Titleist DT Trusoft vs Tour Soft: Which is Better?

Most golfers seek golf balls that offer distance. There are many of these balls, but the price tag is the problem.

The Titleist DT TruSoft and Tour Soft balls show significant similarities, and some golfers can’t differentiate between them.

As established above, both balls are 2-piece balls with a lower compression rating.

They are non-urethane covers which result in a lower spin rate. They are wrapped in the cheaper but slightly firmer ionomer type cover.

The ionomer cover is a surlyn material in most two-piece golf balls.

Generally, both balls offer the soft feeling of a typical Chrome Soft ball plus tour-caliber performance.

Titleist DT Trusoft vs Tour Soft: Differences

Despite their similarities, these balls still exhibit noticeable attributes that differentiate them. Let’s compare them using the factors below:

The Titleist DT TruSoft golf ball has incredible innovative technologies.

It features the TruTouch Core, a new large low-compression core built to provide low spin for larger distances and an exceptionally soft feel on all shots.

The TruFlex cover version is also incorporated into the ionomer cover to provide a soft feel and increased spin for wedge shots.

The balls are developed with advanced aerodynamics that meets stringent standards, ensuring optimum distance and consistent ball flight.

Conversely, the Tour Soft balls are developed with the largest Titleist core ever. This large core delivers a responsive feel and higher ball speed for exceptional distance.

Typically, when a large core is used, it requires an extremely thin cover.

Hence, the balls feature the new ultra-thin 4CE grafted balk cover built with the brand’s proprietary technology.

As such, you can elevate and compress TruSoft easily.

Price is a notable factor to consider before buying a golf ball. You want a golf ball that offers good value for money.

When compared, the DT TruSoft ball is cheaper than the Tour Soft. Generally, most people considered the TourSoft ball too expensive for a two-piece ball.

However, both golf balls offer decent value for money.

Titleist DT TruSoft golf balls: What you need to know

Titleist’s DT golf balls have had a following with golfers for decades, going back to the 1940s when DT stood for “Dynamite Thread.” There’s no thread in modern golf balls, of course, but in recent years Titleist’s DT Solo has resonated with golfers wanting a soft-feeling golf ball with well-rounded performance at an affordable price.

Titleist’s new DT golf ball, the DT TruSoft, replaces the DT Solo in the company’s line. It sells for $21.99 (MAP), and is available in white and optic yellow. The DT TruSoft aims to give golfers a significantly softer feel than they enjoyed from the DT Solo, without compromising the performance of its predecessor.

On Titleist’s compression measuring devices, the DT TruSoft is 15 points softer than DT Solo, which was already the softest golf ball in Titleist’s line. That puts its compression in the mid 50s, according to Michael Mahoney, director of golf ball marketing for Titleist.

The move toward a softer compression was prompted by increased demand for softer golf balls, Mahoney said, which the company saw the impact of when it released its significantly softer NXT Tour S golf ball in 2014.

Focusing on a single factor isn’t Titleist’s style when it comes to golf balls, however, particularly when that factor is compression. The company wanted to create a softer-feeling DT without affecting performance, particularly short game spin. Its engineers found the means to do so by blending a fast, low-compression core and a Pure Ionomer cover — both of which are the softest Titleist has ever used in a golf ball.

There can be benefits to that in the long game, but also detriments to that in the short game. Remember that the DT TruSoft is still an affordable golf ball, which means there are better-performing golf balls in the Titleist line. So if you’re looking for more short-game performance from the Titleist brand, you’ll want to try the NXT Tour and NXT Tour S golf balls (both $33.99), which are “in a different category when it comes to short-game performance,” Mahoney said. And of course, all golfers will get the best performance with a Titleist golf ball from either the Pro V1 or Pro V1X (both $47.99).

For that reason, it’s best to compare the DT TruSoft to Titleist’s Velocity ($26.99).

According to Mahoney, the DT TruSoft is a lower-flying golf ball than Velocity, so it will create more distance through roll. But when it comes to which ball has a softer feel, the DT TruSoft is true to its name.

I just played a round with these and wasn’t impressed. I’ve been using the Callaway Supersoft mainly and the Trusoft fees a lot harder. I had no feeling on putts and it didn’t hold on the greens. It also seems to mark up easily. So, I won’t be buying again.

