The Nike Air Max 1 “Safari” Receives A “Summit White” Makeover

Nike has already begun laying down the groundwork for Air Max Day 2023, as official images have revealed several upcoming additions to the line-up. Even the Air Max 1 “Safari” — arguably one of the silhouette’s most prolific offerings — will be joining in on the fun, doing so this time in a simpler, “Summit White” colorway.

Surfacing amidst a number of new reveals — the Dunk Low “UNLV Satin,” Terminator Low “Liberté,” and AJ1 Low OG EX “Sail,” to name a few — this newest take on the Air Max 1 “Safari” lacks the color variety of its many predecessors. Save for a few touches of blue, the shoe is mainly comprised of neutrals. “Summit White,” for starters, makes up a great deal of the colorway, painting the leather through the upper as well as the laces, lining, and midsole. The Safari print, too, is understated, opting for a grey finish similar to prior appearances.

Nike Sportswear will be expanding their women’s lineup with this new Nike Air Max 1 Safari “Summit White” colorway for Spring 2023.

Dressed in a Summit White, Phantom, Sail, Photon Dust, Light Smoke Grey, and Cobalt Bliss color scheme. This offering of the Nike Air Max 1 comes constructed in a mix of tumbled leather and mesh materials detailed with safari print on the Swooshes and mudguards. Cobalt Bliss contrasting accents on the upper eyelets and rubber outsole completes the design.

Check out the photos below, and look for the women’s Nike Air Max 1 Safari “Summit White” to release on March 3rd at select retailers and Nike.com. The retail price tag is set at $150 USD.

  AIR MAX 95 : L'HISTOIRE DE SA CONCEPTION  

Le modèle emblématique de Nike sera imaginé par Sergio Lozano, jeune footwear designer de la gamme ACG (All Condition Gear) en 1995, sa silhouette avant-gardiste puise son inspiration dans l’anatomie humaine : la semelle intercalaire représente la colonne vertébrale, les parties latérales représentant les couches musculaires et les lacets les côtes . C’est la première Air Max a posséder une unité Air qui couvre l’avant et l’arrière du pied. pour un confort et un amorti optimal.  Elle connaîtra un succès fulgurant à l’international notamment au  Japon  et sera même la paire préférée des cambrioleurs au  Royaume-Uni . Lors de la conception du modèle, Lozano présenta plusieurs croquis à l'illustre créateur de la Air Max 1  et de la Air Max 90 , le grand Tinker Hatfield.   À ce moment, le parrain de la sneakers lui rétorquera : " Ok c’est un bon design, mais quelle est ton histoire ? ". C'est alors à ce moment que Lozano retravaillera ses croquis et trouvera son inspiration dans l'anatomie humaine.   Cette inspiration audacieuse demandait une empeigne composée de plusieurs couches, avec du daim synthétique, cousu et moulé pour un maintien optimal qui ne faiblit pas avec le temps.  Les couches supérieures en mesh apportent de la respirabilité sur tout le dessus du pied à l'instar des œillets de la Air Max 95, conçus pour maintenir le pied du dessus à la midsole. Les coloris OG de la basket sauront séduire toute une génération de sneakerhead. On peut citer l'édition Neon, toute première Air Max 95 aux détails réfléchissants qui se pare de touches de jaune fluo, en référence à l’heritage running de Nike. S'en suit alors la magnifique édition Grape, à la structure blanche et grise, complétée de détails bleu et violet. 

LES COLLABORATIONS AIR MAX 95 LES PLUS TENDANCES  

Silhouette ayant un fort succès au Japon, c'est tout naturellement que Atmos, shop populaire de Tokyo, nous offrira une superbe édition Animal en 2005 puis en 2018. Cette édition spéciale de la Air Max 95 compte pas moins de 6 matériaux différents sur le upper, entre cuir à imprimé léopard et ponytail. S'en suit alors une collaboration avec Kim Jones, directeur artistique de la maison Dior Homme qui retravaillera deux modèles de 95 : la Total Orange et la Black Volt aux inspirations rétro running des années 90. Au même moment, la marque au swoosh s'associe avec New Line Cinema sur la Air Max 95 Freddy Krueger , en référence à la mystérieuse Nike Dunk SB Freddy Krueger de 2007 qui ne sera jamais commercialisée. Dans un esprit workwear, l'iconique label Carhartt nous dévoile la Air Max 95 WIP Camo aux détails inspirés du vêtement de travail américain. Apres ses Air Max 98 , le label emblématique du streetwear new-yorkais, Supreme, ne manque pas à l'appel avec la Air Max 95 Lux, spécialement conçue dans un cuir Made In Italy à la finition premium. En 2020, la marque japonaise Comme Des Garçons nous offre sa version déstructurée de la basket à travers les yeux de Rei Kawakubo. En 2022, c'est sur la Air Max 97 que la créatrice japonaise décide de travailler pour notre plus grand bonheur !

Moscow's Cityscape Inspires Special-Edition Nike Sneakers

Nike has drawn inspiration from Moscow’s towering housing blocks and industrial landscape for the “Smoke Gray” design of its commemorative sneakers.

2020 marks 30 years since the release of the Air Max 90, anointed “one of the greatest sneakers of all time” by style standard-bearer GQ.

Nike's special-edition Air Max 90s, which pay homage to the Russian capital with a city-inspired color scheme and Cyrillic text, go on sale in select Moscow retailers and online this Saturday.

The new design is a nod to the Air Max 90 becoming “the first Nike sneaker to be widely recognized in Russia,” the company said in its announcement. 

The Smoke Gray color scheme symbolizes Moscow’s “construction and the city’s fall sky,” while infrared and laser blue elements “reflect the city’s night lights.”

“ The Nike Air Max 90 Moscow upper, made of classic leather and suede, also features reflective touches to signify the futuristic aesthetic of the skyscrapers that shifted the city's skyline ,” it said.

The words skorost’ and gorod (Russian for “speed” and “city”) have been emblazoned on the shoe’s heel and sockliner to “ refer to the dynamic rhythm of the megalopolis .”

The Air Max 90 city pack released earlier in 2020 also pays tribute to New York and its firefighters, Paris and its bakers, London and its mail carriers, Tokyo and its construction workers, as well as Shanghai and its delivery service workers.

Nike Heads to Russia for Air Max 90 "Moscow"

Inspired by the city’s history and architecture..

Nike has continued the Air Max 90 ‘s 30th anniversary celebrations by releasing a special-edition version inspired by Moscow. The decision to honor the Russian city is a reference to the Air Max 90s popularity in the country, becoming the first Nike sneaker to be widely recognized across Russia.

The design of the sneaker is inspired by Moscow’s rich history and modern architecture, with a “Smoke Gray” colorway chosen as a nod to buildings across the city and the fall sky. Elsewhere, “Infrared” and “Lazer Blue” details pay tribute to Moscow’s night lights, while reflective touches bring to mind the skyscrapers across the skyline.
