Boracay, a small island in the Aklan province, is the Philippines most toured destination more than a million of visitors each year. They all come in search of stunning beaches and high-end resorts, Most notably at the famous ‘White beach’ – widely recognized as one the best beaches in the world.

We offer the best Boracay vacation packages at affordable prices. Our packages include airfare, accommodation and guided tours – all carefully selected by our experts. Choose any of the packages listed below, or create your own personalized tour package. Boracay is a small island, so either 2 or 3 nights are usually enough. However, longer stays are also available if you’d like to explore the place even further or you want to relax and just be with the paradise for as long as 5 nights.

Our Most Popular Boracay Tour Packages

Boracay is an almost automatic inclusion to any vacation in the Philippines– it’s one of the most popular tourist spots in Asia for a good reason. There’s something for everyone here – great nightlife that goes on all night, romantic beaches for couples and top of the line all inclusive resorts that are perfect for families with small kids. All you have to do is let us know what your exact requirements are, and we’ll adapt our services accordingly.

Since Boracay is reachable by flight, it’s certainly possible to book our Boracay packages as a standalone product. You could explore the rest of the islands on your own, and just use our services to make sure you get the perfect Boracay experience – a few days in paradise where you don’t have to worry about anything and everything is taken care of for you.

That said, we strongly recommend you consider combining these tour packages with others. It will help you save both time and money, and ensure high standards throughout your entire vacation. Popular destinations which compliment Boracay well include Cebu, Palawan and Bohol – our experts will gladly help you figure out how to plan your whole trip in the most sensible fashion.

Similar islands which offer great nightlife and fantastic beaches are Bohol and Siargao , so those would be our most recommended substitutes. There are many other great islands, so this situation doesn’t mean your holiday is compromised. For more ideas how to plan your vacation without including Boracay, visit our vacation package catalog or contact us directly for help.

Boracay travel essentials

  • Capital : Kalibo, Aklan province
  • Flights : Easiest way to reach Boracay is through Caticlan (Godofredo P. Ramos Airport) and then take a short ferry ride to the island. Flight takes less than an hour from Manila or Cebu, and there are dozens leaving every day. A cheaper alternative is to fly to Kalibo, and then take an 80 minute van/bus drive to Caticlan.
  • Ferry : The trip from Batangas to Caticlan takes at least 20 hours, so we suggest you avoid it.
  • Getting around : The island is only 7 kilometers long so getting around should not be a problem at all. You can ride a tricycle, as renting your own scooter is much more expensive than anywhere else in the country (up to $100 per day!). You can also walk or ride a bicycle if you prefer to see the most of the local lifestyle.
  • Best time to visit : The weather is great all year round. Between July and December it can rain a bit, but you should still be able to catch some sun. Summer is between March and May when temperatures can reach 35° Celsius. During the high season (November to May) the island is packed with visitors and hotel prices go up significantly
  • Nightlife : Boracay has the best nightlife scene in the Philippines – just stroll up and down the 4km White beach strip and see for yourself! Pub crawl is a great way to meet new friends.
  • Local festivals and holidays : During Christian holidays and Chinese new year finding a place to stay could be difficult. Local festivals include Ati Atihan (January 2nd) – a celebration in honor of baby Jesus (Santo Niño), and the Yapak festival which presents the local Aklan traditions through music, dancing and food. The immensely popular LaBoracay party festival has been sadly cancelled following the island’s rehab project.

How to get there?

Reaching Boracay is only possible by air. You can choose between 2 airports: Kalibo International Airport or Caticlan Airport . Kalibo is 1-1.5 hours away from the Boracay port, while Caticlan is right next to it.

The reason people fly into Kalibo is that flight prices from Manila are usually much lower (around 65 USD). Flying to Caticlan can cost 2 times as much. If you’re planning a very short vacation in the Philippines you can also fly directly to Kalibo from several locations abroad (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, and Hong Kong).

There are a few daily flights to both of these airports from Manila and Cebu. Recently, small boutique airlines have also started operating direct lines between Caticlan and Palawan. These flights typically cost more, but might be useful for those on a tight schedule. AirSwift has one daily flight from El Nido to Boracay. The alternate route is also available – leaving Boracay to El Nido.

Is Boracay the right place for your vacation?

Boracay is at the top of most people’s bucket list, and it’s there for a reason. Although many tourists visit this island all year round, you may still wonder whether if it’s the right choice for you. The table below compares Boracay with other popular picks, to help you better understand if you should include it in your plans.

  • Ease of reaching : Easy
  • Best time to visit : November to May
  • Best beaches
  • Nightlife : Best in the Philippines
  • Suitable for : Party, Couples, Groups
  • Ease of reaching : Moderate
  • Island hopping
  • Hidden lagoons
  • Nightlife : Almost none
  • Suitable for : Adventure, Romantic
  • Chocolate hills
  • Nightlife : Relaxed
  • Suitable for : Romantic, Family, Groups

Bohol is just as great, but more relaxed and much cheaper. Diving in Bohol is slightly better, and the snorkeling sites are superior. Plus, there is more to do on Bohol Island itself. Popular attractions include taking a river cruise, going to the Chocolate Hills, and visiting the Tarsier Sanctuary. Bohol is better for people who prefer an all inclusive vacation but want a less crowded atmosphere. For these reasons, Bohol is a better choice for family vacations. If you’re traveling on the low season, Bohol can be too quiet and empty, while Boracay will be have just the right amount of people.

Palawan on the other end is very difficult to compare as it’s a huge province offering a lot of diversity. To get a full idea of what Palawan is about visit our Palawan page . In short, Palawan is more difficult to get to and travel around in. Things are much less touristy and in order to get to one place from another you might have to spend 6-7 hours commuting. Prices in Palawan are of a wider range, and go from low budget to 5 star resorts, so in terms of variety it’s better than Boracay . If you must choose between the places discussed in this section, we feel that Boracay and Bohol are competing against one another, while Palawan is complimentary to both.

What to do in Boracay?

Our packages already cover all the must-see attractions in Boracay. However, you can still pick any of the specific day trips listed below and simply add those to your cart. It is important to note that you can obtain most of these tours from independent vendors standing outside resorts or at the beach, but we advise against it because many will try to rip you off.

Your safety and enjoyment are our priority, and that is why we only work with honest, trustworthy service providers. We promise to be with you all throughout your trip and handle any concern efficiently should it arise. Below, you can find a detailed overview of everything there is to do in Boracay. This should help you get a better idea of what type of activities you’d like to try out while staying there. For a breakdown of prices and complete itineraries, visit our Boracay day tour catalog .

Boracay Island hopping day tours

Puka beach at Boracay

Island hopping is a great way to fill up your days with sunny beaches and clear crystal waters. Most boat tours begin at Puka beach , and for good reason. The beach is as beautiful as the white beach but much quieter. It is the perfect place to lie in the sun and relax while enjoying the spectacular views.

Just 20 minutes by boat from White beach lies Crocodile Island . The shallow and calm waters around it make the island one of the best snorkeling spot in the area. From there it’s only a 15 minute ride to Crystal cove – a small, beautiful island with 2 coves to explore. You can access the first cove in the main picnic area through a spiral staircase. The second cove is harder to reach as you need to crawl through a tunnel first.

Another great location packed with adventure, just 30 minutes from Boracay, is Ariel’s Point. Listed as one of the best cliff diving spots in the world, the small island is also a great place for snorkeling or kayaking across the quiet shoreline. Magic Island is a closer option for those looking to round up their island hopping tour with some excitement – with cliff jumps ranging from 3 to 10 meters high.

Paraw sailing across Boracay and watching the sunset is the perfect way to end your day. The Paraw is a traditional Filipino fishing boat, used by the locals long before the island became a tourist destination. Its narrow build allows the boat to navigate smoothly across the waves while you enjoy a great panoramic view of the White beach during sunset.

Paraw sailing

All tours and attractions can be added to your custom Boracay package or obtained individually. Just like all other services we offer, tours can be completely tailor made to meet your exact wishes. They typically include hotel pick-up, personal guide and meals. If there’s anything else you want added, just let us know in advance and we’ll take care of it.

Diving tours and other extreme activities

In a country considered to be among the top diving destinations in the world, Boracay is usually overshadowed by other islands. Comparing it to hardcore diving destinations doesn’t really do it justice – since admittedly the diving spots here are far less impressive. That doesn’t mean however that you can’t dive in Boracay, or that you wouldn’t enjoy it still.

Since tourism is so well developed it’s no problem finding a professional dive club with great instructors. In fact, Boracay might be one of the best places for beginners to dive at. You could try it out here – and then continue to other places for more advanced and challenging dives. If that sounds like a good idea, check our diving packages for more detailed suggestions on how to plan your itinerary.

There are no less than 15 different dive sites in Boracay – featuring colorful corals and fish, caves and tunnels. Each of these locations is great for beginners, although some do require you already obtain an open water certificate. If you don’t have it yet – consider taking the 3 day course at one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Alternatively, you could just book a introduction dive tour, which takes 3-4 hours and include 1 dive – no prior experience is required.

There are quite a few dive resorts scattered around the White beach area – with some of them even being high-end luxury resorts. If you consider obtaining your PADI certificate here, it might be a good idea to book a complete Boracay diving package and stay at one of these resorts. Another added bonus is that this way you’ll be able to join a group, meet new friends and even save some money along the way.

For complete beginners who don’t want to dive at all, Boracay’s helmet diving is the best alternative. You’ll be taken to the helmet diving floating platform (20min. ride), where a licensed PADI instructor will brief and accompany you throughout your dive. Helmet diving offers a unique opportunity to walk on the sea floor and meet colorful fish face to face.

Want to include any of these activities into your Boracay vacation? Book any of our packages and get the best possible deals!

Fun and adventure in Boracay focus almost entirely around its waters, as one might expect. Jet-skis, Banana boats and flyfish rides are easy to find around the White beach area, and are perfectly safe and fun for the entire family. Most resorts offer these activities as part of their all-inclusive package.

Another notable site at the other side of the island is the Bulabog beach. It is a less crowded area and contrary to the White beach, Bulabog enjoys strong winds all year round. This is perfect for extreme water sports activities. Bulabog is the best kite-surfing site in Asia and it attracts a lot of surfing enthusiasts. There are quite a few surfing schools in the area, some of them world renowned, who offer a full package – kite surfing, parasailing, water-skiing and wake-boarding lessons.

Zipline and cable car is another fantastic activity offering a memorable experience. It begins with a climb to Mt. Luho – the island’s highest peak (112m) and then descending through the forest all the way down to a quiet, stunning beach. It’s the perfect way to appreciate Boracay’s landscape from a unique viewpoint.

