Avril Lavigne

Bad news, sk8er bois (and girls): Avril Lavigne is pushing back her upcoming tour of the U.K. and Europe due to concerns over COVID-19.

The singer shared the update with fans on her social media accounts on Monday (Feb. 7), writing, “To my fans in Europe and the UK, I have some unfortunate news to share with you all about my UK and European dates. I have to make the difficult decision to postpone this tour until 2023. Due to the on-going issues surrounding the pandemic, there are a series of travel and venue restrictions from country to country that have made the tour not possible to happen.”

“It’s not an easy decision, but it’s one that will help ensure that we are able to play every single date of the tour, put on the best show possible at full capacity, and operate in a safe environment. It really breaks my heart to have to do this, but I know it will be worth the wait,” she continued.

Avril Lavigne Reschedules 2022 European Tour To 2023

See her new tour dates below.

Avril Lavigne has once again rescheduled her upcoming 2022 European tour in support of her 2019 album Head Above Water and upcoming Love Sux album . Originally scheduled to take place in 2020, the dates were rescheduled for 2021, then for spring 2022, and have been pushed for the third time to 2023 due to ongoing restrictions.

Lavigne will now be hitting the road from April through May 2023, stopping at major cities in Italy, Germany, and the U.K., including three shows in London and one in Manchester. Lavigne will still be playing some live shows in 2022 but only in her home country of Canada. Her Bite Me 2022 Canada Tour, kicking off May 3 is still set to happen.

Lavigne released Head Above Water in 2019 as her sixth studio album, and the latest full-length release since her 2013 self-titled album. The 12-track record was written about her battle with Lyme disease, a diagnosis that she revealed to the public in 2015. “I was bedridden for five months,” she told People magazine about the severity of her symptoms at the time. “I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk and I couldn’t move[...] I thought I was dying.”

In the time since, Lavigne has experienced a resurgence with her career timed alongside a pop-punk renaissance in pop culture. In 2020, she released new music with her boyfriend, MOD SUN, and Willow, the youngest Smith. Their very 2000s music video for their joint track “G R O W” was released in 2021. Lavigne has also been gearing up to release her anticipated next album titled Love Sux which will usher in a return to her pop-punk roots and is expected to drop on Feb. 25.

Below, find everything you need to know about attending the European leg of her 2023 tour.

Avril Lavigne postpones Love Sux UK and European tour to 2023

Avril Lavigne’s planned 2022 UK and European run has been pushed back a year due to a “series of travel and venue restrictions from country to country that have made the tour not possible to happen”.

Avril Lavigne postpones Love Sux UK and European tour to 2023

While Avril Lavigne 's new album Love Sux is due out soon, unfortunately fans in the UK and Europe are going to have to wait over a year now to hear it live.

The singer's planned 19-date February and March run will now be happening in April and May 2023, with the blame for this postponement of course falling to the pandemic, and the many different restrictions in place.

"I have some unfortunate news to share with you all about my UK and European dates," reads a statement from Avril. "I have to make the difficult decision to postpone this tour until 2023. Due to the ongoing issues surrounding the pandemic, there are a series of travel and venue restrictions from country to country that have made the tour not possible to happen.

"It’s not an easy decision, but it’s one that will help ensure that we are able to play every single date of the tour, put on the best show possible at full capacity, and operate in a safe environment. It breaks my heart to do this, but I know it will be worth the wait.

The album track list opens with back-to-back hits, from “Sk8er Boi,” “Girlfriend,” and “What the Hell” to “Complicated” and “Don’t Tell Me.” The album will also highlight Lavigne’s collaborations with Yungblud (“I’m a Mess”), Machine Gun Kelly (“Bois Lie”), and Blackbear (“Love It When You Hate Me.” The remainder of the 20-song album highlights “Here’s to Never Growing Up,” “Nobody’s Home,” “When You’re Gone,” “Smile,” and more.

“This is gonna be too much stupid fun celebrating my career with my friends and fans,” Lavigne wrote on Instagram when announcing the Greatest Hits tour. “Who’s coming???? What songs do you want to hear???”

The show was good but very short. Not a lot of songs from her new album. Was disappointing to say the least - especially for a hometown show. We would have loved to hear more complete versions from her new album.

Hi I really enjoyed the show, despite being somewhat short. I bought a red rose for her and when she was singing in front of our section, I noticed she smiled. I resent not taking a picture. I have been a fan of hers since 2002.

This was my first time seeing Avril Lavigne. She did a lot of old songs and messed up the ending of Happy Endings. She did a few new songs. Overall I had fun.

Given that Lavigne is one of Canada's most recognizable stars of the 21st century, with eight Grammy nominations and ten Juno Awards to her name, it's almost surprising that she doesn't already have a greatest hits compilation. The Canadian superstar will kick off her celebratory era with a live performance at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16, ahead of a headlining tour this summer. She’ll perform with New Male Artist of the Year nominee Nate Smith.

The rap battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar dominates the charts this week, with the Toronto superstar debuting the seven minute missive “Family Matters” at No. 6 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100.

Lamar's final word, "Not Like Us," is proving even more popular, topping the U.S. Hot 100 and coming in at No. 2 in Canada.

Other tracks related to the beef can be seen throughout the top 100. Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” – which features Lamar’s now infamous “F-ck the big 3, it’s just big me” bar and initially ignited the feud – and Drake’s response to it, “Push Ups,” follow each other back to back, occupying spots No. 12 and No. 13. Lamar’s "Euphoria," which followed "Push Ups," spends its second week on the chart at No. 5.

