Walt Disney World is celebrating its 50 th anniversary, and Visit Orlando wants to help you and a group celebrate with a free trip to the resort.

Visit Orlando, the official tourism association for Orlando, is “launching a special sweepstakes for 12 lucky winners and their three closest friends, family members, or travel companions to experience the 50th Anniversary celebration of Walt Disney World Resort before it ends March 31, 2023,” the association said in a statement .

“There’s still time to enjoy the 50th anniversary celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort and experience new attractions, special events, themed anniversary park décor, and more,” said Casandra Matej, president and CEO of Visit Orlando. “This sweepstakes will give an opportunity for friends and families to create cherished memories in Orlando for this once-in-a-lifetime anniversary event.” 

You’ll need to act fast, though. The deadline to enter the contest, which is giving away theme park tickets, accommodations at the resort, airfare, and money to spend, is December 5.

Walt Disney World’s 50 th Anniversary

Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando , Florida , opened on October 1, 1971. At the time, there was just one theme park: Magic Kingdom. There were also some golf courses and resorts.

Since then, Disney has added three more major parks: EPCOT in 1982, followed by Hollywood Studios in 1989, and then Animal Kingdom in 1998. In addition, Typhoon Lagoon water park was added in 1989, followed by Blizzard Beach water park in 1995.

Walt Disney World Resort opened 16 years after Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California , on July 17, 1955.

Now, if you’re doing the math, about now you’ve realized that the years don’t quite add up correctly. That’s because in typical Disney fashion, Walt Disney World is celebrating the anniversary in a big way. The 50 th anniversary, officially known as “ The World’s Most Magical Celebration ,” is “an 18-month party” that runs through March 31, 2023.

What Sweepstake Winners Will Receive

To enter Visit Orlando’s sweepstakes, all contestants need to do is complete a short entry form and then upload a photo with “their favorite family members, inner circle, or lifelong best friends showing off their Orlando fandom,” Visit Orlando explains. Winners can travel with their families, or even “best friends, besties, BFFs, and squads.”

Visit Orlando will then award one prize package each day for 12 days, beginning December 6, 2022.

Winners and up to three guests will receive the following:

• $250 flight vouchers for travel to Orlando on Frontier Airlines
• One standard room with quad occupancy for a three-day, two-night stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel
• Three-day theme park admission tickets with Park Hopper option
• A single $500 Disney gift card for food & beverages and merchandise 
• Ground transportation to/from the Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World Resort
• Visit Orlando “swag bags”

What You Need To Know

Now that you’re thinking about entering Visit Orlando’s sweepstakes, here’s what you need to know.

The sweepstakes, which ends at 11:59:59 p.m. EST on December 5, 2022, is open to legal residents in the contiguous U.S. and District of Columbia who are at least 21 years old. Only one entry per person is allowed.

Avoiding Junk Mail

Sweepstakes entries are one of the primary ways companies build their email lists. If you don’t want to be bombarded with junk email, try to opt out (if possible) from any mailing list sign-ups they are offering along with the contest entry.

It’s also smart to create a “junk mail” address through a free Web-based email provider such as Gmail and use it for all sweepstakes sign-ups. However, be sure to check that mailbox at least every couple of days, since winners are frequently notified by email.

Access Hollywood’s Universal Orlando Resort Vacation Sweepstakes Official Rules

April 22, 2024 – April 26, 2024

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION : NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. Void where prohibited. The Access Hollywood’s Trip To Universal Orlando Resort Vacation Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) will begin on April 22, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. PT and end on April 26, 2024 at 9:00 P.M. PT (“Sweepstakes Period”). All times in the Sweepstakes refer to Pacific Time (“PT”). Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible Entries (as defined below) received. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. PRIZE (AS DEFINED BELOW) DOES NOT INCLUDE ACCOMMODATIONS, PARKING OR TRANSPORTATION BEYOND THAT SPECIFIED BELOW.

