On me demande souvent comment aller aux Bahamas depuis Miami . Alors je me suis dit que j'allais écrire un article pour vous expliquer toutes les options possibles pour visiter les Bahamas sur une journée ou plus.  Et vous allez voir dans cet article qu'il est impossible de ne pas tomber sous le charme des Bahamas ! 😍 Cet archipel de 700 îles situé à l’est de la Floride est juste dingue. Entre ses plages paradisiaques , ses eaux turquoise  et ses habitants accueillants , cette destination propose un dépaysement total 🙂

Comment aller aux Bahamas depuis Miami ?

Si vous êtes tentés par l’aventure d’un séjour incroyable, que vous avez envie de vous baigner dans des  eaux magnifiques , d’observer des tortues, des dauphins et même des requins, laissez-vous tenter par une petite escapade de quelques heures ou quelques jours à  Bimini ,  Nassau  ou encore  Freeport . D’autant plus que le trajet depuis la Floride n’a rien de compliqué ! Je vous explique tout ce qu'il y a à savoir dans cet article 🏝️

La solution la moins chère pour aller aux Bahamas depuis Miami 😍

Si vous n'avez pas le temps de lire cet article en totalité, voici ce que je peux vous conseiller : optez pour une excursion au départ du port Fort Lauderdale . Vous embarquerez à bord d’un ferry qui vous emmènera sur l’une des îles des Bahamas, soit Freeport ou Bimini selon les jours. À votre arrivée sur place, vous aurez environ 7h pour découvrir les Bahamas. En fin de journée, vous reprendrez le ferry pour rejoindre la Floride. Il faut compter 215 €, l'aller-retour par personne !

Aller aux Bahamas en avion depuis Miami

Si vous ne savez pas que faire à Miami , je vous recommande vivement d' aller visiter les Bahamas sur une journée au moins . Mais si vous souhaitez dédier plus d'une journée à la visite des Bahamas, prenez l'avion  ! De nombreux vols sont disponibles depuis l'aéroport de Miami, qui vous emmèneront aux Bahamas en  1 h environ . Ensuite, libre à vous de réserver votre logement et vos activités sur place 😉

Trois compagnies assurent des liaisons régulières entre Miami et les Bahamas : American Airlines, Bahamasair et JetBlue.

Le vol dure environ 1 h selon la destination (entre 50 minutes et 1 h 15) : Nassau, Freeport, George Town. Et les prix varient selon la saison et l’aéroport d’arrivée.

Les vols directs depuis Miami

Pourquoi aller à nassau .

Si vous faites un aller-retour dans la journée,  Nassau est la meilleure option, car c’est un des lieux les plus intéressants des Bahamas. Les vols directs pour Nassau se font avec American Airlines et Bahamasair. Le vol dure 45 minutes et vous atterrissez au  Lynden Pindling International Airport . Comptez environ 180 € .

Capitale de l’archipel des Bahamas, Nassau propose un  large choix d’activités et d’excursions à faire . Bien sûr, vous pouvez vous prélasser sous les cocotiers, mais vous pouvez aussi aller faire du snorkeling  à Athol Island, rencontrer les dauphins à Blue Lagon Island 🐬, profiter de l’immense parc aquatique de l’Atlantis Paradise Island ou encore faire un tour au petit marché de Straw Market.

Pourquoi aller à Les Exumas ?

Vous pouvez également rejoindre Les Exumas  via sa capitale  George Town (située sur la plus grande île, Great Exuma) directement depuis Miami (1 h de vol) pour environ  300 €.

Cet archipel dans l’archipel des Bahamas se compose de 365 îles toutes aussi belles les unes que les autres. Vous y trouverez un incroyable parc naturel sous-marin et terrestre, l’ Exuma National Land and Sea Park . Et dans cet espace protégé, vous pourrez aller à la rencontre de requins, de raies et de toutes sortes de poissons multicolores. Mais l’attraction principale restera les cochons sauvages  des îles qui se feront un plaisir de venir nager avec vous ! 🐷

Pourquoi aller à Freeport ?

