Aphrodite I Cruises is a family boat created in 2008 by captain Andreas Mallouris who was raised in the area of Cape Greco. Having as father the last lighthouse keeper of the peninsula meant that his knowledge about the area is great. With a combined experience in maritime tourism and the boating industry he has been travelling more than 25 years in the area of Famagusta.

Our boat is designed to allow you to fully explore and experience this impressive and enchanting place while being very close to the hot spots of the Cape Greco area. The captain and staff are highly trained in both safety and first aid for the crew and passengers. It is certified by the relevant authorities for a capacity of up to 100 people and exceeds the highest safety standards and comfort of passengers, with modern high end equipment.

My wife and I spent a week in Protaras with family. In July and August the beaches are packed. We found a hidden gem in the yellow boat. absolutely fabulous!!!! Andreas and his daughter who both captain the ship provide a day of laughter information and incredible swimming. We liked so much we did two days in a row. The meal they provide is simple, delicious, and fresh. Even better are the drinks, they are great and an incredible value. Both days we were on the boat with people who were repeat customers from previous years. That pretty much says it all. We cant wait to do it again.

Family Lazy Day Cruise!!!

Our second time on Aretousa - a wonderful cruise!!! Excellent value for money, delicious lunch and drink included - a well stocked bar for further refreshments. The cruise is second to none, taking you around the coast line and very informative. Beautiful stops for swimming and even with the lovely turtles. Andreas, Anna and the whole family are so welcoming, friendly and helpful while on board. We will definitely book again, no other cruise can compare!!!!

ENJOY THE EAST COAST OF CYPRUS

Protaras is often referred to as Ayia Napa’s laidback neighbor, with the resort being home to hundreds of hotels, restaurants, bars and stunning beaches. The most well-known being the award-winning Fig Tree Bay, which is actually one of the most popular beaches in Europe. Although slightly quieter than Ayia Napa, Protaras also features a lively nightlife, with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. The picturesque resort is also home to the chapel of Profit Elias, situated high up on a hill with stunning views of the Mediterranean as its backdrop. The area is a wonderful place to visit, and seeing the resort from the sea by taking a boat trip / cruise, gives you a whole new perspective of its beauty. Between Protaras and Ayia Napa, lie the breathtaking sea caves of Cape Greco (Cavo Greko), which are especially popular for cliff diving, hiking and catching the sunrise. The tourist hotspot can be found just before Konnos Beach, the last beach before Protaras.

Located on the southeast coast of Cyprus, Ayia Napa is the island’s largest tourist resort. Best known for its beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters which is ideal for boat trips/cruises. The resort is also known for its lively nightlife, Ayia Napa accommodates over 700,000 tourists each year. Situated within the Famagusta district, Ayia Napa’s main landmark is the Venetian-era Monastery that can be found in the square, Plateia Seferi, which is also home to the town’s many bustling bars and clubs. As well as the many dining establishments, souvenir stores, museums and amusement park, Ayia Napa boasts some of the island’s best beaches, one of the most popular being the blue flag Nissi Beach. Awarded the blue flag certification, Nissi Beach stretches over 500 meters of stunning white sand and crystal clear waters. Its name is derived from the Greek word ‘Nissi’, which means island, due to the small island, or islet, that can be reached via a short walk in the shallow waters. Other popular beaches in the area include Makronissos beach and Pantachou beach, both of which are surrounded by 3-5 star hotels, local restaurants, bars and cafes. Further east, situated on the road between Ayia Napa and Protaras, lie the breathtaking sea caves of Cape Greco (Blue Lagoon), which are especially popular for cliff diving, hiking and catching the sunrise. The tourist hotspot can be found just before Konnos Beach, the last beach before Protaras.

Pernera is an area on the east coast of Cyprus situated between the well known tourist destination of Protaras and the smaller village of Kapparis.  It is often combined with neighbouring Protaras especially as there is no clear distinction of where one ends and the other begins.  
The two resorts are linked by a beachfront walkway, popular all year round with walkers, runners and those taking a leisurely stroll to admire the sea views, the path is lit at night and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, with a mixture of pavement and decking, with ramps alongside steps when necessary.    In less than 20 minutes you can walk between the two areas from Fig Tree Bay in Protaras to Polyxenia Beach Just before you leave Pernera for Kapparis, you will find the traditional fishing harbour of Agia Triada, a small harbour with the capacity for about 60 small boats. The harbour is overlooked by the chapel and next to the beach of Agia Triada.

Ayia Napa renowned for its spectacular nightlife, located on the east coast of the Island, has fine sandy beaches with crystal clear turquoise sea, the resort offers plenty of exciting activities for families. Various water sports, including waterskiing, jet skiing, paragliding and scuba –diving are on offer at beaches in and around the town, and boat trips around Cape Greko peninsula and north towards Famagusta leave from the marina. For the children a visit to the Water world water park and EMW Go-Karts make good breaks from the beach. Just along the coast from Ayia Napa are some of the most beautiful beaches found on the island with their fine white sand and turquoise blue waters.

But Ayia Napa is also home to significant history, including the Ayia Napa Monastery (dedicated to the Virgin Mary), which is its archaeological landmark.