Boracay nightlife – best bars and clubs

Virtually all nightlife is at White Beach, with only a few bars to be found at Diniwid beach and Bulabog beach. People who stay outside White Beach probably do so since they prefer a more quiet environment – but you can easily garb a tricycle and get to the party within 10 minutes or so.

If you’re looking for a bar, there’s a live band playing and generally speaking, the vibe is very chill and people are friendly you can go to station 2 just by waking by the beach. As mentioned, station 2 is where most of the action is in White Beach. This is where you’ll find all the best nightclubs and beach parties. Clubs usually start off at around midnight, when people start pouring in from the surrounding bars. Epic is the the most popular and looks the best – so if you are looking for a wild, crowded party this is the place to go to.

Other noteworthy clubs include Summer place (more westerners and less locals), Club Paraw (local favorite) and Cocomangas. All these station 2 clubs have an entrance fee. They usually run until pass 12mn, although it can last a bit longer if the party is good. If you want to skip the entrance fee, go to station 3’s Boracay Stars instead. This club is entirely indoors and is the only one with an air-con as well. Not as crowded as the others, it’s still a great place to party and have some fun.

When it comes to bars, our suggestion would be to just take a stroll across the entire White Beach strip until you see something you like. There are dozens of different places to choose from, and each has its own unique vibe. Sports bars, rock bars, live bands, reggae bars, loud dance music and chill beach bars are what you can expect to see here. Most bars charge 1-2 USD for local beer, so it’s a great place to drink and hang out until the party starts. They all typically close around midnight or 1 am, but some stay open longer than that if there are enough clients.

Hi…good evening….My family is planning to have a trip to Boracay on December 20-23,2018. Can i ask an advise and good and affordable offer from your agency please? We are 7persons… Hoping for your fast and detailed response. Thank you very much.

Hi Dolores and thanks for leaving a comment!

It’s a bit hard to give good advice and an accurate quote with so little information. From example – where are you coming from and do you need help with booking flights? How many rooms do you want to have? Interested in day tours as well?

Would be better if you can take a few minutes and fill out our inquiry form here . One of our agents will go over it and get back to you with a detailed offer.

Can you help me find cheapest but a good beachfront hotel?1room for 2 pax, roundtrip airfare from manila, date would be feb.13,2019 till feb.16,2019?I want all taxes included like environmental tax and other fees included please.Kindly give me a quotation for this and comparison off there’s activities included and meals please.Thank you and have a lovely day.

Regards, Patricia

Hi Patricia,

Please send an inquiry through our contact form. We would love to help you out, but some key information is missing.

Hi there, we a family of 8 or 13 will be in Boracay from the 24th to the 29th, we would like a quote on a private catamaran sunset trip, which would include a seafood lunch or give us the option of Halaal Indian food, what would this cost?

Thank you for your interest in our services. Please submit your inquiry through our contact form here for faster response.

Hello Travel East

I am planning to travel with my family. There will be 6 of us. My dad and mom are senior citizens (do you offer senior citizen discount?). Planning to stay for 3 days 2 nights. My family wants to stay in one family room with at least 3 double beds or as long as the room can accomodate 6 people. Arrival date will be August 16, 2019. Departure will be August 18, 2019 (airfare and hotel accomodation should be included). Roundtrip airfare from Manila to Boracay (vice versa). What is the best package rate you can offer?

Hi Rico and thank you for showing an interest in our services.

We do offer senior citizen discount but it depends on the policy of the hotel. Some hotels give a flat discount while others make the room VAT-free. For that reason, the price will vary based on the specific hotel you choose and it would be best if you discuss this directly with one of our agents.

Please leave an inquiry here , and our team will help you move forward with this vacation.

Philippines, Boracay Island

Getty Images

While only 7km tall and at its bikini line 500m wide, tiny Boracay is the Philippines' top tourist draw, fuelled by explosive growth and a tsunami of hype. The influx of visitors caused the Philippines government to temporarily close Boracay to tourists for six months. This 'rehabilitation' period, was used to restore the island to its former glory and it has since reopened with a limit on the number of daily visitors. The centre of the action is dreamy White Beach, a 4km, postcard-perfect stretch of sand lined from one end to the other with hotels, restaurants, bars and dive shops several blocks deep. The beach path is typically awash with visitors, including large groups of package tourists. The ocean is full of romantic paraws (an outrigger sailboat) giving rides; colourful parasails fill the air. After perfect sunsets, live music breaks out, and fire dancers twirl their batons.

A Guide to Vacationing in Boracay

boracay philippines tour

On an island called Boracay — one of the more than 7,000 that make up the Philippines —travelers sun on powder-like white sand while scattered sailboats off the shore lean into the warm breeze. It’s not heaven, but it’s pretty close.

In fact, Boracay is just one of three islands that scored a spot on Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Islands list in 2017. Seekers of island paradises have not tired of the Philippines’ allure, and Boracay remains one of the country’s best-loved escapes.

Boracay is wild at heart, and is distinguished for its fun-loving social scene. The island is, consequently, a magnet for beach bums, backpackers, and party animals from all corners of the world.

There’s always some excuse to celebrate here, and even those who don’t come to party will find plenty in the way of amusement. For such a small island (just five and a half miles long), Boracay is an energetic place. From shopping to parasailing or jungle cruises on ATVs, to after-dark performances by fire dancers, there’s a reason Boracay has earned the nickname “the island that never sleeps.”

Here’s everything you need to know to plan a perfect vacation on Boracay — including how to get there, which beaches to visit, and where to pick up high-end souvenirs.

Getting to Boracay

Boracay is surrounded by hundreds of islands in the heart of the Philippines, and though the capital, Manila, isn’t really that far away, you’ll still need to take a plane to get here. All flights arrive at one of two airports: Kalibo (the bigger, more built-up international hub) and Caticlan (a smaller, regional airport that sits adjacent to the island).

Neither airport are actually on Boracay, however, so once you land you’ll need to catch a ferry from Caticlan Jetty Port . The journey lasts 15 minutes, and the whole thing costs $5 round-trip.

If that sounds like too much work, consider booking a room at a hotel that includes inter-island transfers. T+L favorite Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, for example, shuttles guests via speedboat directly from Caticlan to the resort’s private jetty.

Picking the right beach

Every day of your vacation in Boracay will likely revolve around the beach. From lazy mornings spent floating in the crystal clear waters to the island-wide ritual of watching the sunset, life in Boracay simply happens on the beach. But each one has a distinct vibe.

Crowd-pleasing White Beach

Of the island’s 13 beaches, White Beach is easily the most famous. Spanning the island’s west coast, it covers two and a half miles, and is divided into three “stations.” Most of the island’s shopping malls, nightclubs, and hotels are concentrated here and, as a result, it’s quite a lively spot. Our favorite part? The wide, shallow sandbars that extend 200 feet from the shore, meaning you can wade out really far and still only be waist-deep in water.

Relaxed Yapak Beach

Also known as Puka Beach, this is the second largest beach on Boracay. Since it’s on the island’s northern, more exposed coast, the water gets a bit choppier. But Puka makes up for rough waves with its quiet, laid-back vibe. (Compared to White Beach, there are practically no nearby developments or hotels — hence, a less populated beach.) The beach’s name comes from the puka shells that wash up on the shore, making for a coarser texture on the soles of your feet. Pro tip: wear sandals, and pack a picnic lunch, since the restaurant selection here is limited.

Adventurous Bolabog Beach

On the east side of Boracay, Bolabog Beach is the must-visit spot for adventurous travelers. Best known as a destination for kiteboarders, there are numerous tour operators and outfitters ready to send you flying high into the air. At Greenyard , you’ll pay $140 for a 3-hour course that teaches you the basic setup and safety skills, how to launch from the water, and how to properly harness the wind’s power. For those interested in windsurfing, parasailing and other daredevil pursuits, there’s plenty of that available, too.

Coral-fringed Tambisaan Beach

If it’s snorkeling you’re after, head to Tambisaan Beach. In addition to being located at the island’s southern tip, away from the craziness of White Beach, it’s also home to the only true marine life on Boracay. There’s a rich coral garden less than 100 feet off the coast.

Shopping for dinner

Food is a big part of Filipino culture, and Boracay is no exception. Along the main stretch of White Beach, you’ll find countless street food carts, outdoor barbecue joints, and upscale restaurants that show off the country’s unique culinary influences. For something a little out of the ordinary, head to D’Talipapa, a bustling wet market on White Beach. Here, vendors show up each day with fresh-caught seafood, which can be purchased by the pound (bargaining for a lower price is all part of the fun), then brought to any of the surrounding restaurants and cooked to your liking.

Visiting during festival season

In case you hadn’t already heard, Boracay is a serious party destination. That may be most evident during LaBoracay — a celebration of Philippine Labor Day — which falls each year on May 1. Spanning the entire weekend, the lineup is a collection of all-night raves, concerts, regattas, and colorful events that take place across the island. May 1 also marks the official start to summer in the Philippines. Other festivals worth traveling for are Ati-Atihan in January (a traditional Filipino parade with street dancing and a feast) and the mesmerizing Dragonboat Festival in April.

37 BORACAY TOURIST SPOTS & Things to Do (with Prices!)

37 BORACAY TOURIST SPOTS & Things to Do (with Prices!)

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

Before you close the tab, hear us out! It’s easy to dismiss Boracay as a tiny island. Well, it is tiny, especially compared to other tourism juggernauts in the country like Cebu or Palawan. In postcards and photographs, it is often represented by a singular place — the world-famous White Beach . And understandably so. It’s hard to find another beach that could rival its powdery white sand and turquoise waters.

But White Beach isn’t the be-all and end-all of Boracay. There’s a reason countless travelers come back over and over again, and — spoiler alert — it’s not just to lie on the ivory grains filling its shores. Boracay may be small, but it is bursting with attractions and activities that cater to travelers of all types and ages. Its coast is naturally carved into smaller, quieter coves. Its streets are lined with restaurants that have become tourist spots in themselves. And its waters are constantly scribbled with slipstreams. You can even learn to dive and swim like a mermaid!

In this article, we’ll enumerate 30+ attractions that are in store for you in Boracay.

Note: Opening hours and package rates may change without prior notice, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing. Please check the official websites or Facebook pages of these attractions before visiting.

TOP BORACAY TOURIST ATTRACTIONS (Essential Links)

We have a lot to unpack in this post, but if you only have just a few days, it’s impossible to see all the attractions. So here are some of the top activities. We’ve also included Klook links to make it easy for you to book and see updated rates.

WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

WHITE BEACH

White Beach Boracay

White Beach is inarguably the most famous beach in Boracay and the most highlighted asset of Philippine tourism. The long stretch of fine white sand has captured the hearts of many travelers worldwide. It has repeatedly earned a place on numerous lists compiled by various international travel organizations and magazines.

White Beach dominates two-thirds of the western coast of Boracay. It is divided into three stations: Station 1 and 2 in Balabag and Station 3 in Manoc-Manoc. As the island’s most developed and popular area, business establishments such as accommodations, restaurants, bars, cafés, and souvenir shops line the coast. Station 1 mostly hosts luxury resorts, while Station 3 features budget lodgings. Most restaurants and shops are located in Station 2, making it the base for most tourists.

White Beach has quite the roster of activities for eager beachgoers — sunbathing, swimming, sunset watching, and water sports activities. It is also the main jump-off point for island-hopping tours and diving trips.

Crystal Kayak

Boracay Crystal Kayak

It’s crystal clear that this is THE newest rave in Boracay. It’s all over social media — people posting glossy magazine-type photos of themselves in a transparent kayak, with the emerald to sapphire water adding oomph to each snap.

Don’t know how to pose and project? No worries! The boatman, who also serves as your photographer, will guide and instruct you. They know all the right poses and flattering angles! I personally don’t know how to project or pose, but my boatman made me feel at ease and confident through his instructions. By leveling up the quality of your photos, these crystal kayaks amplify your island getaway experience, making it more memorable.

Take advantage of the water’s vibrant sheen on a clear sunny day for this particular photo op. Don’t forget to bring your sunglasses!

It’s easy to book a crystal kayak. Just approach any of the boatmen or skippers on White Beach (from Station 1 to 3), Puka Beach, or any of Boracay Newcoast’s private beaches. Or they may approach you. Quite persistently, too. It’s cheaper if you book when you’re there, but if you’d rather book online, you may reserve via Guide to the Philippines: RESERVE OR CHECK RATES HERE! ✅

Location: White Beach, Puka Beach, Boracay Newcoast Rate: Starts at P250 per person. (P1000 on some online booking sites) Duration: 15-20 minutes

Standup Paddling

Standup Paddling

If the idea of just lazing on the sand sounds boring to you, then make a stand. On a paddleboard, if you dare. Long before crystal kayaks dominated Boracay’s beachscape, stand up paddling or paddleboarding rules White Beach. It is one of the ideal places for beginners to practice and indulge in the activity because of its calm waters. Paddle with your friends or family with the beautiful seascape as your backdrop! Rates: 30-Minute, P500 / 1-Hour, P700

You can also find discounted stand-up paddling experiences on Klook!

Paraw Sailing

Boracay Paraw Sailing

One of Boracay’s most recognizable icons, the paraw is an outrigger boat bearing two iconic triangular sails. It’s even more romantic during sunset, when the Boracay beachscape, particularly White Beach, transforms into a huge shadow play stage with the paraws as the main characters and the sunset aiding the performance as a natural lighting director.

Swim and Laze

Boracay Beach

The best thing about White Beach is, it’s so incredibly beautiful, I don’t need to tour or pay for any of the attractions to appreciate it. I could simply laze on the beach and swim in its shallow waters the entire afternoon and I would be content. In fact, I’d gone on trips to Boracay wherein I didn’t do anything other than swim or walk along White Beach. And before I forget, there’s one more thing that White Beach can brag about…

Boracay Sunset

Paraw Sailing

Ahhhhh the unbelievably stunning Boracay sunset!

Words are not enough to describe its beauty. It WILL leave you speechless. Just look at the photo! If that’s not enough, just Google “Boracay sunset.” It perfectly embodies the saying, “The best things in life are free.”

But if you’re at or around Station 2, don’t expect to have a tranquil sunset moment as you will be sharing the space with countless of other tourists who are all after the same thing. You’ll find quieter corners in other stations.

Boracay Nightlife

Boracay Nightlife

And when the sun goes down, the island transforms!

Boracay earned the well-deserved nickname “Party Island” for its bustling nightlife. Nowadays, the party scene at night might not be as wild, loud, and abundant as before, but the island still hosts bars where tourists can enjoy some drinks while grooving along to live bands.

ISLAND HOPPING

Boracay Island Hopping

There’s more to Boracay than White Beach. The island’s jagged corners are filled with fair sand, creating shorter but still stunning beaches. There are also smaller islands around it. You can set foot in some of them by joining a boat tour.

A Boracay join-in boat tour usually has four (4) stops:

  • Puka Shell Beach
  • Crystal Cove (Island)
  • buffet lunch stop
  • a coral garden (snorkeling site)

Some tour operators change or rearrange stops, others add one or two more. But a tour usually lasts eight (8) hours. Pick up is at either Station 1 or 3, the exact time varies depending on the operator. Most tours cost PHP 800-900 (USD 14.30-16.10) per person.

As you explore the island, you may be approached by touts offering this tour. If you prefer booking with Klook, it’s possible too. You’ll find the link to the Klook tour below.

✅ RESERVE A SLOT or CHECK ITINERARY HERE!

Here are more bits of info about each stop.

Puka Beach Boracay

Puka Beach is one of the most picturesque beaches of Boracay, perhaps second only to White Beach. It is als a staple in island hopping tour itineraries.

It used to be the sanctuary for travelers seeking a quiet escape from the constant and sometimes incessant buzzing of White Beach. Located in Barangay Yapak, it is neatly tucked away in the northen tip of the island. However, over the past few years, it has attracted more and more tourists that it no longer is the silent sanctuary it once was. Today, you’ll also find here many of the same activities that are common along White Beach, from crystal kayak to henna tattoo to braiding services.

That’s not to say that you should skip it. Puka Beach’s beauty remains intact; thanks to its wide beach, strewn with fine sand on one end and puka shells on the other, after which the beach was most likely named.

Boat tours often allot 45 to 60 minutes to Puka Beach, which may not be enough. Some operators urge guests to go crystal kayaking here, but don’t. It will just eat up your already limited time, when you can try it elsewhere. Just use the time you have exploring the beach.

If you want to swim, venture to the parts where the waves are calmer. Find a spot to spread your beach blanket and chill. And should you ever get hungry, you can grab a snack from one of the food stores/stalls.

You’ll also find a couple of photo spots here, both proving to be extremely popular among tourists, as evident in the long queues.

Although Puka Beach is the highlight of the island hopping tour, it can also be accessed by land. You may join an e-trike tour or just come here directly by e-trike.

Location: Puka Beach, Barangay Yapak, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan

Coral Garden

Boracay Coral Reef Snorkeling Site

Every boat tour makes a stop at a coral garden for those who wish to go snorkeling. The boat is moored not too far from the coast, in our case, just off Balinghai Beach. Here, you’ll get a sneak peek into the marine life and scenery that surround the island.

While we believe that each destination has its charm, we also believe in managing expectations of our readers. The spot we were brought to was not as vibrant or as alive and kicking as the other sites I’ve visited elsewhere in the Philippines. If you’ve been to Palawan or Bohol, you may find snorkeling here underwhelming.

If you decide to go snorkeling, you’ll need to pay an extra P45. (No need to pay if you’re staying on the boat.)

Remember to use reef-friendly sunscreen! Bring your waterproof camera for the best photos, and bring your own snorkeling gear for hygienic purposes. It’s also best to wear your life vest at all times, as the waves may suddenly change and overwhelm you.

Crystal Cove

Crystal Cove Boracay

Off the coast of Boracay lies Laurel island or Tiguatian Island, which harbors Crystal Cove, a two-hectare resort peppered with almost irresistible viewpoints. But the main highlight is its caves adorned with interesting rock formations, which serve as a powerful background for photos. You may also check out the mini museum and aviary or go swimming and snorkeling.

Boracay Crystal Cove Photo Spots

The resort charges an additional P300 entrance fee, which is NOT included in the island hopping tour rate. If you opt to enter the resort, purchase a ticket at the booth by the gate. Otherwise, if you wish to not enter and stay on the beach, no need to pay anything. While waiting for the guests who chose to enter, you may simply chill on the sand, head for a swim, or quench your thirst with fresh coconut juice at P100 a piece. Banana que is also available at P35 per stick.

Location: Crystal Cove, Malay, Aklan Entrance Fee: P300/pax

Magic Island

Magic Island Boracay

Magic Island is a small islet between Crystal Cove and mainland Panay Island. In fact, from the beach of Crystal Cove, you could have a good look at its rocks, rising from the blue waters. But these rocks are not just cliffs. To some thrill-seekers, these are diving platforms.

The truth is, most island hopping tours do NOT make a stop at Magic Island, even when it’s included in the list of attractions plastered on the pamphlets that touts use to attract customers. Most tours simply pass by it on the way to Canyon Cove, and you could only admire it from a distance.

So if you’re into cliff jumping, double check if the tour you’re booking will indeed make a stop at Magic Island. And double check with the boatman before boarding, for good measure. Or just charter your own boat.

For cliff jumpers, a stop at Magic Island could be worth the trouble. It has five different diving platforms, perched at varying heights —- 3, 5, 7, 9, and 10 meters. The P250 entrance fee includes unlimited cliff dives. But do note that there’s nothing much else to do here aside from cliff jumping, eating lunch, and some picture taking,

Location: Magic Island, Malay, Aklan Entrance Fee: P250/person

Crocodile Island

Crocodile Island is one of the few islets off the southeastern coast of Boracay and a usual island-hopping stop. If you check Google Maps, the aerial view looks nothing like a crocodile. However, viewing it from a certain angle as your boat approaches the island will show you how it gets its name. Though the island is rocky and uninhabited, with little vegetation, its underwater scenery draws the attention of divers and snorkelers.

Earlier, we mentioned that join-in boat tours usually have a snorkeling stop. For some, that stop is here, just off the coast of Crocodile Island. It can also be reached by private boat. Some tourists kayak around the island from Tambisaan Beach, the main jump-off point to Crocodile Island.

Location: Crocodile Island, Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan

If you are interested in joining an island-hopping tour that includes Crocodile Island, Crystal Cove Island, and/or Magic Island in the itinerary, you can book it with Klook! Check the itinerary and the inclusions before booking to ensure the package suits your preferences.

E-TRIKE LAND TOUR

E-Trike Boracay

Aside from island hopping, another way to see much of Boracay is by e-trike or electric tricycle. It is now the most common mode of transportation around the island, and you may charter one to take you around. The approved fare is P500 per hour, maximum of 4 passengers per vehicle. To be clear, that’s P500 per e-trike per hour. NOT per person.

