2022 Best ATV Tours In Bryce Canyon National Park

2022 ATV Tours in Bryce Canyon

Bryce Canyon National Park has some of the most beautiful, scenic views in the Western U.S. There you will also set your eyes on some of the best overlooks, which can only be accessed by dirt roads. The roads are 4x4, which are great for ATV’s. Bryce Canyon is a favorite place to visit in Southern Utah, and has a vast array of four wheel drive trails around the park. Contact us for a tour, our guides will make sure that you can concentrate on the adventure. If you visit the park alone, you will need detailed maps and have to know the park.

Bryce Canyon is an array of natural bowls or amphitheaters which is filled with unevenly eroded spires of rocks called hoodoos. Bryce Canyon National Park has the largest number of hoodoos on earth. Bryce is distinctive, due to the hoodoos. They are geological structures, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange, and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views for park visitors. Bryce Canyon National Park is an alpine forest and has as many red rock hoodoos as it does trees. The alpine habitat is home to dozens of birds and species of mammals.

2022 Best ATV in Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park is much smaller, and sits at a much higher elevation than nearby Zion National Park. The rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 feet (2,400 to 2,700 m).

Bryce Canyon is very unique, as it is not one individual canyon. In Bryce Canyon National Park you will experience breathtaking views. There are four main viewpoints, all within the first few miles of the park. The viewpoints are Inspiration Point, Sunrise Point , Bryce Point, and Sunset Point. You can find other viewpoints as you travel the park’s 18-mile main road. Experience Bryce Canyon’s abundant western history. Explore the hideouts for Western outlaws such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Bryce Canyon National Park lies within the Colorado Plateaugeographic province of North America and straddles the southeastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau west of the Paunsaugunt Fault (Paunsaugunt is Paiute for "home of the beaver"). Park visitors arrive from the plateau part of the park and look over the plateau's edge toward a valley containing the fault and the Paria River just beyond it (Paria is Paiute for "muddy or elk water"). The edge of the Kaiparowits Plateau bounds the opposite side of the valley.

ROAM Outdoor Adventure Co. was an amazing experience and an absolute must do in Southern Utah!! We did the ATV tour which went to Cutler’s Point/Great Chamber and Peekaboo Slot Canyon, and our tour guide Mike was great! He gave us tons of info about the places we went to and ensured everyone had a great time! Both the ATV ride and the hiking were so fun, all the staff were so friendly, and the locations were beautiful; all around such a great experience and I would definitely do it again :) - Humnah

The Great Chamber ATV Tour

Embark on an adrenaline ATV ride to one of the most must see gems of Kanab . A colossal 200-foot-tall hidden cove and massive sandhill shaped by desert winds over thousands of years. Plan for a short .25 hike with an uphill sandy ascent into the entrance. If the hike doesn't leave you breathless then the stunning views and epic scale of this natural wonder. Truly a photographer’s paradise! Explore The Great Chamber ATV Tours.

The Great Chamber is located near Kanab in the Grand Staircase Escalante Region at Cutler Point in Utah. The Great Chamber at Cutler Point is a large open dome with a tall sand hill. The Great Chamber is perfect for taking photographs. Great Chamber is more of a scenic viewing area, so it is less of a hike. It is best to use a tour guide who knows the area well as it can be difficult if you attempt to find and navigate the Great Chamber on your own.

Driving on sand can be difficult if you don’t have experience. Don’t worry, our expert guides will lead your atv tour.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about ROAM. We were originally going to go through another company, but when we heard about what ROAM offered, we changed our minds. We are SO glad we did. We did the ATV Combo Tour of the Great Chamber and Peek-a-Boo. Mike was beyond amazing. Not just professional and friendly, but so knowledgeable. He even captured some amazing pics in the Chamber and filled us in on local history. I am not very adventurous, but this was fun and Mike was even patient when we needed a break on the hikes or just wanted to stop to take in the sites or snap photos. Highly recommend using ROAM OutDoor for your next adventure! - Tiffany

Half Day'er ATV Tour and Hiking - Near Bryce Canyon National Park

The Half Day'er: Peek-a-boo Slot Canyon, The Great Chamber, and Hoodoos

Our longest ATV tour! First taking you to the legendary Peek-a-boo Slot canyon , then to The Great Chamber, and ending at the scenic Hoodoos. Sure, it will be an adventure packed day! Explore The Half Day'er ATV Tour.