ELIGIBILITY : Open only to permanent, legal United States residents who are physically residing in one (1) of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia (excluding Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands and other United States territories), and who are eighteen (18) years of age or older and of the age of majority in their state of residence as of the start of the Sweepstakes Period. Officers, directors, and employees of Sweepstakes Entities (as defined below), members of these persons’ immediate families (spouses and/or parents, children, and siblings, and each of their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside), and/or persons living in the same households as these persons (whether or not related thereto) are not eligible to enter or win the Sweepstakes. Sweepstakes Entities, as referenced herein, shall include NBC Subsidiary (KNBC-TV) LLC, 100 Universal City Plaza, Building 1440, 28th Floor, Universal City, CA 91608, NBCUniversal Media, LLC, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY, 10112 (collectively, “Sponsors”), Universal City Development Partners, Ltd. d/b/a Universal Orlando Resort, 1000 Universal Studios Plaza, Orlando, FL, 32819 (“Prize Provider”), and each of their respective parent, subsidiary, and affiliate companies, and their administrative, advertising, and promotion agencies, and any other entity involved in the development, administration, promotion, or implementation of the Sweepstakes. Trip (defined below) must be completed by April 26, 2025 (or on such other date designated by Sponsors in their sole discretion) or Prize (defined below) will be forfeited.

TO ENTER : To enter the Sweepstakes, during the Sweepstakes Period, use your personal Instagram account to visit the Access Hollywood Instagram account located at https://www.Instagram.com/accesshollywood (the “Website”) and click the “follow” button to follow @accesshollywood. After you follow @accesshollywood, you will be required to “like” the Sweepstakes announcement post that will be posted on the Website on April 22, 2024 at or about 1:00 P.M. PT (the “Post”) and submit a “comment” in the comments section of the Post (the “Entry”). The Entry must be submitted via a “comment” on the Post. An Instagram account is required to enter the Sweepstakes. If you do not already have an Instagram account, you can go to https://www.instagram.com to create a free Instagram account. If your Instagram account is set to the “Posts are Private” setting, your Entry may be disqualified and rejected as ineligible for consideration in the Sweepstakes. You must follow @accesshollywood throughout the Sweepstakes Period and for at least fifteen (15) days thereafter (for potential notification purposes) to participate in the Sweepstakes and be eligible to win. You may unfollow @accesshollywood after the fifteen (15) day notification period.

Limit one (1) Entry per person during the Sweepstakes Period. Multiple Entries received from any person beyond this limit will void all such additional Entries. Entries generated by a script, macro, or other automated means or by any means that subverts the entry process will be disqualified. Entries must be received before April 26, 2024 at 9:00 P.M. PT to be eligible for the Sweepstakes. Sponsors’ computer shall be the official timekeeper for all matters related to this Sweepstakes. Entries that are incomplete, garbled, corrupted, fraudulent, or unintelligible for any reason, including, but not limited to, computer or network malfunction or congestion, are void and will not be accepted. In case of a dispute over the identity of an entrant, the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant. “Authorized account holder” of an email address is defined as the person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the email address submitted at the time of Entry. Entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use entrant’s name, Instagram username, city, state, likeness, image, and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion, and publicity in any and all media now or hereafter known, throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification, permission, or approval.

PRIVACY : Entrants will have the opportunity to receive information from Sponsors and selected partners by checking the appropriate box(es). If, at any time, you no longer wish to receive materials from Sponsors or our partners, please go to our privacy policy, located at https://www.nbcuniversal.com/privacy , or the applicable partner’s privacy policy and follow the procedures indicated.

WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION : On or about April 27, 2024, one (1) potential winner (“Winner”) will be selected in a random drawing by representatives of Sponsors from all eligible Entries received during the Sweepstakes Period. Sponsors will make two (2) attempts to notify potential Winner via direct message to the Instagram account submitted at the time of Entry. Sponsors may share potential Winner’s name and contact information with Sweepstakes Entities and/or Prize Provider, as applicable, if necessary. Potential Winner(s) may be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility, release of liability, and, except where prohibited, publicity release (collectively, “Sweepstakes Documents”) within two (2) days of such notification. Noncompliance within this time period will result in disqualification, and, at Sponsors’ sole discretion an alternate potential Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries. If any potential Winner cannot be reached, is found to be ineligible, cannot or does not comply with these Official Rules, or if Prize (as defined below) or Prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such potential Winner will be disqualified and time permitting, at Sponsors’ sole discretion, an alternate potential Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries.

