Day 1 : Depart the USA

We board our flight for a relaxing journey across the Atlantic.

Day 2 : Arrive in Norway

Arrive in Oslo, Norway’s capital. We meet our English-speaking European guide and check in to our hotel for a two-night stay in the heart of the city. Take the remainder of the day to explore the city at your leisure or relax before our adventurous days ahead. Tonight, we get to know our fellow traveling companions at an included Holiday Vacations Welcome Dinner.

Day 3 : Oslo

Enjoy breakfast at our hotel before joining a local guide for an intriguing tour of Oslo. Major sightseeing destinations include the Royal Palace, Vigeland Sculpture Park, Akershus Fortress, the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, and the Bygdoy museums. Later we visit the Fram Museum, dedicated to Norway’s history of arctic exploration, and the Kon-Tiki Museum, home to the legendary balsa wood raft Thor Heyerdahl used to cross the Pacific Ocean in 1951.

Day 4 : Lillehammer

After breakfast we depart Oslo and travel to Lillehammer, located in a picturesque setting overlooking the northern end of Lake Mjosa. Home to the 1994 Winter Olympics, it remains a popular ski resort today. Tour Maihaugen, one of Norway’s greatest open-air museums, and learn what life was like from the Middle Ages to the present. Maihaugen resembles a small inland village and features nearly 200 buildings, including turf-topped houses, a railway station, school, post office, fishing cabins, and barns. As you near the entrance, you’ll see historic Garmo Stave Church, built over 800 years ago. Following an included lunch, enjoy the afternoon at leisure to visit area attractions that pique your interest. Some options include the Lillehammer Art Museum, the Norwegian Olympic Museum, or Fabrikken, a creative and cultural arts center.

Day 5 : Geirangerfjord

Today we travel westward through spectacular scenery to Norway’s fjordlands, the highest concentration of fjords in the world. On our way, we drive through Gudbrandsdalen, a traditional region of Norway best recognized by its bucolic farmland. We stop in Lom and visit the Lom Stave Church, one of Norway’s largest stave churches, with a history that goes back to the 12th century. Upon reaching Geiranger, we take a ferry through the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord to Hellesylt and enjoy some of Norway’s most beautiful vistas. Afterwards, a short drive takes us to the village of Loen where we check in to our hotel for two nights.

Day 6 : Briksdal Glacier

Our day starts with an exciting ride on an open-air off-road Troll Car to Jostedalsbreen National Park, where we experience the mighty Briksdal Glacier. This is one of Norway’s most famous glaciers due to the spectacular waterfalls and mountain peaks that surround it. Later, take the Loen Skylift to the top of Mount Hoven for panoramic views of Loen, the Nordfjord, and the surrounding peaks.

Day 7 : Sognefjord & Flam Railway

This morning we board our motorcoach and travel south to Kaupanger, on the shores of the Sognefjord. Known as the King of the Fjords, the Sognefjord is Norway’s longest and deepest inlet. Relax on a scenic 2 ½ hour ferry ride through this geologic wonder to the village of Flam. There, the Flam Railway brings us on a breathtaking journey to Myrdal featuring towering mountains, plummeting waterfalls, and lush valleys. We then change trains and head to Bergen, our home for the next two nights.

Day 8 : Bergen

Bergen is Norway’s second largest city. Nicknamed the City of Seven Mountains, it’s brimming with towering mountains, deep fjords, and colorful wooden houses. Following a delicious breakfast, a local guide boards our motorcoach and leads our tour of Bergen. Highlights include Bergenhus Fortress, Rosenkrantz Tower, and Bryggen, the city’s medieval wharf district and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We visit Troldhaugen, a living museum that was once home to the famous composer Edvard Grieg, who described this luxurious villa as his “best opus so far.” We celebrate our travel adventures with a Farewell Lunch at Ovre-Eide Farm, family-owned since the 16th century. Savor a variety of regional delicacies as we learn more about the farm and Norwegian national costumes. Later, take a funicular cable car ride up Mount Fløyen for outstanding views of the city and the sea beyond.