But if you’re a big group, it’ll be much more cost-efficient to arrange a multi-cab service instead. A multi-cab can accommodate up to 10 passengers for only P700 per hour.

  • E-Trike Tour P500/hour Maximum of 4 pax
  • Multi-cab Tour P700/hour Maximum of 10 pax

To arrange a land tour, you may simply hail an e-trike in the streets. In our many visits to Boracay, we encountered drivers who charge more even for short-distance rides, so when we meet honest drivers, we try to help them by sharing their numbers. And one of them is Kuya Ambro. He did not overcharge us. Here’s his number.

  • Kuya Ambro E-Trike service +63 943 1304164
  • Kuya Bong Multicab service +63 939 823 8198

Unlike boat tours with fixed itinerary, an e-trike tour is very flexible. Because you’re charged by the hour, you dictate where to go and how long to stay at each stop. Most drivers have a suggested itinerary but it’s ultimately up to you whether to follow that or make your own.

Boracay Island Tour Tricycle

To be honest, the highlight of any land tour is also Puka Beach, which we already discussed earlier. But aside from that, here are the other places you may visit.

Cujo’s Keyhole

Boracay Keyhole

As development continues and more tourists search for other places to explore on the island, Cujo’s Keyhole quickly became a must-see attraction in Boracay.

Dubbed “The Keyhole” by many, Cujo’s Keyhole is located within the upscale Boracay Newcoast, a private real estate and resort development on the island’s northeast coast. Not to worry! Everyone is welcome to visit. The management of Boracay Newcoast lets non-guests in. Most tourists come here via e-trike or a tricycle tour which includes a Keyhole stop in the itinerary. If you’d like to DIY a visit to the Keyhole, eTrike fare from the White Beach area to Boracay Newcoast is P300, one-way.

To protect the rock formation, parts of the area have been cordoned off to prevent entry beyond the safety line. Visitors can only take photos of it and with it as the background. However, you are free to explore the Lapuz-Lapuz Beach nearby and even avail of the crystal kayak experience there.

Location: Boracay Newcoast, Barangay Yapak, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan

‼️ Update: Mt. Luho is currently CLOSED.

Mt Luho Viewpoint Boracay Aklan Philippines

Less of a mountain and more of a hill, Mt. Luho lies near Bulabog Beach. As the island’s highest peak, you can find spots to get good views of Bulabog Beach, Ilig-Iligan Beach, the sea, and the surrounding areas. However, since it has been a while since we had been here, we’re not sure if the man-made observation deck is still open.

Mount Luho is also usually included in ATV ride packages offered by various tour operators.

Location: Mount Luho, Barangay Balabag, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan

Lugutan Mangrove Park

Boracay Mangrove Park

The Lugutan Mangrove Park (sometimes called simply Boracay Mangroves) covers a hectare of shallow waters in Barangay Manoc-manoc, south of Bulabog Beach. Opened in 2012, it originally had 2000 mangroves but the number had grown since. Today, a boardwalk skirts through and around the mangroves, punctuated with photo stops.

The Lugutan Mangrove Park is a collaboration between the local government of Malay, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Tanduay Distillers Inc., and the Tan Yan Kee Foundation.

No entrance fee is collected here, but visitors must register at a small table across the road from the mangroves. If you’re a big group, a representative can register for everyone.

Sinagpa Beach and Lambros Point

Sinagpa Beach refers to the short and narrow strip of sand that separates White Beach in the southeast and Diniwid Beach in the northwest. Doesn’t ring a bell? That’s because the term “Sinagpa” is used primarily by locals, while tourists usually just refer to its very tip — Lambros Point , best known for its rocky cliffs and a concrete walkway that loops to Diniwid.

Lambros Point

Lambros Point is most recognizable by a picturesque natural opening that creates a small arch. Just next to it is a statue of the Virgin Mary. It is also a favorite cliff-diving spot for local kids in the area.

Diniwid Beach

DIniwid Beach

Diniwid Beach is a semi-hidden beach adjacent to White Beach. Access it via a rocky path connecting Station 1 to the smaller, quieter white sand beach.

The sand may not be as powdery fine as that of White Beach, but the clear and calm waters make it worth your while. It is the nearest option if you want to quickly escape the crowded shore of the most popular beach on the island. Consider booking your accommodation in one of the hotels in the area if tranquility is what you are after. You only have to traverse the walking path to reach White Beach’s Stations 1, 2, and 3 for more dining options or explore the whole powdery stretch.

Diniwid Beach is also an excellent spot for watching the sunset, so expect the beach to get a little more crowded than usual at dusk.

Location: Diniwid Beach, Din-Iwid Road, Barangay Yapak, Boracay, Malay, Aklan

Ilig-Iligan Beach

Ilig-Iligan Beach

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the tourism hub, scour the northern portion of the island and you’ll find its many secluded beaches. One of them is Ilig-Iligan Beach, another tranquil stretch of fine white sand. It is another worthy candidate for a Puka Beach alternative, but there are very few establishments and basic amenities — paid restroom/toilet at best. Strap your snorkeling gear, go sunbathing, and savor the serenity.

Location: Ilig-Iligan Beach, Barangay Yapak, Boracay, Malay, Aklan

Bulabog Beach

Bulabog Beach Boracay

Running parallel to White Beach on the west, Bulabog Beach can be reached within 10-15 minutes on foot or about 5 minutes via an e-trike from Stations 1, 2, or 3.

It may not have the well-loved powdery white sand shore of White Beach, but the windy coast welcomes adrenaline junkies. The beach hosts operators offering gear rentals and lessons, especially for kitesurfing/windsurfing. Other water sports activities are also available, like parasailing and jet skiing. There are also other tourist facilities like restaurants and lodgings.

There’s also a giant BORACAY signage here, perfect for a photo-op.

And while White Beach hogs the spotlight for what many regard as the best sunset of their lives, Bulabog rewards those who flee from the crowd a gorgeous sunrise for keeps.

Location: Bulabog Beach, Barangay Balabag, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan

WATER SPORTS & OTHER ACTIVITIES

Parasailing.

parasailing boracay

How about a bird’s eye view of Boracay while strapped to a parachute hinged onto a speedboat?

For the adventurous, this will surely make you scream your heart out in awe and excitement. Enjoy the unique top-view of the island and capture the moment with an action camera or ask the boat staff to take your photos. It’s cheaper to do it with a companion during the off-peak season.

Banana Boat Boracay

Banana boat rides have become a beach experience staple. It’s one of the most thrilling ways to bond with your family, friends, or even colleagues. There’s no better feeling than to share roars of laughter as you go on a bumpy and bouncy ride atop Boracay’s waters.

Note that this is not recommended for children below 13 years.

Rate: P450 per person Book your banana boat ride through Klook! The package will include a 15-minute Banana boat ride, life jacket, and helmet. ✅ CHECK RATES & RESERVE SLOT HERE!

UFO Inflatable Ride

UFO Ride Boracay

Ever heard of a UFO ride in Boracay? No, we’re not talking about alien sightings.

UFO rides work the same way as banana boat rides, which rip you through the waves on an inflatable banana-shaped boat. But instead of straddling an enormous fruit, prepare to be swept away and whipped around on a round air-filled saucer. Think of it as a UFO on water. Very that. But more fun.

Packages for UFO (or Hurricane) rides typically cover the 15-minute ride experience, safety gear, and life jackets.

Rate: P700 per person Score a deal when you book with Klook! ✅ CHECK RATES & RESERVE SLOT HERE!

Scuba Diving

Have you ever wondered how it feels to see marine life up close? Then dive deeper into the otherworldly realm under the waves! Don’t know how? No worries! Turn your Boracay trip into an opportunity to learn something new by taking a few scuba diving classes.

Many diving resorts on the island offer introductory courses for beginners. Some of them don’t require prior diving experience. Even the worst of swimmers are welcome at some dive spots. The instructors and the divemaster will guide you every step of the way and will teach you the proper breathing and handling of equipment.

Introductory Dive Rates: Solo, P5000 / Group of 2-6, P3500 per person You can reserve a slot through Klook! The introductory course includes a PADI-certified dive instructor, full dive gear and equipment, one dive session, a towel, and bottled drinking water. ✅ CHECK RATES & RESERVE SLOT HERE!

Helmet Diving

Helmet Diving

Not ready for scuba diving yet? How about helmet diving ? Also called sea walking, this is another alternative if you just want to appreciate Boracay’s colorful marine life without donning wetsuits and oxygen tanks. It’s like strolling along the park but you have the ocean floor for gravel. However, this activity is not recommended if you have ear problems or are claustrophobic.

Rate: P1000 per person You can also book this activity on Klook. The package includes a PADI-qualified dive instructor, boat ride, gear and equipment, and a soft copy of photos and video. ✅ CHECK RATES & RESERVE SLOT HERE!

Kite Surfing/Wind Surfing

Kitesurfing Boracay

The go-to spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing in Boracay is Bulabog Beach, which stretches along the island’s eastern coast.

If you want to catch the best wind condition, a Boracay trip during the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) season, which happens from November (or late October) to March (or early April), is ideal. During this season, the wind velocity ranges from 15 to 25 knots and may even reach more than 30 knots.

Want to try it but don’t know where to begin? Several kitesurfing and windsurfing schools dot the shores of Bulabog. This is your best chance to learn the said sports because Boracay caters to beginners and professionals alike.

You can book on site or online via Guide to the Philippines: SEE UPDATED RATES HERE! ✅

Location: Bulabog Beach, Barangay Balabag, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan Opening Hours: Kitesurfing/Windsurfing schools and rentals usually open at 7:00 AM and close at 6:00 PM. Kitesurfing/Windsurfing Lessons Rate: P3,500 to P25,000 (depending on inclusions and number of sessions)

Rates: 15-Minute Ride, P2200 per jetski / 30-Minute Ride, P3800 per jetski You can check the rates on Klook and choose how long you wish to do water zoomies — 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour. Operators usually have an easy outdoor trail that is suitable for beginners but could still give you that adrenaline rush. A guide will teach you how to properly control it and conduct a safety briefing. A session usually lasts 30 minutes, from morning to mid-afternoon.

One package available on Guide to the Philippines includes meeting your guide at White Beach before going to the trail. But double check inclusions and other details before booking.

While Boracay cradles several public beaches, including the most iconic White Beach, it also harbors several private coves. If you’re looking for an exclusive beach experience and are willing to splurge for your dream vacation or well-deserved holiday, consider staying in a luxury hotel that has access to a private beach.

