Angkow Wat temple at sunset in the middle of the jungle, Cambodia

Travelling in Cambodia is the ultimate South East Asian experience.

Beneath the Cardamom Mountains or on the banks of the Mekong, Khmer village life goes on pretty much as it always has (give or take the odd iPhone). And when you’re watching the sunrise over Angkor Wat or the ruins of Tha Promh, the modern world feels a long way off. While progress was dampened for years by a tragic history, Cambodia is now a country on the move. With riverside boulevards and art galleries popping up in Phnom Penh, and Siem Riep's growing reputation for hip cafes and top-notch dining , Cambodia tours aren’t just about the temple-gazing (although we have to admit, the gazing is pretty darn good!).

Culture and customs

The Khmer culture has lasted for centuries, and is based on tradition, honouring ancestors, respecting elders and living a life of honesty, humility and kindness. This is probably why Cambodians are known for being some of the warmest, most hospitable and humble people in the world.

As with other neighbouring nations like Thailand, the concept of “saving face” is important. Displaying control and keeping a peaceful nature in public is paramount, as is not losing your temper or ridiculing others.

Most Khmer people are Buddhist. Monks are highly regarded and respected in society, and religious festivals and ceremonies are important parts of daily life. When visiting Cambodia, expect to see orange-robed monks and many displays of faith - from people visiting large, elaborate temples to them praying over small, humble shrines.

Despite the infiltration of modern ideas and concepts, Khmer customs and traditions are kept alive with traditional dance, art, festivals and costume enduring alongside modern pop music and dance.

Eating and drinking

Like most other Asian countries, rice, noodle soups and stir fries are common in Cambodia. Drawing on Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese cuisines, Cambodian food is strong in flavour but usually not as spicy as food from neighbouring countries.

Foods to try in Cambodia

1. Fish amok

Fish amok is fish that’s been baked in creamy coconut, ginger, lemongrass and turmeric curry sauce and wrapped in banana leaves. This silky national dish will melt in your mouth. You can also get amok with chicken, tofu or veggies.

2. Nom banh chok

A popular breakfast meal, nom banh chok is a rice noodle soup made with green fish gravy, beansprouts, banana flowers, cucumbers and lots of green veggies.

3. Lap Khmer

Not your typical cold salad, this Khmer specialty is made with lightly seared, thinly sliced marinated beef, dressed with lemongrass, shallots, garlic, fish sauce, herbs, greens and lots of red chillies.

4. Ongkrong saek koo

One of the more palatable insect options you’ll find on a Cambodian menu, this dish is a stir fry of beef, basil, garlic, ginger, lemongrass and lots of ants, topped with chilli and served on a bed of rice.

5. Baguettes

A remnant of Cambodia’s French-colonial past, fresh, crunchy baguettes are sold from street stalls and at markets - and make a great, low-cost breakfast or snack.

6. Tropical fruit

Jackfruit, mangoes, bananas, pineapple, dragon fruit and watermelon are all plentiful in Cambodian. Get a street vendor to mix up a fresh juice or smoothie for a refreshing treat.

7. Iced coffee

Sweetened with condensed milk, the beloved iced coffee is the drink to try in Cambodia. If the caffeine gets too much, you can always switch to fresh coconuts to quench your thirst.

Geography and environment

Bordered by Vietnam , Thailand and Laos , much of Cambodia is covered by forested area, although sadly, this is rapidly changing due to the growth of agriculture, logging and deforestation. Home to the largest lake in South East Asia, Tonle Sap (Great Lake) connects to the Mekong River and swells to four times its normal size during the monsoon season.

Most of the country is low-lying, except for pockets of mountains. Large cities like Siem Reap and Phnom Penh are typically built-up, busy and filled with modern conveniences like nightclubs, bars, public transport and restaurants. Smaller towns and rural areas enjoy more peace and space, with low-density, simple housing and a reliance on agriculture for income.

History and government

Early history.

Evidence of early life in Cambodia dates back to 1500BC, and further evidence suggests that by the 1st Century, rice cultivation, fishing and animal husbandry were the basis of organised society in Cambodia. Various empires arose in the early stages of Cambodian history, with the Funan and Chenla Kingdoms reigning before the rise of the Khmer civilisation.

Regarded as one of the most powerful empires in the world, the Khmer Empire prospered from the 9th to the 13th centuries. This was a time of growth and expansion, and many of the artistic treasures and archaeological monuments that Cambodia is known for come from this era. The world-famous temples of Angkor were built during this period, and hold important clues to how life was lived back then. Temple inscriptions depicting daily life, religious ceremonies and military exploits give us important insights into this fascinating civilisation.

