Desert safari Oman

Muscat has several companies that offer 'desert safari' experiences.  However, with desert safaris, one must be careful in choosing them as the definition, activities, and quality can vary dramatically.  We suggest that you look for a desert safari that focuses on highlighting the environmental and cultural aspect of the desert.  Many fly-by-night operators set up and sell desert safaris of dubious quality.  Be wary of very cheap rates for safaris.  Questions to ask will be: How large is the group?  What kind of food is served?  Are the animals and entertainment appropriate for the local culture?

Oman’s name is closely associated with desert, an extension of the Bedouin lifestyle with its ancient associations of traditional culture and authentic original customs. Set on the Arabian Peninsula, Oman is as rich in natural beauty as in ancient heritage. From the green of wadis and endless rolling sand dunes to the impenetrably Rocky Mountains and ancient villages built into desert walls, Oman has much to offer. Your trip to Oman is incomplete if you do not venture out on the desert safari in the Wahiba Sands.

The roads in Oman are excellent, though for nervous passengers like myself, they drive too fast and too close! In Nizwa we went to the souk and the fort- both excellent. We also got the opportunity to see a camel up close and personal - which was on my wish list! From here we had coffee then took the winding road upto The Green Mountain, (which unfortunately these days is not so Green) - spectacular views and well worth a visit. Then back down the mountain for a truly memorable lunch, delicious! A quick look around a nearby village with fascinating old buildings and loads of date palms - absolutely beautiful. Then we headed back to the hotel. Throughout the trip Saeed was keen to take care of us and show us everything we asked. Excellent trip! Read more Written May 9, 2022

Kirti Kulhari Went Dolphin Spotting In Muscat

Kirti Kulhari is busy enjoying the tranquility of the ocean in Muscat. In her latest pictures on Instagram, the opening frame includes a selfie video of Kirti on a yacht, exhibiting the water behind her. The next slide includes a boomerang of Kirti along with her friends. From enjoying Bollywood songs on the yacht to trying her hand at snorkelling, Kirti had an amazing vacation in Muscat.  The actress wrote, “Ahhhh went into the ocean after soooo long and it reminded me of how much I have missed it…Saw dolphins for the first time (wish they came closer though ) and snorkelled with not the best visibility, but it was such a beautiful ride into the ocean and just being a part of the ocean once again my heart is full, mind calm and m ready to go back to work tomorrow.” If Kirti Kulhari's vacation left you yearning for a fun-filled holiday in Oman, you are definitely not alone. Here are 5 activities that you can do on your trip to Oman.

1. Desert Camping

Camping in Wahiba Sands is one of the most popular activities that tourists indulge in. The Oman desert is enormous and is also called The Empty Quarter. While you drive to the camp, you can enjoy a desert safari which is also an experience in itself. Just make sure you carry enough water for the ride.

2. Whale Shark Snorkelling

A short boat ride away from Muscat, Damaniyat is a chain of nine uninhabited islands. The island is a top priority on the itinerary of tourists and adventure enthusiasts. Courtesy: snorkelling. Make sure you plan your trip between September and November, which is peak season to spot whale sharks.

3. Scuba Diving

Oman is heaven for adventure enthusiasts, who can also indulge in scuba diving. If you are lucky, you can spot sea turtles, sharks and coral reefs. In addition, the Damaniyat island is also a great spot to witness migratory birds.

4. Experience Turtle Hatching

If you are a wildlife lover, then you'll enjoy watching sea turtles nesting and hatchlings on Oman's remote beaches. It must be noted that Ras Al Jinz is the perfect location to also spot endangered green turtle nesting.

Love hiking? Then what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and jet off to Wadi Ghul, often described as Oman's Grand Canyon.