Drinks and cocktails are available at the bar. Stalls selling snacks, souvenirs, and non-alcoholic beverages occupy the last paved strip before reaching the sandy shore of the cove. You can also avail of the crystal kayak experience here.

Cove 1 has a concrete pathway leading down to its rugged beachscape. This is the usual spot for sunrise watching within the NewCoast property.

Carabao Island (Romblon)

Carabao Island

Also referred to as Hambil Island, Carabao Island is a pristine tropical paradise in Romblon’s San Jose municipality. From Boracay, you may simply book a boat tour to Carabao Island and be back within the day.

Its nooks and crannies are filled with white sand, punctuated by cliff diving sites and lined with highly Instagrammable coconut trees.

Do they offer tiger shark diving?. if so how much roughly?

ANUKRATI DOSI

Wow! Never knew there are so many things to do in Boracay. I would love to cover the maximum attractions, and then indulge in a quiet spa.

Ri Za

For the E-trike tour, how long would it normally be? Let’s say you want to go to at least 4 of the places in there? Thank you!

Yosh Dimen

Ours took 5 hours for 5 spots, but we spend a loooong time, over an hour at Puka Beach.

So I’d say 3 hours for 4 spots is reasonable.

Boracay Tours & Vacation Packages

boracay philippines tour

Boracay is a tropical island in the Philippines , situated 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Visayas archipelago. Stretching 7 kilometres (4 miles) in length, the island features white sandy beaches, hilly terrain, and crystal clear waters, and is small enough to navigate by bicycle or motorbike on a Philippines vacation.

Once home to the Ati tribe, Boracay started development in 1900, when a Panay Island couple started buying substantial properties on the island, planting fruit trees, coconuts, and greenery. As the development of Boracay continued, tourism was introduced in the 1970s. Known as a budget tourist hotspot for backpackers in the 1980s, Boracay soon became an acclaimed destination, offering gorgeous beaches, numerous beach resorts, an 18-hole golf course, restaurants, and nightlife on Philippines vacation packages.

White Beach is the most popular tourist beach, as it spans a substantial length of Boracay’s west coast. Lined with various resorts, White Beach’s central section is the commercial hub of Boracay, featuring various shops, pubs, and restaurants.

On Boracay’s east coast, Bulabog Beach is ideal for windsurfing and kiteboarding. It plays host to the annual Boracay International Funboard Cup, bringing competitors from all over the world.

For adventure seekers of another kind, Boracay features the Bat Cave. Located on the northwest end of the island, the cave houses many small insectivorous bats, while fruit bats reside on the hillside above Punta Bunga Beach.

An hour’s flight away from Manila to the north and Cebu to the south, Boracay’s renowned beaches have earned awards from numerous travel publications. Whether relaxing on the beach, partaking in various water sports such as snorkeling or scuba diving, or enjoying an avid nightlife on a Philippines vacation, Boracay is truly an island paradise!

2024 BORACAY TRAVEL GUIDE (ITINERARY + BUDGET)

by thepinay solobackpacker | Mar 9, 2024 | Aklan , Boracay , Itinerary , Philippines , Travel Guide | 0 comments

Detailed Boracay travel guide with DIY Boracay itinerary with budget including places to see in Boracay.

The sun-drenched Boracay has brazenly succumbed to tourism. It placed the Philippines on the tourists’ radar because of its impeccable palm-fringed, powdery, white shore cuddled by turquoise, warm sea. But there’s more to Boracay than its world-famous White Beach, the island is also packed water sports activities, beach parties, good food and fruit shakes, and friendly locals to boot.

TRAVEL BLOG CONTENTS

BORACAY PRE-TRAVEL GUIDE

About boracay.

The influx of tourists in Boracay started sometime in 1970’s, when the it was used as filming locations of the US movies Nam’s Angels and Too Late Hero. After that, in 1978, German Writer Jens Peter mentioned Boracay as paradise on Earth in his book about the Philippines. Since then, foreign backpackers started to travel to Boracay and it quickly became a budget beach destination. Back in the days, Boracay is just one of the unfamiliar places in the province of Aklan, in the Philippines inhabited by the Ati and Tumandok, the indigenous people of Panay Island who thrive on coconut farming, fishing, and goat raising.

Sadly, as Boracay quickly became one of the world’s best beach destination and developed as a prime tourist destination, the Ati and Tumandok people, the original inhabitants of the island, were displaced on a mere 2.1 hectare walled community. Dexter Condez, the spokesperson of the Boracay Ati Tribal Organization (BATO) was gunned down, and the suspect is a security guard of a popular hotel chain. BATO, accused the management of the hotel and 2 other nearby resorts as allegedly interested in the lot occupied by the Ati people. The hotel strongly denied any involvement in the murder.

It is unfortunate that despite being the original residents of Boracay, the Ati and Tumandok people seem to have lost their rights and place in the island. Over the years, only a few of them work in hotels and restaurants around Boracay, when they should be the first ones benefitting from the influx of tourists there. I have visited other ASEAN countries, and I’ve seen how proud they are of their culture. They found a way to somehow preserve, integrate, and showcase their local culture and the way of life of the indigenous people to help educate visitors. Hopefully, in the near future, tourism in Boracay can create better economic opportunities for the Ati and Tumandok, after all, the island is originally their ancestral territory.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT BORACAY?

BORACAY ITINERARY: OFF-PEAK SEASON IN BORACAY

Boracay is a tropical beach destination, its peak season is around late March to May, the summer months in the Philippines. But take note that since it is the peak season, expect the prices of flights and hotels to skyrocket. Also, there are lots of tourists during the summer. If you want to travel with less tourist, best time to visit Boracay is around January to early March, before the peak season. August to November is low season, due to the rainy season and typhoons in the Philippines, but prices can be pretty low during this season, so if you want to save on flights and hotels, you can try visiting Boracay at your own risk during this season. Best to check the weather updates before your trip though.

While most accommodations, cafes, and restaurants in Boracay offer free internet, having your own pocket Wi-Fi is still recommended. You can connect securely online when you have your own Wi-Fi and you can stay connected online even outside the confines of your resort or hotel.

PHILIPPINES POCKET WI-FI: RENT HERE

Boracay atm.

There are a handful of ATMs in Boracay (BDO, BPI, and Metrobank) and money exchange centers. Best to stack up on cash when in the island because almost everything is on a cash basis. Some establishments and hotels accept major credit cards.

BORACAY DRONE

Is drone allowed in Boracay? NO. I was told they no longer allow flying drone for personal use. As for business use, you need to secure a permit at the Municipal Mayor’s Office, fees may apply.

BORACAY SAFETY:

Is it safe to travel to Boracay? Yes, of course. Boracay is a tourist-friendly place and has been receiving tourists from around the world since time immemorial. Locals here are easy going and pretty friendly. But you have to understand that lately, due to the pandemic, which led to unemployment and closure of many businesses around the island, many locals are desperate to earn a living, so, please forgive some touts if they can be quite persistent to sell you tours or souvenirs. Thing is, Boracay is heavily dependent on tourism, that’s why the suffered a major blow when Covid-19 struck the world in 2020, because of the travel restrictions imposed by many countries. But overall, Boracay is still a great and safe destination to visit and enjoy, if you are looking to travel soon. It is also safe for solo female travelers, but I’d still recommend visiting in groups since it’s a beach destination that you’d cherish more if you are with your loved one, family, friends, or colleagues.

Where to stay in boracay.

During my multiple visits in Boracay, I stayed at different hotels in different areas. One is located in Station 3, another in Diniwid Beach, and there’s also one in Station 2. The most convenient is the one at Station 2 of course, but I also liked my stay at Diniwid Beach it is quiet and the sunset was really great. Meanwhile, what I like about my hotel at Station 3 is, it’s inexpensive. But my personal favorite is the one hidden in Bulabog Beach – Ferra Hotel and Garden Suites because it is spotless and has excellent customer service. You can read my full review through the blog link below.

1.swim at boracay white beach.

Mention Boracay and the image of White Beach with Willy’s Rock immediately comes to mind. This jaw-dropping beach has powdery white shore lapped by a beautiful blend of blue and mint water. Tourists from all over the world are drawn to White Beach, which is now dotted with hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, and souvenir shops. It is usually pretty busy during the summer months. White Beach deserves its fame, it boasts of the finest sand and definitely one of the best beaches I’ve visited in the Philippines. Even its seafloor has powdery sand, which makes it ideal for swimming.

White Beach is divided into 3 Stations: Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3. Station 1 and 2 has finer sand compared to Station 3, and it is where most mid-ranged and luxury hotels are located. That’s where you can find the posted boy of Boracay – Willy’s Rock. Meanwhile. Station 3 is where most budget hotels are concentrated and is pretty popular to backpackers in Boracay.

How to get to White Beach: Take a tricycle to D’Mall. From there, you can walk to Boracay White Beach Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3.

2.Boracay Island Hopping

BORACAY ISLAND HOPPING

You can join a Boracay Island Hopping Tour that typically costs ₱1,000 ($20) to ₱1,500 ($31) per person depending on the agency. The group tour usually includes buffet lunch and roundtrip transfer to your hotel, entrance fee is typically excluded, you may have to pay separately. The Boracay Island Hopping Tour usually includes a visit to:

3.Boracay Land Tour

If you want to explore other far more peaceful Boracay beaches without taking a boat, you can do so by hiring a tricycle for ₱500 ($10), good for 2-3 persons. Alternatively, you can also rent an ATV for ₱800 ($17) – ₱1,000 ($21) per unit, good for 2 pax, and visit Mt. Luho Viewpoint. I took a tricycle tour during my last trip to Boracay and I enjoyed it, especially the view of Boracay from Mt. Luho Viewpoint. The farther beaches of Boracay are undeniably more tranquil and still retains the appearance of a fishing village.

Boracay is well-known for its delicious fruit shake, and Jony’s Fruitshake is the original in the island, founded in 1982. I was lucky enough to meet the amiable owner of Jony’s Fruitshake – Mr. Dionisio “Jony” Salme, who also owns Maya’s Restaurant, Pig Out Bistro, Jony’s Resort, and Jony’s Boutique Hotel. Jony’s Fruitshake is also served at Maya’s Restaurant and Pig Out Bistro.

