2021 World Tour Championship: Live stream, Race to Dubai TV schedule, golf tee times for European Tour finale

The best event of the week takes place in the uae as the european tour crowns a champion.

The best golf tournament this week is not taking place under the PGA Tour banner but rather several thousand miles away in Dubai. The European Tour's season culminates over the next few days with the DP World Tour Championship.

This year's field included Rory McIlroy, Tyrrell Hatton, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, Will Zalatoris, Paul Casey, Matt Fitzpatrick and the two leaders of the Race to Dubai -- Billy Horschel and Collin Morikawa. The event is tantamount to the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup as a season-long race winds down and will reward the very top players in the standings at the end of the week.

Heading into the final round on Sunday, one of the biggest names in the sport seems focused on walking away with the title in the European Tour finale as McIlroy sits atop the leaderboard at 14 under. It's a slim one-shot lead, so excitement will be high in Round 4 as McIlroy pursues the victory. 

Below is all the information you need to catch the Race to Dubai as it concludes on Sunday.

European tour resumes full international schedule in 2021.

The European Tour on Tuesday released its global schedule for 2021, a slate of events featuring at least 42 tournaments in 24 countries.

The schedule reveal looks similar to the pre-pandemic version, with 18 returning tournaments that were either postponed or canceled because of the coronavirus.

Each of the Rolex Series events (now just four of them) will feature an increase in prize money and offer the same number of Race to Dubai points (8,000) as a World Golf Championship event. European Tour members can begin accruing points toward Ryder Cup qualification beginning in January, at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship (Jan. 21-24).

The European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, will be held Sept. 9-12 – a week after the PGA Tour’s season-ending Tour Championship, and two weeks prior to the Ryder Cup in Wisconsin.

Learning from the reshuffling caused by the pandemic, the European Tour has once again grouped events together based on geographic proximity to create a more travel-friendly schedule.

“With the pursuit of Ryder Cup points beginning again in January for our European members; qualification spots now available for our Rolex Series events; a sustained pursuit of innovation; and our continued celebration of our wonderful heritage, it is understandable that our overarching narrative for this season is that ‘Every Week Counts,’” said European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley.

2022 DP World Tour (European Tour) schedule: Tournaments, dates, purses and venues

The 2022 DP World Tour (European Tour) schedule has been announced, with a significant overhaul to the 48-event docket that golf fans have been accustomed to seeing in recent years.

The most significant changes to the schedule are related to the strategic alliance between DP World Tour and the European Tour that was announced in November 2021, changing the name of the tour and raising the minimum value of purses to $2 million.

European Tour co-sanctioned, purse-boosted events

The two tours are co-sanctioning three events on their schedules, including the European Tour's Scottish Open, which has a new sponsor in Genesis, as well the Barbasol Championship and Barracuda Championship on the DP World Tour (European Tour). The fields in all three events will feature a split of player availability between DP World Tour (European Tour) and European Tour pros, including spots for 50 European Tour players in the Barbasol and Barracuda Championships, which will be played opposite the Scottish Open and Irish Open.

The Genesis Scottish Open will remain part of the European Tour's Rolex Series. The Irish Open, which will not be co-sanctioned in 2022, will have a purse boosted by the DP World Tour (European Tour) to $6 million -- nearly double the amount offered this year.

There are a variety of new events on the schedule this year, including the Ras al Khaimah Championship in the UAE, the Pecanwood Classic and Steyn City Championship in South Africa, the Soudal Open in Belgium, two new events in Asia (including one in Japan) and the return of the Cyprus Open.

World Golf Championships halved

Since 2009, there have been four World Golf Championships events on the schedule. However, there are just two on the 2022 schedule: the WGC-HSBC Champions in China from Oct. 28-31 and the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in Texas from March 23-27.

With the Memphis-based event becoming a playoff event, the other change is the WGC-Mexico Championship dropping out of the series. A Mexico Championship is listed on the schedule as a full-field event.

Indian Open 2024 golf: Japan’s Keita Nakajima wins title, India’s Veer Ahlawat finishes tied-second

Keita Nakajima carded 17 under par to win the title. USA’s Johannes Veerman and Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg also finished T2. Anirban Lahiri missed the cut.

Japan’s Keita Nakajima won his maiden DP World Tour title at the Indian Open 2024 golf tournament, which concluded at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram on Sunday.

Nakajima secured a comprehensive victory as a 73 in the final round proved enough to hand him a four-shot win with a total of 17 under-par. He arrived into the final round on the back of a four-shot advantage.

The Japanese golfer had opened up a nine-shot lead at one point but a strong finish from home favourite Veer Ahlawat, American Johannes Veerman and Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg, who all finished tied-second, cut down his victory margin.

"It feels amazing," Nakajima said. "I feel like this is the first win of a new professional career. This is my first year playing on the DP World Tour and I'm very proud to have won on the DP World Tour and very honoured to be playing here. I want to try and finish in the top ten on this tour and then go to the PGA Tour in 2025.”

This was only Nakajima’s 11th start and victory here has helped him move to 13th in the Race to Dubai Rankings and on top of the Asian Swing Standings.

Nakajima has also become only the fifth Japanese winner in the history of the DP World Tour. Players from Japan have notched seven DP World Tour victories overall.

India’s Veer Ahlawat, meanwhile, finished strong and went three under in his last three holes to finish tied-second. He ended up as the highest-ranked Indian golfer in the home tournament after scoring 13 under par.

India’s Manu Gandas finished tied-11th with nine under par while Karandeep Kochhar finished with eight under par to end up at T13 on the leaderboard. Shubhankar Sharma finished tied 31st.

Indian Open 2015 champion Anirban Lahiri, however, missed the cut. Lahiri is a two-time winner on the European Tour golf circuit and a seven-time Asian Tour winner.

European Tour 2022 schedule: Tournaments, dates and venues confirmed for the season ahead

European Tour season will kick off in South Africa during the last week of November, just a week after the 2021 campaign concludes at the DP World Tour Championship

The 2021-22 European Tour season will begin later this month, with the tournament schedule for the forthcoming campaign starting to take shape.

A run of three consecutive events in South Africa, all co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Tour, take place in November and December and are followed by five tournaments in the Middle East across January and February.

Events in India and Kenya have been confirmed for the early part of 2022, while dates for the men's major schedule and the co-sanctioned events with the PGA Tour had already been announced.

The full schedule for next season is expected to be confirmed over the coming weeks, but here are the tournaments that have already been announced as part of next season's schedule…

This is the 20-year anniversary of Tiger Woods making a hole-in-one on the 16th hole. ... Phil Mickelson , who played last week in Saudi Arabia, is not playing. The three-time Phoenix Open winner went to school at Arizona State. ... The field is led by Jon Rahm , and it features six of the top 10 and 15 of the top 20 from the world ranking. That includes Daniel Berger and Louis Oosthuizen, who withdrew from tournaments last week citing injury. ... Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama plays for the first time since his victory in the Sony Open. He is a two-time winner at the TPC Scottsdale, both times in a playoff. ... The tournament has been decided by a playoff four of the last six years. ... Johnny Miller holds the tournament record for margin of victory when he won by 14 shots in 1975. ...