PRIZE : There will be one (1) prize awarded (“Prize”) to the Winner. Prize will consist of a trip for Winner and up to three (3) guests (collectively “Guests”, each a “Guest”) to Universal Orlando Resort (“Universal Orlando”) in Orlando, FL (“Trip”). Trip will include the following: (a) round trip economy class air transportation for Winner and Guests from a major commercial airport near Winner’s home (as determined by Sponsors and/or Prize Provider in their sole discretion) to a major airport located in Orlando, FL*; (b) three (3) nights’ standard hotel accommodation (one room, quadruple occupancy, room and tax only) at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort or at another Universal Orlando hotel (as determined by Sponsors and/or Prize Provider in their sole discretion); (c) non-exclusive ground transportation to and from airport and hotel in Orlando, FL* for Winner and Guests; and (d) Universal Orlando 3-Park 3-Day Park-to-Park tickets for admission to Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure theme parks and Universal Volcano Bay water theme park, for Winner and Guests.

* For a Winner who is a Florida resident, air transportation may be substituted with another method of transportation by Prize Provider in its sole discretion.

Prize does not include incidental charges, extras, and/or gratuities. Prize does not include alcohol. Additional restrictions may apply. Reservations are subject to availability. Prize is subject to blackout dates, including holiday days, and other dates as determined in Sponsors’ and/or Prize Provider’s sole discretion. PRIZE DOES NOT INCLUDE ACCOMMODATIONS, PARKING, OR TRANSPORTATION BEYOND THAT SPECIFIED ABOVE.

Estimated Retail Value (“ERV”) of Prize is Four Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-Seven and 29/100 dollars ($4,337.29). Actual Retail Value (“ARV”) of Prize may vary. Any difference between ERV and ARV will not be awarded. If Prize includes a Trip, ARV may vary based on, among other things, availability, existing rates at time of booking, dates of travel, and point of departure. For any Prize with a fair market value (“FMV”) of Six Hundred dollars ($600) or greater, Sponsors will furnish an Internal Revenue Service Form 1099 to Winner for the FMV of Prize for the year in which Prize was made available to Winner.

All details of Prize will be determined in Sponsors’ sole discretion. Sponsors reserve the right to substitute Prize (or portion thereof) with a similar prize (or prize element) of comparable or greater value. All taxes and other expenses, costs, or fees associated with the acceptance and/or use of Prize are the sole responsibility of Winner. Prize cannot be transferred by Winner or redeemed for cash and is valid only for the items detailed above, with no substitution of Prize by Winner. If Prize is unclaimed within a reasonable time after notification from Sponsors, as determined in Sponsors’ sole discretion, it will be forfeited, and time permitting, an alternate Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries at Sponsors’ sole discretion.

TRAVEL: Trip must be completed by April 26, 2025 (or on such other date designated in Sponsors’ and/or Prize Provider’s sole discretion) or Prize will be forfeited. Travel dates and arrangements are subject to air travel, holiday, blackout dates, and other prize and travel restrictions. Travel dates are subject to Prize Provider and Sponsors’ approval. Reservations are subject to availability. Trip must be booked at least sixty (60) days prior to intended departure date. If Winner elects to partake in any or all portions of his/her Prize with fewer than the allotted number of Guests or no Guests, the Prize will be awarded to Winner and each participating Guest and any remainder of the Prize will be forfeited and shall not be subject to further or alternative compensation. Each Guest, if any, may be required to execute and return releases of liability and, where legal, publicity releases (collectively, “Guest Documents”), which must be returned with the Sweepstakes Documents, or Guest portion of the Prize will be forfeited. All elements of the Prize must be redeemed at the same time, and no changes will be permitted after confirmation of any redemption. If Winner is between the ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-one (21), he/she must be accompanied by an adult of at least twenty-one (21) years of age in order to check into the hotel. Unless child or ward of Winner or one of the allotted Guests, each Guest must be eighteen (18) years of age or older as of the date of departure and must travel on the same itinerary and at the same time as the Winner. FMV of Prize may vary depending upon the points of departure, ground transportation, and/or airline fare fluctuations; any difference between stated FMV and final FMV of Prize will not be awarded. Prize consists only of the elements expressly set forth above; no other elements or expenses (including, without limitation, insurance, meals, unspecified ground transportation, phone calls, baggage, gratuities, incidentals, souvenirs, gasoline, etc.) are included in the Prize and all such expenses are the sole responsibility of Winner. Winner is responsible for any air travel taxes and/or expenses, including applicable departure taxes or fees, inspection charges, baggage fees, and security charges. Winner and Guests are responsible for obtaining, at their own expense, any necessary travel documentation (i.e. valid photo identification, visas, passports, etc.) prior to travel. Once issued, tickets are nontransferable and may not be reissued once travel has commenced. Open tickets may not be issued and stopovers are not permitted. Travel arrangements must be made through Prize Provider.

