Warpaint Announce Spring 2024 Tour Dates 

The indie rockers Warpaint are set to celebrate their 20th anniversary with two new tracks, “Common Blue” and “Underneath,” along with a string of new shows across the U.S.

Fresh off releasing their new songs, set to be out on March 22 via Rough Trade Records, the band will head to a headlining spring tour which will kick off May 13 in Seattle at The Crocodile. Then, they are set to make stops in Portland, San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver, Houston, and more until wrapping the tour up May 26 in Austin at Mohawk.

“Common Blue” and “Underneath” marks the first outcomes of the band since their latest studio album, Radiate Like This , released in 2022.

On the day of their 20th anniversary in music, the band expressed their feelings on Instagram.

“With these new songs, Common Blue and Underneath,” they s aid , “we tie a bow around this time in our lives and all the experiences and songs we’ve shared over the years.”

While “Common Blue” embodies a fluttering melody, “Underneath” floats around an intoxicating acoustic riff. Watch the video for Warpaint’s new song, “Common Blue,” below:

Keeping their original band members since their formation in 2004, Warpaint consists of Emily Kokal (vocals, guitar), Theresa Wayman (vocals, guitar), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, vocals), and Stella Mozgawa (drums). They have dropped four studio albums to-date: The Fool (2010), Warpaint (2014), Heads Up (2016), and Radiate Like This (2022).

Warpaint Announce Spring 2024 Tour, Share New Song “Common Blue”: Stream

The tour and new music come in celebration of their 20th anniversary

Warpaint have announced a new string of tour dates for Spring 2024 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band’s formation. They’ve also released a new song called “Common Blue.”

The celebratory jaunt kicks off on Monday, May 13th in Seattle, Washington, at The Crocodile and subsequently makes its way down the West Coast, stopping at cities like Portland, San Francisco, and Pasadena, where they’ll perform at the Just Like Heaven Festival . After heading inland to Phoenix and Salt Lake City, Warpaint will eventually round out the tour with a three-night stint in Texas, hitting Dallas, Houston, and Austin in late May.

A Live Nation pre-sale for Warpaint’s Spring 2024 dates will begin on Thursday, February 15th at 10:00 a.m. local time  (use access code ENERGY ) ahead of the general on-sale slated for Friday, February 16th via Ticketmaster .

Once tickets are on sale, fans can also look for deals and get tickets to sold-out shows via  StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program.

To accompany the tour announcement, Warpaint have unveiled the song “Common Blue,” along with the track’s music video. “Common Blue” will also be available via a new 7-inch from the band featuring the B-side “Underneath.” Pre-orders are ongoing ahead of the vinyl’s release on March 22nd.

The new songs mark Warpaint’s first new material since 2022’s Radiate Like This and find them reuniting with Rough Trade, who issued the band’s debut record, The Fool . “It feels like a perfect return to where it all began!” the group stated in a press release.

“With these new songs, we tie a bow around this time in our lives, and all the experiences and songs we’ve shared over the years,” they continued. “It’s been an incredible journey and taken us all over the world sharing good times with beautiful people. Our hearts are full!”

Warpaint are an incredible band, and they put on a very impressive live performance. You can tell that they spend a lot of time jamming and improving songs they have already written, which makes for an exciting show. You never know what to expect from each song, they spice it up differently every time. They all seem very relaxed and into it. Jenny, Emily, and Theresa all have a special (yet very awkward) dance they do while they play; it's very charming. Stella is mind blowing... She carries the band. The best part of the performance is the jam they usually do at the end of the set. They have such a powerful connection as musicians. Its magical-funky-psychedelic. One criticism I would have is that Theresa Wayman seems to put her guitar down way too much for all the tracks from the latest album. Her voice is a little pitchy, so I would have preferred to hear her on lead guitar and have Emily sing, like they did for more of their older tracks. Emily's voice is really on point (I'm pretty sure Jenny Lee's mic wasn't even on...). I also found it strange that Wayman was in a spotlight for the whole performance. She was wearing a bellyshirt, and it didn't have the same vibe as any of the live performances from a few years ago that I had watched online. Kinda strange.

