SUN, SPICE AND SEA BREEZES
It's no coincidence that many of the best European cruises call in the most beautiful ports in the world. Eat your way through the cobbled streets of Italy, contrast the timeless beauty of Greece's ruins with the modern chic that's come to define its islands or hike through forlorn caverns and up lush waterfalls in captivating Croatia.
DISCOVER LA DOLCE VITA
From the storied streets of Rome to the charming canals of Venice, Italy is a country that needs no introduction. Whether you pose with Michelangelo's David in Florence or indulge in to-die-for Pizza in Naples, it's no wonder why so many cruises to Europe visit la bella Italia.
FROM THE ACROPOLIS TO THE AEGEAN
Greece is remarkable, from the ancient Acropolis of Athens to the blue-roofed houses of Santorini. Whether you trek through the limestone hills in the north or swim through the cobalt waters around the Cyclades, it's easy to see why this is one of the best places to visit in Europe.
"GAMES OF THRONES" Lives On
The hit TV show might be finished, but "Game of Thrones" fans will recognize dozens of locations in the walled city of Dubrovnik , the jewel of Croatia's Adriatic coast. Farther afield, explore the countless waterfalls of Plitvice Lakes National Park or pair European cruises with tastings at underrated wineries.
SCENES THAT INSPIRED 1,000 PAINTINGS
Endless possibilities are what the coasts of France, Spain and Portugal have always been about. Generations of painting greats from Van Gogh to Picasso have found inspiration from the crystalline coasts of the French Riviera, to the craggy mountaintops of the Canary Islands. Of course, the best European cruises also dock in timeless cities like Barcelona, Cherbourg, Lisbon and beyond.
CITY OF LOVE, CÔTE D'AZUR
The only thing better than strolling into Paris as the Eiffel Tower lights up at night? Sitting down for a meal of fresh-caught seafood as the sun sets into the harbor of aptly-named Nice. France has got something for every traveler, which is why so many cruises to Europe dock here.
SAY "SALUD" TO SPAIN
Sitting down for Spanish tapas is one of the most satisfying food experiences in the world, especially when you wash it down with fruity sangria. Plus, the Jurassic topography of the Canary Islands and the storied streets of Barcelona are just a few of the best places to visit in Europe you'll find here.
KING OF DISCOVERY
Portugal is where many of the first expeditions to the New World start, but most people on European cruises bound for Lisbon wonder why anyone would leave. Explore the mysterious Quinta de Regaleira castle in Sintra, pour port wine in Porto or practice your surfing skills in the Algarve.

THE JOY OF GOING DUTCH

ETERNAL LANDSCAPES ON THE EMERALd ISLE
Life is but a dream in Ireland , whether you down a pint of Guinness and trace tales told by James Joyce in Dublin, or careen along the Cliffs of Moher along the west coast. Many cruises to Europe also stop in Northern Ireland's Belfast, a city that's a testament to rebirth and reconciliation.
STEP INTO A SCOTTISH FAIRYTALE
When you visit Scotland, it can be difficult to discern legend from real life. Scotland's one of the best places to visit in Europe, period.
WINTER AURORA, SUMMER SUN
Scandinavia is dark for much of the year, but light is what defines its polar nations, from the Midnight Sun that rises high above Demark in mid-summer, to the aurora that dances above Norway and Iceland amid winter's deepest freeze. Find endless possibilities and the best European cruises along the Baltic, from the savory seafood eateries of Oslo, to the cold cityscape of Reykjavik.
SCANDINAVIA'S UNSUNG SISTER
Many of the best European cruises dock in Denmark, and it's no wonder why. From colorful Nyhavn harbor in Copenhagen to storied castles like Amalienborg and Frederiksborg, Denmark more than makes up for the fact that its more famous neighbors often eclipse it.
LAND OF FIRE AND ICE
It's easy to be intrigued by Iceland , whether you walk through Reykjavik's riveting Hallgrimskirkja church, or watch the northern lights dance over Kirkjufellsfoss waterfalls. Plus, there are few better ways to cap off cruises to Europe than a dip in the aptly-named Blue Lagoon.
PRICELESS PANORAMAS, FABULOUS FJORDs
Norway is a country in beautiful balance. Had enough of the orderliness of Oslo? Head west to beautiful Bergen, where finger-shaped fjords jut into and out of thousands of miles of coastline. Or contrast a fresh fish dinner at sea level with the view from towering Trolltunga cliff.
Europe is beautiful in every season, but the peak of comfortable weather (especially in the north) is between May and September.
You should always be prepared for rain and colder weather when you travel to Europe, especially in the North. Dress in light layers for your vacation.
Europeans speak more English the farther north you go. Your phone's translation app (or, at minimum, learning how to say "Hello" and "Thank You" in local languages) will aid you along the Mediterranean.

