Once your electronic tickets are issued through the website, you will receive an email confirmation, which will include the ticket number, and the reservation numbers for each airline you’ll be traveling to. You can check your ticket in My Booking.

Everything You Didn't Know About eTickets

In yesteryear, travelers would buy airline tickets from a local travel agent and the physical tickets were mailed to their address. These days, you almost always have to use an electronic ticket; it can cost up to $20 for the privilege of getting an airline ticket in the mail, although some travel agencies will still mail you tickets.

How eTickets Work

These days, when you purchase a flight online, you're  buying an eTicket , or a ticket that's stored online. Airline and travel agency sites will walk you through the purchase process, and it's super easy to follow. After you've selected your flight online, you'll be prompted to pay with a credit or debit card. The screen will then present you with your payment confirmation receipt, your eTicket, and your itinerary. Many travelers print the eTicket and itinerary or make sure they're saved together in their email for easy access.

While some people print their eTickets at home and bring them to the airport, most travelers today add the eTicket to their iPhone wallet or keep the eTicket link open to scan at the gate when boarding.

What to Bring to the Airport

Be sure to check out your airline's requirements for checking in and boarding the flight before you start packing. In some cases, you'll have to print out your eTicket to show to the staff at check-in (along with, of course, your passport and visa, if required). You may not need to show these to anyone if you check in with a self-service check-in kiosk. You'll also be able to check in online if that makes it easier for you. 

For the vast majority of cases, though, the only thing you need to worry about is your passport. if you're traveling internationally, hand your passport to the check-in staff and they'll check their computer system for a reservation in your name. They'll even be able to print out your boarding pass without needing to see your eTicket because everything is stored online.

Additionally, if they do need to see proof of your purchase or your ticket, you'll be able to get away with showing it to them on your phone or laptop, so make sure to download a copy before you head to the airport and keep your technology charged. 

What Happens at Check-In

After arriving at the airport, go to the check-in desk and show the agent your passport and eTicket. They'll compare your ticket against the airline's database and issue you a printed boarding pass when everything checks out. This boarding pass is what enables you to get on the plane. Many airports are installing self-service check-in desks, which can help save time as there are rarely any queues for them. If you see one, type in your information on the screen (usually your eTicket's reservation number, your passport number, and/or your flight details), and it'll print your boarding pass for you. It'll also print a tag for your luggage, which you should attach to your backpack or suitcase by following the on-screen instructions. Take your luggage to the bag drop queue, place it on the conveyor belt, and then you're good to go. Head to security and then make your way to your gate.

Well prepared travelers are those who are prepared for everything not to go smoothly, so be sure you arrive with plenty of time to spare in case of problems like computer glitches, flight delays, or more.

What if You've Checked in Online?

When you check in online, you'll enter the details of your eTicket into the airline's website and in exchange they'll email you a copy of your boarding pass. You can then choose to store this on your phone or print it out at home.

Once you get to the airport, if you're  traveling carry-on only , you can head straight to security at the airport without having to queue to check in or drop your bags, which helps you save time. 

What to Keep With Your eTicket

You may want to keep a copy of your air itinerary and your accommodation confirmation with your ticket, especially if you're taking many flights over a short period of time and are likely to forget dates/times. Your hotel may take you through the same online process and allow you to print lodging confirmation. Keep these copies of hostel and air itineraries in your checked baggage in case of lost luggage . If someone opens your bag, they'll immediately know what flight you were on and where you'll be staying.

Alternatively, if you don't have access to a printer, be sure to attach a luggage tag to your backpack or suitcase so that you can be easily contacted if they go missing. Keep your flight and hotel confirmations on your phone and/or laptop as well.

A booking reference number, also referred to as a PNR, is a six-digit alphanumeric code that appears after the "Booking reference" or "PNR" field on your ticket (for example: B8XYZ6). Valid characters in a booking reference are letters (A to Z) and numbers (1 to 9).

E-ticket number

Your e-ticket number is a 13-digit number mentioned on your e-ticket (for example: 1572345679876).

If you are issued multiple tickets within the same booking, your e-ticket number will include a suffix at the end (for example: 1572345679876-77). This means that your e-ticket numbers are 1572345679876 and 1572345679877, respectively.

When retrieving your booking using the e-ticket number, please enter one e-ticket number without including any letters or special characters within your search.

Looking up your reservation on your airline or travel service's website usually lets you view/modify your seats, purchase meals, and make requests for special accommodations. Using the Airline or Travel Service Website

• If you just want to check the status of a flight and you know the flight number, just open Google or Bing and search for "Flight (flight number) status" for up-to-date results.

• If the username is a membership number (e.g., Delta SkyMiles number, United Mileage Plus number), check the confirmation email from your booking to find it, or select the Forgot number link to request it via email.
• If you can't log in with a username and password, you can usually check your flight with your reservation number—a string of letters and numbers unique to your flight—by clicking a Find My Trip or Trips option. Airlines have different names for this number, including "reservation code," "confirmation number," "reference number," and "record locator." If you received a confirmation message via email after booking your flight, you'll find it in that message, as well as on paper tickets and printed receipts.