HOOO BOY, I LOVE Warpaint. This past show in Boston (at the Royale, which was an interesting choice of venue for them) is only the second time I've seen them but I can sincerely say that they're one of my absolute favorite bands to experience live. First off, there's this realness that really dictates the performance throughout the ENTIRE show. There's a lot of jamming and a lot of improvising that we're finally starting to see out of more younger, alt bands (haim!) but Warpaint's had it going on from the get go. Second, even though they're one of my favorite bands I tend to get pretty tired of listening to them pretty quickly. BUT there's this new energy that backs them up whenever they perform anything and it makes listening to an oldie but a goodie like Undertow sound like you're experiencing the song for the very first time and it's really magical. Their songs sound way more Raw and Intense when you're able to stand there in front of them and gyrate with them while they also jam.

It's a super sensual and intimate experience and I'm glad to see that they're back.

Huge fan of the band. They get tighter and more powerful each time I'm fortunate enough to catch one of their shows. Warpaint boasts wonderful stage presence and an undeniable chemistry. The sets are always a good mix of spacey melancholy and hard hitting songs, with some serious dance grooves thrown in the mix. It's hard to stop moving your feet and swaying along with Jenny, the bands bassist. For sure one of the most impressive live bands I've seen to date. I'm sure they will continue to impress for years to come.

An absolutely amazing performance from Theresa, Stella, Emily and Jenny. It's my first time seeing them live and they've done a great job, especially in the setlist where they controlled the tempo of the show really well. A generous amount of interactions between them and the crowd, even better when they kind of pretended to forget how to play "New Song" in the beginning of it.

Nonetheless, if they happen to come to near you, just go there and have some fun.

Brilliant. This band is super tight, their sound so well layered and composed that I was inspired. The vocal coordination between all members is impressive enough on the records, especially the latest LP, but to see it live was delicious. As a drummer, Stella's hybrid kit was encouraging to see—that one can mix electronic with acoustic so well. I can't wait to see them again, though I don't think they get to Australia too often.

I'll have to move to LA

It was absolutely mindblowing. Must have been one of the most beautifull pieces of music I have heard. It was melancholic enchanting and sweeped me into a soothing trance. Very unfortunate they showed up rather late and played only close to an hour. Would have loved to have been swept away even more! Will definitely see them again!

This was the third time I've seen Warpaint live, and they have yet to disappoint! As great as their recordings are their live show is even better, full of energy and you can see how much they're enjoying themselves. Warpaint are an incredibly talented band and one that you don't want to miss!

Saw them at Albert Hall in Manchester on one of the first days of spring. I've described them before as some sort of nymphs rocking it out in between chants. They're just incredible artists and human beings, extremely unique. It was an experience of love. I left in a state of evaporation.

I love this band but they are not coming anywhere near me I'm in a wheelchair because I'm disabled But they inspire me to keep fighting if they would come anywhere close to Tennessee I will try to figure out how to get there they are awesome band thank you warpaint thank you

Warpaint Are Hitting The Road In 2022 For Tour Dates Around The World

In just a couple weeks, Warpaint will release Radiate Like This , their first album in six years. Right before the May 5 release date, the band will kick off a run of tour dates , they announced today.

The trek starts with some UK and European dates in May and June. After a bit of a break, the band will take to North America in July in August. Overall, their schedule includes stops at festivals like Psycho Las Vegas Festival and Spain’s Primavera Sound.

As for the new album, the band’s Theresa “TT” Wayman previously said of recording it, “We got really lucky because the foundation of what we’ve recorded was recorded together. It would feel really disjointed if we had to write it from scratch from afar. It’s actually been amazing that we’ve been separate and had time to record the top layers and we can get even more considered with them. It’s really helping us that there are no time pressures and money constraints. […] I’ve been thinking a lot about lyrics and so I’ve been thinking about [Bob] Dylan a lot and how he strings a story together. He finds these perfect ways to say something that is so normal, it’s something that everyone experiences, but he unlocks this great metaphor for it.”

