2023 ATP Finals: The eight men who have qualified for Turin as final two players are confirmed
The line-up for the 2023 ATP Finals has been completed with Alexander Zverev and Holger Rune the final two players to book their spots for the prestigious event in Turin, Italy.
The duo will join world No 1 Novak Djokovic, Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz as well as Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the draw for the season-ending tournament.
Just a day after Tsitsipas became the sixth player to secure his place at the Finals, the last two cards fell into place after the final quarter-final match at the Paris Masters on Friday evening as first Zverev secured his ticket and then Rune.
Seven players were fighting it out for the last three places a few days ago in Paris-Bercy, but Tommy Paul fell by the wayside as he lost in the second round then Taylor Fritz withdrew from the tournament due to injury.
With Tsitsipas booking his place, it left Zverev, Rune, Hubert Hurkacz and Alex de Minaur in the running for two places come quarter-final day in Paris.
However, Hurkacz’s hopes were ended when he lost in three sets against Grigor Dimitrov, resulting in Zverev becoming the seventh player to qualify.
De Minaur then had to beat Rublev to stay in the hunt, but he also suffered a three-set defeat to put Rune into the main draw.

The Dane will make his debut at the ATP Finals along with Carlos Alcaraz, who withdrew from last year’s event due to injury.
Four of the players in the 2023 line-up have won the title before with defending champion Djokovic looking for a record-breaking seventh title.
Zverev won in 2021 and 2018, Medvedev was the champion in 2020 and Tsitsipas lifted the trophy in 2019.
ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi said: “Congratulations to all the players that have qualified for the 2023 Nitto ATP Finals. It’s a reflection of a truly impressive season.
“This is a unique tournament, featuring only the best of the best, with so much on the line for players. The stage is now set for an incredible final showdown in Turin.”
This year’s ATP Finals will once again be staged at the Pala Alpitour in Turin with the tournament starting on November 13 with the finals set for Sunday, November 19. READ MORE: ATP Finals winner could earn biggest cheque in tennis history as event offers record prize money pot

Madrid Open 2024: Men's draw, schedule, players, prize money breakdown, ranking points & more
T he ATP tour will head to the capital city of Spain for the 22nd edition of the Madrid Open, which will take place from April 23 to May 5, 2024.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic announced his withdrawal from the tournament a few days ago. He'll next return to action at the Italian Open. Jannik Sinner leads the pack as the top seed, followed by defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Rafael Nadal, meanwhile, will continue his comeback at the Madrid Open. He didn't make a deep run upon his return to the tour at the Barcelona Open, where he lost in the second round. However, he'll be keen to garner some momentum as the French Open draws closer.
With most of the big names all gathered here, the Madrid Open promises an exciting two weeks' worth of action. On that note, here are all the relevant details regarding the tournament:
What is the Madrid Open?
The tournament came into existence in 2002 as an indoor hardcourt event during the fall. It remained that way until the 2008 edition. It was re-envisaged in a new avatar the following year and moved to a new slot on the ATP calendar.
The tournament has been held on clay since 2009 and usually has a late-April start. It follows the Monte-Carlo Masters as the second clay Masters 1000 tournament on the ATP tour.
Since its inception, the Madrid Open has always been classified as a Masters tournament. It was initially only a men's event but opened its doors to the WTA tour in 2009 and became a combined event.
Rafael Nadal holds the record for most titles at the venue with five, followed by Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer with three apiece. The Spaniard has also reached the most finals here, with eight trips to the championship round so far.
The Madrid Open will take place at La Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain.
Men's Draw and Players
All seeded players have received a bye into the second round. Jannik Sinner is the top seed and headlines the top half of the draw. He's got a smooth ride until the quarterfinals, where he could face the in-form Casper Ruud.
Rafael Nadal is also in the top half of the draw. He'll start off against Darwin Blanch and could once again meet Alex de Minaur in the second round, who beat him at the Barcelona Open. Stefanos Tsitsipas is also in the Spaniard's section and the two could lock horns in the fourth round.
Two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz leads the bottom half of the draw. He got a relatively easy draw, with Andrey Rublev, his projected quarterfinal opponent, being in a major slump at the moment.
Either Alexander Zverev or Hubert Hurkacz are most likely to be Alcaraz's semifinal opponents. Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul and Holger Rune are some of the other notable names in the bottom half of the draw.
The complete men's draw can be found here .
The qualifying rounds are already underway. The men's main-draw action will begin on April 24. The first three rounds last two days each. All fourth-round matches will be contested on Tuesday, April 30.
The quarterfinals will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, May 1 and 2. The semifinals will take place on Friday, May 3. The men's doubles final will be played on Saturday, May 4, while the men's singles final will be held on Sunday, May 5, at 6:30 p.m. local time.
Prize Money and Ranking Points
The total prize money for this year's edition of the Madrid Open is €7,877,020. The singles champion will receive $963,225 along with 1000 ranking points.
Here's a complete breakdown of the prize money and ranking points:

Four more atp players withdraw from madrid open.
- April 23, 2024

The second clay-court Masters 1000 event of the season for ATP players starts on Wednesday at the Madrid Open. Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner is the No. 1 seed at the tournament. We at LWOT already reported on three players who elected to withdraw from the Madrid Open . This article names four additional players who have taken that decision and then lists their four replacements in the draw.
Novak Djokovic was the first player to withdraw from the Madrid Open . The 24-time Grand Slam champion’s decision does not appear to be due to a physical issue. Djokovic has now skipped the tournament three times in the last four years, with the subsequent event in Rome usually his priority.
Laslo Djere was the second player to withdraw from the Madrid Open . The Serbian retired from his Monte-Carlo Masters match against the eventual champion Stefanos Tsitsipas due to an injury. He has not recovered from this problem to compete in Spain.
Matteo Berrettini also withdrew from the event . The 2021 Wimbledon runner-up announced that he could not play due to an illness that has evolved into tonsillitis and a fever. This is a shame since Berrettini started his clay-court season magnificently by winning the title in Marrakech at the start of the month.
Mackenzie McDonald was the final player to withdraw from the Madrid Open . Unfortunately, the American has not competed since the Australian Open because of ongoing injury problems. It is not currently known when McDonald will return to the ATP Tour.
Who Replaces Those Four Players In The Draw?
Luca Van Assche enters the Madrid Open main draw due to Djokovic electing to withdraw. The 19-year-old has made a slow start to the clay-court season, losing three of his first four matches. Van Assche is still very good on the dirt at his best. He will be hopeful of finding more success in Spain.
Arthur Rinderknech replaces Djere at the Madrid Open. His most recent tournament was the Monte-Carlo Masters, where failed to come through qualifying after a defeat to clay-court specialist Federico Coria.
Daniel Elahi Galan benefits from Berrettini’s decision to withdraw . The Colombian, who beat Stefanos Tsitsipas at the 2022 US Open, progressed to the Round of 16 last week in Munich. Holger Rune stopped him at that stage.
Finally, Thiago Seyboth Wild is also set to compete at the Madrid Open. The Brazilian’s favourite surface is clay. That was shown during his stunning five-set triumph against Daniil Medvedev at last year’s French Open.