Boracay itinerary: Jony's Fruitshake

Mang Jony is the long-time President of Boracay Business Foundation Incorporated (BFI), an organization of business owners in Boracay. He told me how he arrived in Boracay, back in March 2, 1972, when there was no electricity yet in the island. Back then, Boracay is still virtually empty, occupied mostly by Ati and Tumandok indigenous people, and a few foreign backpackers who visit the island occasionally. Mang Jony, who is originally from Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, worked for the Elizalde Group of Companies. But due to the land grabbing issues during the Marcos era, he was assigned to Boracay by his boss to manage the properties of Elizalde Family like the age-old D’Mall and a local radio station. Since there was no electricity yet, they use a generator. Jony’s Fruitshake started when an Austrian Dutch Backpacker who visited Boracay had a blender with him and sold him the blender when he went back to his country. Apparently, the young guy got tired because there was no place to charge his blender. Since they have a generator, Mang Jony eventually bought it, but said it was pretty expensive to maintain it since they had to travel all the way to Kalibo, which takes a whole day, just to buy gasoline for the generator to run the blender, to buy ice, and to buy fruits. Fortunately, a co-worker gifted him a refrigerator powered by kerosene where he made ice. Soon enough, foreign tourists started lining up for his fruit shakes. He then added Mexican food to his menu, like tacos and burritos, since that’s what the foreigners like back then. He set up umbrellas and tables along White Beach, and the rest is history. Today, you can get Jony’s Fruitshake beside Maya’s Restaurant and at Pig Out Bistro.

6.Boracay Food Trip

Boracay may not be the best place in the Philippines to go on a food trip, but it sure has a handful of relaxed restaurants and cozy cafés that serve both unfussy and creative dishes. Also, take note that because of Covid-19, many restaurants, cafes, and bars have closed. Here’s some of my personal favorites:

boracay travel guide: Pig Out Bistro

  Pig Out Bistro

If you are wondering what Boracay looked like before the arrival of tourists, a huge mural painting inspired by one of the remaining old photos of Boracay taken by Dieter Schrottmann can be seen on the wall of the Pig Out Bistro in Boracay. But aside from the painting, what draws tourists to this tiny café is its ingenious food. Take for example the fresh oysters from Aklan, like the Oyster Mignonette, which, as its name suggests is garnished with mignonette sauce to balance out the brininess of the oyster. My favorite is the Green Oyster relished with herbed compound butter. And there’s also Oyster and Pearl, savored with egg roe, cucumber, and dill. If you’re in a group, try the seafood platter composed of grilled prawns, octopus, and gindara , oyster mignonette, baked oyster, steamed clams, and garlic steamed clams.

Maya’s Restaurant

This good old restaurant has been in Boracay since 1982, it was founded by Mang Dionisio “Jony” the same year as Jony’s Fruitshake. Maya is derived from the local name of a bird and the name of the indigenous people of Mexico – the Mayans, because the resto serves both Filipino and Mexican cuisines.

boracay food trip

The palm-fringed Maya Restaurant is a beach-front diner located in White Beach Station 1 in Boracay, in front of Jony’s Hotel and beside Jony’s Fruitshake. It exudes an airy, tropical atmosphere and the interior is decked with modern-designed rattan chairs where you can sit snugly while sipping your favorite Jony’s Fruitshake.

The dishes here are also created by Chef Jun Salme of the Pig Out Bistro. The Mexican flavors include: Tacos Al Pastor , comprised of homemade fresh corn tortilla, slow-cooked pork, avocado, beans, onions, and cilantro rice. The Carnitas Burrito was inspired by the shared recipe of a former Mexican Ambassador to the Philippines. Meanwhile, some of my favorite Filipino cuisines at Maya’s Restaurant are the Kansi – softened beef bone marrow stewed in lemon grass, ginger, and batwan , and of course, the Lechon Kawali – the popular pork belly served in small kawali , which is oven-steamed to preserve the crunchiness of the skin and the juiciness of the fat.

Other Places to Eat in Boracay

Nonie’s restaurant: reserve here, station x dip and dine experience: reserve here, 7.boracay sunset watching.

The sunset of Boracay is legendary. It is a big attraction on the island, while enjoying your fruit shake or beer at a beach-front café or a nearby swanky restaurant.

BORACAY TRAVEL GUIDE: PARAW SAILING

But if you want an extraordinary sunset watching experience, try the Boracay Paraw Sailing tours during sunset. In the Philippines, “paraw” is a term for small boat with two katig (outrigger) that is propelled by sail. And there’s a plethora of paraw boats on the beach of Boracay used for sunset watching activity. Paraw can accommodate up to 8-10 persons. Basically, you will ride the paraw and glide along the cerulean sea during sunset. Book ahead below to reserve a seat.

8.boracay pub crawl.

Boracay is well-known for its night life. Back in the days, during my first time in the island we met some friendly fire dancers who took us to local bars in the island where locals party like there’s no tomorrow. Nowadays, if you’re into party scenes, best to join the Boracay Pub Crawl where an experienced local guide will take you different popular bars in Boracay and get free shots and special drinks at every stop while still enjoying different activities.

9.buy boracay souvenirs.

boracay souvenirs

For a beach destination, Boracay is surprisingly a shopping haven, oozing with boutiques, souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes, and bistros. Its compact downtown area is perfect for shopping, strolling, and people-watching at an outdoor cafe. There are also souvenir stores in Puka Beach selling all kinds of beach outfits and Boracay souvenirs made of local materials.

  10. Boracay Side Trip

While in Boracay, you can actually make day trips to neighboring tourist destinations.

Cliff Diving at Ariel’s Point

This popular tourist destination in Buruanga, Aklan is hugged by emerald and turquoise water and swimming holes hemmed in by rock formations. It’s often crowded with tourists, mostly foreigners, who want to try cliff diving from its 5 different diving boards starting at 3 meters to 15 meters high. If you’re not into cliff diving, Ariel’s Point Day Tour Package includes: paddle boarding, snorkeling, kayaking along Buruanga coast, and sunbathing with a scenic view of the Sulu Sea. A day trip here already includes a buffet lunch (traditional dishes), merienda (afternoon snack), and unlimited drinks (beers, rum, soda, mixed drinks, and water). If you book Ariel’s Point Day Tour Package below, it already includes a boat transfer to and from Boracay. Pick up from Boracay is around 11:15 AM, and return to Boracay is around 5:00 PM, so you have the whole day to spend at Ariel’s Point. You can book at least a day in advance through the link below to secure a slot since this is a popular destination.

ARIEL’S POINT DAY TOUR: RESERVE HERE

Carabao island.

If there’s one day trip from Boracay that I would recommend, it’s Carabao Island. I’ve spent a few days in this tiny quiet island, far from the trappings of commercialization, and I loved it. But if you don’t have much time to spend, you can book a day tour to Carabao Island.

CARABAO ISLAND DAY TOUR: BOOK HERE

And if you have the luxury of time after your Boracay trip, you can also visit other equally charming neighboring provinces.

Gigantes Island

If you still can’t get enough of the beach and islands, head to Gigantes Island, a group of islands off the coast of Carles in Northern Iloilo. Gigantes Island is speckled with islands and islets covered by dramatic rock formations, rough-hewn coves, and emerald lagoons. When it comes to beaches, you simply can’t talk about paradise without mentioning the Philippines.

Made up of over 7,641 islands with seemingly endless shorelines, the Philippines truly is a beach lover’s dream.

From the famous white-sand beauty of Boracay to the hidden coves and bays waiting to be discovered, the country has some of the most stunning beaches not just in Southeast Asia, but all over the world!!

In this post, I’ll be sharing my personal list of 15 must-visit beaches that should not be missed when you travel to the Philippines.

These beaches have stood out to me as some of the best for clear waters, soft powdery sand, lush backdrops, and overall natural beauty and vibrancy.

Let’s get right to it and I’ll tell you why each of these spots is a true tropical paradise found.

Lambug Beach in Badian, Cebu, is a secret beach spot perfect for anyone who loves the ocean but doesn’t want crowds. It’s tucked away in a small Barangay Lambug area, close to the Cebu International Golf and Resort.

This beach is all about stunning white sand and clear blue water. What’s great about Lambug Beach is that big resorts haven’t taken over, so it still has that chill, local vibe. Like cottages, you can find cozy places on the beach.

It’s also the place to be if you’re into exciting activities like canyoneering. Plus, you can rent tents, hang out all day at the beach, snorkel, or just relax and watch one of the most amazing sunsets you’ll ever see. • Ma. Stella F. Arnaldo

THE Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the marketing arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT), has assured it continues to strongly promote Boracay Island in markets abroad.

In a Viber message to the BusinessMirror, TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles said, “At the TPB, Boracay remains one of our top priorities as it is still one of our most acclaimed award-winning destinations.”

She made this reassurance after Boracay stakeholders had complained of tepid foreign tourist arrivals compared to pre-pandemic years, due to the lack of promotions of the island, abroad.

Nograles theorized that since the TPB also promotes the country’s “hidden gems” along with Boracay, inbound tourist arrivals have been spread out. “But rest assured, we will make sure to give equal opportunities to all our destinations—and actually we are looking into Boracay as another strong MICE [Meetings Incentives Conventions Exhibitions] destination and have been promoting this in our MICE shows abroad. As matter of fact, Boracay was promoted during our MICE roadshow in South Korea last October, and we have received promising feedback so far,” she said.

This May, TPB is hosting Connections Luxury in Boracay, which will bring together senior luxury decision-makers from around the globe with representatives of luxury properties in the Philippines in a B2B event, she added.

Chaos in the jetty port

In the first quarter of the year, foreign tourists accounted for some 27 percent of total arrivals on the island, versus 60 percent in the same period in 2019. Domestic travelers were also more than double the arrivals in the first quarter of 2019, reaching 386,868 in January to March. (See, “Locals push Q1 arrivals on Boracay to 538,603,” in the BusinessMirror, April 10, 2024.)

Private tour operators believe, however, there is no one to blame except the island’s stakeholders themselves.

Jose C. Clemente III, president of Rajah Tours Philippines, said the numerous fees imposed on tourists by Boracay, “is probably one of the biggest factors why tourists, and even the travel trade [buyers], now prefer other destinations. Aside from too many fees, more significantly, there is the hassle of passing through the small and chaotic jetty port in Caticlan.”

He acknowledged “a decrease in inquiries for Boracay from our clients and has shifted to other places such as Bohol and Palawan. Boracay has to reset if it wants to regain its place as the most sought-after destinations in the country.”

Speaking on background, a destination management company (DMC) executive separately said, it didn’t matter whether Boracay was promoted abroad or not. “At the end of the day, and from our point of view as DMCs, we support destinations that are easy to work with, where we get value, logistically convenient, and all of that. Whether it’s promoted by DOT or not, we really don’t care. We have the ability to steer clients where we want, with or without [government] promotions.”

