Chris Stapleton is performing in Tampa in 2024

chris stapleton tour tampa fl

TAMPA, Fla. — Country music superstar Chris Stapleton is bringing his "All-American Road Show" tour to Tampa in 2024 with tickets going on sale this month.

Stapleton, one of the most recognized names in country music, announced the 2024 tour dates among a banner year for the musician.

In the last year alone, Stapleton was named Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards and Male Vocalist of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards, according to a news release. He also performed the National Anthem on arguably one of the most-watched stages in America — the Super Bowl.

The 8-time Grammy-award winner, fresh off three more Grammy nominations, will be performing in Tampa at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre on Friday, May 10. Stapleton will be joined by Grace Potter and Nikki Lane.

Fans can start snagging tickets to Stapleton's Tampa show starting on Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. For more information on tickets,  click here. Stapleton isn't the only big-name performer bringing their talents to Tampa next year. A slew of exciting shows have been announced in recent weeks, spanning the spectrum of music.

Sticking in the world of country, Kenny Chesney and Morgan Wallen are both performing at Raymond James Stadium in 2024. Chesney is opening his stadium tour in Tampa on April 20. Wallen will perform for two nights — July 11 and 12.

Another familiar voice to country music fans — Darius Rucker — is getting the band back together to hit the road in 2024 for Hootie & the Blowfish's "Summer Camp with Trucks" tour. Hootie & the Blowfish will be in Tampa on Sept. 26.

Icons Billy Joel and Sting are taking the stage together for a Super Bowl-sized performance at Raymond James Stadium in February for one of next years most-anticipated shows on the calendar. Their concert is set for Feb. 24.

Other notable concerts include the  Red Hot Chili Peppers with special guest Ice Cube,   Boyz II Men, Styx and Foreginer, Drake with J. Cole, and Bad Bunny.

Here are over 50 local shows we’re excited about.

Styx and Foreigner: Foreigner already embarked on a farewell run in 2023, but a tour with Styx seems like a good reason to return to Tampa. Catch the “Renegades & Juke Box Heroes Tour” on Saturday, July 20, at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.

Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire: The “Heart & Soul 2024 Tour” features two bands that have been going since the late 1960s — and two MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre shows. Thursday, Aug. 15 and Friday, Aug. 16.

Review: Country superstar Chris Stapleton shows it's about the conviction, not the showmanship

Let the parade begin. Country stars are coming to U.S. Bank Stadium.

Kenny Chesney was expected. After all, he's country's king of stadium concerts (he's back again on May 4). But on Saturday, Chris Stapleton kicked off a run of three new country-affiliated stadium performers.

Stapleton may be one of the most award-winning country artists of the past decade (including 10 Grammys, three for country album of the year, two CMA Awards for top album and seven for best male vocalist) but he doesn't seem to have anything in common with the other new headliners, underground phenomenon Zach Bryan (Aug. 24) and best-selling bad-boy Morgan Wallen (June 20-21).

Stapleton, a 45-year-old straw-cowboy-hat-wearin' Kentuckian, lives in the intersection of blues and country, two cousins in the sense that they can plumb deep emotions in straightforward ways. Stapleton is a master of concision, in conversation, lyrics and music. On Saturday, he was a masterfully expressive blues-rock guitarist, equal parts finesse and fire but never flashy.

As with George Strait, it's not about the showmanship with Stapleton, it's about the songs, vocals and musicianship. The theater footlights and a proscenium curtain backdrop notwithstanding, this was about as frills-free as a stadium show gets.

Stapleton is not a physical performer, but he's forceful. He knows how to make his voice roar, growl and even purr real nice and pretty when he wants to. He owes a debt to R&B shouter Otis Redding and full-volume rocker John Fogerty.

For two hours Saturday, Stapleton sang with deepfelt conviction, unleashing his vocal power in the homestretch on "The Devil Named Music" and "Traveller," the title track of his 2015 debut album. His most impassioned vocal came on "Cold," the heartbreaking power ballad with painfully lonely blues guitar, elevating it to the night's high point. How often is a ballad the best moment at a stadium concert?

