For those who travel in a group or family (up to 4 persons) there are group tickets, which provide discounts up to 40%. The tickets are valid on the day of issue only and can be purchased at any Airport Express Customer Service Centre (except AsiaWorld-Expo Station)

Free MTR Connections

Passengers who paid their rides on the Airport Express by Octopus Card can enjoy free MTR connections (including rides to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau stations) within one hour. Click here for more information.

Free In-town Check-in Service

Before getting back to the airport after the trip or holiday you can take advantage of the free in-town check-in service at the Hong Kong and Kowloon stations. This service is available for most of airlines, except few. Passengers can check-in their luggage and get boarding passes in advance from one full day as the earliest time to 90 minutes as the latest time. It is very convenient if your flight at night or early morning. You may check-in up to 24 hours prior to departure (depending of an airline) and enjoy the remaining time. The service hours of check-in counters at the aforementioned stations are from 5:30am to 12:30am. If you use Octopus, the fare for the Airport Express journey will be deducted when you enter the check-in area. There is no further deduction when you pass through the platform entry gates to board the train. The list of airlines providing in-town check-in service is available here .

Left Baggage Service

This service is provided at the following stations: Tsing Yi Station, Kowloon Station and Hong Kong Station. Service Hours: 6:00am – 1:00am daily. Service Charge: - Up to 3 hours: HK$40 per piece of luggage. - 3-24 hours: HK$55 per piece of luggage. - 24-48 hours: HK$130 per piece of luggage. - Each subsequent 24 hours or part thereof: HK$80 per piece of luggage. The piece of luggage is a luggage with dimensions 85cm x 85cm x 29cm or below and with weight 30kg or below. The charge for an oversized or overloaded luggage will be calculated separately.

- Airport Express Travel Pass is for tourists ONLY, who have been in Hong Kong for less than 14 days at the time of purchase.

Hints & Tips

- If you are planning to stay in Hong Kong for 3 or more days, it is a good idea to buy an Octopus Card or Airport Express Travel Pass instead of using the single journey tickets.

Taoyuan Airport MRT (Airport Express): Times, Prices and Tips

The Taoyuan Airport MRT – sometimes known as the Airport Express – is the quickest way to travel between Taoyuan Airport and Taipei Main Station.

The express trains run from both terminals every 15 minutes , and take approximately 36 minutes to travel in either direction.

The trains are very comfortable and have free 4G WiFi available and USB charging ports.

A single fare (no returns available) will cost NT$160 .

Tokens can be purchased from machines or the information booth directly before the MRT turnstiles. Both these only accept cash payments.

Alternatively, you can pay for the Airport MRT with an Easycard for the same price as a token (see General Tips section for more info).

You can save money if you purchase a token on Klook beforehand, where you can also get a return ticket for a better saving (valid for 60 days).

The Taoyuan Airport MRT station is easy to find from both terminals as it’s well signed and is just a 10 minute walk from either Arrival hall.

Just follow the purple signs for the ‘Taoyuan Airport MRT’, which is located 2 levels down from the arrival halls.

The express trains will depart from Taoyuan Airport every 15 minutes from 05:55, with the last train departing at 22:58.

• Terminal 1 – 00:13 / 00:28 / 00:43 / 00:58 minutes past each hour
• Terminal 2 – 00:10 / 00:25 / 00:40 / 00:55 minutes past each hour

Note that there is also a commuter train service that runs on the same line as the Taoyuan Airport MRT. This takes around 1 hour and is less comfortable, so it’s preferable to take the express service.

The Express trains will have a purple stripe along the side (and purple seating), whereas the commuter trains will be blue .

Before you take the express train to the city, I would advise getting the following:

• Taiwan SIM card

An Easycard is the most convenient way to pay for the Taoyuan Airport MRT, and you’ll want one if you’re using the city MRT afterwards (it offers a 20% discount for all rides).

In both terminals, the Taoyuan Airport MRT service booth will sell Easycards, and can be found immediately after the final customs check, in the arrival halls.

You can also return your Easycard here at the end of your trip for a refund.

These are open from 08:00 – 21:30.

If you arrive outsides of these times, you will need to buy a token just before the entrance of the Taoyuan Airport MRT station.