Warpaint announce their first UK and European tour in five years

The four-piece are currently readying the release of their as-yet-untitled new album

Warpaint have announced details of their first UK and European tour in five years.

The four-piece are currently working on the follow-up to their 2016 album ‘Heads Up’ , while they released the track ‘Lilys’ back in April.

Warpaint will return to the UK and Europe in 2022 for a number of tour dates in May and June, kicking off with a run of dates in the UK and Ireland.

The band’s tour will visit Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin and Bexhill, before the leg concludes in London on May 18, 2022. You can see the dates on Warpaint’s upcoming UK and European tour below.

To access UK pre-sale tickets, fans will need to pre-order Warpaint’s new album from their official store before 6pm on Tuesday (October 19).

Speaking to NME back in April about their forthcoming new album , Warpaint’s Theresa Wayman shared some details about the record’s subject matter.

“There’s a song from my higher self to my lower self on there, and a song about not needing to have anchors to anything,” Wayman said.

“Em [Kokal] wrote a song called ‘Trouble’ that’s really cool. She’s like [sings], ‘ I’m in trouble again ’. It’s about always feeling like you’re doing something wrong. It reminds me of when I was young and it was Saturday morning and my mum would wake me up because she didn’t want me to sleep in and waste my day. It made me feel guilty for the rest of my life.

“Em also wrote a song about the band and our relationship, and trying to evolve or grow with people who you’ve known for so long.”

Warpaint review – spellbinding symbiosis from a band of true agility

Belgrave Music Hall, Leeds Strong new songs are welcomed warmly by the faithful as the quartet’s easy rapport gives each member the chance to shine

“T his is not a record store,” quips Emily Kokal, surveying the crowd. As artists strive to shift copies, in-store album launch shows have become something of an obligation; a short showcase of new wares generally delivered in stripped-back arrangements. Nearly two decades into their career, Warpaint make it clear that they will be doing no such thing. This is an opportunity to really revel in one another’s company, to celebrate their latest release with low-pressure intimacy and warmth.

In a room of committed attendees, new cuts are welcomed greedily. They begin with origin song Stars and quickly move on to Champion , the lead single from Radiate Like This (the new album, released today). Cutting through their trademark moody grooves, it has a lovely upbeat glitter, an invitation to embrace your inner cheerleader. Melting is delivered beautifully a capella, small flickers of calypso snaking around the four-part harmony: “No more armour / no anxiety.” There are refreshingly few phones in the air, fans preferring to capture the moment in their loosening limbs.

The delight of a Warpaint live show is truly in the detail. All four members seem to untie complex knots from their instruments, working with the spellbinding agility of expert Rubik’s cubers. The rhythm duo of Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass) and Stella Mozgawa (drums) are particularly accomplished, providing the sturdy current beneath Kokal’s and Theresa Wayman’s more experimental vocal/guitar waves. Old favourite Love Is to Die still elicits the biggest cheer but Disco/Very is an aptly named closer, much more dynamic live than it is on record.

All good bands can learn to sound polished with time, but the communication in Warpaint feels more instinctual, a sisterly symbiosis that allows each member to shine without diminishing the lustre of the whole. It’s a difficult trick to get right, much less to perform it with this much calm and cool.

The LA band Warpaint was not, of course, able to tour for the past two years. But the time did give its members – singer and guitarist Emily Kokal, bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg, guitarist and singer Theresa Wayman and drummer Stella Mozgawa – a chance to put the finishing touches on a fourth album, Radiate Like This , out today.

Morning Edition 's Rachel Martin spoke to Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman from member station KCRW in Santa Monica, Calif. about learning how to parent while an active musician, what they've learned about that process from one another and the one song on the new album that's their favorite (spoiler, it's "Hips" ).