Then head ashore to savor fresh ingredients and iconic dishes, including fresh Greek salads and Italian gelato. From ship to shore, taste the best of abroad with Princess.
Sip and Savor
Home to some of the best vineyards in the world, Europe knows a thing or two about wine — and so does Princess. Visit Vines wine bar, one of the best-stocked cellars at sea, and sample an assortment of reds and whites. Unwind with a drink in hand at Crooners, a vintage Sinatra-era cocktail lounge. Or enjoy a glass from the comfort of your stateroom balcony while taking in views of Europe’s most inspiring shorelines.
Cultural Immersion
Dive even deeper.
On a European cruise, explore destinations even at sea. Learn from local experts — like musicians, dancers, athletes and chefs — who come on board to show you the unique personality of each region. Or listen to stories from international crew members, many of whom call these lands home. Even kids can awaken their sense of wonder with our Youth and Teen Centers, created in partnership with Discovery™ and Animal Planet™.
Entertainment
Find your joy.
Embark on adventures by day, and indulge in entertainment by night. Watch Movies Under the Stars® at our 300-square-foot outdoor theater. Attend original productions from Broadway legend Stephen Schwartz, composer of Wicked . Or learn traditional moves, like Flamenco or Irish stepdance, and listen to popular music from the destinations on your itinerary. On a European cruise with Princess, the choice is yours.
Celebrations & Romance
Love blooms on the love boat.
It's difficult to imagine something more romantic than sailing through the alluring cities and charming countryside of Europe. While on board your European cruise, we cater to your sentimental side with private dining on your balcony — like breakfast for two or a sunset dinner — honeymoon packages, flowers and chocolates delivered to your room and couples-only massages in the Sanctuary.

Cheap Europe Cruises - Cruises to Europe
Featured europe cruise deals, cruising guide, why cruise to europe.
Cruisers can visit multiple cities -- often multiple countries -- in one weeklong to two-week trip, so they can hit the highlights and only pay airfare once. Instead of logging long hours traveling in a bus, navigating train schedules in a foreign language or moving from hotel to hotel, cruise passengers can enjoy fine dining, complimentary entertainment and one comfortable home base for the entire trip as the ship sails from Spain to France to Italy.
What are Popular Activities in Europe?
Activities vary depending on where you go. Cultural and historical attractions are present nearly everywhere -- whether that's exploring Roman ruins, visiting famous art museums or touring castles, fortresses and historic homes. Beautiful cathedrals and religious sites are plentiful. Tasty food and wine tours are educational and available throughout all of Europe.
When is a Good Time to Cruise to Europe?
While there are some European cruises year-round, spring, summer and fall are the major times to go. Summertime is the primary time that Baltic and Arctic cruises are offered to destinations in Northern Europe.
The best times to go on a Europe river cruise are often spring and fall, when temperatures are pleasant and crowds somewhat diminished. Travelers looking for a unique spin on a river cruise can opt for a late fall sailing to visit Europe's famous Christmas Markets -- just be prepared for cool weather.
What are Popular Ports in Europe?
Baltic ports include St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinki, while Norwegian fjords sailings call at Geiranger, Bergen and Flam. Western Europe ports include Lisbon, Dublin, Liverpool and Glasgow.
Rhine River cruises visit Amsterdam, Cologne, Strasbourg and Basel. Popular ports on the Danube River include Vienna and Budapest. Other popular river cruise destinations, depending on which itinerary you choose, might include Bruges, Porto, Bordeaux and Paris.
Where do Europe cruises depart from?
Baltic and Norwegian fjord cruises depart from a range of ports, including Southampton (about an hour from London), Copenhagen, Stockholm, Bergen and Amsterdam. Round-Britain cruises depart from Dublin, Southampton or other ports in England.
European river cruises depart from a variety of ports, depending on the river and itinerary. Danube River cruises depart from Budapest, Passau or Nuremberg; Rhine River from Amsterdam and Basel; Seine from Paris; Rhone from Lyon, Avignon and Arles; Portugal's Douro from Lisbon and Porto; Elbe from Berlin and Prague; and Bordeaux cruises depart from Bordeaux.
What are Popular Regions of Europe?
Northern sailings take in Scandinavia (including Norway's gorgeous fjord country), Russia and other Baltic capitals along with the U.K., Ireland and Iceland. Some venture north of the Arctic Circle to the very top of Europe.
River cruises bring travelers to even more destinations along the Rhine, Danube and other major waterways -- including Amsterdam, Paris, Vienna and Budapest.
What are Tips to Find Cruise deals to Europe?
Here are our best tips for finding a cheap cruise or cruise deal to Europe. If you book a “guaranteed cabin” (they select for you), a cabin on a lower deck or sail on an older ship from a brand you like, then you can get the best price for a specific cruise to Europe. Last minute cruises deals to Europe appear as you get closer to the sail date, usually 1-2 weeks in advance. Taking a cruise to Europe in the shoulder season (before or after the peak season) can also be a great way to find a cruise deal.

