7-Day Ireland to Island Small Group Tour of Ireland

I have never been on a bus tour before but the amazing experience I had under the guidance of Finn made the whole adventure something l will be talking about to everyone in Australia . Finn didn’t have to sell Ireland to me, this country is beautiful through photos, film, documentaries and had me wanting to come. What Finn did though his passion and love brought knowledge of the highest level. Any experience he offered us he would always make us aware of the best photo opportunity or take it for us. He advised us on music and food suggestions, that never let us down. The thing I found most valuable was his awareness of each travelers’ needs and always made our safety the utmost importance. I adventured out of my comfort zone and did this knowing I felt very safe because of Finn’s good advise, this allowed me to get the full experience available to me though Overland Ireland Tours…Skellig Michael steps, kayaking or biking riding the Aran Islands memories that will last forever with me.

Wild South - Multi-Day - Small Group Tour of Ireland Tour

Wild South - Multi-Day - Small Group Tour of Ireland

There really aren't proper words to describe how incredible this tour was. My wife and I returned nearly 4 months ago and we have thought and talked about this trip nearly every day. We saw so many magical, mystical, emotion-evoking things that it's hard to even comprehend. From ancient ruins where High Kings were crowned, to watching passersby while having great food and drinks at a street side cafe, to walking along a serene riverfront, to sipping tea while watching the sunset from a castle, to enjoying superb cocktails with new friends in an amazing library bar. And, that, was just the first day! Experiences like feeling gale force winds against your face, as you stand next to a lighthouse on top of rocky cliffs that plunge down into the cold North Atlantic, are followed by strolls down winding streets lined with quaint shops, before ducking into a pub to enjoy some of the best musicians, fine ales or whiskies, delicious meals, and the nicest, friendliest people in the world. The accommodations were perfect and allowed us to get a good night's rest everywhere we went. And, the included breakfasts were sublime and filling, which was needed for days full of activities. Activities like walking through morning fog so thick that you could barely see your outstretched hand, before the fog began to lift and we were treated to the breathtaking views from the Cliffs of Moher along with the sounds of buskers playing the uilleann pipes. Just to start the day. We trekked through lush forests to see pristine waterfalls, lochs, mansions, and the haunting Muckross Abbey, believed to have inspired Irish author Bram Stoker in his writing of Dracula! We traveled the scenic Ring of Kerry, visited Molly Gallivans to learn about the history of weaving woolen sweaters and their importantly identifiable patterns, and even sample some locally made honey mead and poitin (Irish moonshine)! We walked barefoot on beaches, saw Clydesdale horses, sang songs, shared stories, and had the most amazing time. If you're a Star Wars fan reading this review, then I haven't even told you the best part. While some members of our group chose to stay on land and tour Valentia Island, we took a small boat, optional tour, out to the Skellig Islands (you know, where Rey and Chewbacca went to find Luke Skywalker in hiding)!!! We saw thousands of endangered birds that use one of the two islands as a sanctuary, and were joined along the way by a pod of many dolphins racing with our boat and jumping out of the water all around us! Cows, sheep, horses, cows, sheep, cows, and sheep. Did I mention cows and sheep? Ireland is a relatively small country. It's only 175 miles wide and 300 miles long. It has a population of 5 million people. It also has 5.5 million sheep and over 7 million cows. Wow! I haven't even mentioned Galway, Clonmacnoise, Puck the Goat King, the Charlie Chaplin statue, the Ford Model T statue, the scenic towns of Dingle and Lahinch, many more lighthouses, and so much more! All along the way, we learned a lot about the history and culture of this beautiful country from our fantastic tour guides, Andy and Diarmuid. You guys ROCK! We can't wait to visit again!!!

Introduction to Ireland Tour

Introduction to Ireland

We had a great time with Globus, Jonathan our guide, and Norman our driver. The value of the tour is very high. Breakfast and many dinners, high quality, clean, and comfortable hotels, excellent food, so many additional tours and sites to see are included. The guide was so knowledgeable about where we were, what we are seeing, and what we should not miss at each site. We were able to do things like a sheep farm tour with scone cooking, behind the scenes tours at castles or Waterford Crystal. We never would have even known about so many things to do and see in Ireland. We made so many friends on this trip and everyone we traveled with was positive and ready to have fun. We will definitely be traveling with Globus again.

