Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra will now become the new face of Assam Tourism. The state's tourism board has roped in the celebrity as its brand ambassador.

PeeCee will travel to Guwahati on December 24, 2016, for the International Tour Operators Conclave where she will be formally appointed in her new role, confirmed Assam tourism minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma. The agreement will be valid for two years.

Priyanka will be visiting destinations in the state and will be shooting TV commercials and photo campaigns to drive the massive "Awesome Assam" campaign. The Quantico actress is, however, not charging any remuneration for her new assignment, as reported by The Financial Express.

With a global personality like Priyanka on board, Assam Tourism is now eyeing the global market to promote tourism in the state. "We will make the brand campaign of Assam Tourism global. We will carry out campaigns in the United States, England and Japan. We will target the countries with which Assam has historical ties, like England," said the tourism minister while announcing the new move. Assam Tourism weaves a spectacle with Priyanka Chopra.

Assam Tourism has launched its new multimedia campaign with its Brand Ambassador Priyanka Chopra. Shot extensively across Assam, the films capture not just the beauty of the state but its diverse and rich culture. 

The central theme of the campaign is -  ‘Once you visit Assam, it stays with you forever’  and is depicted through how PC remembers Assam and gets carried away by her memories of time spent there. The main brand film is 3.30 minute long, which will kick start the campaign on the digital medium. A 360-degree campaign will follow which will include Press, Outdoors, Radio, TV, Cinema and digital promotions.

Talking about the campaign, Mr. Kausar Hilaly, MD, ATDC said the state is all geared up to capitalise on the advent of new generation of young travellers. He said Assam the gateway to North-East offers an unparalleled experience to travelers with its rich natural and unexploited beauty and is a melting pot of different cultures. He said the focus of tourism will be on 'creating unique experiences’ instead of the usual sight-seeing experiences, which the films capture very well; for domestic as well as international travellers.

Conceived by YAAP & Crayons, the films have been written by Rondeep Gogoi (Senior Creative Director, Crayons), who incidentally is from Assam. He said the world knows Assam is beautiful, so he did not want to do just another good-looking tourism campaign. Instead he dug deep in to the arts and culture of Assam and spun a narrative, which is held together by an Assamese song regarded as the State Anthem of Assam.  

The films have been directed by Arun Gopalan and Ken Rolston of Storytellers. 

Shouvik Roy, Senior Partner, Yaap, who is heading the project said - 'Assam offers experiences that are both unique and diverse. While planning this campaign it was our priority to amplify and communicate these experiences to traveler from across the world - in a way that is both beautiful and memorable. We are working together with Assam Tourism to bring these experiences to life in multiple ways.'

The Assam government has appointed top Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra as the state’s tourism brand ambassador for two years.

The Assam government has appointed top Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra as the state’s tourism brand ambassador for two years, state finance and tourism minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said recently. Making the announcement, Sarma said while Chopra would visit Guwahati and attend a tour operators meet on December 24, she would engage in shoots for TV commercials and still photos for a “massive” tourism campaign for Assam for the next two years. “She is coming to Guwahati on December 24 when we will formally appoint her as our brand ambassador,” the minister said.

“Priyanka Chopra is beyond doubt one of the top most popular faces in India as well as abroad. She will be in contract with us as brand ambassador for two years, during which she will promote Assam tourism. She will also visit Assam several times in the next few months to take part in shoots for TV commercials and still photographs in different locations of the state,” minister Sarma said.

Sarma also said that Assam would go global in its campaign to attract tourists to the state. “We are this time not restricting our tourism campaign only within the country. Instead, we are going for a massive global campaign, particularly targeting tourists in the US, England, Japan and other such countries that have some connect with Assam,” the minister said.

Priyanka chopra roped in as brand ambassador of assam tourism.

Priyanka Chopra is flying high with her success in the West and has become a global icon. After becoming the global ambassador for UNICEF and LinkedIn earlier this year, Priyanka Chopra has bagged another big opportunity and is all set for a new venture.

Priyanka Chopra has been roped as the brand ambassador of Assam tourism and will promote brand entity of 'Awesome Assam'. The BJP led government in Assam went on a celebrity hunt from different backgrounds and had approached them. But, they ended up finalizing Priyanka Chopra as she currently the best in the business. She will now be visiting Assam on December 24 and address international tour operators meet.

Assam tourism minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday spoke to the media about Priyanka Chopra coming on board and informed that Priyanka Chopra has not charged a penny for it. He said, “We have signed an agreement with Priyanka and she is engaged as the brand ambassador of the state tourism. The agreement is for two years. The Bollywood actress will not charge anything for the brand ambassador assignment. She will charge professional charges for the work she will do in photo shoots and television commercials.”