Hoodoos are tall skinny shafts of rock that protrude from the bottom of arid basins. They are an array of natural bowls or amphitheaters which are filled with unevenly eroded spires of rocks. Hoodoos are mostly found in High Plateau regions, but they are nowhere more abundant anywhere in the world than the northern part of Bryce Canyon National Park.

ATV Tour Google Review by Maggis

We booked the Half Day’er ATV tour, which included Peekaboo Slot Canyon, the Great Chamber, & the Hoodoos. Mike was our tour guide and he was absolutely awesome to spend the afternoon with. We had a group of 8 and were in town for a friend’s birthday. We all had ample opportunity to take turns driving the ATVs, got lots of drive time in, and got some good hiking in at each of the locations. The ATVs themselves are quality, brand new Canams— definitely incredibly cool.

Each location is so different, the views were amazing, and Mike never once made us feel rushed through any of it. At the Great Chamber, Mike essentially gave us our own little photo shoot and recommended some great shots to get. At the Hoodoos, it had just gotten done raining and getting up the sloped rock was slippery and pretty difficult. Mike took the time to help those who still wanted to try and climb up and then helped us back down. The Peekaboo Slot Canyon was probably our favorite stop and we spent quite a bit of time there, Mike had some really interesting tidbits to share.

All in all, our afternoon spent with the Roam Outdoor Adventure Co. was worth every single penny and every single minute it took us to drive there (we drove 3 hours). I’d highly recommend them to anyone vacationing in the Zion area.

ATV Tour Google Review by Thomas

ROAM Outdoor Adventures was the experience of a lifetime! Our group of 4 did the Half Dayer with an option of sand boarding and it was the best day of our trip! Our guide, Mikey, was nothing short of gold. He navigated us through the desert like a champ. He had a wealth of stories and knowledge worth a week of campfires! These views of our countryside are unparalleled. FYI the hike to the Great Chamber is in the desert, uphill and through thick sand. It is not a simple hike. Bring lots of water. ROAM was kind enough to provide extra water as well. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Adventure on! - Thomas

Driving to Bryce Canyon, we spotted this atv rental place that said "guided tours." So glad we decided to do it! The guide pointed out animals, points of interest, and telling us some facts/history during the stops. The guide even took a few pictures and videos with everyone's own phone. We were here during the off season, this was probably one of the most fun things we did on this trip, would definitely recommend!

OMG the best fun! The check in was rather quick. We got the 3 seater ATV. The person leading the tour was super awesome. He was really helpful in taking our photo and also took us on the best route off road. I enjoyed it very much! If you are interested make sure you book in advance. It was worth the $$.

Booking was easily done online. We were staying in Zion and decided to take the 2 hour drive over to Bryce for a day, one part ATV, another part to check out the Canyon. My plans for the Narrows changed as the weather wasn't great, so I called up Ruby's ATV Tours and they were able to reschedule it without ANY hassle at all. Then when we got there, we realized that we only need one ATV instead of two, so they refunded me some money, again no hassle at all. Everyone that I dealt with was wonderful and nice. The first part of the ATV riding is pretty tame, they took us out to the edge of the property overlooking Bryce and gave us a little history of the place, pretty interesting. The second part got a little more rough (for our inexperienced family) and we had an absolute blast.

Photo of Richard Y.

My family and I rented two ATV's and a razer. Had a great time. The first had was much more tame, but when we got to the back part we had a real blast doing the ATV trails. Super fun!