Vous avez aussi des vols directs entre Miami et  Freeport (environ 260 € ) et Miami. Freeport est la ville principale de l'île de Gran Bahama. Elle est très prisée pour son parc national, le  Lucayan National Park où les plongeurs se plaisent à découvrir les grandes grottes sous-marines 🤿

Les vols au départ de Fort Lauderdale

Les compagnies aériennes JetBlue Airways, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines ou encore Bahamasair proposent aussi des vols (1 h de vol) au départ de Fort Lauderdale à destination de Nassau . Ils coûtent souvent moins chers que ceux au départ de Miami.

Pour trouver vos billets, n’hésitez pas à utiliser des comparateurs de vols ! Vous en trouverez sûrement à moins de 100 €.

Vous ne savez pas encore que faire aux Bahamas  durant votre escapade ? Entre les sorties en bateau pour aller nager avec des cochons, le catamaran, le jetski, vous aurez de quoi faire niveau activités aux Bahamas, que vous y soyez pour une journée ou plusieurs jours 😉 Vous trouverez également des excursions pour aller d'une île à une autre afin de découvrir d'autres activités et choses à faire. Je vous conseille tout de même de penser à réserver vos activités en avance , afin d'être sûrs de ne pas manquer une activité qui vous plairait vraiment !

Aller aux Bahamas en bateau

Depuis août 2019, il n’y a plus de liaison directe entre Miami et les Bahamas en bateau. Par conséquent, pour rejoindre les Bahamas en bateau, vous devez passer par le port de Fort Lauderdale , à environ 40 km au nord de Miami. Vous pourrez alors aller directement à Bimini  ou à  Freeport , la ville principale de l'île de Gran Bahama.

Les ferries sont ultras rapides, font 50 mètres de long et peuvent accueillir jusqu’à 400 passagers. Pendant la traversée, vous pouvez profiter du soleil sur le pont ou accéder aux services disponibles à l’intérieur (bar, salon, boutiques).

Fort Lauderdale / Bimini

La compagnie Balearia Bahamas propose des départs depuis Fort Lauderdale en direction de  Bimini . La traversée dure environ 2 h pour environ  200 €  aller-retour en classe économique. Vous trouverez plusieurs disponibilités pour le départ et l'arrivée.

Pourquoi aller à Bimini ?  Bimini est la destination balnéaire la plus prisée de l’archipel. Elle propose un dépaysement total. Vous pourrez y rencontrer des dauphins sauvages et apprendre tout un tas de choses sur les requins dans le centre de recherche qui leur est spécialement dédié (le Shark Lab). C’est aussi l’île la plus proche de Miami.

Fort Lauderdale / Freeport

La compagnie Balearia Bahamas propose des ferries en direction du port de Freeport  sur l’île de Grand Bahama. La traversée Miami-Fort Lauderdale / Grand Bahama dure 3 h. Les prix varient selon la saison et la classe choisie. Toutefois vous pouvez trouver des billets à environ  150 € , si vous réservez à l’avance sur  Direct Ferries par exemple !

Comment aller à Fort Lauderdale depuis Miami ?

Bien sûr, vous pouvez réserver par vous-même une navette qui vous emmènera depuis votre hôtel au port de  Fort Lauderdale (environ 30 €). Par ailleurs, si vous ne savez pas où dormir à Miami , j'ai un article qui devrait vous intéresser ! 😉

Et si votre vol vient d’atterrir à l’aéroport de Miami, vous pouvez prendre le train (le Tri-trail) et descendre à la station « Fort Lauderdale » ou à la station « Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport Station ». Comptez 45 minutes de trajet et environ 9 $ aller-retour . Vous n’aurez plus qu’à prendre un taxi jusqu’au port. Vous en aurez pour environ 20 dollars et un petit quart d’heure de trajet. 

Les packages pour aller aux Bahamas depuis Miami

De nombreuses compagnies proposent des excursions organisées vers les îles des Bahamas. Ces packages vous permettent de gagner du temps puisque vous ne vous occupez de rien, mais aussi de l’argent : en effet, cela vous revient moins cher  que si vous payiez chaque activité séparément.