The minister further added, “We will make the brand campaign of Assam tourism global. Television commercials, photographs will be prepared. We will carry out the campaign in United States, England, and Japan. We will target the countries with which Assam has historical ties like England.”

The tourism minister also explained that Priyanka Chopra was chosen because she is literally the best person to represent the state and they will reach a wider audience. Earlier, they had approached Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, actress Deepika Padukone. The minister said that Sachin had informed that he already has several prior commitments.

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra has wrapped up the second season of Quantico and returned to Mumbai this morning to complete her other work commitments.

The Assam government has appointed top Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra as the state’s tourism brand ambassador for two years, state finance and tourism minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said here on Monday ( December 19) . Making the announcement, Sarma said while Chopra would visit Guwahati and attend a tour operators meet on December 24, she would engage in shoots for TV commercials and still photos for a “massive” tourism campaign for Assam for the next two years. “She is coming to Guwahati on December 24 when we will formally appoint her as our brand ambassador,” the minister said.

Priyanka Chopra is definitely on fire. From being a super duper hit Bollywood actress to slaying it in Hollywood, she is no less. And it is not just about the movies and fame. Recently she became UN’s Goodwill ambassador. Is there something she can’t do?

Wait, It is not enough! After so many discussions, Priyanka Chopra is officially the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism. She signed as the official Brand Ambassador of Assam Tourism.

As per reports, there were some rumors according to which Priyanka was quoting Rs. 15 Crore for the campaign. But the results are completely different. And it seems like the rumors were actually just rumors because they are not even close to the reality.

According to the reports, the Assam Government officially confirmed signing the contract. At a press meet the officials said, Priyanka Chopra is now officially a brand ambassador for 2 years.

But the most surprising thing is that she is doing it for free. She is not charging even a single pie for becoming brand ambassador.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam Tourism Minister said in statement that, “The agreement does not have any cost. We’ll only have to pay her during shooting and also for print advertisements as she will do so by leaving aside other work”.

Priyanka Chopra, brand ambassador of Assam Tourism, accused of being indifferent to floods

Assamese model and actor Mahika Sharma is upset with popular Bollywood-Hollywood star Priyanka Chopra. In a statement issued to media organisations on Friday, she has come down heavily on Priyanka, who is also the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism, for her “silence” on the floods in the state.

The Assam floods have killed at least 49 and affected over 17.43 lakh people in 26 of the state’s 32 districts

Priyanka was appointed Assam’s tourism brand ambassador in 2016. She recently returned to Mumbai after hectic international shooting schedules. She was working on A Kid Like Jake and Isn’t It Romantic? after the release of her debut movie, Baywatch, earlier this year.

Assam Tourism Development signed Priyanka as the brand ambassador in 2016. Her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures also signed a contract with the department for promotional campaigns with the state.

Mahika said in a statement, “Priyanka is my aspiration and inspiration. She is really a humble person. But I’m very upset with her. She has certain power to help the poor victims of Assam flood. She didn’t even show any emotion for the state, even on the social networking site. This is something about which, not only me, but anyone from Assam would be upset.”

“I wish she doesn’t take my word personally but understands me and Assam people’s emotions. We are excited for her being associated with the state,” Mahika added.

Mahika has worked in FIR and films like Mardaani, Mr Joe B Carvalho. She has also worked in Assamese films Jeevan Baator Logori, Konikar Ramdhenu and Mon Jaai.

Sourav Ganguly to promote Tripura Tourism as brand ambassador

Guwahati, May 24: Former Indian cricket captain and ex-BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly has agreed to serve as a brand ambassador for Tripura tourism, according to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

After speaking with Ganguly, over the phone, Dr. Saha expressed his opinion that Ganguly's participation will promote the tourism sector.

Sourav Ganguly appointed as Tripura tourism brand ambassador

Agartala : Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has accepted the role of Tripura tourism’s brand ambassador, CM Manik Saha confirmed.

“It’s a matter of great pride that former captain of Indian cricket team Shri Sourav Ganguly Ji has accepted our proposal to be the Brand Ambassador of Tripura Tourism. Had a telephonic conversation with him today. I am confident that Shri Ganguly Ji’s participation will definitely give an impetus to the state’s tourism sector,” reads Dr Saha’s post.

Earlier today, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury had shared the information of Ganguly being approached to become the tourism ambassador after a meeting with him.

In his social media post, the tourism minister said, “For the state to make strides in the tourism sector, we need a strong brand ambassador who is famous across the globe. And, who can be a better fit in the role rather than our ‘Dada’? The former captain of the Indian international cricket team has followers spread all over the world.”