All parts of the Prize are subject to availability, and subject to change or cancellation without written notice or warning. Should an act of God, hurricane, war, fire, riot, earthquake, act of public enemies, actions of governmental authorities, epidemics, pandemics and the spread of infectious diseases, including without limitation COVID-19 (as defined by the World Health Organization and any of the strains, variants or mutations thereof), and any related governmental or judicial actions, including but not limited to travel restrictions, taken in connection with, or as a response to, any such event, or any other event beyond the reasonable control of a party, whether or not existing, known, foreseen or foreseeable at the time this Sweepstakes occurs, render the redemption or fulfillment of all or a portion of the Prize delayed, hindered, adversely affected, impracticable, or impossible, Sponsors and/or Prize Provider in their sole and absolute discretion, reserve the right to evaluate, make modifications to, and restructure the redemption and fulfillment processes and timelines for the Prize, or portion thereof, that Sponsors and/or Prize Provider are responsible for, which may include, but is not limited to, providing additional time for redemption and/or fulfillment. Sponsors and/or Prize Provider may modify and/or restructure the Prize or portions thereof to comply with government orders or guidelines and Sponsors’ and/or Prize Provider’s health and safety requirements. In addition, Winner and Guests should be aware of and comply with government guidelines regarding travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines before traveling. Should the Prize, or a portion thereof, become unavailable Sponsors and/or Prize Provider shall make reasonable efforts to provide Winner with substitute experiences and/or items of a similar nature and value for that portion of the Prize that is unavailable. If no substitute prizing is reasonably available then the remaining components, if any, of the Prize shall constitute full satisfaction of Sponsors’ and Prize Provider’s Prize obligation to Winner, and no other or additional compensation will be awarded.

Prize fulfillment and related activities will take place on a date and time designated by Sponsors and only when and in a manner that it is safe to do so, as determined in Sponsors’ sole discretion in consultation with appropriate health and safety experts. Winner and Guests, if any must follow all instructions given by representatives of Sponsors and/or Prize Provider at all times.

In connection with any visit to Universal Orlando or any location in connection with the Prize, please be advised that Sponsors’ and Prize Provider’s policies, CDC guidelines, and the recommendations of health officials must be followed. In addition, Guests should be aware of and comply with government guidelines regarding travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines before visiting Universal Orlando. Please note that any public location where people are present provides an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19, and Sponsors and Prize Provider cannot guarantee that any person will not be exposed during a visit. By accepting the Prize, Winner, on behalf of him or herself and on behalf of any individuals who use the Prize, expressly assumes the risk that during use of the Prize they may be exposed to COVID-19, the Coronavirus that causes COVID-19, or other communicable and/or infectious diseases. Winner and Guests, if any, expressly understand that these risks include contracting COVID-19 or other communicable and/or infectious diseases and the associated dangers, medical complications and physical and mental injuries, both foreseen and unforeseen, that may result from contracting COVID-19 or other communicable and/or infectious diseases.

If required, Winner and Guests, if any must cooperate with Sponsors’ inquiries related to public health matters and follow Sponsors’ related rules and processes, including, but not limited to, disclosures or processes recommended or required by public health authorities to protect the health and safety of Winner, Guests, and others. Winner and Guests may be subject to health screenings (which may include, but are not limited to, temperature checks, symptom screening, lab testing, and/or other medical exams) to be conducted by Sponsors, Prize Provider, or their designee(s) prior to or during the fulfillment of the Prize and related activities. Failure to fully comply with Sponsors’ requests or requirements may result in forfeiture of the Prize or portions thereof, as determined in Sponsors’ discretion.