Les excursions comprennent :

• le transport en bus depuis votre hôtel à Miami jusqu’au port de Fort Lauderdale,
• la traversée en ferry jusqu’à  Bimini  (en 2 h) ou  Freeport
• et le retour en bateau en direction de Fort Lauderdale.

Vous disposez entretemps d’environ 6 h à 8 h de temps libre  aux Bahamas. Vous pourrez y profiter de l’eau turquoise ou encore faire du farniente sur la plage.

Les prix de ces packages dépendra des  options que vous aurez prises (suppléments pour des activités extérieures : jet ski, nage avec les dauphins…) et de la  classe  que vous aurez choisie dans le ferry (classe économique ou première). Notez qu’en première classe, vous êtes prioritaire à l’embarquement et au débarquement. Les taxes portuaires sont généralement incluses dans ses excursions organisées. Certains packages comportent aussi des pass  pour accéder aux aménagements d’un des hôtels de l’île que vous avez choisie.

Bimini : une journée dans les Bahamas depuis Miami

Les Bahamas rien que d’entendre le nom, cela fait déjà rêver ! Il se trouve que les premières îles se trouvent à 80 kilomètres de Miami, donc beaucoup d’entre vous espèrent profiter de leur séjour à Miami pour aller faire une escapade sur les plages de sable blanc des Caraïbes.

 Les questions que l'on peut donc se poser sont : "est-ce que cela vaut vraiment la peine de n'y passer qu'une journée? ", "Que peut-on voir en s'y peu de temps ?, "Que comprend l'excursion ?" mais aussi "où réserver cette excursion?"

Je vais donc  tâcher de répondre à toutes ces questions à travers cet article mais aussi vous donner des conseils pour préparer au mieux cette activité. Pour info, j'ai opté pour l'excursion sur l'île de Bimini 😉 .

 Bon plan : un moyen de passer une journée dépaysante dans des décors de rêve !

Où se trouve Bimini ?

Bimini  est l'une des plus petites îles habitées des Bahamas, mais aussi l’une des plus proches des Etats-Unis. Bimini se compose de North Bimini,  la partie plus animée et South Bimini, là où se trouve l’aéroport. La communication entre les différentes îles est assurée par des bateaux-taxis.

Comment se passe cette excursion dans les Bahamas ?

Il faut compter environ 45min de trajet jusqu'à Fort Lauderdale .

Arrivés au Port de Fort Lauderdale, on vérifie nos billets et nos passeports. Là, commence une attente d'environ 1h30 dans le terminal de départ...

Vers 8h30, on monte enfin dans le ferry. L'intérieur du ferry est confortable. A bord, on peut boire, manger, et même faire du shopping au Duty Free 😉 .

Par contre, à bord, il fait vraiment très froid, la clim' est à fond !! Je vous conseille donc de prévoir de quoi vous couvrir !!!

Finalement, la traversée passe assez vite. Il y a même un film ( en anglais) qui est diffusé sur les différents écrans présents un peu partout. Nous étions en première classe, nous avons donc eu droit à une boisson et un en-cas, mais sincèrement, cela n'apporte pas vraiment de plus...

2h plus tard, on arrive à Bimini. On aperçoit l'eau turquoise, et là, la magie opère immédiatement !

Une fois débarqués, on passe le contrôle de l'immigration en 5 min, et une navette vient nous chercher.

La navette emmène les passagers à l'hôtel Hilton, la compagnie de ferry ayant signé un partenariat avec celui-ci. C'est très bien organisé.

A peine embarqués, la navette s'arrête devant des voiturettes de golf. Nous faisons le choix d'en louer une afin de pouvoir visiter l'île à notre guise, mais ce n'est pas du tout obligatoire. Nous payons la location $50 en cash, mais sachez qu'il est possible d'en louer au lobby de l'hôtel Hilton pour $60...

Si vous ne souhaitez pas louer de voiturette, les navettes de l'hôtel vous dépose à la plage gratuitement 😉 .

Que faire une fois à Bimini ?

Fraichement montés dans notre voiturette, on part un peu au pif à la découverte du coeur de Bimini 😉 .

Les maisons sont très jolies et très colorées, mais elles révèlent aussi la pauvreté de l'île...