I tested these balls and found them to be soft, long and straight. The only problem with them is that you can’t hold the greens. I am going to stock up on the 2014 model DT Solos as soon as I see them on the clearance rack. These new balls are good for a bump and run game (which I don’t play). I suppose they would make a good ladies ball also. Just too difficult to generate any backspin with the lower trajectory.

My friend, a “near-scratch” senior golfer, works part-time at a local course. He plays “foundlings” until they are beat up and out of round. He has a garage full of various Titleist but today he was one over par playing a dilapidated Nike Vapor he’s used for 72 holes. For most of us the ball we play with or lose, will make little or no difference in our scores.

I’m a “High Handicapper” golfer, just started playing 4 months ago. I don’t have endless supplies of cash to spend on $50/dozen balls, nor is my game able to support a “Pro” ball like a Prov1..I’ve taken lessons and made some improvements…I’m a member of the local CC and see a pattern with you people whom talk crap about other golfers…ie: High Handicap Players. You guys “Think” you own the course and anyone else shouldn’t be there.. I’ve played the DT Trusoft and it fits my game…I’m not a scratch golfer like some of you assholes whom clearly were just born to play….

This write up did not sound like a ringing endorsement of the product. “Remember that the DT TruSoft is still an affordable golf ball, which means there are better-performing golf balls in the Titleist line.” So for for all you cheap sons a gun that want to play a Titleist, you might as well play this…

Yea I totally agree, retirees with millions in the bank spending .50 on a ball looking for it for 15 minutes then drop one only to lose that one because they suck so bad and are to cheap to take a lesson. Lol

Welcome to New Orleans, where TPC Louisiana plays host to the 2024 Zurich Classic. In between breakfast beignets and nightly Creole feasts, PGA Tour players are also competing in the unique two-man format at the Zurich this week.

Although the vibes in Nawlins are a bit lighter-fare than the recent back-to-back competitions the Masters and the RBC Heritage signature event), the gear news was no less serious this week.

We spotted some recent changes from Rory McIlroy, a very rare Odyssey Backstryke putter, dove into the bag of legendary New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, and spotted Patrick Cantlay continuing to test new equipment.

Get your beads out and crack your crawfish, because it’s time for an equipment rundown from The Big Easy (meaning New Orleans, of course, not Ernie Els).

Rory’s on-and-off lob wedge

Since the end of 2023, Rory McIlroy has had an on-again, off-again relationship with a Titleist Vokey K-Grind lob wedge. In his last start, it was on, and the wedge is back in the bag again this week. We got a great look at the complicated grind that McIlroy uses.

A full look into McIlroy’s bag above also shows that he switched out of the TaylorMade BRNR Mini Copper that he used at the RBC Heritage, and he’s back into the Qi10 core 3-wood. As we discussed last week , McIlroy will likely keep the BRNR around as a course-specific club, trading it in and out for the 3-wood.

Turning Back the clock

Unless Tommy Gainey is in the field, it’s unlikely you’ll ever see Odyssey’s Backstryke technology make an appearance on the PGA Tour.

But then, when you least expect it, Russ Cochran shows up.

For more than a decade – since the 2013 Sony Open in Hawai’i – Cochran has been stuck on 599 PGA Tour starts. This week will be his 600th.

Cochran is in the field at the Zurich this week playing alongside Eric Cole, whose regular caddie is Reed Cochran, Russ’s son.

The Backstryke putter was first released back in 2010, and its unique design helps shift the axis point of the putter closer to the CG of the head. And, the putter is getting a nod this week at the Zurich Classic, thanks to Cochran’s 600th career PGA Tour start.

Drew Brees with a Super Bowl winning Scotty Cameron putter

Drew Brees, a legendary retired quarterback for the hometown New Orleans Saints, made an appearance at the Zurich’s Wednesday Pro-Am, playing alongside Zach Johnson, Ryan Palmer, and current Saints QB Derek Carr.

Brees’ bag included a TaylorMade Stealth2 Plus driver, a BRNR Mini 13.5-degree, a Stealth 5-wood, a mixed set of P-790 and P-760 irons, Milled Grind Hi-Toe wedges, and a custom Scotty Cameron “New Orleans Saints” putter, which Scotty made for Brees following his Super Bowl MVP-winning performance in 2010.