Emerald Isle Tour

Emerald Isle

This was an excellent way to see a lot of the Republic of Ireland in a short period of time. Personally I felt too long was spent in Blarney; for those who didn’t want to kiss the stone the only alternative was shopping or eating and it was too early for the latter.

The Best Of Ireland Tour

The communication/paperwork could use a little fine tuning, but overall the value was definitely there. This tour brings you through absolutely spectacular areas of Ireland, with enough downtime to not feel too rushed. The hotels/food was nicer than we expected for the price.

5-Day Escape to the South West Small-Group Tour from Dublin

This tour was excellent! Our tour guide Peter was so knowledgeable and taught us so much about Ireland. We are thinking of going back to do Northern Ireland and Scotland.

What people love about Fully Guided Tours in Ireland

The entire trip was wonderful, very well organized, and satisfying. Peter Flood was an excellent tour guide. He was as knowledgeable as could be, funny, and helpful; and really seems to love what he does.
Small Bus touring is the way to go!
Mike was amazing! We had such a great group of people, Mike was so full of knowledge about the history and culture of Ireland, and it was so laid back. We got to explore each destination at a leisurely pace and enjoyed most evenings checking out the local bars. Highly recommend!

Linda, United States

Scenic ireland, september 2022, excellent tour.

Chris, our Nordic Visitor Travel Consultant, was very responsive to every email that I sent and answered any questions that I had. We had 4 in our group and it was simple to have 2 single rooms and 1 double and add days at the beginning and the end of our trip just from their website. A welcome package was waiting for us at our first hotel that included detailed information about our trip and a map with highlighted roads and points of interest along the way. Our accommodation ranged from small boutique hotels to resort hotels. Each was close to the city centre and excellent! Breakfast was included each morning which made it easy to get going. It was nice to have our accommodation and car secured for us so we only worried about where we were going to explore each day! We highly recommend Nordic Visitor and will definitely use them in the future!

Vivienne, Australia

Wild atlantic way at leisure, august 2022, very enjoyable itinerary.

We were very happy that a really good map of Ireland was provided, which had our hotels highlighted, with the dates annotated, and our route and recommended places of interest also highlighted. Most hotels were centrally located and we had some lovely accommodation. The "Wild Atlantic Way" itinerary was really enjoyable, we were directed to some marvellous places & have some great memories. Our bound copy of the guide, together with the Touring Map of Ireland, are great mementoes of a wonderful holiday.

Judy, United States

Classic scotland & ireland, august 2022, everything felt very personal.

Nordic Visitor was great. Having a personal tour organiser made everything feel very personal, like we had a close associate looking after us. Every T was crossed and every I was dotted with the organisation by Nordic Visitor. Every one of the places we stayed in was beyond expectations. The boutique hotel in Dublin was amazing. My favourite was the Inn in Inverness and the lovely innkeeper Gail. The breakfasts were delicious. Loved our little hybrid car in Scotland. Everyone was so friendly. I called the 24 hour number once and was promptly helped with my inquiry. Good job Nordic Visitor and Chris!

Debra, United States

Grand tour of scotland & ireland, september 2022, highly recommend.

This is the second time we have used Nordic Visitor and we were as pleased this time as we were on the trip we booked with them in Iceland. I would recommend them highly!

Martin, United States

Complete ireland, october 2022, flawless experience.

Our travel consultant Rebecca was fabulous. She accommodated us in modifying our schedule at no charge after my wife's mother's death. She cheerfully changed our Dublin hotel to a more central location and always responded quickly to any questions or concerns. We are planning a Scotland trip in 2023 again using Nordic Visitor and hope to have Rebecca again. In 2021 we used Nordic Visitor for a 2-week driving Iceland trip that was also flawless.

William, United States

Grand tour of scotland & ireland, august 2022, unforgettable experience.

Communication via email and telephone was very good. Everyone at Nordic Visitor was helpful. Tour package was clear with good suggestions for activities and restaurants. Accommodation was beautiful and comfortable. Driving through Scotland & Ireland was unforgettable.