Find your cruise to europe, why should i go on a cruise to europe.
The continent's many well-developed waterways make cruises one of the best ways to visit favorites like Budapest and Paris cruises. Embarking on a European 5-day cruise in 2024 or 7-day cruise lets you explore everything the old country has to offer. Europe's diversity and rich history mean you can pack a baker's dozen of cultures and countries into even a short 3-day cruise. Some river cruises in Europe may even stop at more than 50 cities before the journey is made. Travel within the European Union is remarkably easy and cruise lines take full advantage of that.
How can I find cheap cruises to Europe?
The best way to find cheap cruises to Europe from the United States on Expedia is to sort your search results by price, automatically putting the most affordable cruises to Europe from the US at the top of the list, such as a 3-day all-inclusive cruise. It can also be helpful to be flexible with your travel dates, letting you choose from various options. A common strategy to save money is to book Europe cruises far in advance.
Which cruise lines to Europe are available?
Some of the best cruise lines to Europe include Viking and MSC cruises to Europe, both of which are famous for luxury offerings like lavish suites and world-famous live entertainment. Choose your desire length, a 3-day cruise, a 5-day cruise or 7-day cruise. Many cruise lines offer journeys through the continent, beginning at ports like Paris and traveling throughout Europe to visit countries like Germany, Spain, Italy, and even Greece. The Viking grand tour of Europe cruise takes you through the heart of Europe from Amsterdam to Budapest , and the Cunard Queen Mary 2 offers a wealth of short Europe cruises.
How can I find Europe cruise deals?
To find Europe cruise deals, look for the green discount indicator text above the price estimate on the search results page. This shows the discount available for any given cruise on offer. You can also sort your options by everything from cabin experience and itinerary to specific ports of call such as Amsterdam or Paris , or longer experiences such as a Danube river 7-day cruise in 2024to Budapest.
What should I look out for on a boat cruise to Europe?
Make sure you check your cruise itinerary details to see if your favorites are included. Whether you choose to travel the Rhine and Danube cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest or float along the French Riviera from Spain to Italy, the best part of a Europe cruise is how many amazing cities you have to choose from. From a 1-night France to Italy cruise, traveling from Marseille to Genoa , or a 3-day cruise from Italy to Greece to stop by Civitavecchia, Naples , and Piraeus, Europe's got it all.
What are the best Europe cruise destinations?
Europe cruise destinations are as varied as the continent itself, but some of the most popular include the UK, Amsterdam , and the Mediterranean. You can easily fit 50 or more destinations into your European cruise vacation if you book one of the more extended options, such as a 7-day cruise in the Mediterranean from Barcelona. River cruises in Europe are a popular choice, and a 2-day cruise to Marseille or 7-day Portugal river cruise can also allow you to witness stunning riverfront scenery along the continent's storied rivers.
When is the best time for a cruise trip to Europe?
The best times for cruises that go to Europe tend to be the shoulder seasons of spring and fall. Spring and autumn prices are generally more affordable during the summer high season, and the weather is mild throughout most of the continent. If you’re considering a 5-day cruise in 2025 in northern Europe, such as a Norwegian fjord cruise or a cruise on the North Sea, going in the summer can offer that much-needed warmth.
How long does it take for a boat cruise to Europe?
The length of a cruise to Europe varies based on where you depart from and the length of your European cruise vacation, but if you want a 2- or 3-day cruise to Europe, you'll need to leave from somewhere on the continent. 7-day cruises to Europe are also readily available if you want to experience a wider variety of stops, but they mainly depart from Europe as well. For example, a cruise to Barcelona from Genoa will only take about a day at sea, if that. Leaving from the states, such as on a cruise to Europe from Florida, will have you on a cruise that easily lasts more than a month.
Can I book a luxury cruise to Europe?
You can find a selection of luxury cruise ships, such as Regent and Holland America Line on Expedia. A luxury cruise to Europe offers old-world extravagance, stunning amenities and high-end features, such as spa treatments and 24-hour room service in elegant, multi-room suites. The Zuiderdam ship , for example, lets you enjoy top-tier service, live performances, and even a jazz club on board, which allows you to make the most of your 4-day all-inclusive cruise
What are all-inclusive cruises to Europe like?
You'll find some of the best all-inclusive cruises to Europe from cruise lines like Celebrity and MSC . For example, you can enjoy specialty restaurants, an onsite casino, and even poolside bars that can be booked in advance on the Celebrity Constellation . A 3-day cruise in 2024to explore Europe on the MSC Virtuosa offers a full-service bar staffed by robots, circus-style performances, and even an on-board water park.
Can I get a family cruise to Europe?
A family cruise to Europe is easy to find, especially when you book with cruise lines like Carnival or Disney , where you'll find activities for adults and kids alike to enjoy featuring costumed characters and live entertainment themed around famed Disney properties representing anything from Cinderella to Aladdin or possibly even Star Wars. The Disney Dream , for example, boasts an impressive on-board water coaster, the first of its kind. Choose the length of the journey, a 3-day cruise or a 4-day cruise, according to your family’s needs. Once the adults have had their fill of the games, they can retire to the adults-only areas, such as the bar and lounge, while the kids continue with their activities.
Can I book a honeymoon cruise to Europe?
It's easy to create honeymoon cruise memories that will last a lifetime with cruise lines like Oceania and Viking . The Viking Lofn , for example, is a relatively small ship, with room for just 190 passengers. It offers sweeping river views and gourmet food for you and your partner in a supremely romantic setting, accompanied by suites of Scandinavian design. For your honeymoon, book a 7-day cruise deal in 2024 to Europe that takes you and your partner to some of the most romantic destinations in the world, including iconic hubs of romance such as Paris, Rome, and cozy cabins in the snow-covered Swiss Alps.
How do I book a cruise to Europe on Expedia?
To book the best Europe cruises on Expedia, simply use the filters and sorting function to narrow down the array of results to find the perfect cruise for your needs, whether it's a 7-day cruise or 3-day cruise in the Mediterranean, an Amalfi coast cruise in 2024, or a multi-city excursion along inland rivers. Once you've found the right cruise, you can book directly from Expedia after clicking the entry on your search results page. Keep an eye out for discounts marked with green text.
Do I need a passport for cruise tickets to Europe?
American citizens need a passport for a Europe cruise, especially since a lot of the most commonly booked cruises in Europe require you to fly there first. Considering the distance, a closed-loop cruise to Europe generally isn't available. If your 7-day cruise will bring you to multiple countries, be sure to check the regulations for each one and secure your passport well in advance of your travels.
Can I cancel my cruise to Europe?
If you changed your mind about traveling, go to the My Trips page of your Expedia account to cancel. Before this, check the cruise line information page for the service you booked. Many cruise lines charge cancellation fees or may only offer partial refunds and checking in advance can save you unpleasant surprises. The refund amount typically depends on how far in advance you cancel your cruise to Europe.
Why should I book a Europe cruise with Expedia?
Whether you book a 4-day cruise or 7-day cruise in 2024 with Expedia, you'll have access to a wide range of cruise lines and ships to choose from that let you customize your experience. It's easy to see which cruises to Europe are offering discounts by looking for the green text in the search results. One Key members may even earn points on eligible bookings, so sign up for free today if you haven't already.
About Europe Cruises
Europe is a land of breathtaking beauty, cultural charm, fine dining, and rich history. In just one European cruise, you can experience Nordic hospitality in Oslo, stroll around the Colosseum in Rome or take a shore excursion to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
This beautiful continent is surrounded by water on its three sides which gives the cruisers incredible opportunities to choose an itinerary that best suits their dream vacation. Your Europe cruise can depart from Barcelona , Copenhagen , Southampton, Le Havre, Hamburg and many other European ports.
With so much to see and do, cruise lines often separate their European itineraries by regions:
Baltic and Scandinavian Cruises
There’s no better way to explore Northern Europe than with a Baltic cruise. Drift through the awe-inspiring fjords of Norway, wander around the fairytale town of Tallinn in Estonia or admire the architecture of St. Petersburg’s canals.
Cruises to the Baltic and Scandinavia are largely limited to the sunny summer months of July and August.
Mediterranean Cruises
The Mediterranean is probably one of the most popular regions in Europe. You can choose to explore the Western Mediterranean by pulling into port in Barcelona or Civitavecchia, taking you to the south of France and Spain. The Eastern Mediterranean may take you to the ancient ruins of Athens, the charming towns of Montenegro and the atmospheric islands of the Cyclades.
Many cruise lines offer itineraries of 7- 10 days or longer, but for those seeking a shorter vacation, MSC and Costa also offer 3-4- or 5-day cruises .
British Isles Cruises
Don’t forget that the glorious, green British Isles also welcome cruise liners throughout the year. Sail past medieval castles, charming coastal towns and spectacular highland vistas. Your Europe cruise could also take you to majestic Iceland, where days ashore promise the chance to glimpse breathtaking waterfalls and dramatic volcanoes.