It should also be noted that Brees has his Venmo QR code as a bag tag.

If you’re gambling with Brees on the course, just know that not having cash won’t work as an excuse.

Stricker’s unrecognizable putter

Steve Stricker has made numerous upgrades to his bag recently, including a new TSR3 driver and T100 irons, but his longtime Odyssey White Hot No. 2 putter is still going strong. It’s the most recognizable unrecognizable putter ever.

Patrick Cantlay has opened the equipment-switching floodgates

Over on the PGA Tour’s Equipment Report this week , we covered Cantlay’s recent switch into Ping Blueprint S irons, and a Titleist TSR2 driver.

Cantlay hadn’t switched irons for about seven years, so the iron switch he made at The 2024 Masters came as a shock to the norm. He simply isn’t one to change gear very often, so anytime Cantlay makes a switch, it’s news.

It seems the floodgates of equipment testing have opened up a bit for Cantlay, who was also spotted testing a custom Scotty Cameron blade putter on Tuesday this week. By Wednesday, Cantlay was back practicing with his familiar Scotty Cameron T5 Proto mallet, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on going forward.

Daniel Berger’s custom Jailbird site lines

Berger, who’s currently using Odyssey’s Ai-One Mini Jailbird mallet putter, has a unique 3-dot, 2-line alignment on the crown of his navy-white-navy-white mallet putter. Looking down at the putter, it’s easy to see why this alignment system would help; it just seems impossible to set up to the ball off-center, or misaligned to the target.

Also, for anyone worried, you can rest easy. Yes, he’s still playing the 2013 TaylorMade TP MC irons, which we highlighted in our recent “ Modern Classics: Old vs. New ” video testing series.

Titleist DT Trusoft Review – An Affordable & Excellent Golf Ball

In the endless quest to improve their golf game, many players decide that it is necessary to play with premium golf balls. After all, they promise superior performance and allow the golfer to do things that simply wouldn’t be possible with cheaper golf balls.

But the harsh reality is that premium balls are expensive. If you make a regular habit of buying them, they are going to make a substantial dent in your budget, forcing many players to question whether or not they are worth the extra cash.

There is, however, a happy medium. There are some golf balls that aren’t quite classed as premium but can still offer excellent performance – and at a much fairer price. Is the Titleist DT Trusoft one of them? Let’s find out.

Titleist DT Trusoft Review

Small and unassuming though they may be, a lot of thought and attention to detail goes into the construction of golf balls. Some are specifically designed to excel in certain aspects. All of the following factors are important, but we recommended that you judge the importance of each one based on your budget, your handicap, and your technical needs.

As I’m sure we all know, big distances in golf don’t come easy. Sure, we can work on our swing, but when it comes to equipment, we need all the help we can get. That’s why some golf balls are specially designed to fly as far as possible.

Golf balls that are geared towards superior distances tend to be harder. This is so they can achieve a greater force of impact, allowing them to react and spring off a club face with extra power.

However, the harder the golf ball, the more difficult it is to control. This can make life on and around the greens a little trickier, as hard balls can lack feel and don’t spin as easily.

Golf balls of a softer construction are generally easier to control. They offer an enhanced feel, which is especially useful for putting and chipping. While softer balls probably won’t be capable of record-breaking distances, the level of control they offer the player is endlessly valuable, which is why they appeal to so many golfers.

As a player advances their game into more competitive spheres, spin becomes an increasingly important element of a successful golfing performance. It can be used to roll a ball further, to stop it in a tight space on the green, to aid subtle directional play, and more.

Some golf balls are designed with spin in mind. There are small nuances of construction that can grant the golf ball the potential to spin at remarkable rates. In the right hands, such golf balls can do remarkable things.

Construction

Golf balls are made from multiple layers, with some having more layers than others. The amount of layers, or ‘pieces’, that a ball has governs its basic attributes. They can be made from one piece, two pieces, three pieces, or four pieces.

One-piece balls have the most basic construction. They are inexpensive and durable and are what you would usually find on the golf range. They generally have a softer, more forgiving feel, making them a great choice for beginners. However, they significantly lack in distance compared to other balls.

Two-piece balls are generally a bit firmer, providing more distance. However, this distance usually comes at the expense of control. The most distance-orientated balls are typically made with a two-piece construction and are well-suited to advanced players who are looking to push their game forward. The Titleist DT Trusoft is a two-piece ball.