Janis, United States

Grand tour of ireland, september 2022, excellent in giving us guidance through the planning stage.

We were independent travellers and used Nordic Visitor only for car rental and booking hotels in the areas we wanted to visit. Nordic Visitor was excellent in giving us guidance through the planning stage and we felt very comfortable knowing they had our back if we ran into trouble! The information packet was extremely helpful as it clearly gave us options to consider during the trip along with the Heritage Card pass. We personally booked a couple of tours just so we could stop driving and sit back and enjoy the scenery. Great job!

David, United States

Wonderful tour.

Our tour was the "Grand Tour of Ireland" which Nordic Visitor customised for us to include additional nights in places such as Achill Island (our favorite spot!). The highlighted map and other travel materials we received from Nordic Visitor were extremely helpful. Overall we had a wonderful tour!

Stephanie, United States

Ireland east to west, march 2023, a great experience.

Overall, we had a great experience. Anytime we had questions our advisor did a great job answering them in a timely manner. In country, we only had to call customer service one time, when the accommodation had misplaced our welcome packet. The agent on call worked with the hotel and they found it and she called back to confirm that we had everything we needed.

Laura, United States

Complete scotland & ireland, september 2022, overall we had a wonderful time.

We had a great experience, had to call a few times to clarify issues and we were always able to talk with a real person. We received our info about 3 weeks before leaving. I felt we needed more time to review all the info since it was a 17-day trip. Overall we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this company.

Genevieve, Canada

Classic scotland & ireland, september 2022, everything was set up for us.

The tour was very pleasant since every aspect was already taken care of. Rental cars, accommodation, day tours, airport transfers - we appreciated having everything already set up for us, thank you.

Candice, United States

Classic scotland & ireland, october 2022, a trip of a lifetime.

Chris and the team were wonderful and beyond accommodating. My daughter and I contracted Covid the original day we were to leave the United States. Nordic Visitor was incredible! They cancelled everything and worked closely with us to reschedule. And the service didn't end there. Once on the trip, if I had any questions they were right there to help us. I highly recommend Nordic Visitor. The itinerary provided to us mapped out the highlights of the area we were in, but we were still able to make any detours if we saw something we might want to visit. This was a "trip of a lifetime" for me and Nordic Visitor certainly helped to make it possible. Chris listened to what I wanted and guided me in the right direction.

Terri, United Kingdom

Wonders of ireland, september 2022.

Absolutely excellent tour bus driver!

Kenneth, Canada

Ultimate tour of scotland & ireland, september 2022, extremely satisfied with all aspects of the tour.

Extremely satisfied with all aspects of the tour. Very professional and thorough. The maps and guide book were invaluable and made the tour very easy to navigate. Locations of accommodation were superb, all near restaurants, attractions and shopping.

Gabrielle, United States

Responsive and helpful staff.

Nordic Visitor staff was responsive and provided helpful, detailed information (even before we chose our tour). Their correspondence to our enquiries was one of the reasons why we decided to go with Nordic Visitor when we made our final decision. It was very helpful to have our accommodation, rental cars and airport transportation services pre-arranged.

Getting to Ireland

Ireland has 10 airports, with the three main international ports being: Dublin, Cork and Shannon. Unless customised to begin elsewhere, all Nordic Visitor tours in Ireland start and end in Dublin, the capital city.

Flight times to Ireland are, for example, 6 hours from New York City or Boston and 1.5 hours from London. Major international airlines with flights to Ireland include (but are not limited to) Aer Lingus, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, United Airlines, Ryanair, and KLM.

The Republic of Ireland is on GMT time. If your journey involves one or more connecting flights, or if you're crossing several time zones to get here, your dedicated Nordic Visitor travel consultant can add extra nights in Dublin to your package so you can rest up after arrival.

Please note that your flights to Ireland are not included in Nordic Visitor packages. However, if you have booked a combination tour of Scotland and Ireland, we include flight costs between the two countries in the package price.