You can later purchase an Easycard from any of the other locations on the Easycard page .

Taiwan SIM Card

The SIM card deals at the airports are generally much better than those in the city, so I would recommend you purchase one before you travel to Taipei.

The SIM card booths will close between 22:00 and 00:00 depending on the booth. If you arrive outside of these times, you’ll need to purchase one from the city.

When heading back to the airport after your holiday, you’ll need to get to the Taoyuan Airport MRT near Taipei Main Station.

Taipei Main is a huge place, so it could take you 15-20 minutes to walk there. If you’re in a hurry, I would recommend getting a taxi instead, as it will take you directly to the Airport MRT station.

Be aware that the train service to Taoyuan will either be signed:

• Taoyuan Airport MRT
• Airport Express

Both the signs will have a purple train symbol:

Again, you can use your Easycard to pay for the express service, otherwise you can purchase a token from one of the machines in the area.

Taipei Main to Taoyuan Airport Times

The express train will depart from Taipei Main station every 15 minutes from 06:00, with the last train departing at 23:00.

In other words, they’ll depart 00:00 / 00:15 / 00:30 / 00:45 minutes past each hour.

Try to catch the express train rather than the commuter train, as they are much faster and more comfortable.

Taipei Main Station In-Town Check-In Facility

The Taoyuan Airport MRT station at Taipei Main also has an In-Town Check-In facility for certain airlines. This very handy facility allows you to check-in early for your flight, plus you can leave your checked-in luggage here.

This is located on B1 directly above the Taoyuan Airport MRT station and will be signed In-Town Check-In Area .

You need to be here at least 3 hours before departure to take advantage of it.

The airlines that support this Check-In facility are:

• China Airlines
• EVA Airways
• Cathay Pacific Airways

The check-in facility is only available between 06:00 and 21:30 .

If you have any purchased goods requiring a Tax Refund, there is a refund desk very close by

General Tips when Travelling back to Airport

All trains will stop off at both terminals – Terminal 1 first. Make sure you know which Terminal you are travelling to.

When you arrive at Taoyuan Airport, don’t forget to return your Easycard to the Information Desk for a refund.

You can also use the tax refund desk to claim any rebates on large purchases you’ve made during your stay. There is a tax refund booth at both terminals, and there’s also one near the Taoyuan Airport MRT station at Taipei Main. See this post for locations and more details.

Check to see if your flight is on time from their flight departure web page

If your flight arrives or departs outside of the Airport Express operating hours, you have a couple of options:

• Airport Express Bus

A taxi will normally set you back between NT$1,000–1,200 and will take about 45 minutes to travel between Taipei Main Station and Taoyuan Airport (depending on the traffic).

You can easily arrange a taxi at either terminal in Taoyuan Airport.

Alternatively, there will be loads of Uber drivers waiting near the airport. Their prices will generally be 15% less than taxis.

• TyMetro-train
• There are 2 other stops for the express train between the airport terminals and Taipei Main Station (purple line). The commuter train has several other stops and therefore much slower

• There are luggage racks in all train carriages
• USB charging plugs can be found in the arm rests of all seats on the express trains

A drive from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to the city centre (Saint Basil’s Cathedral / Red Square) takes 1 hour and 20 minutes, the distance is 45 kilometres / 28 miles. The distance to the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) is 22 kilometres.

You have several travel options to and from Moscow Domodedovo Airport, the fastest way is the Aeroexpress. The comfortable high-speed train takes you in about 45 minutes to Paveletsky Station, one of the main railway stations of Moscow in the south of the city. Twice per hour, there is a train to the city and vice versa. At metro station Paveletskaya, you can take metro line 2 to the centre of Moscow, the journey time to metro station Teatralnaya in the city centre is only 5 minutes.

Aeroexpress tickets Tickets are available at the Aeroexpress counters and ticket machines at the stations. An Aeroexpress ticket including a ride with the metro, tram or (trolley) bus costs 560 RUB, a separate metro ticket costs 55 RUB. SAVING TIPS: Tickets can be bought at the airport, but online it is easier and cheaper (450 RUB one way, 900 RUB return). A group ticket can be used by four people and costs 1,100 RUB for a single journey and 1,800 RUB for a return (valid for 30 days). The price is the same online and from the ticket machine. Aeroexpress trains run without stopping, besides you can use free WiFi aboard since early 2015.