Itineraries
Brindisi, italy.
Known as the “Gateway to the East,” Brindisi is one of the largest cities in Italy’s Apulia region and one of the most active trading hubs in the country. Located on the Adriatic coast of Southern Italy, Brindisi will greet you with its crystal-clear waters and historic city views. After the bombings of World War II, the city spent many years rebuilding and now hosts a unique mix of historic and contemporary architecture, including churches and castles like Castello Alfonsino, the Church of Santa Maria del Casale, Santa Maria del Casale, and the Forte a Mare Castle. Beautiful beaches, like Lido Azzurro and Torre Guaceto, are also close by and will offer you a great place to relax.
Bordeaux (Pauillac), France
A destination for wine-lovers, food-lovers, and city ramblers, southern French city and wine region Bordeaux will offer you much more than only its famous red wine. With stunning classical, neo-classical, and urban architecture, historical monuments, incredible art museums, and a buzzing dining and drinking scene, this port city and UNESCO World Heritage site rivals the likes of Paris.
Kavala, Greece
Tucked into the northeastern coast of mainland Greece, just below the Bulgarian border, the hillside city of Kavala overlooks the Aegean Sea and is the main seaport of eastern Macedonia. Kavala will offer you a surprising mix of history, culture, and architecture—archeological sites, monuments, cobblestone streets, wooden balconies lined with flowers, colorful palaces, and hilltop fortresses—as well as diverse landscapes like lush wetlands, lagoons, inland lakes, beaches, and diverse flora and fauna.
Trieste, Italy
Old-World Trieste—a city that draws attention from travelers around the world—sits at a northeastern corner of Italy and brings together the Latin, Slavic, and Germanic cultures of the Adriatic Sea. The Roman and Byzantine empires ruled here once upon a time, and their influences can be seen in the different types of architecture of the cityscape. You can experience Trieste's many cultures through its cozy coffeehouses, seafood restaurants, open-air plazas, Old World churches, and museums.
Volos, Greece
Volos, Greece's newest port city, is located at the foot of Mount Pelion and the innermost point of the Pagasetic Gulf. As an important industrial center and bridge between Europe and Asia, this lively seafront destination offers you many things to discover—local cultural activities, museums, cafes, restaurants, and an exciting nightlife area. You will also enjoy its unique architecture, nearby lush mountain ranges, and golden beaches.

Romantic Rhine (Southbound) 2024
It was a great tour. There were a few thinks that could have been better. Gentle walking was not gentle and it would have been nice to know before hand that a half hour walk was more like an hour and a half.