IDEAS FOR ALL-INCLUSIVE IRELAND TOURS

Immerse yourself in the landscapes and historical landmarks of Ireland on an all-inclusive tour. You could explore lively Irish cities and charming countryside as you take in the culture, history and beauty of the Emerald Isle.

Get to know the buzzing Irish capital, Dublin, before heading for the breathtaking Atlantic coast. You could explore Northern Ireland, the Wild Atlantic Way, and the rolling green countryside on your vacation.

Discover famous Irish castles and historic buildings across the country. Don’t miss a visit to Trinity College in Dublin where you can see the ancient Book of Kells. Marvel at the impressive Blarney Castle in County Cork where you can kiss the Blarney Stone.

All our tours include top highlights like these, as well as more off-the-beaten-path stops.

Imagine yourself wandering through ancient Celtic monuments, going for a walk on the emerald hills, and learning about Gaelic culture. You could sit in a typical pub tasting the local brew and listening to live Irish music.

Want to go on an Ireland road trip?

We recommend at least 6 to 8 days to make the most of a self-drive or guided road trip around Ireland.

All our tours set off from Dublin and include top attractions such as the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, and Blarney Castle.

Choose a self-drive itinerary if you want the most flexibility. This way, you’ll have the freedom to pull the car over at any attractions or breathtaking views.

Or pick a small group or privately guided tour if you want to learn from a knowledgeable local guide along the way.

Here’s an example of a one-week Ireland itinerary :

  • Day 1 – Arrive in Dublin and explore the Irish capital.
  • Day 2 – Head for the west coast. Spend the night in Galway.
  • Day 3 – Explore Connemara or the Aran Islands. Overnight in Galway.
  • Day 4 – See the Cliffs of Moher. Overnight in Killarney.
  • Day 5 – Tour the Ring of Kerry. Overnight in Killarney.
  • Day 6 – Visit historic sites before returning to Dublin.
  • Day 7 – Depart from Dublin Airport.

The best part? You won’t have to worry about where you’re going or sleeping, because your Nordic Visitor travel consultant will plan the trip for you and sort all the details before you arrive.

As well as reserving your accommodation and arranging local transport for your trip, we can book activities to fill your days with more adventures. We cater to all tastes, whether you want to visit a whiskey distillery, discover the national parks, or journey to windswept islands.

You’ll also have access to our 24/7 emergency helpline should you need to call us at any point.

  • Browse our Ireland self-drive , small group and private guided packages  when you’re ready to plan your ideal tour

Want to stay longer?

If you want to slow down the pace and take in more Irish attractions, we highly recommend extending your tour to at least 10 days .

It’s easy to start planning your tour! Pick the amount of time you want to stay in Dublin and then decide how many days you want to spend discovering the island.

The possibilities are endless when visiting Ireland. With 10 days or longer, you could enjoy a more in-depth travel experience. Follow the Wild Atlantic Way route or pop into Northern Ireland for a complete tour of the island.

All of Nordic Visitor’s Ireland tour packages can be tailored by our travel experts. On self-drive itineraries, they can add extra nights at select locations or modify the driving routes if you have any particular attractions in mind. And you can tailor guided itineraries by extending your stay in Dublin at the start or end of the escorted part of your trip. Just ask!

Interested in visiting Northern Ireland?

As you may already know, the island of Ireland is made up of two countries. The Republic of Ireland, which is an independent nation, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom (along with England, Scotland and Wales).

While they are two different countries, they share many similarities in their history, culture and, of course, their geography. For a complete tour of the island, we recommend including Northern Ireland in your itinerary. This way you could get to know the Emerald Isle and see all its beauty in depth.

You won’t want to miss the capital Belfast, the Antrim Coast, and the Giant’s Causeway. You could also have a longer seaside road trip by adding Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coastal Route to your itinerary.

When is the best time to visit Ireland?

Ireland is a beautiful island to visit all year long. This means you can’t go wrong when you book your Irish getaway. That said, we recommend the summertime or its shoulder months for the best experience.

The summer, consisting of the months of June, July and August, is the high season. It is marked by long daylight hours and the most stable weather of the year. Attractions also operate under longer hours and more availability than in winter.

All of this means you can discover Ireland to your heart’s content.