During a period starting approximately four (4) weeks before participation in activities related to the Prize and ending approximately four (4) weeks after participation in the last of such activities (such period(s) subject to change based on medical guidance, and/or policy guidance), Winner and Guests may be required to inform Sponsors, upon Sponsors’ request, about matters relating to communicable illnesses and safe fulfillment of the Prize and related activities, including, without limitation: (a) medical symptoms; (b) travel history; (c) recent contact with others who have displayed symptoms of or have otherwise been confirmed to have a communicable illness; and (d) active public health orders issued by a civil authority or any similar public health mandate (e.g., order to quarantine, order to stay at home, order to disclose communicable illness) to which Winner and/or Guests are subject.

CONDITIONS : By entering the Sweepstakes, each entrant agrees for entrant and for entrant’s heirs, executors, and administrators (a) to release and hold harmless Sweepstakes Entities, Meta Platforms, Inc. d/b/a Instagram, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, and employees (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from such entrant’s participation in the Sweepstakes and/or entrant’s acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of Prize or any portion thereof (including any travel related thereto); (b) to indemnify Released Parties from any and all liability resulting or arising from the Sweepstakes and to hereby acknowledge that Released Parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to Prize, including express warranties provided exclusively by prize supplier and/or Prize Provider that are sent along with Prize; (c) if selected as a Winner, to the posting of such entrant’s name and/or Instagram username, on the Website and the use by Released Parties of such name, Instagram username, city, state, likeness, image, and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion, and publicity in any and all media now or hereafter known, throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification, permission, or approval, and, upon request, to the giving of consent, in writing, to such use; and (d) to be bound by these Official Rules and to waive any right to claim any ambiguity or error therein or in the Sweepstakes itself, and to be bound by all decisions of the Sponsors, which are binding and final. Failure to comply with these conditions may result in disqualification from the Sweepstakes at Sponsors’ sole discretion.

ADDITIONAL TERMS : Sponsors reserve the right to permanently disqualify from any promotion any person they believe has intentionally violated these Official Rules. Any attempt to deliberately damage the Sweepstakes or the operation thereof is unlawful and subject to legal action by Sponsors, who may seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. The failure of Sponsors to comply with any provision of these Official Rules due to an act of God, hurricane, war, fire, riot, earthquake, terrorism, act of public enemies, actions of governmental authorities outside of the control of Sponsors (excepting compliance with applicable codes and regulations), or other “force majeure” event will not be considered a breach of these Official Rules. Released Parties assume no responsibility for any injury or damage to entrants’ or to any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from entering or downloading materials or software in connection with the6 Sweepstakes. Released Parties are not responsible for telecommunications, network, electronic, technical, or computer failures of any kind; for inaccurate transcription of Entry information; for errors in any promotional or marketing materials or in these Official Rules; for any human or electronic error; or for Entries that are stolen, misdirected, garbled, delayed, lost, late, damaged, or returned. Sponsors reserve the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the Sweepstakes or any element thereof (including, without limitation, these Official Rules) without notice in any manner and for any reason (including, without limitation, in the event of any unanticipated occurrence that is not fully addressed in these Official Rules). In the event of cancellation, modification, or suspension, Sponsors reserve the right to select Winner in a random drawing from among all eligible, non-suspect Entries received prior to the time of the event warranting such cancellation, modification, or suspension. Notice of such cancellation, modification, or suspension will be posted on the Website. Sponsors may prohibit any Entrant or potential entrant from participating in the Sweepstakes, if such Entrant or potential entrant shows a disregard for these Official Rules; acts with an intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other Entrant, Sponsors, or Sponsors’ agents or representatives; or behaves in any other disruptive manner (as determined in Sponsors’ sole discretion). DISPUTES: THE SWEEPSTAKES IS GOVERNED BY, AND WILL BE CONSTRUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH, THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, AND THE FORUM AND VENUE FOR ANY DISPUTE SHALL BE IN NEW YORK, NEW YORK. IF THE CONTROVERSY OR CLAIM IS NOT OTHERWISE RESOLVED THROUGH DIRECT DISCUSSIONS OR MEDIATION, IT SHALL THEN BE RESOLVED BY FINAL AND BINDING ARBITRATION ADMINISTERED BY JUDICIAL ARBITRATION AND MEDIATION SERVICES, INC., IN ACCORDANCE WITH ITS STREAMLINED ARBITRATION RULES AND PROCEDURES OR SUBSEQUENT VERSIONS THEREOF (“JAMS RULES”). THE JAMS RULES FOR SELECTION OF AN ARBITRATOR SHALL BE FOLLOWED, EXCEPT THAT THE ARBITRATOR SHALL BE EXPERIENCED AND LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW IN NEW YORK. ALL PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT PURSUANT TO THIS PARAGRAPH WILL BE CONDUCTED IN THE COUNTY OF NEW YORK, NEW YORK. THE REMEDY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL BE LIMITED TO ACTUAL DAMAGES, AND IN NO EVENT SHALL ANY PARTY BE ENTITLED TO RECOVER PUNITIVE, EXEMPLARY, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ATTORNEY’S FEES OR OTHER SUCH RELATED COSTS OF BRINGING A CLAIM, OR TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT OR SEEK INJUNCTIVE OR ANY OTHER EQUITABLE RELIEF.