Cancellations within 24 hours

If your travel was booked  seven days  or more prior to the scheduled departure date, you have  24 hours  from the time the booking was made to cancel your reservation without being charged a cancellation fee. The entire booking must be cancelled to qualify (not applicable for JetBlue Vacations reservations).

Certain reservation types cannot be changed or cancelled online, including:

• Reservations with a different city for the return flight than the outgoing flight (i.e. JFK-LAX outgoing, LAX-LGA returning).
• Reservations with a JetBlue voucher or travel certificate as a form of payment.
• Reservations with some special service requests.

Locked out of your reservation?

If you are trying to access your reservation online to change it and input incorrect information three times, the reservation will lock as a security measure. You will be able to gain access again after 4 hours. Please contact us if you need assistance before your reservation is unlocked.

Reservations made through a travel agency, including online travel agencies (i.e. Expedia, etc.), may be eligible for a change or cancellation on jetblue.com from the Manage Trips page, through the original booking source, or by contacting JetBlue. Depending on the type of fare rules and restrictions may apply.    In some cases, third-party bookings are unable to be managed on our website. If you're unable to self-manage your reservation on the website and wish to avoid the service fee for your third-party reservation, we recommend contacting the agency or individual you booked through to assist you.    There is a one-time $50 per-person   service fee that applies to ticket changes made by JetBlue on all travel agency bookings which may otherwise be self-managed on jetblue.com.   If you still need help with your reservation made through a travel agent, please  contact us .

TrueBlue and JetBlue travel credits

If you are a TrueBlue member and are logged in to your TrueBlue account when you change or cancel a reservation online, any credit due from your ticket will automatically be placed into your Travel Bank account for immediate or future use.

Using a JetBlue travel credit to pay for changes

If your credit resides in your Travel Bank account, you may use JetBlue travel credits to pay any change/cancel fees and applicable difference in airfare when changing a flight online.

JetBlue travel credits cannot be used as a form of payment for services and extras, such as Even More® Space seats, bag fees, pet fees, etc.

What’s an E ticket for a flight?

The itinerary receipt with the e-tickets number will be sent to your email address immediately after the ticket has been issued. You can also download an electronic version of the itinerary receipt from the GDS website.

How to buy a ticket for child?

During reservation, please choose the age category of which the child is in order to by a ticket for child: 0–2 years or 2–12 years. Most of the airline companies offer discounts for children’s flight E-Tickets: infants (0–2 years) — normally their discount is 90% of the standard tariff without the extra seat; children (2–12 years) — normally, their discount is 25% of the standard tariff without the extra seat; for minors over 12 years, the E-Tickets are booked under standard fares. During reservation, please make sure you entered the child’s age information accurately. The child’s age on the date of flight must correspond to the selected ticket category. Age of the infant or child must meet age categories (“infant”, “child”), defined by the airline at the date of completion of the trip (end of the flight on the last segment). The children’s tickets must be booked at the same time as the adult’s ones. If a child is going to fly unaccompanied, please let our Customer Care Service know of it before booking the ticket. We will then inform you whether it is possible for the selected flight. In addition, please check with the carrier the list of documents required for the child’s/infant’s flight.

The PNR number is in your itinerary receipt near the Booking Reference field. It consists of letters and numbers — for example, 10TCHJ. And you need passport last name to check an air tickets.

During reservation, please enter your miles card number in the corresponding field. If you have already booked the ticket, please contact the airline directly or your travel agents.

Can I select a seat on the plane?

Yes, you can. You may select a seat on plane and save your time on check-in at the airport when you order tickets or E-Tickets. To do that, select the option Buy Seat on Board after you have chosen the flight. Specify a flight segment and a desired seat on the plane map.

Will I have an in-flight meal?

When you book a ticket, you may order and pay for special meal if the airline provides such an option. It will make your flight as comfortable as possible. To order the service, please select the Meal on board option when you are creating an order. Select the meal and a flight segment to which you wish to apply this service. The service price depends on the airline and the flight. Upon payment, an electronic miscellaneous document will be emailed at the address which you specified in customer information. If the service is unavailable on the site or you wish to select it after submitting the order, please contact our Customer Care Service.

How to find baggage allowance?

Travel with animals:.

You may transport animals in the aircraft cabin only after prior confirmation with the airline. Please note that most airlines allow carriage of cats and dogs. You should check the requirement for carriage of other animals with our Customer Care Service or make an unpaid booking and send the request for carriage of animals to [email protected] with a detailed description of what animal you need to transport (species of animal, its weight and size of cage) Once we have received a reply from the airline, one of our Customer Care Service agents will contact you and inform you on the costs of transporting animals. If you accept the costs of transportation, you will need to pay for the booking and the fee for the animal carriage. Please note! When you check in at the airport, you must submit all the documents for animals required by veterinary service of the country of destination or transit and/or the carrier. To define the list of documents, please contact the corresponding consulate and/or the carrier.

Using your booking code you have access to all your flights. You can make an advance seat reservation, rebook or cancel a flight, request special meals and book a Rail&Fly ticket at any time.