Stapleton showed an expressive vocabulary on guitar, with galloping on "White Horse," garage-rock flailing on "Second One to Know," slacker bass-heavy twang on "Might as Well Get Stoned," swampy chicken pickin' on "Hard Livin'," bent-note blues on "Worry B Gone," soulful caresses on "Think I'm in Love with You," rumbling blues-rock on "Nobody to Blame," a boozy bluesiness on "Tennessee Whiskey" and haunting twang rock on "The Devil Named Music."

Missing in action Saturday was Stapleton's wife, backup singer Morgane Stapleton, but on board in the six-man band was harmonica player Mickey Raphael, who is usually with Willie Nelson & Family.

Stapleton, who opened for Strait at the Vikings stadium in 2021, understands the impact of being an opening act in a stadium can have. For his All-American Road Show tour, he tapped Marcus King, a rising blues-rock guitar hero, and Lainey Wilson, one of Nashville's hottest artists who captured top album and entertainer of the year at last November's CMA Awards.

Even though Wilson gave a no-gimmicks performance, it was easy to see why she earned the entertainer of the year prize from her peers.

Wilson, 31, cut a striking figure on the stadium's big screens with her hippie-meets-Western aesthetic of turquoise, fringe, bell bottoms and platform shoes. She was engaging, encouraging and effervescent. And she seemed genuinely grateful about her recent ascent after 13 years in Nashville.

With her unapologetic Louisiana drawl, Wilson imparted wisdom in the empowering "Things a Man Oughta Know" and the confidence-inducing "Atta Girl" (which she introduced by reading a female fan's sign: "I am smart, I am beautiful, I am godly").

She poured her heart into the very mainstream "Country's Cool Again", the Western-flavored "Wildflowers and Wild Horses" (which was introduced by a guitarist playing an instrumental version of "Ghost Riders in the Sky") and "Wait in the Truck," her award-winning duet with Jelly Roll that was rendered as a solo acoustic guitar number enrapturing the suddenly silent 47,000 fans in the huge stadium. And she closed the knockout hourlong set by belting out a big note on her own hit "Heart Like a Truck."

After opening for both Stapleton and Luke Combs at the Vikings stadium in her only major Twin Cities appearances, Wilson is clearly ready to headline her own arena show.

Lucchese Launches Chris Stapleton Collection

DALLAS--( BUSINESS WIRE )-- Lucchese Bootmaker , the iconic heritage brand, is no stranger to legendary, storytelling partnerships. Today marks the release of Lucchese’s special custom collection in collaboration with 8x Grammy-Award winning artist, Chris Stapleton. The Lucchese x Chris Stapleton collection demonstrates the dedication, patience, and a love for the craft, which lace the foundations of what Lucchese and Stapleton both do so well, creating a harmonious and inimitable result.

“Lucchese boots are what cowboy boots are supposed to be”

While this collaboration project officially began in 2018 with product ideation, one could argue it had been brewing for many years before then, thanks to Lucchese and Stapleton’s mutual appreciation and respect for one another. This friendship began nearly ten years ago in El Paso, Texas, with Stapleton’s first visit to the Lucchese factory following a tour stop, and, now, the collaboration marks the culmination of a five-year journey between Lucchese and Stapleton. The result is a distinct suite of boots that seamlessly marries the artistry of bootmaking, storytelling, and philanthropy, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the star’s charity, Outlaw State of Kind . With his deep love of Lucchese being so evident from his collection of vintage boots to the Lucchese shirts his band wears on tour, this artistic joining of forces made for the most effortless collaboration.

"We are so delighted to welcome Chris Stapleton to the Lucchese family. If there was ever a relationship that was meant to be, Chris and Lucchese would be the one,” says Doug Kindy, Lucchese Bootmaker President. “Chris is at the top of his craft and continues to embody ingenuity, creativity, and soul throughout his illustrious career — all values we share and admire at Lucchese.”

