab The Chilli Crab is one of Spice Brasserie’s signature dishes and a must-try for all seafood lovers.

The secret behind the success of the freshly cooked crab is the special chilli sauce, a true flavour bomb boasting a blend of savoury, slightly sweet, eggy, and moderately spicy quality.

Don’t forget to get some mantou to mop up the thick and rich sauce.

royal buffet tours halal

Black Pepper Slipper Lobster The pairing of robust and aromatic black pepper sauce with delicate Slipper Lobster creates a tasty composition that is equally savoury and spicy.

The black pepper was slightly intense but not overbearing, leaving just a tingle on your taste buds.

royal buffet tours halal

Hokkien Fried Prawn Mee (SIN-MA Lunch Buffet Exclusive) Asian street food favourites available on rotation here include Fried Oyster Omelette, Carrot Cake and Okonomiyaki.

Not forgetting the Hokkien Fried Prawn Noodles, cooked in a full-bodied, fragrant prawn broth would most likely make your mouth water. Drizzle some lime and sambal chilli for a tasty kick.

royal buffet tours halal

Penang Assam Laksa Using a recipe from Chef Patrick’s family, this Penang Assam Laksa is a hearty concoction made using mackerel fish.

A little spicy and sour at the same time, you would love the broth’s fruity, sweet, tangy, and savoury notes from the tamarind, pineapple chunks, and ginger torch flower.

Also available on rotation at the noodle station include Mee Soto Ayam, Penang Prawn Noodle Soup, and Singapore Laksa.

royal buffet tours halal

Kam Heong Lala (SIN-MA Lunch Buffet Exclusive) Another Malaysian favourite served at Spice Brasserie is Kam Heong Lala, comprising fresh thin-shelled clams stir-fried in a spicy kam heong sauce.

Harmonizing the mildly sweet and briny flavour of the clams, the sauce had a piquant taste, extracted from a mix of singular ingredients like curry leaves, garlic, dried shrimp, shallots, and other herbs and spices.

royal buffet tours halal

Braised Beef Brisket with Radish (SIN-MA Lunch Buffet Exclusive) A meaty dish guaranteed to warm you up, Spice Brasserie’s Braised Beef Brisket promises tender, melt-in-your-mouth chunks of slow-cooked beef brisket prepared in an aromatic sauce.

royal buffet tours halal

Fresh Cold Seafood On Ice Diners can expect a selection of premium items from fresh Tiger Prawns and Half Shell Scallops to Stone Crab Claws, Gong Gong, and Black Mussels.

And for that extra vigour of Asian flavours, there’s a Thai Nam Jim dip made with garlic, fish sauce, lime, and chillies, as well as the sweet and salty Sukiyaki sauce.

royal buffet tours halal

Fresh Assorted Tandoori Naan An ode to the vibrant Indian cuisine in its surrounding, Spice Brasserie also offers an authentic selection of North and South Indian specialities.

They can include Goan Fish Curry, Butter Chicken, Dal Tadka Curry and Mutton Biryani Rice, accompanied by freshly baked naans from its Tandoor oven.

Cooked in a deeply hot tandoor, the Naans (with Plain Naan and Garlic Coriander Naan options) were fluffy light with a hint of charred crispiness on the surface.

Ever-so-slightly chewy with a good soaking texture, a naan makes for a great accompaniment with the curries. Do remember that naan is best when eaten freshly-hot.

royal buffet tours halal

Grilled Chicken & Beef Satay with Condiments Embracing the street-food theme, Spice Brasserie has “live” counters preparing a multitude of classic comfort bites at the “Charcoal Panggang” station.

Yes, they could be Asian Spice Marinated Lamb Flap Rib, Beef Ox Tail, Otah, and succulent Spring Chicken, served with Sambal Kicap and Sambal Balado.

Among the most popular are the succulent and tender Chicken and Beef Skewers, cooked on a fiery hot charcoal flame.

The classic condiment to pair the skewers with includes a sweet, smooth, and nutty satay peanut sauce.

royal buffet tours halal

Cempedak Crumble Cake As for the sweet treats, head to the dessert bar for creamy Durian Pengat with Sticky Rice, Assorted Malay Kueh, Kueh Lapis, or Penang Muah Chee.

The Cempedak Crumble Cake attracts dinners first with its lime green and creamy colour.

It then inspirits the taste buds with the distinct tropical flavour of the cempedak fruit.

The cake’s buttery texture and the juiciness of the fruit leave a lasting impression, making the crumble a true hidden gem of the buffet.