There are many theories that speculate on the decline of the Khmer Empire. It’s more than likely that a combination of factors including drought, the arrival of the Plague and the rise of neighbouring Thai superpower Ayutthaya resulted in the loss of momentum for a once-powerful empire. A period of decline followed, with the 15th to the 19th centuries marking a time when Cambodia had a lower profile in international affairs, until coming under French Colonial rule in 1863.

Recent history

The events that have shaped Cambodia’s recent history began with the Communist Party of Kampuchea overpowering the Khmer Republic after more than 100 days of fierce fighting. What followed was a radical change in society, with Pol Pot leading the country now known as Kampuchea. This brutal regime soon set about restructuring society and was responsible for committing awful atrocities against the civilian population. Religion and education were repressed, currency and banking were abolished and people were sent to work in the fields. Business people, educators, scholars and other high-ranking members of society were hunted down and murdered by the Khmer Rouge. It's estimated that hundreds of thousands of people (possibly millions) were murdered between 1975 and 1979. In addition to this, many more died of starvation and disease due to a lack of medical care and nourishment.

This nationalistic, murderous regime was finally overcome by the Vietnamese Army in 1979, signalling the beginning of the peace process and the establishment of the People’s Republic of Kampuchea. In 1993, millions of Cambodians voted to elect a new government, which then ratified a new constitution, and in 2004 a tribunal was established to serve justice to the people who committed atrocities during the Khmer Rouge era.

Today, Cambodia is rebuilding and moving on from its tragic past. Many NGOs have set up programs that empower and support Cambodians with education, health care, training and counselling. While wide-scale poverty and other social problems remain, Cambodia continues to gain strength from its burgeoning tourism industry, and has recently been successful in increasing access to education and health care as well as improving overall living standards.

Markets are plentiful in Cambodia - from the large markets like the Central and Russian Markets in Phnom Penh, to the smaller, local markets in regional areas. As with most markets in Asia , bargaining for a good price is commonplace. It's also a good idea to check with your local customs officials to ensure that you are able to bring certain items back into your home country. Australia and New Zealand generally have strict quarantine laws.

Local groups and NGOs have worked to provide training in textile production and help disadvantaged families earn an income. If you are looking to take home a piece of Cambodia, consider purchasing a traditional item from a social enterprise.

Festivals and events

Most of Cambodia’s festivals stem from Theravada Buddhist rituals. Though they are meant to be spiritual in nature, Cambodians always find a way to inject a lot of fun into them. Here are some of the most important festivals in Cambodia.

1. Water Festival

This three-day festival, which marks the end of the monsoon season and the start of harvest, is a national holiday. Cities across Cambodia flock to the water each November to celebrate, but the festivities in Phnom Penh are by far the biggest. Featuring colourful boat races, illuminated ornamental boats, fireworks, concerts, and plenty of food and drink.

2. Khmer New Year (Chaul Chnam Thmey)

An important celebration in the Khmer calendar, the Cambodian New Year sees three days of people taking part in rituals, playing traditional games, performing gestures of goodwill towards others and enjoying feasts. Most Cambodians return to their homes to spend time with their families during this time.

3. Pchum Ben (Ancestors Day)

“Ancestors’ Day” involves Cambodians visiting pagodas bearing food, flowers, rice and gifts, which are given to monks to offer to the afterlife. Cambodian beliefs are steeped in superstition. The reason for the offerings is not only to commemorate lost loved ones but so the dead do not return to haunt the living.

Cambodia is a relatively safe destination to visit, however, like other popular travel destinations, there are times when visitors should be more cautious. Petty crime and scams can occur in tourist hotspots and in some regional areas, there may be safety advisories to stick to marked paths.

There can also be severe weather in Cambodia, especially during the wet season (July to November).

Is Cambodia a safe destination for LGBTQIA+ travellers?

Everyone should feel comfortable when they travel with Intrepid and we know that many of our travellers are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. It’s important for our travellers to be aware of the local laws and customs in the destinations we visit, as some countries have laws that discriminate against LGBTQIA+ people. We recommend you visit  Equaldex  and/or ILGA before you choose your trip for up-to-date advice and information about LGBTQI+ related laws.

On the whole, Cambodia is a hassle-free destination for LGBTQIA+ travellers. The former King was a keen supporter of equal rights for same-sex partners, and as a result, most of the population is fairly accepting. Both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap have small gay scenes, though they are decidedly more low-key compared to some parts of Asia. Be aware that Cambodian people typically do not engage in public displays of affection, regardless of sexual orientation.