“I'm of the mind that everything can be refined to an art,” says Stapleton, “and that's what I love about Lucchese boots — they've taken bootmaking and refined it to an art.”

The collection features three unique boot styles, each in two colorways, that are handmade in Texas – The Original , San Antonio , and Old Friend . The Original is a direct pull from the archives and is a replica of the first pair of boots Chris Stapleton ever designed during his first visit to the Lucchese factory. These all-American Buffalo boots boast a hand-corded moccasin toe that is a testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail that Stapleton and Lucchese celebrate. The San Antonio is an echo of Lucchese’s vintage designs, featuring a colorway in the brand’s coveted Black Cherry finish. The boots are made with a brush-off Santini goat with a high-shine finish and historic Seville hand-cording detail, inspired by the San Antonio factory. Finally, the Old Friend bridges the gap between grit and traditionalism thanks to its Western silhouette and supple suede leather, acting as the “songwriters’ uniform,” and paying homage to Stapleton’s heroes who, in fact, feel like old friends.

“Lucchese boots are what cowboy boots are supposed to be,” says Stapleton. “I can't wait for people to try them on and find out what I already know: when you put a pair of these on, you don't need anything else.”

Lucchese’s rich legacy, spanning well over a century, has long been regarded as the epitome of masterful bootmaking. The brand's commitment to exceptional quality, meticulous attention to detail, and perfect blend of traditionalism and innovation has set the label apart in the industry, making it the preferred choice for connoisseurs and newcomers alike.

“Lucchese has been hand-making boots and leather goods the American way for 140 years, and this is as proud as we’ve ever been,” says Kindy. “We are proud, not only to call Chris a friend and to call ourselves fans, but also to have the unique opportunity to create a line of boots that honors Chris Stapleton, both personally and professionally.”

The Lucchese x Chris Stapleton collection is available for purchase in-store at all Lucchese retail locations and through Lucchese's official website. To learn more about Lucchese Bootmaker and the collaboration with Chris Stapleton, watch the partnership video and visit www.lucchese.com .

Chris Stapleton announces first Australian tour

By Kath Devaney

  • X (formerly Twitter)

Chris Stapleton is one of the most beloved artists on the planet today, selling out arenas across the US and Europe, building his loyal fanbase that spans from grandkids to grandparents.

Stapleton's mesmerising soul-fused hoarse vocal harks back to blues and roots music of the deep south, with the Grammy winning artist seemingly overcoming his fear of flying to trek to Australian and New Zealand for his first tour.

The Kentucky-born artist is an 10-time Grammy, 15-time CMA and 10-time ACM Award-winner and one of the United States' most respected and beloved musicians.

In the midst of yet another triumphant year, Stapleton recently won two awards at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards : Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song (both for his #1 song, 'White Horse').

He was also named Entertainer of the Year at last year's ACM Awards — resulting in a prestigious ACM Triple Crown Award — and was named Male Vocalist of the Year for the seventh time at the CMA Awards this past fall, breaking his own record for most wins ever in the category.

Additionally, he performed the National Anthem at 2023's Super Bowl LVII and has collaborated in recent years with Adele, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, P!nk, Sheryl Crow, Santana and many more.

'White Horse' is from Stapleton’s acclaimed fifth studio album, Higher . Produced by Dave Cobb, Morgane Stapleton, and Stapleton, Higher was recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio A. Across its 14 songs, Stapleton showcases his supernatural voice and musical versatility with songs that span genres and defy easy categorisation.

Alongside Stapleton (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, slide electric guitar), the album features Cobb (acoustic guitar, eclectic guitar), J.T. Cure (bass), Paul Franklin (pedal steel), Derek Mixon (drums), Morgane (background vocals, synthesizer, tambourine), and Lee Pardini (organ, piano).

There's no doubt that tickets to these stadium shows, where Stapleton will be joined by soulful Americana young gun Marcus King , will be the hottest in town.

Catch the playing the following shows. Tickets are on sale from 11am Friday 12 April.