Lamar’s eerie penultimate diss track “Meet The Grahams” debuts at No. 16, right behind Ariana Grande’s thumping, dreamy ballad “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)." Altogether, the feud occupies six positions in the top 20. Only Drake's "The Heart Part 6," his final reply to Lamar, has yet to chart (not counting his “Taylor Made Freestyle,” which was removed from streaming services after a cease-and-desist from Tupac Shakur’s Estate).

Unlike in the U.S., though, the top spot here has nothing to do with battling. Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” a country interpretation of J-Kwon’s 2003 “Tipsy,” reigns supreme for the second week in a row, after taking the No.1 spot from Taylor Swift last week. Tommy Richman’s sensational debut single “Million Dollar Baby” continues to make waves by climbing up to No. 3, while Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” begins its descent as it drops to No. 4.

In terms of non-Drake Canadians on the chart, Charlotte Cardin's "99 Nights" moves up in its second week charting to No. 88. Preston Pablo's "Dance Alone" moves up 80-76 and Owen Riegling's "Old Dirt Roads" moves up 88-81. Tate McRae's "Greedy" holds at No. 21.

As the Lamar-Drake beef seemingly comes to its end musically, time will tell whether the diss tracks have chart longevity, as the scope of their impact on the two artists comes into view.

Avril Lavigne Addresses 'Dumb' Rumor That She's Been Replaced with Body Double Named Melissa: 'It's Just Funny to Me'

The pop-punk star addressed the rumor that she was replaced with a body double named Melissa

Lavigne will release her Greatest Hits album and tour this summer

Avril Lavigne has some thoughts about a certain conspiracy theory about her.

During the Wednesday, May 15 episode of Call Her Daddy , the "Complicated" singer, 39, addressed the "dumb" rumor that she was replaced by a body double named "Melissa."

After Alex Cooper asked Lavigne what the craziest rumor is that she's heard about herself, Lavigne replied that she knew exactly the one the host, 29, was referencing.

"I know what you're talking about," she said — referring to the rumor that surfaced on internet forums in the early 2000s claiming the Canadian pop-punk star had died in 2003 after her debut album Let Go was released and was subsequently replace with a doppelgänger named Melissa. "I mean, it's just funny to me. Like, on one end, everyone's like, 'You look the exact same. You haven't aged a day.' But then other people are like, there's a conspiracy theory that I'm not me."

"Honestly, it's not that bad. It could be worse, right?" she admitted with a laugh. "I feel like I got a good one. I don't feel like it's negative. It's nothing creepy."

Lavigne added: "Obviously I am me, it's so dumb." However, the "I'm with You" performer was quick to point out that body double rumors aren't uncommon when it comes to musicians.

"I think that they've done that with other artists," Lavigne said. "I'm not the only one. I think, like, other people have that."

Cooper then noted that the conspiracy theory about the rocker is more "prominent" than similar conspiracy theories about other artists.

"I'm telling you what's crazy is you haven't aged," she tells Lavigne. "I'm staring at you. And, like, I'm picturing you with your auburn hair. And I'm like, oh my God. You literally look the same from when you were younger. " Last Friday, the "Girlfriend" artist announced that she'd be releasing her  Greatest Hits  album this summer.

The 20-track project will spotlight all phases of Lavigne’s musical journey, including her 2002 debut,  Let Go , and other releases leading up to 2022’s  Love Sux , her seventh studio album.

In addition to Greatest Hits , she will drop expanded editions of 2004’s  Under My Skin , 2007’s  Best Damn Thing , 2011’s  Goodbye Lullaby , and 2013’s  Avril Lavigne , which will be released on 12" vinyl for the first time and will include bonus tracks that were previously digital-only songs.

Avril Lavigne is revisiting all of her best damn songs just in time for her upcoming headline tour.

The 39-year-old pop-punk star announced on Friday, May 10, that she’s releasing a Greatest Hits album this summer to commemorate her decades-long discography, which is great news for fans who have already copped tickets to her first-ever Greatest Hits tour .

“Can’t do a greatest hits tour without a greatest hits album!!!” the Grammy-nominated “Girlfriend” singer wrote on Instagram alongside her album cover art. “Dropping June 21st 🩷💚🧡🖤.”

The 20-track career-spanning compilation project — now available for pre-order — will spotlight all phases of Lavigne’s musical journey, including her 2002 debut, Let Go , and other releases leading up to 2022’s Love Sux , her seventh studio album and most recent full-length release.

Along with her Greatest Hits album news, expanded editions of four of Lavigne’s studio albums — 2004’s Under My Skin , 2007’s Best Damn Thing , 2011’s Goodbye Lullaby , and 2013’s Avril Lavigne — will be released in 12" vinyl for the first time, also including bonus tracks that were previously digital-only songs.

In late January, Lavigne announced via social media that she’s heading out on the road for her Greatest Hits tour to perform songs“from all of my albums and along with some of your favorites.” The “Complicated” singer also teased, “Of course all of my friends are joining me,” including All Time Low, Simple Plan, Girlfriends and Royal & the Serpent, who will serve as opening acts throughout her tour run.

“This is gonna be too much stupid fun celebrating my career with my friends and fans,” Lavigne added in her tour announcement. “Who’s coming???? What songs do you want to hear???”

The diamond-certified Canadian artist’s tour kicks off in Vancouver, BC, on May 22, and will also make stops in cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Charlotte, Nashville, Chicago, and Toronto before wrapping up on Sept. 18 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Tickets are still available for fans on Ticketmaster , along with V.I.P. packages that can be purchased on vipnation.com .

Ahead of her tour, Lavigne will make her debut performance at the 59th ACM Awards on Thursday, May 16, with best new male artist nominee Nate Smith.