Cape Greko is another distinctive part of Ayia Napa, an area of extreme beauty, with secluded coves, diving and snorkeling are highly popular activities in this area due to a number of ships being foundered just off Cape Greko over the past centuries.

Located to the north of Cape Greko and close to the principal town of the area, Paralimni, Protaras is just 15 minutes drive from Ayia Napa. A relaxed resort ideal for families, couples and singles of all ages, Protaras with its superb crystal clear waters and fine sandy beaches provides an idyllic holiday setting. Its beaches are probably the finest in Cyprus, and include the famous Fig Tree bay, whilst nearby Cape Greko offers superb snorkeling and scuba diving.

Overlooking the resort is the elegant Ayios Elias church, beautifully lit up at the night and the surrounding countryside is scattered with windmills which were once used to tap underground fresh water reserves for irrigating the citrus groves. We never mix up with other people on your private trip with us.

Our boat is found in the harbor of Pernera in Protaras, Cyprus (near to the Golden Coast hotel) this is also the starting and ending spot of our trips.

The most common trip we do takes 3 hours and includes two swimming stops, one at the crystal clear waters of The Blue Lagoon in the Cape Greco area and another stop by The Turtle Bay where we often spot the wild turtles swimming.

Please respect that this are wild animals so we do not feed them or try to approach them to close by chasing them or trying to touch them.

We are also doing longer trips for more swimming time, or a short trip of 2 hours with only one stop of your choice.

We are selling drinks onboard, therefor we do not accept anyone to bring drinks on the boat. If you like you may bring your own snacks as we do not serve food. Do bring your swimming suits, towels and sun-protection as well as cameras to create your memories in pictures. If you like, we can connect your device to play your own music in our speakers.

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — The United Nations’ refugee agency said Friday that Cypriot efforts at sea to stop numerous Syrian refugee-laden boats departing Lebanon from reaching the European Union-member island nation mustn’t contravene international human rights laws or put passengers at risk.

Cypriot authorities have reportedly dispatched police patrol vessels just outside Lebanese territorial waters to thwart boat loads of Syrian refugees from reaching the island about 110 miles (180 kilometers) away.

The Cypriot government says a crumbling Lebanese economy coupled with the uncertainty brought on by the Israeli-Hamas war and the recent tit-for-tat strikes between Israel and Lebanon has resulted in a huge number of rickety boats overloaded with migrants – almost all Syrians – reaching the island.

Earlier this week, Cypriot patrol craft reportedly intercepted five boats carrying hundreds of Syrian refugees and migrants. The boats turned back and the passengers disembarked safely.

UNCHR spokesperson in Cyprus Emilia Strovolidou told The Associated Press that according to testimonies of passengers’ relatives, Cypriot authorities “forcibly pushed back” the boats using “violence” and “techniques to destabilize the boat.”

Strovolidou said the U.N. agency was “not in a position to confirm” those testimonies.

A Cypriot senior official strenuously denied that any coercion was used in any way to get the boats to return to Lebanon, insisting that the Cypriot government doesn’t engage in any pushbacks and acts “fully in accordance with international law.”

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he cannot disclose details of ongoing operations, dismissed as “lies” allegations that Cypriot authorities resorted to using any type of force.

Strovolidou said Cyprus is also bound by international law not to return individuals to any country which could in turn deport them to their homeland where they could be at risk of harm or persecution.

The Lebanon office of UNHCR said in a statement that it was aware of more than 220 people who had disembarked from the returned boats in northern Lebanon on Wednesday. Of those, 110 were refugees registered with UNHCR and all of them were released, it said.

Saadeddine Shatila, executive director of the Cedar Center for Legal Studies, a Lebanon-based human rights organization that tracks migration issues, said his group had information that the Lebanese army had detained and possibly deported Syrians from at least one of the returning boats who weren’t registered with UNCHR.

The Lebanese army has in the past occasionally deported all Syrians aboard seized migrant boats, including registered refugees, a practice that drew an outcry from human rights organizations.

Lebanese political officials have been calling for years for the international community to either resettle the refugees in other countries or assist in returning them to Syria, and security forces have stepped up deportations of Syrians over the past year. Some of the deportees have reportedly faced detention and torture upon their return.

The Cypriot official said the Cyprus government in coordination with the European Commission is preparing an additional financial support package for Lebanon to help the country stop migrant boat departures. He said that support is conditional on Lebanon’s effectiveness in stopping migrant boat departures.

Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and European Commission Chief Ursula von der Leyen are due in Beirut May 2 to discuss the aid package.

The official said people smugglers are exploiting people’s fears over the ongoing conflicts in the region and are brazenly advertising in Lebanese coffee shops available seats on boats to Cyprus for $3,000 a head – a bargain compared to the $7,000 required for a trip to Italy.

Cyprus will convene a meeting of other EU countries next month to elicit additional support for its initiative for the bloc to formally redesignate some areas of Syria as safe zones. The Czech Republic and Denmark are behind the idea.

According to the Cypriot official, doing so wouldn’t mean that Syrians hailing from those safe zones are deported back to their country, but they would lose any allowances, benefits and the right to work, creating a disincentive to others to come to Cyprus.

He said Denmark is already implementing such a policy on its own and it’s a measure that the Cypriot government could consider if arrivals continue to increase.