We visited during Labor Day weekend (COVID times). Processing was smooth, staff was courteous and friendly. It was an hour tour... but it was a great hour. We had so much fun. Our guide gave some good history of Bryce Canyon, the wildlife we came across, places to see and the area in general. Recommend the tour to everyone for something fun to do.

We did a 1 hour ATV ride on 7/23. Our guide was great, very knowledgeable and with good humor. Did some good exciting idling, although nothing too crazy for some noobs.... Would recommend highly, if you want to just let loose on trails as a nice introduction to ATV riding.... Oh, if it had rained recently, you will get splashed with water and mud.... But by the end of the ride, we were almost all dry. Great fun... next time would go longer or even rent one and go on our own. 10/10 would do again!

atv tour bryce canyon

Took my son on a two seat atv. His first time. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Think Anthony Bourdain without the sarcasm. Would do this another 10 times. My son now wants an atv.

atv tour bryce canyon

I did an ATV tour with John and it was SO much fun! I had never done this before but John made us feel very comfortable with explaining everything. Me and my friend shared an ATV and switched half way through and it was $80 total. We got to learn about history along the way and it was extremely fun and interesting. We also got to see wildlife throughout and different parts of Bryce Canyon. They also provide you with all the equipment you need. You do need to bring cash for tips though or there's a gas station with an ATM in the same parking lot. Strongly recommend this tour!

The 3 Best ATV Tours in Bryce Canyon Country

Experience the wind rustling through your hair, the fresh smells penetrating your soul, and the amazing sights not diminished by a glass window..

ATV riding is one of the most enjoyable ways to truly experience Bryce Canyon Country. The area is overflowing with breathtaking trails that go through diverse sceneries so your eyes will never grow bored. Many visitors use the town of Panguitch as a home base for their ATV adventures since it is close to many different trails. Although Bryce Canyon has many amazing ATV tours, we’ve listed three trails that we consider are some of the best.

Casto Canyon

Casto Canyon is beautifully decorated with spires of orange rock that tower high above the canyon walls and that are surrounded by the forested scents of pine and cedar. This 36-mile round-trip trail goes through the magnificent formations of red hoodoos, pink and white sandstone cliffs, and the ever-deepening greens of the ponderosa pines in Casto Canyon.

The Casto Canyon ATV journey is fairly easy to travel on, yet will provide you with rugged terrain through the twists, dips, and sharp turns of Utah’s rocky, desert landscape. Prepare for a full day of sightseeing, great photo opportunities, and of course, snack breaks to soak in the amazing views such as Peterson Point. You should allow for up to five hours for this ride. This trail can be accessed by either Highway 89 or Highway 12. Panguitch, Utah is a great place to start looking for ATV rentals like American ATV Rentals.

atv tour bryce canyon

Badger Creek Loop

Deep in Dixie National Forest, Badger Creek Loop is an ATV run you’ll not want to miss. This 20-mile trail is full of high mountain meadows, thick shaded forest canopies, orange hoodoos, and mixed conifer forests, making the views along Badger Creek Loop legendary. This ATV tour starts from Tropic Reservoir, and once you reach the top of the Paunsaugunt plateau, you will overlook the rural town of Hatch.

Most riders allow around three hours for this round-trip ride, to have enough time for camera stops of the breathtaking scenery. Although there are no trail restrictions, side-by-sides will not fit through the terrain in some locations along the trail. Check-in with Bryce Wildlife Adventure for a close and reliable ATV rental company and for guided ATV tours.

atv tour bryce canyon

Powell Point

The last of our top three epic ATV tours is the big kahuna, the ultimate grand finale of scenic sites—the colossal vista of Powell Point. At the viewpoint, you will enjoy a slight break off the ATV with a 3/4 mile hike at the top with an elevation of well over 10,000 feet. Once at the top, you’ll understand why we included this trail as one of the best ATV tours. Powell Point is a lofty perch that provides a stunning view of southern Utah and parts of northern Arizona.