If you are travelling solo on an Intrepid group tour, you will share accommodation with a passenger of the same gender as per your passport information. If you don’t identify with the gender assigned on your passport, please let us know at time of booking and we’ll arrange the rooming configuration accordingly. A single supplement is available on some tours for travellers who do not wish to share a room.

Is Cambodia accessible for travellers with disabilities?

Intrepid is committed to making travel widely accessible , regardless of ability or disability. That’s why we do our best to help as many people see the world as possible, regardless of any physical or mental limitations they might have. We’re always happy to talk to travellers with disabilities and see if we can help guide them towards the most suitable itinerary for their needs and where possible, make reasonable adjustments to our itineraries.

Cambodia is not always an easy country to travel to for people with mobility or vision disabilities, due to uneven and often broken footpaths, bumpy and potholed roads, crowded public transport and steps galore at temples. In saying this, local people are extremely hospitable and are likely to help out any travellers in need. The country’s biggest drawcard, the temples of Angkor, has had some ramps added in recent years but the paths are generally uneven and stairs challenging even for travellers without disabilities. Siem Reap and Phnom Penh airports have had recent upgrades in terms of wheelchair ramps and some higher end hotels may have accessible rooms. Many guesthouses and hotels have ground floor rooms although may not have other accessible facilities. Taxi and remorks can be easily and affordably hired to get around for city tours.

What's the weather like in Cambodia?

Cambodia's temperatures stay pretty constant all year round with a distinct wet and dry season. The north generally experiences slightly colder winters (dry seasons) than the south. The dry season is the most popular season to travel by far, as showers usually only occur in the late afternoon and for a matter of minutes before passing over.

What to wear in Cambodia

Cambodia has two types of weather: hot, and hot and wet. Loose, breathable clothing will be appropriate year-round, and if you’re travelling from June through to the beginning of November, you’ll want to pack a raincoat.

What's the transport like in Cambodia?

Intrepid believes half the fun of experiencing a new country is getting there, and getting around once there!

Where possible, Intrepid uses local transport options and traditional modes of transport - which usually carry less of an environmental impact, support small local operators and are heaps more fun.

Depending on which trip you're on while in Cambodia, you may find yourself travelling by Cyclo.

Take the slow road and see Cambodia from the ground level while being pedalled through the streets by a friendly cyclo rider.

Remork, the Cambodian version of the tuk tuk, is a fun way to get around and perfect for short trips.

Get to know the countryside of Cambodia while riding a bicycle. Glide past fields of rice and wave hello to passing locals.

What's the accommodation like in Cambodia?

Travelling with Intrepid is a little bit different. We endeavour to provide travellers with an authentic experience to remember, so we try to keep accommodation as unique and traditional as possible.

When travelling with us in Cambodia you may find yourself staying in a Homestay.

Experience rural life while staying with a local family. Make new friends, eat traditional, home-cooked meals and explore the Cambodian countryside.

The Perfect Two Week Cambodia Itinerary

The perfect two week Cambodia itinerary, featuring Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, the Southern islands and Kep and Kampot.

Cambodia is an incredible country to explore, with beautiful beaches, fascinating cities, delicious food and friendly locals. We spent three weeks travelling the country, and have condensed our favourite bits into a two week Cambodia itinerary, with all the info you need to get around.

Getting Around Cambodia

You can fly between the main cities in Cambodia, however, we decided to take the slow route and travel around Cambodia by bus and train. We made this decision for a few reasons:

  • Firstly, because we wanted to see more of the country and passing through small towns, villages and farmland offers a great insight into daily life.
  • Secondly, it’s much, much cheaper. We weren’t worried about splashing a little cash, but taking the bus instead of a flight costs around a third of the price in general.

The downside, of course, is the time it takes. Most internal Cambodian flights take 1-2 hours, whereas the buses take 6 – 8 on most routes. But we were happy to take this time to relax, look out the window and enjoy the scenery.

Cambodian Buses

There are a number of bus companies operating within Cambodia and crossing the border to Vietnam. After a bit of research, we decided to book with Giant Ibis, based on the fact they are slightly fancier than some of the other carriers, and they have a good safety record. (There are lots of road traffic accidents in Cambodia). We took 5 buses with them during our trip and they were pretty good. Some buses had WIFI and in general, the driving wasn’t too terrifying. You can book Giant Ibis buses online via Baolau.

Taking the Train in Cambodia

There is only one train line in Cambodia, which runs between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. I would highly recommend travelling this route by train. It was the nicest journey we had in Cambodia. It’s slower than the bus but more enjoyable.

The trains have been refurbished, and have air conditioning, but the carriages are still the older style, which I loved. You pass through the suburbs of Phnom Penh when departing the central station, before moving into open fields and farmland. The train also stops in Takeo and Kampot, before reaching its final destination. You can book trains in advance through baolau .