Three-piece balls are softer, granting superior levels of control without sacrificing too much distance. These kinds of balls really shine on and around the greens, as they are typically designed to be high-spinning.

Four-piece balls aren’t all that common, but some players favor them for the enhanced feel and control that they offer.

Kincks, marks, and scratches are inevitable, but some golf balls are simply more robust than others. Balls with decent durability will maintain their optimal performance for longer, meaning you’ll be spending less money on replacing them (as long as you don’t keep losing them to the waters and wilds!)

Unfortunately, golf balls aren’t just a one-time purchase. Depending on how durable they are, and how many you lose, you’re going to have to keep buying new ones at certain intervals. And golf balls aren’t cheap – especially premium ones.

Think carefully about what level of golf ball you need. Many players jump to the conclusion that they need premium golf balls in order to play their best, but for higher handicapped players, this isn’t a particularly wise choice.

Premium balls only make a significant difference at the higher levels of the game – if you’re a beginner, consider purchasing cheaper balls, and spending your hard-earned on green fees and lessons instead.

This latest version of the Titleist DT Trusoft has upped its distance game from previous models. This is probably thanks to some slight tweaks made to its technologies. The core is larger, the cover is thinner, and the dimples have been optimized for more distance-friendly spin rates.

Perhaps the greatest appeal of these golf balls is the price. The value for money can’t be denied. Of course, the lower price does come with its caveats, the most notable of which being the type of cover used.

Where most premium balls nowadays use a urethane cover, the DT Trusoft has been wrapped in the cheaper and slightly firmer ionomer type cover . This ball is marketed as being soft, and while it does feel softer than most balls of this price, it certainly doesn’t measure up to the likes of the Pro V1 .

Where the DT Trusoft really shines is its durability. After a solid session of bashing them around, we couldn’t see a single, solitary scratch. This is easily one of the most durable golf balls we have ever tested.

Ultimately, this is a Titleist ball, and in the majority of cases, Titleist means undisputed quality. The DT Trusoft is a solid, middle-of-the-pack kind of golf ball. It is best suited to mid-handicappers, as it strikes a great balance between distance and control, as well as offering the opportunity for some decent spin.

Features and Benefits

Trutouch core.

The new, low compression TruTouch Core is larger than previous Titleist cores. It is designed to deliver low spin for long-distance shots and to provide a softer feel on all shots.

The low spin rates of drives and long irons are certainly evident. These balls are capable of decent carry distances, which are helped along even further by fast ball speeds.

In terms of soft feel, we were a bit less agreeable. When putting, the feel was more firm than soft. That is not to say that it has a bad feel – it’s just not quite what we were expecting. Moving out to chips and pitches, however, we did feel more of the softness. These golf balls definitely offer a decent amount of control.

TruFlex Cover

Utilizing proprietary Titleist technology, the new TruFlex cover promises to provide an increased short game spin. It is an ionomer cover, which is not quite as soft as a urethane cover – but it’s still quality stuff, and is well equipped to do some impressive stuff around the greens.

Chips and pitches are where it really shines – you can absolutely get these things to spin enough to stop to attention. They aren’t the highest spinning balls on the market, and you might struggle to generate enough backswing to get them to come back towards you, but for the average player, there should be more than enough action.

And while we’re talking about this cover, we must mention once again its durability. Second to none.

TruSoft Flight

The dimples of the new DT Trusoft have been tinkered with in order to produce the best possible aerodynamics. The goal with this is simple: to produce the maximum possible distance and a consistent, piercing ball flight.

And as far as we can tell, this has been achieved. The ball speeds are consistently impressive. Sure, they generally won’t go as far as most premium balls, but for this price, these kinds of distances are worthy of attention.

Alternatives

If these golf balls don’t tick all the right boxes for you, not to worry. Here are some alternatives which you might want to check out.

This Mizuno shares many of the DT Trushot’s principles but approaches them in a slightly different way. The main difference is that this is a three-piece ball rather than a two-piece. This means that, at the expense of some distance, there is a bit more control on offer.

Indeed, the RB 566 is particularly nimble around the greens. The soft rubber core delivers a superb feel, and the spin rates are notably impressive. The ball also incorporates next-generation micro-dimples set in between the larger dimples, which essentially help to prolong ball flights.