Day 9 : Fly Home

Majestic Fjords with Stockholm

Majestic Fjords with Stockholm

Experience most of what Sweden and Norway offer, including scenic islands, fjords, waterfalls, coastal and urban cultures, the unique Viking History, a glacier, mountains, and majestic forests. The tour only offers guidance in Stockholm, Bergen, and Oslo.

The remaining time allows you to explore the area at your leisure. Do not worry about having hotel or train vouchers; these will be taken care of. An escort tour manager will assist you from Bergen to Oslo and Stockholm. You can take a seat, unwind, and relish the journey!

Welcome to The Kingdom of Norway, home of the world's most stunning fjords. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel on your own, or book optional transfers in advance with us.

Overnight in Bergen.

Bergen is a gateway to the fjords and a city with a rich, fascinating history. As a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, Bergen has the perfect mix of nature, culture, and exciting city life all year round.

Meet your local guide at the front desk of your hotel at 10:00 am and take a walking tour of Bergen. Walk by the most famous places, like the Hanseatic Bryggen with its Church of Mary, the Hakon fortress, and the famous fish market.

We recommend choosing one of our optional activities to get a real taste of Norway.

Overnight in Bergen (breakfast)

Early in the morning, we will walk to the port in Bergen to catch a boat to Balestrand and enjoy the stunning views of Sognefjord, nicknamed "the King of the Fjords." The cruise takes about 4 hours.

We arrive at Balestrand around noon and take a short walk to the hotel. The rest of the day is free. Your escort will let you know when dinner is.

Overnight in Balestradn (breakfast, dinner)

Today is free to enjoy the beutiful nature on yur own or join our optional half-day tour to Fjaerland

From Balestrand to Fjaerland and back, with stops at Byabreen, Supphellebreen, and the Norwegian Glacier Museum. As we sail through the beautiful Fjaerland fjord, we enjoy amazing views of the steep mountains, the green fjord, and the vibrant landscape. Afterward, we reach Fjaerland, where the glacier and the fjord meet. Here, we wait for the shuttle bus to take us to the Norwegian Glacier Museum. Enjoy Ivo Caprino's panoramic film about the Jostedalen Glacier and the fascinating exhibition. The trip continues by bus to the Supphellebreen and Byabreen glaciers, and then the bus takes us back to Fjaerland. At the end of the full-day trip, we take a boat back to Hella/Balestrand.

The price for a round-trip includes the coach ride to the glaciers and the entrance to the museum. We recommend you book this trip when you book the tour because we can't guarantee that it will still be available when you get to Norway.

Overnight Balestrand (breakfast, dinner)

Today, your journey continues with a cruise on Sognefjord, Norway's longest and grandest. We will start at 8:55 am with a cruise from Balestrand to Flam.

The first stretch of the fjord, known as Aurlandsfjord, is a 17-kilometer-long arm of the Sognefjord, the second-longest fjord in the world (204 km). It is one of the world's most beautiful fjords in Norway.

After arrival in Flam at 1:35 pm, you will have some free time to explore on your own until we board Flamsbana (Flam Railway) for Myrdal at 4:05 pm. Flamsbanais one of the steepest mountain railways worldwide. The train travels through breathtaking scenery, passing the Rallar road, soaring mountains, majestic waterfalls, and no less than 20 tunnels.

In Myrdal, we change to Bergen Railway for Oslo. Arrive in Oslo at 10: 30 pm.

Overnight in Oslo(breakfast)

After breakfast, meet your local guide at the hotel's reception and set out for a 3-hour city tour of this energetic Norwegian capital city.

A guided tour of the city will take you through the Royal Palace, City Hall, Akershus Fortress, Frogner Park with all of Vigeland's sculptures, and the Viking Ships Museum (entry not included), which displays three authentic Viking Age ships.

Overnight in Oslo (breakfast)

After breakfast, we travel by high-speed train to Stockholm. Arrival in the city of Stockholm, which is encircled by almost 25.000 little islands.

The rest of the day is free to explore on your own. Walk the Swedish capital's streets, the royal family's city, and the main Drottninggatan - Queen Street, with many shops, bars, and cafes.

