Hinder to Revisit ‘Extreme Behavior’ Album in Full on 15th Anniversary Tour

Hinder are heading back in time this spring, announcing plans to revisit their Extreme Behavior album in its entirety for the first time in honor of the record's 15th anniversary.

The band's debut disc put them on the map, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. The album featured the breakout hits "Lips of an Angel" and "Get Stoned," while also yielding the singles "How Long," "Better Than Me" and "Homecoming Queen." The album has been certified triple platinum.

"It’s a strange feeling to think that our first major label album came out 15 years ago! This tour is going to be the first time that we’ve played some these songs since 2005. Going back through the catalogue brings back so many memories of where we were when each song was written. I can’t wait to see how people react to each song at the shows," says Cody Hanson.

Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday (Feb. 28). Head here for ticketing info.

Meanwhile, the band continues working toward their next studio album, with details expected to arrive soon. This will be the band's first album since 2017's The Reign . Hanson says, “We’re excited about releasing the next album, but in a different way than usual. We’ve never had the opportunity before to completely control every aspect of the creative process until now. We’ve worked really hard to get to this point and we can’t wait to share the outcome with our fans!”

  • Hinder is best known for their hit " Lips Of An Angel ," a song about struggling to move on from an ex, from their debut album, Extreme Behavior . The album title aptly describes the band's outlook: They were known for drunken mayhem in the tradition of Mötley Crüe, and their songs reflected that. "Lips Of An Angel" was never pegged as a hit but it got an incredible reaction when they played it live. It was the follow-up to their first single, " Get Stoned ," which better represents the band.
  • Hinder headlined the four-week "Girls Gone Wild Rock America Tour" in early 2006, with the bands Faktion and Revelation Theory also on the bill. This was part of the Girls Gone Wild franchise, a series of videos that show college-age girls at party spots engaging in behavior that would mortify their parents.
  • Music journalists love to lump Hinder into a category with other bands in the active rock and hard rock genres, such as Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, and 3 Doors Down. Ironically, the band doesn't mind the comparisons. When Songfacts talked to Hinder drummer Cody Hanson in 2012, he said he's cool with being compared to Nickelback because "they're the biggest band in the world."
  • After the success of their 2005 single "Lips Of An Angel," Hinder went into the studio to record their sophomore effort, Take It to the Limit . Unfortunately, they didn't get the same level of promotional support when it was released in 2008 and it stalled their momentum. Cody Hanson described the experience as being similar to "having the rug pulled out from under them."
  • The boys in Hinder generally write songs by recording rough acoustic demos before going into the studio to create full-on rock productions. Drummer Cody Hanson says they'll listen to these rough demos and pick which ones they want to record better quality versions of for their albums, unless there's something that really stands out and needs to be fleshed out right away.
  • In December 2007, Hinder lead singer Austin Winkler was arrested on suspicion of DUI after driving home in his friend's SUV while intoxicated. Winkler was originally pulled over in Jonesboro, Arkansas because his headlights were not on. The police officer soon realized that he had alcohol on his breath. Winkler blew more than twice the legal limit, was arrested, and was sent to appear in court the following month.
  • In November 2007, Hinder was given the Rising Star Award from the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Hall. Other famous inductees from the late '00s include The All-American Rejects (2008,) Carrie Underwood (2009,) and Kristin Chenoweth (2011.)
  • Austin Winkler took a leave of absence from Hinder's national tour in 2013 to enter rehab. The band continued on without him with the help of fill-in vocalists like Saving Abel's Jared Weeks. Later in the year, on November 20, it was announced that the band had parted ways with Winkler.