Like the DT Trushot, the RB 566 also features an ionomer cover. This ball is not quite as durable as the DT, but it can certainly take a beating and delivers high levels of performance in every area of the game. This ball would be well suited to mid to high handicapped players.

The Srixon AD333 has been a dominant force in the two-piece market for over 10 years, and with its latest version comes the promise of exceptional distance, soft feel, and greenside control. In other words, they are looking to strike the perfect balance.

Utilizing the same technologies that are used in Srixon’s premium tour-level balls, the AD333 offers high-performing features in a more durable and affordable home. The level of performance you get with these golf balls is rarely seen in this price bracket.

For the greedy golfer who likes all the odds to be in their favor, you would be hard-pressed to find a better ball. There is a reason why this is one of the best-selling two-piece balls of all time.

If it’s softness that you really crave, look no further than Callaway’s softest ever ball, the Supersoft. Combining HEX Aerodynamics with a low compression core, the Supersoft is built to fly fast and far, whilst also offering a great degree of control around the greens.

For many players, the feel of this ball is a dream come true. It controls easily and is more forgiving than most.

That said, this ball is certainly lacking in the spin department. For lower handicapped players who are looking to incorporate an element of pinpoint accuracy into their game, the Callaway Supersoft probably isn’t the best choice. For higher handicapped players, however, this reasonably priced golf ball should prove to be an excellent golfing companion.

The Titleist DT Trusoft is about as close as you can get to being a premium golf ball without actually being premium. It offers solid all-around performance, capable of good distance, moderate spin, tight control, and unmatched durability – all for a price that isn’t going to break the bank.

Titleist have been making quality balls for a long, long time now, and this particular ball is no exception. The proprietary technologies do exactly what they’re supposed to, for the most part, meaning they can be struck with confidence.

They don’t seem to be as soft as we thought they would be on and around the greens, but the general feel of them is excellent. We happily recommended them to most players who are operating on a budget – especially mid-handicappers.

When first hitting the Titleist Tour Soft golf ball, we found that it offered a terrific feel, especially for a soft ball . While many golfers would assume that the soft ball would provide better feel, the Tour Soft exceeds expectations.

Powered by the spherically tiled dimpled system, the Titleist ball helps golfers reduce the length of their birdie and par putts for lower scores.

Primarily accomplished through feel and response, the Tour Soft helps the short game by keeping the ball rotating at high RPMs for crafting a better and closer chip and pitch shot .

Today’s golf ball review brings you new insight on the Titleist DT TruSoft Golf Ball, which many consider as a cheaper option if you don’t have $50 to fork over for a dozen Pro V1 balls.

Our Review of the DT TruSoft Ball

Short game thoughts.

The Titleist True Soft golf ball is a non-urethane covered ball which makes it different from most Tour Balls. The big difference you’ll notice between urethane covered balls and non-urethane covers is the spin.

The Titleist True Soft has much lower spin compared to the Pro V1, but the TruFlex Cover has helped it regain spin with the wedge shots to help improve your chipping around the greens.

SHORT GAME TEST: Try This Challenge with 10 Levels to Pass

While we did notice a difference in spin with our wedges, there isn’t a huge difference that would affect your golf game by using the DT TruSoft instead of a Pro V1.

As far softness, you can definitely feel it on the putter and the sound is much softer when compared to the Pro V1.

The TruTouch Core is larger and compresses more which makes the softness more noticeable but it isn’t super soft like we experienced when putting with the Callaway ChromeSoft. Instead, you still get a firmness from the golf ball to help give you feedback on your putts.

Overall, our short game review of the DT TruSoft is a B+ and should satisfy most golfers looking for a cheaper alternative to the Pro V1X.

Long Game Thoughts

If you struggle to get distance with your drives, you may notice a few extra yards off the tee by using the DT TruSoft golf ball. Why the added distance? Less spin.

The 2018 version of the Titleist True Soft golf ball has a larger low compression TruTouch core that reduces the spin on longer shots and gives it softer feel off the driver face.

In terms of distance, we didn’t find a huge difference compared to the Pro V1. And one thing we found that most golfers will love is a consistency from shot to shot in terms of overall distance.