Powell Point ATV tour is a 20-mile round-trip beauty with no trail restrictions and can be reached from Scenic Byway 12. Bryce Canyon ATV Adventures will help you get situated and provide the necessary equipment to make your adventure even more memorable.

Now we want to hear from you. Have you ridden these ATV trails? Would you add more to the list? Which trail is your favorite? Leave a comment below with your answer!

Ride Your Own ATV Riders in the area can get information on the trails and area regulations at Ruby’s Inn. Ruby’s also offers lodging and camping facilities to riders. Make Ruby’s Inn your ATV Trail Headquarters – Stay with us when you ride the trails right from your own room or campsite. We invite you to enjoy the Bryce Canyon Area Trails. We only ask that you remember to be responsible towards the land, so as to preserve the continued and future recreational opportunities for generations to come. For your own safety as well as the protection of the land, STAY ON THE TRAIL!

Some of the more scenic trails in the area include Casto Canyon Trail: The Casto Canyon trail takes riders through a virtual rainbow of red hoodoos, white, pink, purple and green colored sandstone cliffs. After making its way through the ever present red rock formations of the lower trail riders will finder themselves in a forested section pf the area filled with green pine trees, and meadows filled with multi-colored flowers.

Freemont Trail: To get to the Freemont Trailhead, turn south on the East Fork Rd (# 087) off Highway 12. Riders can then travel the more than 50 miles of trails that run from Tropic Reservoir to Paunsaugunt Plateau and over to Circleville.

Paunsaugunt Trail: View the Pink Cliffs of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument; travel to the Kaibab Plateau in northern Arizona ; greet riders along the many Paunsaugunt ATV Trails. The trail begins at Tropic Reservoir and offers several loops through this scenic area. The loop trails along the Paunsaugunt Trail range between 20 and 75 miles in length.

Poison Creek Trial: Located in the Escalante District of the Dixie National Forest , the Poison Creek Trail will take ATV adventurers though southern Utah ‘s most scenic country. Riders will travel along dry riverbeds to desert forests thick with Juniper and Pinion Pine trees. The trail leads up the hills through Quaking Aspen trees to Poison Creek Reservoir, which local refer to as “the pond” before making its way back down the canyon.

Ruby’s ATV Tours

Taking ATV tours near Bryce Canyon is an experience you will never forget. One of the best places to make this memory is Ruby’s ATV Tours. They are an ATV company that specializes in fantastic guided tours through the areas surrounding Bryce Canyon. These incredible guided tours are available from April 1st until October 31st. This allows for optimal weather conditions for your ATV tour. Remember that all guided tours are on a weather permitting basis for the safety of the riders. Once you get out on the trails on an ATV, you will never want to leave.

Available vehicles

There are many different ATVs that can be used for your tour with Ruby’s. The type of vehicle you use will depend on a variety of factors. By getting an idea of the different vehicles available, you can better prepare for your trip. When you are knowledgeable and prepared, you are setting the stage for the perfect outdoor adventure. No matter which vehicle you choose, all drivers must be at least 16 years old. Any drivers or riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Also, all passengers must be at least seven years old at the time of the tour. Once all rules of riding are following, you will have a blast tearing through the trails, whichever vehicles you choose.

Standard ATV The standard ATV is perfect for those looking for an authentic ATV experience. You will straddle the vehicle, grip the handlebar, and take off through the trails. Standard ATVs allow for one driver and one passenger, making them perfect for smaller groups.

Can-Am Commander These awesome vehicles have enough room for one driver and three passengers. They are built more similarly to a car than a standard ATV, so they may be easier for inexperienced riders. Having your group all in the same vehicle is a great way to talk about the scenery and enjoy the experience together.