Varying rates

The tourism executive noted this was the case with Bohol, “because we’re pushing it. Siargao is generating interest, but I don’t really see DOT dropping a massive promotions budget for it.”

The executive blamed Boracay resort owners themselves for the drop in their foreign arrivals. “They favored the China market, so the other markets got turned off. We’re also disappointed. They dropped their rates for Chinese tourists but for the Western markets, they charged very high rates for the very same rooms. Who wouldn’t get pissed?”

Regarding the breaching of the island’s carrying capacity last Holy Week, DOT Spokesperson Czarina Zara-Loyola said, the Secretaries of Tourism, Interior and the Local Government, and Environment were meeting in Palawan on Thursday. “We are hoping to discuss this first with them,” she said.

The topic, she added, was already discussed in the Secretaries’ “first meeting,” but she failed to say when that meeting was held or explain what points about it were raised exactly.

Loyola, however, had no comment on the claim of Boracay stakeholders that the DOT was not promoting the island.

From Bangkok in Thailand, to Bali in Indonesia, to Boracay in the Philippines on a single visa? Unified ASEAN visa similar to Schengen in the works

‘One Destination Visa’ for the ASEAN, unified travel document akin to Schengen pushed

Cruise ships Philippines

Manila: A single-visa for the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), similar to Schengen?

It's the most ambitious project yet for the region, home to 670 million people. It’s much talked about, yet achieved not much headway, so far.

This may change soon.

The ASEAN Unified Visa Scheme is a bold idea. Though not new, the joint-visa programme akin to the Schengen visa model (which covers 29 countries in Europe), is the ultimate goal of the Asian neighbours.

Here’s the lowdown on the unified ASEAN, Schengen-type visa proposal:

What is the name of the visa scheme?

Various names have been proposed at different times:

  • “One Destination” ASEAN Visa
  • Unified ASEAN Tourist Visa
  • ASEAN Single Visa Scheme
  • Common ASEAN Visa
  • Video: UAE President arrives in Riyadh, leading delegation to GCC-ASEAN Summit
  • Australia’s ASEAN outreach is a strategic shift

What’s the big idea behind it?

The aim is to bolster the bloc’s travel trade – by attracting more long-haul and high-spending travellers to the region. What’s unclear, given the years the idea has been discussed, is how the states would like to get there.

ASEAN

The ultimate goal: facilitate the movement of non-ASEAN nationals across the region, turning the wide and diverse area into a premier tourist spot. The concept has been under consideration for sometime, deliberated upon at summits and various ministerial meetings.

When did the idea start?

The idea has been on for decades. It gained momentum during the 2016 ASEAN Tourism Forum in the Philippines, where ASEAN member-states officially launched the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP) 2016-2025.

What’s changed since then?

Recently, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin reignited the initiative. The Thai leader’s proposal has garnered broad regional support.

The region's tourism sector has welcomed the proposal. If approved by member-economies, it would create a seamless Schengen-like mobility experience.

Which ASEAN members will be covered initially?

Under the current proposal, it would initially cover the six geographically contiguous mainland Asian countries: Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam (CLMMTV).

Last year, these six countries collectively welcomed 70 million tourists, with Thailand and Malaysia leading, generating approximately $48 billion in tourism dollars.

012588-01-02

Thailand's tourism industry plays a crucial role, employing 20 per cent of its workforce and contributing 12 per cent to its $500 billion economy. With aspirations to welcome 80 million tourists by 2027, Thailand has streamlined entry for visitors from diverse nations and diversified its tourism offerings with events.

While it won’t directly rival Europe’s Schengen visa, the ASEAN visa could create the world’s second-biggest area of free movement, and represent one of the most culturally diverse regions on the planet.

ASEAN members

Which ASEAN countries are not included in the proposed joint visa programme?

As it stands, the proposal does not include other non-mainland member economies:

  • The Philippines,
  • Look: Fair winds boost cruise tourism in the Philippines
  • Soon, you could travel from Kerala to Dubai on a cruise ship

How likely is a “unified” ASEAN visa to happen?

It remains under discussion with no set timelines. So it probably won't happen tomorrow. One major challenge: harmonising different immigration apparatuses, and databases. This is the biggest hurdle so far.

Here's why: unlike business or tax regime harmonisation, for example, harmonising immigration policies would be virtually impossible — without creating something akin to the European Union (EU), where countries are almost like one country in all but name. It’s currently hard to imagine how ASEAN could get to that point.

Grand palace and Wat phra keaw at sunset bangkok, Thailand

There are other challenges – such as coordinating approvals and establishing standard tourist criteria among participating nations.

Additionally, unlike continental Europe, the fragmented nature of ASEAN and its immigration database pose further hurdles.

Moreover, factors hindering the scheme's realisation include security concerns, internal sharing mechanisms, border control support, visa issuance synchronisation, human resource development, and infrastructure upgrades.

indonesia-1578647_1920

The success of the ASEAN joint-visa programme depends on how fast the states overcome bureaucratic hurdles and garner sufficient support from all participating nations.

Why should the Philippines sign up to the Unified ASEAN Visa scheme?

For one, the Philippines is a prime mover of this drive and is a founding member of the group. More broadly, it will strengthen institutional cooperation within the region. Windfall tourism from neighbouring countries would give other members net benefits.

ASEAN Map Logo

The scheme also promises to enhance ASEAN security governance by fostering closer inter-agency and regional cooperation, thereby improving border management capabilities, fostering greater ASEAN security governance.

And despite the challenges, the Philippines’s Bureau of Immigration (BI), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and embassy officials anticipate the scheme’s overall benefits for the Philippines and the ASEAN region, according to a 2018 study.

The full-member economies of APEC include Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, mainland China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Why is a ‘scaled-down’ unified ASEAN visa more possible?

A scaled-down “unified ASEAN tourist visa” scenario involving initially the mainland Asian countries – say, for a limited period of 90 days – is more likely to be adopted, observed Ben Hart, Managing Director of Integrity Legal based in Bangkok.

This is because of the initiatives already in place. All member economies are pushing tourism Thailand has been pursuing various tourism drives, including reciprocal visa waiver deals and temporary visa waivers for travellers from key markets such as China and India.

Moreover ,Thailand has set lofty goals for itself – to elevate its status as a tourism hotspot as well as an aviation and logistics hub.

As a group, the 63-year-old ASEAN group aims to move forward with multiple areas of economic cooperation, technical and human resources, among others.

Still, the task is not easy given the challenges of having different foreign policies and disparate rules.

What happens next?

If countries in the region do embark on a common visa, it will mark heightened institutional collaborations within the region, help build greater integration towards a common ecosystem for their citizens and the wider world.

By allowing tourists to travel to any country in the region on one travel document, it will likely add more economic value and spur tourism.

Though it may not come very soon, ultimately, we may see a sort of pan-ASEAN visa coming to fruition at some point in the future.

Philippines vies for 7 awards at 2024 World Travel Awards

By John Patrick Magno Ranara Published Apr 10, 2024 11:39 am

The Philippines has once again been nominated at the prestigious 2024 World Travel Awards (WTA).

This time, the country is vying for a total of seven awards, with the major ones being Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, and Asia’s Leading Island Destination.

Several local spots were also selected by the awarding body, namely, Intramuros as Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction, Boracay as Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, and Cebu as Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism (DOT) was nominated again as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board.

In a statement to the media, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said that the nominations "underscore the dedicated efforts of the Department of Tourism since the inception of the Marcos administration."

She went on to express her gratitude to WTA for providing "a platform to continuously showcase our diverse tourism offerings not only within Asia but on the global stage," as well as to tourism stakeholders who continue to protect and conserve the Philippines' beautiful travel destinations.

Frasco added that winning these accolades would not only add prestige to the country but will also " translate into livelihood opportunities for millions of Filipinos whose well-being depends on tourism."

"We aim to maintain and surpass the strides we've made since taking office, ensuring sustained growth in the country's tourism sector," she highlighted.

According to Frasco, 2023 was a banner year for the Philippines because of how it emerged victorious in several tourism categories at WTA. The country was previously recognized as the World’s Leading Dive Destination for the fifth consecutive year while Manila was named the top city destination in the world.

Apart from these, the Philippines also earned Asia’s Best Cruise Destination from WTA and the Destination of the Year honor from online travel platform TripZilla.

You can vote for the Philippines at this year's WTA through their website . You must first register an account to be able to cast your vote, but keep in mind that you can only do so until July 28.

5. Eat and Shop at D'Mall

If retail therapy is more to your speed after hours of frolicking around the island, then make a beeline for D' mall. D'Mall is Boracay's open-air mall located in Station 2 between White Beach and Boracay Main Road.

It has everything from food stalls to various souvenir shops and ATMs. It's an all-in-one place, making sure that whatever it is you're looking for, you'll find it here!

D'Mall is very laid-back compared to other significant establishments on the island. It's divided into three areas: Main Street, Local Market, and Beach Area. Main Street is where most ATMs and money changers are located.

Snack shops, pharmacies, and convenience stores are also within this area. Meanwhile, the Local Market area is where you can see small stalls selling fruits, vegetables, and other local delicacies. A local supermarket and some ATMs are also within this area.

Lastly, the Beach Area is where most diving and swimming shops are. You can also find money changers and restaurants within the city. It's also one of the main pick-up points for most trips and activities in Boracay.

Don't forget to drop by at D'Mall if you have free time! You'll enjoy the range of shops and restaurants in the area with your friends and family.

High-altitude activities in Boracay

If you want to discover Boracay by getting a panoramic view of the island, you have to try some of these highly recommended high-altitude activities that are done at White Beach and Bulabog Beach!

These activities are safe but are weather-dependent. No need to worry as you'll be given the safety rules and regulations before partaking in these exciting activities:

Boracay windsurfing is a high-altitude activity that combines sailing and surfing. It allows you to ride the waves on a surfboard with a sail attached. The wind becomes the instrument for the surfboard to propel forward.

Whether you're a beginner or an advanced windsurfer, you'll enjoy this one-of-a-kind activity in Boracay. You may opt to take lessons from instructors if you want to treat windsurfing as a sport.

As the name implies, kiteboarding is done by riding a surfboard that is attached to a kite. It's the perfect activity for any adrenaline chaser! Be forewarned though, that this isn't for the faint of heart; it entails a certain level of skill (and courage!). But don't worry! You can book a Boracay kiteboarding lesson from several kiteboarding schools in Boracay.

They will not only provide you with guidance and instruction but also with the gear and equipment you'll need. Once you get the hang of it, you'll find yourself addicted to this exhilarating sport.