However, the top attractions can be popular at this time. Indeed, Ireland attracts visitors from around the world especially in summer.

If you would rather have a quieter holiday, visit during spring or autumn. These shoulder months include April, May, September and October. During this time, you’ll find the best of both worlds: quieter attractions but plenty of daylight and good weather for exploring.

Are you keen to explore Scotland too?

Combine your Irish break with a trip around Scotland for an epic Celtic itinerary. We recommend a minimum of 10 days for an Ireland and Scotland tour , so you have enough time to get a taste of both countries.

Spend the first 4 to 10 days travelling around the rugged Highlands and islands of Scotland. Then follow that up with time to discover Ireland's jaw-dropping coastal landscapes and historic landmarks.

Scotland is a great destination to complement a tour of Ireland. Their cultures and history are so closely linked and you’ll be able to meet the locals and get immersed in both.

More about ireland.

To the west of Great Britain, the enchanting emerald green landscapes, meandering rivers, and rugged cliffs create the serene beauty that is Ireland, known as the Emerald Isle. On the east coast, Irish folklore and legends come to life in cozy pubs where warm hospitality and traditional music combine to create an authentic Irish experience in the vibrant capital, Dublin. In the harbor city of Galway on the west coast, the Salthill promenade leads to popular beaches, and in town, you'll find eateries, nightclubs, and theaters as you wander through the cobblestone streets. Situated on the northeastern shore of Lough Leane, Killarney is a popular gateway to The Ring of Kerry, a scenic southwest drive that makes its way around the Iveragh Peninsula through coastal landscapes and rural seaside villages. With a history steeped in Celtic traditions, and marked by sites such as abbeys, castles, and monuments, from the East to the West, Ireland invites visitors to immerse themselves in the warmth of its culture and explore its magical landscapes.

Day 4 Cork-Fota-Kinsale-Cork. After breakfast we make our way to Fota Wildlife Park , which is home to nearly to 50 mammals and 50 bird species. Children can feed the animals and there are interesting informational tours for adults as well. It is onto Kinsale. Kinsale in County Cork is one of the most picturesque, popular, and fashionable resorts of the south-west coast of Ireland. Famous for its beautiful yachting, sea angling, gourmet restaurants and golf. Charles Fort, a popular attraction was constructed in the late 17th century on the site of an earlier coastal fortification. Charles Fort is a classic example of a star-shaped fort and has five bastions. The two seaward bastions, the Devil’s and the Charles’ were for defending the harbor and both are casemated – that is, they have gun embrasures inside as well as on top of the walls. Desmond Castle, (French Prison) Cork Street, Kinsale, built as a custom house by the Earl of Desmond c. AD 1500. Desmond Castle has had a colorful history, ranging from Spanish occupation in 1601 to use as a prison for captured American sailors during the American War of Independence. Known locally as ‘The French Prison’ after a tragic fire in which 54 prisoners, mainly French seamen, died in 1747. The castle was also used as a borough jail from 1791 to the onset of the Great Famine when it was used as an auxiliary workhouse tending to the starving populace. Time to explore this area. We return to Cork. Overnight Cork.

Day 5 Cork-Killarney-Sheep Farm. Our next stop, Blarney Castle , is home to the blarney stone, which legend has it bequeaths the “gift of eloquence” to all who kisses it. Time to shop at the woolen mills or stop in Christy’s Pub for a Pint! Our journey takes us east over the Kerry and Cork Mountains to Macroom where we pause for a short visit. This is the main market town for the Gaelic speaking region to the west. Macroom Castle dates from the 13th century and was the seat of the McCarthy’s of Muskerry. Oliver Cromwell granted it to Admiral Sir William Penn whose namesake son spent much of his childhood here and later founded the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We arrive Killarney. Time here to explore Killarney and Killarney National Park. Here we can partake in bicycling, jaunting cart rides, or just enjoying downtown and the park. Time permitting you might also enjoy an hour of Horseback Riding at the Killarney Stables. We continue to Kenmare and Molls Gap where we visit (optional) the Kissane Sheep Farm . Overnight in Killarney