Overnight in Stockholm (breakfast)

Meet your local guide at the hotel's front desk before leaving for a 3-hour city tour of Stockholm. Founded on 14 islands and surrounded by the Baltic Sea and Lake Malaren, Stockholm is often called "The Beauty on Water" or "Venice of the North."

The city's impressive public structures, palaces, rich cultural heritage, and museums eloquently illuminate its 700-year-old history. You will visit Gamla Stan (Old Town) as part of your sightseeing tour, where you will be fascinated by cobblestone streets, beutifully preserved old houses and the Royal Palace.

The tour ends after breakfast. Transfer to the airport on your own or book optional transfers in advance. (breakfast)

What’s not included?

Contiki social travel trips have a large degree of flexibility built into them to enable you to truly own your experience. This means that some trip elements are not included in the initial cost and may require additional budgeting.

Flights to and from your starting and ending points are not included in the cost of your trip. These can be added on during the booking process either online or via our contact center or booked independently by you.

Each trip contains the right amount of free time for you to explore or indulge your travel desires. We offer Free Time Add-Ons, which are additional experiences that are not included in the overall price. These add ons are highlighted on the specific trip page. Your Trip Manager will highlight these to you and organise their booking on trip. 1. WHICH COUNTRIES ARE SCANDINAVIAN?

Scandinavia is a region in Northern Europe made up of three countries: Norway , Sweden and Denmark .

While the neighbouring nations of Iceland and Finland are not officially part of Scandinavia, they are often associated with the region because of their cultural similarities.

2. IS ICELAND IN SCANDINAVIA?

Although Iceland isn’t a Scandinavian country, it is often thought of as one. This is because it shares history and cultural norms with the Scandinavian nations of Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Iceland is actually one of the Nordic countries, a group that also includes Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. To find out more, check out this guide to the Nordic countries .

3. WHAT LANGUAGE DO THEY SPEAK IN SCANDINAVIA?

While each Scandinavian country has its own language, you’ll find that English is widely spoken throughout the region. In fact, children are taught English as a second language from a young age.

These are the official languages of each Scandinavian nation:

  • • Norway – Norwegian and Sámi
  • • Sweden – Swedish and Sámi
  • • Denmark – Danish

4. WHY SHOULD I TRAVEL TO SCANDINAVIA?

With its tantalising variety of landscapes and activities, you’re sure to find something that captivates you in Scandinavia. This is true whether your interests lie in exploring the outdoors or experiencing the local culture.

This is just a taste of what you can expect in Norway, Sweden and Denmark:

  • • Enjoy Norway’s stunning fjord and mountain scenery, whether you’re hiking or simply taking in the view
  • • Tour Sweden’s regal city palaces and pretty countryside dotted with medieval villages
  • • Sample the variety of Michelin-star dining establishments in Copenhagen, the Danish capital
  • • Learn about Scandinavian history in one of the region’s many art galleries or museums
  • • Chase the aurora while snowshoeing or riding a snowmobile in Lapland

So get ready to sit back, relax and enjoy an unforgettable and hassle-free trip with the experts.

It’s also good to know that Scandinavia is a safe place to travel where plenty of the locals speak English and public transport is easy to navigate. This, along with access to our 24/7 helpline, makes a solo tour in Scandinavia a good choice if you like travelling independently.

Discover more reasons why Scandinavia is perfect for solo travel in this blog.

5. WHAT SHOULD I DO IN SCANDINAVIA?

Although each of the Scandinavian countries – Norway, Sweden and Denmark – share similarities, each has something different to offer you. So if you can, we recommend visiting all three on your trip or returning to explore each in more depth.

Below you’ll find a brief round-up of the top travel experiences you can have in each Scandinavian country.