Boracay travelers seeing birds-eye view of Boracay

Not only is it a great way to enjoy the wind and sea, but it will also give you a spectacular birds-eye view of Boracay. You might even get dipped into the water while the speedboat pulls the parasail through the wind!

One of the highly recommended activities in Boracay is to go underwater and see its colorful marine life.

Boracay Helmet Diving Aquanut Activity with Underwater Photos & Videos

One of the great things about freediving is you don't need any breathing apparatus when diving underwater. You need to figure out your breathing pattern and pulse so you'd know how deep you can descend from the surface. You have to listen carefully to the instructions of the guide to ensure a safe and exciting freediving activity.

This activity requires training as you need to learn how to breathe correctly below the surface of the water. In Boracay, there are a lot of scuba diving lessons you can take, ranging from Discover Scuba Diving lesson to PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. You can bring your scuba diving gear or rent one near the diving site.

Sunset at Diniwid beach

Aside from its beautiful beachfront, the villas nestled atop the seaside cliffs add to the appeal of Diniwid Beach. They bring to mind a similar view of Portofino, Italy. It's also an excellent spot for picnics.

Located north of White Beach, you can get there from Station 1 by following a small concrete walkway below a cliff that divides the two beaches. If you're bringing luggage with you, you'll be better off getting on a tricycle. You may also walk to Diniwid Beach from D'Mall, but it will take you around 20 to 30 minutes.

It'll be worth it, though, once you arrive at the beach for its picturesque views. It's a great spot to watch the sunset as it's away from the crowds and the businesses of famous White Beach.

You can walk along the shoreline, swim in its clear waters, or take a photo with the sunset as your backdrop. Most people check in at the beach resorts located here to enjoy beachfront access to Diniwid Beach and get the privacy that comes with it.

10. Go Cliff-Diving at Ariel's Point

Man cliff-diving at Ariel's point

A trip to Boracay would not be complete without cliff jumping at Ariel's Point. It's 35 to 45 minutes away from the island and is reachable by an outrigger boat. Cliff diving is a popular water sport, and you can do it at Ariel's Point. This tourist destination boasts five different cliff diving jump-off platforms with varying heights.

The highest platform is 13 to 15 meters above the water, while the lower platforms are 7 meters, 6 meters, 5 meters, and 3 meters high. If you can't handle the higher platforms, you can pick the lower ones and still experience the thrill of cliff-diving. There's no excuse to let the opportunity pass by as there are lifeguards within the area ready to assist you.

You can also go swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkeling at Ariel's Point. You'll be able to see the teeming marine life underwater, such as porcupine clownfish, pufferfish, and beautiful corals.

These day trip packages are available seven days a week, granted that the weather is favorable and can accommodate everyone interested in visiting.

As with many beaches in Boracay, Ilig-Iligan has beautiful white sand and crystal clear waters. What sets Ilig-Iligan apart is the tranquil beachfront and the scenic limestone islets a few meters from the shore.

Ilig-iligan beach in Boracay

Before you go there, be sure to pack a bag of your essentials to make your visit more comfortable. If you get hungry, there are a few restaurants within the vicinity offering local foods. Of course, you can bring food with you as well! Have a quiet picnic while lounging around within the calm and serene area of Ilig-Iligan beach.

This beach is on the Northeast coast of Boracay. To reach this isolated patch of paradise, you can join an island-hopping tour, or hop on a tricycle from White Beach. Make sure to haggle, as tricycle or motorcycle drivers tend to overcharge.

You can also walk to Ilig-Iligan Beach if you're coming from Puka Beach. You can take a walk via Boracay Beach Road for 15 to 20 minutes. It'll be worth it, though, once you reach this idyllic destination.

Mount Luho viewpoint

To go here, you can join a Boracay Island sightseeing trip or ride tricycles that you can charter to get you to the peak. The trail going upwards might be challenging for non-trekkers, but the stairs are made with concrete, making it a bit easier.

There are three view decks in Mount Luho. The one with the bamboo and wooden bridge viewpoint is called Stoy Mount Luho Viewpoint. Another one is the most crowded of them all, Mount Luho View Deck.

The third one accommodates cable car and zipline rides for its visitors. It's called Happy Planet and is accessible from another mountain as well.

If you plan to go to the crowded Mount Luho View Deck, it has three levels. The first level has a heart-shaped diorama facing Boracay Beach. The second level is a snack area and a minibar, where you can relax and unwind after your climb. The last one is the proper view deck, which gives you the chance to enjoy a 360-degree view of the island.

13. Snorkeling at Tambisaan Beach

Of all the beaches in Boracay, Tambisaan Beach has the most abundant marine life near the shore. You only have to walk one-third along the beach and swim about 25 meters into the bay to witness its magnificence. Make sure to pack your snorkeling gear, such as your fins and goggles.

You don't want to miss the underwater spectacle that awaits you at Tambisaan Beach. You'll be able to see different kinds of marine life, such as pelican eel, spotted handfish, and frogfish. You'll also be able to see different types of coral, such as black coral, staghorn coral, sea pen, and antipathies.

Tambisaan Beach is located west of Station 3. You can take a 10-minute tricycle ride to this snorkeling hotspot. Once you're there, take your sweet time marveling at the coral reefs and vibrant marine life. Take note that it might get busy, especially during peak hours, as it is an alternative port to Cagban Beach.

  • Check out this Erus Suites Hotel Boracay travel package

You may also opt to join a trip that includes Tambisaan Beach on its itinerary. Take photos, swim, lounge in the sand, and have fun by snorkeling!

Balinghai Beach is an elusive beauty; during high tide, it becomes entirely submerged. On low tide, this small private beach is the perfect romantic hideaway. This beach is secluded from the hustle and bustle of Boracay. You can tuck in a cove below limestone cliffs; the beach has cottages built into the surrounding rock formations and plants.

Owned by Balinghai Resort, you can access the beach by paying their entrance fee. The entrance fee is consumable at their restaurant. Take advantage of this by having an intimate dining experience by the beach!

Balinghai Beach is a 15- to 20-minute tricycle ride from White Beach. You can also rent a small outrigger boat there to take you to Balinghai. Once you arrive, pay the entrance fee to experience everything this beach resort offers.

Aside from the stunning, picturesque view of the island, you can enjoy other facilities they have, such as a coffee shop and restaurant. Their cottages are made with unique rock formations, and they offer spa treatments for a more relaxing time on the island.

Enjoy watching the sunset in this hidden gem. If you want, you can also opt to stay the night, but make sure you plan your trip here well and in proper weather conditions.

If you want a local's perspective of Boracay, check out these off-the-beaten-path beaches on the island. Dip your feet into its splendid white sands and swim in the blue-green waters of Manoc-Manoc Beach and Cagban Beach for a quiet and relaxing time.

These two public beaches are less crowded and offer breathtaking panoramic views of the sunset and nearby mountain ranges of Aklan. Make sure to visit them when you have time to spare!

Manoc-Manoc Beach is the supply-boat station. While the area can be busy with workers bringing supplies to shore, Manoc-Manoc Beach has a quaint atmosphere.

Often overlooked by travelers, Manoc-Manoc is the locals' playground. Thus it's an ideal place to experience and immerse in the local island life. You can enjoy various high-altitude activities here, such as kiteboarding and windsurfing.

Cagban Beach is the main port of Boracay. It's the first beach you'll see when you arrive on the island. It's not a popular swimming destination due to the influx of docking boats.

However, if you take a moment to scour the area, you'll be surprised to find private spots perfect for beach bathing. It offers excellent views of the nearby Crystal Cove Island and Panay Island.

Punta Bunga Beach and Banyugan Beach top the lists of ultra-exclusive beaches in Boracay. As such, there are fewer travelers here, and the vibe is more upscale and tranquil.

The good thing about these two exclusive beaches is you can pay the entrance fee instead of checking in at the associated hotels within the area. There are also local snack shops and restaurants near the two beaches, providing comfort to big groups wanting to eat their lunch or dinner in the area.

Both beaches can be found right beside each other on the northeast side of Boracay. Banyugan Beach is beautifully situated between two large rock formations. Both beaches share the signature fine Boracay sand and turquoise waters, but Punta Bunga Beach is considerably bigger than Banyugan.

The turquoise waters and sandy, white sands are perfect for a chill day at the beach. What’s more, it doesn’t get crowded compared to other mainstream beaches on the island.

Punta Bunga Beach is accessible via the Shangri-La Boracay Resort and Spa , Mövenpick Resort, and Ecovillage resorts. Banyugan Beach, on the other hand, is only available via Shangri-la. You can also reach both beaches via island hopping. Whether you walk in or join an island hopping tour, you'll have to shell out for the entrance fee.

If shooting is up to your alley, then you should check out Boracay's indoor shooting ranges! If you've never held a gun in your life, fret not, as these shooting ranges have well-trained range officers that will walk you through the basics of shooting and demonstrate the proper ways to use a handgun. It's surprisingly enjoyable.

The first option offers the usage of an M16 with ten bullets. The second option provides the use of a 9mm Sig Sauer or 9mm Beretta with ten bullets. The third option is to use Uzkon with five bullets or Uzi with 15 bullets.

The last option offers the choice to use a 22 Revolver with 16 bullets, Ak 22 with ten bullets, or a Rifle-Caliber 22 with ten bullets and Free 22 Walther with five bullets. All packages also include a target board and the range fee.

Upon choosing a package that best fits you, you will be given a short introduction on how to hold and accurately aim a gun by one of the professional shooters.

Afterward, the safety gear will be distributed, as well as the gun that you will be using. You may aim and shoot the target boards, or you may ask for professional assistance should you feel uncomfortable aiming and pulling on your own.

19. Ride a Boracay Helicopter

A Boracay helicopter ride experience lets you see a different face of Boracay, one that can be viewed only from above.

Fly high above Boracay when you try this fun activity! You can take this ride for 10 to 30 minutes. It's a different kind of thrill compared to other high-altitude activities on the island. You'll be able to witness the island's majestic aerial views thousands of feet away!

The usual helicopter tour is like this: you'll be brought to the helipad area, where you'll meet your guide. You'll be given plenty of time to absorb the rules and regulations of the activity, as well as get oriented on the process of the helicopter ride.

You'll be able to see an aerial view of the island's famous beaches, such as Diniwid Beach, Puka Beach, White Beach, Tambisaan Beach, and Bulabog Beach, from your window seat.

You'll also be able to see nearby islands such as Magic Island, Crystal Cove Island, Crocodile Island, and Carabao Island. This exhilarating activity is a welcome deviation from the usual water activities in Boracay.