Day 6 Dingle Peninsula & Blasket Centre. Today discover the beauties of the Dingle Peninsula, made famous by David Lean’s movie, “Ryan’s Daughter” Drive along the south shore of the peninsula for plenty of vistas of heathery mountains, sandy stretches of beach and rocky headlands. There will be frequent stops at strategic locations to admire the views and take photos. Stop in the town of Dingle for some leisure time before continuing on to Slea Head at the western tip of the peninsula. Visit the Blasket Centre in Dunquin to learn about the Blasket Islands, inhabited until 1953 by hardy families who eked out a living by farming and fishing. We are intrigued by the opportunity to design using the most inspiring landscape and the wonderful tradition of the Celtic World” In 1984, a young bottle-nosed dolphin named Fungi started to appear at the mouth of Dingle Harbour. The now world-famous dolphin has remained in Dingle since and has become both a friend to the locals and a great “attraction” for visitors. We may enjoy a boat ride to view this famous creature (Boat Ride is optional) . On land Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium also has an impressive assortment of sharks, penguins, reptiles, otters, and jellyfish with interactive displays to thrill young and old.  Overnight in Killarney.

Day 7 Killarney –  Cliffs of Moher –  Traditional Irish Farm – Bunratty.  Today we take a tour of Ireland’s stony place – the Burren (Bhoireann). It is home to rare alpine plants, delicate wonders that grow in the thin soil and crevices – gentians, orchids, and maidenhair ferns amongst others. The survival of both alpine and Mediterranean plants in this unusual habitat continues to arouse and to delight its visitors. The Burren contains dozens of megalithic tombs, Celtic crosses, and a ruined Cistercian Abbey dating from the 12th century, Corcomroe. You can find villages abandoned since famine times and green roads on which you can walk for miles without ever seeing a car. Continue on and gaze at the majestic awe of the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher. The cliffs, a spectacular natural phenomenon, rise 660 feet above the Atlantic. O’Brien’s Tower is the best location from which to view the Cliffs. From this vantage point one can see the Aran Islands as well as The Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk Mountains to the north in Connemara. While in the Burren region, we may decide to stop at the Ailwee Caves, a favorite for families! As you leave the cliffs, you will travel through the little village of Liscannor and just across the bay, you will see the beautiful seaside village and golfers’ mecca, Lahinch. After touring the rugged Burren, we make our way to a traditional Irish farm, where the children can feed the animals and where we get introduced to authentic farm life. It is then onto quaint Bunratty, home of Bunratty Castle and the Bunratty Medieval folk park. Overnight Bunratty.

Day 8 Shannon Airport. Transfer on own via taxi the short distance to Shannon Airport!

From exploring the rolling hills, to enjoying a pint of Guinness and listening to traditional folk music and Viking tales with the locals, Ireland welcomes you with open arms.

Enjoy Irish folk fun

Soak up Irish folk fun in a Dublin pub, where pints swing and locals sing along, and through a Galway street performance that will have you emptying your pockets into the busker's bucket. When planning a trip to Ireland, we always plan for some spontaneous craic-filled experiences.

Explore Waterford's History

Step into Ireland’s oldest city that has seen everything from Vikings to Victorians. We will discover the legacy of invaders turned settlers, tree-forged swords, towers that still stand tall and the ancient city walls that tried to keep them out.

Journey to the magnificent Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher are a natural masterpiece reserved for the best tours of Ireland. Beaten by the Atlantic for 350 million years, these unmanicured cliffs stretch as far as the eye can see. Take in the dramatic scene as wild salt wind whips around you.

Take in Connemara's 'savage beauty'

This romantic and desolate region certainly lives up to the title bestowed upon it by Oscar Wilde. Experience nature unlike anywhere else in the world when you explore the National Park, climb Ireland’s Holy Mountain or stand on the banks of Killary, the country’s largest fjord.

Walk down Grafton Street in Dublin

The energy on Dublin’s Main Street is electric. Meander freely down the road, exploring bustling cafes and shops, stopping occasionally to be wowed by street artist performance or a musician belting out a tune.

Our top 5 things to do in Ireland

Walk through the country’s oldest city and stand on the dramatic Cliffs of Moher. These are just some of the pinch me moments we’ll share with you on our trips to Ireland.