The overall experience was good! Very friendly staff, good care, good food, Nice music program in the bar and on deck!
Grand Danube Cruise 2024
Captivating Rhine 2024 Start Amsterdam, End Basel
From the Blue Danube to the Black Sea (port-to-port cruise) (11 destinations)
Crosieurope had nice food, plenty of beer and wine, very clean boat - both inside and out. Staff were very nice and helpful, always cleaning windows, carpet, etc. The administration staff were a bit at times disorganised. Sometimes they would forget to give message in English after they delivered Message in French.
The beautiful blue Danube (port-to-port cruise)
The tour was very good, the crew were excellent, very helpful, approachable and informative and always available. The tours were great and the Danube is wonderful to cruise on. The food was of excellent quality but the fact that there was no choice on the menu was poor and we feel there should have been an earlier sitting for dinner, and lunch could have been a buffet. The accommodation was adequate but the shower was totally inadequate. We enjoyed the cruise
Splendours of Europe (Start Amsterdam, End Budapest)
The program in the Emerald ship was magnificently planned and discussed. The local music during the cruise was so informative. Long live the music from the Netherlands and Germany through Austria and Slovakya to Hungary! Just for the music, dances and songs I will do the cruise again!

Al-Rosa did an excellent job. Food was good and lots of it, the cabin was clean and comfortable. The staff were always friendly and helpful and Sabrina did a great job of looking after everyone and made sure that we were always at the right place at the right time. The tours were great and we enjoyed our evenings in the lounge with music and quizzes by Erich. We had a great holiday!
Enchanting Danube (2024) (Budapest to Passau, 2024)
Classical Rhine Cruise (Amsterdam - Basel) (10 destinations)
We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise. It was well organized and the food was superb.
Enchanting Danube (2024) (Passau to Budapest, 2024)
This was our first river cruise and everything went beyond our expectation. Services: the staff were accommodating and helpful. Tours: various excursions to choose from for different age group and they were well-organized. Ship: beautiful boutique-design ship. The only cons is a slow Wifi connection but it ain't a big deal. There were so many onboard activity that kept us entertaining. I noticed that the cruise operates in eco-friendly manner, i.e. they eliminates sing-use plastic. That's a big plus!!!!
European River Cruises Reviews
It was a great cruise. The food was amazing, the crew was really helpful, and the tours and tour guides were great. The only thing to imporve on if the WiFi which only worked half the time.
The Wi-Fi didn’t work as expected and it caused quite an inconvenience. The excursion plan is not as clear either. Overall it’s still a good tour but I think my last Danube river with Avalon is better than this rhino river cruise.
Great company to cruise with. Ship carries 110 passengers. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner each day. Plenty of stops to sightsee. The castles along the Rhine make trip a very enjoyable cruise. All staff were great.

Best Europe Cruise Deals
While European cruises typically come at a higher price point than sailings to other regions, there are still ways to hunt for a good deal and find a cruise for a good value. These cruises typically last at least seven days, which will hike up the price – but because of that, you will also get to explore a number of destinations all in one trip.
Popular Mediterranean cruise itineraries include stops throughout Greece, Italy and Croatia, while Baltic sailings often visit ports in Sweden, Denmark, Russia and Norway. Shore excursions in these locales vary widely by destination. Travelers can tour major architectural sites like the Parthenon in Athens, Greece, or the Royal Palace in Stockholm; take gondola rides in Venice, Italy; or savor local food on a culinary tour through Barcelona, Spain. Most European cities are packed with things to do, so you may be perfectly happy exploring the ports on your own instead to save some money.
You'll find some of the best Mediterranean cruise deals in the early spring and late fall, before peak season sets in. Though not all budget cruise lines consistently sail throughout the Mediterranean, searching for itineraries on larger ships with budget-friendly inside staterooms can help you save some money. For example, Celebrity Cruises' ships carry around 3,000 passengers and offer Mediterranean sailings starting as low as $150 per person, per night, while comparable itineraries on Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises start under $100 per person, per night. In contrast, high-end cruise lines like Viking Ocean Cruises start at about $400 per person, per night, partly because many luxury lines only offer travelers the choice of balcony rooms or suites.
When it comes to Baltic sailings, you can expect inside cabins to start around $100 per person, per night on budget-friendly cruise lines like Carnival and Norwegian. Fares on luxury lines like Seabourn Cruise Line and Silversea Cruises typically begin around $600 for balcony rooms or suites, depending on the line. The most affordable time of year to sail the Baltic Sea, regardless of cruise line, is typically in the fall and early spring.

Best European cruises: 6 ships that stand out across the pond
Prospective cruisers often ask me what the best Europe cruises are, but that question is difficult to answer because Europe is massive. It encompasses some 45 countries and includes such cruise regions as the Mediterranean, the Baltic and Northern Europe, the British Isles and the Canary Islands.
While cruisers are spoiled for choice in this part of the world, it can be difficult to know where to begin when researching voyages.
To help you out, I've narrowed down my favorites for the best cruises to Europe for different types of travelers, including families, couples and solo travelers.
Note: Pricing was accurate at the time of publication. Fares are subject to change without notice, and they do not include additional fees or port taxes.

Best European cruises for families: Disney Dream
Disney Cruise Line is great for kids; if you're planning a cruise in Europe with kids, Disney Dream is a logical choice for best European cruise for families.
Character meet 'n' greets, awe-inspiring nighttime entertainment and fun dining experiences mean your kiddos will never be bored. The ship's stellar kids clubs go above and beyond with a likeness of Andy's room from "Toy Story" and a replica of the Millennium Falcon from "Star Wars" (with visits from R2-D2 and a squad of stormtroopers).
Disney Dream is not the line's newest ship, meaning it's a bit more manageable in terms of both size and price. It's not the oldest, either, so families will find more things to do on board than on the line's smallest vessels.
Ashore, Disney's family-friendly excursions will take you to laze on the beach, explore museums and learn about history.
Disney Dream sails three- to 12-night cruises to Northern and Western Europe, the British Isles and the Mediterranean. Cruise fares start from $308 per person, per night, for a windowless inside cabin. You can visit ports like Belfast and Liverpool on cruises from Southampton; Florence and Rome (Civitavecchia) on Barcelona sailings; and Reykjavik, Copenhagen and Lisbon on open-jaw itineraries.