Our 14 Day Cambodia Itinerary

As we were starting and ending our trip in Ho Chi Minh City, we decided to spend a few days here on either side, which I recommend if you are doing the same. From Ho Chi Minh City, we took the bus across the border to Phnom Penh. If you’re flying straight into Cambodia, it’s likely you will fly into Phnom Penh as it’s the capital city and the largest international airport.

Day 1 Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is a buzzing capital city with lots of good bars and restaurants, as well as some important historical sites. You will return to Phnom Penh later in your itinerary, so don’t worry about squeezing everything in on your first stay.

Top things to do in Phnom Penh include:

  • Tuol Sleng – the high school that became a prison and torture site during the rule of the Khmer Rouge.
  • Choeung Ek – One of the Khmer Rouge killing fields
  • Phnom Penh Markets – Purchase souvenirs, food and more at one of the many markets in Phnom Penh.
  • Cambodi a n Cooking Class – Learn how to cook Cambodian cuisine so you can recreate it at home.

Read our full guide to Phnom Penh.

Where to Stay in Phnom Penh

We stayed in three different hotels during our stay, at three different budget levels and all were great.

Budget – Mad Monkey Hostel Phnom Penh has air-conditioned rooms and an outdoor swimming pool. There are dorms and private rooms.

Mid-range – G Mekong is a lovely hotel with a great rooftop swimming pool and beautiful interior (I loved the showers here!).

Luxury – Raffles Hotel Le Royal is located in the centre of Phnom Penh with an excellent restaurant and bars.

cambodia trip from sydney

Find accommodation in Phnom Penh

From Phnom Penh, you have a couple of options, but the most common is to either head south to the coast or head west to Siem Reap. We went south first, taking the train from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville.

Days 2-5 Sihanoukville and the Islands

Sihanoukville is a busy town on the south coast and the gateway to Cambodia’s islands. I would personally skip Sihanoukville and head straight out to the islands when you arrive. We spent one night at Otres Beach, where I witnessed the best sunset of my entire life, before taking a boat to Koh Ta Kiev.

Sailing to the Cambodian islands

Where to Stay in Otres Beach

Budget – Oasis Boutique Hotel is a great option close to the beach, with double rooms from £8 / $11 USD per night.

Mid-range – Sok Sabay Hotel has a pool and restaurant with doubles from £25 / $35 USD per night.

Luxury – White Boutique Hotel  is located at the quiet end of the beach with a pool. Doubles from £51 / $71 USD per night.

Find accommodation in Otres Beach and Sihanoukville

Otres Beach with a rainbow sky while travelling in Cambodia

Koh Ta Kiev is an idyllic island, 10 kilometres off the coast of Sihanoukville. It’s not nearly as popular or busy as the islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem and it’s all the better for it.

There isn’t much on the island, just a few guesthouses, jungle and beautiful beaches. There’s no electricity, no WIFI and no shops or ATMs. So bring everything you will need with you (sun cream, bug spray, pain killers and cash).

Read about Sihanoukville and the Islands here.

A traditional boat at a beach on Koh Ta Kiev

Where to Stay on Koh Ta Kiev

We stayed at Kactus on the sunset side of the island, which has simple huts and treehouses, or you can even sleep in a hammock. The French owners make delicious meals each night for the guests and it felt like something out of the Beach movie.

Enrico standing in front of a bamboo hut at Koh Ta Kiev

You can easily spend weeks exploring the Cambodian islands and national parks, but in a two week Cambodian itinerary, a couple of days here is about right.

We boated back to the mainland and took a 2-hour bus ride from Sihanoukville to Kampot.

Days 6-7 Kampot

Kampot is a lovely little town situated on the Preaek Tuek Chhu River. We spent two nights here, but could easily have spent more. There are plenty of things to do in Kampot, it has great little coffee shops and restaurants and a bustling night market. Don’t leave without taking a tour of a pepper plantation, as Kampot Pepper is considered to be the best in the world.

Read about Kampot here.

Kampot - A must stop on a Cambodia Itinerary

Where to Stay in Kampot

One of the best things about Kampot is that lots of accommodation is located alongside the river.

Sabay Beach – With its own little beach on the river and surrounded by mango, durian and coconut trees, this is a really peaceful spot with a great little bar/restaurant.

Preaek Tuek Chhu River in Kampot in Cambodia

Find accommodation in Kampot

From Kampot, it’s 45 minutes on a bus to Kep. However, for a more scenic route, you can take the Crab Shuttle down the Preaek Tuek Chhu River and out into the Gulf of Thailand. I highly recommend this.