Books of Kells

See the Book of Kells on display at the Trinity College Library in Dublin. The book is a 9th century Latin manuscript that contains the four Gospels of the life of Jesus Christ. It's the world's most famous medieval manuscript and and you'll also get to explore one of the world's most beautiful libraries.

The James Joyce Centre

The Georgian townhouse of the James Joyce Centre will deepen your understanding of one of Ireland's most celebrated writers and the Dublin that inspired him. Peruse art exhibitions, watch documentaries, see a recreation of his living quarters and let Joyce and his works come to life right in front of your eyes.

National Museum of Ireland

A museum with so much to inspire you, it spills into three separate buildings around Dublin. Stroll through their halls and admire the hoards of gold buried in Bronze Age Ireland and skeletons of the native giant elk, now extinct.

Best museums in Ireland

Ancient settlers, celebrated authors, iconic brewers. In Dublin, Trafalgar delves into Ireland’s layers of history and becomes acquainted with the people who have called it home through visits to its many museums.

Dublin coddle

Discover all the favorite ingredients of Irish cooking in one pot with tender potatoes, sausage and onions, cooked slowly in broth. As you mop up this rich and filling stew with rustic bread, you can’t help but feel content.

It’s no secret the Irish have a special place in their hearts for potatoes. This breakfast potato pancake dish is no exception. Soft, creaminess on the inside. Crisp and buttery on the outside. One plate and you'll fall in love too.

As the old saying goes, Guinness tastes better in Ireland. The beautiful dark brew is not known to travel well, making trips to Ireland incomplete without tasting it from a local tap. Better yet, head to the source and have a pint at the Dublin Storehouse.

Best food in Ireland

Ireland knows comfort. Whether it’s in a pot, on a plate or filling a pint, we'll share their national culinary treasures that will warm your heart and fill your stomach.

What to pack for Ireland

People packing for a tour

A portable charger

Entire days filled with exploration are a wonderful part of Ireland travel. Avoid the dreaded low battery by packing a portable charger so you can still capture the day with plenty of battery power on hand.

A water and windproof jacket

An umbrella won’t save you from mist, sea spray or wild Atlantic winds. Pack a water and windproof jacket and you’ll be protected from all weathers.

Waterproof shoes

Rain isn't a rarity here. Heading into the countryside you might find yourself amongst mud and puddles. Bring a pair of gumboots to really feel like a local.

Year round you are likely to need something to keep you warm in Ireland. A scarf has the added bonus of being able to protect your face if things get really chilly.

While we all like a good craic, some lively towns love weekend shenanigans with a boistrousness that can interrupt sleep. Pack a pair of earplugs to ensure you snooze soundly.

Pack for sustainable travel

Consider your environmental impact when you next take a trip and go single-use-plastic-free by packing a reusable water bottle, a steel straw, your own shopping bags and reusable toiletry bottles.

Best time for travel exploring scotland & ireland.

While just about any month is great to visit Scotland and Ireland, there are a few prime times of the year for the Exploring Scotland & Ireland tour. Here are some recommendations from our destination experts.

Spring: Springtime is a wonderful time to visit the region! The countryside comes alive with flowers and shades of green, and the days of sunlight are growing just a bit longer, giving you more time to explore.

Summer: August is the perfect time to visit Edinburgh, as the Military Tattoo and Edinburgh Festival both take place then. It’s crowded, but the city is alive with many cultural events. And generally, it’s good weather (fingers crossed for not too much rain!).

Fall: Daylight hours grow shorter, and the weather is not quite as hospitable as summer, but the changing colors of the landscape are truly lovely. Fewer crowds make it easier to navigate sites and take your time to enjoy them.

Founded in the Fifth Century by St. Kevin, the settlement would grow to be very powerful, at its zenith, some four hundred years later. 7 of the best all-inclusive experiences to book this year, from a travel planner

  • As a travel planner, my clients seem to be increasingly interested in all-inclusive trips .
  • Some of my favorite luxury resorts are in Costa Rica, the Maldives, and Isla Mujeres.
  • Cruises, group tours, and adults-only lodgings can also come with all-inclusive options.