These are some of the best things to see and do in Norway :

  • • Explore Norway’s stunning UNESCO-listed fjords, including Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord
  • • Go on the iconic Norway in a Nutshell® tour and admire mountain peaks and tumbling waterfalls
  • • Uncover the country’s rich heritage when you visit historic Viking towns like Trondheim and Bergen
  • • Journey to the Arctic Circle and look out for polar bears in Svalbard, or learn about Sámi culture in Tromsø
  • • Enjoy the road trip of a lifetime and immerse yourself in the striking beauty of the Lofoten Islands

Here are a few top recommendations for what to do on your trip to Sweden:

  • • Wander the cosmopolitan streets of Stockholm , Sweden’s enticing capital city
  • • Take a boat tour in the tranquil Stockholm archipelago, just a stone’s throw from the capital
  • • Opt for a road trip around the Swedish countryside and visit Dalarna, home of the Dala horse workshop
  • • Head to Swedish Lapland in winter for a memorable stay in the world’s original ICEHOTEL
  • • Visit a Sámi reindeer farm near Kiruna or hunt the northern lights in Abisko National Park

Although Denmark is the smallest of the Scandinavian nations, you won’t want to miss exploring the capital city, Copenhagen. Get inspired and learn what  Denmark is known for . These are some of our favourite things to do here:

  • • Tour the city’s historic sites, including the 17th-century Rosenborg Castle
  • • Spend time roaming independent boutiques and charming eateries just off the capital’s cobbled streets
  • • Stroll through Nyhavn, making sure to stop at a café and admire this colourful district

You’ll find Scandinavia tour ideas for first-time visitors and inspiration for road trips in Scandinavia in these blogs.

6. WHERE SHOULD I VACATION IN SCANDINAVIA?

Scandinavia is brimming with cultural hotspots and places of incredible natural beauty. So you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to thinking about where to go.

This list of expert-recommended places in Norway, Sweden and Denmark is a good starting point:

  • • Oslo, Norway
  • • Bergen, Norway
  • • Geirangerfjord, Norway
  • • Lofoten Islands, Norway
  • • Stockholm, Sweden
  • • Gothenburg, Sweden
  • • Österlen, Sweden
  • • Kiruna, Swedish Lapland
  • • Copenhagen, Denmark

Read more about the best places to visit and when to travel in this ultimate guide to Scandinavia .

7. HOW CAN I GET AROUND SCANDINAVIA?

There are a few convenient ways to get around Scandinavia. These include joining a guided tour or travelling independently by train, boat or car.

Choose a Scandinavia guided small group tour and you’ll be able to relax while an expert tour guide shares their knowledge with you. Your local guide will also drive your group (of up to 16 guests) between each stop. This gives you the freedom to take in the view and get to know your fellow travellers.

In fact, one of the best ways to get around is by combining travel by rail and sea on an independent train and cruise tour in Scandinavia . And because the scenery is so stunning, the journeys between stops will become a highlight of your trip.

Or you could discover Norway, Sweden and Denmark on a self-drive Scandinavia package . Choosing a road trip gives you the flexibility to go at your own pace, meaning you can stop wherever you like along the way.

It’s good to know that while the roads are in generally good condition, road trips are best enjoyed during the summer months. This is because snow and icy conditions can make driving trickier in winter. So, it’s for this reason that Nordic Visitor offers road trips in Scandinavia from May to September.

Get inspired for your next adventure with these 2-week road trip itineraries in Scandinavia .

8. WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GO TO SCANDINAVIA?

While Scandinavia is beautiful year-round, the best time to visit depends on what you’d like to see and do on your trip.

For instance, choose a Scandinavia summer tour to make the most of mild temperatures and the year’s longest daylight hours. These conditions are perfect if you want to spend plenty of time outdoors.

On the other hand, a winter trip to Scandinavia brings a different set of adventures.

Imagine seeing Scandinavian cities and towns draped in twinkling lights for the festive season and experiencing the Danish concept of hygge for yourself. You could also enjoy thrilling activities in the snow or go on a northern lights tour in Lapland .

To find out more about what each season has to offer in Scandinavia, you can check out these handy guides:

  • •  When is the best time to go and visit Norway?
  • •  Sweden in summer: what to do and where to go
  • •  Scandinavia in winter: what to do and where to go

9. WHERE CAN I SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN SCANDINAVIA?

Northern Norway and Lapland are two of the best places to see the aurora borealis in Europe. Within Scandinavia, the rule of thumb is that the further north you go, the more likely you are to glimpse nature’s most spectacular light show.