Kep is an old colonial seaside town, perfect for a lazy couple of beach days if you have time, but otherwise, a day here is enough to sample to famous Kep crab and have a dip in the sea.

Read about Kep here.

Where to Stay in Kep

If you’re going to splash out I highly recommend you do it here and stay at  Knai Bang Chatt , a stunning beachfront luxury retreat, with a beautiful infinity pool.

To return to Phnom Penh you can take the train from Kampot, or take the bus from Kep or Kampot. We opted for the bus, purely because the train wasn’t running on the day we were travelling (they don’t run every day). It took 2.5 hours from Kampot to Phnom Penh.

Days 9-10 Phnom Penh

Back in the capital city, we spent a couple of days exploring, before travelling to Siem Reap.

Read about Phnom Penh here.

Now it was time for a night bus! It was actually a pretty good experience. I slept most of the way and actually enjoyed the experience! Again we travelled with Giant Ibis and unless you’re tall you should find it comfortable (I’m 5.6 and Enrico is 5.11 and we were fine).

Days 11-14 Siem Reap

Siem Reap is a great little town and home to Cambodia’s main attraction: Angkor Wat. We allowed five days here to fully explore the temples and the beautiful scenery, but 3-4 is enough to see the highlights.

Top things to do in Siem Reap include:

  • Visit The Temples Of Angkor
  • Swim At Kulen Waterfalls
  • Go To The Landmine Museum
  • Go For A Beer On Pub Street
  • See The Cambodian Circus
  • Shop At The Markets

Read about Siem Reap here.

Where to Stay in Siem Reap

We stayed at two accommodations in Siem Reap, one budget and one mid-range. There are some incredible luxury hotels in Siem Reap if you have the budget.

Budget – Nikas House is a short walk from the centre with a great little pool.

Mid-range – Memoire Siem Reap has a large pool and very attentive staff.

Luxury – FCC Angkor by Avani is located in the centre of Siem Reap with an outdoor saltwater pool.

Super Luxury – Bensley Collection – Shinta Mani Siem Reap is a gorgeous 5 star resort, where each room has its own butler.

Cambodian Summer Rolls in Siem Reap

From Siem Reap, we considered heading to Battambang before returning to Phnom Penh but decided it would be too rushed. So took a bus back to the capital.

What to Eat in Cambodia

Cambodian cuisine has an interesting mix of influences including Chinese and French, it also shares many similarities with its Thai and Vietnamese neighbours.

Some must-try dishes during a Cambodian trip include:

Fish Amok – a curry made with coconut milk.

Kroeung – a type of Khmer curry paste made from lemongrass, turmeric root, garlic, shallots, galangal and fingerroot, or Chinese ginger. It’s often steamed in a folded banana leaf and accompanied with rice.

A selection of Cambodian dishes

Beef Lok Lak – A stir-fried beef dish, prepared with plenty of oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sometimes palm sugar. Usually served with rice and occasionally with an egg.

Beef Saraman Curry – (my fave!) A beef curry made with a mixture of spices including coriander and cardamom, coconut milk and peanuts. Yum! (If you go to Kampot I recommend the Saraman Curry at Rikitikitavi).

A dish of Saraman curry in Kampot

Kep Crab With Kampot Pepper   – The famous dish of Kep features the locally caught crab served with a green peppercorn sauce, created with pepper from Kampot’s impressive pepper plantations. A must try.

Kep crab cooked with Kampot pepper

Banana Flower Salad/Green Mango Salad – These two salads are light and refreshing and great for lunch, often served with chicken or fish. Both contain shallots, garlic and chilli.

Kuy Teav – A popular soup made with clear, light, pork broth, garlic, greens, scallions and noodles, eaten at all times of day. Usually served with pork but sometimes other meats.

Deep Fried Tarantulas, Crickets and Snakes – you’ll often find these at street vendors, although I have to admit I wasn’t brave enough to try them!

Cambodia Accommodation

Cambodian accommodation, in general, is great value. We stayed in some excellent guesthouses with air-con and hot water for less than £15 a night. If you want to go really cheap, there are beds in hostel dorms for less than £7 a night. And if you have some money to spend there are some fabulous hotels.

Getting to Cambodia

There aren’t any direct flights into Cambodia from the UK or Australia, so getting there involves a stopover. (Stopping in Doha with Qatar Airlines or Singapore with Singapore Airlines). We decided instead, to fly into Ho Chi Minh City in neighbouring Vietnam, and take a bus across the border. You can fly direct to Ho Chi Minh City from London or Sydney.