Insider Today

As a travel planner at Marvelous Mouse Travels , I know vacations are expensive — especially if you're looking to go somewhere this summer . But all-inclusive travel is often a great way to get the most value out of a luxury experience.

I've been on several all-inclusive vacations with my family, friends, and work, and I've helped other people book them in destinations around the world .

Here are some of the best all-inclusive experiences I'm recommending to my clients this year.

Try a split-stay vacation to see the best of Costa Rica.

all inclusive tours of ireland

Costa Rica is one of the most sought-after vacations , and for good reason. It's great for both relaxation and adventure.

I recommend booking a split stay, starting at an all-inclusive resort in Guanacaste near the beach for some fun in the sun and moving to a resort near the famous Arenal Volcano for a jungle adventure.

Some of my favorite resorts in Costa Rica are the Westin Reserva Conchal and the Dreams Las Mareas. And if you're looking for an even more unique experience, check out the glorious swim-out suites with private pools at Dreams.

Baglioni Maldives is one of my favorite all-inclusive resorts.

all inclusive tours of ireland

The Maldives, a remote set of islands in the Indian Ocean, offers a plethora of resort options for couples and families, but Baglioni Maldives is my favorite.

For many in the US, getting to the islands can be daunting — there are very few direct commercial flights, and it can take almost an entire day. But it's hard to beat the country's luxury accommodations and gorgeous landscape.

The Maldives also has some of the most beautiful marine life and coveted spots for snorkeling and scuba diving.

No matter where you go, overwater bungalows are the ultimate all-inclusive splurge.

all inclusive tours of ireland

Overwater bungalows — villas standing on poles over open ocean water — are prevalent at all-inclusive resorts in destinations like the Maldives, Fiji, and Bali.

But I've also come across the luxurious accommodations at select adults-only Sandals Resorts throughout the Caribbean.

I think having a private villa on the water is the perfect way to unwind and relax.

Adults-only vacations are on the rise.

all inclusive tours of ireland

Traveling with kids can be a blast, but I also think it's important for adults to take a much-needed break on their own.

Adults-only resorts have been a total respite for me and my husband after hectic months of juggling work with our kids' school and sports schedules.

If you're looking to unwind with a partner, relax on a girls' trip, or even connect with your adult children, there are countless adults-only, all-inclusive resorts to choose from, depending on where you're looking to visit.

Some properties, including Sandals and Beaches Resorts, also offer butler service. Designated staff members can help with anything from room requests and dining reservations to cabana rentals and transportation coordination.

I upgraded to the service at my favorite adults-only spot, Le Blanc Los Cabos, and I felt totally pampered.

Isla Mujeres is pure luxury.

all inclusive tours of ireland

Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast of Cancún, is known for its crystal-clear, turquoise water and peaceful vibe. It's also home to Playa Norte, one of the best beaches in Mexico .

Impressions Isla Mujeres by Secrets is a gorgeous all-inclusive resort on the island. It offers luxury at its finest, but with only 125 rooms, it has a boutique feel.

One of my favorite features of the resort is the waterslide that leads right into the beautiful ocean.

There are plenty of all-inclusive packages at sea.

all inclusive tours of ireland

Cruising is one of the most popular vacations , whether it's an epic adventure on a Royal Caribbean Cruise, a couples-only journey on Virgin Voyages, or a regal tour of Europe on Viking River Cruises.

Although cruises aren't traditionally considered all-inclusive, with the right booking, they can have the same feel as a luxury resort.

Most cruise bookings include food, nonalcoholic drinks, and live entertainment. If you add beverage packages and excursions in advance, your trip should be fully paid for before you depart.

Book a small-group or private tour if you're looking for adventure.

all inclusive tours of ireland

Group travel is a great way to explore new places while soaking up culture and history.

Popular destinations include Italy, Japan, Costa Rica, and Alaska, and many travel companies take care of everything for you, essentially making it all-inclusive.

I like Adventures by Disney , which offers small-group travel all over the world facilitated by seasoned guides. All the trip details are taken care of, including experiences, food, lodging, and transportation.

Additionally, Kensington Tours offers luxury private travel where every facet of the trip is meticulously planned for you.