On tombe aussi sur de vrais paysages de carte postale...

Après s'être baladés, nous nous arrêtons au bord de la route pour manger dans un conch wagon  .

Nous opterons pour les Conch fritters,  nous en aurons pour $12 à 2.

Repas avec vue...

Nous irons à la rencontre d'un pêcheur de conques ( ou Lambis) . Les conques se sont d'énormes coquillages et lorsqu'on les colle contre son oreille, on entend la mer 😉 . C'est le plat traditionnel ici.

J'ai même eu le privilège de vider un coquillage, enfin, bon, si on peut appeler ça un privilège, ahaha !!

Nous décidons ensuite d'aller à la plage, car après tout, c'est surtout pour cela que nous sommes venus ici !!

Nous partons direction Paradise Beach.  On peut dire que la plage porte bien son nom car c'est vraiment un petit paradis sur terre !

Le dépaysement est total et voir cette eau si bleue turquoise a de quoi faire rêver !

Sur la plage, les transats sont gratuits mais par contre les parasols sont à louer...$26 la journée, et paiement en cash uniquement .. Le soleil tapant assez fort, on se décide à en louer un. Par contre, un parasol suffit pour 2 transats 😉 .

L’eau est super chaude et cristalline. Le sable est blanc et super fin. Pas une algue dans l'eau, aucune puce de sable, bref la plage est juste parfaite !

Après avoir profité de la plage pendant quelques heures, il est temps de partir malheureusement !

A 18h00, la navette est de retour pour nous ramener sur le ferry. C'est la fin d'une journée magique...

Nous serons de retour à Fort Lauderdale à 21h00. Le seul bémol de cette journée fut le retour... En effet, l'attente à l'immigration fût assez longue 😉 .Le shuttle nous attend à la sortie, 1h plus tard nous serons de retour à Miami .

• Attention, il faut absolument que vous ayez votre passeport et votre ESTA avec vous si vous voulez embarquer ! En effet, au retour, comme on entre à nouveau sur le territoire américain, il y a les mêmes contrôles que dans les aéroports.

L’île de Bimini est un très bon choix pour une excursion d’un jour. Je vous avoue qu'au départ, je n'étais pas vraiment convaincue par cette excursion.. En effet,  je me disais qu'en si peu de temps, nous n'allions pas voir grand chose ... Evidemment, l'île est faite pour le tourisme avant tout et la journée est très longue, mais finalement le rapport qualité/prix et le temps passé sur place est parfait.

Ainsi si votre planning et votre budget le permet, je vous recommande vraiment de tenter l'expérience car le dépaysement est total.  Elle donne un avant-goût de ce que peuvent être des vacances dans les Bahamas, et donc pourquoi y partir plusieurs jours une prochaine fois 😉 .

Par contre, si vous comptez vous y rendre pour faire des activités de snorkelling  ou de plongée, je vous conseille plutôt de vous rendre à Key West . En effet, ce sera sans doute plus rentable et plus intéressant 😉 .

Au départ du port Fort Lauderdale, vous embarquerez à bord d’un ferry qui vous emmènera sur l’une des îles des Bahamas. Vous aurez le choix entre Freeport et Bimini selon les jours.

Freeport est la ville principale de l'île de Gran Bahama, connue pour son parc national Lucayan qui comprend de vastes grottes sous-marines, et offre un cadre idéal pour pratiquer la randonnée et le kayak. Pour rejoindre Freeport, les croisières partent de Fort Lauderdale.

Bimini est un archipel d'îles, destination balnéaire la plus prisée des Bahamas de par la richesse de ses fonds marins, idéal pour la plongée. Vous accèderez à Bimini Nord, l'île principale de l'archipel. Pour rejoindre Bimini, les croisières partent de Miami.

A votre arrivée sur Freeport ou Bimini, vous profiterez d’environ 7h de temps libre pour découvrir les Bahamas. Vous pourrez par exemple vous relaxer sur la plage au soleil, flâner dans les boutiques ou encore faire de la plongée avec masque et tuba. 

En fin de journée, vous reprendrez le ferry pour rejoindre la Floride.