A monk sitting at Angkor Wat

We had an incredible two weeks in Cambodia, and I can happily say I haven’t outgrown backpacking just yet!

How long should I spend in Cambodia?

Two weeks is the perfect amount of time to travel in Cambodia. This way you can see the main cities and sights, as well as enjoy the beaches in the south.

What can I do in one week in Cambodia?

Visit Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and the famous temples of Angkor Wat as well as one of the beach towns or islands.

What is the best month to visit Cambodia?

Cambodia is warm throughout the year, but the best time to visit is between November and May when the rainfall is the lowest.

Hi. I am so happy I found this website. Thanks for all the great info. I will be travelling to Cambodia for fun and volunteering in Feb-Mar, 2024. My main concern is animal/insect/jellyfish dangers. Did you have any encounters with dangerous creatures, including stray dogs? Thanks.

Have a great trip! We didn’t have any encounters during our trip. Perhaps take some reef shoes and insect repellent and ask advice from the locals. We didn’t see many stray dogs but I’m sure it depends on where you stay and are volunteering. Always worth making sure you travel vaccines are up to date too! Hope it goes well.

I am planning a tour from uk to Vietnam South Ho Chi Minh to North Hanoi . But like to visit Phnon Penh Cambodia for 2 days . Which one better land at Ho Chi Minh, Go to Phnon Penh and back to Vietanm Or Land at Phnon Penh which is long distance and come to Vietnam ?

I think it depends on how much time you have and how you plan to travel. If there are direct flights to Ho Chi Minh perhaps its better to fly there and then take a local flight to Phnom Penh? Hope you have a great time!

Learn about its turbulent history that is outshone by the wonderful warmth of the people and the incredible attractions that the country has to offer.

Phnom Penh

As part of French Indochina Phnom Penh was the ‘Pearl of Asia’; today it is simply the heart of Cambodia, a role that suits it perfectly. It is a city that effortlessly combines a quaint past with a future-conquering mentality, the shimmering pinnacles of its temples and palaces now sharing the skyline with modern buildings.

Angkor Wat

The Temples of Angkor are the jewel in Cambodia's crown, the incredible, jungle-enveloped relics of the once-great Khmer Empire. A symbol of Cambodia, the beauty of the temples is simply breathtaking from a distance, yet it is up close where you can appreciate the unique and intricate details that make Angkor Wat one of the world’s greatest structures.

Awesome as always. I wish though the cabin for premium was upgraded.... Same old sane old :(

I requested an aisle seat and got a middle seat The flight gate was changed and the flight was delayed

In general good, but the machine seems to be long in operation and some functions were restricted as e. g. Adjusting of seats.

Cabin Crew always friendly and helpful. Seating cramped - foul smelling from toilets, high risk of disease. Guard personal property such as expensive sunglasses Coffee always awful and cold Meal trays toddler sized Not worth the extra cost to fly SQ - use a budget airline, same if not better experience

Wonderful service, planes and interior in great condition, very pleasant experience

Every thing was fine. Some ild classical Hindi movies should be add

The premium economy seats were not that great. It could have been more premium than economy seats.

Transfer within the same terminal and lots of facilities at the airport.

I did not like anything. Flight experience was bad overall.

Due to the delay of my first flight, my connecting flight with JetBlue was canceled by Singapore Airlines, but the JetBlue crew was very accommodating and rebooked a seat for me. The crew was very nice and had good attitude.

Flight delay was informed at the last minute. Food quality is not up to Qantas standard I was unable to book an online boarding pass on any of my 6 flights.

Following a marathon flight riddled by delays and changes from Santiago, Chile, my flight to Melbourne from Sydney was on schedule but I was transferred to the next flight. The reason by ticketing and the floor manager was I missed the entry to flight by one minute! That's right, the emphasised that if I was 1 minute earlier I would be on the flight. I asked what was the point them emphasising 1minute overdue and how that helped me or the situation. They didn't care at all. Replying that if it was one minute earlier they would've done something and smirking delivering the information. Australian's do call Australia home, Qantas calls Australian's suckers.

Rescheduled after ticket purchased and issued, not 2 or 3 times and not a fourth but by 5 times, by Qantas, that's right, 5 changes! Forcing an overnight stay in Chile and need for visa. Qantas can no longer provide basic services as a national or international service provider. Professionalism is extinct and the provider needs to be mentored and educated in perfecting who to operate as an airline. Qantas is the spirit of Australian dissatisfaction.

Amazing! Was put on the earlier flight and I requested for an aisle seat and was given it. Thanks Qantas!