Best European cruises for couples: Viking Star
If you're a couple seeking an upscale Mediterranean experience that offers real value and a chance to reconnect with your partner, look no further than Viking .
The line's Viking Star sails various Mediterranean itineraries, and the European ports the ship visits offer plenty of opportunities for you to feel the love. Have a phenomenal lunch at a table for two in France, take a pizza-making class together in Italy, get a little giggly at a wine tasting in Greece, or run the casino tables together in Monaco.
Viking includes at least one free shore excursion per port in its fares. That means you can wander Europe's romantic cobblestone streets hand in hand with your sweetie without paying a penny extra.
While fares aren't the cheapest you'll find, you'll get a lot for your money. In addition to the tours, Viking includes Wi-Fi, specialty dining, and beer and wine with lunch and dinner in its prices.
Plus, all cabins on Viking's ships have balconies, which is great if you want some fresh air but feel like keeping to yourself. Complimentary room service is available 24/7, so you can order dinner to your cabin for a relaxing alfresco dining experience for two.
Want even more ways to pamper yourselves together? Check out the phenomenal thermal suite in the ship's spa , which offers sauna and steam rooms, tile loungers and aromatherapy rooms at no extra charge. Or, splurge on a couples massage, which will leave both of you feeling loose and refreshed.
Even better, Viking ships do not allow children on board. It's a great excuse for you and your significant other to rekindle the romance without other passengers' kids running around.
Viking's Mediterranean sailings range from seven to 21 nights. Back-to-back itineraries are rarely the same as Viking Star circles the Med. The ship visits ports such as Barcelona, Spain; Marseille, France; Florence (Livorno), Rome (Civitavecchia), Sicily and Venice, Italy; Monte Carlo, Monaco; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Athens and Santorini, Greece; and Kusadasi, Turkey.
Fares start from $381 per person, per night, for a balcony stateroom.

Best European cruises for seniors: Seabourn Sojourn
If you're a senior traveler who loves great food and excellent wine, one of the best luxury European cruises you can book is a Canary Islands cruise on Seabourn 's Seabourn Sojourn.
The small ship carries fewer than 500 passengers, and you won't find raucous parties or tons of children. Instead, you'll be met with stellar service, gourmet food, a room with a view (all cabins have at least a window) and relative peace and quiet. The long itineraries are ideal for wealthier passengers with lots of time to travel.
Seabourn Sojourn's voyages to the Canaries span 10 to 28 days and visit the islands of La Palma, Gran Canaria and Madeira, as well as Lisbon, Portugal. Fares start from $434 per person, per night, for an ocean-view cabin. Extras like Wi-Fi, gratuities and alcohol (including the in-room mini-bar) are rolled into the fares.

Best for solo cruisers: Norwegian Epic
When Norwegian Epic debuted in 2010, it introduced Norwegian Cruise Line 's first cabins for solo travelers. Designed with single beds and a bit less square footage, these so-called studio cabins are clustered around an exclusive lounge reserved for solos. Special activities allow folks traveling alone to mingle and make new friends.
Since Norwegian Epic began sailing, nearly all of the line's new ships — Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Encore, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva — have been built with accommodations for one, which don't charge occupants a single supplement . However, it's Norwegian Epic that has a presence in the Western Mediterranean, offering solo cruisers a chance to explore Europe on a ship with staterooms just for them.
On board, passengers have plenty of choices for activities and dining. In addition to the usual cruise-ship offerings — pool games, dance parties, game shows, trivia and movie screenings — Epic offers many fun diversions, including an adults-only beach club at the back of the ship, spa treatments, a bowling alley and even gaming lessons (the latter three for a fee).
The vessel sails five- to 12-night voyages back and forth between Rome and Barcelona, calling on ports that include Naples, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Marseille, Cannes and Florence (Livorno). At press time, last-minute fares started from $90 per person, per night, for a studio cabin for one.

Best European party cruises: Virgin Voyages' Resilient Lady
If your Europe bucket list includes the Greek Isles, you don't want to sail with children, and you enjoy a lively party atmosphere, you can't go wrong with Virgin Voyages ' Resilient Lady. The third ship in the line's fleet, Resilient Lady offers some of the best cruises to the Greek Islands.
Expect a casual vibe where passengers dress up like mermaids, crew dress up like drag queens, and performers look like real people. Toss in an onboard tattoo parlor, a food court ( it's not a buffet ), free fitness classes and an app that lets you order Champagne to wherever you are on the ship, and you've got a product that has turned the cruise industry on its head.
Wild nights on board include raucous and sometimes raunchy theater shows, impromptu dance parties and Scarlet Night, a poolside bash reminiscent of a rave where everyone's dressed in red. If that's not enough, attend enough daily activities, and you might be invited to a secret nighttime tour of the crew bar, drinks included.
The ship offers a regular program of 7-, 10- and 14-night voyages, starting from $148 per person, per night, for an inside cabin. The itineraries involve a mix of ports in Greece, Montenegro, Croatia and Turkey, depending on the specific sailing you choose.