Universal City Development Partners, Ltd. d/b/a Universal Orlando Resort is the Prize Provider only in this promotion; is not a sponsor of this promotion; and is not responsible for the administration of the promotion, the collection of the entries or the conduct of the draws. All disputes arising out of or relating to any person’s use of, or participation in, the Prize itself shall be resolved by applying the laws of Florida, without regard to conflict of laws provisions therein, and shall be solely and exclusively brought in state or federal courts within Orange County, Florida. Nine Florida restaurants in Miami, Orlando and Tampa win Michelin stars. Here’s a list

Nine Florida restaurants have just earned Michelin stars for 2024.

On Thursday night at the Tampa Edition hotel, the internationally famous guide added three restaurants in Miami , four restaurants in Orlando and two in Tampa to lofty starred status, bringing the total in the state to 26 starred restaurants. All of the newly starred restaurants earned one star: Florida’s only two-star restaurant remains the luxurious French spot L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Miami.

Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin guides, said that for the past three years, Florida’s dining scene has exploded.

“Since the arrival of the Michelin Guide to Florida in 2022, there has been significant growth in the state’s local culinary scene, proving Florida is a leading gastronomic destination for travelers near and far,” he said in a statement.

Two Florida restaurants, however, did not retain their stars this year: The Den at Azabu in Miami Beach and Knife & Fork in Orlando. The restaurants will remain in the guide as recommended restaurants.

There are 149 Florida restaurants in the guide, covering 38 types of cuisine. Once again, Michelin shows its affection for omakase-style dining: Each Florida city had at least one restaurant with an omakase menu that earned a star.

EntreNos: This dinner-only restaurant with a tiny menu sources almost 80 percent of its menu from Florida, a harder task than you might think. “High-quality ingredients meet serious skill here,” the guide writes, recommending the dry-aged cobia as an example.

Ogawa: At this elegant omakase spot in Miami’s Little River neighborhood, Michelin praises baby sea eels with a soy-cured quail egg and lotus root, wild yam and langoustine tempura.

Shingo: Chef Shingo Akikuni, who presided over Miami’s starred sushi den Hiden, opened his own restaurant last year in Coral Gables, serving an omakase menu on a stunning bar made from rare Hinoki wood. The 14-seat restaurant is located in the historic La Palma building.

Camille: Formerly a pop-up, this Vietnamese spot just off Lake Baldwin offers a 10-course French-Vietnamese tasting menu. Michelin applauds the Dungeness crab curry and salmon over king trumpet noodles in a tamarind and pineapple sauce.

Natsu: There are only two seatings a night at this 10-seat omakase counter, which serves chawanmushi (Japanese egg custard) and truffle kampachi served with potato straws and a yuzu truffle vinaigrette as well as “impressive” sushi.

Papa Llama: This Peruvian spot run by a husband-and-wife team offers a nod to Japanese fusion but also serves up a chicken thigh roulade with aji amarillo aioli that is “spectacular,” according to the guide.