And although witnessing this natural phenomenon can’t be guaranteed, travelling in winter will give you the best chance of success. This is because winter’s long, dark nights present more opportunities for spotting the northern lights.

So if you want to tick seeing the aurora off your wish list, then we recommend a northern lights trip to Norway between October and April. Alternatively, you could enjoy an aurora tour package in Lapland from December to March.

These are some of the best places to see the aurora borealis in Scandinavia:

  • • Svalbard, Norway
  • • Kirkenes, Norway
  • • Nordkapp, or "North Cape", Norway
  • • Tromsø, Norway
  • • Kiruna, Sweden
  • • Aurora Sky Station, Sweden

The Nordic countries of Iceland and Finland are also top locations for a northern lights tour in Europe . Check out this guide to the best times and places to see the aurora in Northern Europe to find out more.

10. CAN I CHOOSE THE ARRIVAL DATE?

Yes, you’ll be able to choose from a range of seasonal packages with a variety of start dates. So you can simply pick the day that suits you best, depending on the time of year that you’d like to visit Scandinavia.

When you’re booking your trip online, you’ll be able to select your preferred start date from the tour’s availability calendar.

For example, Scandinavia guided small group tours have a number of guaranteed departures available to choose from. Meanwhile, you can choose any start date that works for you from the availability calendar on a self-drive, or independent train and cruise trip.

11. CAN I CUSTOMISE MY TOUR?

Absolutely, you can personalise your tour when booking online. For instance, why not customise your package by adding extra nights or optional activities to your itinerary?

This is ideal if you’d like more time to discover the sights in one of Scandinavia's trendy capital cities. You’ll also be able to choose from excursions like a boat trip in Stockholm’s archipelago or a food tour of Copenhagen.

If you’re looking for something more bespoke, you can contact a travel consultant to discuss your dream trip to Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Our travel experts are happy to plan your bucket list adventure. They will share their insider expertise, whether you’re looking for the best Scandinavia family tours or an extra special honeymoon package .

It’s also possible to tailor Scandinavia small group tours by adding extra nights at the start or end of the guided portion of your trip.

12. WHEN SHOULD I ORGANISE MY FLIGHTS?

We advise holding off on buying flights until your tour is booked, but it’s a good idea to check what times and dates are available beforehand. Once your travel consultant lets you know that your trip is confirmed, you can go ahead and purchase your flights.

Waiting until we have confirmed your accommodation and tour arrangements means that you can select the flights that work best for your final itinerary. Plus, if you have any questions you can ask your dedicated consultant for advice.

13. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR IN SCANDINAVIA?

The weather in Norway , Sweden and Denmark can vary a lot depending on the time of year you visit. For instance, in summer you’ll experience mild temperatures, but in winter it can be cold and even snowy.

That said, no matter when you’re travelling, it’s best to be prepared for a variety of conditions. These all-season recommendations are a good place to begin when deciding what to bring with you:

  • Walking boots or shoes with good grip
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers
  • Woollen or fleece jumpers
  • Warm hat, scarf and gloves
  • Warm hiking socks
  • Quick-drying travel towel
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent in the summer months
  • Insulated coat and thick layers in the winter months

You can check out these destination guides for more information about what to pack for your Scandinavia adventure:

Long sunny days make summer the most favorable season to visit Scandinavia. The great outdoors come alive with longer daylight hours and most attractions are in full swing offering travellers lots of opportunities to chase the glittering sun. In this part of the globe, high tourist season doesn't mean congestion - the volume of fun and action are at its peak.

From the beginning of June until the second week of July , parts of northern Sweden are painted with surreal colours of yellow, red, purple courtesy of the Midnight Sun. Go near the Arctic Circle (preferably in the northern part) to get a clear view of the phenomenon which can last for up to 32 days. In Abisko, the northern tip of the epic Kungsleden walking trail, the midnight sun can last for 56 days.

While summer season is a great time to discover the Nordic countries, it isn't an ideal time to catch the northern lights - which usually appear between October and March (the aurora borealis season) .

Late May, early June, and September are shoulder season. If you want to have a quiet moment with the rolling tundra, Nordic landscapes, royal capitals, fjords and waterfalls, shoulder season - with days long and lines short - is your best bet.