Best European cruises for 'wow' factor: Hurtigruten's Richard With
Looking for a sailing that no other cruise line offers — one that will make everyone on TikTok and Instagram jealous? I'm putting my money on a line you've likely never heard of: Hurtigruten .
What began more than 130 years ago as a way for Norway's residents to move themselves and cargo up and down the Norwegian coast continues today as both a means of transportation and a way for cruisers to experience the country's culture.
On the cruise line's Norwegian Coastal Express route, Hurtigruten's Richard With ship calls on 34 ports in just seven days. Some are quick stops in the middle of the night while cargo is loaded and unloaded, but you technically could get off the ship in each port if you wanted to. That in itself makes this itinerary buzzworthy.
Still need convincing? These voyages also cross into the Arctic Circle and sail into Geirangerfjord (northbound from Bergen to Kirkenes) and Trollfjord (southbound from Kirkenes to Bergen), affording absolutely breathtaking views and, of course, bragging rights.
The two routes can be combined into longer 13-day sailings, meaning you'd sail round-trip from Bergen and see all the fjords. Seven-night northbound itineraries from Bergen to Kirkenes start at $331 per person, per night, for an inside cabin.
Bottom line
Ultimately, the best cruise to Europe is a bit subjective in that it depends where in Europe you'd like to go and what your travel style is. Be sure to weigh a combination of destination, price and onboard vibe when deciding which is best for you and your travel party.

If you’ve ever wanted to dive into the culture of the Vikings or explore what makes people in the Nordic region the so-called happiest on earth, you could do a lot worse than book a Scandinavian cruise.
Scandinavia—and Norway in particular—is an expensive place to travel around, so a cruise can make financial sense for those seeking an introduction to the region. For one price, you get your travel, accommodation, meals, and entertainment covered.
Such a trip offers the opportunity to sample various Scandinavian travel highlights , whether you prefer the Scandinavian capitals, the stunning Norwegian fjords, or soaking up the atmosphere of beautiful islands and historic ports in the Baltic Sea.
Popular Scandinavian Cruise Itineraries
Many different types of itinerary can be advertised as Scandinavian cruises. Typically, they focus on the Nordic capital cities. Some may also include the highlights of the Baltic Sea region, including the Baltic countries and ports in the north of Germany and Poland.
With popular Norwegian fjords cruises together with midnight sun and northern lights tours to the north of Norway also available, there is a lot of diversity in Scandinavian cruises.
Scandinavian Capitals : Cruise itineraries starting in the U.K. or Germany and calling in at two or even all three of Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen have long been popular.