• Excursion en "première classe" : Lors du trajet (environ 2 heures) vous profiterez de la tranquillité et de l’espace de la cabine première classe.  Un petit encas vous sera également servi et vous serez prioritaire à l’embarquement et à la descente du bateau. Vous pourrez également accéder aux différents services disponibles sur le ferry (bar, boutique, salon)
• Excursion en "classe économique " : Lors du trajet en ferry, vous aurez une place réservée en cabine économique et vous pourrez accéder aux différents services disponibles sur le ferry (bar, boutique, salon)

Il vous sera également demandé de choisir l'île de votre choix entre Freeport et Bimini. Attention, le choix de l'île dépend souvent du jour de la semaine.

Solo Bookings This tour is minimum 2 Persons . In the case that we don’t reach 2 customers and you are traveling alone as a Solo traveler, an additional Solo Supplement of $460 applies and is due at time of boat departure check-in on-island.

Customer of Size Upon booking, customers are encouraged to disclose if they anticipate needing a seatbelt extender. There is a weight limit of 350lbs per passenger. For customers weighing more than 350lbs, please enquire with us before booking regarding your options to travel.

Important Notes Each participant must complete a signed waiver before commencing the tour. The tour operator provide these to complete on-island prior to departing on your boat tour. For the group tour option, we need a minimum of 48 hours notice (2 days before) to take your booking and get it reserved. NOTE: Confirmation of your booking and place on the tour is only made after both payment and issue of the confirmation email with flight tickets . Submitting the booking request form on this website does not confirm your booking. We encourage customers to book as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment. Last minute booking requests during peak season (Christmas, March-July) can be hard to fulfil. We can’t guarantee all stops on the tour itinerary due to weather, sea conditions and progress of the group along the tour route. Expectant mothers will require a Doctor’s clearance to fly letter. Weather: Tours operate Rain or Shine. We only have to cancel tours ahead of time during exceptional weather (tropical storms). Weather in the Bahamas is generally scattered clouds with isolated but fast moving thunderstorms. It is likely you will encounter a rain shower during your tour. Bahamas Day Trip Itinerary Timings Timings are all approximate to give an example of the format of the day trip. Timings will vary due to flight schedules, air traffic control delays, weather conditions and progress of the tour group along the tour route.

NOTE: Please check your Email Itinerary Confirmation for check-in Time & Location. 7:30  AM: Flight Departs to Staniel Cay NOTE: You may be booked on a flight departing at 6:45am which requires check-in by 5:45am. Please check your Email Itinerary Confirmation. 8:30  AM: Arrival at Bahamas Immigration and Customs on Andros Island 9:45  AM: Arrival at Staniel Cay 10:00  AM: Boat Tour ( Attractions visited here ) 1:00  PM: Break for Lunch at Staniel Cay Yacht Club (SCYC Lunch  menu here ) 4:30 PM: Flight Departs Staniel Cay back to Florida NOTE: You may be booked on a returning flight departing at 3:15pm. What to Bring You are allowed to bring a small day bag per person, weighing upto 10lbs . What to pack:

• Passports & Travel Documentation (Entry Visas, etc)
• Money for tips ($US accepted in the Bahamas), the Yacht Club accepts credit cards for Lunch
• Battery pack phone charger if you take photos on your phone, you will take alot!
• Sun protection; shirt, hat and sun cream
• A change of dry clothes
• A warm layer if you don’t like air-conditioned aircraft!
• Snacks, if you have any specific dietary needs

Carry-on Baggage Policy Baggage is limited to 10lbs per person, including your personal items such as handbag, laptop bags, etc. Excess baggage will be charged a fee of $1.75 per lb pound. For safety reasons, excess baggage can only be accepted on a space-available basis, as determined by the Flight Operator. Please note that all baggage will be considered checked baggage, unless the bag weighs 5lbs or under. Infants do not get a bag allowance.

Do I need a Passport to fly to Bahamas from Florida? Yes! Physical passports books are a requirement for all guests. US ID Cards or Birth Certificates are not an adequate substitute for a passport because these are international flights requiring entry to both the Bahamas and re-entry into the United States. Passports are required for all persons, including children.