With tour level balls like the TP5X and Pro V1X you’ll notice bigger differences in distances from shot to shot depending on how solidly you strike the ball.

But with the DT TruSoft golf ball, it is more forgiving and has lower compression allowing average players to achieve similar distances on their golf shots. Consistency is key!

Pricing – How Much Do DT TruSoft Golf Balls Cost?

As mentioned, this is a cheaper alternative to the Pro V1 so it is built with a cheaper cover, but still a durable cover. Recently, a dozen DT balls were selling for under $25! Pretty good deal right?

You won't find a better ball for this little money. It blends soft feel with piercing flights and consistency, so really is little to dislike.

This ball offers excellent value at just £23 per dozen, which will likely be under £20 in most pro shops. It also surprised us at how soft it felt on chips and putts and, as you'd expect, had all the consistency and durability of a Titleist ball.

This ball is partly designed for price-conscious golfers, so you don't get a urethane cover that creates spin like on the Pro V1. This can be compensated for by landing the ball short, but when you're short sided it's very tough to get close.

Key Technology

Compared to the previous Titleist DT TruSoft ball, this new 2017 version has been designed to maintain the softness you'll experience, but while adding a few extra yards of distance. This was made possible thanks to its TruTouch Core getting larger and its TruFlex Cover getting thinner, which together reduce long game spin. As you'd expect at this great value price point, you only get an ionomer based cover, but the ball's dimples have undergone minor improvements to eek out any extra distance possible.

Performance

During our testing at West Hill Golf Club we were pleasantly surprised by how similar the new DT TruSoft felt when putting and chipping when compared to the premium golf balls we test. We'd go as far as to say that if you were to blindfold 50 average club golfers, the vast majority wouldn't pick it out as a £23 per dozen ball based on feel alone. It also seemed to live up to the billing off the tee, flying on consistent and long trajectories. Of course, it's lower cost does come with the caveat of its firmer ionomer type cover, and while the 2017 DT TruSoft feels very soft, it's noticeable how it can't check up like the Pro V1 does. We know many golfers will happily take a little less greenside spin for a little more cash in their wallets, but we also know for others, stopping power around the greens is a feature they must have in a ball. Your preferences and budget will certainly lead you here.

We all know that premium golf balls are expensive, so if you’re looking for genuine long game performance and soft feel for your short game without the hefty price-tag, this new ball from Titleist is well worth testing.

No weaknesses. All very good.

the DT90 was the best ball that I ever putted and chipped with. I drove the ball about the same as any other ball. It has a good feel around the greens fast or slow.

Contrary to Dufus, who wrote a review based on one found golf ball of questionable quality, I have been playing the DTs since they were introduced. I have only about 6 new ones remaining, since they are most difficult to find. While not as good as the Pro V1s, I hit them as well as the NXTs. I doubt anyone will even read this review, but I didn't want the DT laid to rest without the praise this journeyman ball deserves.

Titleist NXT, Titleist Pro V1

I have no idea where i found the ball but i found it. Its a solid ball with a 90 compression obviously. Distance wise its middle of the road 250 or 260 if you catch it right. I really haven't gotten a whole lot of spin out of it, i usually expect 5 to 8 feet of roll out once it contacts the green. The cover is fairly durable haven't had trouble with it. Its an older model ball being that manufacturers don't print compression anymore. I don't know that I'd recommend it but its a solid ball none the less.

Titleist Tour Soft vs DT Trusoft

Been playing the TruSoft the past 6 months and have fairly satisfied with them but have been wondering about the Tour Soft.

From those of you that have played both of these balls are there any advantages to playing the more expensive ($10.00 more) Tour Soft ?

I dont play either, but I can say that i hear a lot of players who love the TruSoft

I found the tour soft to be firmer and a bit over priced.

tour soft is expensive for a two piece ball

Played both. Higher swing speed above 90-95, TourSoft is better, lower swing speed below 95 or 90, you will be able to elevate and compress the TruSoft easier. I like the TourSoft, as for my SS (~100MPH), the TruSoft is too mushy (play it though when temps are in high 40's low 50's). Favorite however is the '19 ProV1 in Yellow.

North Butte

I've played the DT TruSoft a little when it first came out and played its predecessor DT Solo quite a bit back in the day.