If you're all for powdery snow and winter fun, the cold season is a spectacular time to visit.

Head to the magical Tivoli Garden in Copenhagen to feel the Christmas magic the Nordic way. A new cableway ride in Pixie Ville takes you above the wintry landscape with views of Denmark's largest collection of mechanical pixies.

Hunt for the Northern Lights in the town of Alta which is home to the world's first Northern Lights observatory and the world’s most northernmost igloo hotel, The Alta Igloo Hotel.

Riksgränsen in Swedish Lapland tops the list for the best off-piste skiing in the region. Try on a variety of slopes here or travel to the ICEHOTEL to sign up for dog sledding, ice sculpting or Arctic cooking class.

Until January, you can see killer whales making their way across the fjords of arctic Norway. Watch them as they feed on herring and enjoy their Arctic surroundings.

Getting Around

Scandinavia is a glistening patch of paradise offering a plethora of activities to do and places to explore. One way to keep your trip organized is to think of the way the countries are located around each other. The shortest route to the place you want to visit may be from a neighbouring country. For example, Sweden’s third-largest city, Malmo, is closer to Copenhagen than is it to Stockholm. Use the map in planning your itinerary.

Land-based journeys are spectacular but flights can save you days of travelling time. Plan ahead and look for reduced rates on airline routes. Whether by land or air, transportation in Scandinavia takes you to where you need to go in the most convenient way possible. Airports and city centres are connected by efficient bus and train networks so you can breeze through your itinerary without the hassles.

Perhaps, the most efficient and easiest way to get the most out of your Scandinavian holiday is by booking a packaged tour. Our team has carefully arranged an exciting set of packages showcasing the best the region has to offer. From sightseeing tours, to accommodation services to transfers, everything is being taken care of by our destination experts.

Feel free to call us for more information on planning the best holiday in Scandinavia.

Things to Do in Scandinavia

Scandinavia is one of the best European subregions known for its alluring destinations and many exciting activities. Book our Scandinavia holiday deals and go on majestic adventures in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Enjoy a scenic drive at Atlantic Road. This 8.3-kilometre stretch curves through the archipelago on the west coast, making travelling to the islands easier. There are designated stopping places where you can take snapshots and enjoy the breathtaking coastal scenery.

Have the time of your life and scream your lungs out when you ride the meanest toboggan run in Scandinavia. The Korketrekkeren is an old corkscrew-shaped bobsled track that used to host world championships, including the 1952 Winter Olympics. This 1.2-mile track is now a tobogganing track. Those who want to try the 10-minute adrenaline rush must take a 16-minute metro ride to Frognerseteren. You can bring your own sled or rent one. There are also some sledding classes for beginners for first-time visitors.

Must-visit Attractions in Scandinavia

Include these must-see attractions in your itinerary to make the most of your visit.

This Northern Europe subregion consists of three Nordic countries: Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Some also consider Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands as part of Scandinavia. You can go to the region’s myriad of marvellous land and waterscapes, such as the Dettifoss Waterfall, Pulpit Rock, Lake Saimaa and more. These one-of-a-kind attractions will leave you in awe of their beauty.

You can also visit the many cities in the region if exploring the great outdoors isn’t your thing. Each place offers something different for every traveller. Oslo has many international museums that showcase its rich culture and Viking history. At the same time, you can enjoy a gastronomic adventure in Copenhagen while exploring its different architectural marvels.

Best Time to Visit Scandinavia

The best time to get our Scandinavia holiday packages is during the summer, so you can enjoy the great outdoors that the region is known for. Most attractions are in full swing during this season, making your visit an enjoyable experience.

Visiting in the spring lets you enjoy the lush greeneries, crisp air and warm climate of Scandinavian countries. Don’t forget to prepare for cold and rainy days during your visit. If you want to have the chance to witness the Northern Lights, you should visit in autumn during the September equinox to have the best viewing experience of this phenomenon.

If you want to try skiing and ice fishing, prepare for the harsh winters when you visit Scandinavian countries during the winter months. While you can spot the aurora borealis during earlier months, winter is the best time to see them due to the season’s short and dry days.