Polaris Ranger The Polaris Ranger is a heavy-duty utility vehicle. It can hold one driver and one passenger. It rides a higher distance from the ground than other vehicles, which provides a more comfortable ride. This is the perfect choice for those who want to enjoy the ride and site-see as they drive along.

Polaris Razor Similar in size to the Ranger, the Razor looks more like a dune buggy than a truck. The Polaris Razor is built for maneuverability and speed. It will provide the perfect thrilling experience for one driver and one passenger.

Polaris CREW If you’re bringing a large group along, and you’d like to take our journey together, you can’t go wrong with the Polaris CREW. This monster 4×4 holds one driver and five passengers for the trek of a lifetime. No other utility vehicle can carry your whole group the way the CREW can.

Types of rides

Ruby’s ATV Tours offer a great selection of rides to choose from. An important thing to decide on is how long you would like your tour to be. If you are new to the ATV world, it may be a good idea to start out slow with a short ride. If you are comfortable with ATV riding, and want to explore as much as possible, the longer, one-hour tours, may be the best choice for you. Each tour will take you through different areas and allow you to experience many different things.

Half hour The half-hour-long ride is perfect for getting out and exploring without exhausting yourself. This shorter ride is nice because, no matter how busy your day is, you’ll be able to fit an ATV ride into your schedule.

One hour A one-hour long ride is a great way to get the most of an ATV riding experience. You will cover a lot of ground near the Bryce Canyon area. This longer journey allows you to really enjoy nature while you get used to riding your ATV from Ruby’s ATV Tours.

One hour sunset This one-hour long ride is one of the most unique experiences you can have while visiting Bryce Canyon. Not only do you get the benefits of the standard one-hour tour, you will also see breathtaking views. As you ride under the beautiful sky, you will be surrounded by the warm glow of the sunset light. Seeing the wilderness just before twilight is unforgettable.

Where to ride

While the choice of ATV and the length of your trip are important, the thing that makes or breaks your ATV ride is the trail you ride on. Even with a top-of-the-line vehicle and all the time in the world, if you’re riding on a boring trail, you’ll have an awful time. This is what sets Ruby’s ATV Tours apart from the rest. Their guides will take you on a variety of trails, some made specifically for ATVs. Listed below are some of the popular ATV trails in the area. Whether you like to ride in the wide-open fields or tight, complex trails, Ruby’s has the perfect ride for you.

Coyote Hollow Loop This 20-mile-long trail requires a bit more time than some trails, but it is worth it. You will ride through tall, Ponderosa pines in Dixie National Forest. The trail is located above Red Canyon, which provides incredible views throughout your journey. The trail is carved along the East Fork of the Sevier River, which attracts wildlife from all around. The scenic value of this trail is something that shouldn’t be missed.

King Creek Loop Another 20-mile-long ride, the King Creek Loop allows for a steady, quick pace throughout the ride. You will start out at the Tropic Reservoir and then ride along its shoreline. You will continue to Badger Creek, which offers incredible scenery. The next turnoff will be Blue Fly which leads you to pass Mill Hollow and then returns you to the reservoir. This huge loop is a fun ride with so much to see.

Dave’s Hollow Loop This terrific loop begins at Ruby’s Inn and takes you through a variety of views and terrains. You can fully customize the ride on Dave’s Hollow Loop by taking any of the loops offered within the trail. Some loops are shorter than a mile long, which can be combined with the other loops in whichever fashion you like. Ride through open areas or twist through the trails, Dave’s Hollow has it all.

Satisfy your need for speed

If you are the kind of person that likes a daily dose of adrenaline, a Ruby’s Inn ATV Tour shouldn’t be missed. Arrive with rugged clothes and a can-do attitude. You will be surprised at how much fun you will have as you rip along the trails near Bryce Canyon and Ruby’s Inn. The memories you create during your short ride will never be forgotten. Don’t miss out on the adventure of a lifetime. Head out on one of the ATV tours near Bryce Canyon.