Bus and metro to Moscow

A journey by public transport (bus and metro) to the centre of Moscow takes more time but will save you money in comparison to the train Aeroexpress. Bus line 308 runs between the bus terminal at Moscow Domodedovo Airport and metro station Domodedovskaya. The shuttle bus departs every 15 minutes between 06.00 hours and 00.00 hours, travel time is 30 to 40 minutes. During the night, the bus runs every 40 minutes. A ticket costs 150 RUB and is available from the bus driver, luggage is free of charge.

From metro station Domodedovskaya you can take metro line 2 to metro station Teatralnaya in the historical centre of the city, travel time is 30 minutes. Metro line 2 (Zamoskvoretskaya) is one of the busiest subway lines in Moscow. The price for a metro ticket is 55 RUB, that means the price for a trip from the airport to your hotel is 205 RUB. How to get from Domodedovo Airport (DME) to central Moscow

The Domodedovo International Airport outside Moscow

1. Aeroexpress

The fastest way to get from this airport to the center of Moscow is the Aeroexpress train, which has a station right in the airport building. With no traffic on the way, you’ll arrive at the Paveletskaya train station in 45 minutes, and from there you can get on the metro (Circle line), from which it’s convenient to go anywhere in the city.

The first train leaves Domodedovo at 5:15 a.m., and the last departs 12:30 a.m. Tickets on the Aeroexpress go for 500 rubles ($8) at the ticket office and 420 rubles ($6.7) online. You can buy tickets in advance via the website aeroexpress.ru , or download the app .

* During the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ football fans attending Moscow matches will be able to travel on the Aeroexpress free of charge, and there will be extra night trains. Check out the website for more information.

2. Suburban train

An elektrichka from the airport is your unique chance to feel the atmosphere of Russia’s suburban train culture, almost how Veniamin Yerofeyev depicted it in his book, Moscow-Petushki . The travel time is longer than with Aeroexpress – about 1 hour and 10 minutes, but the price is much lower: 110 rubles ($1.7).

Bus is a cheaper way to get to Moscow but you never know how heavy traffic might be. Another disadvantage is that the bus only goes to a metro station at the end of the line, near the city limits, so you’ll need another 30 minutes to reach the city center.

Bus No. 308, or marshrutka mini bus No 308, costs 120 rubles ($2) and $1 for luggage. The bus runs from 6 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. at 30-minute intervals, and from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. at 40-minute intervals. Travel time is around 30-40 minutes.

There is also a bus connecting Domodedovo with Kolomna, Lukhovitsy and Ryazan for 400-600 rubles ($6-10). Maximum travel time is 3.5 hours and the bus runs five times a day (at 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.).

If you arrive at night and don’t want to wait for a night bus, then take a taxi. But don’t take one that’s already at the airport because they charge 5,000 rubles ($80) and more; in fact, the ride should cost no more than 2,000 rubles ($30).

There are several services and apps to help you book a taxi in advance and the price is fixed no matter how long you spend in traffic jams:

- Uber is available in Moscow

- Yandex Taxi (the app works in many languages)

- Gett Taxi (works in Russian, English and Hebrew)

- City Mobil (available in English).

The last two are available for booking in advance, but there are usually many cars in the vicinity of the airport that’ll pick you up in 5-10 minutes. When you arrive at the airport you can get online with free WiFi in the terminal and book a car. They’ll probably ask you to call after passing through border control because waiting in front of the airport is free only for the first 15 minutes, and then it’s quite expensive.

5. Car sharing

Several car-sharing companies are available at Domodedovo. You need an ID, driver’s license, credit card and a smartphone. You’ll need to sign a contract with a company in order to access its vehicle (you can also do this online). The leading companies are: Delimobil ( click here to find more about access at the airport); Yandex Drive (available in English on Google Play ); and BelkaCar ( works only in Russian ). You should download an app in advance to find the nearest car.

5. Rent a car

All major car rental companies can be found at Domodedovo: Sixt , Europcar , Avis , and Rentalcars . You can rent a car online or by visiting the rental office. Booking in advance doesn’t influence the price much but it does provide a greater choice of car models.