Helsinki is often included on such itineraries. If you want to explore modern Scandinavia while gaining access to some of the region’s best museums, such an itinerary is a perfect choice.
Such itineraries tend to be shorter, and are a great introduction to both cruising and Scandinavia, with limited sea days and plenty to see and do while in port.
Baltic Sea : Longer Scandinavian itineraries often include stops at Baltic Sea islands and ports. The beautiful Estonian capital city, Tallinn, or the Latvian capital, Riga, are particular highlights, as are ports on the northern coastline of Germany and Poland.
For those interested in Viking history, look out for smaller ship itineraries featuring Visby on the wonderful island of Gotland .
One such trip is this 12-night itinerary from Celebrity Cruises, which includes a visit to both Visby and Tallinn. Other highlights include a visit to Stockholm and Copenhagen, including an overnight stop in the latter.
The old city walls of Visby on Gotland island, a popular cruise port.
Norwegian Fjords : By far the most variety can be found in the Norwegian fjords region , with almost all major cruise lines operating at least some itineraries here. Although port calls in Flåm and Geiranger will soon be severely limited, many alternative ports will still be able to welcome some of the world’s largest cruise ships.
Whether you prefer the action-packed ships of Royal Caribbean or MSC, or the smaller ships that can sail along narrower fjords, there will be a Norwegian fjords itinerary for you.
Following the recent rise in popularity of the region as a cruising destination, the fjords season has extended, with trips available as early as April and as late as September.
British line P&O Cruises operates its relatively new megaship Iona in the fjords region for much of that period, with regular departures from Southampton on a popular 7-day itinerary.
Midnight Sun : Although all summer cruises in the region will experience long summer days, specific midnight sun itineraries set sail for the far north of Norway to let guests experience the thrill of being outside with the sun in the sky at midnight. Many of these trips visit Honningsvåg, which allows guests to travel by bus to the North Cape.
Northern Lights : In recent years, Scandinavia—or more specifically Norway—has become a year-round cruising destination thanks to the growth in popularity of northern lights cruises .
Aurora borealis in the sky seen from a cruise ship in Arctic Norway.
These itineraries can be found heading north of the Arctic Circle between October and early April.
Planning Tips For Scandinavian Cruises
Cruising in Northern Europe offers a fantastic variety of excursions and experiences, from historical city tours to adrenaline-filled outdoor adventures.
The region’s love of the outdoors lifestyle means active experiences are easy to find, both through cruise line excursions and independent operators.
The high levels of English comprehension across the region means booking your own activities and exploring ports independently is much easier than in many other parts of the world. Even so, look for independent tours that take place earlier in the day to reduce any time-related risk.
No matter when you visit Scandinavia, pack for all weathers. The height of summer can be marred by heavy rainfall, while it’s possible to get sunburnt in the snow-covered conditions of February and March.
Pack a versatile wardrobe. Layered clothing accommodates the region's variable weather, while specialized gear might be necessary for specific excursions.
Cruising And Sustainability
Prospective travelers should be aware of environmental concerns associated with cruising in this pristine region. The industry is moving towards sustainability, with initiatives to introduce zero-emission vessels in sensitive areas, particularly the UNESCO-listed Norwegian fjords .
Some local initiatives protesting against cruise travel have also gathered momentum, so cruisers should be aware of these issues before setting foot ashore.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has given "new impetus" to calls for the EU to be enlarged beyond the current 27 members, Charles Michel, the president of the European Council, has said.
The alternative would be a "terrible, irresponsible mistake", he added.
Discussing an enlargement in 2004, when 10 mostly ex-communist nations such as Poland and Hungary joined the bloc, Mr Michel said it had been a "call of history to unite European countries", the 20th anniversary of which is on Wednesday.
He added: "Twenty years later we face a similar challenge because there is this geo-political chaos, including because of this war by Russia against Ukraine.
"And facing this chaos is the geo-political strategy to reunify once again."
Current applicants to join the EU include six Balkan countries, plus Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.
Ukraine is by far the largest prospective member.
"Because of the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, there is a new impetus, a reinvigoration of the (EU) enlargement strategy," Mr Michel said.
"It is challenging. But what is the alternative? The alternative would be a terrible, irresponsible mistake from the EU."
He suggested the EU and candidate countries should carry out the reforms necessary for enlargement by 2030.
Fresh supplies of weapons from the US have begun to arrive in Ukraine but the process needs to speed up, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
Speaking alongside NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg at a joint news conference in Kyiv, the Ukrainian president said there had been "timely support for our army".
He added, however: "Today I don't see anything positive on this point yet.
"There are supplies - they have slightly begun. This process needs to be sped up."
A new $61bn (£48bn) US military aid package was finally signed into law last week after months of deadlock in the US House of Representatives.
Kyiv is hoping its critically low stocks of artillery shells will soon be replenished.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked "partners" as he said Ukraine is "making every effort" to use drones more effectively.
In addition to posting some pictures on X, the Ukrainian president said he wanted to thank people who train drone operators, as well as "our warriors for their efficiency".
He added: "I thank everyone involved in the production and those who ensure better protection of the Ukrainian skies through their work."
Ukrainian servicemen have been saying goodbye to their visiting partners at the railway station in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine.
The men were on a short break from frontline duty.
Russia's defence ministry says its forces have taken control of the village of Semenivka in the eastern Donetsk region.
Yesterday, the ministry announced the capture of another village, Novobakhmutivka.
Ocheretyne, also near by, has been a focal point of fighting in recent days.
Ukraine's top general, speaking yesterday, said fighting had intensified in the east of the country, with troops falling back in three areas.
Oleksandr Syrskyi said Russian troops had achieved "certain tactical successes" in the villages of Berdychi, Semenivka and Novomykhailivka.
Ukraine has confirmed that chatbots used by its security agencies on Telegram have been restored after being temporarily blocked.
We reported earlier (6.56am post) that Kyiv's security service described their blocking as "unreasonable".
Now, Ukraine's Centre for Strategic Communication has said three affected bots, used by Ukraine's SBU security service, the GUR and digital ministry for the war effort, had been restored.
A Telegram spokesperson said they were "temporarily disabled due to a false positive but have since been reinstated".
The number of civilians killed or injured in Ukraine in March was 604, according to the UN, which has a human rights monitoring team in the country.
The figure is 20% higher than February's.
The UK defence ministry, highlighting the numbers in its daily intelligence update, said 57 children were reported killed in March, "double the previous month".
Their deaths have been "attributed directly to Russian use of aerial munitions", the MoD said.
Civilian deaths in general are attributed to "missile and aerial-munitions strikes throughout Ukraine and increased bombardment at the frontlines".
The UN's report highlights an increase in coordinated strikes on critical Ukrainian infrastructure, with 20 sites "destroyed or damaged".
In total, there have been 31,366 civilian casualties in Ukraine since 24 February 2022, the MoD said (including areas Russia is controlling).
Of those, 10,810 were killed and 20,556 were wounded.
We reported earlier in our big picture post (6.27am post) that Oleksandr Pivnenko, who commands Ukraine's National Guard, is not ruling out a Russian attempt to target Kharkiv - Ukraine's second-largest city.
Kharkiv has been the focus of recent air attacks.
The US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) thinktank assesses that the Russian military "lacks the forces necessary to seize the city".
But the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, has said the threat of an invasion is causing Ukraine to allocate additional resources to defend the city - weakening forces elsewhere.
The ISW said: "Syrskyi noted that Ukrainian forces have recently improved their positions near Synkivka (east of Kharkiv)."
The Russians' "combat effectiveness" can be questioned because of their "inability to seize Synkivka despite repeated mass infantry and mechanized assaults", the ISW said.
It went on: "ISW continues to assess that a potential future Russian offensive to seize Kharkiv City would be an extremely ambitious undertaking that would pose significant challenges to Russian forces, particularly since Russian forces will be facing better-equipped Ukrainian forces following the arrival of US military assistance."
Telegram has reportedly restored some blocked Ukrainian bots.
They include those of the security service and ministry of digital transformation, the Kyiv Post said on X.
As we reported earlier (6.56am post) the security service said Telegram had "unreasonably" blocked bots that "opposed Russia's military aggression against Ukraine".
Three men who are entrepreneurs in their day jobs have been assembling drones in a home kitchen in Kyiv.
Denys, Yaw and Eugene send the tiny aircraft on to the Ukrainian armed forces.