The staff we fantastic and seemed to work very well with each other

Business lounge in Melbourne mediocre. Look at Emirates or Qatar, Qantas! Great friendly crew. Food was good but Emirates is a level above. Business seat good. But can’t compare to Qatar. Main reason for booking Qantas is loyalty and terrific connection via Perth to LHR.

It's only a short trip from Sydney to Melbourne, which i have done many times. The trip met my expectations

The crew were amazing - A great job. They made me feel special and valued.

I really appreciated the fact that when I checked my bags at the Quantas counter after arriving from an international flight an hour early, the agent noticed I had a very long layover. He then found an earlier flight that allowed me to get to Cairns several hours earlier than I planned. That was amazing because I had already traveled over 20 hours and wasn’t looking forward to such a long layover. It allowed me to see my daughter and grandchildren much earlier (it had been two years since I visited last).

Qantas cancelled my flight for no good reason and rebooked me into a middle seat.

chaos boarding. Crew in business class seemed short staffed and lacking in attention to details initially, but did improve during flight.

The cabin was quite noisy as there were lots of children travelling for the school holidays. Found the selection of movies limited.

Delayed, not enough information. Had to ask for refreshments, crew could have been more proactive

The best so far coz this time it was all male steward on the economy cluster. They were polite, efficient & genuinely courteous. They do not judge you when you ask for more food & peanuts.

My first course flight (Aor-Kul) was cancelled in the morning, and they asked me to board the night flight hence I need to transit overnight for the 2nd flight (Kul-Myy) that supposed to be on the same day. The overnight stay was not provided, (I'm traveling with my spouse, a daughter (5 y.o.) and an infant (2 months old). Hence I booked Sama Sama Hotel at my own expense (fortunately using my enrich miles points). Other than this issue, all services is good.

Orange juice change to mineral water . Should keep the orange juice.

Entertainment system was too old, crew were unorganised during boarding

No recognition for one World Emerald member. Business class seat has flat bed

No recognition for one World Emerald member. I got row 1 in business class and it was pathetic. No leg space, cramped space, less recline

Legs space in the business class cabin is too small and pillow is dirty!

Very good crew, very efficient. Unfortunately not all items listed in duty free catalog were available.

Many changes need to be addressed from airport check in to flight departure. If they observe other major airlines, then they can expect what Sri Lankan airlines need to update their procedures.

Very professional and well managed. On time, great staff and comfortable.

Smooth takeoff and landing. Best service experience in all our travels over the years. Caring and attentive crew. Loved our flight to and fro.

not looking like a national flag carrier.. both the ground team and flight team are far from being kind and helpful. Not sure what's wrong.

Kayak company fake total I m not travel my payment reverse plzzz my credit card

I m not good serves poor serves I m m fake company kayak ok plzz my help my ticket cancel my tripe ok

Terrible experience. Unexpected wait due to staff delay was not taken proper care. Food inflight could be better where as flight attendees on flight hospitality was 100%

Aircraft used fir this route was pretty old. Seats 💺 were hard & difficult to reclaim although it was flat bed

Because of the bubble agreement b/w India and Srilanka, I was not allowed to board the flight to Columbo. My experience about airport representatives was good. They were through in their job and saved my family from getting stuck in Columbo (as I would not be able to fly to Doha because of bubble agreement). So by their prompt attention, such a catastrophe was avoided. For this reason, even without flying with them, I would rate them 7/10.

It would have been perfect if there was onboard entertainment.

Food was unfit even for prisoners. larger front seats are terribly uncomfortable, which is ironic. Thorough need to upgrade aircraft on such a long route.

Interment is zero tv wasn’t work phone charger plug doesn’t work moves doesn’t work

Food could be better they need a better caterer in DC flight from India always has better food

Very very impressed with the proactive care and alertness with which ABHISHEK Chowdhary took care of us. Quietl, dignified , very alert, and meticulous. Very impressed. Also with SUNiL Kumar who was there for us in a very helpful way. SHERLY ALEX On Flight 119, BOM TO JFK CUSTOMER ON SEAT 21C, 21ST March 2024

Old fittings. Went business class. Staff not very considerate regards comfort.

Old aircraft, crew were so so. Meals were mediocre. Flight to delhi was delayed. Lounge needs update and was mediocre too.

The food on board the flight was atrocious - tasteless, spicy as hell, and simply a hodge podge of nonsensical items of poor quality.

The food was abysmal, entertainment system didn't work. seats were broken, toilets were unclean, I am going to write an official complaint because the experience was below average.