Tried a sleeve of the Tour Soft and after 2-1/2 rounds gave away the two remaining balls. Something was just off about the performance, didn't seem quite a long as normal and it certainly did not hold greens any better than DT Solo (or other low compression cheap balls). What a ripoff at the price point, same or slightly worse performance than the $25 ball except they charge $35 for it.

The Wilson 50 Elite and Tru Soft were my favorite balls over the last 3 or 4 years. Love the Tru Soft yellow color as well.

I only used the Tour Soft for one round and did not care for it.

Sounds like your reaction was same as mine. Something just not statisfying at all about the Tour Soft. Rare for me to actively dislike a golf ball immediately like that.

I preferred the TruSoft to NXT line as well. Before they switched that to Tour Soft

Have played both extensively, as well as the DT solo predecessor to trusoft and nxt tour precursor to tour soft.

Tour soft was longer for me and felt great. Real improvement over the nxt-s line it replaced. Nxt-s stunk for me, nxt was long but otherwise just ok.

Trusoft was not as long as dt solo for me, but it was close. It does feel a little softer. I didn't find it held greens as well as solo or tour soft.

Tour soft > solo > nxt > trusoft.

Trusoft really overpriced bc it's titleist and has the word soft worked in.

Tour soft is a competitor to the mid range srixon q-star and tm project a. In that range, I like it the best of the three.

Helps that I hit some absolute bombs with it. Who knows.

• 5 weeks later...

After head to had comparisons the last 2 weeks between the superhot and the dt soft the dt soft is the winner. It performed as well or better than the other surlyns I have tried including the new e12 soft, e6 and q star. I intend to use it for awhile to see if I can optimize my game with it. I especially like the feel off the driver. For the money it is titleist's best value.

Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges: Titleist’s wedge team, led by master craftsman Bob Vokey, believes there are three keys to great wedge play: shot versatility, distance and trajectory control, and maximum spin. All three have been addressed in Vokey’s latest creation, the SM10. Wedges will cost $189 per club and hit stores on March 8.

Titleist Vokey Design SM10 WedgeWorks Low Bounce K: Born out of collaboration with professionals, the Low Bounce K Grind combines the SM10 technology with six degrees of bounce. That gives players the ability to hit a variety of open-faced shots from tight lies while still offering forgiveness out of bunkers. It's designed for players with a shallow angle of attack who frequent firm and fast conditions. This model is available in 58 and 60 degrees with a raw finish on vokey.com and golf shops everywhere for $225.

Titleist Scotty Cameron Phantom putters: The Titleist Scotty Cameron Phantom line of putters for 2024 features 10 fresh takes on several familiar-shaped modern mallets milled from 303 stainless steel with lightweight 6061 aircraft aluminum flange and sole-plate components. There’s a renewed emphasis on alignment, both overtly in the markings and more subtly in the shapes and angles. The line also features the dual milling on the face for consistency of sound and roll. All models retail at $450, with the 5, 5.5, 5s, 7, 7.5, 9 and 9.5 available March 29. The 11, 11.5 and 11 Long Design will be available May 17.

Titleist AVX golf balls: The new Titleist AVX, a three-piece multilayer urethane cover ball, continues to meet the specific demands of players looking for a softer-feeling, lower-flying and lower-spinning counterpart compared to the company’s flagship Pro V1. The latest upgrade to AVX aims to provide both a little more distance on mid-irons and a little more greenside spin than past AVX versions. The key changes involve more velocity from a high-gradient core combined with more short game spin from a thicker, softer cover. The AXV retails for $50 per dozen and is available in white and high-optic yellow.

Titleist Tour Soft, TruFeel golf balls: Although known for it’s tour-level Pro V1/V1x line, Titleist knows there are players seeking golf balls that perform more than good enough without costing you the equivalent of a filet mignon dinner per dozen. That’s where the Tour Soft and TruFeel models come in. The Tour Soft provides golfers with more distance off the tee and increased spin into the green. All while providing a soft feel off the face. The TruFeel has a revamped core, cover and aerodynamics package to deliver more yards with the ability to play a variety of greenside shots. The Tour Soft balls are offered in white, yellow and green and will be available in pink in July 2024, all at $40 per dozen. The TruFeel balls are available in white and yellow, with Matte Red coming on May 15, all at $25 per dozen.