  • Skill Level: Mostly easy/ some moderate
  • Usage: Heavy
  • Open: late Spring – late Fall
  • Vehicles Allowed: ATV, SxS, full size, 4×4 (ORV)

Paunsaugunt OHV Trail is the most popular and easily accessible Bryce Canyon ATV trail.

Paunsaugunt Trail is actually 6 separate loop trails that are all connected one after another. These loops are multi-use trails open to OHVs, hiking, biking and horseback riding. Most loops can accommodate full sized vehicles, but there are a couple trails that have small sections that require ATVs < 50”.

atv tour bryce canyon

These trails open in late Spring depending on snow/conditions. To minimize damage to the roads they don’t open until the snow has melted and the roads are mostly dry.

You can still ski and snowshoe on the trails during the winter, but they’re closed to motorized traffic.

Five different parking areas are available to access the different loops. Most of the trailheads have vault toilets and loading ramps.

You can also access the ATV trails from the Ruby’s Inn campground or the gas station across from the Inn via a connector trail.

This loop also has a connector trail to the rest of the loops.

Trailhead parking is available at Gateway Trailhead which has a loading ramp, but no vault toilet.

This route takes you through a primarily forested area.

Daves Hollow Loop

King Creek Loop

  • Trail Miles: 17 miles
  • Open To: Hiking, biking, horseback riding, OHV’s and full size vehicles

To access this trail, park at the Tropic Reservoir parking area. A loading ramp and vault toilet are available.

If you’re looking for a place to camp to explore the area, then Tropic Reservoir is going to be your best bet. Kings Creek Campground is located at the reservoir. (see camping section)

The King Creek Loop travels along the plateau through mixed conifer forest with some beautiful sweeping views along the way.

Badger Creek Loop

  • Trail Miles: 30 miles
  • Open To: Hiking, biking, horseback riding, OHV’s < 50”

Badger Creek Loop

Straight Canyon Loop

This is one of the more challenging trails – it’s winding, narrow and rutted.

Crawford Pass Loop

This trail is one of the more remote loops on the Paunsaugunt OHV Trail. It’s a 17 mile drive on East Fork Road off Hwy 12 to the large parking area. There is a loading ramp and vault toilet available.

This popular loop travels through pine and aspen forest along the Paunsaugunt Plateau. It offers excellent views of the red rock cliffs and hoodoos with distant views into the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Camping On The Paunsaugunt Plateau

Ride in Ride Out Camping

The only campground on the plateau is located at the Tropic Reservoir. The campground and reservoir are on a well maintained dirt road that can be reached by car or RV.

Campground is open from late May to mid September. There are two group sites that can be reserved at Recreation.gov , but the regular sites are first come, first serve with no reservations available.

Kings Creek Campground has 37 campsites on a hill overlooking the reservoir. Sites are $19+ a night and can accommodate RVs up to 45’ in length.

There are no hookups, but there is a dump station available as well as flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables and fire rings.

atv tour bryce canyon

This campground is located at an elevation of 8,000 ft, so keep in mind that it will be a bit cooler in spring or fall.

Bryce National Park is only 12 miles from the campground, so it’s great for exploring the region. Two hiking trails, Chimney Rock Trail  and King Creek Trail , can be accessed from the campground. There are also plenty of opportunities for mountain biking on the roads and trails throughout the region.

The reservoir is stocked with fish, so it offers great fishing for brook, rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. There’s a boat ramp, but during the later part of the summer, the water levels go down so much that the ramp is not usable.

Or bring your kayak and SUP to enjoy the view from the water.

There are several scenic loops along the way including: West Hunt Loop, Casto-Limekiln Loop, Horse Valley Peak Loop and Table Mountain Loop.

One thing you need to know about the Great Western is that there are two Great Western Trail sections that run through the Escalante District – one for OHVs and one for non-motorized use. The ATV section starts at Ruby’s Inn Campground.