Victoria & Albert’s: Getting a reservation at this famous spot at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort may be tough, but the wait is worth it, with Chef Matthew Sowers using influences “from Asia to the Nordics.”

Ebbe: In Swedish chef Ebbe Vollmer’s cuisine, you’ll find Scandinavian elements — and fine food, according to Michelin, which praised the beet roulade with a brown butter and black cheer sauce and braised oxtail with seared foie gras.

Kosen: This omakase restaurant, part of a two-concept spot that includes Ko, a space for kaiseki dining, offers dishes like sea bream wrapped around sprouts with shaved black truffle as well as unfussy nigiri.

Other awards

The guide also awarded Green Stars — which indicate a restaurant upholds outstanding sustainable and eco-friendly practices — for the first time in Florida, honoring the Filipino restaurant Kaya in Orlando and Los Felix/Krus Kitchen in Miami.

Four special industry awards were also given for exceptional work in the industry. Justin Levaughn of Otto’s High Dive in Orlando won the Michelin Exceptional Cocktails Award, while Miami’s Gabriela Ospina of Boia De won the Michelin Sommelier Award. The Outstanding Service Award went to Israel Perez of Victoria & Albert’s in Orlando, and Tam Pham of Tam Tam in Miami earned the Young Chef Award.

Bib Gourmands

Florida also has 33 restaurants dubbed Bib Gourmands, a designation that pays tribute to restaurants with good quality cuisine at a good value. Here are Florida’s:

Miami: Bachour, Chug’s Diner, Doya, El Turco, Ghee Indian Kitchen, Hometown Barbecue, Jaguar Sun, La Natural, Lucali, Mandolin Aegean Bistro, Michael’s Genuine, Phuc Yea, Rosie’s, Sanguich de Miami, Tam Tam, Tinta y Cafe, Zak the Baker and Zitz Sum.

Orlando: Bombay Street Kitchen, Domu, Isan Zaap, Norigami, Otto’s High Dive, Strand, Sushi Saint, Taste of Chengdu, The Ravenous Pig, Z Asian and Zaru.

Tampa: Gorkhali Kitchen, Psomi, Rooster and the Till, Streetlight Taco

This is the third year Michelin has evaluated Florida restaurants. State tourism and marketing agency Visit Florida and tourism agencies in Miami, Orlando and Tampa paid the guide an estimated $1.5 million for Michelin to highlight restaurants in the cities from 2022-2024.

In a statement, Michelin said the partnership could continue.

“Michelin cannot discuss the terms of its relationships for competitive reasons, although Michelin respects that partners might have disclosure agreements,” the statement said. “It’s worth mentioning that once the Guide arrives in a destination the intent is for it to remain there. Supported by partnerships, the inspectors will continue to evaluate restaurants in the current coverage areas while keeping an eye on other locales as possible culinary hot spots for inclusion.”

Cavs sense Magic's 'desperation' heading into Game 3

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Home-court advantage is even more apparent in the playoffs than in the regular season, and the Cavs experienced it first hand as the Cleveland faithful rocked Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, leading to a 2-0 series lead .

Now the Cavs head on the road for Game 3 at the Kia Center, where the Magic boasted the sixth-best home record (29-12) in the NBA during the regular season.

Not to mention, Orlando fans have been yearning for a playoff appearance since last hosting a playoff game on April 21, 2019. The Magic have been in the playoffs just three times in the last 10 years, including this year, and the Cavs are prepared for a boisterous, obnoxious atmosphere in Orlando.

“I think you’ve heard the saying. It goes around all the time during the playoffs. The series doesn’t start until someone else wins on someone else’s home court,” Georges Niang said at practice on Wednesday before catching the flight to Orlando. “So they’re going to be juiced up [and] rejuvenated to get back home. They haven’t made the playoffs in however many years, so their crowd is going to be loud.”

But a Game 3 win on Orlando’s court would be more of a means to an end for the series rather than the beginning. Teams are 151-0 when taking a 3-0 series lead in the playoffs. The Boston Celtics became only the third team in NBA history to force a Game 6 in a conference final and the 15th team to extend a best-of-seven series to Game 6 after trailing 3-0 last year against the Miami Heat.