Known Destinations in Scandinavia

Get our Scandinavia holiday packages and explore the country's many wonders.

There are many fjords in Norway, with Geirangerfjord being one of the most famous ones in the world. This nine-mile long natural marvel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by cliffs. Its majestic waterfalls and lush mountainsides make it one of the most scenic hiking trails you can go to.

Drive across the Oresund Underwater Bridge for a truly unique experience you can’t find anywhere else. The five-mile-long bridge begins outside Malmo, Sweden and ends in Amager, Denmark. The driving on this bridge is something to behold as it descends beneath the water.

Best Hotels in Scandinavia

Book our Scandinavia holiday deals and reserve a room in the most comfortable and luxurious accommodations.

Nothing says a seaside escape than staying in the Helenekilde Badehotel. Found in the coastal town of Tisvildeleje, this luxury hotel provides a peaceful atmosphere and an abundance of natural light. The in-house restaurant offers Modern Nordic cuisine that changes with every season and an extensive wine selection.

The Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort lets guests control how they want to spend their holiday. This resort, situated deep in the Finnish Lapland has a wide variety of accommodation options, from earth lodges and log chalets to glass and snow igloos. There are also various activities for everyone in the family throughout the seasons. You can go canoeing during the summer, ice fish during the winter, or attend horse safaris in autumn.

Post-Lockdown in Scandinavia

Travellers can freely visit Scandinavia without any restrictions, whether you’re fully vaccinated or unvaccinated. They don’t need to present proof of negative COVID-19 test results or recovery from the disease. Moreover, undergoing quarantine upon arrival isn’t needed. However, visitors must still wear masks in open areas and on public transportation.

Flying to Scandinavia

Different flight options are available, whether you want a one-way, non-stop, or round trip travel. Australian passport holders don’t need a visa when entering the European Union or the Schengen States.

Welcome to Scandinavia!  Dare yourself to see the undiscovered depths of Scandinavia, a vast geographic region in Northern Europe consisting of  Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, and Finland. A destination for all seasons, this region has much to offer beyond its medieval core. From the surreal hues of the Midnight Sun, to the dancing Northern Lights, to the arresting wonders of the Viking era - Northern Europe's vast region is filled with unique experiences that fuel your wanderlust. Acquaint yourself with Scandinavia's grand capital cities - Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen, or detour off the beaten path to see the beauty of Jutland Peninsula and the outermost regions of Finland and Norway.

For new and returning visitors, journeying to Scandinavia's grand capital cities is a great way to explore spectacular contrasts and similarities of the regions.

Visit Oslo, the Viking capital, and explore  the majestic Vigeland Park with its 200 intricate sculptures, or challenge yourself in the thrilling  Holmenkollen Ski Jump.

Peruse the wonders of  Copenhagen,  the enchanting capital of Denmark, with its old waterfront district at  Nyhavn,  the royal palace at Amalienborg, as well as the famous Little Mermaid statue. The world famous theme park - Tivoli - is also a must see.

The unique, brackish beauty of the Baltic sea opens up to you during your visit to Stockholm, the city built on 14 islands, and is affectionately known as Venice of the north. Set foot on  the old city centre of Gamla Stan, the  Stortoget Square, and  Fjällgatan offering unparalleled views of the city.

Apart from the great capitals, there's so much more in store for you beyond the usual trails. Detour off the beaten path to see the beauty of Jutland Peninsula. Watch in awe as the colours of sea and sky merge together to create a picture perfect backdrop for your holiday. The iconic lighthouse, sand houses, heather-covered windmill, and vestiges from the Second World War enhances the beachside spectacle. If it is challenge that you seek, head to the outermost regions of Finland and Norway and enjoy high adrenaline Arctic experiences such as  Arctic Icebreak Sampo Cruise, dog sledding, Northern Lights Camp Tour, reindeer safari, and an overnight trip in a snow hotel. Embark on a monumental natural experience standing on the steep cliff in  North Cape Plateau. Discover the thrill of standing at the tip of northern Europe, feasting on boundless views of nature. This place is great for experiencing both the Northern Lights and the Midnight Sun.