Flight got delayed by 3 hours but no compensation or anything

Cambodia Intro Tour

Cambodia Intro

A memorable 10 days for sure!! As someone who had always wanted to visit Cambodia, my experience with IntroTravel and our guide Seyha exceeded my every expectation. On top of the already well-planned itinerary, Seyha always went above and beyond with recommendations and helped organize additional activities that suited our group’s interests. He took care of our every need throughout the trip as well. 10/10 would recommend both our amazing guide and Intro to anyone thinking about traveling somewhere new!

Classic Cambodia

Once we met up with the tour group, things went very well. We had just had a great tour in Thailand with Viator so this one had a lot to live up to. Accommodation was good, the meals that were provided were good (and supported teaching kitchens which was nice) and the tour guide (Li) was great. Negatives were: the booking of the initial transfer from the airport in Phnom Penh- it seems that 4 days is not enough advance warning to book a taxi from the airport to the hotel - and, the price is quite high for only a few meals covered (since the hotels provided breakfasts anyway) Other than those irritants, the tour was very good.

Cambodia Real Food Adventure

Overall it's a good tour. What we experienced was authentic and interesting, and there was a lot of it! Expectations were managed well, but reiterating itineraries after a weary day of travel would have been helpful. The food and accomodation was excellent with only a few disappointments, but when compared to the cost of the exceptional food and accommodation we arranged in Cambodia after the tour, I think there could be more value for the money, especially with such a small group. That said, I would still recommend the trip.

I had a great time on my tour in cambodia, the tour guide Hul made it especially amazing, Hul wasn’t just the normal tour guide he was not only so knowledgeable on everything we asked him but he was also our friend and really cared about us and our wellbeing! He also taught us lots of khmer and recommended delicious foods for us! His English is very good, and he is such a fun person all round! Couldn’t have asked for a better/more enthusiastic person to show us round Cambodia! Activities were just as great as Hul was ! Would recommend this trip for anyone who likes fun aswel as learning a bit of culture!

Best of Cambodia: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap 5-Day Tour

Although there was an extensive walking coupled with the heat, I enjoyed every minute of it. The guides are very knowledgeable and the driver was always on time. It would have been more pleasant if there was less walking, but I guess it can't be helped.

Cambodia Bike Tour Tour

Cambodia Bike Tour

We were a group of 8 people went on a Cambodia bike tour and it was an absolutely fantastic trip! The tour was well-organized and thoughtfully planned. We got to explore various cities and historical sites in Cambodia, including Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. The itinerary was diverse, allowing us to get a comprehensive experience of the country. The cycling routes selected for the tour were stunning. We cycled through lush countryside landscapes, picturesque villages, and charming towns. The routes were well-designed, offering a mix of challenging terrains and serene paths. Our local guide (Sum) was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Cambodia's culture and history. His expertise added immense value to the tour. He shared captivating stories and insights about the landmarks we visited, making the experience even more enriching. One of the highlights of this bike tour was the opportunity to interact with locals and immerse ourselves in the local culture. We had the chance to visit traditional villages, learn about their way of life, and even participate in local activities. Throughout the tour, the support van was readily available, and the team ensured that we were safe and comfortable at all times. We were provided with well-maintained bikes, and safety equipment. The accommodation provided during the tour was excellent. We stayed in comfortable hotels that offered a glimpse into the local hospitality. Moreover, we got to savor the delicious Cambodian cuisine at various local restaurants along the way. I cannot say enough about Siem Reaper Travel. They did an amazing job, and the entire company was owned and operated by local Cambodian. It was value for money. I definitely highly recommended them to organize your trip to Cambodia.

Angkor Bike, Hike, Kayak Tour

Overall, we were very happy with Siem Reaper Travel. The tour of the Angkor Wat complex with Mr Phearun was amazing. We traveled to places where we were the only people at some ruins. Customer service from Ms. Sreyleak was excellent. Emails were promptly returned and questions were promptly answered. So many wonderful memories touring through the back countries of Cambodia.

Wonders of Cambodia In 6 Days - Private Tour Tour

Wonders of Cambodia In 6 Days - Private Tour

We just got a fantastic and perfect trip to Cambodia in 6 days. Ms. Evelyn was incredibly responsive as we were planning the trip, as we went through 4 iterations before settling on a final itinerary. And during the trip when there was a hiccup, she was quick to be responsive and made mid trip adjustments. She was clear about all that was included and set us up with fantastic hotels and guides. We learned so much about Cambodia and the wonderful people who live there. Time in Siem Reap was so amazing!

What people love about Cambodia Tours

Polite people, well organized and magnificent archeological sites
The trip included a variety of activities that gave us a wide range of experiences. It was well paced and included both day and night activities. We visited some hidden gems that we would have missed with independent travel. The guides were very knowledgeable, spoke excellent English, and very professional. I loved my time in Cambodia and would highly recommend this trip