“We know that they’re going to play with a certain level of desperation knowing that they have to get this next one, so for us, it’ll be fun to go down there, play against their crowd, play against their energy, their youth, and try to get the next one,” Caris LeVert said.

“I think on the road it’s important to just be together as a team. Not let the crowd dictate how we play. Know that they’re going to make runs. Know that the crowd’s going to get into it, but still playing our game. Setting screens, talking defensively, just weathering the storm on the road, and I think that’s the fun part of playing on the road.”

Although the Cavs look to ride the wave of success that they’ve had in the first two games of the series, they aren’t satisfied and aim to continue to improve on areas of their game that they believe can still improve.

“We’re really confident, but we know they’re going to try to come out super fired up, especially with their fan base behind them,” Darius Garland said after Game 2. “Just be us. We’re not really worried about them, just try to continue to be better and play Cavaliers basketball.”

“We got to continue to defend,” coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “That’s what this series is going to come down to, and all the small things that we continue to talk about that give us an advantage. We have to take care of the paint. We got to limit their individual guys from having big nights, make everything tough on them, [and] do the job on the glass. I still think we can improve on our turnovers we can be better there. So I don’t think we’ve played our best basketball yet. I think we’re still working towards that, but I think the guys have an understanding of what we need to do and how we do it when we’re at our best.”

The Cavs have the best defensive rating in the NBA for the second straight playoffs, and they are facing the third-best rated defense in the regular season and fifth-best in the playoffs in the Magic.

While the presence of Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley have been major keys to the success of the Cavs on both sides of the ball, their offense needs to reach above 100 points to be competitive going forward into the postseason. Outside of the Cavs, there have been just two teams to score under 100 points in this year’s playoffs and win. The Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Clippers (96-93), and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday in Game 1 against the New Orleans Pelicans (94-92).

This era of the NBA has moved toward scoring as the main focal point, and although numbers dwindle in the postseason as physicality increases and foul calls diminish, it’s pivotal for the Cavs to put up better offensive numbers, ranking 12th out of 16 teams this postseason.

Compared to last year’s opening-round playoff series, the Cavs have the upper hand and the personnel to succeed on both ends of the floor. But it starts with their shooters knocking down their shots from beyond the arc, the identity of their offensive game plan that kept the Cavs afloat when Darius Garland and Mobley got injured during the regular season.

Max Strus and Niang were added this past offseason to accumulate more shooting threats to allow the Cavs to have multiple options, whether allowing Donovan Mitchell and Garland to drive and kick or running the offense through Allen and Mobley as offensive hubs to create looks for shooters off screens or during doubles and blitzes.

To start the playoffs, the Cavs have the third-worst 3-point percentage in the playoffs (29%), and Niang and Strus have combined for just two made 3-pointers (2 of 18) over Game 1 and Game 2, with both coming from Strus in the opening minutes of each contest. Niang is 0 of 8 from beyond the arc to start the series, but he’s not pressed in the slightest.

“Every shot has a one-shot life,” Niang said. “I can’t focus on what happened before, I just got to be ready to take the next one and hopefully it goes in. I trust my training and everything that I do to prepare to get to this moment so that when I step up, I’m shooting it with confidence and the ball’s going to go in or it’s not going to go in, but the next shot still has to go up.

“Over the course of my career, I’ve made a lot of 3-point shots, so to second guess myself would be very foolish, but I am smart enough to know that if I don’t shoot, something worse could happen, like turn the ball over or travel. So I think I’m smart enough to know that what I am really good at, I can stick to my guns and trust my preparation that if I’ve missed a bunch of shots, the law of averages says that I’m going to start making a ton of shots.”

The Cavs, albeit without a potent offense, have dominated this series thus far. Leaving a sour taste in the mouth of Orlando fans while on their home court by playing their game, leaning into their identity of an impenetrable interior defense, and adding their shooting prowess back into their arsenal would only further prove the progression of this group.

“It shows that we’ve grown, not only as a team but as individuals,” Allen said after Game 2. “We are not folding under pressure. We do have our moments where we can still improve, but as a whole, I feel like we’ve taken huge steps forward.”
